just to emphasise how few characters carry on has, here is how i would list the characters in order of importance/development:
1. simon (protagonist)
2. baz (deuteragonist)
3. penny, agatha, lucy, the mage (supporting/antagonist)
4. natasha, fiona, malcolm, ebb, nicodemus (minor with key plot roles)
5. mitali, martin, miss possibelf, maybe dr wellbelove (very minor but with a character concept)
6. every other random name mentioned in passing
#this feels a little harsh but rlly...#like i considered trixie but i feel like she's more setting the scene than A Character#and premal is more something that happens than A Character#we don't know what either of these ppl are actually like#anyway. this is not an ensemble cast. stop pretending it is one#you can write what you like but if you make changes acknowledge that they are changes#'i just thought it was rlly unfair that x didn't get more attention-' sometimes stories work that way#if anything it is this book's greatest strength that it's so focused on the central characters#that's why simon and baz are so well developed. because the story is about them. not ebb and fiona's schooldays or niall folding his socks
