Ch 44: Full Circle
Tumblr media
Master List ~~ Previous Chapter ~~ WC: 2.5k
Last chapter, friends. 🥹💕
This is a song that my husband and I love, and it’s so pretty, but the lyrics aren’t quite what I was going for this chapter, just the longevity of love. 😊 Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark +Lyrics (youtube.com)
A number of months later…
"The balmy sea breeze ruffled the tablecloth and made the string lights dance merrily above the jovial scene below as the clinking of silverware on plates punctuated the steady hubbub of conversation that rose and fell with the emotion of what was being shared. Some overly-optimistic sea birds hovered above on a swell, fastidiously watching for any dropped crumbs before swooping gracefully into another updraft. The setting was the same, the voices and faces different, but a shared sense of gratitude and contentment prevailed over all."
“I know,” Wrecker said dramatically, gesturing broadly with the drumstick of meat he was holding. “Right after I finish my porch, he comes up with this.”
“You cannot assume that his timing was intentional–” Tech protested fruitlessly.
“I’ll sit on your porch for you so someone can enjoy it while you're out working,” Echo interrupted, flashing a grin at Tech to release him from the increasing indignation Wrecker was goading out of him. “It’ll be great. I’ll put one of Hunter’s dusty old quilts over these creaky old legs and just watch the birds fly from tree to tree.”
“Your prosthetics are hardly creaky–” Tech returned, having gotten no more than two words out in a side conversation with Phee before being lured back in by his brothers. “Nevermind,” he said, more slowly now. “I see the caricature you are attempting to paint.”
“Paint? Oh, that sounds good. I’ll paint on the porch too,” Echo continued, undaunted. The Zygerrian beside Crosshair was smiling broadly at the interchange, his distinctive leonine face relaxed into inquisitive openness. Finally, he spoke up.
“You can paint?” His sibilant tone caught Echo’s attention, and he pointed an unthreatening scomp in his direction.
“Anyone can paint, Ky’tal. Might look like kark, but–”
“Language, Echo!” Omega teased, giggling from her seat beside Breslin. His eyes sparkled with unspeakable depths of affection as he met her playful gaze for a moment before flashing a rude hand signal in her direction, much to her delight. Echo looked at Hunter, who was staring at him with an entirely flat affect, and opted to return to the main conversation.
“Anyway,” he said, taking a leisurely sip from his wooden cup. “If you and Crosshair want to come paint on my porch, you’re welcome anytime.”
“It’s not your porch!!” Wrecker laughed, smacking the table with a bit too much gusto and causing a few utensils to clatter off their plates. Lyra jumped, her hand quickly covering her mouth in embarrassment – she still wasn’t unfazed by Wrecker’s jubilant outbursts. Hunter’s hand found her leg, giving her knee a soft squeeze, and she covered his fingers with her own, casting him a grateful smile.
“Well it sounds like it’s my porch now…” Echo was relentless, and as the two of them dissolved into pointless arguing, Ky’tal shifted his gaze back to Crosshair.
“What do you think? Want to paint the sunset?” He chuckled at the faintest of blushes that tinted Crosshair’s cheeks, then quickly rearranged his features into seriousness as the sniper fixed him with an entirely harmless glare. “Or perhaps we should paint guns instead…”
“Now wouldn’t that be just precious…” Phee interjected as Crosshair snorted, relaxing into his mirth and allowing the warmth in his eyes to show. “We can hang them all over our walls. Right, Brown Eyes?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Hmm. Well, I tried,” she sighed, shrugging and offering a belabored sigh of solidarity. Ky’tal laughed, a rich, deep sound, and draped his arm across the back of Crosshair’s chair. Hunter kept his mouth in a straight line to restrain his smile as he watched his brother’s shoulders relax a few inches.
“...a good find in a relatively abandoned sector,” Phee was saying, continuing her conversation with Tech.
“Allow me to gather some supplemental information and we can leave in two days, if that is acceptable?” he offered, trying and failing to hide the spark in his eye that always appeared at the opportunity for exploration and discovery.
“Sounds good. I’ll prep the ship and update MEL’s interface,” she nodded, patting the back of his hand.
“More pirate adventures?” Hunter asked, watching Tech’s eyebrows lower a bit as he regarded him from behind his spectacles.
“It is not piracy,” he objected. “It is–”
“Liberation of ancient wonders,” chorused half the table.
“We know,” Omega added with a grin.
“If you’re looking for some more ‘respectable’ work, you can expand your module for the Defense Training Academy,” Echo interjected. “There are a handful that seem to be particularly interested in that field, and the more well-rounded they all are, the better.”
“That would be enjoyable,” Tech answered, perking up again quickly.
“Yeah. It’s been great getting more of our brothers here, where they can live their own lives and pursue what they want instead of being puppets,” Echo said.
“They do seem to thrive in their autonomy," Tech agreed. " "You’ve created an excellent opportunity for them to continue in their desired purposes while also allowing ample rest and rejuvenation.”
“Well thanks,” Echo said, a touch of surprise in his voice at the rather effusive praise.
“Have you showed them the new armory yet?” Lyra ventured. Hunter chuckled, giving her a wink before turning to Echo for his response.
“Armory??” Wrecker interrupted. “Where?”
“Oh, didn’t I tell you?” Echo feigned innocence. “Well… Lyra had an entire room of long-range communication equipment as well as a ridiculous amount of weaponry, remember? Apparently she’s not going to need it for her gardening and baking or whatever she does… So she passed it on to me for the DTA.”
“What! I’ve gotta see this…” Wrecker’s face was alight with glee, and he rubbed his hands together as though he couldn’t wait to get them on the goods.
“You can look, but no touching,” Echo teased.
“I would also like to inspect the communicators,” Tech added, index finger in the air.
"Sounds like getting conned by a pirate worked out in the end..." Crosshair's comment slithered across the table, and Lyra laughed, meeting his gaze with the tiniest flash of a smirk.
"Listen... He was very persuasive..." she began, but gave up quickly at the chortles that broke out. "Alright, I know... Silly mistake. But hey -- if you all think it's so funny, I can take back my arsenal."
Wrecker gasped loudly, and whether it was feigned or genuine, it was difficult to tell. Hunter laughed, resting his arm across the back of Lyra's chair and giving her opposite shoulder a little squeeze.
"Okay, Wreck. You can keep the goods," Hunter grinned.
"Oh, now they're yours to give?" Lyra teased, beaming as Hunter's eyebrows climbed up his forehead in surprise and admiration, and he lifted both hands in temporary surrender.
"Alright, alright... I guess I'm just--"
"The snack. The eye candy. The trophy..." Lyra interrupted, trailing off at the end as she wasn't sure what word to use there.
"Hunter is the trophy?" Crosshair mused, peering across Ky'tal's broad chest to peer at her again.
"Hey. Eat your peas," Lyra returned, earning a guffaw of delight from a few of the group. Hunter shook his head, eyes on the plate before him but mind far away as he marveled at the depth of her personality that had been gradually unfolding in the safe, steady comfort they continued to build.
"Yeah, Crosshair," Omega joined in. "Got to get your vitamins!"
"It's true," Tech interjected, a touch of mirth on his solemn face. "Peas are a fantastic legume made up of complex carbohydrates and quite a variety of vitamins and minerals. They also offer a significant amount of fiber, which can be helpful with digestive issues--"
"Ohhhh, so that's what's up his--"
"I wasn't finished!" Tech was unstoppable, brimming with the incredible nutritional breakdown that he was far too eager to share. "While often considered vegetables, they are obviously not, as I previously identified them as legumes. But they do stand out from vegetables with their high protein content--"
"You've got to be kidding me," Crosshair muttered.
"Furthermore," Tech continued, "They are rich in polyphenol antioxidants, which--"
"Okay, Tech," Hunter stepped in. "Why don't you save that kind of talk for the bedroom?"
"Peas and polyphenols?" Phee said, waggling her eyebrows suggestively. "We might need to leave right now..."
"I'm losing my appetite," Echo muttered.
"Alright, alright," Phee grinned. "You give us something better to talk about, then." And off they went.
“Hey, thanks again for all your help at the cottage.” Lyra turned to Wrecker, offering a warm smile as the group's conversation continued without them. “I can’t believe how easy that seemed for you. You’re incredibly strong!” Wrecker blushed and grinned bashfully, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Aw, it was nothin…”
“Are you kidding?” Lyra continued. “To combine two rooms, maintain the structural integrity, AND make it look even better than before? It’s a huge gift. Really. Thank you.” Her face was earnest, voice sincere, and she rested a hand on his shoulder for a moment to convey the depth of her appreciation.
“I’m strong too…” Hunter muttered, shooting her a roguish grin behind lowered brows. She laughed, leaning toward him instead and resting her head on his shoulder before looking up at him with unabashed admiration.
“So strong,” she purred, only partially teasing.
“Ha! I could throw you from the docks to the Archium!” Wrecker snorted.
“That is a physical impossibility, Wrecker,” came Tech’s taunt from the other end of the table, but Wrecker ignored him.
“Besides… How are those office ladies doin?” Wrecker asked, waggling his eyebrows at Lyra as Hunter rolled his eyes with a groan.
“Oh, you left quite an impression,” she smirked. Hunter had brought a large crate of steaks, sausages, and roasts to the school for the end-of-term staff party with Lyra proudly on his arm. He’d given them one last opportunity to get all of their innuendos and flirtation out of their system.
A few of them had taken him up on it, but when they’d laid eyes on Wrecker carrying the huge crate on one shoulder with a single arm around it, Hunter had been instantly forgotten. They’d mobbed the large clone like gaja birds on a pile of mantell mix, squawking and fawning over how massive his muscles were and how wonderful his charitable generosity was, and Hunter’s allure seemed to vanish as quickly as the selection of meat.
His undecipherable mutter about their fickleness had been quickly quelled by the shock of Lyra grabbing both his arms and kissing him firmly, and when she’d released him, she hadn’t been able to stifle her giggle at the dumbfounded expression on his face.
“Guess I’ll have to make deliveries more often then, eh?” Wrecker grinned.
“Well you can find your own stuff to deliver now,” Hunter muttered with a harmless scowl.
“I’m sure they’ll find plenty of ways I could help out,” came Wrecker’s playful jab, resulting in a sigh from his brother.
“Do you want their attention?” Lyra said, poking Hunter in the side so unexpectedly that he jerked in his chair and turned his joke of a scowl onto her.
“No…” he said, softening as she reached up to stroke the backs of her fingers along his cheek.
“Maybe I’ll just have to keep finding ways to show you…” she drifted off, casting a surreptitious glance around the table, too embarrassed to finish her sentence. He leaned in, nudging her cheek with his nose.
“Hmm? Go on… You were saying?”
She turned to nestle her face against his, whispering something in his ear that made him press his lips together tightly in a barely-restrained smile, but he couldn’t hide the faint redness that colored his cheeks. He pulled back to look at her, equal parts desire and love on his face, and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pushing his plate away.
“I think we’re gonna call it a night,” he announced, winking at Lyra, who dropped her head to hide her own blushing grin. “As Tech would say, we’re going to tackle a new endeavor together.”
A cacophony of responses broke out, everything from “gross!” to “oh yeah!” as Hunter pulled Lyra to her feet, ignoring the hoots and taunts as they made for the door.
They began their stroll down the familiar path, weaving through the homes of the island, and when they came to a flat, grassy knoll that overlooked the sea, they came to a halt. Lyra’s questioning glance was mollified as she watched him gazing far into the distance, both present and far away in his thoughts, and she leaned into his side, snuggling her arm through his and resting her cheek on his shoulder.
He sighed contently, as though years of stress and turmoil were gently being washed away by the sea. Wave after wave settled his shoulders more and more, and he was struck by a sudden flashback of his encounter with a native Xyloan upon their arrival to the island. "Fragmented," she had said, assessing him with a keen eye that saw much more than just the surface, and she'd left him with some rather cryptic words: But even shattered shards find smoothing and settling in the steadiness of the sea.
A bit of mirth touched the memory as he remembered Tech’s delight at the “astonishing alliteration” when he’d shared the details of the encounter, and he continued watching the waves in silence, Lyra leaning lightly against him in quiet solidarity. He hadn’t understood it then, but now the sentiment seemed to settle into his soul, a comfortable, familiar weight that grounded and reassured. The sea was never still; it was constantly shifting with the winds and tides, and yet it was consistent, dependable, beautiful. With a steady roll between sand and stone, it softened the edges of even the sharpest fragments of glass, pieces that had been broken by the abrasive relentlessness of life.
Like him.
And yet, throughout a process that seemed arbitrary or tumultuous at times, something was being formed. Something with a new purpose. Something to be treasured.
A light breeze caressed him, brushing tendrils of hair out of his face and providing a cool contrast to the balmy rays of the setting sun. He closed his eyes. Inhaled a deep, cleansing breath. Let it out slowly through his mouth. Then opened his eyes with a relaxed smile.
He turned toward Lyra, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and regarding her fondly. She said nothing, simply gazed at him with radiant affection, and moved her arm to rest around his waist. He pressed his lips to her hair in a long, lingering kiss, murmuring gratitude and love before pulling away.
Perhaps he could allow himself to settle into a new purpose. Perhaps he could allow himself to be treasured. Perhaps he could rest in the deep sense of reassurance that invited him to be at peace.
Their eyes met again, and with a simple, small nod from each of them that spoke volumes, they continued on their way, hand in hand.
Hunter found himself looking forward to the future, whatever it held, knowing that he was where he was supposed to be. Beyond the shadow of a doubt.

I love you
Tumblr media
A/N: Thank you guys so much for answering my poll. 🙏 I hope you guys enjoy! 😊
Summary: As the Batch explores Pabu, you and Omega grow closer. Hunter thinks about new beginnings, and Omega reflects on her relationships.
Genre: More tooth-rotting fluffff, teensie bit of angst
Warnings: It’s another tear-jerker, Omega continually being absolutely adorable
Mando’a key: haran: hell
As the Marauder landed on the foreign planet, Omega grabbed your hand eagerly to be the first one out of the ship and into the new territory.
“C’mon Y/N!” She yelled as she pulled you with her. Phee walked close behind, chuckling at the child’s eagerness.
“I’m glad you’re excited, kid. You’re gonna love it.” Phee added with a half smile. She nodded at you and walked down the ramp first.
You examined the bright blue sky and heard the waves of water close by. You admired the architecture of the platform as you began to walk behind Phee with Omega’s hand in yours. You looked down at her and smiled, seeing her wide eyes filled with curiosity and wonder.
You and the batch continued to walk until you came upon a large tree. It was a magnificent sight, the tree towering over you in all its glory.
You noticed two individuals walking your way, a child and a tall man with his arms outstretched. You listened intently as the man introduced himself to be the Mayor and that the young girl was his daughter.
You smiled at the girl, who smiled back. Omega seemed quite fond of her and you could tell they would be good friends already. You felt a hand on your shoulder, you looked to your right to see Hunter grinning at you. You grinned back.
“What do you think?” You whispered to him. He sighed.
“I think this place is amazing, but I don’t really want to admit it yet.” He whispered back with a smirk as he nodded his head towards Phee. You nodded your head understanding what he was saying.
There have been way too many times when you’ve let your guard down and things have gone to haran. Hunter knew this and knew to be more cautious when in a new environment. So, even if this place seemed like paradise, keeping a look out until you knew for sure that it was safe was the plan for now.
The group seemed to split up as you were dragged by Omega to say hello to her new found friend and Hunter went to talk to the Mayor. And Tech found someone new, but it was of no surprise to you.
You could tell the first time Phee said, ‘brown eyes’ that she had the hots for him. Tech, well, he’s Tech. He probably has no clue she’s flirting, but he’ll catch on. Eventually.
You introduced yourself to the child, who you now knew was named Lyana. Omega continued to hold your hand which made Lyana curious as to what you were to her. She tilted her head and smiled.
“Are you her mother?” This made your eyes widen.
I mean sure, you were somewhat of a “motherly figure” to Omega. Being as you were the only female in the batch at the moment. But, never have you actually used the title. It’s not like Omega would call you mom on a regular basis. This was new. And you had no idea what to reply. You stood frozen.
That is until, Omega saved the day. She cleared her throat and smiled up at you.
“Yeah, she is.” You shook your head, getting out of your trance as you looked down at Omega with her wide smile and precious eyes. You were on the verge of tears, but held it in to prevent the embarrassment of crying in front of a child you just met. You nodded your head at said girl and she smiled.
“That’s wonderful!” Then her shoulders slumped ever so slightly. “You’re lucky Omega. I wish my mom was here.” You and Omega’s eyes were saddened. Omega looked up at you and pouted. You frowned and knelt down to Lyana’s level.
You placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, she looked up at you curiously.
“I don’t know the whole story, but I’m very sorry for your loss.” Lyana smiled gratefully.
“Thank you.” You stood up and Lyana composed herself. “My mother passed away a few years ago. But seeing you two together reminded me of her and how much I love her.” She grinned, you and Omega smiled back.
While this beautiful moment was happening. Hunter was having a little heart to heart with the Mayor.
“Pabu is a great place to rejuvenate, we also consider it a safe haven.” Hunter nodded his head along to what the Mayor was saying.
“Most of this island is composed of refugees, is it not?” The Mayor nodded his head.
“You are quite correct. The refugees have found this a safe place to raise their children as well.” He said, motioning his head towards you and Omega. “You and your wife would find that it is the perfect place for you to raise your child. A place where she can roam free without care. A place where she can actually be a child.” Hunter watched you and Omega.
He had longed for a place to settle down with you and Omega. A place where Omega could have a childhood, a place where you two could be together and raise her together.
Hunter was snapped out of his thoughts as the Mayor placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“From a father to a father,” he paused and smiled. “I believe this place will be perfect for your family.”
Hunter’s eyes widened slightly at his statement. Mostly because he hadn’t realized that was what you were to him. A family. Hunter never had that. He probably guessed the same went for you as well.
He looked at you and Omega again and smiled. Seeing Omega’s hand in yours, the smiles on both your faces. The love he could feel that you had for her, as if she was your own. The love that he had for the both of you, clarified how much he had dreamed for a place like this.
He turned to the Mayor and nodded his head.
“Thank you,” he paused. “I’ll take it into consideration.” The mayor smiled then walked towards the others.
“C’mon everyone, follow me.” Everyone followed the Mayor and later found out he was holding a big feast for your arrival.
During the feast, you couldn’t help but look at Omega fondly as she conversed with her new found friend. When she asked to go with Lyana on her boat, you were surprised Hunter allowed her to.
Being as though, he is very overprotective and cautious. You couldn’t help but be shocked that he agreed without hesitation. You looked at him with a raised brow. He looked at you and shrugged. You squinted your eyes and went back to eating.
Whilst this was happening, Omega was giddily following Lyana down to the shore below. She was beyond ecstatic that Hunter let her go have fun with her new friend.
As they sat admiring the island and the water around them, Omega’s mind wandered back to the previous conversation she had with Lyana and you.
Were you really her mom? She would love it if you were, and it seemed you would feel the same way. But, she wasn’t too sure. You hadn’t labeled it. Today was actually the first time she had called you that. But she did like the sound. Mom and you, just made sense in her head.
“You seem distracted,” Lyana commented, breaking the silence. Omega turned her head towards her. She sighed.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” Lyana smiled.
“Is something wrong?” Omega immediately shook her head.
“No, I was just thinking.” Lyana nodded her head.
“You wanna talk about it?” Omega played with her fingers.
“Well, okay.” Lyana grinned. Omega scooted closer to her. She explained her situation and your relationship with her. Lyana nodded her head along. When Omega finished, Lyana pursed her lips.
“I don’t know much. But from my experience, the way she held you and looked at you, it seemed as though she saw you as her own.” Omega looked at her with wide eyes.
“Really? You saw all that?” Lyana giggled.
“Yeah. In fact, the way you described her sounds just like my mother.” Lyana frowned a bit. Omega noticed.
“I’m sorry.” Lyana shook her head.
“It’s alright,” she paused thinking for a moment. “I’d probably talk to her about it. If you're so worried. And maybe your dad too? I’m not exactly sure which one is your father. Is it the one with the tattoo on his face and the bandanna?” Omega giggled.
“Yeah, that’s a whole other problem too.” Lyana’s eyes widened.
“Really?” Omega nodded her head and sighed. Lyana hummed.
“Well, it’s just like I said. You should talk to them. I don’t know everything, but as your friend, I want to help.” Omega smiled gratefully.
“Thank you, that helped a lot,” she chuckled. “I guess I just needed to get it out and talk about it.” They laughed, but it was stopped abruptly as the boat jerked.
To say you were worried about Omega was an understatement. You tried to focus on helping the citizens of Pabu, but you couldn’t take your mind off of Omega being in danger. You were finally relieved when you saw her and Lyana wave from the Marauder.
As soon as the ship landed, you immediately ran over. Omega barely stepped off the ramp when you engulfed her in a hug. Omega was taken back, but right after wrapped her arms around you tightly. You pulled back and pointed your finger at her with a small glare.
“Don’t you dare scare me like that again.” Omega smiled and hugged you again. You held her head and sighed.
After the situation with the tidal wave, Hunter decided it was best to stay and help with repairs. Which you agreed with wholeheartedly. After their warm welcome, you couldn’t help but feel the urge to aid them.
As the day went by, you came to find that this place was indeed a paradise. Filled with kind and pleasant people. You couldn’t help but love Pabu.
As the day came to an end, you wiped the sweat off your forehead with the back of your hand with a sigh. You looked at everyone picking up remains, handing out food and blankets.
Though this place seemed utterly irredeemable, the people of Pabu had faith and hope for their home to be rebuilt. You smiled and dusted your hands off as you walked towards the batch.
Hunter noticed you first and smiled. He wrapped an arm around your shoulder and kissed your temple. You chuckled at his open use of PDA, which didn’t happen quite often. Not saying you didn’t love the sudden display, but you were a bit befuddled. You quirked a brow and smirked at him.
“What was that for?” He shrugged, then pulled you closer.
“Just felt like it,” he whispered in your ear, which sent shivers down your spine. You rolled your eyes and shook your head.
As you said your good nights to the rest of the squad, Hunter would not let you go. As you hugged Tech and Wrecker good night, Hunter stood on the side practically tapping his toe waiting for you to be done so he could have you in his arms again. You had no idea what made him change his demeanor, until it was Omega’s turn to say goodnight.
She ran up to you and engulfed you in a hug. You lifted her up and spun her around, she giggled and smiled. Hunter watched fondly, then kneeled in front of Omega with arms outstretched. Omega ran into them and wrapped her arms around Hunter’s neck, which he responded to accordingly by embracing her.
Omega pulled back and looked at you, she motioned for you to join. You rolled your eyes and joined them on the floor for a group hug.
“I love you.” You heard Omega whisper. She pulled away and smiled.
This was the first time Omega said those words. Not that she didn’t love you two before. She just didn’t have the knowledge of love in her naive brain. Hunter looked at you and smiled.
“We love you too, kid.” Hunter looked back at Omega and you nodded your head.
“Very much,” you emphasized.
Omega thought of bringing up her problem she discussed earlier with Lyana. Then remembered what Lyana said right before they thought they weren’t going to make it.
Your mother and father, I don’t think you need to worry about a label! If they love you, she paused, catching her breath. Then that’s enough!
Omega smiled thinking back to the moment. She could discuss this with you guys another time. For now, she just wanted to express how grateful she was to have you in her life.

After rewatching episode 8 with cool mind and without the emotions that accompanied me the first time, I already know what triggered me so much that I have such a problem accepting the fact that they lied to the police:
it's actually not even about the fact that they lied to the police that Non didn't go with them
it's about how actively they worked to mislead the police, and therefore Non's parents, into Non's elopement with Keng, which btw, only Tee AND JIN did
and although this is understandable when it comes to Tee, who is now, without realizing it, a member of the mafia literally covering up their crimes...
...Jin didn't have to do it. When the cop says that Jin is said to be the closest to Non, Jin could have said "um, not really". And what he ABSOLUTELY DID NOT HAVE TO DO was answer the next question: "what is the possibility that Non ran away with Mr. Keng?" Jin might have said "I don't know, I didn't know him that well, I didn't know they were close until this video came out". What does Jin do? He not only lies, he creates an additional alternative reality, something that has no use for HIM, so he absolutely, absolutely NEVER had to do it
even taking into account the fear of corrupt police, which I doubt (I'll get back to it later), THERE IS STILL NON'S FAMILY, left without Non and without answers as to where he is
What triggers me so much is not that they lied to the police, but HOW they lied, especially Tee and Jin. The potential fear of the police (and the real fear of the consequences) could only be limited to "he wasn't with us, we don't know where he is." But Tee AND JIN did something extra, something specifically misleading and ruining Non's reputation, his life and his future, especially if they live in the illusion that nothing bad happened and Non is alive.
THAT'S WHY I'M WAITING FOR THE SCENE WHEN THEY AGREE HOW TO TESTIFY TOGETHER. Why? Because I'm pretty sure that Tee made them all believe that Non was taken by Keng and they ran away together and it will look bad FOR THEM that Non was with them at that time and used them as a cover for his parents (we can only guess how Por and Fluke will be the first to jump in and lie so as not to ruin their already damaged reputation with another scandal and new problems with their parents and a precious future in medicine). This would also explain Jin's behaviour, who has a very romantic view of love and who first recorded Non "as a punishment because he cheated on his boyfriend", and now thinks that maybe, since Non actually ran away with Keng, maybe THIS was a real love. And what he says may even be an attempt to excuse Non that he is not a bad boy, but that he ran away with his beloved. Tee telling them this would also explain the boys' behavior at the beginning of the series, why Por, Fluke and especially Jin think that Non is alive but doesn't want anything to do with them and why Tee and Top were the first ones to think that Non was dead and is the ghost because they were the last who saw Non and know perfectly well, that he wasn't taken by Keng at all.
But at this point, knowing what we know, Tee and Jin's behavior is indefensible, and while yes, ACAB, let's not forget about Non's family. That's why I have such a big problem with it. Because their testimony wasn't "I don't know, I don't remember, he wasn't with us, thank you, goodbye", but to turn Non into a whore running away with his teacher in a nationwide sex scandal. And then jointly parasitizing his work. That's why I'm counting on more information about it, why they did it 🙂
And I am 99.99% convinced that they did not lie to the police because they are afraid of them, I don't believe that a bunch of 17-year-old more or less morons and bullies are cynical, jaded citizens fully aware of the socio-economic status and sociological nuances of living in a society. After all, even Phee, who is a son of a cop, is actually surprised that his father can't do anything for Non. No, I'm convinced they lied to the police to protect their own asses. There is no fear of corrupt police here, there is fear of CONSEQUENCES and a desperate attempt to move away from the "Non problem".
Of course, I could be completely wrong 🤭😄

I’ve just hc Tech as an absolute menace at this rate
My boy is disrespectful and steals from any and everyone (not kidding either. Bro has stolen a lightsaber before, I’m not hearing otherwise.)
TBF though- Chaos Tech is an absolute delight
Also gotta get this out there- I simply adore the idea that the batch are actually still kiddos. The amount of AUs I have where they’re just traumatised little gremlins trying to live.
Only time they aren’t children is when Tech has a relationship with Phee
But every other time?
Kiddos. 100%.
Works hand in hand with my Chaos Tech
He’s tiny, he’s Chaos, and if he gets caught, he’s the precious darling in tears.

https://www.tumblr.com/batlleonafc/759089384677113856/old-but-gold-uconn-content
Slaps hand on the roof of the car; this video has so much gold in here! Baby Gabby, Kia, Phee, and Katie Lou!! Lou setting off the alarm! The fact that “ together” has been the word for huddles for so long! Them trying to embarrass CD! CD with her trivia games! (Gabby is me when someone answers first to a question I /know/ I know)! Lou and Phee being on the same trivia team and being so happy when the other one gets it right! Phee not even waiting for CD to finish the question and it actually being ‘Missouri’! Gabby saying “kids these days” as if she didn’t make a whole meal for them at the beginning!
Anyway, love the UConn girlies!
AWWW MY PRECIOUS LITTLE BEANS THEY WERE SUCH BABIES I'M GONNA SOB.
This was such an underrated UConnWBB team and if it wasn't for goddamn buzzer beaters, they would have absolutely extented the 4-peat. Man what a goddamn trio like holy shit UConn really had all three of them.
CD and her trivia still alive and well and I love that for us!

[Read] Linus Baker ~End
Let's begin with how I've turned into waterworks by the time I read the last 50 pages. I couldn't stop. The House in the Cerulean Sea is wonderful and endearing, and I love my parents Linus and Arthur and cool auntie Zoe ajsdgAJSGDASJDSDGF
I felt like it's so wonderfully built, the characters, the world it lives, the story itself and how it unfold. The contrasting lives of the very mundane and dull life Linus once had when he got a taste of his true home by the ocean he never even saw before, the sunlight that beams, the loud kids with slightly eccentric nature, and ofc LOVEEEE aaughh
I'm too tired and I can't think of what to write. I teared up a lot HAHAHA so I'll sleep and write what I thought later. But for now. Sal's poem... Talia holding Linus' hands for the adventure... Lucy referring to Sal as his brother... Theodore giving a peek of his hoards of treasures... Phee and her bush daisy... Arthur's secret... Lucy being tucked in his bed before Linus left... Zoe's frustation before the train depart... Linus' wake up call... Arthur's "stay".... And again, Sal's poem but this time spoken loud by Linus. THERE'S A LOT OF WATERWORKS... THEY'RE SO PRECIOUS TO ME NOW... EXACTLY... FOUND FAMILY TROPE... AUGHSHHSHSHDHH
I need to sleep now...
---------------------------
I WILL WRITE MORE OF MY THOUGHTS TOMMOROW
---------------------------
Edit. 2 days later.
I haven't wrote my thoughts last tommorow. Oh. Okay, ahem,
My thoughts about this book is that it's really wholesome and fluffy as a whole. It's hopeful and the tone as a whole is incredibly cute most of the times. And mostly that is because of the kids, Linus' slowly coming out of his shell and how they interacts with one another. It touches a lot about differences, about prejudices, morals and about family (or lack-thereof). Treading lightly in delicate issue such as abuse and putting light on it with gentle lights.
I was going to say that I thought since there's like, 6 kids, not everyone is given the same amount of spotlight and character arcs. I felt like for some like Phee, Chauncey and Theodore. They can feel like a little bit one-dimensional, though then again, it's a portrayal of children and I'm not supposed to think too much over it. I liked Sal's arc, the repeating usage of his soft voice and poetry and the presence his poem the first time he said it and the last time Linus' proclaimed in his speech, which is absolutely chilling to the heart both of the times. I liked Talia's presence, being the first kid to meet Linus and dare I say I felt like he's closest to her the most. Her clinging to Linus' hands, and being round buddies (as she said) is very warm. And of course, Lucy. It surprised me that although in the story he was made to be this, like, super dangerous kid, I felt like he's not... The center of it, with Linus, at least. (I felt that with Sal, actually). But still I felt he's well portrayed, and I grew fond of him the most. The commander for the adventure journey, fear of the spiders in his mind, standing up for Sal and calling him his brother.
I don't know what else to say. I feel full and satiated. It's a journey, alright?
The ending is the cutest, I swear. Adoption, becoming fathers... What else do I need to say. I... There's a bit of me that felt a bit irked, since... Well, about the thing with Linus wanting to help the kids, etc. But ended up quitting his job on the spot the moment he got the news that Extremely Upper Managament approved his recommendations. The Orphanage isn't going to be closed down. Things like, what happens, then? I forgave it, because I don't think the story needs more complications and angst but I don't... I'm just nitpicking a bit.
I am now craving for more fantasy-ish story. I think Mr. Klune did really well with his worlds and words. Under the Whispering Door Next? ;)

She couldn't help it: a light, genuine laugh left her at that. Ophelia was trying so hard to be understanding and selfless, but this was such a severe case of crossed wires that Sigyn couldn't help but see the humour in it.
"Look, come here," A hand reached for one of Phee's, gently guiding her to sit at one of the tables in the automat and then taking the seat opposite her. "I feel like you're missing a fundamental piece of information about Loki and I, and it feels very unfair to let you carry on with this train of thought without it."
Tumblr media
"I know that it already has the potential to seem incredibly complicated, what with the Variant aspect to consider - but Loki has decided that's very much a non-issue, and I'm starting to think that they're right." There was an unmistakable fondness in her tone when she said that, which absolutely reinforced her point that she was coming around to Loki's way of thinking. But then her focus moved back to the real issue, and she squeezed her hand lightly before carrying on.
"Loki and I... The bond we have is very precious, and there is no denying that. But if I said that we've never believed that love was a... Finite resource, would you understand what I meant?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I don’t?” Ophelia didn’t understand. Was Sigyn just being polite? Not wanting to hurt her feelings while she settled in with Loki?
There wasn’t such a thing as polyamory on Gallifrey, and although she was on Earth for a bit, she didn’t delve much into romance or learn enough of the dating culture there or on Asgard, to know that there could be more than two people in a relationship. It wasn’t even a thought for her to consider that the suggestions Loki made or the way Sigyn was speaking now was alluding to that very fact.
“I don’t mind, really, I get it.” She reiterates, as if it’s Sigyn that didn’t understand her. “I don’t think I’d want to share him either if I had the sort of relationship you two have.”

The House in the Cerulean Sea
Please read this book.
Do you like queer romance, particularly between mlm? Do you like found family? Do you like queer romance written by queer authors? Do you like fantasy? Do you like books that are equal parts humorous and heart-squeezing, with happy endings?
Then please read this book.
The House in the Cerulean Sea is a found family, queer romantic fantasy book by TJ Klune, a queer man himself. It tells the story of Linus Baker, a forty-year-old man employed as a caseworker for the Department in Charge of Magical Youth (essentially, social services for magical beings) who is sent to Marsyas Island in order to inspect the classified level four orphanage there, run by Arthur Parnassus. Linus is to stay there a month, and send back detailed reports of his observations each week.
I honestly feel I can’t say more without spoiling the book, at least not in great detail. I want to—believe me, I could gush about this book—but I also feel that this book is something best experienced without too many things spoiled for it ahead of time. What I will say is:
— I would kill and die for each of the six children at the Marsyas orphanage. They are all absolutely precious, unique, and utterly charming.
— Linus does start out a bit of a bastard at first, as forged by his environment, but he gets better (and pretty quickly, at that). He has his sympathetic points even at the beginning, but once he arrives on the island there are definite moments when you want to shake him. (But as I said, he gets better.)
— The book does take a bit to get into, but once Linus gets to the island it picks up considerably. (And he gets there pretty soon, and the bits before the island are necessary to establish both his character and to set a contrast between where he lives and the island to which he travels.)
— The romance is a slow burn in the BEST way, and had me clutching at my chest so many times. The yearning, it is there.
— I will say that some of the children were unfortunately not as fleshed out as others; Phee in particular I feel got the short end of the stick. But it’s understandable given the length of the book and they’re all absolutely precious all the same. Lucy gets the most attention, but that’s understandable for multiple reasons, not the least of which being he hams it up 98% of the time.
— The book deals a lot in bigotry and how harmful it is, and how one must work to overcome their own prejudices, and how even when everything seems bleak there is still hope in the world that somehow, in slow and small ways, things can get better.
— This book is just really, really excellent and is easily at the top of my favorites now.
So, in conclusion:
Do you like queer romance with lots of yearning? Do you like mlm/wlw solidarity? Do you like queer stories written by queer authors? Do you like stories that center around found family? Do you like fantasy stories with lots of magic? Do you like stories with the happiest of happy endings?
Then do yourself a favor, and read The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. I promise you will not regret it.

okay now that I’ve finished the book he is much less of a damp sock and I sincerely hope he forever enjoys being gay married with several magical children in a house by the cerulean sea
I’m 30 pages in and Linus is the most pathetic wet rag of a man I’ve ever met. I adore him
