Fresh Blood [Yandere L x Vampire!Reader]
Title: Fresh Blood [Yandere L x Vampire!Reader]
Synopsis: Vampires aren’t real. Everyone knows that. Except for L Lawliet, who knows the truth: vampires are very, very much real… and you’re one of them.
Word Count: 2400ish
Notes: yandere, mentions of death and non-graphic violence, reader is a vampire
Tumblr media
You haven’t seen the sunrise in several lifetimes. And you would never see it again, unless you were eager to burst into flames and turn into nothing but crumbling, black dust.
It wasn’t true that vampires were weak against garlic (you didn’t mind it, on nights when you ate human food); or crosses (pretty things, especially in silver); or even gunshots (though they hurt like a bitch). But the sun, well--the sun was a surefire way to turn what was immortal into nothing at all.
So, the sunrise was out. So were all the little things that went with it; glistening dewdrops and deer making their way to the edge of the forest in the dappled light of the sunrise. The soft call of birds waking up the world. The quiet, hum of life beginning in the city, in the country, everywhere and anywhere.
But… you don’t regret this loss anymore. Once, when poked and prodded by someone else in your clan during one of their melancholy bouts, you’d quipped: “I’m just not a morning person--it’s fate!” and flashed your sweetest grin.
Your morning had been replaced by the night. Though, thanks to the advent of incredibly efficient blackout blinds and curtains, you could usually wake up a bit earlier and get a few things in before you headed out for the evening. For blood or clan meetings or--more common--both.
You love the routine that it creates, really. You wake up. You shower. You watch a little TV, if you’re in the mood. You might practice the piano or rearrange some books in your library. And then you get dressed--something modest, elegant; your closet was filled with classic pantsuits and expensive silver jewelry that shined in the evening light--and leave.
And in that evening, that black evening, who knows what you’ll do? Who you’ll meet or eat, what you’ll see.
And when the darkness begins to wane, you head home. You shower. You throw your clothes, if they’re bloody, into cold water to soak for the night. You change into pajamas. You go into your bedroom. You lock the door. You lock the windows. You sleep, dreamless, in the dark.
And then you wake up the next evening and start everything over again.
--
Someone has been inside your apartment. Someone has been inside your apartment.
Someone has been inside your apartment.
The thought repeats itself in your brain until it becomes a boiling, blurry scream that threatens to burst out of your chest. Your fingers clench into fists, and if you could bleed, it would be pouring out from the sharpness of your nails digging into your palm.
There is a hair in your sink. It’s not your hair. It’s black, somewhat long, curled up against the white porcelain like a baby. Something that anyone else might dismiss, shrug away, or miss entirely. But the sight of it is as obvious to you as a smear of red blood against the porcelain tile.
Your fingers reach out, trembling, and grasp the offending hair in your fingertips.
You stick your tongue to it, thinking--desperately, your enraged brain becoming somewhat delirious--you might be able to track the offender down by their taste. But it’s hair, disconnected from anything living, and all it does is make you peel it off and toss it into the trash in a fit.
Who would dare enter your domain? A vampire's home was their sanctuary. Invitations were everything. Especially to you, who guarded yourself so securely; you aimed to get to the top of society, and you didn’t do that by throwing open your home to anyone who waltzed nearby.
So who… the fuck… has been in your house?
--
You’re a vampire.
The revelation is not something that L cares to share with anyone else, although he will eventually have to tell Watari about it in order to pull through with the logistics of his plans. The information is, strictly speaking, need-to-know. And who else would believe him?
But the pathways this knowledge opened up were surely something he could appreciate. Vampires were real. So what else was real? What else, dismissed as a ridiculous myth borne out of horror stories, might really be lurking in the dark?
It was a double pleasure, that his interest in you led to this discovery--and surely many more in the future.
He saw you walking past his favorite cafe one evening. You looked attractive, which wasn’t an immediate draw for him. Plenty of people were pretty. But something about you made you stand out like an oil painting amidst crude pencil drawings. It was like you glowed.
And he did enjoy things that stood out from the crowd.
He can still remember the early days, staking out (he pardons his own pun) your apartment, jotting down every little detail about you. Your schedule was strange. No stranger than his, he supposed at the time, but certainly unusual for some random civilian.
You never went outside until it was dark. You didn’t seem to sleep, or at least not in your bedroom. You didn’t eat.  Yet you never looked tired or sick.
Your home had blackout film and blackout blinds and blackout curtains and, to top it off, blackout screens that could be pulled over each window. Your fridge never had food, only bags and bottles of the same red liquid, too thick to be a fruit smoothie.
And curious, curious, curious… there was not a single mirror in your home. Not one in the bathroom. Not one in the hallway, or your bedroom, or stuck behind the closet of your wardrobe.
Why the strangeness? What were you hiding? What made you different?
It made him need to know more about you.
And more.
And more.
And now… he knows things that humans were never meant to know. At least, humans who weren’t about to become blood bags for creatures like you.
He knows every step in your routine, every detail about your home life and public life and as much as he’s been able to sketch out in between. He knows what songs you play on the piano, how many blood bags you have in your fridge, what songs you hum under your breath while you get ready to leave your home and drain someone of their blood for your dinner.
He knows that you’re hundreds, if not thousands of years old, and that you subsist on the blood of people whom you kill and drain night upon night.
The cameras helped with all that. They’d been there for longer than he anticipated, given your observant nature. Maybe you were cocky. That would help, certainly, with his plans.
He saw you find his hair in the sink (he planted it, naturally) and smiled as he watched you through your little tantrum. What would you do, if--when, he corrects himself, you’re too smart not to find them--you noticed the cameras?
What will you do when you notice the other things he has touched? He’s left himself all over your apartment, bit by bit, waiting with a gnawed-on thumb to see what you do.
Oh you, you, you.
He couldn’t tell if you were unlucky that he decided he needed you, or if he was unlucky that the one person he became invested in wasn’t actually a human being. Maybe a bit of both. It certainly made it trickier to figure out how to approach the problem of your continued freedom.
You were slippery.
L didn’t like it when things he wanted were slippery.
--
You’re going to kill someone.
Who that someone is has yet to be determined. But you will determine it, and you will find them, and end their life--a pathetic, measly thing, no doubt--in the most viscous way possible.
No amount of blood, no amount of meditation, will ease your broiling anger.
The hair on the sink came first.
And then, little things. A picture frame, tilted just-so in the opposite direction. A rug shifted an inch to the left.
And now… now this absolutely infuriating middle-finger-to-you. An unmistakable gesture that could not be ignored or brushed off or brooded over.
This demanded action.
There was a mirror at the end of the hallway. The glass glistened dully, reflecting nothing, even as you stood right in front of it. You’d made it as far as the hallway after coming home from your evening feeding, intent on grabbing the comfiest robe from your bedroom before you hit the shower.
And then you saw the mirror.
Your nostrils flare, and you’re about to bash your hand against the glass to smash it into a thousand pieces, when something shifts in your field of vision.
There’s someone in the mirror. Behind you, next to you, or rather, next to where your reflection would be if you had one.
It’s a man with dark eyes and messy hair and a calm, but undeniably pleased expression on his face. Your brain flashes a thought--like a cat licking up cream--before you whirl around, breath cold with rage, and launch yourself at his face with your sharpened nails ready to gouge out an eye.
But you don’t get to gouge out an eye. You don’t get to do anything. Because as soon as you whirl around, he pulls something--a rope?--and morning sunlight bursts into your living room. You jerk back, keeping yourself in the protection of the darkened hallway.
“Who the fuck are you?” You spit.
The man drops the rope and sticks his fingers in his pockets. He smiles at you. A calm, sweet expression that he should not be wearing at this moment. Yet he is, somehow. It makes you want to sew his lips shut with a needle and thread. It makes you want to pull out his teeth. It makes you want to keep him alive for weeks as you drain him again and again.
“There will be time for introductions later,” he says, almost murmuring. “Right now, you’re clearly in a state of agitation, and not likely to remember personal details, anyway.” His gaze seems to appraise you. “You do have a temper, don’t you?” He raises his eyebrows. “I’m surprised, given what I saw on the cameras.”
Your cold chest seems to grow icier still.
“The what?”
He gestures languidly around. “I’ve set up quite a few. I thought you’d notice. But you were too busy with your clandestine meetings, I suppose.” He suddenly claps his hands and raises his eyebrows in an odd, reassuring gesture. “Don’t worry, I didn’t put one in your bathroom, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
You wish,  for once, that your non-living breath might be hot instead of cold. It might better reflect your mood.
Your eyes dart around the room and now, now, you finally see the microscopic cameras installed around the space. In the corner of the ceiling. On a figurine in your bookshelf. No doubt the other rooms would yield similar findings.
You would rip them out one by one, and then rip out his spleen. Or maybe an eye. Whatever hurt worse and kept him along the longest.
You stare at this man, whose hair was in your sink, whose fingers touched your belongings, whose feet crossed your threshold--until you’re sure that your gaze would kill, if you had that power.
“I’m going to kill you,” you say, finally. You bare your fangs. You think, stupidly, of simply launching yourself at him and hoping you’re fast enough to grab him and pull him back into the darkened hallway before the sunlight kills you.
Rage makes you stupid, but only for a moment. You keep your legs still on the carpet, eyeing him with utter contempt.
He watches you. He hums.
“You might try.”
Your eyes glance around the room, behind you in the hallway, looking for the best second option. Your bedroom? If you can get in there, you can get to your phone.  A quick call to another member of your clan, and they’ll be here. And then you can take your time killing him, slow and methodical.
“Ah,” he says, as if he can sense your train of thought. “I wouldn’t recommend going into the bedroom. Or the bathroom. Or any of the rooms, really.” He gestures towards the bottom of your bedroom door, and you turn to look.
Sunlight can be seen peeking through the edge.
“I took the liberty of uninstalling everything on the other windows, too. You’re quite thorough, but so am I.”
You bare your teeth at him again.
“Are you going to kill me?” It’s a challenge, all puffed up, perhaps your last words before he pulls out a stake or something else he’d concocted to end your immortal existence.
He stares at you, eyebrows raised.
“Kill you?” The question is said in such a soft, incredulous tone, as if what you asked was simply absurd.
Was he not a vampire hunter? Though most humans thought vampires were myths, there were a few now and then who figured it out and tried to hunt your kind down.
This man was apparently not one of those few.
He pulls something out of his pocket. It looks like a gun,
“It will be easier to keep you here for now, once I get a proper containment room set up for you.” He gestures at the blackout set-up that he dismantled. “Don’t worry, it will be blacked out.” He sticks his hands back in his pockets. “You’ve done some of my work for me already, with your isolated schedule, so it will be a while before anyone notices something’s amiss. I do need to get you transported sooner than later, especially if…”
You listen, mute with rage and something else, as he drones on; detailing how he is going to keep you and subdue you and transfer you somewhere else--nice and dark, he assures you. As he speaks, there’s an increasing unfamiliar sensation that squirms under your skin like worms. Not anger. Not confusion. But…
Fear.
As he raises the gun and you see--too late--that the end is marked with some kind of tranquilizer, the thought comes:
Is this what it’s like to be the prey?

PoliZ's WIP Update - 27 Dec 2023
A slow-ish writing week, but I’m okay with that, considering the holidays. I touched  4 fics (3 new works & 1 WIP)  for a total of  1917 words.
On Ao3, I posted:
Three holiday ficlets:
Deck the Halls -  a No Powers AU Stucky meet cute/meet ugly while dealing with a Karen.
Making Room  - Post-Endgame Morgan and Tony talking about a family friend  (background WinterPepperony)
I Need a Little Angel Sitting On My Shoulder - No Powers platonic Stony AU with Tony in recovery and Steve as his sponsor.
Reluctant Four Footed Heroes -  Established relationship Stucky + Alpine and Dodger
Chapter Nine of  Never More to Go Astray -  Star Wars fusion with eventual Stuckony - finally wrapping up this fic!
On Tumblr I posted:
A (Not So) Misplaced Gift -  Bucky isn’t sure what to do with the magical gift he’s been given; Steve has some insight.
I have 16 semi-active WIPs   that I’ll be carrying over into the new year 😬 with my  current  deadlines being the Stucky’Verse Bingo which wraps on 29 Dec and the Bucky Barnes Bingo which wraps on 10 Jan.
See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!
Seek & Destroy Collab
After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing   Morguna and the Green Queen, I  got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked  Faustie into   collab’ing with me!  We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve  contributed about 900 words towards the  2500-ish we have so far.   Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.
Stucky’Verse Bingo Round 1 - [SVB_R1]   (Ends 22 29 Dec)
Seventeen  fills, three  WIPs and a couple of ideas.  Have one bingo & am shooting for hopefully one more bingo with the fics listed below - thanks to the mods extending the deadline by a week!
* B2- Pets - Posted Reluctant Four Footed Heroes  on Monday.  It was  inspired by a round of square interpretation during the BBB Discord party.  Stucky domestic shenanigans with Alpine & Dodger which  came in at 226 words.
* A4 - Fairy Tale Curse  - Despite being custom-made for a continuation of Beyond the Beast,  I just haven’t been able to to pull anything together in time.  😞
* C2 - Meet Ugly - Posted  Deck the Halls  on Friday - a No Powers AU holiday fic that crossed over with my Winter Break Advent calendar prompt Day 1:  Putting Up Holiday Decorations at the Hospital.  It came in at 517 words.
Bucky Barnes Bingo  - [BBB_R5]   (Ends 10 Jan 2024)
I’ve got  twenty-two fills for  four bingos, four WIPs,   and a couple more Vague ideas. Aiming for a blackout - we’ll see how close I get!
* B3 - Sunrise/Sunset -  squished this into Chapter Nine of  Never More to Go Astray  to wrap up my Star Wars fusion fic with  Jedi!Steve,  Mandalorian!Bucky and fugitive!Tony in a Stuckony finale.  It came in at 781 words and posted this morning.
* U3 - Fireplace -  posted  Making Room  on Friday - a soft WinterPepperony + Morgan holiday ficlet that came in at 256 words.
* C2 - Yelena Belova–   The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik,  (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is I poked at a little recently and is currently sitting at 1551  words (800-ish of which are mine).
* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple -  planning to use this in the next chapter of   Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion.    Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.
* K3 - Magic -  Wrote up A (Not So) Misplaced Gift as a crossover with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt   [#FFF232 Among Any Option]. It came in at 301 words and will  post to Ao3 before this event ends.
* May Adopted - Insomnia - finally got this filled with The Dead of Night, which also filled a Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF211 An Old Friend] along with my JBB FREE square. It came in at 317 words and will post to Ao3 before this event ends.
* August Adoptable: Take the Shot - Got inspired by a  discussion over on the BBB Discord server about which Avengers would be the best at pool/billiards -  pulled in a BaBB December prompt: Wingman and kept my original  WinterHawk pairing to write up It’s In the Way That You Use It - a No Powers AU with a meetup at a bar pool table - Natasha and Steve acting as the wingman/woman. It’s coming in at 1313 words and will post Friday.
Tony Stark Bingo Round 7  - [TSB_R7]   (ends 15 Feb)
Twenty-one  fills and zero WIPs as of the moment, with a couple of ideas in play.
* S1 - Galaxy -  see BBB Sunrise/Sunset.
* T2 - KINK: Cock-blocking 'bots -  I still want to combine this with  the  Fictober Day 27: prompt   "I don't know if they will accept this."
* T5 - Shawarma - possible crossover with SAUB Canon Divergence – Battle of New York-related?
* A2 - KINK: Concubine - possible crossover with SAUB Gentle Dom  and SRB Multiple Submissives.  I’ve got a fairly fleshed out  (so to speak) story in mind   (Dom!Tony/sub!Steve/sub!Bucky) - just need to get it on paper.
* A3 -  FREE  – @SomeSortofItalianRoast and I are looking at collabing on a  Steve/Tony/Scott fic - still need to throw some ideas around on this.
* R5 - Doppelganger/Evil Twins -   The Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF214 Broken Mirror] got me at least a good start on the idea I’ve been playing with for this square. I posted NamNori on Tumblr and have a general idea of how I want to build on it to also fill my SAUB AU: Crack square. It’s currently sitting at 360 words.
Stony AUniverse Bingo  [SAUB_R1] (ends 15 Feb)
Another brand-new bingo I’m helping co-mod!   Six fills, three WIPs and several  crossover ideas already!
* S1 - Edging - Filled this with Ringing in the New, where Tony makes a suggestion to improve/change up their love life. It’s a crossover with a Flash Fiction Friday prompt: How Do You Use ‘It’? and came in at 324 words - I will post it to Ao3 before the event is over.
* S2 - AU: Crack - see TSB   Doppelganger/Evil Twins
* S3 - AU: Wings - possibly Chapter Three of     Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole   - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right),

* T1 - AU: Fantasy -  CoffeeOwl shared a really cool dragon!Steve/indebted!Tony prompt in the ACB Discord server that I may be playing with for this.
* T4 - AU: Canon Divergence - see TSB Shawarma above.
* T5 - AU: No Powers - Posted I Need a Little Angel Sitting On My Shoulder last Friday.  Tony’s struggling with his sobriety during the holidays and reaches out to his sponsor, Steve.   It came in at 484 words and will post on the 18th.
* O2 - Omegaverse - I have a Vague Idea inspired by  @kandisheek’s lovely art piece.
* N2 - Mutual Pining - crossover with CABB Royal Knight?
* N3 - Gentle Dom - see TSB KINK: Concubine above

* Y4 - AU: Soulmates  -  @chrissihr  posted a cool idea about Animated soulmarks, where  only your SM sees your mark move - may try to do something with this!
Captain (America) Bottom Bingo - Round 2 [CABB] (ends 28 Feb 2024)
I signed up for a 3x3 card for this bingo and have four fills, two WIPs and a couple of crossover ideas.
* A2 - Secret/Forbidden Relationship - see SVB Harem
* B3 - Royal Knight - see SAUB Mutual Pining.

One fill on my  2x3 non-fandom-specific card - still working on  potential crossovers.
* A1 - “It’s you. It’s always been you.” - This might fit in with my TSB Doppelgangers/Evil Twins fill NamNori above :: ponders::
* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on BBB or WIB (or even SVB)
*  C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint) possibly crossover with BBB Take the shot?
Steve Rogers Bingo - Round 3 [SRB_R3] (ends  15 Jun 2024)
Two fills  - need to ponder possible crossovers, especially with SAUB, SVB   & CABB.
* A2 - Age Difference - see SVB B4 - Sugar Daddy

Tigers in the Sky Chapter 1: American Patrol
https://archiveofourown.org/works/19095154/chapters/45367303
Stars streaked overhead, shearing through the clear dark sky with trails of light following. America watched the stars streaking across the sky as if everything were happening at half pace. Bursts of flame billowed from the horizon like a distant rising sun, and yet America couldn’t smell smoke nor determine the path of the flames.
He could only discern the fiery paths overhead and a warm sticky breeze gripping at his sides.
America opened his eyes to a blue void overhead dotted with faint wisps of cloud. Endless blue ocean stretched in all directions - water, water, and more water. He lay reclined on a wooden deck chair on the deck of the Dutch liner Jagersfontein as she sliced a line across the Pacific.
Only hours before at 1:20 PM sharp, the Jagersfontein had pulled away from her entourage of waving wives and girlfriends and then swiftly passed under the Golden Gate Bridge with the prudence of a working woman. The sea had quickly grown rough afterwards, so the men who’d vomited their farewell lunches over the rail after a swell quickly retreated into the liner’s interior. America had seen far worse himself, of course, so he smirked and waved at the men who passed by and then closed his eyes for a catnap right by the saltwater pool.
And then that odd dream had flashed before his eyes. China had once mentioned prophetic visions at a world meeting, though at the time America had been too preoccupied with his own grandiose ideas to listen to the rumors of a superstitious country.
Still, perhaps China’s words held some truth to them -- something about that vision felt dimly familiar to him. He briefly wondered how China was doing before remembering why he was aboard a Dutch liner in the first place.
He, along with the pilot boys and mechanics aboard the Jagersfontein , had been recruited straight out of the United States military for some civilian fighter pilot outfit currently being assembled in Burma to defend Free China’s last remaining supply route from the Japs -- an American Volunteer Group, or AVG for short, if you will. Every man traveled incognito with backgrounds ranging from Brooklyn to Selfridge Field and a made-up profession listed on his passport.
America’s own passport listed his profession as “doctor”, which he thought was a lie about as believable as a philanderer stating his profession as “missionary”. America didn’t look anything at all like a licensed medical professional even disregarding the baby fat rounding out his cheeks. Really, whoever made these things had obviously never spent more than a moment in a room with him present.
As for why he was heading out for a volunteer military mission during ostensible peacetime, well, he simply considered himself an American thrillseeker on an exotic adventure.
Sure, a monthly salary starting from $600 for a pilot -- around two to three times the monthly salary in the armed forces for a grunt -- and a commission of $500 for every Jap plane downed didn’t exactly hurt, but little could compare to the promised adventure of fighting Japs in the Orient like some comic strip hero. It wasn’t as if his government really needed him for anything for the duration of the year he would be contracted, anyway. President Roosevelt had handled himself fine for decades and would handle himself fine for many decades more.
Additionally, he’d always preferred fighter planes, having flown single-seat planes ever since their advent. An American-built truck of a fighter plane like the Curtiss P-40B would be like a second home to him. A thrill spread through his veins at the thought of soaring above foreign lands in the cockpit of a sturdy fighter.
He closed his eyes again. The vision didn’t return.
Laying there without sweet sleep or strange visions to entertain himself with was super boring, so he rose and headed inside to his room so that he could read his stash of action comic books atop his bunk.
For dinner, America sat at the head table with Captain Brower and a smattering of other volunteer pilots -- Jack Newkirk, James Howard, Bob Sandell, Charlie Mott, Bob Power, Mickey McGuire, and Hal Rushton, he learned their names were. He groaned when he saw the array of silverware spread before him as plate after plate of rich Dutch cuisine arrived at the table. His only relief was the apparent fact that few of the other pilots knew what to do with their forks either, a social faux pas he decided to cover up by cracking some jokes while characteristically ignoring the atmosphere.
As planned, he introduced himself to the boys with his human name of Alfred F. Jones, though he dodged questions about what exactly his middle name stood for and where exactly he hailed from and whatnot. He found that the conversation quickly shifted as the boys lost interest in his peculiar lack of backstory.
Later that night, America pulled out a small leather-bound notebook in his bedroom and set it on the provided desk. The porthole was closed as per the nightly blackout, so the air in his room was rather stifling with heat. He wasn’t allowed to turn on any lights either, so he’d have to write in the dark.
Apparently the Japs had previously threatened to sink the Jagersfontein over Tokyo Radio, at least according to hearsay, so America couldn’t really fault the captain for taking precautions. Still, he wasn't exactly happy about the sweat condensing on his forehead as he pulled his desk chair out and uncapped his pen.
July 10, 1941 , he dated the first page.
All Aboard! Today I’m off to Burma.
He tapped his pen against his chin in thought.
Our departure from San Fran was really uneventful besides a weird-ass vision I saw while snoozing. The accommodations here are way nicer than anything I’ve had in the past few years, so that’s swell. Don’t know which fork to use though.
It’s super dark right now here, so I’m not sure if I’m writing on the paper or on the desk right now. Maybe tomorrow I’ll play bridge with the boys after black-out.
He capped his pen after that. The darkness was straining his eyes.

Zechariah 6:1-7:14, Revelation 15:1-8, Psalms 143:1-12, Proverbs 30:24-28
Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. Today is Christmas Eve and even though this is another step forward in our journey through the Scriptures this is a very, very special day. Today is the last day of Advent, the season of Advent, which means that the long wait for the arrival of the Savior is almost over.
So, it’s Christmas Eve and, yeah, there's a lot of activity, a flurry of activity that happens on most Christmas Eve's and maybe this evening will include a candlelight service or maybe even a midnight service. And the joy, the joy of Christmas finally arriving is upon us. And even in the midst of all of that we have taken time to step away for second surround ourselves with some serenity and allow God's word to speak. And, so, this week we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible. Today, Zechariah chapter 6 verse 1 through 7:14.
Song:
"Angels We Have Heard On High" Sixpence None The Richer https://apple.co/2AAQP1p
Commentary:
Okay. So, like we talked about at the beginning of our time together today, this Christmas Eve and it's the final day of the Advent season. And, so, we probably have this sort of sense of anticipation, and even some joy in our hearts, and probably a pretty long to do list, right, in preparation for tomorrow. And, so, we might think, okay, how is today's reading supposed to have anything to do with Christmas? Well, in our reading from Zechariah we continue to hear of the visionary experiences that Zechariah was having, but within that we were reminded of the fundamental postures God requires of us. So, in Zechariah we heard today, “this is what the Lord of Heaven's armies says. Judge fairly and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners and the poor, and do not scheme against each other.” So, this command doesn't have any blackout dates. So, this command is something that's to be lived into today and if there were a season to live into this it would be Christmas. So, let's make sure that we plant this in our hearts as we move forward into the festivities ahead of us. Let’s make sure that we do that. Let's make sure that we show mercy and kindness to one another. And then we’re reading the book of Revelation and so we could also think, like, well this is the furthest thing from the nice cozy Christmas Spirit that I want to experience. I mean, John saw what seemed to be a sea made out of glass that was on fire. And upon this sea were those who endured. And we've been talking a lot about endurance lately, right, because the Bible keeps talking about. And to those who had endured and were on this glassy sea that was on fire, God gave these…those who endured…harps and they were singing the song of Moses and the song of the lamb. We may not think of their song as a Christmas Carol but think of it. “Great and marvelous are your works oh Lord, God the Almighty. Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations. Who will not fear you Lord and glorify your name for you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you for your righteous deeds have been revealed.” Well, that might not be a Christmas Carol about baby Jesus lying in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes, but this is a song coming from those who had endured who are singing the song of the Lamb and the song of Moses from a glassy sea. And who are they singing about? They’re singing about this baby born in a manger, the King of Kings and Lord of lords. So, this is a time to remember. We’re celebrating the first Advent right. Advent means arrival. And, so, that's what Christmas is. We’re celebrating the advent of the Savior, the arrival of the Savior but we’re longing for His return. And as we read what we've read in Revelation today, we are prophetically hearing worship in advance from the time that we’re longing to see when everything will be made new. So yes, this is a Christmas gift to us. We’re hearing worship in advance from a time when all is as it should be.
Prayer:
Father, we dwell on that. We take a moment to realize how big of a deal this is and that all that we long for will happen. And, so, as we complete the Advent season for this year and move toward Christmas day You have given us a song or a Carol as it were from a time when all is restored. And we long for this. And, so, we invite you, come Holy Spirit and allow us to truly meditate on your first arrival and our longing for your second arrival as we immerse ourselves for the final hours of this season and prepare to move into Christmas. Come Holy Spirit we pray. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is home base, its the website, its where you find out what's going on around here. So certainly stay tuned.
It’s such a lovely time to get to this day, and just really, really consider that here we are. Not only have we reached Christmas time but really are only a few steps away from completing our year together. And, so, yeah, tomorrow's gonna hit and it's gonna be a busy day and its gonna be full of activity and joy and wonder and it will be wonderful, but we’re here. We’re here right now in these moments. And, so, let's commit ourselves to having a contemplative day that we don't get just washed away by activity and forget what's really going on here and the reason for all of this celebration. So, I’m gonna go out to a candlelight service myself, my family tonight, probably drive around, look at Christmas lights. It’s usually our tradition to get together and we have some soup or just kind of have a low-key evening just with each other in anticipation for out tomorrow. Whatever your tradition is, I hope that it's a wonderful, wonderful experience. And just know that you’re in our hearts. Wherever you are and whatever you're doing you’re not alone. You are, for sure, in our hearts. I wish we could all just have a Christmas together, but I don't know what stadium would do that and I don't know where it would be in the world. It wouldn’t be cozy. And, so, we have to do this virtually but you are in our hearts and I pray that we are all in each other's hearts and that we are moving as a community into this Christmas season. So, Merry Christmas. I’ll be saying that again tomorrow, but bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And may this Christmas season be the most meaningful of your life. May you feel intertwined with Spirit of God and may that spirit give you joy knowing that this is all headed somewhere and where we are headed is unspeakably good because we are headed into the restoration of all things. All things are being made new and this is a reason to rejoice. So, Merry Christmas. I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Community Prayer and Praise:
Hello Daily Audio Bible family, this is John Corrado calling from the Christmas city, Bethlehem Pennsylvania. I hope you’re doing well. I’m so pumped up guys. I’m pumped up for Jesus arrival, can’t wait for that. But I’m pumped up more than anything just to give you guys a couple of quick updates and ask for your continued prayer, of course. So, first of all, love you guys. Thank you so much, every single one of you out there. Love you and I couldn’t live life without you. I apologize for any background noise here I’m on my cell phone in the car on my way to pick up my daughter Kelsey who is coming home from Los Angeles for Christmas from the airport. So, first of all, wow, I am pumped up and just a praise report there is like, Kelsey is coming home. She is living life, she’s going through life, she’s learning lessons and struggles. Life is a struggle. You know, we are promised that it’s gonna be hard, especially as Christians. And so, living up to its name. But she’s coming home and we’re so excited to have her home. And then thank you all so much for praying for my wife Andrea over the past really month and ½. You know, she’s doing really well, she is feeling well. We’re waiting for some results to hear back from the doctor but, like I said and posted on the DAB Friends page, God’s already got the victory in this and we believe truly in His healing power and strength. And no matter what, no matter what, we love God. We love our life and we’re so blessed and so thankful. I love you family. Merry Christmas and I’ll be back in touch again soon. God bless you.
Hi this is Will from Stroudsburg, formerly Will from Waynesborrow. I’ve been a listener since 2012. So, this will be completing my, I guess, seventh revolution around the sun listening to the Daily Audio Bible this year. I called in a few years ago when I was going through a really hard time. My ex-wife now basically just turned her whole personality around and we ended up getting divorced and it’s still a very strange situation with her with her, you know, alienating my children against me and everything else. But that’s not why I called. I called because I just heard Prodigal on the 21st reach out about how this is the worst year of his life, he’s thinking of committing suicide. And I just want to tell you man, when I was going through what I was going through, I literally spent 11 days in jail because I told my daughter that I loved her. That was the individual that I was dealing with and I lost everything. I lost my wife, I lost my house, I lost my vehicles, my job, I lost everything and had nothing. And I’m telling you, until you don’t have anything, until Jesus is all you have, you don’t realize that Jesus is all you need. So please, do not take what is God’s decision, the length of your life into your own hands. You must lean on Him and He will help you endure. So, I just wanted to call you with that encouragement. This is Will from Stroudsburg. Please Prodigal, reach back out and let me know that everything is going better for you. I’m praying for you. Love you brother. Bye.
Hi DAB family, this is Diane calling from Iowa and I’m calling in response to Duane from Wisconsin and his request for prayer. Duane you’ve been so faithful to pray for so many of us. So, I’m happy to pray for you. Sear family let’s pray. Dear God, we come before your throne of grace to lift up our brother Duane and his request for prayer. Lord he’s you requested prayer for visit that he’ll be having with his son who is currently incarcerated. And the Lord we pray for this visit. We pray for sweet fellowship between the two of them. We pray for your peace to fill the rooms and for love to abound between the two of them Lord. And we pray for healing and reconciliation for anything…anything that needs to be healed within the relationship. Lord, I also lift up Duane’s brother who is having hernia surgery and Lord I pray that you would guide the surgeon’s hands, that you would heal and restore his brother’s body from the surgery and that he would have a quick and speedy recovery. I pray all these things in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
Hi, this is Melissa from Houston and I just wanted to call because I just finished listening to the broadcast and I heard Prodigal call in and I wanted to say that, please don’t consider suicide. I understand that it’s hard to not consider it when things are so difficult, and I know __situation but it’s hard what you going through has been hard and it’s heartbreaking and it feels like loss. But I’m so certain in God and I know that God loves you and he still has something for you in spite of what you’re feeling. And I wanted to tell you that…I wanted to ask you not to make the decision that you can’t come back from and to let you know that people love you and that I heard your call. So, I wanted to tell you that I love you and there’s so much you more for you on the other side of this that I want to be able to see and I want you to be able to come from the other side of this and say, yeah, I thought about it. God is so good and everything that’s come out of this has been better for me not having done that. So, I know that this time is hard for a lot of people, but I want to just tell you that I love you, I love all of you. I didn’t get a chance to say Merry Christmas this year, but Merry Christmas and I hope you all have a very happy new year. And Prodigal, I hope I get to hear from you a lot more about good and sometimes the bad things, but I want to keep hearing from you. I love you. Merry Christmas and have a happy new year.

* S2 - AU: Crack - see TSB   Doppelganger/Evil Twins
* S3 - AU: Wings - possibly Chapter Three of     Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole   - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right),
* S5 - Accidental Baby Acquisition - see BBB Yelena Belova
* T1 - AU: Fantasy -  CoffeeOwl shared a really cool dragon!Steve/indebted!Tony prompt in the ACB Discord server that I may be playing with for this.
* T4 - AU: Canon Divergence - see TSB Shawarma above.
* T5 - AU: No Powers - Wrote up I Need A Little Angel Sitting On My Shoulder - Tony’s struggling with his sobriety during the holidays and reaches out to his sponsor, Steve.   It’s coming in at 461 words and will post on the 18th.
* O2 - Omegaverse - I have a Vague Idea inspired by  @kandisheek’s lovely art piece.
* N2 - Mutual Pining - crossover with CABB Royal Knight?
* N3 - Gentle Dom - see TSB KINK: Concubine above
* N5 - AU: Multiple Identities - Posted  The Secrets We Keep  to Tumblr.  It’s a first person alternating POV ficlet with mutual pining (and secret identity) Stony.   It came in at 314 words and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends.
* A2 - Secret/Forbidden Relationship - see SVB Harem
* B3 - Royal Knight - see SAUB Mutual Pining.
Post July Break Bingo  [JBB_23p] (Ends Apr 2024)
One fill  - need to ponder possible crossovers, especially with SAUB, SVB   & CABB.
* A2 - Age Difference - see SVB B4 - Sugar Daddy
* C5 - Exes to Lovers  - crossover with  CABB - "B1 - "All I wanted was for you to be happy."  – Bucky or Tony as the Ex?   SAUB S4 - Arranged Marriage  might be an additional crossover
* D1 - Multiple Submissives -  Stuckony crossover with  CABB - C3 - Bath/shower sex  and SAUB  Y1 - Pre-Serum Steve Rogers?
Build-A-Bucky Bingo [BaBB_R1]
Another fun year-long  event from the folks at  @buckybarnesevents!  Each month there’s a list of prompts and you choose (at least) one  each month for your card!
* November:  Crackfic  - see  BBB K4 - Accidental villany
* December – TBD  - probably try for a crossover with SVB.
Warm and Fluffy   Bingo  - [WFB]   (no end date)
Four  fills on my card, courtesy of   @warmandfluffybingocards  - need to try for another crossover or two!

On  other creative fronts:  I am working on a Billy Nye Stuffed With Character figure for a commission - I have three of the seven figures completed for my   Marvel Trumps Hate  auction winners.
If  you’re looking for one of a kind gifts for birthdays or other celebrations (besides this coming Christmas), check  out Stuffed With Character    over on Facebook for a full list of my designs (now over 150!).   These soft stuffed figures are  mostly Marvel and monsters, but I have some Star Wars, Star Trek, DC   and Disney figures as well. Plus I love to take custom design   requests  for any fandom!
