#like im playing com rn and obvi im spoiled to fuck#but its hitting me how sora describes naminé leaving the island#'one day she was just gone. my parents tried explaining it to me but i was little so i didnt understand'#and like even knowing naminé was there in castle oblivion i was like 'oh Fuck did this girl die and baby sora didnt understand it'#and then riku in bbs talking abt a kid who left the islands for good but he doesnt know any of the specifics#add in the whole 'ansem + terra giving hope of escape to xehanort + riku'#n i think its really neat how theres a whole ominous mythology abt leaving destiny islands#and then for the destiny trio specifically entry + exit to the islands is characterised by apocalypse#what with kairi coming there after rg fell and them all leaving in kh1#and specifically im captivated by the image of sora + riku on their raft in ddd#where even when they set out to leave the island and they did it on their own terms (raft)#it was with the knowledge that the place was going to go to hell#i heart the vaguely cursed islands
