Kavos and Blue making up Snippet
Authors Note : Hope you guys enjoy this one shot of Kavos and Blue making up ! Don't be shy to leave me a comment and like , it motivates me !
Kavos's point of view :
Guilt .
It was an emotion that was incredibly foreign to me and something that I had only felt twice before .
The first time when I gauged out the eyes of Ron in the restaurant and had scared Blue and the second time after I beat up Aztec for harming Blue and she stopped speaking to me .
I wasn't necessarily sorry for my acts , in fact I would probably do them again , but I was sorry for upsetting mate .
Blue was my entire my world , my sole purpose for existing and knowing I had hurt or upset her made my heart squeeze painfully and me feel ... weak. I didn't like feeling weak so therefore I avoided doing anything that would hurt her .
I wondered if she knew the power she had over me .
I knew people saw her as submissive and meek but she had me at the palm of her hands , there was nothing I could deny , I would do anything for her.
She had total control over me.
I belonged to her as much as she belonged to me , maybe even more . Not being in presence was almost crippling , especially if she was angry at me , I couldn't think straight. My only thoughts were of her.
Was she okay ?
What was she doing ?
Was she hurt ?
Would she forgive me ?
I hadn't felt the need to tell her about what I had done to Crystals family , I seen no need to do it as it would cause unnecessary upset to Blue . I had dealt with her and her family in the way that I had seen fit , an eye for an eye if you will .
She insulted my mate and tried to imply Blue was inferior due to her skin tone and I had slaughtered every single member of her family and cursed them to enteral fire .
Honestly, I don't think I reacted any different to what any other man would have done .
Blue was perfection in my eyes , the embodiment of flawless ness and was the beauty standard that I believed everyone should model themselves off . My wife was a literal goddess amongst these creatures and she was deserved to be treated with the upmost respect .
Her spotless dark skin , large brown eyes and kinky curls made her the most beautiful woman I had ever encountered.
Her beauty and grace should never be questioned and therefore I gave that little blood sucking bitch exactly what she deserved.
However , it had been four days since I had seen Blue and it was getting harder and harder to stay away . I had given her space , more than enough time to get over her feelings and forgive me despite the fact I wanted to demand that she stop being childish and get over it .
I wanted to tell her I didn't regret it and I would do it again but this time prolong the process and torture them all individually, nobody disrespected my family and got away with it . But I was learning and trying to be a good husband who was understanding and knew the importance of giving your partner space and all the other stupid things that Aztec drilled into my head .
Blue belonged to me and I didn't see why I had to give her space , she was mine and she needed to be by my side consistently and these days apart were ridiculous.
I was very very annoyed at Zia for spilling my secret , especially in the manner she had done as if I was some vicious monster that would hurt her because of what I had done to Crystal .
She was my daughter for godsake, I wouldn't harm a hair on her or her brothers head , despite the fact they were all equally annoying and whiney. I tried to be the best father I could , I taught them how to harness their powers and defend themselves, I turned up to all their silly school parent - teacher meetings ( even though the teachers didn't dare say anything negative about them in fear of me ) and provided for them .
I left most of the other parenting duties to Blue , she was a born parent with great maternal instincts but I was still around and cared for my children . I just didn't spout out that I loved them 24/7 but they knew that so for Zia to act like that , I was not only angry but disappointed and upset .
I was also aware of the fact that something behind the scenes was going on , there was no way she could have just stumbled upon that information . Someone had told her purposely and I would eventually get it out of them and of course , kill them for causing me grief .
~~~~~~~~ I teleported back into the house , determined to see Blue and walked into the kitchen she was sat listening to Gabriel and Ivan talk about something . Even though she feigned interest I could tell her mind was elsewhere and I took in her appearance.
She had dark circles around her eyes , she wore one of t shorts that came down to her knees and some ratty jogging bottoms and her leg was shaking anxiously .
She wasn't okay .
"And he was thre-" Ivan immediately cut off from his story as I walked into the room , his eyes widened in surprised .
Ivan really was a mixture of both Blue and I in the looks department, his skin a tawny very light brown colour , his mother's hair and eyes but with my height and jawline . He was definitely our problem child , always getting into trouble and being incredibly mischievous which was a trait he picked up from Aztec no doubt .
Gabriel was the spitting image of me with his olive tone skin that matched mine , sharp jaw? Soft blond hair and height but he had his mother's large caramel coloured eyes . Gabriel was the most serious out of his siblings , all action and no nonsense and determined to make us proud.
The only child that was missing was Zia which is something I would be getting to the bottom of .
"I need to speak to your mother" I declared , the double meaning of them needing to leave evident .
"Of course" Gabriel nodded , getting up immediately.
Ivan looked wryly at his mother before saying " Mom , I- "
"It's fine sweetie , go with Gabe" Blue interrupted, giving his hand a squeeze.
From the corner of my eye , I saw Gabriel wince at the nickname before leaving his room with a reluctant Ivan in tow.
"So, have you forgiven me yet ?" I asked , my eyebrows raised .
"Like I have much choose" Blue snorted , bitterness lacing her tone .
"Meaning ?"
"The mate bond makes it impossible for me to be really angry at you , I-it makes me miss you and" Her eyes welled up with tears as she took a shaky break " It makes me weak"
"Weak? There's nothing about you that is weak Blue"
"Of course you'd say that" She snorted , roughly wiping her tears with the back of her hand .
Seeing her tears made my heart physically ache , I needed to make her feel better and now .
"You are the mate of the ruler of this world , you were hand crafted by the Gods themselves to be able to reign me in . What I did to Crystal and her family was on the first few days of knowing you, I was a different person back then. I hadn't been infected with your kindness , love and compassion . I was weak. I ruled with emotion only , only seeing vengeance as an answer but you've taught me so much more than taht . I've not killed like that since that day , you've changed me . I no longer get Aztec to kill and get rid of enemies and it's because of you . How can you label yourself as weak when you've changed how I view and run the world singlehandedly . You're helping me slowly redeem my soul back , yoire making me good and in time making me worthy of your love " I explained passionately , clutching her hands .
"Do you mean that ?" She breathed out , her tone shaky .
"Of course I do . Blue , you've done more for this world than you can imagine. So don't ever put yourself down when you are a true hero"
"A-and do you regret it ? Hurting her whole family like that "
"No" I answered honestly.
"What ?" Blue jerked away from me , her eyes shining in hurt " Itvwas wrong"
"Wrong ? No . Excessive ? Yes . I did what I felt was best to protect you , they wouldn't have let me just killing her go unanswered for . They would have come after you and I eliminated the problem . I would handle it slightly different if I had the chance but I don't regret it" I replied honestly.
I could have easily lied to her and said I do but I didn't want that type of relationship with her , I wanted her to know every part of me and love every part as much as I did her .
She mulled over my words for a few minutes before saying "Okay. I forgive you but I want you to tell me everything , all the bad things you've done so I don't get any more nasty surprises"
"And do you know where Zia heard that from ?"
"No , I have no idea. Speaking of , she went over to Ravens house really late last night she said and she's not answered any of my messages. I think maybe we should go and take a visit to Ms. Reid and Margret , see what's going on. She's looked so stressed these last few days" Murmured Blue , chewing her lip anxiously .
"Let's go " I agreed instantly, getting a very bad feeling .
Something was going on with Zia and I was about to find out what
THE END .
Can I have something during the uprising arc? Where Kenny goes after Levi's civilian s/o (who he tried desperately to keep secret so no one would go after her) and uses her as leverage against Levi. Levi obvi very angry and all and gets her to safety somehow and is guilty taht shes in this mess bc of him. She assures him that none of it was his fault and that he saved her. Maybe some fluff at the end after that tense and scary situation?
A/N: This request kept me up at night, I rewrote it so many times trying to get it right. Sorry it took so long 😅
𝑺𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒓 ❤️
The last thing Levi had expected to wake up to was Y/N unconscious, gagged and tied to a chair in her own home no less. The sharp throbbing of his temple prevented him from being able to fully focus on their surroundings. He could barely remember what had led to either of them being tied up. In fact, this was the first time he’d seen his lover since he and his squad had been forced to hideout in the cabin. An ominous feeling makes itself at home in his gut, he should have known she’d somehow get dragged into this mess. Try as he might to keep their relationship as secretive as possible it obviously hadn’t been good enough. Y/N starts to stir slowly gaining consciousness, the ropes binding her wrists quickly have her tugging against them. Levi can hear her breathing fast and hard through her nostrils as she notes the cloth tied around her mouth acting as a gag. The panicked whimper in her throat stabs at his heart, she was in danger because of him. Slowly, she realizes there’s another person in the room with her. Her eyes widen with momentary relief at seeing Levi, he grimaces as he watches her expression quickly pass from confusion to shock and then horror. She can’t help but start to hyperventilate as the reality of the situation dawns on her. Levi quietly hushes her trying to prevent her from having a full blown panic attack.
“Calm down Y/N please! I’m going to get us out of here but you need to stay calm.” Her eyes express everything she can’t say, he knew asking her to calm down was almost ridiculous given that Y/N had never been put in a position like this before.
“Do you trust me?” It takes her a minute to slow her breathing but she nods, her eyes pleading with him to save them. He wasn’t sure how they were going to make it out given that their captor hadn’t made an appearance yet. Almost as if he’d jinxed it, a series of loud footsteps were making their way towards them.
“Finally awake now huh? Took you long enough.” Kenny’s dry laugh grates against Levi’s ears. He hadn’t expected to ever run into the older man ever again, not after being abandoned. Kenny stalks towards Y/N her gaze flickering back and forth between Levi and their captor.
“I gotta tell you kid, when I heard you were dating some civilian tramp I almost shit bricks.” Stopping behind Y/N, her e/c orbs wide and unblinking with fear as he pulls out a knife dragging it across her arm until it reached her neck.
“But they were right! Not bad for a runt, such a shame I’m gonna have to kill her though.” Her eyes are glued to the knife pressing uncomfortably against her pulse.
“Don’t fucking touch her!” Levi growls his arms struggling to pull against his own restraints, his actions only making Kenny snort.
“Let’s have a little fun then huh? You tell me where the titan kid and the girl are and in exchange and I let her go.” Levi’s eyes meet hers, she was obviously terrified but despite that she shakes her head as much as she can with Kenny’s fingers tightly gripping her hair. Leave it to Kenny to pull some fucked up stunt like this, making him choose between the future of their world or his girlfriend. A quick slash to her cheek ignites a fire in his blood as he watches the crimson liquid drip down her skin.
“We don’t have all day kid! Start talking or I start slicing her up.” Y/N shouts out incoherent words against the gag, her eyes narrowing coldly at Kenny. Levi mind races as he looks for anything that will give him an opening, her eyes bore into his trying to communicate something telepathically. Keeping his expression cool his fingers run along the leg of the table, his heart pounding when he feels the handle of a small blade tapped to it. He couldn’t get it loose without catching Kenny’s attention, meaning that either Y/N was going to have to distract him or they’d have to pray for a miracle.
“I’m not telling you shit” Levi spits out using the sound of Y/N’s muffled scream to rip the knife free, dropping it into his palm. He suppresses the urge to vomit at the sight of her white shirt becoming stained with red.
“You’d really sacrifice this girl to protect those kids?” Kenny’s taunt digs into his gut. A loud knock coming from the front door causes all three of them to still.
“Expecting someone?” Y/N shakes her head her breathing picking up with anticipation. Another series of loud banging makes Kenny cautiously approach the front door. Levi quickly frees his wrists moving to untie Y/N from the chair.
“Finally listened to me huh?” Quirking an eyebrow he waves the blade in front of her face she rolls her eyes.
“Not now, how the fuck are we going to get out of here?” She whispers, her heart pounding agains her rib cage.
“Just trust me.” They hold their breath as the front door closes and Kenny’s footsteps march down the hall. Catching him off guard Levi swings the chair from behind Kenny knocking him to the ground, grabbing her hand Levi bolts down the hall ripping the front door open and running into the street. Her lungs are burning and the cut on her arm throbs painfully, the only thing keeping her running is the firm grip on her wrist.
Having no other choice he brings her back to the cabin, for now it was the only safe place she could go and he preferred keeping her close to protect her. Ignoring the gawking expressions of his squad he leads Y/N back to his room, setting her down on the bed before going into the bathroom to fetch a first aid kit. She hisses as he swabs alcohol over the cut on her arm before wrapping it in bandages, hoping it won’t scar.
“I’m sorry, this is my fault” He mumbles the sight of her marred skin only adding to his self-loathing. Her hand cups his jaw tilting his head up to meet her gaze.
“It’s okay Levi, there’s nothing to apologize for” he gapes at her smile. He couldn’t comprehend how she wasn’t screaming at him, blaming him for getting her killed. The sensation of her lips against his makes him pause. How could she still love him after what he put her through? He didn’t deserve it. Using her two hands to cup his jaw she changes the angle deepening their kiss.
“I love you Levi, stop feeling guilty please” The light stroking of her fingers against his cheek makes him lean into her touch. His hands grip the sides of her shirt pulling her tightly against his chest. There was no going back now, he couldn’t keep her in the shadows any longer but it only motivated him to be stronger. If he couldn’t keep his own future safe how was he supposed to save the rest of the world?
Later that night long after she’d fallen asleep Levi was still awake, listening to the strong beating of her heart to confirm that she was still with him. His eyes eventually grow heavy as the adrenaline high from earlier crashes leading to him fall asleep to the rhythmic thumping from her chest.
alrighty! im gonna talk about my two new dr!ocs and some updates on sheon’s whole thing. remember they don’t have names yet adkaljasdkfa
SURVIVOR: the ultimate jazz singer.
as mentioned, she’s the ultimate jazz singer. pretty subdued personality, but she’s the type of jazz singer who would just. scream into a microphone a la screamin jay hawkins. she is pretty neutral/friendly but disconnected in the prologue/first chapter/second chapter. she gets more jittery as the interactions go on. but once you get to the post-fte section of chapter two, that night she actually tries to kill the protag. at this point its revealed her big Angsty Backstory is she got involved with drugs through the music scene and is currently suffering withdrawal symptoms and is Super desperate (something ive seen a lot with my co-musicians and its not good) big breakdown, really delirious, will eventually be talked off the ledge and calmed down. kind of like if sayaka was actually calmed down in thh chap 1
just so happens that during the night whoopsy someone else was killed. so you two have an alibi but to reveal it means you tell everyone about her issues. either there might be a lying feature like in drv3 to cover, or you tell the truth and end up isolating her. for chapter three and most of four she will keep her distance from the protag bc she’s uncomfortable but will eventually reach out to be friends again after chap 4 execution.
is generally pretty useful during trials, tends to be a person who tries to help calm down more emotional students and look at things logically. is good at trying to calm down the blackened once the protag catches their bluff bc she understands what its like to be desperate. she does, however, cry during/after every punishment. tells others not to speak poorly of their executed classmates.
she compulsively chews gum, and one of her favorite gifts would be gum. jokes about having an oral fixation. during school mode she might joke about singing love songs but being so awkward about it in real life. really likes dogs, has a dog plushie in her room.
a first two fte will focus on her health/wellbeing. the third she’ll ask to not talk about that anymore and the next three are just about general stuff. the final one she’ll basically go a little further into detail but the moral of her story is like, she’s not a bad person for doing what she did, no one is. she’s just a person. and it cn happen to anymore.
dresses in clothes more inspired by late mod/early 70s fashion. hoestly im seeing like a turtleneck/pantsuit combo. short curly hair. big heavy under eyelashes.
MASTERMIND: the ultimate drag racer (ultimate cruiser)
ok but I LOVE him. personality wise he’s the story’s anxious character, think closer in personality to chap 1 shuichi. quiet, skittish, easily flustered, sometimes cracks jokes that fall flat. he’s framed for the chap 1 murder (someone died in a go kart accident, its assumed he sabotaged the other car, his argument is why would he kill someone in a race in front of all his classmates?) the protag obviously works hard to prove he’s innocent. after the execution he makes a promise to the protag that he owes him one big time, and while it seems innocent at the time, the wording should have like. a slight suspicious undertone.
he’ll investigate weirder areas of the school instead of practical (sometimes he has clues sometimes not) and if there’s ever a mechanical question for a trial, you’ll generally ask him for clarification. he’s not very trusting of others and is often the one to accuse others/bring the information learned in trials back into the real world and make a big deal out of it. for example, he’ll make a big deal about the attempted murder in chap 2, and he’s the one who’s constantly accusing sheon of being a traitor
at first he seems like he’s just anxious, but obviously, he’s the mastermind, and he’s trying to tear the group apart.
his fte he’s awkward the first few times but he opens up slowly, showing actual comfort/joy around the protag. wants to be close friends. offers to take protag go karting. while their personality is pretty awkward most of the time, there are flashes of an adrenaline junky every now and then especially when talking about cars, where he seems so full of life and drive it’s almost scary. very competitive during these times, his determination almost taking a sadistic glee when talking about beating others. of course he explains it as his cutthroat sport, but ya know...mastermind. instead of saying we’re going to survive he says we’re going to win. friendly towards the others but doesn’t really care about them focused on protag. is consciously trying to seperate protag from sheon.
for a mastermind he’s actually quite the empath and grows attached to his classmates, which he actually takes pleasure in the amount of despair he feels after each of their executions. reason behind the game is the adrenaline rush he feels, never has felt more alive than on despair. he discovered the rush the first time he got in a car accident, and the moments before his crash where like pure bliss. he wanted to let everyone else feel his feverish joy, and talks about how everyone has enjoyed this, deep down. they’re all getting their sick kicks. breaks the fourth wall and alludes to the fact that the protag (through the player) is having the most fun of all.
final trial where it’s revealed, he’s still v attached to the protag in like an almost yandere way and wants to follow up on the favor he owes from chap 1. he offers a deal to the protag where if they’re welcome to be their accomplice in all this and get out of the game. protag should push to bargain that everyone can give up their morals, sacrifice themselves to despair, and live as the mastermind’s accomplice in exchange for ending the killing game.
eventually, he’ll agree, but only if the group decides one life among them to sacrifice for no other reason than to kill an innocent friend. the way to get to the correct ending is to choose yourself which will like invalidate the deal. protag ends up dying and everyone else lives. leaves the mastermind in a despair, but for the first time, he does not derive any pleasure.
takes a LOT OF GLEE in admitting he convinced everyone else sheon was the traitor when she was not, everyone else is horrified.
anyways. his school mode/love mode events show his more likeable side, he can actually be a really cute partner if it weren’t for the part he’s evil but uh. soft sometimes.
really likes energy drinks. talks about sponsorships. color scheme is like. a black racing suit but his jacket is tied around his waist and he’s wearing a wife beater. tons of accents of neon all over his outfit from like patches and brand deals. backwards hat. blushes easily. has a mullet. i love him.
“TRAITOR” : SHEON FUKUDA (the ultimate film maker)
ok so. still antagonistic. but more in the way of pushing your buttons and pointing out your flaws in a trial. like somewhere between antagonist and kirigiri. super chill personality, cracks a lot of jokes, is hardcore struggling with the games and will be open about her mental illness. her fatal flaw is still her martyr complex
is first framed after chap 2 bc of accused of having the ability to direct and oversee a production like this, and from that moment forward no one can trust her and she’s SUPER alienated. she’s still awkwardly trying to be friends/friendly but people act like she’s going to betray them all. tries to prove innocence multiple times going as far as to beginning of chap 3 announce to the group if they need to kill anyone, let it be her so no one else gets hurt and is super transparent about who she is. but this transparency makes people more suspicious. as she goes on she gets more desperate/gallows humor. last convo bfore chap 5 begins she has a vague conversation about with protag about if they fear death. chap 5 would end up being either a suicide or double murder (they killed each other one in attack the other while being defended against) so there’s no execution but monokuma still wants something. its also in this trial that the ultimate drag racer plants evidence taht makes it look like she’s the traitor and is addressed head on.
a common motif for her is ‘playing the role assigned’ and knowing who she is and who she isn’t. she’s pretty comfortable knowing who she is but expresses unhappiness about being painted a villain. maybe like, three times through the story to this point it’s established as a motif/quirk of fitting a role she’s assigned bc if the protag asks her a question about herself/past/the overall story, she asks the protag a question like well, what do you want 1) 2) and you choose and she’s like. ok. then its _______. same thing here. as she’s finally excused she stares at the protag and is like do you really believe im the traitor? (yes) stares long and hard, somethng sad and defeated in her eyes. ok then. i am.
the trial doesn’t have a punishment originally planned bc the blackened are not alive. but she chooses not to vote and willingly chooses to be punished because everyone else has decided she’s the traitor and she chooses to play along so they can get closure. her last conversation should be about choosing the act of resistance, no matter how convoluted it can be. she doesn’t fear death. the pain sure, but not death. this was her choice to be punished, not the masterminds, and she hopes they lose any glee they take in her suffering because its a sacrifice for hope instead of a death in despair. last request is that she asks for the protag to make sure the manuscripts she wrote during her time are published, the last great work of sheon fukuda.
EXECUTION: CULTURE SHOCK so she wakes up on a soundstage to blinding light. she’s attached with electrodes. monokuma is sitting on a director’s chair with a director’s hat. basically the premise is as the ultimate film maker, she has to recreate different iconic movie scenes and every time she makes a mistake she gets shocked. she keeps on getting thrown into new scenes into the middle of old ones, throwing her off. after a sequence of costume changes/farces she finally collapses in the soundstage.
beat. she looks up. above the soundstage is a sign that says “congratulations” or something. everyone gasps. she believes she beat it. a single light comes on in center stage prompting her to take a bow. she stumbles over, stands up, and looks into the shadows in the general direction of her classmates. a teleprompter prompts her classmates to clap. she takes glee, soaking in her win, and bows. as she comes up she smiles for a second before a short rings out. she’s shot through the heart. culture shock!
fte are mostly talking about directors/film references and what its like to be a film maker. real dry humor, sometimes talks about deeper stuff. her backstory is that her dad was working for an american embassy so she grew up in america going to art shool, and she feels out of place, despite being a japanese student with the same basic culture as everyone else. sometimes talks about slimeball directors, sometimes talks about missing certain food, loves takling about movies. as a filmmaker she specializes in dark comedy/farce which makes her suspicious of how someone can enjoy writing somethng so twisted
views are very intersectional, a little new agey, but still well put together. clearly a free spirit, very quirky from working in cinema, super dry sense of humor. likes philosophy
really likes blueberry jam. favorite item is somthing blueberry.
after chap 1 trial she expresses to the protag how she can never be the blackened, not just because of murdering one student, but to get away with it, everyone else would be punished instead, and she can’t deal with the blood on her hands.
is open about her struggles with mental illness and how she was getting help and showing improvement bfore coming here but now she feels herself spiraling and hates it.
values everyone here as good friends, and while she tries to play it off she hates how they’re painting her as a villain. takes every death very personally.
color scheme is very pastel, and she wears sweat pants and a collared shirt with a light blue robe. you can’t tell if those are pajamas or an outfit. wears rose-colored glasses. all about the aesthetic, just lean so far into film culture with her. personality/feelings towards style are very influenced by the fact she went to an american arts school instead of a japanese school like her peers so every part of her is slightly off/quirky/out-of-touch
she’ll mostly wear the glasses over her eyes, sometimes pushing them down on her nose for emphasis to make eye contact. only her anger sprite (point) shows her taking them off.
during her execution she pushes them onto her forehead before taking her bow, almost to meet eye to eye. after she’s shot the last frame is them landing on the ground, cracking.
i love sheon so much
Balance. [ Chuck Hansen x Reader ]
Summary: You put the facts straight and claim what’s yours. Sweet, sweet love.
Pairing: Chuck Hansen x Reader
Warnings: None. Unless, veing approached by an unknown guy counts.
The Y/L/N twins. You and your twin brother were pilots of the sleek Cipher Scythe. You held the world record of the fast Kaiju kill in history. And he knew. When he first heard that you were arriving, all he saw was competition. It angered him.
But, you were the complete opposite of what he had expected. You were humble and kind and loving. And, it threw Chuck off his rails.
Since the day you had walked in, Chuck knew he was a goner. He had hid it, under all of those layers of arrogance. It wasn’t just the fact that you were beautiful, but the way you carried yourself. You were a paradox. And, Chuck was in awe.
He had seen firsthand what havoc you and your brother could wreck in the oceans. Swift and deadly. Yet, when you descended from your jaeger, there was not a hint of pride on your face. There was just relief. He remembered subtly scowling. But then, you spotted him and his father.
He’ll never forget the way your face lit up. Next thing he knew, he could feel his lip twitching.
“Hey, Hansens, right? You both are real famous.”
Herc smiled, “Your not bad yourself, kiddo.”
Chuck puffed his chest and sneered, “We have the highest kill record in history.”
Unfazed, you grinned at him, “Ofcourse you do. Your girl’s a beaut and a beast.”
Chuck sputtered at your response.
That’s how he had met you almost a year and a half ago. Now, here you both were. Best friends. Countless battles, late nights and inside jokes later. Everyone on base knew the pair of you. Yin and Yang, they called you.
You were currently goofing around with Max as Chuck was off to find coffee.
“Which one do you prefer, Max? Star Trek or Star Wars?”
He just licked you as an answer. You chuckled, “Yeah, I can’t choose one either.”
A foreign voice spoke up from behind you, “I’d choose you.”
You immediately stood up, “Excuse me?”
“Why are you with him?”
“Look, stranger, I don’t know who you’re talking about, but, don’t ever do that again.”
The man took a step towards you, “You’re so polite and humble. He’s the exact opposite of you. I might be new here but, i know you deserve better. And i am that better.”
You stopped him by raising a hand, “Don’t take another step. And, wow, cocky much? I’m not interested. I also have my limits, next time i won’t be so polite.”
“He’s an asshole!”
“She told you to back off, so you better back off.”
You turned back to see the handsome Australian. His gaze held rage and it was pointed right at the man. Chuck took purposeful steps towards you. You knew he had every intention to start a fight, right here, right now. For you. You heart skipped a beat at that.
You shook your head at him, and lightly touched his arm, “He’s not worth the effort. It’s okay.”
At that, Chuck’s body visibly relaxed. His eyes softened as he looked at you and nodded.
The pilot threatened, “If i ever see you approach her, I will beat your face in.”
The two of them turned to walk off away from the rude man when you suddenly stopped and whipped around and spat, “He may be an asshole, but he’s my asshole.”
Chuck looked at you in surprise. You rarely got this mad and to this extent. Tho, he blushed furiously when the words registered. Leaving the man fuming behind, you two wandered around the base.
“Damn, the guy got on my nerves. But, everyone does. Didn’t think you would say that last sentence.” He smirked teasingly.
Now, it was your time to blush. Pointing an accusing finger at him, you said, “I was being brutally honest back there. You’ve rubbed off on me.”
He rolled his eyes, “Good. That’s good. You’ll finally quit your sunshine attitude.”
Oh please, need I remind you how many fights I’ve bailed you out of? Or how many times I’ve fixed you after you had a fight?”
“Yeah, yeah. I get your point, jeez. But the fault was-“
You gave him your trademark glare. It effectively made him change the course.
“-only occasionally mine.”
You laughed at that and Chuck’s stomach erupted with butterflies.
He mumbled, “But, it’s true. I am your asshole.”
At this point, your heart thundered. Your head whipped towards him as you put out a hand to stop him. He held your gaze as your searched his eyes for any sign. Any sign that he was teasing. Any sign that he didn’t mean it. But all those beautiful blue eyes held was sincerity.
You grabbed him by his t-shirt and tugged Chuck towards you. You felt so many things as soon as your lips met. One of your hands went up in his hair and the other on his neck.
Chuck didn’t waste any time responding. He felt like his body erupted with fireworks. One of his hands caressed your cheek and the other pulled you closer by your waist. He had only ever dreamt about this moment.
The tongues clashed and you felt him smile. Chuckling, you pulled away. Chuck whinned lowly at that that which just made you grin more.
He whispered, “God, that was perfect.”
“I absolutely agree.”
He leaned towards you, his forehead resting against yours, “When i first met you, your created a conflict inside me. One part of me wanted to keep you at arms length cause you were so bubbly, so excited all the time. And i just couldn’t figure out why or how. But, you, Y/N made that impossible. You brightened up my days and you made me feel. You made me feel alive. I fell in love with you, Y/N/N.”
You played with the hair at the nape of his neck, “I made you my project you know. At the beginning. Try and get this grumpy, arrogant guy off his high horse. But, I discovered taht you are so much more than that. And, as the days progressed, you just drew me in. And, i don’t know how or when, but i fell in love with you, too, Chuck. I fell in love with you too.”
The love reflected in both of your smiles as you kissed sweetly.
Herc bent down to scratch Max and whispered to him, “Good lord, finally.”
VR: Uncooked meat and peace treaties
Masterpost
Here we get a bit of insight to the kini mind. They really aren’t human despite what Mimi likes to think. The scene takes place about 2 years after Mimi lands in Tagor, and somewhere around a year after she’s granted the ceremonial title of gon’ga, something like an ambassador. The border they keep referring to is the border between Tir countryside and the forest the kinis live in. It’s there to keep the humans from logging the forest and the kinis from killing humans.
--
”...aren’t you going to cook it?” Marsohu started chewing the bird and only looked at me puzzled. Guess that answered that question. ”...you’ll get worms.” Worms? ”Uncooked meat has all kinds of of… uhh… I don’t know the word… bacteria and parasites, you know, tiny animals taht cause diseases.” He peeks in the bird’s severed neck to see these tiny animals.
”You can’t see them, they’re too small.” He doesn’t believe anything that small can do anything. And just kept on munching on his bird. Unfathomably disgusting. No wonder his breath stank like the end of days. All the kini probably died in their thirties. Marsohu was fast approaching the end of his life. ”How old are you?” He’s young. ”I mean how many years. I’m 18.” He doesn’t understand what a ”year” is. ”Well, umm… If you were born two years ago, you’d be two years old. When were you born?” He doesn’t know. He was born when he was born. Wow. His mother had a head full of air. Maybe she had caught a brain disease from uncooked meat. ”What about Joyjaa?” He’s an adult. ”So… 18?” Adult. Try and make sense of that. Joyjaa was so not 18, maybe 26. Marsohu looked a little younger than his cousin, around 22 or so. I would probably have to ask Joyjaa, maybe I could get an actual answer out of him. And out loud. Telepathy still felt odd, and if I didn’t know to expect it, it was difficult to tell what where my own thought and what was being sent from the outside. The bird’s bones cracked in Marsohu’s mouth. I couldn’t suppress the shudder. He noticed, but thought it meant I wanted his leftovers. ”No thanks!” I squeeked and instantly leaned backwards from the bloody bundle being shoved into my face. ”Frankly, I can’t wrap my head around how you aren’t all dead with your diet”, I muttered in English. Marsohu’s ears swiveled towards me, he liked English more than Tagor. I guess he heard it more often. Or I mean, of course he heard it more often, these days even I only used English when I didn’t know the Tagor word. Sometimes simply because Marsohu liked it. Those times he paid more attention to me than usually. He avoided looking me in the eye, but then again, that is a sign of aggression in the animal kingdom. He used to look me directly in the eyes the first times we met. Back then he hadn’t liked me even though he had been curious. He’d been trying to scare me. I wonder if he had been confused when I had stared right back? What else did they do the opposite way to humans? ”Hey, Marsohu, what kind of houses do you live in?” They don’t have houses. ”So, you live in…. nests, dig a small hole in the ground?” Yes. But closer to the mountains there’s an old village , abandoned, with houses. ”A village? Did humans used to live here?” Humans have never lived in the forest. Kinis built it, a long time ago. Some of the houses still stand. ”Why was it abandoned?” He doesn’t know. Well of course. He barely knows anything. Maybe the kinis had tried to copy humans, try out their lifestyle, but it hadn’t suited them. Marsohu would like to show me the village, but it’s not a good idea. Humans aren’t welcome in the forest. ”But I’m already in the forest”, I pointed out. Well, I was metre in the forest, but that still counted. The border was unconditional. Not even Ritidia was allowed a toe over the line. And even that is too much. I had only gotten so far because I had proven myself to be submissive and respectful, I was absolutely harmless. ”Absolutely?!” I protested. Yeah, it was true that I was weak, slow, light, small, ignorant and without a spark of magic, but he didn’t need to put it like that! ”I do have some authority! I am a princess after all!” The only one around here gives a damn about the ”authority” of humans is Joyjaa, who doesn’t respect it all. Jotiri was peeking in b etween the trees with a concerned look. He believed me one I said everything was fine, but almost looked disappointed about it. He really had a bone to pick with the kinis, and all they did was live in the vicinity of his family, who by the way had moved there only three years ago. It was embarrassing that I was never let anywhere alone. Marsohu had long since showed he much preferred me alive, and didn’t even twitch his ear at Jotiri’s direction. That if anything proved that he didn’t consider Jotiri a threat. I had been to the forest dozens of times, and had yet to witness a single scuffle. If you asked me, I’d say the stories about the superiority of kinis were mostly tall tales, and the humans had just grown up believing them without scrutiny. ”Would you beat Jotiri in a fight?” Yes. He hadn’t hesitated a millisecond. ”I don’t know… He’s pretty good.” Famfara was demonstrably even better, but even she did her best to look humble and non-threatening around the kinis. ”He might put up a surprisingly good fight.” The border is unconditional. ”Well give him a special permission this once, like me.” The border is unconditional. ”You bore!” I stuck out my tongue at him, but the message missed him completely. ”How can it be unconditional if I’m here?” The border is only for humans and kinis. I’m something else. ”I was human the last time I looked in a mirror.” Marsohu looked at me for a long time with an appraising look. He avoided my eyes, of course. I liked his eyes, they were such a brilliant color and since they were so big, you could see it so clearly. But I didn’t want to offend him, so I kept my thoughts to myself. He barked a laugh. ”What?” Without answering he changed to his hyena form and started climbing up the nearest tree, wanting me to follow. I was never the climbing type, and the thick, branchless trunk of this tree made it really difficult. I went slower than a snail, and finally he got tired of watching me suffer and offered a hand. The human hand extending from the arm of a hyena looked just bizarre. He lifted me up to the first branch, after which things got way easier. I steadfastly kept my eyes upwards, refusing to even think about coming down before it was time. We climbed and climbed, almost to the top. The tree was incredibly tall, standing at least two metres taller than all the others around. The view was amazing. Harvest season was nearly there so all the fields flashed golden in the wind, behind the snow capped mountains starts were already forming, and far, far in the distance, the sea burned bright as fire in the sunset. I hadn’t even noticed it was getting that late. All the colours were just breathtaking, the black sky blending into indigo, the sun dyeing the clouds a deep purple, above the ocean pink and orange. I’m not like a human. ”On what grounds?” A human builds. Doesn’t see the sun, doesn’t see the ocean. Marsohu gestured towards the town, on my left, with his muzzle. I tried to see it, but from this far away I could only see a colorful spot. ”We need a home, too”, I reminded. ”Humans can’t survive in a simple cave, eating raw meat.” Again he looked at me long. Maybe like a human after all. ”There’s nothing wrong about that”, I argued, but Marsohu could be stupidly stubborn and selfish. He simply would not understand that his lifestyle wasn’t for everyone. I looked at the ocean again. You couldn’t see it from the town because there was a slight upwards slope all along the coastline. There were no beaches in Tagor, only cliffs. I wasn’t a beach type of person, but it would have been nice to go watch the sunset sometime. Tir was pretty far from the coast, but I was sure I could take two days off sometime in the future. I would probably need to leave early in the afternoon to make it in time. My work wasn’t viewed as important, anyway, unfortunately no one would care. Not even the kini, I suspected. I was just a novelty for Marsohu and Joyjaa. I turned to say something to him, I wasn’t even sure what, but he had changed back to human and was watching me with a gentle look. I smiled weakly and turned back. We stayed quiet until the sun sunk behind the ocean and Jotiri started calling for me. Time to go. Had been for hours. ”Coming!” My descent was, if possible, even slower than my climbing. I didn’t dare to take a proper look so it took ages to feel around for proper footing. Marsohu laughed at my pathetic display while skipping with ease from brach to branch, and thought I was a positively sorry sight, even more pitiful than his youngest sister. I was so pissed at him I didn’t even ask why he used his human form so rarely on the ground – evidently his ”problems with balance” were utter horse shit. After what felt like an hour I made it to the lowest branch. I considered jumping down, but despite being the lowest, it was still at least four metres up. I couldn’t get a proper grip on the trunk, so sliding down it was out of the question. I didn’t see any other options, though. Marsohu of course smirked at me from the ground. He just loved humiliating me. Jump, he’ll catch. ”For sure?” He nodded and lifted his arms. I dropped down to dangle from the branch, again made sure that he would be there because I would have to punch him if he was messing with me. I let go.
That bitch -- Wheeeeew, the fall had felt so long I was sure he had pranked me. He set me down, and once again I was reminded of how freakishly tall he was. It was so easy to forget since he favored his hyena form so much and usually sat when in human form, but he was a full two metres of bean pole goodness. How he hadn’t fallen over with my weight I had no clue. I hurried over to the concerned Jotiri and waved by to Marsohu. He had changed back to hyena again, only his eyes shining in the middle of the blackness of the forest. ”See you later!” I hollered and closed the door the buggy. Jotiri worked hard to break the speed limit, and didn’t slow down until we were halfway to town. ”With all due respect, but I think it’s a bad idea to ’see him later’, princess”, he said, uneasy. He was only bodyguard, he was expected to stay out of politics, but his feelings about this particular subject were far too strong to ignore. ”I’m the ambassador, I have to keep up the relations”, I reminded. What kind of ambassador just sits at home twiddling her thumbs? Not my kind of ambassador. I wasn’t content to let this terrible canyon stay between our people. ”It wasn’t meant to be literal, it was just to appease them”, he claimed. He was concerned about me, everyone was. No one trusted the kinis. The ambassador was supposed to just be a half-baked peace offering – but damn if I wasn’t trying my hardest to ruin that. ”They’ve been restless again, despite Ritidia”, he continued with a dark look. ”My family lives near the border -” I already knew that, he mentioned it like once a week - ” I fear for them just as I fear for you. The border in unconditional, I can do nothing to help when you cross it. The kinis stay in the forest just because they know we can do nothing.” With a very serious look he tried to make understand. ”If they kill you in the forest, I can do nothing to stop them. I can’t avenge your death. I can only be your bodyguard on Tagor’s side.” ”Your job is to protect me, you can cross the border if -” ”The border is unconditional, Rititia -” ”Mimi. The border is only unconditional because we’re at war. The sooner I can get a treaty the sooner it will open. We have to show that we’re willing to make peace. I’m already allowed in the forest – how’s that for unconditional? If I can continue like this, I can get us a better treaty.” He looked skeptical, but at least he didn’t argue again. Both sides in this prolonged war were self-destructively bullheaded! I doubted either one wanted an actual peace. Why did everyone have to be so bloody selfish?! The border is unconditional, what an idiotic settlement!
