Part of me also has to wonder about development things, because the site of the final boss fight against Gael is shown in the opening of dark souls 3 and on the cover but doesn't actually appear in the base game, and it's typical for souls dlcs to include and expand on content that was cut from the base game.
I was mostly thinking about the discrepancy between the dreg heap and Gael's boss arena; is it something to puzzle too hard or should I write it off as "it's more scenic this way". The first and last great kingdom sitting together amongst the ash. I'm not sure I care for the poetic cinema of that either though.
Could be that lothric castle recompletes itself and goes back to normal every time the fire is linked but that's also lame.
#me vs dark souls 3#the entire transient lands concept is an interesting evolution of time and now space being convoluted#and it's more visually impressive than what dark souls 2 had going on. Space didn't make sense in that game perhaps often on purpose#and the concept that as the fire fades worse the land eventually starts to crumple in on itself is at least very visually impressive#but then Lothric is right there in tact at the so called end of the world.#there is a general vibe of “something weird is up with Lothric Kingdom”. It's said the great wall *appeared*#the churning homes gather around lothric which is elevated but infrastructure implies that everything was in its right place#before lothric showed up#so the entire kingdom of lothric is just kind of time hopping I guess. Sure.
