There are so many other instances of this character (Anna Sun) being autistic and this is one of the more subtle ones, but I like it a lot because I know the exact kind of bar lighting this is. It's low, soft, and pale electric yellow and it is very soothing.
The book is "The Heart Principle" by Helen Huang. She has two other romance novels that I would really recommend!

talent is held within the hands of one, but some might argue that it is the depths your mind is willing to take you. and some might say it’s the both that derive the talents of one.
VIOLINIST!CAITLYN knows what it means to be the best. she’s spent years proving herself, sharpening her skill until it is undeniable. every callus on her fingers, every aching wrist, every hour spent locked away in a practice room has been for this—the first chair, the title, the validation that she is superior. music is not just an art to her; it is discipline, control, perfection. and she has it all, neatly in her grasp.
until you.
you, who play like the music is a part of you, like it isn’t something to be mastered but something to be felt. you, with your maddening ease, your fingers moving across the strings like they were born to do nothing else. caitlyn tells herself it’s just another challenge, just another rival to outplay. but it isn’t. it’s worse. because when you play, people stop and listen. when you play, it makes her want to close her eyes and drown in it.
and when you take first chair from her, it makes her want to destroy you.
she should hate you. she tries to. she glares daggers into the back of your head during rehearsals, grips her bow so tightly her knuckles ache. but the problem is, she sees too much. she sees the slight tremble in your hands before a solo, the way your breath catches before each performance. she notices the curve of your lips when you lose yourself in a piece, the flicker of satisfaction in your eyes when you know you’ve played something beautifully. it makes her sick. it makes her restless. it makes her want to tear you apart just to see if she could put you back together again.
because if she cannot be better than you, then what is she? if she cannot take back what you stole, then who will she become? caitlyn has spent her whole life striving to be the best, but now, all she can think about is you—your hands, your music, your maddening, infuriating, intoxicating presence. she wants to win. she wants to take back what is hers. but more than that, she wants you to look at her the way you look at your violin.

Deeva Årud - Club Wear Voice Lines
When Summoned: Lights dimmed, tension building up… Are you ready to feel our rhythm? Summon Line: Playing music with friends is fun, I’m glad to be here even though I’m starting to feel a bit nervous.
Groooovy!!: We’d be delighted to see you at our next show. Spotting a familiar face among the crowd is always nice. Home: “Let’s rock and roll”, as some would say. Home Idle 1: I joined the Pop Music Club on my second year. Perhaps it’s quite a drastic change from my previous club but… it’d be a lie to say I’m not enjoying my time here. Home Idle 2: Most of the time I’m the one suggesting we should practice, but somehow Lilia, Cater and Kalim always distract me with all these unknown snacks and gadgets. Sometimes I have the feeling they do it on purpose… Home Idle 3: I need to warm my hands, it’s hard playing an instrument when they’re cold. Home Idle – Login: *humming Piece of My World* Ah- sorry, I didn’t see you there. Can I help you with something? Home Idle – Groovy: I’ve been playing violin and other instruments since I was a kid. My family has always had a connection with music and I’ll gladly continue this legacy. Conveying your thoughts and feelings through sounds is quite satisfactory. Home Tap 1: My first concert with them? Since it was the first time I’d be playing in front of many people, I knew I’d have a hard time trying to look at the audience. Cater noticed and told me to look at him so I could feel less overwhelmed… Let’s say I didn’t expect him to be so literal. His clones substituted the audience because no one came to see us. Home Tap 2: Hm, my violin? Indeed, it’s not the same one I use at Mostro Lounge. An electric violin is more suitable for the club’s activities. I’m surprised you noticed it. That means someone’s been paying too much attention to the musician playing ambience music… That was a joke. Home Tap 3: Kalim and I joined the club in the same year so I got to see how much he’s improved his drumming technique. It’s impressive. Certainly, Lilia’s been an excellent teacher to him. Home Tap 4: I like the idea of having customized masks for our performances. Maybe I should mention it once we have enough funds. Home Tap 5: I recently accepted to do some vocals just for our club sessions. You can come see us, but please refrain from telling everyone else. At the moment, I only feel comfortable singing for a few people. Home Tap – Groovy: When it comes to a band like this many wouldn’t think of a violinist, but that actually gives songs an interesting feeling, don’t you think? Duo: [DEEVA]: Ready for a shocking performance, Cater? [CATER]: Ready as ever, Dee-chan!
#To any violinist in the room: I tried :']#I can probably get away with some details since she's not actually playing here#more like positioning her violin/posing#but yeah. An attempt was made#I actually had to redo the whole card because I didn't like how the old one looked#and if it reminds you of something it's probably because I kind of borrowed Lilia's face shape#it was my last resort after drawing 20 heads and not being fully convinced by any of them HDSGSH#the rest is obviously brought to you by my own suffering#Oh and some extra info about Home Tap 1:#Deeva actually kept looking at Cater on stage out of habit even after they gained some listeners#sometimes the poor guy thinks she's glancing at him because he made a mistake or something lmao#Talking about Cater. One of the reason she joined this club was because she promised it to him#when they were first years she didn't know there was a music club like that#and Mr CayCay here informed her a little bit too late of the existence of the PMC#Also unrelated to what I was saying#but please imagine she says “let's rock and roll” with the most monotonous voice ever#zero spirit in those words#until she picks up her violin and the rock and roll starts rock-and-rolling#it's funnier that way#The need I feel to talk a lot under my art posts needs to be studied#twisted wonderland#twst#twisted wonderland oc#twst oc#deeva twst#my art

am i the only one that thinks francesca bridgerton is giving high mask "u cant have autism ure so sexy aha"
like people clearly think she's kinda odd but she's pretty so they brush it off. she only participates in the season because she's expected to not because she's necessarily nerve-wracked or offended by it, gets really excited when someone lets her talk about her interests and enjoys most the company of the one person that will deliberately sit there and not talk to her
#also likeeeee idkkkk when she was just standing in the street she clearly heard the violinist but showed no emotion until kilmartin#commented on it and only then showed how much it bothered her the entire time#repressed sensory overload ??? 👀#if im way off base pls tell me#but that's really what im getting from her storyline so far#like it seems deliberate?? but maybe im projecting??#bridgerton s3 spoilers#bridgerton s3#bridgerton#francesca bridgerton

Facts about my MC: Esmeralda Greene (musical edition) 🎻🪽✨
Don’t let Esmeralda’s questionable technique fool you, she is very proficient at the violin!
Esme began learning how to play at a very young age, alongside her childhood friend Anne Sallow, who played its sister instrument, the cello. Some days they would spends hours and hours practicing together.
Esme’s strict mother believed that playing a musical instrument is a fundamental practice to being a woman.
Although she initially learned how to play the violin out of duty to her mother, it became a source of comfort and a coping mechanism for when she was feeling stressed or anxious.
When they were younger, Esme and Anne would often practice their musical instruments together, and Sebastian would constantly seek out ways to annoy them, because he was bored and lonely.
Despite initially showing no interest in his friend’s musical abilities, fifth year Sebastian has become quite fond of the violin and often encourages Esme to play for him.
This became a weekly ritual when Solomon forbade Sebastian from visiting Anne. Esme and Sebastian would retreat to the Undercroft, where she would play for him, offering him a sense of nostalgia and comfort.
#if you’re a violinist look away#I know this isn’t the proper way to hold a violin but this is the best I could do with the pose editor okay#also just pretend she’s holding a bow hehe#I played violin for a couple years in high school but then I stopped and now I regret it#so I think it’s only fitting that I force my brain child to live out my unfulfilled dreams lol#esmeralda greene#esme greene#sebastian sallow#anne sallow#hogwarts legacy#hogwarts legacy screenshots#hogwarts legacy fandom#hogwarts legacy oc#hogwarts legacy mc

I haven’t had a chance to write anything for the 11th anniversary of Rhythm Thief and the Paris Caper English release, but I just wanted to share a headcanon… regarding Marie’s birth father.
I’m not suggesting the game could have been improved by his inclusion (Maybe he could’ve been mentioned in a potential sequel…), but I like to theorise so here we go.
In the game, Marie is said to be the ‘last blood descendant of the Babylonian royal house’. As Elisabeth is a duchess— a member of French royalty— I’m going to assume Marie’s father was previously the last blood descendant on Babylonian royal house. Emphasis on last and previously…
In her diary, Elisabeth makes no mention of Marie’s father (as far as Raphael reads, anyway) when she discusses the day Marie was born. This leads me to believe Marie’s father wasn’t in the picture when Marie was born… but still, Elisabeth describes this as the happiest day of her life.
I think Elizabeth was happy with Marie’s father (even if they were in a royal arranged marriage situation) and she knew he was the heir to Babylonian royal house, but this was kept under wraps, even from members of Elisabeth’s family—
Such as Jean-François. Oh, Jean-François… Surely didn’t set out with the intention of ruining his cousin’s happiness, but maybe he wanted to knock her down a peg?
Elisabeth appeared to be this ice-cold perfect DUCHESS… while Jean-François was a mere history pupil at the Sorbonne. A pupil with great promise (according to JF’s former teacher, Alàn) but that’s nothing compared to the DUCHESS. Jean-François has money— enough to donate to convents— but not DUCHESS levels of money. He can arrange to give this random convent girl violin lessons, but Elisabeth has power over politicians and influence over Paris' high society. Jean-François craves this level of wealth and power, enough to make France reign supreme.
JF just needed to find a chink in Elisabeth’s armour… and maybe he got that chance when Elizabeth fell in love. As far as JF could tell, the man she fell for was a complete a nobody. A worthless, poor musician with an old violin. What exactly did Elisabeth see in him? Did she really want to produce an heir with this man…?
JF starts digging, until he discovers the truth. He confronts Marie’s father with the help of some chevaliers… and this leads to Marie’s father’s untimely disappearance.
His disappearance— labelled ‘Mystère Incident’— panics Elisabeth and her family at first, but the family relax when they find out Elisabeth is pregnant. She’s going to have an heir… and that’s all that matters, right? Who cares if the father left?
Elizabeth cares. She cares a lot… and she has her suspicions about Jean-François. She suspects JF knows her baby is the last blood descendant of the Babylonian royal house.
Fearing Marie will suffer the same fate as her father, Elisabeth gives Marie away to the convent… where Marie falls right into Jean-François’s waiting hands.
#rhythm thief#marie rhythm thief#long post#Duchess Elisabeth#Jean-François rhythm thief#Gosh I love their screwed up family#It’s a miracle Marie came out as sensible and as kind as she did#I think Marie’s father was mellow and patient like her but others saw him as lazy and unaccomplished#The man just wanted to play his violin and write songs about his beautiful powerful duchess wife but then JF came along#JF did NOT like him. At all. He hated that handsome layabout violinist

Kafka crossed my thoughts tonight at random, and so I wanted to re-post a little something here, with some minor edits thrown in. I just think it's often overlooked how... many human elements they've tied into her. A hungering sense of curiosity, the inherent sense of longing that clings to her being like a fever, and how she's caught (very humanly so) between the belief of we are tied to fate and thus it shall be, and the insistence on choice and how the Trailblazer seems to be inherently representative of its existence. And then I think of what being 'human' entails, and one could argue that it represents the experience of life, before one's end by the hand of destiny/fate. Is that... why she's so enthralled by all these human concepts? Because she's so firmly tied to fate? Yes, I still linger in the thought that she bears strong connections to fate, there are too many hints at the Moirai to me to ignore. But it's not even that, it's her Spirit Whisper, it's that her wanted poster made by the Devils that she used to hunt on her home of Pteruges-V, had to describe the ability and what it does— which tells ms that it's not native to there. But— I'm getting sidetracked, this isn't about any kind of potential nature that is far from humanity, it's about the evidence, even if she may turn out not to be inherently human at some point in the future of HSR, that she is drawn to, portrays and in some form, lives, very human concepts. And one of the ways I tried to make that clear before, was by talking about her in relation to her violin— or more specifically: the presence of its absence, the latter being which I will always firmly believe to be the eternal overarching narrative of Kafka's character. Any way, onto the babble:
I'll forever remember looking into the notes of someone's playthrough of HSR's first scenes, which is just something I like to do because you never know what kind of little treasures you might find. And there was a violinist tucked away in there, who I'd also seen in the notes of her main trailer, commenting on the intense accuracy of the movement of her fingers. And then on top of that, how they've usually been let down by the details when other games have tried to simulate it as well, but it was more so done to iterate how intentional this must've been for Hoyo to have focused on its accuracy so much.
So in that sense, I think it's close to a given that she knows how to play it, similarly to how I believe that she is someone who also plays or has played the piano. Where I differ however, is that I don't believe that she actually owns a violin at present, nor is she seeking to obtain one by her own means. Moreover, what and where I think the 'mimicking' comes from, actually, is from her memories and the emotional attachment that she once held for these instruments in them. Kafka's character, to me, revolves around and thrives within two concepts, that of intimate longing and that of loss (the pearl earring, the broken winged butterfly pin, and Blade's character story to name some) which plays intricately into the former. Now for me, her connection to the violin and the piano (primarily the former) play wonderfully into representing both of these, and thus can be drawn into these prevalent topics across the board for her incredibly easily. In simple terms, I think that there is a sense of longing to play them. Now, I feel confident in noting that Kafka does not come across as one who, if she had access to (in this case) a violin of her own, that she would crave to play it so intensely all the time, that when drawn from it for even the briefest of time, that she would enact the part of playing one during her separation from it. No, I think she's actively choosing not to obtain one, for one reason or another. Perhaps it's a memory that plays into the loss that her character seems to stray towards, or perhaps it's a lack of something else; I don't quite yet dare say. But there's something oddly wistful about it, if you look past the surface. All in all, I think her little moments of mimicking and humming, makes for an incredibly interesting "little" tidbit to me. It reminds me of something I wrote in an older post last year:
(...) And yet, and yet, I actively think if she were to find herself in a hotel room, even on her own, and there would be a piano right there— I can see her fingers tracing over the keys so very clearly, even as if she were touching the keys to play and yet she would never press down.
I still stand by this to this day. It's the ache to do something again, and yet for one reason or another, you can't bring yourself to do it. Whether it feels wrong, or there's something missing, something or someone; it doesn't matter, it's a longing of some kind. It really is the overarching topic and/or concept that I see in her character, and the fact that she's tied to such an inherently fragile instrument, only further solidifies it in my brain. But in that, I also feel a deep sense of melancholy when I think of her and that violin. And it plays into all of this, of course, but also the fact that I genuinely see no evidence in canon at present that tells me that she has one, and we know she could obtain one if she so wanted to,but she doesn't. Which tells me, on some level, that she doesn't want one. Which then has me entertain the concept of... if one were gifted to her, would that be different? Would that offer the person who gifted it to her a glimpse that no one else could ever get? The answer is a very likely yes, but I can't see it being gifted by most by any means; it'd need to be by someone who could come to grasp the significance of one, put in the appropriate research, who would know where to go, who to speak to, where to find the significance. And that, isn't most people.
#[ me here incredibly loudly: kafka knows such deep longing. which isn't even a fabrication of my mind because-- ]#[ it's literally what sits behind her objective within the stellaron hunters. she /craves/ for what she does not feel. ]#[ not simply out of curiosity; but because lacking fear means that there is inherently a disconnect when she experiences life. ]#[ it's an additional weight that dictates and ties /weight/ to what is done and seen in life. what is /lived/. ]#[ she longs for that. it's an emptiness she describes having-- and wants to know what it's like to feel it. and how it impacts. ]#[ but she actively seeks it. /presence in absence/; see? ]#[ same thing with the violin. it would be so different if she actually HAD one and we saw her play it. ]#[ but the significance lies in the fact that she /doesn't/ have it. and she COULD have one. she could obtain one easily. ]#[ but we don't see it. there's no indication of it. and a violinist that can play her instrument wouldn't long to play it like this-- ]#[ when separated with it. because then the separation doesn't mean as much if it's just very fleeting and temporary. ]#[ no. it's presence in absence. the importance lays in the fact that it isn't there. that she doesn't have it. ]#[ /bites both fists. ]#[ kafka-- you are such an intimate creature. i absolutely loathe life. ]#[ literally. intimate. just... /intimate/. ]#[ kafka. ] questions and answers are constrained by previous choices. the future is a labyrinth: every divergence is merely an inducement.#[ kafka: meta. ] i see the look on your face. don’t bother asking: i can’t tell you if an answer is true or not. make your best guess.
