can i just say it felt so fucking GOOD to have good, well-executed, fast-paced (!!) lightsaber fight choreography. the fights were exciting! each character had their own distinct style that matched their abilities and size! they were fast!!!!!! hands down the best saber fights we’ve seen in live-action sw in a long time.

Ahsoka Ep 5

At first I had a hard time with this episode, I think cause I went into it after episode 4 like, oh that's Anakin's force ghost and they're gonna be able to talk it out finally-- and then they immediately fight, which sorta rubbed me the wrong way if this is Anakin's potentially singular moment to reach from beyond the veil and contact her finally!

But what I think went down is this is Ahsoka's dagobah cave moment, and the Anakin we saw is her manifestation of the conflicted feelings she has about him, which is why he flickers back and forth between forms. She still has unresolved feelings about what his tutelage makes her, in a sense. (And I think Baylon is a mind-reader/influencer that probes for people's innermost turmoil and exacerbates it, like we saw with Sabine) I really do see this being a turning point for her. She can finally begin to accept that holding herself back from teaching because of her fear that she or her student will become the next sith Lord. And I think her new commitment to life really shows in her rebels finale costume which feels so earned now!

I'm not sure reaching out and communing with the purgill is something the old Ahsoka would have done, and I'm excited to see where she ends up from here

Why does Barriss look so old here? Mirialans have a pretty long live span. Barriss is probably just around 50 and Lyn just looks the same as in ep4.

Could Vader be already dead at this point? Is the Fourth Sister the last remaining Inquisitor?

Did Barriss survive? force healing her own wound with the help of Lyn. Maybe Mirialans are just built different.

Lyn also seems to genuinely love Barriss. What is the story between them? They seem to have a really close bond?

One thing that I liked about the scene with Jacen and hera on the cliff was that the music was the most reminiscent of the original trilogy since... Well the original trilogy. Its weird because again its only a few moments long but I think those moments ( im gonna say wind instruments, but I'm not a classical musician) feel so much more magical and fantasy than what's been so far.

i can not give all my thoughts in tonight's episode so I'm just gonna list the subject down here and y'all can do the math. connect the dots and all that

AHSOKA EP5 SPOILERS!

1) the purgills. i love them

2) ANAKIN'S JEDI GENERAL OUTFIT. HIS SHORT WAVY HAIR.

3) Anakin's mannerisms were absolutely THE SAME AS TCW'S ANAKIN. It feels like a childhood dream come to life. I had to pause to breathe because i honest to God started bawling. he is my BOY.

4) CAPTAIN REX. MY BOY. MY BELOVED. MY DARLING MAN.

5) the shot when anakin goes off amidst the battle and changes into vader — then into anakin again?? amazing. i will shove filoni's hat up his ass to show him my gratitude for that shot. masterfully done. showstopper. brilliant. filoni is my new best friend (for now)

6) ANAKIN DUELLING AHSOKA. it was so... i have no word to describe it. awesome? and i mean it as in AWE-some. his technique was a split between vader and anakin's fighting style and it made me cum.

7) FALLEN ANAKIN'S YELLOW-RED BLOODSHOT EYES. amazing. goddamn. no words to describe that. my favorite detail.

8) ahsoka's eyes becoming yellow for a moment. she was really considering killing him.

YOU’RE SO RIGHT THO!!! THATS EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS IN AHSOKA EP5!!! BALANCED!!! Able to go back and forth between the good guy and the bad guy with ease! And the whole “everything I am you are too”, he’s trying to say she can easily reach that enlightened balance too! She might not be a Sith, but she fought two wars. And now she seeks the light and the peace more than ever!

I’m probably gonna have to write a fanfic about this because they’ll never say it. But since Star Wars VII-IX largely ignored Anakin’s character arc in favor of obsessing over Darth Vader, and Luke, Leia, and Ben/Kylo are all dead now… I hope somebody finally understands Anakin’s lesson: Why he was the balance, the one that eventually saved the day.

Anakin was the Jedi who loved.

Even at his darkest, as Vader, he was driven to violence because he loved too hard. During and before the Clone Wars, he was put into a dogmatic, oppressive, militaristic religious order that prized unhealthy emotional suppression and was forced to watch it hurt and drive away all of his loved ones—Shmi, Ahsoka, Padmé and their children; and to a certain extent, the clones he bonded with, Obi Wan (though Satine’s death), and countless others. He cared for them, it hurt him too much—and instead of receiving something like therapy to handle his insecure attachment trauma, he got a healthy helping of PTSD. But in the end, with Luke on the second Death Star, he saved the Galaxy because he loved his son and his daughter.

Nobody learned that lesson in the sequels—at least not from his story. (You can make arguments about Reylo completing that cycle a bit, but before we got that, the Palpatine mess meant they first took a giant shit on his storyline with Ben learning hatred instead of love from Vader’s memory.) So I would really, really love it if Ahsoka could be the one to learn. She was afraid to train Grogu because of this fallacy that Anakin’s attachments were the problem, not the Order itself—she and Luke both made him choose between Din Djarin and further training. But she could learn from both Kanan and Anakin if she wanted.

His lines about it in Attack of the Clones were cringe af attempts to hit on Padmé ofc, lmao. But Anakin was right even then: The Jedi should be all about love. And I would like to think him loving her—her learning that even after all the pain, her big brother had loved & believed in her, all these years he’s been gone/one with the Force—would help drive her back to courage.

okay, so this week's episode is the least fanservice-y so far (imo) so there's less to fangirl about BUT there's still a fair bit soo here goes..

first off: we have been majorly bamboozled. they legit made us all believe we were gonna get some flashbacks while Kenobi heals, huh? and then all we get is the parallel between him and Anakin in Bacta tanks, healing, and having visions..

i mean, i still appreciate the parallel, and to me it seemed like Anakin was feeling something too, that maybe he was struggling with his actions too, but like... i did kinda very much want those General Kenobi + General Skywalker flashbacks.. or maybe a Satine flashback.. or maybe Qui-Gon reaching out to Kenobi and helping him recover. or SOMETHING.. but we got some bacta parallels. so yay i guess xD (i sound more bitter than i actually am, i really thought the parallels were fkin cool)

Baby Leia is still a badass, and i feel like she might be unwittingly using the force to keep Reva out but idk. maybe she's just that strong.

also Reva is still a badass, but still annoying, but she IS supposed to be annoying so it's cool. Moses is doing an amazing at making me not like Reva as a person, but i still think she's pretty cool as a character overall..

also poor Lola.. she's gotta be destroyed now, isn't she? 💔

rip all the Jedi in the tomb.. i only recognized the old goat-like Jedi that helped Ahsoka that one time (if it's him.. it could also be just another one of his species, idk). i was scared Kenobi might see Quinlan or someone he loved dearly.. but daaamn seeing that youngling was a LOT. didn't think we'd see that..

also they diiidd namedrop Quizzy 💖 so he IS alive, they are NOT retconning, so yaaayy. cannot wait for his return (hopefully on ep5)

oh and the bit with Leia holding Kenobi's hand did make me tear up, thank you very much. 😅 such an adorable scene omg. they are so precious. 💖💖💖😭😭😭

all in all, pretty solid episode, LOVED seeing Fortress Inquisitorius. and learning more about what it actually is. and Kenobi getting back into the groove is just amazing.

can't wait for ep5 😍
