Jedi Knights refusing to have padawans in the same way that young adults in awful, hostile places refuse to have children.
#ch posts#star wars#its about not wanting to raise a child just to see them suffer#especially during the clone wars i wouldnt be surprised if there were knights beyond just anakin who didn't want to have a padawan#i mean look obiwan got to be a padawan as long as he was because there wasn't a war#and then anakin's a knight for like 6 weeks maybe a 3 months max#and a good portion of that is spent in war#and then what? he gets a padawan who's super young to start out#and her entire padawanhood is literal warfare#the older Jedi masters might be less implicitly aware of this#the way people in my parents' gen and older dont realize that#constant recession a housing crisis a slowing economy a pandemic constant gun violence aimed directly at children a shit healthcare system#and rampant bigotries of all kind might not make bringing a child into the world an appealing idea for people my age
