Choreographer lore dump: How Choreographer got their scar
This was made very recently, i literally just finished it for this post, 5 minutes ago, so it's a bit cleaner
Cw: uh... i guess mild violence? idk, I'm still putting a warning here just in case
On an expedition to find more blank data pearls, Choreographer comes to a room with a white lizard and a scavenger fighting on a higher up surface. Choreographer sees the fight and sneakily hides behind the wall.
As they’re sneaking past, their paw steps on something small, round, and cold. Choreographer looks down and notices a blank data pearl right beside their feet. Their eyes widen as they go to pick it up.
Meanwhile, the fight on top of the surface rages on, closer to the edge, the scavenger blocks the white lizard while moving backwards, not seeing where they’re going. The scavenger bumps into a sizable rock, and the white lizard pounces onto the scavenger, pinning them against the rock.
Eventually, the rock shifts, right off the edge, and onto Choreographer’s tail.
…
“… aaaAAAAHHHH!!” Choreographer shrieks.
The scavenger and the white lizard pause, looking over the edge, seeing the yellow slugcat in pain.
Choreographer falls to their knees, their body surging with anguish as a tear falls down their face. Choreographer turns around, attempting to lift the rock off their tail. Choreographer screams again when the rock pushes down on their wound on a smaller point, causing them to drop the rock and it falling on their tail again, in turn making Choreographer yelp louder.
Choreographer tries again, trying to ignore the pain as they flip the rock off their tail. Choreographer pants as they stare at their crushed and bruised tail, wincing upon noticing the sizable dent.
The scavenger and the white lizard stare at the slugcat, and then at each other. The white lizard pounces on the scavenger again, resuming their fight.
Choreographer goes to touch their tail, repelling when a wave of pain rushes through their tail upon a single paw pad touching the wound.
…
A scavenger stands at a scavenger toll, bored as hell, leaning on their propped up spear with their head in their hand. Their eyes widen when they see a yellow slugcat with a jacket limping towards the toll with their tail in their paws, clearly wounded.
They know the slugcat, “They must have some pearls on them, right? Surely if the scavenger helps them, they’ll be able to get some pearls in exchange.” The scavenger thought to themself with a mischievous grin.
Choreographer goes up to the scavenger and asks for help. The scavenger nods and leads the slugcat to the toll’s treasury, having them sit down while they search for supplies.
They rummage through the piles of pearls, spears, and other miscellaneous items, turning back and asking what had happened.
Choreographer breathes choppily as they prepare an answer, “I-I was out scavenging for… for p-pearls, like usual. A-and I was passing a fight happening on a higher ledge, an-… and they knocked a rock down, onto my tail…” They reply with an agonised tone.
The scavenger winces upon hearing a rock crushing the poor slugcat’s tail. They continue rummaging through their stash, then pulling out what they were looking for; A small bottle of medicine. They bring it to the slugcat and measure a bit out into a medicine cup, handing it to the slugcat and directing them to drink it, which they do.
Choreographer feels the cold medicine falling down their throat and… nothing happens… except for the unwavering pain in their tail. Until, a few seconds pass, and the surges of pain start dwindling, but not disappearing.
The scavenger then goes back to the pile and grabs a roll of bandages, lifting up the slugcat’s tail and beginning to wrap the bandages around their tail. Choreographer flinches, almost ripping their tail away as the scavenger wraps it.
Eventually, after an excruciating procedure, the scavenger finishes wrapping the wound in bandages. Choreographer lets out a big sigh now that it’s finally done. They stand back up and thank the scavenger. But before they could walk off, they notice the scavenger holding out their hand, which causes Choreographer to tilt their head in confusion.
“Uh… pearl?” The scavenger asks.
This only confuses Choreographer more. “Wh- But I’m not passing the toll?”
“No, pearl for bandages.”
Choreographer is taken aback, “Scavengers don’t do free healthcare?”
“Slugcats do?” The scavenger also asks in confusion.
Choreographer groans, “Fine.” They respond as the get a blank pearl out of their satchel and drop it in the scavenger’s hand before walking off.

Okay, first: I am so sorry for not responding before. I don't know if I didn't see it, if I was just tired, if I was having a bit of a day, or what, but I very much don't remember seeing the scars pictures post. I'll do that one first.
I think that Frisk would need to be wearing some sort of cloak or something to not have that big ol' scar seen. Might need to have Frisk raid the kid's room for a scarf or something if he's ashamed of the scars. Otherwise, I don't see Pap making the kid go through the puzzles to begin with. So, maybe keep that in mind?
And, I think that Sans would brush Frisk fleeing from him off, initially, but I also think that he might clock on that the little dude's probably had a rough time of it down there pretty quickly as Frisk makes his way through the woods & the puzzles. At the same time, I also think that he wouldn't really care. Might even try to mentally excuse it by thinking, "We've all had it rough. Doesn't mean he can just dust people." Ya know, like a hypocrite.
The Electric Maze puzzle would likely cause a nervous breakdown initially. Though, I'm not sure if Pap would notice just yet. Sans definitely would, but again, wouldn't care.
Frisk might enjoy the Ball Game puzzle & may even get all the virtues if only to put off having to move on from the safe game for a bit longer.
In fact, the Word Search might delight Frisk, though possibly perterb him once he realizes that the search is impossible to win. When asked which word game to choose from, I think he'd be a bit scared to choose, but eventually would. Not sure which he'd choose, though.
But, yeah. This Frisk wouldn't talk to Sans after that. I see him speedwalking right past with his head down, shoulders hunched, specifically not meeting the bonehead's gaze. You know that thing you do when you rush past someone , but you don't wanna catch anyone's attention? That. Which might cause the guy to think Frisk was rude.
Don't know about the rest, but oh, heavens... The stinkin' obstacle bridge... Poor kid probably had a heart attack... And, in fact, the expression may well have been what caused Pap to decide against using it & might've also been what caused Pap to first really notice how jumpy the boy was.
If nothing else, I very much see him as the type to be very concerned.
As for how Pap would react... To be fair, this will have been the first time he'd seen a real human, so he might not realize what they were. That's up to you. But if he does, then I think he'd be horrified. Regardless of whether he does or not, though. I can almost guarantee that he'd register, "Oh... Wait a minute... This is the same feeling I get when I see a babybones cry... Is the human a babybones!?!? Is that the right word for it??? A fleshybones??? Oh, have Mercy! I ATTACKED A BABY HUMAN!!!! AAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!" But, like, on the inside. Because the kid needs someone to be the one with emotional control here & he can't do that if he's also freaking out on the outside.
I will say that I'd bet the entire date thing just does not happen here & I am delighted to know that.
He may get the kiddo some hot cocoa & a blanket, cringe a bit whenever he hears a sniffle or a hiccup. Probably begin calling him, "human child" rather than just, "human." Might not even realize that he's doing it, either, but I guarantee that anyone that hears it with notice, which will likely cause at least a few to simply stop fighting. Though, it'll likely result in the discovery of which monsters have scruples, which are at least uncomfortable with the prospect of killing a child, & which need to be put on a watch list.
At the same time, I think that Sans might flinch a bit, sockets widening for a moment at the sight of the scars, but otherwise, would only feel a bit guilty.
Pap would likely avoid talking about it with him until after he'd put Frisk down for bed. At which point, he might walk down the stairs, grabbing Sans back the back of the hoodie as he passes, before going outside & into the shack, then shutting the door.
He might then take a deep breath & proceed to give a long, drawn-out, whispered, strangled scream. Then spin around on his brother, whisper-screaming, "THE HUMAN IS A CHILD!!" Causing the lazybones to sort of go still, sockets going black as his brain connects this information with the burn scars & begins to sweat a bit.
Like, I think that Sans had probably started to maybe have a bit of a niggling feeling on this being a possibility, but was honestly kinda hoping his hunch was wrong.
Even still, I think he'd push that tiny little spark of guilt down at having just watched the kid struggle to survive like that. Like, there's no dang way that he didn't & there's also no way that he didn't notice how scared the kid was or
(BTW, I can't quite remember which monsters are avoidable, but I'm hoping that he avoided Snowdrake & Giftrot. And even if not, then if nothing else, I think Frisk can at least tell a bad joke & it really wouldn't be too terribly hard to look & figure out that Giftrot was covered in barbed wire & that it hurt.)
Anyway, I see the 2 having a bit of back & forth in the shed while sort of whisper yelling. Maybe Pap turns away, an aura of depression siezing him for a second, obviously deep in thought. Sans tries to press him for what he's thinking about & Pap quietly mentions what Frisk said. Ya know, "you're the first one to stop trying to hurt me." And, not in all caps or even whispering either. Just, a bit of a quieter indoor voice.
I really think that that would kick Sans right in the ribs.
Then Pap continues by saying that he'd always been told that Monsters were made of compassion & mercy. That humans could survive without those things, but monsters couldn't. If that was true, then who down there could do this to a kid? Then it's silent. Air filled with a tense sadness.
Not sure what else they'd talk about, though. However, I do think that Sans is the type who's very good at pushing unwanted feelings to the back of his mind. So, I think he'd be fairly stubborn about not changing his mind on this for a decent while. But I also think that, because of Frisk being a kid, having those scars, & very specifically not using the Saves & RESETS, that Sans would also be just that little bit more likely to start to doubt himself & the okay-ness of what was going on.
I also think that after helping Frisk to collect himself, Pap would try offer his home for him to stay for a time (despite Sans' protests). And, I'm actually curious as to what Frisk would do.
Like, in this situation, he has a dang good reason to at least take some time to recover. He's being offered &, while yes, he decided against staying with Toriel before. It was also, very specifically, before fighting & dusting goatmom.
And, yes, he then went through after the battle with her. But, that was, very specifically, after dusting her. As such, I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to stop at that point, but also wanted to just leave the place where the nice goat lady attacked him & he'd dusted her even more than he wanted to stay.
So, that's the next question. Does Frisk take a bit of time to recover?
Even if not, I do think that Pap would try to help to show Frisk that not all Monsters are without mercy. That a bunch are actually really great & even super cool. (Though, not as cool as himself.)
Either way, even if Frisk didn't want to do so, I think that he'd sort of cling to the one person he'd met since leaving the ruins who spared him. Like, legit cling to skelebean's mitten.
And, I definitely think that
Another question, though. In the case of Frisk rejecting his offer to stay, I don't think that Pap could avoid asking why. Like, in this specific situation, I just can't see Frisk wanting to move forward & leave without a very, very good reason. And, by that, I mean that he has to have something or someone on the surface that he wants to get back to. Otherwise, he has no good reason to go forward.
Especially in this specific situation. So, this might need to be something you have to put some thought into. Along with why Frisk was on the mountain to begin with.
You could go the route of kids being kids & he was with some buddies (because goodness knows, will kids ignore a 'KEEP OUT' sign fast & in a hurry), he was running, maybe playin' tag, & tripped into the Underground, & now he just wants to get back to his family & friends.
You could also go with something like someone else did (which, holy cats, that was a new one), where Frisk had temper issues & ended up hurting someone by accident. So, he was up there to commit the last act, but not because he was being mistreated. More so, he was ashamed or thought he was a monster & figured that he should be down there with all the other monsters, too. But now that he's found this tall bonebuddy, maybe he's thinking he might accidently hurt Pap, too. So, he wants to leave in order to avoid doing so.
Or some other, mysterious third choice that I haven't thought up yet.
But, I do think this is an important question for this au in particular, because motivation is a very important thing here. So, unless he has one already, I don't see him being motivated enough to leave Snowdin until he realizes that Papyrus wants to see the surface, too. Which may take a bit of time.
Oh! I hope Frisk bought the Spider Donut! It could be a nice, hopeful surprise for later!
And, I can't help but think that all this might cause even Flowey to feel kinda bad for the kid. Like, I know that he can't feel love, but love isn't just a feeling. Affection is a feeling, though.
And so is pity & guilt. And you don't need to love or form a connection to someone to feel bad for them or to feel guilty for the part that you've played in their misery.
But again, that's up to you. Just pointing a couple things out.
Anyway, like mentioned above, I see Pap trying to escort Frisk around town (because why would a poor, traumatized little munchkin with... holy balls! I think the kid has either really severe 2nd degree burns or full-on 3rd degree burns!
If it's 3rd degree, then Frisk might lose sensation in the face area at least & they can actually cause bone, tendon, & muscle damage depending on how deep it is! And, from what I'm seeing, they need skin grafts to completely heal! 😬
Though, even if he only has a very severe 2nd degree burn, then he most likely has slight hearing impairment on the side damaged. (Evidently, that's why Zuko only sleeps on his unscarred side when he feels safe.)
And, it appears that it causes mild physical discomfort at the time of the show, so it must hurt a lot for Frisk right now. It's also possible that he's got some vision impairment. (But, you have to remember that Zuko was likely treated by the best doctors in the Fire Nation; Frisk doesn't have that. In fact, it's possible that the kid could go blind & deaf in that ear without expert care.)
As such, I think that Frisk likely had to swallow down some magic food in order to start moving through the snow like he did. But I find it hard to believe that just food could heal something like this entirely.
It's also really bad for ice or ice water to make contact with the burn as it could damage the tissue. So, his scars are most likely exacerbated from running around in the snow with so little on & no first aid.
I think the first thing Pap might have to do is try & heal Frisk, but they're monsters. They have bodies made of magic. Would they even have anything like aloe vera? If they do, it'd be in the Dunes area, but this is canon, right? So, would you even be willing to include?
This might be tricky, but regardless, even if the food does heal the scars to where Frisk isn't in danger of going blind & deaf on one side, I guarantee that he's liable to be tender & achy during a lot of the journey. (Sorry if that was too much. I tend to spiral sometimes.)
Anyway, putting that aside for a bit, if Pap does take Frisk around town, I imagine that the convos go relatively well until the kid begins to come out of his shell. At that point, Pap might try to encourage him to try & make conversation, too. And I even think it'd go fairly well at first. But nothing ever goes completely to plan, especially considering what some residents have to says regarding humans & the monsters' plans.
I definitely see Pap trying to shake his head when it first happend, but they're too wrapped up & now the kiddo's got this wide-eyed look on his face.
Though, as much as I love Grillby, I doubt that Pap would take Frisk there. And, provided that Sans still does the thing with the shortcut to Grillby's, I think the kid might have a tiny bit of an episode.
I just... befriending Grillby might have to wait until after Hotland. Which in & of itself might take a whole lot longer than it normally would.
Like, I forsee a large number of panic attacks & breakdowns in the future once that happens.
... Do you think that Papyrus would ask for Frisk's name here? If only to try & get their mind off of... really bad, depressing things?
---
Alright, onto the next one!
Personally, I think that in this situation, Pap would most likely try to keep the fact that Frisk is human hidden for as long as he is able. So, even though I don't see him as the sort who's very good as far as stealth goes. I do think he'd go that route anyway.
Either way, if he were to learn that the scars were from a monster that Frisk thought he could trust, it'd likely sting Pap pretty awful. Because I'm not sure if he ever thought that another monster could do something like that. Even still, I'm certain that he'd apologize. In, like, a normal voice. Because, I dunno. I guess that he seems like the type to go inside voice in these situations.
As for Sans, I'm actually not too sure.
For Undyne, due to the anime watching, she should know that those sorts of marks generally only come about due to scarring. But I'm not sure which anime she'd see for her to learn that. I know that Todoroki Shoto from My Hero Academia has similar scars, but I don't think it was out yet when UT came out...
Regardless, I think she might either assume Frisk tried to commit arson & ended up getting what he deserved, that he got it in some epic fight on the surface & that it must mean that he's obviously a really short warrior, or that he has some super tragic backstory that eats away at him inside. (Which, not too far off with the last one, I gotta say.) Either way, I see her making an ugly comment at some point.
However, I think that upon learning that kiddo got it from a monster that he trusted, I think... that she'd initially be in disbelief, then denial.
Alphys likely already knows about both the scars & the fact that they were from a monster that Frisk trusted by the time that they arrive in Hotland, but I just... I don't see Alphys going the same route as in canon here. Not with Frisk, at least. Because, in this situation, Frisk is likely even more terrified than Alphys. If anybody's a hero here, it's Pap. Frisk reads more as an abuse survivor. So, I just... don't see Alphys doing what she did before. If you keep to the Mettaton show stuff, it'll have to be due to Mettaton choosing to anyway even after Alphys calls it off. And, at that point, Alphys will need to actually legitimately be helping them while not realizing that she is...
In some ways... I think that Alphys might shine in this situation. Because here, she has the chance to help someone even more anxious & afraid than her. And, as a result, I think she'd see a bit of herself in Frisk.
Now, I do think that Alphys would still try to keep the fact that the game shows had been rigged before from them until the final one, but at that point, I think that Mettaton would switch things up even more than in the game.
If so, then once it comes out. I think that, she'd really, legitimately feel apologetic for not telling the 2 earlier. And... I also think that, in this situation, Frisk would recognize in her a similar fear & anxiety.
... And... I think that he'd tell her that he understood. And that he thought she was very brave. That she could've kept trying to trick them in order to make herself look good, but she didn't. And, because she wasn't trying to do that, she actually did help them.
In a way... I actually think that Alphys could really be a hero here. Maybe not a big super anime hero, but an actual hero.
I'm actually surprised. I think this may be the au where Alphys could learn a bit better how to be a good person. And... if so... I think she might begin to try harder to be brave & do the actual right thing rather than what makes her look good.
In fact... she might even turn down Undyne's offer for a date, telling her that she needed to show them something. Like, I believe that she'd very visibly be afraid, but she'd also be surprisingly determined to show them the truth. So, I guess what I'm saying is that I can actually see Alphys showing Pap & Frisk, heck maybe even Undyne too, around the True Lab herself.
Very interrsting!
Though, only if you decide as much. This is all just suggestions.
Moving on, I can't help but think that Mettaton can only make himself look bad here. I mean, think about it.
First game show goes into romance a lot & one of the questions is, "Would you kiss a [blank]?" Since Pap knows, I think he'd interject, like, "E! NONE OF THE ABOVE! THEY ARE A CHILD & ARE THEREFORE NOT ALLOWED UNTIL OLDER!" Like, these shows are live, remember. In this situation, everyone in the Underground is now aware that the human is a child. Which, if nothing else, should cut down on the number of fights that Frisk & Pap may need to go through.
And, depending on whether or not Mettaton continues on with the plan, he might end up finding his ratings tanking. So... I'm not really sure how he'd react to this information.
As for Asgore... Hoy vey, he'd be horrified. I'm not even sure if he'd be able to go through with it. I know that he'd at least hesitate.
And to learn that one of his subjects had done this to the child. To know that they had made the boy trust them before harming him so... I think that might shake him. Possibly to his core. I think it might make him question if they were even worth saving.
For the final part: Woof! XD
This took some time, compadre!
Anyway, no matter what, each & every one of them will be horrified. None more so than Pap & Asgore. Like, Skelebro & Goatdad are teaming, my guy! They teaming up & if we ain't careful, they're gonna cacoon the kid in bubblewrap!
As for Undyne, she's gonna be in disbelief. Maybe a bit of a daze. And... I feel like this would... well, I'd utterly upend her perception of... literally everything!
Like, her entire life. Things have been simple.
Monsters: Good & Compassionate & Merciful.
Humans: Evil & Heartless & Merciless.
And even learning that Frisk was a goodie didn't really shake her of this. And, sure, learning that a monster that the brat trusted had done so much damage to the kid definitely shook her up a bit, but she recovered quickly, think that it was just the one.
But THIS???
This would completely shatter any & all delusions she had in this regard. It would show her that... Monsters can evidently live just fine without compassion or mercy, too. And with no less difficulty than humans.
I see her just sort of slowly raising her hand to put in on her head. Eyes wide as she watched in stunned silence. And when it's over, she just sort of turns away leans against a wall. Eyes still wide as her eyes sort of shift back & forth the way they do. Processing. After that, I think she'd just sort of walk off without a word. Just to think. Like, super super deeply.
Alphys most likely already knew. She had a live viewing of them, after all. And, if I'm right, is likely the one showing the videos to the others. Most likely away from Frisk so they don't have an episode.
Sans, I don't see reacting much more than the occasional flinch & maybe turning away for a moment when it gets really bad.
Like, he kinda already watched it, didn't he? I mean, he was there live & in person. Though, maybe he'd feel a bit more guilty about it at this point. He'd have actually had time to get to know the kid to a degree, so maybe he might feel a bit worse about having not put in as much effort in trying to take care of the kid as he should've.
Though, I also think the lack of response from him would understandably worry Pap very deeply.
Not as sure if Mettaton would've seen them all before, but if not, then he might lose his cool a bit here.
(One more thing. I think a very important part of Frisk's eventual recovery will end up being befriending Grillby & possibly Fuku Fire. But, that's more of a far off into the future idea.)
Either way, this was a pretty surprising though experiment!
Definitely time-consuming, though! 😅
What if Frisk was a poor traumatized kid that doesn't know about the resets, killed monsters in self-defense and now Papyrus has to protect Frisk from everyone?
*Frisk was a pacifist at first.
*But when Toriel attacked Frisk with fire, the child was scared of dying and killed her in self-defense (with Toriel forgiving the child).
*Toriel was Frisk's first kill.
*Frisk has burn scars on his face and hands from the battle.
*The trauma from both being betrayed/scarred by someone he trust and accidentally destroying that person was too much for Frisk.
*They were filled with terror and anger and determination to survive.
*After leaving the Ruins, Frisk keeps getting attacked by monsters and Frisk begs them to leave him alone, but they don't, and Frisk is forced to destroy them in self-defense to save himself (and Frisk doesn't enjoy it).
*It's either them or him, and Frisk chooses his life (which makes sense).
*Even though it's technically not a genocide, Papyrus still offers Frisk forgiveness and a hug, if they stop attacking others... Frisk breaks down in heartbreaking yet relieved tears and collapses in the snow... Papyrus rushes to pick Frisk up and properly sees Frisk's burn scars for the first time.
Frisk: "Y-Y-You're the first one that stopped trying to hurt me!"
*Papyrus is filled with guilt, horror and protectiveness when he truly sees that Frisk is a child, a scared and confused child that just wants to go home.
*Sure, Frisk killed, but the monsters tried to kill them first and harvest their soul for war.
*Who is Papyrus to judge a little kid that's been scarred for life, both physically and mentally?
*Papyrus vows to protect Frisk from any more scars, especially from Undyne.
*Although he won't admit it, Sans is scared of Frisk and is trying to convince Papyrus to give Frisk to Undyne or Asgore.
*Meanwhile, Flowey is having the time of his life with all the chaos happening.

😫 AAAAAAAHHHH!!!! I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE WITH WAITING FOR THE NEXT EPISODE OF @mels-magic-emporium’s OTFS FANFIC!!!! I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WITH HER STINKIN’ SCHOOL SCHEDULE AND ALL BUT NOW I’M LEFT WITH NO CHOICE BUT TO COME UP WITH PREDICTIONS OF WHAT MAY HAPPEN IN THE NEXT EPISODE!!!!:
After Barley defeats “Callum” (Ian in Callum’s body) Barley and Isa turn to “Ian”, (Callum in Ian’s body) they run and congratulate “Ian” even with Barley hugging “him” only for “Ian” to smirk and say something like “☠️😈 It’s a shame that you killed your own brother, but I find it absolutely worth it 😈☠️” and Barley, upon realization, backs away from “Ian” as he transforms back to Callum
Isa distracts Callum in a fight long enough for Barley to swim after his now unconscious brother who’s beaten and bruised and pulls him out of the water
Shortly after the fight between Isa and Callum, Callum makes a clean “☠️😈 You haven’t seen the last of me 😈☠️” kind of getaway
Barley gets his phone that he left behind when he dove in the water after Ian to frantically call for an ambulance as he tries to perform CPR on Ian
The ambulance arrives just in time to put Ian on a gurney and hook up him up to oxygen tubes as Barley voluntarily stays by Ian’s side on the ambulance ride
Once at the hospital, Barley stays by Ian’s bed side even though the tragic fourth memory of his dad comes back to haunt him when he sees Ian in that similar state and he immediately balls his eyes out in pain while holding Ian’s hand with both hands and mutters under his breath “I’m so sorry Ian, I didn’t mean for this to happen to you”
Ian manages to slowly wake up from his unconsciousness to find himself in the hospital and wonders “Where…Where am I?” and turns to find Barley crying holding his hand with both hands and replies in a weak relieved tone “B-Barley” where Barley is relieved and overjoyed and calls Isa, their mom Laurel, and their stepdad Colt Bronco
Laurel is relieved to see Ian but is rather stern and scared in a “Where on earth have you been” kind of way
💘🥹 Of course there’s Colt telling Ian in a calm tone “Hey there ya workin’ hard?…” and Ian replies in a happy weak tone “…Nope *painful grunt* hardly workin *weak laugh*” 🥹💘
Of course Barley would ask if he and Isa can be alone with Ian
Ian feels the scars on his face and horrifically asks what happened to him
Barley blames himself and apologizes by saying it was his fault that he ended up that way, likely assuming Ian would hate him for it….
…But Isa would reassure Barley that it wasn’t his fault and Callum used a spell to switch their bodies, something that Ian vividly remembers
Ian would try apologizing to Barley for what he said but Barley would reassure him that Isa told him what happened and accepts his apology
Ian would then ask what happened to Callum only for Isa to tell him he got away, leading Ian to be determined to go after him but his frail body being to weak to move where Barley reassures him that he needs to recover much to Ian’s dismay but also reassures him that they will stop Callum together once he fully recovers
After visiting hours, the moment Barley starts to leave, Ian pleads for him to stay with him where Barley reassures him that he told their mom that he’s planning to stay overnight with him and is just leaving to pack his essentials to take overnight and some “childhood surprises” for Ian
Barley comes back with his essentials for staying overnight and the “childhood surprises” for Ian which are Ian’s favorite bedtime storybook that Barley read to him when they were kids, Ian’s “bug quest” discovery notebook, and a personal scrapbook Barley made of every single memory they had together as kids
Barley and Ian look through the scrapbook of all their childhood memories and have a good laugh together, then looking through Ian’s “bug quest” discovery notebook where Ian jokingly recalls the memory of that one (not so) cute bug species that left Barley in cuts and bruises and how their mom scolded him for touching that (not so) cute bug where Barley retorts “Well I couldn’t help it if it looked so cute and adorable” and having the episode end with Ian asking Barley to read him his favorite bedtime storybook to him where in the middle of Barley reading the story, Ian starts to fall asleep on Barley’s shoulder as he carefully lifts Ian’s head off his shoulder and lays his head on the pillow where Barley changes into his boxer brief pj’s and lays down on the couch by Ian’s hospital bed having troubled thoughts at first about Callum being who knows where and the idea of him hurting Ian again before managing to drift off to sleep

I've always loved the "Rebel leader Lance" AU. Like Lance wasn't with them with they all left in the lion and the Galra still came after Earth. Like maybe switch the Blue lion for the Yellow or Green???? Lance becomes one of the main leaders, almost everyone in his team is good with a gun. Things start to get bad and he figures out how to use one of the comms from the Galra ship scraps, sends out a distress call. Here comes the BoM and Antok who captures Lance's heart. Ugh I'm a sap for this
Let me just say….SAME!!!! I love rebel!Lance and wish that there was so much more for this au!!!! There are so many ways that we can get this and it’s such an unexplored idea and I just need more of this.
Amazing idea btw; I can see Lance heading off to the simulators and asking Hunk to grab pidge so they can practice more, only for both of them to never come back and scaring Lance like crazy. He’s super bummed because his best friend and this little gremlin they have barely gotten to know are both just gone with no explanation.
Then fast forward a couple weeks/months, and suddenly there are giant battle cruisers in the sky demanding that they surrender and are taking over parts of the world. Most of the garrison faculty have either been killed or captured and there’s pretty much no one else trying to fight them, so Lance starts a rebel base inside the now shut down garrison school. gaining more and more people into his little army who want to protect their families (some people even bringing them with them for protection). Fathers, mothers, siblings, people that are ready to bring the fight to the galra, everyone sees the rebels as a sign of hope and are willing to help in the fight.
Lance’s team I can tell would all have handheld guns but would also be skilled in different styles of fighting and weapons. One would be good with a staff; another with a sword, etc etc, and of course the leader/sniper Lance.
But just when they’re finally gaining ground and actually making a dent in the empire; they’re faced with a weapon that could destroy their world if used. Lance and the other appointed leaders all know that there’s no way they can destroy that weapon with the meager supplies and weapons they have. They need help. And Lance recalls he ship that had crash landed not too far by, the thing that led the galra to their planet in the first place, and gets one of his usual amazing ideas. He and one of the technicians sneak over to the ship and make connection with a ulaz, who tells them that help is on the way.
Enter the BoM, aka antok, Who with help from Lance and his rebels are able to take down the weapon as well as a major galra facility. When the BoM show the rebels that they are in fact galra themselves; some of the rebels are afraid or scared that they’ve just been played for; but Lance understands. They don’t agree with what the empire is doing, and they’ve chosen to fight against it as well. Lance thanks them for their help and asks if they will help get the rest of the galra off their planet.
It takes months of work and planning, and understanding their new allies (and some romantic tension between Lance and a particular galra) But they do it. They are able to destroy every last galra facility on their planet and are able to watch the galra flee from their planet. They set up a satellite device that will pretty much hide earth from any and all scans, hiding in plain sight so that the galra will think that the planet has been destroyed. Lance is elated to know that their planet is now free and can start to rebuild; but he also knows that the galra are still out there, and probably have taken over many more planets than just earth. So he asks the BoM if he and anyone else who wishes to join the fight can go with them and help with the fight against the galra. They agree and Lance with some of his most loyal rebels who also wish to continue the fight leave earth with a communication device so that they can stay in touch.
They join the BoM and Lance and antok get closer and closer, but they still refrain from actually telling each other their feelings; that is until Lance’s team just out right states that Lance thinks antok is hot and shoves the two of them together, smirking when they do finally confess and kiss.
It’s some time after that when voltron comes to the blade of marmora looking for an alliance. Lance and antok have been officially together for months (or the equivalent to months in space time) and Lance and his human team are shocked to see not only that the voltron paladins are humans, but one of them is Takashi Shirogane, the pilot of the Kerberos mission!
Lance takes part in the trials, enjoying the feeling a little too much of pretty much beating up Keith. But when he follows Kolivan and antok onto the castle of lions and sees Hunk and pidge there as well, he’s overwhelmed with feelings, taking hold of Antok’s hand for support when he finally reveals his face and Hunk and Pidge are shocked to see him; older looking and baring some nasty scars and somehow apart of the BoM.
It’s a bit startling at first for antok, watching as Lance pulls away bit by bit after they join voltron, and antok wants to say something, but he doesn’t want to take Lance away from his friends or what could possibly be his new family. But it gets to be too much for him and he asks Lance if he wants to leave him, to which Lance promptly tells him that the day that Lance will willingly leave Antok’s side is when he’s on his death bed. Lance apologizes for being so distant and making Antok question their relationship and promises that he doesn’t want to split up. They spend more time together after that, making sure that they always come back to each other at the end of the day.
Aaaaaaahhhh! I just love this au so much!!!!!!
