From time to time, I'm struck about how much this Rain World animation hits right in a massive part of why I find Saint's campaign so interesting and compelling.

Decided to revamp my Sinner Slugcats so they're not all just multicolored scugs.

I did look into some of the symbols and stuff of the game, so the writing is more or less "Outlaw, Number", since I wasn't sure how to make a "Sinner" symbol in the RW language, so I just used Outlaw since it has the lowest Karma symbol anyway.

Intricacies under the readmore

Yi Sang: Inspired by daszombes' Deadlands video, he is a "Flying Slugcat", like a sugar glider or flying squirrel. He has no true flight, but it works

Faust: Some sort of Echo or associated. Has her own citizen ID drone of an unknown Iterator, and it also acts as a little scanner (inspired by @astragatwo's take on scug Faust). She still maintains Gourmand's crafting ability, but it might be more taxing with her smaller frame.

Don Quixote: A special breed of Slugcat meant to go fast, her legs are quite powerful, letting her make longer pounces or generally run faster than most other scugs. Obviously, her lack of weight makes her weak to poleplants/worm grass, but y'know.

Ryoshu: Similar to Spearmaster, but by way of King Vulture, she only has one spear directly connected to her that she can recall (it does not act like SM's feeding needles). Also, a subtle detail is that her ears are absolutely massive compared to most scugs, giving her enhanced hearing.

Meursault: (Perhaps a Purposed Being?) He has face armor not unlike a lizard, in fact he's about the same size as a blue lizard. His bite is quite powerful, and he's certainly the best to have in front going through pipes, as his face will deflect spears (should the scavs be aggro or something). He might also have better climbing ability, able to get on walls and such, but he's very heavy so idk

Hong Lu: Bioluminescent, like a fun mix of lantern mice and cyan lizards, he can "turn it off" as it were. His tail also can be used as a small flashbang, but obviously only once (per cycle). Of course, this helps with coalescipedes, but makes him a damn beacon otherwise.

Heathcliff: Still Artificer based, where explosions and such just don't really bother him and he's able to maul enemies (though obviously his bite is weaker than Meur's). He also has a pearl hanging around his neck of unknown use, but clearly given to him by someone special.

Ishmael: Rivulet, but even closer to salamander where she actually has fins, her ability to swim is obviously a cut above everyone else's. She's probably had a bad run in or two with Leviathans. Her cloak is probably a gift from whatever version of Queequeg this world has

Rodion: Also inspired by astragatwo, she's mega fluffy making her very warm. Though, this does make it annoying for her to swim if the area is cold because she'll freeze faster. I still like the idea she can carry more scugs on her, but idk. (She does look more like a fox, but such is the price of floof)

Sinclair: Saint-lite, and still pup-sized (he's an adult, just tiny like Don) so long as he's not at lowest Karma, he has limited ability to incapacitate enemies (not quite enough to ascend) and fly a bit with said ability. I basically wanted to reference his Mark of Cain somehow.

Outis: Ironically, just your average Slugcat. She probably has stuff going on with reputation or maybe she allows Echos to appear on first visit, or convinces Pebbles to not murder everyone immediately

Gregor: Definitely a creature that has been fucked with too much. Originally just a Slugcat that had been spliced with a centiwing (sorta like how the Miros Vultures are hybrids), he seemed to have got infected by the Rot, most likely when whatever Iterator structure he was hanging out around pulled a Pebbles

SLUGS SLUGS SLUGS!!!! kinda size accurate? Individual scugs and a little notes below the cut

Survivor! Average joe slugcat, just plain white with a little heart birthmark thingy that they, monk, gourmand, and any other slugcats that are closely related to them? or maybe the whole slug tree colony idk. stained paws from just bein out in the world and their white so its just more visible than others idk. Average scug size.

Monk!! baby <3 Slightly smaller than average, Round ears and short round tail, slightly skinnier arms than survivor. heart birthmark thing on their chest <3 tiny heart shaped-ish nose

HUNTER MY BELOVED <3<3<3!!!! PINK!!! CLAWS!!! POINTY LONG EARS!! idk how to describe the nose but like skinny and long i guess idk, and drew them less round and more angular. not pictured here but I think she should have little fangs too :3 Headcanon that scugs fur gets paler as they age and is paler the more sick they are, maybe somewhat similar to real cats sometimes idk but yeah, so this is hunter like maybe mid-journey or when you start the game, she would start out a brighter pink and fade as the rot gets worse :[ oh also idk if @pansear-doodles started it or not but hunter having rot on their back to hold the extra spear? yes yes good idea I will use that. Idk where I saw it but Ive seen some scugs with their iterator mark on them and yes I think thats neat so they got NSH,s mark on their head, and they have some stripes. also using @silkysong ,s (hihihihi) idea of arti and hunter being big scugs. reminds me of normal rabbits and then like rabbits the size of a child yeah.

Gourmand!! Gave them the little heart marking as well, and lighter belly fur, and little pink cheeks :D Short round ears and chunky round body and tail, tail reminds me of those caramel lizards a little bit. Beeg paws because fat and also STRONG. they could punch you in the face. heart nose <3 largest scug

ARTIFICER THE EXPLOSIVE DOG!!!! long pointy ears with tufts, Long spiky fur, CLAWS >:3. Shes the only one turned the other way since I wanted to draw her scar. some sparkles on her tail. Her tail and paws are darker from handling explosives and her tail EXPLODING, also shes just covered in soot in general. Used to be a brighter color but age/stress/exploding darkened it. also pretty big, floof makes her look a bit bigger.

Rivulet!!/RUffleS!!/water dancer!/WET MOUSE!!!! tiniest scug so so tiny and light. sopping wet huge eyes short kitty ears :) funky swirly water patterns and little water drops by their eyes. little feathery fluff on their leg because they SPEED also cant see but i like to think they have webbed paws

SPEARMASTER!!!! not big exactly but tall and thin and loooong. BEEEG EARS. Siamese cat vibes. they also got (spurs?) spiky thangs on their leggies and footies and back and face. Suns face markings! After pebbles rips out the pearl their eyebags get bigger they are just so tired and done with pebbles and wanna go home Bnnuy :]

SAINT!!!! average scug size but looks a little bigger with the amount of FLOOF they have. so floofy that you cant see their paws at all they are just so incredibly fluffy, but if you could see their paws I bet their big and fluffy like snow leopards and stuff to like walk on snow better. pretty basic in this form but ascended form is my silly biblically accurate saint thingy hehe

I have a list of who’s the smartest in my head, and although rivulet is high on crack most of the time, they’re my third smartest scug :D

here’s the list:

Monk - The beginner slugcat, baby mode, not very smart but very compassionate and loving, cares about the environment around them and doesn’t want to hurt any of the creatures around themself. Monk learns things, but forgets them easily through the heat of the moment, but always remembers their family and everything that they learned from them.

Nightcat - Not much is known about the watcher yet, but I’m gonna list them here though they should probably be higher up. They go through several different regions (new regions), and is supposedly going through a time where rot is in their campaign which causes them to have needs to problem solve, but without knowing directly I can’t give a great rating on them.

Survivor - The starter mode, helps you learn along w/ the scug everything that the game has to offer. But in general, I think survivor is a great learner and it relatively very smart, but just can’t put the mind to the actions most of the times due to mobility and not being the strongest of the scugs.

Artificer - Explosive, and compulsed by rage. She mainly remembers her pups, and any learning that isn’t going to help her with destroying the scavengers is very much tossed into the void sea. However, when she had her pups she was open to learning and was noteably much smarter on this list then she is now. But going through metropolis is hard and the fact that the scug can do explosive backflips over walls is kinda cool, and I should have put her higher up

Gourmand - Huge range of combat, knows and remembers many crafting recipes (LOTS) and that’s why I put gourmand up here. You can roll, fall, slide, and kill enemies by having 3 damage point spear throws!! Gourmand isn’t the brightest, but knows their skills and abilities well despite them having to stop to breathe every once in a while. (Plus extra point for sluppies because they show up in gourms campaign once you unlock it and that takes some knowledge to yake

care of another breathing alive creature)

Hunter - Hunter knows where to go while having turbo cancer, delivers slag keys to LTTM without any direction from NSH, has the ability to find a cloak for Moon, has to go echo hunting to get more karma, and travels across lots of terrain while managing their cycles without getting consumed by their cancer. Also super cool scug one of my favorites :D

Spearmaster - One of the smartest scugs, has to use spears to siphon food rather then eat like the other scugs, delivers a pearl transmission to pebbles or moon and has to go through moons superstructure since its complete in their campaign. Also has to go all the way to sky islands to get the pearl to the transmission towers without throwing it off accidentally (learned from experience) BUT OVERALL they’re very smart :)

Rivulet - Rivulet goes through hell in their campaign with having to go around the rot and pebbles and grab his heart and lovingly give it to Moon and go and put it in submerged superstructure, it’s a HELL OF A campaign and is a great campaign and also rivulet stays with moon afterwards until they pass away and probably gain lots of knowledge from staying with her :) (about the ancients and ect)

Saint - I can barely explain this one.. uhhh rubicon void worm ascensions huh??? I think Saint is like above smart I have no idea I can’t even explain their campaign anymore LMAOO I put them up here because I’m pretty sure that they’ve learned lots since their campaign ends.. in a cycle as an echo???? I’m so confused but yeah space scug has big brain or maybe it’s just floof idk THABKS FOR READING SCREAMS

My headcanon is that Rivulet is the smartest scug actually
