The reason this fandom hates IDW Optimus isn't because he's a cop (plenty of people are fine with Prowl) or because he's a bastard (most characters in IDW are) but because he commits the crime of being an actual person who's messy, flawed, and makes a shitload of high stakes mistakes fitting for the intense situations and pressure he's put under constantly.

But we can't have Optimus actually react to his situations by lashing out or being unpleasant, no, he has to have the personality of a cardboard cutout of G1 whose only defining personality traits are "dad, funny, nice," and if he ever vents negative emotions it can only ever be #relatable depression or him being sad on his own without ever letting it show during the important parts of the story. If Optimus dares do things like be angry or frustrated or bitter it's just a sign that he's a bastard and LITERALLY the worst Optimus ever. If Optimus ever makes mistakes or does wrong things in the heat of anger/frustration/stress it's because he's just an evil bastard with no redeeming traits.

God forbid Optimus go through an unending gauntlet of war, politics, atrocities, near-complete loneliness, and a seemingly endless cycle of violence for his entire life and come out of it kind of bitter, angry, and tired of dealing with people's shit. He's not allowed to be a realistic person, context doesn't matter, sympathy doesnt matter. IDW Optimus doesn't fulfill the fandom's fantasies of Father Figure or Perfect Cultural Icon or Twinky Fucktoy and since that's the only reason most people care about Optimus in general, the fandom collectively trashes on IDW OP.

All because he can't fit into the overly simplified and childlike double standard the fandom has where if any other character is messy and flawed, that's good writing and interesting and compelling, but if OPTIMUS is messy and flawed, he's Literally The Worst and he's an asshole for no other reason than He Sucks, context be damned

🦸 My Hero Academia (Seasons One Through Five) Review! 🏫

Well, here's a big one! Welcome to a new anime review, everyone! In this one, I'll tackle My Hero Academia, the one and only!

Needless to say, this one doesn't require any introduction, but hey, I'll do it anyway. My Hero Academia is a shonen anime that started airing in 2016. It currently has five completed seasons and three movies, for a total of over 100 episodes.

MHA has established itself as one of the most well-known names in the industry - for both fanboys/fangirls and haters. In this review, I'll only be talking about the stuff that has already aired, so the ongoing sixth season will be for later.

My Hero Academia is fascinating because it's a very... normal anime, in a way. There's no real quirk to it (see what I did there?), just superpowers. But it still works, even if some people would tell you it sucks ass.

The plot's simple: to become the strongest hero in the world and defeat the Big Bad. After that, it's fight after fight, training session after training session - sometimes incredible, sometimes dull. Some arcs are great, others not so much.

S1 felt a bit slow to me, but the show truly peaked in S2, which was excellent. S3 was still very good, and half of S4 was great, but S5 was long and only sometimes entertaining. Still, every season has its good moments.

The first and third movies were quite remarkable, and while the second one looks marvelous visually, the ending sucks and is fanservice at its worst. Their canon-compliance is unclear is annoying since you can't tell precisely when they happen or if they're even important.

Still, the overarching plot is pretty interesting to follow, even if I wish some of the most boring arcs - and villains - were skipped more quickly.

One great strength: the main characters. They might not be the best-written characters ever, but they're an endearing cast I grew fond of. Their dynamics are amusing, and their group development is excellent. Required for a school anime!

The villains are meh, though. A few are memorable, but some are not interesting and make their arcs forgettable - if not outright bad. However, the Big Bad has a decent backstory, so that's something. Hope they make good of it in the future.

One thing MHA excels at is music. The OST is a banger, and some of the action themes sent shivers down my spine, sometimes making up for the plot being silly. That's a fantastic asset for a shonen to have!

I personally loved openings ODD FUTURE and Merry-Go-Round, even if others are good, too. Overall, the OPs and EDs are pleasant to listen to; some get you pumped up!

Visually, this anime has improved tremendously over the years, becoming beautiful to the eyes in the latest seasons. It's colorful, well-animated, and highlights some critical scenes in the anime - and even more so in the movies.

Overall, for all the criticism it got, MHA is still a good anime. Of course, it could be much better, but I mostly enjoyed watching these first five seasons. I just wish they skipped the boring parts!

In seven years, it has earned the status of legendary anime, so I'd be a fool to tell you not to watch it. It has flaws, but you can't not watch an anime such as My Hero Academia. Go make yourself your own opinion and decide if it deserves the critics!

Alright, so i thought about that a summary or short passage about my Au as whole wasn’t enough explanation. Au introduction page was just little so, i wanted to explain more.

Miraculous ladybug reboot is an Au where its a mixture of the original and the concepts but in my own take/version of it. 

Why you made Miraculous Ladybug Reboot?

Am late to the party but, Miraculous Ladybug has been going down hill lately. They continuously ruining characters and milking this series. They think its funny to show Marinette being a creep 24/7. And Adrien clearly have little personality and hardly show him (its really bad now in season 4, though lies show his own screentime.) Worst part, Thomas astruc can’t take criticism and blocks people (am aware some people attacks him for no reason). So i decided to make this that kinda erase the terrible things that happened in Miraculous Ladybug.

About Miraculous Ladybug Reboot

14 years old teenage girl name Marinette Dupain-Cheng was once a normal student at Françoise Dupont Highschool. One day, Marionette was helping with parents by cleaning the attic. Marinette found a music box on the floor. She look around, decided to pick it up, and put it in her pocket. Afterwards, she decided to open the box in the her room, finding black earrings inside. She decided to try on the earrings and suddenly a creature came out of the box. The creature introduced themselves as Tikki and explained those earrings. Afterwards, Marinette decided to become a superhero known as Ladybug.

if the show was really about feminisms, then they show that woman and man equal. Both strong in both ways doesn’t matter. This also includes screentime. 

Removing Marinette's creepiness and suffering.

Her being obsessive creepy stalker is obviously not ok and teaches kids to think that doing this is ok. So am just going remove that, and keep the idea that she have a crush on him.

other thing that’s wrong if the fact they just keep making Marinette suffer and have too much stress for a teenager. She does too much work for hero, does bakery, babysits and etc. The worse of all is making her guardian. because of all this, she had to tell Alya her secret for emotional support (or something else). Am removing this because its too much stress for teen and it makes me think she have suicidal thoughts and just keeping a smile on her face around people. 

Speaking of Guardian...

Marinette will not be a Guardian

Yea, i see nothing good about her being a guardian. If anything it ruins the outcome of the entire point of love square. Even worst, she’ll just forgot Adrien anyway if she quits being guardian.

Not so much heroes

Having too many heroes takes too much time with just saying. You can’t really develop all those heroes at all. So i have shorten it out to only 5.

Chloe actually having a Development

Look idc if a creator makes a character go through Treason arc. However, the way Chloe arc was written, it definitely wasn’t a Treason arc. If anything it looked like a development but the team acting like she never had one.  So am just going to do the bully to antihero to hero arc scenario. 

Lila being a part of the main antagonist

So basically i wanted her to be the one who starts a rival but is truly a villain who secretly hiding something from everyone.

People is not going get akumantized repeatedly as different forms instead some one else get akumantized.

I rather for the person to be akumantized either once or twice. Not the 100th time. It makes hawk moth look like a joke. So i will make it where Hawk Moth would give up the person after once or twice and attempts to find some one who can be strong enough to beat Ladybug or chat noir.

When Hawk moth defeated, there be another main villain.

There be 7 main villains in total. All them deals with controlling some one emotion.  Expect for the last one, which is like the “final” boss of the series. 

Nathalie being anti-villain but still the antagonist

I wanted to see if i can write assistant betraying their boss.  At the same time, being evil just for the sake of their boss.  Sorry gabenath shippers.

Some adults being smart for once.

Can we just agree that most of the adults in this show shares the same braincell awhile all the teenagers are smart? Idk, they just easily gullible to lila’s lie and expel Marinette without any proof or something to know she did it.

There’s not just controlled villains, there’s villains just being villains.

Not every villain is going akumantized, in fact, there will be villains who just evil on their own. They pretty much attack the city and stuff like akumanzatied villains do. This is so that it will balance out the akumanzations.

The villains usually comes in a certain time. Like day, afternoon, noon, or night.

Specials are apart of the story, the heroes will learn something, and the heroes will later will come back.

If the heroes going go to different cities, i want them to at least learn something from it. 

Unifications would not exist for other kwamis, it will only for 2 kwamis only which its definitely not the ladybug or cat miraculous. 

Unifications are op not going lie. There’s no weakness between the powers or weaken the other. The weakness it have is making the user go out of control if consume too many kwamis. I might be wrong though.

 So i will only use it for 2 kwamis only (which is not going be said for right now).

Alya not being a hardcore Adrien x Marinette shipper 

It gets annoying if your bestfriend really wants you and your crush to be together so badly and forces you into uncomfortable spots where your crush is at. Even your friend becomes a hypocrite for a straight minute. I have to erase this so that Alya can be actual friend.

Gay characters that are in relationship actually treated like a relationship instead of a very good best friend thing.

I just want to them actually feel like they in actual relationship.

The guardians mentor their heroes if they have soon experienced enough.

I don’t know, wang fu doesn’t really train anyone or be a good guardian for once. Now he’s gone.

Zoe being an secret agent instead of a hero

Before you call me a zoe hater, i just want to say this. Zoe entire existence doesn’t make sense. She was never mentioned in the show until season 4. Audrey cheating also doesn’t add up either and causes more plot holes. So i made it where zoe is secret agent from new york who was tasked to go France. She lied about being chloe’s half sister (and other things) just so she get near to her mission. Which leads to another villain soon.

Felix not being a cousin nor evil

I don’t like how they made felix evil at all. It just feels like insult for the fans who asked him to be in it in the first place. So i made Felix Adrien's brother whose not evil but just gloomy.

Stormy weather being a separate entity 

I think it will be cool to see her as a separate villain instead of akumantized one.

Some characters will be either changed or deleted.

Characters will be changed since it is a reboot thing, however some may be deleted because i either don’t like them, can’t find a way how to write them, or they seem pointless character in general.

Viperion is still exist but in a different way

There will be types of kwamis. Like animal kwami, mythical kwami, dark kwami, hoilday kwami and corrupted kwami.

There will also be guardian for each type.

As i said eariler, there be more villains with more controlling type powers. 

Daroness

Daroness is faraway villain that is owned by Rodrigue. Hawk moth works there as the chairman, making missions for the villains that works for him. However, he doesn’t akumantize people in this place, he does it in his lair instead. Welp, that’s all for now. Thanks for reading :)

ep 1-5

the plot is actually kinda different from what I thought ?? in my mind the plot was: utena was a girl in a princess school who each and every princess would be "conquered" (for a lack of better words rn) in a ceremonial duel by a prince who fancied them, maybe she didnt wanna wanna marry anyone or she liked Anthy already but anyway in my mind utena showed up in the ceremony with duel clothing and then, in a very brave tm like-scene, she would openly declare she refused to be conquered by anyone and tbh I'm not even sure how Anthy would come into the plot... but back into what actually happened in the episodes everything so far is very introductory and just showing what mechanics will be explored further down the line I think?? the op is really good too

also every boy so far reminds me so much of knights of the zodiac?? maybe it's just the design I guess...) and nanami can get these hands, jealousy is a disease and she's the sickest person on earth for all I know

I feel like the main thing on the episodes are parallels, one way or another I always feel like they're setting up parallels and giving me clues for a bigger picture and a deeper plot arc that is still to come and the bet on it fmv just made this impression stronger, also I wanna say it's done in a good way, one that is both mysterious (??) and "honey you've got a big storm coming" at the same time 🤔🤔 much to think about honestly

↳ just saw ep 11 and even though I already knew this was coming sooner or later it still felt like crap seeing utena lose to dick head, at the end of the episode when he says anthy was always just reflecting utena's own wishes for himemiya (in another way bc I dont remenber the exact words) it felt like 😐 bc yes I knew that (the way she was working her thoughts was simply a copy and paste of what utena was saying) at all time I kept those essays about anthy in my head, I dont think theyll be truly relatable to what I'm seeing rn but yeah anthy rights (even though I know you betray/cheat on utena down the line bc of the bet on it fmv but I'm sure you had your own motivation)

↳ saw ep 12 bc I just couldnt handle being in a cliffhanger and yeah it happened what I absolutely thought it would lmao not that it was that difficult to foresee but yeah, I kinda liked how utena did it for her instead of being like "oh I wanna save anthy from touga" and treating her like a damsel in distress (I know that's kinda her position as the rose bride for what I've been told so far and that this is a subject spoken about in many many essays on tumblr but yeah) bc so far she's been treated as a trophy and a way to get something else, for the green haired guy it was a way to see something eternal, for miki it was a way to hold on into his "shining thing" and for touga it seems (so far) like a way to manipulate (just like he does with nanami) and just mark his position as above everyone else as he seems to view himself?? man I might be saying random stuff rn but it kinda does makes sense in my mind with the information I've had to this point

ep 13-25

honestly 😐😐 through 9 whole episodes I felt like they were trying to make the side characters deeper and show their hidden face and motivations but it felt so shallow...... not even actually shallow, just not deep enough that it would make me care about these characters and the fact there was no actual build to showing us why we're getting to know these characters backgrounds was just kinda meh too, didnt really help that all episodes had all the same formula and the same timing just for the developers made in those episodes be forgotten at the end and also just that pink haired guy could be like "ah failure again", it felt like watching the same episode over and over again, it was really tiring and like?? girl help I do not care about these characters at all, I feel like it could have been done well (like the keiko ep in comparison to the furuba chapter that deals with the yuki appreciation (??) club president graduating.... the way this ep was done and setup didn't really bring me any emotions) overall not to my taste and tbh I feel like I could have skipped all those episodes except for maybe the miki and juri one so 😑

all nanami focused episodes are the worst so far, she's so boring and I cant stand now annoying she is, the diary episode?? the cow episode?? the episode when tsuwabiki fuels with utena?? honestly I know they're trying to show me a better and different side of her but it just doesnt!! work!! bc i feel no sympathy for her, my biggest wish rn is her and touga just disappearing and no more filler episodes🗣🗣

I thought akio was utena's prince?? but apparently he's just anthy's brother and like.. N/A: exploring Mike´s powers. I think. The problem here is that Mike is too OP and yes, he could conceal some of his powers to fool the X-men but again, still too OP.

Professor X is not a foolish man, as much his haters may say otherwise, so when Jean and Scott returns with Kitty and Michael Darkholme, the man in all his experience and wisdom, knew that Michael is acutely aware this was a set up (his mind is blocking any entrance by Prof X and Jean retells him, in their psych link that she couldn´t enter Kitty´s mind to verify her story. Her shields are too strong. Is Michael protecting her or is natural talent?) and the girl next to him seems to be thinking the same, but, she can reconize she has no other feasible option right now.

"I´m Charles Xavier, now, tell me, who are you two?" the man asked in such a polite and friendly way that it is too believable. Michale is not speaking, and Kitty got the resolution to speak on their behalf.

"I´m Kitty Pryde and he´s Michael..." she looks at him for a moment and adds "Michael Wagner, we were being chased by Mystique...we escaped her school" Michael looks at her eyes a bit amused and inquiring at the same time and Kitty has no time or room to explain that is better to not link him to Raven...yet.

Prof X and Michael are the only ones to see Kitty´s lies, but, they can play along. "Mystique after you? May I ask why?" and now Michael replies in a scared tone (perfect acting)

"Kitty...stole me from that school, they used to lock me in the attic...they wanted to suck my power...and Mystique is not happy with that, I don´t know you except for all the lies she told us and right now, you´re our last hope, so if you can´t help us...you´ll have two dead bodies in your conscious" Michael states in pure terror making Kitty fear for their lives now.

(Michael is sorry for that, but, Michael can see that dead children is what ticks Prof X the most)

Prof X pretends to believe in that lie(he hopes is a lie. He needs to be a lie) and let Kitty and Kurt stay in the mansion.

Jean is talking with Prof X as Scott is guiding them to the spare rooms where they can rest. Jean is the only one aware of the real plan behind all this charade and she´s the one to set her foot straight as her father figure is being unreasonable to believe in such superstitions.

"Look is bad when Wanda parades herself as a witch, but, you? Prof X, Wagner is not magical being or whatever your club is saying...he´s just a scared little boy, nothing more" Jean concludes and Prof X and now looks at her and smiles at the verge of a laugh.

"Then...you really didn´t saw? Oh, he´s that good"

"What?"

"He made me see and relief the death of my son and how I killed him...Jean, Michael is not a poor scared little boy and if the worst comes by...be prepared to kill him at any cost"

Michael is saded that he couldn´t be with Kitty, it makes sense, of course, she´s a girl and he´s a boy and sure enough, they´ll want some privacy but still...he wished he could stay in the same room as her.

"But, is for the better, I think. I need to understand what I can do..." Michael looks at his hands and feels, for the first time in his life, free and wonders what he can do and what he shouldn´t do.

Miles away from the mansion. Sabertooth is on the hunt for the kid and can imagine the sweet reward his Raven will give to him when the kid is back safely (their kid?! Sabertooth is not a fatherly material but his love for Raven can do wonders)

Suddenly, Raven Darkholme appears in his perimeter vision wearing a cocky smile on her face. "Do you want a reward now? Just to keep motivate..."

And Sabertooth´s men aren´t sure of what to think when the boss is making love with a tree screaming the name Raven and I love you. Some chuckle up as the mutant being a nutcase and horny and better leave him be.

Meanwhile, Michael is really amused and can take Sabertooth out of the picture...for some time. He can be useful later.

Kitty is in her room(is almost jarring how similar it is from her old room). She´s missing her friends in the school (Marrow did grow on her, who would know? The mutant with her cat puns and jokes was the one who Kitty wish to see again, well, maybe it was the adrenaline speaking or maybe the nostalgia) and wonders about the future as well the past. Why she put her own son in the attic for so many years? has Michael ever set a foot outside the attic? And what will be for them now?

"No, doubt won´t help me nor Michael. Sweet and kind Michael...what will be for us now?"

She's now laying down on the bed gazing at the ceiling and wonders if there´s an attic here and if Prof X is hiding any mutant from the society and she hopes, with all her heart and soul, is not the case.

"But...The stories of Prof X are true?" Kitty asked to herself as she feels her entire live is now "out of the frying pan into the fire" and one day, it quick think and luck may not be enough. _______________________________________________________________________

Prof X, once everyone is wakened and a new day is official beginning, asked for Michael and Kitty to met with him to speak about his powers. Jean and Scott are present under the convenient excuse of being the first X-men of the team.

"We know our powers already" Kitty begins fearless and Michael can make many comparisons between Kitty and Flynn Ryder (uhm, she did mention she does not like horses...) "and is a bit of risk for us to reveal our powers without having any insurance that....it won´t bite us in the ass later" Kitty concludes.

Michael inwardly chuckles at Jean and Scott´s expression. Prof X is amused but not for the same reason as Michael. "Many stories circulate on the internet about me using my powers to control my students" and he uses a familiar choker that Michael recognizes from TV.

"You´re locking your powers for now? Is proof of faith" his eyes trail off to Scott and Jean for a moment "and we accept, Kitty can phase anything and I can teleport"

"Teleport? Uhm...and what happened in the hotel?" Prof X asked and now Kitty is confused and Michael is mimicking her expression as well. "What do you mean?"

"You and Kitty were in a hotel last night...and the hotel is gone, care to explain how this happens?"

And Michael now acts afraid and even steps back from Kitty as she is looking at him in concern. "What do you mean?"

"The hotel is gone ...I think Michael is the one who did it and his powers are slowly emerging"

Some B-Daman Fire Spirits critique (SPOILERS)

I’ve been thinking of these things that kind of bother me when it comes to Fire Spirits, and since being a hater is my job, I’ll do a list of things I consider totally off when it comes to this season, and part of the reason why it wasn’t too successful. 

What will limit me will be the fact that I have only watched about 30% of FS (the dubbed episodes Max kindly uploaded to Youtube.) Also read as much as I could about it, trying to figure out more from people’s reviews. So I’m sorry if something I say will be inaccurate, I’m going to accept other opinions (maybe FS gets better after ep 27?)

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love this fucking anime but I can’t help and pinpoint what was wrong with the second season. It was sure nice to see our favorite characters in animation again, but it felt more like animated fanfiction rather than canon. I think many of these issues happened due to Season two not being related to the events of the manga, so it’s almost not basically canon.

I won’t even get started on the voices, as it’s the obvious flaw of the season, the only characters having acceptable voices being Enjyu, Gray, Wen, maybe Li, Lienna ( annoying but acceptable), Haja, and a few others.

ATTENTION, SPOILERS. 

1.CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WENT STRAIGHT TO TRASH. Season one did a great job with character development. Characters were believable, flawed, and also had redeeming qualities that made them complex. For example, Enjyu. Enjyu turns out to be quite the hero in the ending of the first season. He basically ends up saving the fucking world. Then we see him acting like an asshole again, in season two.                                                 

He destroys Ludo, leaving no one to tend and help Kia, who basically saved his life. He is power hungry again, which obviously destroys and consumes him. Enjyu’s only dream is to defeat Yamato (a dream shared by everyone else, making up for some pretty boring and overused kind of motivation...oh welp). 

This isn’t OOC for the Enjyu we first see for the first half of season one, but is upsetting at this point, where all the development his character underwent seems to have been thrown straight to the trash.                  

Also, Wen, who used to like Lienna, doesn’t seem to care for her anymore. Though, it might be interpreted as him losing interest in her as it was only a crush, or realizing they’re not going anywhere, but it would’ve been a nice touch as it tied Wen to someone other than Li, as the whole brothers-fighting-as-one etc etc got pretty boring in season two. So I would’ve enjoyed to see the dynamic between Wen and other characters. At least we get Kiba, I guess. I guess I’m mostly upset because little details that got a chance at being developed into a really cool thing were actually left out.

2. OOC-ness. Let’s take Gray and Lienna.    

 It’s very hard to believe that Gray left, leaving Lienna behind, after everything that happened in season one. We can believe that he learned that she is strong and can take care of herself, but very hard to believe that he would leave her behind. It’s also very weird how they meet, he actually realizes it is her behind the mask, but leaves her behind to go her own way anyway. This looks more like indifference than actual acknowledgement that she can take care of herself. It’s like the people who made Fire Spirits didn’t even watch season one. I can’t believe the fact that he’d just turn around and leave her in a fucking desert by herself, without showing any sign of affection.                                    

Also, Yamato. Yamato isn’t the dumb protagonist stereotype. He does exhibit some typical ‘’dumb’’ protagonist traits. He obsesses over food and fighting and the anime is a classic example of the “friendship matters, not power’’ trope. Though, this isn’t a topic approached with superficiality. During season one, characters bond thanks to Yamato’s kindness, power to believe in people and bring them together. He’s not blindly ambitious and obsessed with being the best. He’s genuinely in for the fun, is caring, motivational, warm, sees the best in everyone to the point of naivety, and can clearly discern right from wrong. He’s not shallow. Though, in Fire Spirits, he’s mostly used for comic relief. There are a few heartwarming moments (such as him disguising as Terry so Terry gets to fight in the tournament- but they’re not as emotionally powerful as some season one moments, and Yamato’s motivation at that moment is mostly shown to be the desire to fight Terry in the Tournament. True Yamato would be too concerned for Terry at this point in order to care so much about fighting.                                    

Also, Yamato forgets Wen and Li’s names?????? This is so OOC I can’t even. Yamato cares greatly about his friends. He tends to be all-over-the-place and not attentive to small details sometimes but he is definitely a people person who would never forget people he shared so many moments with.                 

Terry is by far the worst example of OOC. Terry is the heart of the group, the most caring and supportive one, like Katara in ATLA. He would never turn against his friends. At his worst, he would seek revenge and lose himself for a moment (like Katara did with the guy who killed her mother) but would be too moral to carry on and would be on the right path again immediately. He would be HEARTBROKEN by Joe’s death, but he would probably accept help (or retreat to reconsider his life and meditate on what happen) but he would never turn into a villain. He’s the least likely to. 

3. “MEH” HUMOR. Honestly, too much toilet humor. Too much farting, pissing, etc. That’s just lazy.

4. COOL CHARACTERS LEFT OUT IN FAVOR OF MUCH LESS INTERESTING ONES. I don’t say, bring back every fucking minor character from the first season, but friendships and relationships that went through a deep development in season one were left out and annoying characters got brought in instead. For example, Karat and Bull’s relationship. We could’ve seen more of that. These two went through some stuff together, after all. It was nice that they included Joe though, but he soon gets killed off, leaving Terry acting in ways Terry WOULD NEVER ACT NO MATTER HOW SEVERE THE LOSS. So Joe gets brought in, we get the chance to see some development for Terry and him, but he gets killed off for the sake of the plot. Not smart writing. Also, Bull befriends Aqulas and decided to go with him despite the fact that he doesn’t even fucking know him, turning his back to Yamato, after they went through so much together. It’s just awful.                                  

Haja is interesting though, but has no real backstory. He does provide some humor though.                                                                                    

Aqulas doesn’t speak, which means that it would’ve been better if we got some insight on his character and personality through his actions. We truly can’t find out anything about his personality at all, which is sad because he had real potential. All we know is that he’s too OP.                   

Gunnos is such a typical and uninteresting character. He’s shown to have pretty much no personality rather than being annoying and competing with Yamato. We should’ve seen more traits. His role in the original manga was more acceptable.

5. EVERYONE IS POWER HUNGRY AND HAS NO DEEP MOTIVATION. The characters as we used to know them had very varied motivations. Gray genuinely enjoyed the game and had a deep perception of friendship and caring for each other. He does fight with all he has as a means to show respect to the opponent, but winning is not the ultimate purpose. In Fire Spirits he’s so obsessed with defeating Yamato that he even leaves his own sister behind. Enjyu turns back to being power hungry as well, making everything we saw at the end of season one useless. Yamato himself only thinks about food and fighting at this point.

6. WE GET A GREAT BUILD-UP TOWARDS A SPECIFIC MOMENT BUT THE OUTCOME IS UNINTERESTING. Basically, the entire tournament. Characters go through many preparations and struggles to get a Strike Shot in order to go to the Tournament, but they go out of the competition really fast and the battles are uninteresting. For example, Gray. It was interesting that he got kicked out of the competition because of Haja, but it was all handled poorly. It was too sudden. We didn’t get to see enough of Gray fighting. Even Gunnos has his moment in the tournament, but Gray...it was just plain disappointing, after all his struggles to get there. Aqulas and Enjyu’s battle was interesting, though. I didn’t see Wen lose, but he was suddenly out of the Tournament during one episode (though I might’ve missed something? anyone care to illuminate me?                      

I also enjoyed the fact that Lienna got to fight as well, but of course she was thrown out after a while, and turns back to being overly emotional, crying and praying (she literally only cries and prays) Not saying that it’s wrong to be like that, or that all female characters must be super tough and indifferent, but her B-Dabattler persona and actual personality were strikingly different.

7. THE CHARACTERS HAVE NO FLAVOR. It goes hand in hand with everyone just fighting for the sake of fighting. The only character who was ‘’deeper’’ was Enjyu. We could see some passion in him, but the way he ended up acting contradicted the way we ended up seeing Enjyu at the end of season one. 

8. WE DON’T SEE ACCURATE REACTIONS TO ENJYU’S DEATH. Yamato was enthusiastic about getting to fight Aqulas right after Enjyu died (the next episode). He said nothing about Enjyu, he was just happy that he was going to fight someone so powerful. WHAT EVEN

9. TOO MANY THINGS HAPPEN THAT GO UNEXPLAINED. People die, but are revived and we don’t get an explanation why. Enjyu’s body just disappears after his fight against Aqulas and nobody questions it. Then, he comes back due to Lienna ‘’praying’’?? Also, nobody is shocked, or excited, or questions it. Wen is like “Oh Enjyu, where did you go? Welcome back” That’s creepy. The whole “going to hell and coming back” was an interesting idea though, allthough I couldn’t understand exactly how it happened (because I couldn’t see the dubbed episodes) so I won’t comment on that.

That’s it, pretty much. I might add some more details if anything comes to mind.

I apologize for being such a turn off, but as a huge fan myself, I couldn’t help but state the obvious. I’m willing to discuss though, just remember that I love the series and this is only my personal take on FS (as someone who wished to see something that was up to the standards set by season one)

That post about spuhura you replied to that pretty much ripped the op to pieces, preached the truth to them and gave an entire class of how wrong they are and gave the accurate history of these characters of this show/movie... AND called them out on their bs... was freaking beautiful! I've never seen anything so amazing. That was some Zachary Quinto level of eloquent destruction with words and I loved it so much! well,  thank you a lot! *blushing* I’m glad you liked my post (and that you even read it all LOL) and you found it at least a bit ‘useful’. Honestly I felt like it was a loss of time as soon as I pubblished it… It’s 7 years.At this point, I should just be a sassy grandma and not even care, and tbh I don’t even reply to most of the posts I read anymore especially when they really are just about a ship preference. I guess posts like that one, though, irk me because of that  ‘holier than you’ ‘real trek fan and canon keeper’ tone they have while OPsactually are the ones using selective memory when it comes to canon, and when they (the worst thing) are erasing actual issues from the original series to fit their own narrative and thus turn them into something positive, or even progressive.I think having preferences is perfectly fine but using the racism that prevented tos Uhura to truly get any real development in terms of romance as an excuse to shit on reboot Spock/Uhura on the basis of it not happening in tos, never mind the real actual reasons why while it was hinted it COULDN’T happen in tos, is not only disingenuos but actually shitty; and so is pretending that her being single is feminism. The reboot is an alternate reality and with all the changes they made it’s already a bit suspect, honestly, if someone focuses that much on S/U only and acts as if it’s the worst thing JJ&co did or the biggest change when it really isn’t (and it actually is, if anything, one of the few changes that are the most inspired by canon).What about, also, people conveniently turning a blind eye to the fact that series’ sexism was the core reason why tos Spock (like Kirk) while allowed to have plenty of love interests was never allowed to have an actual ongoing relationship with one like new Spock has? It has nothing to do with the writers wanting to have LGBT representation (of what kind?),  and everything to do with the time being very sexist and female characters not considered more than a mere distraction and eye candy. How could you give Kirk or Spock a girlfriend when producers found it more cool for them to flirt with different female characters that they didn’t have to hire for more than one episode? Plus, he was just the hero’s sidekick more than a protagonist so in their mind it most likely wouldn’t be considered a priority for him to access to narrative elements (such as having the main romantic subplot) that if considered would be given to Shatner, not him. I only read few articles talking about this point and thus the fact that WOMEN were considered shit in the 60s and bromance was everything you could get in terms of interpersonal relationships, therefore the reboot having a different dynamic too should be praised as an attempt to fix certain issues, not turned into something offensive.Truth is I honestly don’t think trek fans, like fans of other male dominated franchises, are over that ‘women ain’t shit’ ideology;  female fans themselves are complicit with their dehumanizing female characters and holding them to unreasonable double standards while disguising it behind a feminist push. If Uhura had really been just the pretty woman Spock was fucking, and there was no depth between them and no hint that she is important for him and part of the dynamic, 90% of the haters wouldn’t be so bitter about it and bitch like they still do years later. tl dr: I don’t expect anyone here to acknowledge they maybe should be ‘thankful’ about their faves getting most of the screentime in tos first foremost because the 60s were so problematic, instead of having a victim complex because a ship is not canon, but people should at least try to not turn certain issues from tos (and thus the 60s) into something progressive, pro women or pro poc and/or pro lgbt.  Roddenberry had many progressive ideas for his time but let’s be real: he still had the very same issues guys of his time had.  And his trek was still a product of its time. There is no way for me that a person of THIS TIME can watch the original series for the first time after watching the reboot and serioustly believe the old thing developed Uhura better and treated women so much better.  I’m sorry as an old trek fan myself who loves the original (and original Uhura) I call it bullshit.
