Okay but the way swords in danmei often represent/are associated with manhood and masculinity and the way hensheng is a soft sword and a sneaky weapob could very well represent JGY's position as "lesser" for his origins as a prostitute's son.

Like the way JGY is treated, in lack of better wording, as a woman, throughout the whole novel, (see: the way he's held up to higher standarts than everyone else, the way his standing will plummet with a single whiff of sex relating to him, the way he has to protect himself and take preemptive measures against everyone and everything and most of the time he's right)

I feel it kind of ties onto the way hensheng works, as an assassin's weapon, as something that doesn't require strenght per se, as something hidden easily, etc, and the fact that it's a soft sword— soft as women and JGY are expected to be, soft as they have to be to survive, but deathly nonethelesss

it's about time i officially shared my design for Clip from my hairdresser au! here's the silly boi himself!

a.k.a. the most complicated character i've ever designed...

that's my boi, despite his crazy design, i love him. his silly top knot hat, the horn-like points around his faceplate, his speckled colours, his four arms, and his funky pants. he's just soooooo fun.

Clip likes to play games and knit! he even made the patchwork pants he wears (he made Sun and Moon a pair too, but they're too precious for them to wear... also a little gaudy to wear in public—doesn't stop Clip tho!). He actually makes everything the boys wear, since there's not a lot of things in their size/shape.

instead of resting at night, he can be found in their living room, playing Kirby 64 for the nth time and/or knitting something. he's just too restless to stay still, he's always gotta be doing something and if it isn't gaming, knitting, or hairdressing, then he's up to No GoodTM.

Clip... likes popping balloons. he says "Goodnight!" with each popped balloon and once he's done, he tosses up the scraps like confetti all while giggling joyfully.

needless to say, he is not fun at parties. Sun and Moon don't let him near balloons for this reason.

and yes, he has sewing needles on hand at all times. for fashion emergencies... and for unsuspecting balloons.

Clip's not allowed to have a phone (just imagine all the in-app purchases Sun and Moon would have to deal with), but he likes to keep up with his customers and their games, even if he doesn't get their fixation over bluenets he'll never openly admit it but he prefers curly-haired blond hunks that look sweet in soft pastels but could also squash him like the spider he is

also, he's great at microbraiding! though i imagine if Sun and Moon are free, they'd come help to shorten the wait but also to compete and see who braids the most (Clip always wins of course—make anything into a game, and he's winning)

aaaaand there's this! i wanted to make sure Clip would be able to freely rotate his waist so his arms could have their full range of motion, and this was the solution i came up with: a crop top on top and a wrap around his waist. and Clip here is being a sneaky little scamp about it.

I've said it before but I really really really need everyone in the disco elysium fandom to like. look at themselves for a moment and make sure they're not being insanely ridiculously dehumanizing to addicts because I see it way too often. I'm not talking about saying that harry is a bad person, depending on your choices in your playthrough he could absolutely be described as a very shitty person, I'm talking about this weird insistence that harry as an addict/recovering addict/whatever doesn't deserve love or friendship or community because he's just That Bad and he will ALWAYS be That Bad and inflicting him on someone else would be cruel and unusual punishment. like... actually fuck each and every last one of you who says shit like that I'm not joking.

Hot take but Caleb is at least a little bit justified in the way he's acting in the main story. Not completely of course. He definitely takes it too far and he SHOULD have told the mc what the hell was going on in skyhaven from the get go so she could be better prepared.

But the mc is actively acting like a goddamn dumbass. She throws herself basically blind into a situation which even her supervisor says is suspicious at best and dangerous at worst AND which they know next to nothing about, with no backup and basically no plan except for a vague "infiltrate the fleet and find out what they know about the aether core". So OF COURSE she gets caught the moment she steps foot onto the place. And of course Caleb has to step in and clean up the mess before his superiors, or worse, Ever, look too much into this girl who's throwing herself headfirst into anything and everything even remotely connected to the aether core. All the while keeping up his persona as a heartless colonel so that what is likely a year's long plan to infiltrate the fleet and ever in order to destroy them from within wont go to waste - though that's more of an educated guess from going through his material and some theorising built upon said material.

Honestly the mc's foray into the N109 Zone was also bumbassery at its finest but there you could excuse it with grief making her not think things through...but with skyhaven? There's really no other explanation than idiocy.

She should know by now that everything connected to ever and the aether core is dangerous business. THEY BLEW UP HER HOUSE FOR GOODNESS SAKE! But she keeps acting with all the forethought and grace of a bull in a china shop. Or a pumpkin magus in a flower shop if you will.

At the end of the day though, since LADS is an otome game and the mc is a self-insert, there will never be any lasting consequences for her ill thought out actions. Nor will they be properly scrutinised in the same way the LIs actions will be.

So I guess I'll just sit in my little corner and grumble about the way Caleb gets misinterpreted by large swathes of the fandom as nothing but the manipulative yandere type when in truth he's still a sunflower - he's just grown in rotten soil.
