in honor of my second rewatch of the summer i turned pretty i will tell u why team conrad is obviously the better choice (jk u can be team jeremiah i dont really care)
conrad always cared for belly and saw her even before she turned pretty, when she had braces and glasses. HE SHOWED HER HOW TO DANCE, he was the one that insisted on letting her tag along when they boys went anywhere, remember that scene where he gave her her muffin back after steven stole it? well i do
he always wanted to be with her, but he thought she deserved better. he was clearly jealous of cam cameron but didnt say anything. the first time we saw him actually acting like old happy conrad was after they almost kissed on 4th of july, thats the effect belly has on him. he always smiles around her, even if its just small smiles he is trying to hide, he cant help it. the awkward waves pleaseee
the entire family knows about this. i just know that susannah wanted him to take her to the debutante ball cause she wanted to see them dancing in a suit and white dress since she couldnât see their wedding. she told belly she would marry one of her boys one day and i think they were both thinking the same boy. susannah loves conrad and jeremiah the same but she knew conrad was bellyâs love, not jere
and should i remind you what laurel said âfor belly conrad is the sun. and when the sun comes up the stars disappearâ. mother knows best
now im not saying jeremiah didnt love her but i think their love is just platonic. they are besties and i loved their friendship and tbh the first time i watched it i kinda hoped they wouldnât kiss and the old love triangle would stay out of the show cause they were amazing as friends. honestly i wanted him more with steven even they had more chemistry in the first episode
i just think that jeremiah only wanted belly as a gf after he saw that conrad wanted her. his entire life he knew how belly felt for conrad cause it was obvious and he didnt make any move, until he noticed conrad felt the same. he lit fireworks to stop the from kissing- i feel like for him it was a bit of a competition, trying to be first for once after being second to his brother his entire life.
they both loved her in their ways but we all know bellyâs first and true love is conrad. jeremiah is the safest option but she doesnt want safe, she wants the dangerous bumpy road full of fireworks and butterflies and the feeling of being so alive that it just feels right. thats how conrad makes her feel. with jeremiah she would only lie to herself and to him cause u cant fake that feeling. he deserves someone to love him right.
and since he is canonically bisexual in the show i think it would nice if they dropped the whole love triangle in the second season and just get him a boyfriend
#the summer i turned pretty#tsip#team conrad#conrad fisher#jeremiah fisher#belly conklin#susannah fisher#laurel conklin#steven conklin

I am obviously rewatching bridgerton s1 and I like those dump reactions posts so I am making one that I will keep updated w my every thoughts đ
First of all HE CALLED HIS SON AN IMBECILE omg the word imbecile is so funny to me, a French speaker
"I believe I should like to stay" "I believe you should like to leave" VIOLET IS THAT BITCH this is one of my favorite line
Lady Danbury is the perfect embodiment of the aries-libra axis my queen ugh
YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO BREATH THE SAME AIR AS HER was he already soooooo mad for her where are those mens today
Okay he was already down bad in episode 2 when he asked her to call him by his name OMG HE TOUCHED HER BACK I did not remember this small details I love that
THE LOOKS HE HAS FOR HER ON GOD HE STUTTERED WHILE TALKING ABOUT HER SOMEBODY SEDATE ME
Okay the dream, the tea afternoon.. they are all in love so fast my babies I will try to keep my mouth shut bc my reaction to the inn scene will probably be 5000 words long
"You must marry the man who feels like your dearest friend" I remember this line very well bc it simply left me FLABBERGASTED I was like YES love is actually that simple
Regarding violet now, she IS the virgo-pisces axis
THE HAND TOUCH I AM CRYING yes I am easily moved by romantic gestures and grand feelings
"You wish to follow your heart and I wish to nurture my mind" Eloise is an amazing character
Stop whispering "touch yourself" in a public park Simon wtf is wrong w you
"If you desire the sun and the moon, all you have to do is go out and shoot at the sky" + "[She] is a woman, therefore she has nothing. You are a man, therefore you have everything." Eloise god bless you pls write your own book your words are everything to me
HE LOOKED BACK BEFORE LIVING THE BALL my man had visions of murder watching daphne and the prince dancing
I feel she looked better w the prince like the energies were more similar but they had NO chemistry it was almost awkward so yeah long live Simon
Love conquers all
YALL I JUST UNDERSTOOD SOMETHING HABSJSKSLD when Simon was staying quiet while daphne was screaming about how she was gonna be a princess and marry the prince, when he did not answer it was bc he COULDNâT talk, he was petrified just like he was in front of his father bc these are the only two ppl that can reach him I AM SO DUMB HOW COME I NEVER NOTICED THAT
The "says the man who almost shoot at me ! YOU WALKED IN THE MIDDLE OF A DUEL" scene really made me understand why ppl say the bridgerton family share one single brain cell omg
I love violet so much she is the mother everyone deserve I love my little lady
THE SPEECH IN FRONT OF THE QUEEN IS TAKING AWAY MY SANITY HE SAYS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS when he says "w miss bridgerton conversation has always been easy" he REALLY means it bc we know of his struggle omg I love him so very much TO MEET A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IS ONE THING, BUT TO MEET YOUR BEST FRIEND IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OF WOMEN IS SOMETHING ENTIRELY APART i am deceased
OMG itâs happening ITS HAPPENING THE INN SCENE ITS HAPPENING I AM GOING CRAZY MAD IT IS TOO MUCH the speeches are the one thing keeping me alive the way they express their love I DO NOT WANT ANY DINNER i love their voices their accents their words
A separate post is needed for simons lines which are the closest things to heaven for me
SHE FEELS WONDERFUL YOU GUYS
Colin shutting down Anthony is highly appreciated this man needed to be humbled in s1
Jeffrey is a gem
Okay honestly not much happen after the sex scenes so Iâm gonna stop this post and just enjoy it, nonetheless if violet or eloise or daphne say something incredibly wise that brings tears of admiration to my eyes I will obviously share it tho
I donât have an opinion on that whole baby lies etc.. bc I understand both sides tbh. As he said heâd rather die than force daphne in an unhappy marriage but he still took advantage of her ignorance, while she took advantage of him like literally bsnskdld yet she didnât even know she was doing such a bad thing bc she actually didnât know ANYTHING bdndkdkd
And I love how they put some responsibility on violet for that whole mess bc yeah it is a motherâs job to teach such things to her children
I still donât know if daphne had a miscarriage or just her periods at the end of episode 7 but that scene breaks me every time I watch it, i feel her pain so profoundly It is unthinkable to loose a child and the futur you imagined for them. And the dukeâs eyes watering bc he deep inside wanted that childâŚ
"I miss dancing with your father. The very last time I danced was with him. I suppose I miss everything about him, really." It is remarkable the way I miss Edmund and feel so sad about him when we never really saw him, we know nothing about him, we just have violet and the way she shines so much love when she or her children talk of him

Malcolm and Marie live blog
I don't usually do liveblogs for movies but yea.
Spoilers ahead!!
I love that its modern timed but very 70s stylized.
A tune indeed.
When you are high and drunk on success and
How the white critic reacts is why I feel like gatekeeping my scripts. At the same time some things I do make are about race or involve.
Marie sitting on the patio smoking is a mood whenever men are talking.
So he's pretentious and unaware.
Whoever chose the music for this, I feel like we would be Spotify mutuals.
Can this nigga stop pacing.
Also can he stop talking;
Marie is so tired and unimpressed.
Also little booties matter and are to be bitten.
Oooo the tension and the jazz.
Title Card over mac and cheese.
Shitty boxes mac and cheese but still mac and cheese.
Tbh i always wonder if spouses/significant others get upset when their spouses don't acknowledge them during speeches.
John sounds so much like his dad but I really hope his acting style differs from his dad a lot.
Guilty confession?
He did not profit off of his partners backstory and then not even acknowledge her.....I.....
If that ever happened to me catch me cussing my partner out during the beginning credits, the end credits, in the car, and at home.
GASLIGHTER!
The way I'm excited for Zendaya to give me some, oooo can she work with Regina King. Please on my knees I pray.
Um no that's not your job to coddle your lead.
He's a dick and the type of dick who makes himself look like a good person around other people.
If Sam Levinson is trying to make his viewers more of misandrist, it's working.
I feel like Marie has her flaws probably a lot of them and we will surely see as this continues, but Malcolm needs to learn how to apologize sincerely.
70s vibes! 70s vibes!
Them kissing and talking about criticism and dreams makes me miss a partner. A partner that I've had and haven't had.
Women really are behind every great man.
Yea sir you fucked a happy moment.
Oh visual allegories for looking in from the outside and cat and mouse chasing and looking from the outside in.
She's saying she doesn't feel noticed by you.
Gas lighter :0 he called her an emotional support dog, bruh.
I would LOVE to co-write or take a writing class held by Sam Levinson. The fights i write are very much in this same realm of reflection and anger and monologue.
Sam.....sam.....are all the sides inside of you doing okay sir?
The ugly side of dating and being in a relationship with someone who struggles with their own demons.
Honestly I could close my eyes and listen to this script being read without seeing these characters visually. Just close my eyes and get a sense of these characters like it was a radio story.
Oh. Oh this is a new wheelhouse of Zendaya acting; a different voice is like breaking through here and her expressions aren't the same we are used to. You can literally hear another character in there....hmm.
Mans is outside really fighting with his invisible demons lmfao.
Selfish ass, how after everything she said you came out of it thinking about your own craft and self instead of how you hurt her.
So she's conditional.
Me: did sam (a white man) say nigga this many times in his script or are the actors adding their own inflections. Not just the lingo used but the topic of race and directing etc. being written by a white writer about black characters is always gonna be a critique when you're writer is a white person.
Alexa play Broken Girls by Saba
He is so hurtful.
A clown nigga a clown look in the fucking mirror you bozo head ass looking like you need some Mehron clown white and a size 16 in clown shoes.
John is doing a really swell performance and reading of these lines.
He is reading her for her insecurities by bringing up his experiences with other women and that.....is yikes.
Arguments can get messy like this in real life but it takes a lot of maturity and control to either not let it get to this point or have a healthy conversation afterwards.
This film is really shot on some very crisp lenses.
They sitting there like đŹđ§ââď¸đ§ââď¸.
Leftover Mac and Cheese and unfinished cigarettes.
The nyt etc. pay walls are so annoying, but there is a work around look at the articles on incognito or add a period at the end of the url.
He sounds like his daddy so much here, weird, this is the only part I'm eh on the dialogue it feels real but a bit out of pace in how they are bouncing off one another.
Nail scissors? So the end is not the only part he based off of Marie. đ
ITS A GOOD REVIEW YOU DINGUS but also its a full review they are going to critique things. She isn't wrong though he did profit off of a woman's story that was not his own to profit from.
Yes Malcolm because unfortunately all marginalized people look through a lens of life that is inherently political because of the world they live in.
He is so mad and upset and had a lot on his chest. But I think he Malcolm and Sam are talking about something thats an issue and a non issue. Being critiqued for you art is hard but also Malcolm is not super self aware. He's like a stand in figure of for example rich depop sellers who wanna be oppressed so badly they yell at others instead of examining their own personal behaviors and ethics.
Oh Marie, when you know the spark is gone and you pick fights because.
He ain't even ask her to read?
One critic I have for most of hollywood actors is they learn their cry and that is it. A change from this is Margot Robbie, I adore her fluctuations of crying being similar but the crying is carried differently for each character. If I had to say any actor that does a cry scene amazing its this woman right here (Amy Adams)
You stole her story from her and gave it away, she has a right to be upset and angry and a rubber band ball of emotions.
Citizen Kane, not the cinematography, but the story is it even that good? (Unpopular opinion but meh, maybe in my rewatch it will be better.)
But that is what people want authenticity and whatever authenticity means to them. What is real for one is false for another.
To be honest look at the criticism of Euphoria, well earned, but a lot of people were like this isn't real even though he literally wrote about his own life. People said it was inauthentic like....wtf.
Ahh the smoking is just a habit, he quit and she didn't.
CAST ZENDAYA IN A HORROR MOVIE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING. Get Lupita and Zendaya and some more black actors preferably less known ones in a horror movie. One with a interesting script and story, directed by Regina King. Please and thankyou.
I love Marie yep that was amazing.
Behind every great man is a greater woman, one that deserves her credit for how she has stood behind. I wonder the stories of those women, what they have sacrificed or not sacrificed. Their thoughts and feelings when the world is surrounding their partner and views them as a plus one. (I'd write a short script about this but I think do I have the time, can I, or am I equipped ?)
He is a shitty person for bringing up his exes, like she even said I don't wanna know any of that.
Imagine being on anti depressents and rarely having a sex drive and then when you do your partner starts talking about their exes and tearing you apart for all your faults.
I love when you see peaks of Zendaya's cadence in roles.
Tension, what if's and he didn't even bring her up in his speech.
Marie to herself and the audience:
He is not afraid that he will loose her but as my character says in my unreleased story, "i can't wait til you give me a fucking reason to leave your ass." Malcolm expects everything in order for not even doing the bare minimum and she is only asking him for something as simple as consideration. She just wants him to be considerate. He wants to get married and considers their relationship like rolling down a hill at full speed and he cannot apologize, he cannot be considerate, and he cannot admit his wrongs. He can only offer her I love yous that he probably does mean but he does not back up outside of what he's done for her in the past. The past which was more of her experience than his and he sees his part in it as a burden. He doesn't use his own vantage point of the past to further his career he uses her. He does all of these things without a real apology or thankyou because he is not afraid to loose her.
The restrictions of quarantine and the panorama have made Sam's writing very no frills. I wonder how other films from other directors and writers that are filmed in small contained crews like this will be structured. But this was a very good movie gonna add to my letter box 3.3-3.5
Oh shit this is my song,
Ratings/overall thoughts:
Script is like a C+, B- : I could go into my heavier big brain thoughts on the script but I don't feel like it. You catch hints of it above it centers conversation on race and privilege, mainly the writers and questions i have that won't be answered but Sam did make me grow disdain for Malcolm over a short time. Which is sometimes hard to do because im one sympathetic person but the sympathy i have for Malcolm is at 0. Maybe a 2 at some scenes but then it quickly goes back to 0. Some parts of the dialogue miss the mark or hit the are off balanced. While some of it like Malcolm's bathroom speech albeit mean is really strong or their conversation when he comes back from peeing really shines for me.
Performances: B+ to A- because they carried the script further than it could of gone with less talented actors. The monologues do well to showcase their current skill levels which are already high af and leave room for anticipation in where these actors go next.
Zendaya holding a knife: A+ with a gold star. That switch on and off and on is delectable.
John being a shitty boyfriend but following Marie like a lost puppy: B+ with a good job written at the bottom of the paper, Malcolm being nervous a frantic dialed up with more realistic nervousness would have sold me completely on Malcolm's anxious waiting.
Cinematography: A and a participation award.
The mac and cheese: A+ for the easy mac. Wish it was like Annie's or Velveeta.
Cigarettes: Participation award and their picture hung up for student of the month. Why the grill lighter? Everytime Malcolm opened up his mouth Marie was like sparks fly.
The music: A++ with a prize. Whoever picked the music probably makes good Spotify playlists.

beastars episode 24 thoughts!
this post got kinda long i have Many Thoughts on this one
Overall I had fun watching this ep but I could really tell it was rushed and there was so much that got cut, which makes me super sad. our fears about the finale having pacing issues due to all the added scenes & rearranging were confirmed & it rly sucks, but i'll elaborate more on that in a bit.
this week's ep covered the end of chapter 92, chapters 93-97, and included small bits of chapters 98 & 99.
so the ep starts with the ED and the latter part of the tunnel scene with ibuki and louis. i liked the visual effect they used to show that they were in the dark. louis' voice acting was also On Point. for the most part i think this scene was done pretty well but I can tell it's being rushed also. I really wish we got more buildup and narration instead of just jumping straight to ibuki telling louis to shoot him. the way it is in the anime feels less impactful imo.
also im sad we didnt get to see this in the anime
before i move on, i wanna talk a bit about louis and his relationship w/ the shishigumi and ibuki. i feel like in the anime quite a few of the lil moments that really endear you to the shishigumi and also ibuki were either cut or kinda glossed over, which is strange to me considering how much effort and care went into the ED. it's very emotional and good but i feel like maybe anime onlies are missing out only seeing the anime and the MV. but idk.
legosi and riz's fight was quite rushed as well. there's so much narration and dialogue missing from it and that really rubs me the wrong way. It wasn't all bad but compared to the manga I just don't think it's as good. I will say tho that I really liked the sequence w legosi and the moths. I thought it looked really nice and was pretty well done.
also i liked how the backgrounds had some anti-yahya graffiti, its a nice touch imo
it says "high quality horse meat"
I was happy to see legosi do the "tell me more" pose but I'm honestly disappointed that the anime took out the whole exposition about why legosi did it. like i feel like without that it's just legosi being weird when he has a reason for it!!! This is just one example of the anime taking out crucial narration during the fight.
I also think it's kinda weird how they changed how louis shows up at the fight. im not sure how i feel about riz just charging at him like that, but i liked how legosi kicked him before they ran lol.
i dont have much to say about pina's small scene but I did wanna say that during my first watch thru of the ep i was too distracted trying to read the graffiti behind him that i didn't notice him getting his phone out of the dumpster and calling the cops lmao
it says "devour yahya"
and now... here we are... the predation scene.
overall i thought it was pretty well done but, like the rest of the ep, i could tell it was also being kinda rushed. some important beats werent given enough time to really sink in, and there's a few bits of narration taken out of this part as well that i find disappointing :^(
tho i did like how the anime called back to this scene in s1 when legosi mentions utilizing his strength.
also this part where louis is remembering ibuki had me likeđ
I also really liked seeing louis cry. I was crying too sjdflskjdflsjkdf. i thought that scene was really good, its prolly my favorite part of the ep tbh. getting to hear the whole predation scene voiced made me kind of a mess lol. i really liked louis' expressions throughout this whole ep too. studio orange used their whole louis expression budget on these last 2 eps lmao.
seeing legosi instantly get all beefed up was great too. he looked a little ridiculous but i kinda loved it lol. he's so huge and poofy. i love him.
big pomeranian
anyway, im also sad they took out louis' line about being reduced to a flashback character lol. instead he tells legosi "be a hero" again which... im not sure about that change. i liked the part with riz thinking back about tem tho. tho imo the way riz realizes he's in the wrong feels pretty sudden. again adding to how rushed the whole ep feels.
before i move on again i just wanna say legosi looks so cute. even all puffed up and covered in blood. how does he do that
baby boy baby. i wanna ruffle his cheek floofs.
i think one of the things im most disappointed about from this whole ep was how the fight got wrapped up. i really like how the cops show up and totally shift the tone in the manga jslkdfjskljdf. im also really sad we didnt get this interaction
tthe anime really took out most of the sillier moments from the finale, which makes me pretty sad to think about. i know the anime and manga have different tones but pls let the boys be silly sometimes!!
the next part where legosi and louis finally establish their friendship was really cute tho â¤ď¸ even tho it was pretty different i enjoyed it a lot.
BABIESSSS đĽşđâ¤ď¸â¤ď¸
the wrap-up for this arc and this episode gave me whiplash sdjlfkjsdf. it literally speedruns thru legosi's predation conviction, being released, louis & haru's graduation, and legosi deciding he's going to drop out of school. that is SO MUCH AT ONCE. also i was holding out hope that legosi would have his new years call with haru after the fight instead but that didnt happen!! so it just got cut!!! kinda mad about that tbh. legosi and haru having a lil scene at the very end made up for it a lil bit but that's still one of haru's few moments in this arc that's just not included.
we didnt even get the part wher legosi learns he can't marry haru bc of his conviction.
ive been really hoping for a season 3 announcement once this season ended. with all the background allusions to yahya, the added plot point of someone stealing elephant tusks, and sebun and melon's lil cameos in this season, it seemed to me that studio orange was kinda teasing a 3rd season. but now, with the dismissive way the anime ended, and paru's note from earlier today, im less sure about the possibility of a 3rd season. i'd still like to see the rest of the series animated, but i guess we'll just have to wait and see if more anime is announced in the future.
if we do get another season in the future i just hope that we swing back around and actually address the things that got completely glossed over in the last couple minutes of this episode instead of charging forward w/o touching them again.
i really think the finale for this arc should've been two episodes at least. not including the tunnel scene. i think then things wouldn't have felt so rushed. people have been saying this season really would have benefitted from at least 1 extra episode and i cant help but agree. some have even suggested a whole 24 episodes just for this arc, but i think that this arc couldve been done properly with 12 or 13 episodes if there was some better prioritizing on what to include and what to cut.
like i dont mind not getting the parts about legosi's family if they can be addressed somehow in a future season (or if theres no more future anime seasons thats a plot thread that doesnt have to be worried about). i could have lived w/o seeing sheila & peach's chapter animated if it meant more time for the focus of this arc. and was the kangaroo red herring really necessary?
adaptation wise, i dont think this season was as good as the first. i still think it did fairly well, but i know that it could have been much better. ive been excited to watch this season with my friends once the dub releases, but now im wondering if i should just tell them to read the manga instead. sighs idk. perhaps it comes thru better as a bingewatch, or perhaps im being a bit too harsh. idk. at some point ill do a rewatch and see how i feel about the season as a whole, but that wont be for a while.
if you've read this far, thanks for reading my ramblings!! it's been fun to make these posts every week and im gonna miss getting new episodes every week.

What hasnât already been said: The Spanish Princess 2
Episode 3: GOOD Grief! (we finally have a good episode on our hands)
To all those of you keen enough to have come back for another segment of âwhat hasnât already been said: TSPâ, as opposed to have just been scrolling when you see this - welcome back! (Scrollers you too <3)
Drawing of Thomas Moreâs Son AKA who Margaret Pole at this point wants to be the step baby momma of ;).
To anyone whoâs seeing this for the first time: what this is a list of observations, jokes, reactions and criticism which occur to me upon a rewatch. I wait every week until Saturday to do this so that I have had my fill of scrolling through the tag and aggregating what has already been said. I tried doing a whole spoof (here where I gave up 10% in) but tbh a) I donât know the history well enough b) itâs more time consuming than I thought and c) this series is just not as funny or as crazy as TWQ, so itâs untenable. Having said that: This is not a hatepost. Iâm not hatewatching this series and nitpicking on purpose but expressing my honest views and trying to find the good in it as well as the bad.
Without further ado...
First Scenes:Â
LMAO the way Wolsey suggests they break their alliance with Spain is freaking hilarious because the actor delivers the lines as if he were a high school girl making a personal attack by suggesting the prom change its theme to 70s disco to the chagrin of the peppy up-and-coming rival.
Also @ Henry VIII looking like the peppy up-and-comerâs bff and shy stan with that pencil bite and small smirk when Catherine loses her cool against Wolsey.
Iâm sorry... who is Henry married to again?
Also what is Margaret Pole doing at the council meeting?? Iâm not saying I donât like it.
Margaret Pole warning against certain repetitive thinking creating madness :(((
Attempted Naked Twister:
Oh Catherine, what is with you and all the other STARZ protagonists and that weird politcky bedroom talk? Who actually finds this sexy?
âCatherine you are unnaturalâ ooof that line delivery was somehow haunting.
Was the whole âI canât be rushed you are off-putting with your overpoweringâ a callback to Arthur and Catherine? Apparently thereâs another writer for this episode so I wonât put all subtly past them.Â
Scotland:
âShitey menâ asdkjashd
Look Iâm tired of all this âmy children wonât be safeâ line getting repeated. Look mate, murder of royal infants and children was not exactly a common occurence, even in cases of deposition. The Princes in the Tower are an exception to this but a very infamous case for that reason. Child murder was extremely taboo. In situations like this with an infant kid, no one is going to bother murdering the babies and taking their thrones, the lords will just vie for power and make themselves de facto rulers and oust the queen. Itâs not a question of safety but a question of holding power. Stop giving all women characters perma mummy brains.
Maggie being all caring:
âBarnabyâ *scoffs*Â âSuch an English nameâ - OH MAN 0_0 is Catherine mocking them for trying to adapt ? Like I know itâs meant to show her envy for Lina, but itâs coming out all messed up.
Our girl Maggieâs smile screams Iâm beating your ass in chess.
Anyhow this is the least histrionic weâve seen Catherine so far.
Chaplain vs Catherine:
Iâm interested how Catherine will feel at Staffordâs execution given that I have noticed this show build up to a friendship between them.
Why is everyone laughing at the whole âwill you delight us with new schemesâ line was not that funny?
LMAO at Thomas Boleynâs attempted brown-nosing.Â
You know what? Ruairi is a decent actor. When he says âso you admit it? you lost the child because you tried to be a man?â the actor conveys Henryâs troubled mind, lowkey scare towards Catherine and bewilderment all in one. The way his eyes do not move but just widen emotionlessly also gives this sense that he is being manipulated (which I guess they are going for with Wolsey). Then the whole choir music in the background.. I donât know.. Iâm liking this, itâs creating a vibe of a king of haunted and increasingly paranoid Henry. Iâm sure they are going for that, so good.
Ursula Pole and Mama:
Maggie Pole say âriches donât keep you safeâ with tears in her eyes :â(. Please tell me how this is not her thinking on her parents and granddad Warwick and what befell them ;â(.
I find Ursula refreshing actually, donât get those types of heroines often. But they are making her similar to a gold-digger, an exhalted marriage was first and foremost considered a thing of honour. Noblepeople wouldnât speak in such mercenary terms regarding their marriages.Â
Post Mary Defiance:
I love the âhorseâ nickname from Brandon nâawwww
Also just realised what made TWQ so atmospheric - that wierd âooooâ sound effect in the background when a character was being paranoid or worrying. They are using it during Henryâs âHow is it that I have no sons?â and it is just... so effective.
Catherine calling them ordinary children... she just keeps striking me as more and more classist. Like ok, I know every royal was... but still, I thought she was meant to see Lina as a friend and equal despite her race and status. To add the race element, this kind of rubs me the wrong way.
Also it is so clear by the end when Catherine states how the king is upset with her, she expects Maggie to ask her about it.. but she doesnât lmao.
Back to Scotland until Sexy boy fencing:
I love me this soft boi. Angus <3 <3
I like how they address that some men donât really like killing and that violence isnât inherent in a manâs nature.
Oh man, are we supposed to look at Linaâs house and deplore the impoverished conditions? It would go for at least 3,000,000 pounds in todayâs property market?
Is Catherine being particularly classist again with âWhy u not becoming a butcher Wolsey, ey?â.Â
Though I will admit the âbut giving meat to the poor is also goodâ was one of her only smart comebacks.
Just realised, Catherineâs pink dress pretty as it is, looks straight out of the 1570s... why?
Montage and After:
You guys are right, there is this weird longing between Henry and Wolsey lmao. It is actually insane.
So basically Catherine is officially depressed
OOOFF we have Stafford as regent instead of Catherine. (edit: I suppose itâs cause they go to France which they didnât historically? Also if Stafford is at home then what is his son later doing in France, why would he be there without his father. This show didnât think this through)
Meg Singing:
An impassionate speech is not too anachronistic. But despite the title of this post (what hasnât been said) I will reiterate that 16th century and Medieval peopleâs problem wasnât that they were ashamed of their grief and didnât cry. In fact, crying was somewhat more socially acceptable then than it even is now! Even manly men like Arthur were written as crying in literature such as Maloryâs Morte dâArthur. Obviously you couldnât go overboard, but in truth crying was indeed often too performative rather than hidden too much behind doors.
Pole and More UWUWU in France and after:
I LIKE THIS INTELLECTUAL FLIRTING
Itâs nice to see a depiction of romantic feelings between mature and level-headed subjects.
God Mary Tudor is so beautiful in this scene jesus. and the music when she was being presented was also very beautiful.
Maggie Pole getting given âa modest incomeâ yeah... she was one of the wealthiest peers of her day.
Also Maggieâs lady cousin not lady aunt Frost!
âshaking of the sheetsâ lmaoooo
William Compton cracks the hell out of me. I love this guy. He is just so creepy and twisted yet super keen and friendly. ahaha He looks like a riot, I hope we see him more. lmao tiles.
Also this palace feels very anachronistic almost 18th century-ish.
I like the Louis and Mary sequence, itâs nice seeing him trying to make her feel less scared, but OMFG when he lay on that chair.. for one second I thought they were trying to kill him off already.
Scotland:Â âLove is an open doooooorrrrrâ + Last Scene:
I ship Meg and Douglas ahhhh this soft boi x strong woman match is everything Henry and Catherine could have been.
I wonder... why is Lina speaking in Spanish more than Catherine. hmmm Are they trying to foreshadow Linaâs eventual return home and how Catherine become a true englishwoman?
Conclusion:
7.5/10
I cannot in all fairness believe it. This was actually decent. Iâve given up on historical accuracy long ago so by this point Iâm focusing more on how it stands as as drama. I mean, TWQ was also a flop when it came to grasping the complex issues of that era but why do I feel compelled to rewatch it every year? Because it had atmosphere when it came to acting, music, certain aesthetics (though the costumes let me down often). It felt adequately gothic and dark, yet bright and jewel-lish when it had to be, sometimes both at the same time. Some one-liners were also memorable etc...
So far TSP 2 did not have any of this. Everything felt way too off and anachronistic. But not even consistently anachronistic. The music was also often very meh (though I just noted the absence of the spanish stringy theme that kept playing in season 1 - I guess I understand why), the dialogue very clichĂŠd (âalright lads letâs throw in the words: king, crown, power, fight, battle + other buzzwords and we have ourselves Shakespeareâ) and so on... but I saw a change in this episode and I couldnât initially point out what it was.
Upon rewatch, I identified some of the improvements (noted above) but above all: The producer was different! Boy does it show. Unfortunately, I think she is only for this one episode which really sucks. Come back! There is more chemistry between the couples, less predictable interactions, pervy Compton, cinnamonroll Douglas, better music, more scenic shots (e.g Douglas and Margaret in church) e.t.c. I hope it will match the rest of the STARZ productions in getting better towards the end.
Look itâs no masterpiece. But Iâll give credit where itâs due because at least this time it didnât leave me feeling wanting and unsatisfied (if that makes sense).

NCIS Season 14 Episode 10 rewatch (contains episode spoilers):
First thing I noticed (because I've seen this episode before and know how it ends) is in the footage that shows the rear car window, there is no dark colored car following them even from a far distance after the near miss at the intersection. Tisk tisk. (This is a very small thing, im just being nitpicky)
I forgot how much the intro fucking SLAPS
I adore ducky and his endless wisdom
"I wonder if I could fit that on a cookie" I have the utmost faith in you Abby
The bagpipe ring tone for Ducky is so on brand and I love it
Jimmy immediately seeing Ryan and fucking zooming to reach him
Okay, slight time imbalance, can be explained away for plot convenience, not a big problem
Gibbs is such a Dad, and I love when he acts as a dad towards his team. He acts like a dad to Jimmy the least, I feel, as their relationship tends to be Jimmy starting to go on a tangent or oversharing and Gibbs just staring at him until he stops. But the concerned dad look and the long look and nod to Jimmy that is both a "you've got this" and a "I'll get you out of this" is so great
The Jimmy Ducky friendship is such a great dynamic and its one I love to pieces. Like. Ducky was his bestman. And now I'm nostalgic for the two part season 9 finale, thats not ideal. It also makes me nostalgic for the episode where Jimmy and Ducky get kidnapped and are fucking badasses. That one may be next tbh
Lol. *calm and matter of fact* "Thats one of our team members up there and if he dies, you're gonna be dealing with the whole US Navy." *fire chief looks up, conciders, calls into his radio* "Engine 52 to all units. Stand down for now."
Brian Dietzen is such a talented actor
Omg the flashback to s1 Jimmy
"What is this, self help karaoke?" "Honestly, I got a million of these, I could do this all night long" I'm sure you could Jimmy, I'm sure you could
Lord, the "i don't have friends like that. I'm sorry" and then him hitting Jimmy so he can try to jump, and then Jimmy falling and dangling from the edge and Ryan pulling him up and Jimmy quickly grabbing hold of Ryan's belt again and triumphantly declaring "you don't want to die" and calling him on his faulty logic as evidence and then fucking Torres, who somehow noticed none of this, sticking his head out to announce food. What a fucking scene
McGee's confident and amused"Jimmy never litters" is so great and funny to me, because of course he doesn't, and it is the perfect solution to move along the plot
I honestly love this plot device in this instance, characters revealing things about other characters while being unaware those characters can hear them. Aka: i love Jimmy talking about Gibbs to Ryan. And McGee arriving back at headquarters and being hushed by Bishop because Jimmy is talking, and the solemn "oh" look that McGee gets as he realizes what Jimmy is talking about. And Bishop, watching Gibbs carefully to gage how he's faring listening to Jimmy talk about him
"He's not exactly a hugger, you know. *huffed laugh* at least he's never hugged me" (I love the moment that comes out of this)
I adore Jimmy, really. He's such a genuine and kind character, and he's a goofball, for sure, but he's also so wise and insightful, and this episode really showcases that
The flashback to Gibbs setting him straight about the dad stuff. Ugh. So fucking good
Gibbs loudly talking at his intercom for Palmer to ask Ryan which intersection, for Bishop to tell Gibbs its a one way speaker, only for Jimmy to ask Ryan which intersection the next instant and Gibbs looking up like "you were saying?" is so funny.
The baseball bat makes a reappearance!
"Nobody at work knows" they do now, Jimmy Boy, they do now.
"Nothing lasts forever. I have had so many friends come and go. And live and Die." Jimmy, stop breaking my heart, I dont want to think about the many casualties of NCIS right now. Lord, the way Abby's eyes widden, me too girl.
"First, I think you should put Jimmy in for a raise" "ill second that" "okay"
Oh, fuck this clip. This is mean. Its even meaner that I don't immediately know if its Franks or Ziva. It is Ziva, but the fact its not instantly apparent is a good indicator to the fucking body count this show has on characters
Jimmy slipping and Nick catching him is Good. Especially the little "you told me not to let him fall" he gives to Gibbs
"Where else would I be? I'm not gonna leave you out there alone... Doctor Palmer" and the smile slipping from Jimmy's face as he truly realizes that they heard everything, and then the smile instantly reappearing at his mentor calling him "Doctor"
Basement boat scene! THE HUG!!! I FORGOT HOW MUCH I LOVE AND MISSED THIS SHOW
Gosh! Gibbs doesn't say a word in the basement scene, and he doesn't have to because the hug says literally everything. One: that Gibbs heard what Jimmy said. Two: Gibbs forgives him and is not mad and him for bringing up his wife and daughter to Ryan. Three: it conveys how much Gibbs cares about Jimmy. Four: Its a comfort thing and a "you did good kid" thing
This is such a good episode. Honestly? 10/10.

iâm rewatching the return from the start, so here are some kind of nonsensical notes that nobody asked for on parts 1+2:
the rancho rosa logo for this ep is a kind of sepia? it took me way too long to notice it was changing from episode to episode, so iâm gonna keep an eye on it
the upholstery on coopâs chair in the black lodge is similar to the white lodge/1930s room furniture, unlike every other chair there
lauraâs portrait fades away to the sound of running water, replaced by shots of the river leading over the waterfall as if hovering above it. the waterfall morphs into fanning red curtains. wasnât there something in tshotp about the significance of the waterfall?Â
cooper doesnât have his fbi badge in the scene with the giant, but he is himself? where exactly does this scene fit in??
âtwo birds with one stone.â wasnât there also something in tshotp about a top secret government force who all had bird codenames? hmmm???
has anyone else ever seen that clip of a young russ tamblyn (aka dr jacoby) dancing with shovels? bc itâs pretty amazing
HERE COMES THAT BIG OLâ BOX
if youâre not watching this show with headphones/a decent sound system then youâre definitely missing out bc half the joy of this season has been in the sound design. SO GOOD.
âooh. now iâm so curious youâre driving me crazy.â
was the strange repetition of the insurance manâs âiâd like to see sheriff trumanâ our first indication this season of time acting skewy?
the music for doppelcoopâs introduction makes me actually jump out of my skin every time
âweeell, lookee hereâ is a very underrated line imo
pretty sure i can hear chickens in the background of this scene??
âitâs a world of truck driversâ feels very very different now that i have a) read lauraâs diary and b) seen part 14.
am i the only one who just assumed ray and darya were lodge spirits at first? no human being looks like that?
âmr. c, mr. câŚâ otis, you were a man of few words but i appreciated each and every one of them.
itâs subtle, but the music cue after traceyâs âheâs not here. no one is here.â is chilling and perfect. presumably coincides with coop appearing in the box.
seriously, holy shit, the sound design for this scene is so good. every line of dialogue has its own accompanying unsettling metallic whoosh. i am living.
other people have definitely pointed this out, but ruth davenportâs neighbour has a small mexican chihuahua
the two exasperated policemen trying to find a key for ruthâs apartment, with the names barney, chip, hank and harvey dropped all over the place despite having absolutely no bearing on anything because marjorie had it all along? feels meta.
ruth davenportâs decapitated head is played by mary stofle, who i assume is a relative of emily stofle aka david lynchâs wife
listen, iâve said it before and iâll say it again but i would live and die for constance talbot. i am in Love.
lucy, quietly: âokay, deputy chief hawk.â hawk: *tiny little fond nod* me:Â *sobbing alone in my bedroom*
i have never in my life seen anyone do this with their face before and iâm not sure if i ever want to again:
and i would really like matthew lillard to win some awards please
does anyone else refer to the diner guy from mulholland drive exclusively as âthe diner guy from mulholland driveâ or is that just me
proper old peaksy music vibes come back for the first time (aside from the opening credits) with hawk walking through the forest at night. fitting.
âis. it⌠FUUUUTURE⌠or is. it. past?â
al strobel <3
iâve never really talked about him here because no one ever really posts content for him, but al strobel as the one-armed man is far and away my favourite performance from the the original series
i feel like the curtains being sheer enough to see through compared to the heavy, velvety, theatrical style curtains of the old series probably says a lot about the current state of the divide between the lodge and ârealityâ
when laura takes her face off the line is smooth cut â when sarah does so in part 14 itâs torn and jagged.
it makes me so emotional to hear coop use his regular voice in these scenes, itâs ridiculous how much iâve missed him
sometimes it amazes me how gay i am for sheryl lee
there have been so many mysteries piled on top of mysteries this season that i had 100% forgotten that laura whispers something seemingly distressing in coopâs ear in this episode and that we still donât know what she said. does coop need to remember it to wake up?
speaking of mysteries, WHY DID LAURA GET DRAGGED FROM THE LODGE SCREAMING IS SHE OKAY AND WHEN WILL WE SEE HER AGAIN I NEED TO KNOW
iâm afraid iâm v much in the camp of âthe evolution of the arm looks and sounds genuinely awfulâ, but i can appreciate the massive Fuck You to michael j. anderson
âthe evoLOOOUUUution, of the AAAhhhhhrrmâ ily al strobel
it just reminds me of a piece of sentient chewing gum on a twig. iâm aware they didnât have unlimited funds, but the effects are just⌠Not Great.
that face squishing thing doppelcoop does to jack is exactly how i show my friends and family affection and iâm not sure what this says about me
if the evolution of the arm looks kinda bad, its doppelganger is on a whooole other level and tbh, that is not going to age well at all.
âyeah, itâs the dogâs bollocks in âereâ â literally no one speaks like that, david. nobody.
this roadhouse scene sets up the freddie and james, becky and steven, AND shelly and red plots all in the space of about sixty seconds
james marshall has (bless him) blossomed into a very subtle and effective actor over the years, and iâve genuinely enjoyed his performance this season

whats your view on animation? crunchyroll awards aside (bc it was a popular vote and yoi had a very viral fandom), i decided to rewatch the anime and after ep 5 and 6 today i felt like the skating sequences were really weak (my computer lagged so it didnt help with seeing many bad caps) and idk what to think. i get small budget, tight deadlines and difficulty in animating skating overall and i hope it does look better on dvd, but i cant help and think that skating scenes were underwhelming (1/2)
and it dissapointed me a bit because its a sports anime after all. Don't get me wrong, i still love the story and the characters, but i wonder how did we overlook the animation issues when it was airing, because now it is quite visible, even if im not an animation expert. i really hope the DVDs are decent and that its possible for season 2 to maintain a better animation (ok smetimes i cant help but think that animators were focused on everything but skating tbh) (2/2)
i get you!! i had to rewatch all of the skating scenes to analyze their programs and make gifs out of their jumps so i know exactly what youâre talking about fsdmljkflsd
it is bad. the only good skating scene that really comes to my mind is on episode one, with viktor skating. and thatâs it, i think? there are like some good scenes/close ups but 80% of the scenes are pretty bad lmaoÂ
but the thing is: they polished the skating animations A LOT on the dvd/br. iâve seen comparatives and itâs INSANE, not only their movements are much better but the perspective and also the sketersâ clothes and expressions look more polished.Â
pretty much the reason why weâre noticing how bad the animation is now is because the novelty is gone, we know how the story goes and we are paying more attention to detail. so yeah.
possibly on season 2 the airing wonât be of great quality too? the dvd/br is always going to have a much better quality, and iâm honestly fine with that? i have to admit i have a lot of fun with the wonky animation lmao

some thoughts about the goldfinch
the first trailer was what got me curious about it so i was planning to watch it before reading the book, but they ended up delaying the release in my country (and eventually cancelling it) bc it didnt do well in the states, so i read the book last week and watched the movie last night what i liked the most about the book: -read a post the other day about the importance of love being at the core of stories (not necessarily romantic love) and i agree, and obviously theoâs love for the people in his life is important in the book, but what i liked the most is his love for art. this book felt like a love letter to art, and it didnât feel too cheesy or pretentious, it just felt warm and homey. i really enjoyed the part when he spoke about antiques and furniture and restoring, which doesnât surprise me bc i love old things and iâm a very sentimental hoarder, so even though iâm not an expert on chairs and chests and stuff like that, i grew quite fond and curious of it same goes for paintings, i mean i did study some of that stuff but iâm no art expert, anyways i def got some paintings i latched on to in a weird and inexplicable way (ââif a painting really works down in your heart and changes the way you see, and think, and feel, you donât think, âoh, I love this picture because itâs universal.â âI love this painting because it speaks to all mankind.â Thatâs not the reason anyone loves a piece of art. Itâs a secret whisper from an alleyway. Psst, you. Hey kid. Yes you.â) music had a minor part compared to paintings and antiques, which makes sense considering it was more pippaâs thing (and part of what connected theo to her), but it was mentioned a bit with boris and his mom too and i liked that
-what theo says vs what he shows us i read some (book) reviews when i was still reading the book, and i dont get why people take everything he says as The Truth. Even if you donât assume heâs an unreliable narrator from the beginning, itâs obvious when youâre halfway through the book. What he says about drugs: heâs an addict but itâs different from other addicts, he could easily stop if he really wanted to, he has a whole plan on how to get through withdrawal and get clean, itâs under control What he shows us: he ODed, had a few close calls (which he underplays, but who knows?), when something goes wrong or when heâs bored and needs to get by he goes right back to it, he canât stay clean for long What he says about Pippa: theyâre perfect for each other, heâs the only one who really knows her and loves her for who she is What he shows us: most of what he knows of her he learned through Hobie, theyâre awkward around each other, he loves the idea he has of her etc So it baffles me reading reviews about Theo and Pippaâs relationship being the center of the story. Itâs important, but it doesnât outshine his relationship with Hobie, Boris, his mom, or the Barbours. If you really had to pick the core one obvious choice could be the painting. To me it feels more like a good balance between the painting on one side and the people in his life on the other. When it comes to the painting we see more of who he is (guilt, anger, depression, ...) When it comes to the people we see more of who he wants to be (part of the family with the Barbours, belonging and being family with Hobie (but also indispensable business partner, bc if he isnât that he feels like he doesnât deserve to stay with him), true love for Pippa) About Boris Iâm a bit torn: there are some moments (esp when heâs a kid) when I feel like he tries to be something with him too (cool friend, always down to try new drugs and drink). Other moments I think heâs himself with Boris. Like when Boris tells him later Theoâs a blackout drunk, and about all the crazy stuff he did like jumping from the roof or trying to set the house on fire. I wonder if Boris brings that out of him or if itâs just that he doesnât have to pretend when heâs with Boris. Iâm leaning more towards the latter, but itâs not just Boris. Itâs Boris and the drugs and drinking. You canât really separate it. We see adult Theo who gets drugs to get through social meetings and interactions and life in general. And then we see drugged Theo with Boris, which is different. And itâs hard to remember any scene where Theo is with Boris and is sober. So thereâs that. Even if you try to see the good parts of Theo and Borisâ relationship, there will always be drugs and alcohol and self destruction. What I didnât like about the movie:
I read some stuff about the director and his view on the story, I donât really agree with him about it but it doesnât matter because tbh thereâs a bit of a gap between what he wanted to convey and what I saw. IMO if you take every single scene separately thereâs nothing wrong with it, the cinematography is cool and the actors are ok. But the movie as a whole was patched, like they filmed every single scene from the book and then had to cut out stuff to make it 2 hours long, and tried to glue together what was left. The low ratings from critics didnât faze me, I know sometimes they praise and hail movies I hated, or criticize movies I liked. The difference between critics and audience scores + the really low score on rotten tomatoes (I mean...24%...lmao) made me suspicious, so I didnât let that influence me. But yeah I didnât like it that much. I donât expect movies to be carbon copies of the books, and I appreciated the attention in some details and small references to the book. I just felt like it skimmed in a very superficial way over the topics and relationships of the story. Especially the last 45/30 minutes, very crammed and quick. Itâs a lot of stuff for a 2 hour movie so Iâm not that surprised. Before watching the movie I read some comments from book fans that talked about how criticts didnât get it, and I thought they meant the usual âthey watched it, understood what happened, but didnât really get the message of the movieâ. After watching it I think the same but like...they really didnât understand it. Not in a philosophical way but literally. Iâm 100% if I hadnât read the book I wouldnât have understood it either. Even someone who is 100% focused and watches the movie two or three times wonât understand wtf is going on, unless they read the book or other peopleâs explanations.Â
When I watched The Arrival I was really confused but after a second and third rewatch I got it. Reading peopleâs theories and analysis made me notice some details and small stuff, but I got the gist of it from the movie. I donât think I wouldâve been able to do that with The Goldfinch without the book, and thatâs not okay. The book is a different medium and it allows you to get really into Theoâs perspective, unlike the movie but thatâs normal. But the movie doesnât stand on its own. And you canât expect every single person who watched the movie, to have read the book as well. It has to stand on its own. + I still stand by the fact that they tried to get the message through by quoting some parts of the book, but it fell flat. Very pretty and great to look from the outside, empty inside. Itâs a difficult book to adapt. On a less serious note: Boris teaching Theo how to swear in Russian and then Theo swearing like his life depends on it when Grisha asks him to...one of my fav scenes. I hoped they would include that, but itâs a minor scene not crucial for the story so Iâm not disappointed or surprised, just sad.Â
#this is like....the longest post ive ever written on here#ive promised myself to write more about my opinions and ideas but if i write in on a diary#it will be more disappointing when i eventually forget about it#if i write it on here i don't have pages to fill#i read books and watch movies and series#but 90% i dont really talk about them with anyone#i just reblog stuff#and then i go back to old stuff i reblogged and im like#right i watched that movie...i forgot about it#maybe if i actually talk/write about it i will remember more#its sad watching movies/reading books and then forget about them even if they had an impact on you#when it happens i feel like im consuming stuff and just throwing it away over and over again
