#and people are allowed to think that's reason enough to dislike him because this doesn't even get properly addressed after this episode

i love it when people deliberately misinterpret the reasons people don't like shuro. you say "shuro has an idealized view of falin that he's infatuated with because he doesn't know her" and others go "so you're saying he loves her tits and ass"
like jesus fuck we get it "he's at his worst! he gets better! he cares!" yeah we know. are we allowed to dislike a character? it doesn't automatically mean we're stupid and don't get him like you do (like come on let's not forget he was willing to basically get marcille arrested for something he would've also done under the conditions they were all in)
i'm not advocating for toshiro hate btw he's treated with as much care as everyone else in the narrative (his relationship w his party gets more elaborated in extras for example) because he's a person like everyone else! and people can dislike people without flanderizing them!

Ok so I've been seeing complaints about Book 7's ending by a few minority not only here, but from other platforms as well. While everyone is of course allowed to dislike something, let's tackle a few points:
Malleus deserved a harsher punishment
Everyone witnessed Diasomnia's moment. Everybody knew he accidentally killed Lilia. Everyone knows how much Lilia means to Malleus. So everyone knows that there's no punishment harsher than the eternal scar of accidentally killing your own father.
And that's not enough, because he lost majority of his power. THIS is his prolonged punishment. We should remember that his entire life revolved around being the strongest, so all of his foundation hinged on that. If you're an artist, it's like losing your dominant hand and having to relearn how to draw with your other. Except in his case it's like losing both his hands so he needs to learn how to draw with his feet.
While it's true that he's far happier now than he was when he was strong, that doesn't mean he won't go through so much suffering as a consequence. For 200 years. 200 years of being weak means he's not fit to be king; no Dark Fae will follow a man akin to a common Fae. His nobles will not respect him. He's now a very easy target, since he's not indestructible anymore.
This basically means he's currently a pretty decoration to Briar Valley. An unemployed trust fund kid. Random people will likely mock him or treat him like an amusing animal in a zoo.
Which means he will have to build his reputation from the ground up, against all odds, as a disgraced prince.
Malleus tried to kill x and x
No he did not. He genuinely thought he found a breakthrough and was doing the world a service by making immortality accessible to everyone. Remember that he used to be the strongest; he thought nobody was just capable of this feat until he did.
He was quite literally insane at that moment. When he did accidentally kill Lilia, he snapped to his senses and immediately reacted like a small child. He doesn't want to believe it, because he would never do something like that. He simply doesn't want to kill anyone-- what he wanted was the opposite: that nobody needs to die anymore.
Everybody left him off the hook so easily
We get a lot of scenes explaining this. Sure maybe for you their reasons are bullshit, but the fact is that this is a Disney story. He would never be executed. But the following are from different accounts from different characters.
There were actually very few injured, because even though he was insane in dragon form, a part of his morality was there and he unconsciously avoided hurting people as much as possible. There are more injuries that happen in Spelldrive than who Malleus injured, according to Epel.
For the rest of the student body, they were simply having the best dreams of their lives. Many compared to it an amusement park and want to experience it again.
The other overblotters tried to protest, but were reminded that they too almost killed people. Some were genuinely out to kill people while Malleus wasn't.
Most people on Sage Island are actually good people, unlike NRC students. They embody the values of Fantasia Mickey, where the apprentice was given a second chance instead of being exiled because he showed actual remorse.
He is entitled and thinks he's always right
Yes he's entitled. But that's part of his character. He thought he was right, insisted he was right, but when he was defeated and told otherwise, he accepted it wholeheartedly. He was the only overblotter who actually apologized in public, recognized he did wrong, thanked everyone for helping him, and swore he will become a better man.
He literally can't take back anything that's happened. Kicking him further will not achieve anything.
Why didn't he talk it out with Yuu instead of immediately jumping to overblot
He doesn't even understand that he's feeling something negative. Nobody taught him to recognize his own feelings. He was raised to be strong and independent, so his first instinct was to deal with the problem himself.
He can't even talk it out with Lilia and Silver; there was no way he could talk it out to a friend he just met that year.
His power literally hurts his surroundings when he tries to feel things. He's likely afraid of accidentally striking someone with lightning or drowning them in storms if he admits that he's feeling down.
He didn't know too much negative feelings could lead to an overblot. He was already out of his mind before he knew it.
There could be more but these are off the top of my head.

» to the one who understood; shigaraki tomura x reader
synopsis: tomura shigaraki didn't let just anyone into his life. he had built a cage around the most broken parts of himself, yet he willingly watched you slip through the cracks in the walls he'd so carefully constructed—it was either go big or go home, and you went straight for the most vulnerable part tomura possessed—his heart.
tagging @shigarakislaughter because it would be criminal to not tag the head of the tomura shigaraki nation HEH <3 also congrats on your new job bby!! :D
Tumblr media
Tomura Shigaraki wasn't a bad person. That didn't mean he was the best—but nobody is perfect. He knows this. So, he doesn't try to be. He's simply his authentic self around you. Tomura never really did think he could ever attract anyone. He's not exactly conventionally handsome, and his humor borderlines between something sinister and wildly crude. But he managed to charm you, somehow.
He'll blame it on your parents dropping you on your head too many times. He'll blame it on Musutafu's hot sun frying all your brain cells—you're truly so stupid for falling in love with him.
Out of all the people you could have been with in the world, you chose the suicidal maniac with ideologies and ways bigger than life itself. Really, him? Tomura doesn't get it.
He doesn't like the way your voice softens when you speak to him. How you even managed to figure out his dislike for loud noises is beyond him. But, you accommodate for Tomura in a way no one has before. He watched you fall in love with him—he watched you go through every stage, and he did nothing to stop it.
He couldn't because it was inevitable: the second your eyes met his, your pupils dilated like a flower in bloom.
You were a new recruit to the league when he first saw you, a wide eyed thing who smiled too much. Tomura hated how there was nothing to dislike about you—he'd glance your way and scoff sometimes, because why can't he find a reason to steer away from you? Something that ticks him off? He refused to accept the fact that maybe you really were just a good person.
Tomura doesn't let people in, it's not his thing. His mind and body are a fortress and no one is allowed entrance inside. It doesn't matter how you make his heart skip or how you soothe the ache in his chest, he'd prefer if you stayed far away from him.
But Tomura kept you at arm's length—torturing himself by keeping you so so close yet infinitely far. He'll let you sit inches away from touching him, but when he glances at you—he imagines a milky way between the two of your bodies, keeping him in line and allowing him to never stray far enough to hold your hand or bump his shoulder against yours.
Kurogiri told Tomura if he ever wanted to pursue someone like you, he wouldn't be against it. Maybe it would be good for Tomura, he suggested. A soul connection was what Tomura had always lacked—and his soulmate was right there—you were right there. But Tomura was stubborn.
Tomura's afraid you'll calm the rage in his heart. He looks at you and he wants to forget all his pain, all his fear, all his hurt—he wants to toss it all into the sea and start anew with you. But the feeling is fleeting, because he pushes it down the moment it blooms in his chest. Stomps on it until there's nothing left.
"Tomu?"
Tomura's eyes tear away from the monitor in front of him the moment he hears your voice. Subconsciously, Tomura straightens in his seat and regards you with a glare, one that was more affectionate than filled with its usual malice reserved for everyone else.
You grin at his silent invitations once he beckons you into his room with a careless hand, telling you to close the door as he spins his chair to face you. Tomura's posture is as if he's sitting in a throne rather than a gaming chair, and your lips twitch at the sight—he notices your barely contained smile and sighs
"What do you want?" he murmurs, turning back to his monitor before he gets back to work. At least, that's what he hopes you think—he's clicking on random things, trying to look like he's busy or occupied with something. But the folder he closes and re-opens over and over doesn't go unnoticed by you.
"I see you've cleaned your room!" You grin, crossing your legs as you sit down on the edge of his newly made bed. Tomura rolls his eyes, folding a fist under his chin as his eyes stayed glued to his monitor
"Only 'cause you wouldn't stop nagging me about it. You're really annoying, you know that?"
Your smile only widens, and the sight makes something in Tomura's stomach flip. He ignores you, glaring at the screen in front of him and praying to the universe his heart would stop beating so fast already.
"I'm proud of you, Tomu. I know you don't hear it often from me, but I really mean it. I think you care more about this kind of stuff then you let on." You say softly, and you can see Tomura's muscles tense for just a second before they go slack—a sign that his undoing was truly your praise.
There's a light pink dust coating his cheek. He stares at you silently, blinking and waiting for you to continue on with something like "Ha, just kidding!" —anything to go against what you'd just said. But you're so sincere it almost hurts. Tomura's eyes widen a fraction when you hop off his bed with ease, moving past him and towards the door to leave—you're talking about how you're going to go pick up some dinner for the two of you from the corner store, sending him a cheeky grin he knew far too well before you placed a chaste kiss onto his cheek
"See you later, Tomu!"
Tomura stares at the door for a full minute after it closes. Then, he presses the heels of his hands to his eyes and slumps in his chair. For the first time in a while, Tomura cries. He cries because you're the kindest person he'd ever known.
Tumblr media
Your son looks nothing like Tomura.
It's still Tomura's son, of course. But the boy grasping your hand right now has black hair, mused from the wind outside and wide brown eyes—sparkling with youth and joy. In his small hands is a card, and he holds it with vigor as he walks with you, chatting about his day at kindergarten today.
Of the pictures online, Tomura is depicted as a monster, with untamable white hair and the cruelest red eyes. That wasn't your Tomura, you had the pleasure of knowing the real one.
"I really hope dad likes my card. Ma, did you know I got to use my new markers in class today? Kenji even said they're the coolest markers ever! They draw so well!"
Your son's smile reminds you of a certain someone. You'd only seen the subdued look of genuine happiness in Tomura's eyes—he could never be truly happy after all he'd been through. Your son's emotions were more fleshed out—he is what Tomura never could be. Happy.
"That's nice, Tenko. I'm glad you liked those markers. How about this, we have a drawing competition with those very same ones after we're done visiting your father, okay?" You smile, gently pinching his cheek as he nods enthusiastically with a toothy grin. His eyes catch sight of something behind you—and he's off running a second later.
"Careful!" you laugh, following his excited footsteps as he finds the familiar headstone with the name Tenko Shimura engraved neatly on the top. Carefully, you pick up the old bouquet you'd left last week on his grave and replace it with the new one you and your son had picked up this morning.
Tenko launches into a full story about his newest comic after carefully placing his card down onto the grass, curling up against his father's headstone—giggling and smiling wistfully as he tells him all about his day.
Naming your son after Tomura was oddly fulfilling.
Your son is everything Tomura could have been if love had found him sooner—he could’ve been happy. The world was cruel, but it also gave you Tomura. It allowed you to love him, even if you came too late. Even if he was too far gone. And even after all that happened, Tomura didn't leave you all by yourself.
While Tomura's eyes are different from Tenko's—they both had the same enamoured gleam in them whenever they looked at you.
Tenko falls asleep by sunset, and you take your time talking to Tomura. You tell him about your new job, you tell him how Tenko found one of his old video games in your attic and has been playing it nonstop, and you tell him you miss him.
"—a fucking lot. I can't believe you're gone, Tomu. I see you every night in my dreams."
You glance down at the little boy in your arms, running a soothing hand through his hair to confirm he's asleep before smiling sadly.
"I almost followed right behind you. I would have—I woke up in a hospital with no idea that you were gone. Then, they told me I had this little miracle blooming in my stomach and gosh—it was almost like i could hear your laughter ringing in my head." You whisper, remembering the day Tomura died. It was night now, but your town was luckily safe enough for you and your son to go out and visit the nearby graveyard. Though there may be no body laying beneath, the headstone is enough for you to feel closer to Tomura.
You tip your head towards the sky, resting your cheek against the side of his grave. There was a night, you can't remember when—when Tomura confessed he liked your smile.
So, that's what you do. You smile towards the stars and picture Tomura hanging amongst them in the sky—watching you forever. Tomura liked to call you a treasure sometimes. Something good in a world that's rotten.
"You're special to me. So, please don't miss me too much if this all goes wrong. I'd hate to see you sad."
Your fingertips quickly press against your eyes, and you slump against his grave with a whimper. You allow yourself to cry only because your son isn't awake to see it. You cry because you'll have to mourn Tomura for longer than you've known him.
It hurts. That night when you go to bed is the same as all the previous ones. You dream of Tomura and his gentle smile. The only thing that lulls you to sleep is the prospect that maybe, just maybe—he's finally at peace.

Caitlyn:
- she is in the 10th grade
- excellent student, never cheats on exams
- performs all additional tasks to get the respect of teachers and be a good student
- she's good at sports, but doesn't like physical education lessons
- when she doesn't understand something, she asks Jayce for help and he explains everything very clearly
- lets only friends copy her homeworks/tests
- is always neat, wears blouses and jackets
- doesn't like to show off, but everyone knows how rich her family is
- doesn't have much friends, basically only Jayce and Vi, but also has good relationship with Mel
- helped Jayce to get together with Mel
- signed up for all school clubs and extras
Vi:
- she is in the 10th grade
- physical education is her favorite subject
- is really good at cheating on exams
- didn't leave the school only because she doesn't want to part with her friends and gf
- sometimes she skips lessons, but does it well not to have problems with teachers
- she is not stupid and is able to understand some difficult subjects, such as physics, but considers it useless and prefers to do something more "practical"
- only sits with Caitlyn
- considers most classmates very stupid and doesn't take them seriously
- tries to have a good reputation among the teachers so she can cover for Jinx if anything happens
Jayce:
- he is in 11th grade
- he's an excellent student, but he doesn't do anything "extra", even for a good grade
- he constantly argues with teachers, and usually turns out to be right, but they don't always admit it. So he doesn't have good relationship with all of the teachers
- He loves physical education, and loves playing volleyball with Vi
- goes to the same gym with Vi and always competes with her
- allows everyone to copy gis tests and homeworks
- is friendly and sociable, many people like him, but considers only Victor, Caitlyn, Vi and Mel as friends.
- usually sits with Viktor or Mel
- he and Mel are considered to be the "popular couple"
- he was in love with Mel since 5th grade, but they started dating only at 10th one
Jinx :
- she is in the 7th grade
- she often disrupts lessons, but the teachers are afraid to kick her out, and Vi tries to cover her up
- she constantly argues with the teachers, but not to prove she's right, but just because she can
- likes spending time with younger students like Isha
- once when she was studying at the 6th grade she called the fire alarm and everyone still remembers her for it
- skips a lot of the lessons, but still knows everything because she prefers to study by herself
Silco:
- a headmaster who is intentionally trying to make the students' lives worse and is convinced that this is the point of his job
- actually, he's the only reason why Jinx still hasn't been kicked out
- spends the entire school budget on expensive coffee
- he knows that everyone hates him and it doesn't bother him at all
- He only leaves his office on holidays, so only few people know what he looks like.
- he almost never listens to the complaints and opinions of the students, so the teachers don't send anyone to the headmaster except for Jinx
Viktor:
- he is in 11th grade
- he is very capable, but to be an excellent student, he has to work really hard.
- mutually dislikes Mel and doesn't know why (mainly because he believes that Mel has a bad influence on Jayce, but in fact he just wants a bigger friend group, even tho he's actually fine being friends with Jayce and Sky only)
- he refuses to cheat on exams because he wants to prove his abilities to himself
- Found it out that Sky was in love with him only after the graduation
- when he already knows the lesson good enough, he just spends it reading books or doing homework
- usually sits with Jayce, but sometimes with Sky too
- is agree with Jayce in most of his arguments with the teachers, but thinks it's stupid to conflict with them and doesn't like being involved
- Heimerdinger is the "father figure" teacher for him, with whom he spends a lot of time. Singed is also an important teacher to him, but not as close as Heimerdinger
Mel:
- she is in 11th grade
- is a member of the school council
- she tries to study diligently, but is an excellent student mostly due to her excellent reputation
- her favorite subject is history
- she doesn't tell others that Ambessa is her mother and only Caitlyn and Jayce know it
- she is considered to be the most beautiful girl in school
- the favorite of most of the teachers and gets along well with literally everyone in school
- always offres the best ideas in the school council, but because of Silco it is rarely possible to implement them.
- made the first step towards Jayce
- unofficially belongs to the company of "cool kids", but actually isn't really interested in them
- studies well to prove her abilities to Ambessa
- usually sits with Elora or Jayce
Sevika:
- Head teacher
- doesn't like kids very much
- nevertheless, she helps the school council to make the school at least a bit better
- allows herself to be openly rude to Silco, because she knows that she will not be replaced
- she always keeps cognac at school, but doesn't get drunk, she just drinks a little to reduce stress
- leaves work earlier than she supposes too and doesn't what Silco tells her
Ekko:
- he is in the 7th grade
- "the clown of the class", which is why some teachers dislike him
- he is able to express his dissatisfaction when it's needed, but does not argue much with teachers not to get in troublea
- he likes Jinx and Silko doesn't like it.
- is a skater
- has a company out of 7th grade students
- sometimes helps Jinx to make a fuss, but only a bit
Heimerdinger:
- physics & math teacher
- at least half of his lessons are about his life stories and morals
- explains his subject as clearly and easily as possible, so every student understands it
- Victor and Jayce are his favorite students and he sees great potential in them
- the students often make fun of him and don't take him seriously, but he's not aware of it
- nevertheless, the students love him, even Jayce, despite the fact that he constantly argues with him
- he often brings different sweets to the students
- every his lesson turns into a nightmare when Jayce or Jinx visit it. But without them his lessons are as calm and comfortable as possible.

- he is a physical education teacher
- there are rumors that he was a school principal once
- all the children adore him, he gives them advices and supports them.
- organizes card games and board games in his office, so it's always fun there
- he communicates with Sevika well, but she doesn't like him
- lets the whole school eat from his refrigerator
- He openly calls Silco a terrible headmaster and constantly talks about it
Mylo:
- he is in the 9th grade
- he's not very smart, but thinks he is and acts as if he is, however he isn't stupid
- is good at joking
- helps Jinx forge documents since Vi refuses to
- secretly thinks Jayce is cool
- is always late at school
- likes to listen life stories of Heimerdinger and Benzo, spends most of his time in Vander's office

- she gets along well with Jayce's mom well and they often discuss their children together
Grayson:
- Engliah teacher
- the is friends with Vander and Benzo, they often drink together on weekends
- the most fair teacher who does not treat anyone with prejudice
- She's probably the only teacher Jayce doesn't try to argue with, because she only tells the bare facts, doesn't impose her opinion, and doesn't state what she doesn't know for sure

Marcus:
- the school guard
- his daughter studies at elementary school.
- he is biased against students and only lets out those he considers good (Caitlyn and Mel) when they need to leave the school during the lessons, but he won't let Jayce out even when he has official reasons for it

- but it's actually easy to have good relationship with him
- sucking up to Silko and Grace in every possible way
- he considers himself a very fair and excellent security guard

thinking about Cheongryeo and Moondae dynamic and the reasons I can't help but love it is because Moondae is too responsible, so an ambiguous frenemy like Cheongryeo is the only one he will be frank to and show his distastes without caring about the other person's feelings.
moondae sees himself as older than the rest of these guys — not just because of his mental age but also because he's been independent for way longer than them. so he takes care of them and hides his real feelings to not burden them, making sure they get all the care while neglecting his own care because he's used to worse (because back then he was alone and nobody would even ask after him).
and the other guys struggle to get past his defenses to take care of him! because moondae truly doesn't believe he needs help, so he sees their help as obstacles to work around. same with his own emotions and difficulties.
they eventually manage to — but it's so different from the rawness of his interactions with cheongryeo. He can't treat cheongryeo as an outsider the way he does most people because cheongryeo knows too much, but cheongryeo isn't someone he likes either. cheongryeo's ambiguous position allows him to slide in between moondae's defenses and get all his raw bluntness. this is more apparent at the climax of THAT arc — where cheongryeo completely crosses the line but at the same time moondae gains a huge understanding of cheongryeo. This was when moondae really started being more honest around him, while still disliking him a lot.
but Moondae is a softie so even with cheongryeo he eventually starts caring for him but funnily enough cheongryeo is such a big jerk with foot in mouth disease that he'll never enter moondae's mamabear protection circle so moondae will always treat him as an equal.
keunse (big sejin) early dynamic with moondae was like this too (he was the only one moondae was rude to!) but then moondae saw him vulnerable and went "must protecc" and bro isn't getting out of the mama bear protection circle until another few hundred chapters RIP.
other than that there is chungwoo but he's got a different dynamic from them, and ahyeon too way later on but that's getting into heavy spoilers territory so i shall refrain.

Stolas, kink, and violence
This is something I've been thinking about while both having an appreciation for the nature of Stolitz's past kinky relationship and anticipating/hoping for a trend of Stolas getting more hands-on with defending himself and working alongside IMP in future seasons: I really really like that Blitz became something of a safe space for Stolas to experience pain and violence.
Like, this is a guy who's been a victim of physical abuse for a long portion of his life and who is very much feeling the impacts of that abuse on his pysche and his ability to handle conflict. Stolas clearly demonstrates on multiple occasions that he is generally uncomfortable with violent confrontation/conflict (disliking the human sacrifice/refusing to stab the cake in Apology Tour, being horrified by M&M's behavior in Sinsmas, and even the fact that he chose to intimidate the agents in Truth Seekers rather than kill them outright is a sign of this, I think). Of course, push him far enough and he will turn to violence (Andy is very punchable), but in general he has a distaste for it, particularly with respect to interpersonal relationships, that very likely stems from his trauma. So the fact that he's not only willing but excited to indulge in extreme levels of pain play with Blitz (I'll never get over fucking bear traps, my god) is very telling. Obviously, there's a whole book you could write about people processing and coping with abuse via kink that plays to elements of the abuse and I am not the person to write that book. I just wanted to take a second to really marvel at how wonderfully trusting it is of Stolas to allow that with Blitz and how amazingly Blitz must have handled it for Stolas to continually find it enjoyable. Like, as far as we know, Blitz doesn't even know about Stella's abuse - and abuse like that is a landmine-and-a-half to navigate in kink even when both partners are aware of it. So for Stolitz's kink relationship to proceed so well, when only one of them isn't in the dark about potentially triggering information - (btw Stolas, I don't blame you because I know it would've required a million different interpersonal skills that you don't have to navigate it, but it was really unsafe to not tell him at some point) -isn't just a miracle, it's a testament to how attentive of a Dom Blitz must have been (especially since Stolas absolutely gives me the vibes of the kind of sub who wants to please beyond his limits). As for what this has to do with the future, I'm very very hopeful Stolas will have a bit of a training arc, so to speak. He no longer has magic, but still very much has reasons he'll need to defend himself and as much as he enjoys the fantasy of being a damsel, I think actually being one will get old for him quickly (especially as he cares more than ever about the people who'd actually have to risk themselves to save him). Violent confrontation is something he's going to have to get relatively comfortable dealing with and participating in (and without the aid of an un-medicated mental breakdown fueling him), especially as he continues to work and associate with assassins. And who better to help him settle into that, than Blitz? The man who supported and guided him through pain and violence intimately. I could easily see a scenario where Millie is trying to teach him weapons or Moxxie is trying to instruct him on sniping and he's just viscerally uncomfortable the whole time, but the moment Blitz steps in, it eases because of that trust they've cultivated. Violence doesn't need to be flinched away from if he's facing it with Blitz. And this could easily extend to the rest of IMP as he faces more challenges with them and gains trust in them as well; likely never as much as he has with Blitz, but enough that the thought of a sparring match for fun wouldn't have him grimacing. And that's something I'd love to see. .....now as for how Blitz's own past with physical abuse and the violent nature of his life as an imp and assassin impacted his role as Stolas' Dom and shared test for extremity in the bedroom... I have no clue where to start with that one, but I know Blitz loved using those bear traps as much as Stolas did 😂😏

It's Us Who Made This Mess
Part Three, at last; the bitch that didn't allow me to have any good ideas for a week straight only to suddenly give me a burst of inspiration so strong that I managed to write this whole thing within one sitting. So if this ends up being the worst one, that's why and I apologize lmao.
Content Warnings: It's the alleyway scene, so Vere jokes about eating you. Canon-typical swearing and mentions of death. Vere has a panic attack and there is a very, very brief implication of accidental self-harm.

The streets behind the Wick were as dead as the bar was crowded. A cold breeze cut through the humid air. The further they walked, the more muffled the Wick's racket became, until the only sounds were their subtle breaths and footsteps.
He stopped at an alleyway. They were alone. Nobody would bother them, and nobody would bear witness. His shadow stretched over the cobbled street in the moonlight, practically devouring the outsider whole.
"You had questions. Ask." His breath misted in the cold air as he spoke, "Quickly. I've got a show to attend. Heavenly lutist, as I'm sure I mentioned."
He already knew for a fact that he did. He simply wanted to test them; to see if they ignored everything he said earlier or is they only ignored his warning.
They were clearly peeved by his attitude---they had been since he met them, actually. But clearly they needed information, and he was happy to provide some. Of course, it would only be vague details, but if all went according to plan, it would be enough to bait them into telling him a secret or two of their own.
He expected the outsider to ask about the Senobium. Or about him, at least. Instead, they wasted his precious time by asking about the others. As much as he disliked thinking about most them---other than Ais, that is---in general, something about the outsider's curiosity of them had him particularly irked.
Vere didn't want to look too closely into why their interest in the others pissed him off so much. He just told himself that it was because he was in a hurry, and they were wasting his time.
It didn't take long for him to grow bored of it, letting out a growl. "Don't you dare ask me about another soul. I haven't got all night for idle gossip."
"But I wasn't finished asking---"
"You get two more questions. Make them count."
He wasn't actually planning on counting any questions. The poor thing just happened to look somewhat cute when their brows scrunched up in frustration.
Their eyes narrowed slightly, exasperated, as they asked their first question "Leander told me that the Senobium imprisons people. Did he mean you?"
Of course, he gets stuck talking about Leander anyway. "Leander's a moaning fool with a throbbing victim complex. He loves to see himself as a savior, but the only difference his cronies and the Senobium's stooges are the uniforms."
A subtle wince spread over their features, showing some mild concern at his words. Fair enough, considering where they're apparently sleeping tonight---if they make it out of the alleyway alive, that is.
"You're asking who, when you should be asking why." Maybe that will be enough o a hint for them to actually ask about him directly.
"Says the asshole counting my questions." Their scowl returned to to their face.
Vere only smirked in response, and they rolled their eyes at him.
They sighed. "Fine. Why were you imprisoned?"
"For the same reason they'll disappear you given half the chance; I'm something special." He gathered up his hair, pushing it behind his back and craned his neck, inviting them to have a closer look. "See this collar?Looks unremarkable, doesn't it?"
They didn't say anything. Instead, they started reaching towards the buckle.
Wrong move.
His hand lashed out, grabbing their wrist before their hand could get too close. He could've easily snapped their bones, but he chose to be merciful, and instead only held their wrist with just enough pressure to scare them a little.
It was the second mercy he's granted them tonight. And no matter how interesting they were, he wouldn't be granting them a third chance. Really, they were lucky he was even generous enough to offer them the second.
He tutted like a scolding teacher. "Don't you know better than to touch without asking?"
"You didn't ask first, so why should I?"
He grins. "because I said so."
"That's not very fair."
A surge of anger began to slowly rise through him at that. "Fuck fairness. Life's not fair."
If life were, he wouldn't even be here, talking with the pesky little outsider. If life was fair, he wouldn't even be Eridia. Shit, Eridia probably wouldn't have even existed. If life were fair, then he wouldn't have been imprisoned by those fucking mages. If life were fair, he wouldn't have killed you that day. If life were fair, you would've died from either old age or some incurable illness, because he would've been able to protect you from an unnatural death.
He closed his eyes, silently pushing his rage to the back of his mind. He's had years to hone and sharpen it into a weapon deadlier than he was, and it wouldn't do him any good to waste it on one, insignificant human when there were plenty others more deserving of it.
"Patience… I'll tell you when and how you can touch me." He opened his eyes, staring into their startled ones, getting another view of the agony writhing within their soul. "Behave, or I'll make you bleed."
"…Is that a threat, or a promise?"
It was both, but he didn't say that out loud as he released their wrist. They began to smooth down the bandages covering their arm, glancing at him though the corner of their eye.
"Are you saying that's what'll happen to me if the Senobium finds out I'm… different? I'll be collared?"
"Doubtful. they keep me around because I'm the best at what I do."
They were looking him straight in the eye now. "And what, exactly, do you do so well?"
"Killing." His answer wasn't hesitant in the slightest. "As long as I wear this collar, I'm made to hunt the Senobium's dizzying array of enemies: Monsters, Soulless, noisy dissidents who grow overbold… I'm bound by their will until the day I die."
He liked to pretend that he was only saying that last bit for dramatic flair. He didn't like to acknowledge just how little hope he had in any chance of freedom.
"That's… awful."
Hah. They have no idea.
"It is, isn't it?" He internally shook off his brooding mood, "And that's all you're getting from me. I really must leave now. I'll be late."
"That's it? Why'd you bring me out here if you weren't going to explain anything?!"
He laughed, allowing it to sound a bit more like his genuine laughter as opposed to the smooth chuckle he's been practicing over the years. "Isn't it obvious? I wanted to lure you out here alone so I could eat you."
They tensed up immediately. "You're lying again."
They were only half-right. Less than that, really. There's been a pit of hunger that's been growing within him since he was captured, and flesh was usually one of the best ways to sate it, even temporarily.
"And you're asking far too many questions for hiding so much."
They quickly hid their hands deep into the pockets of their cloak. "What makes you think I'm hiding anything?"
"Would you like me to list the obvious indicators first?" He asked sarcastically, staring pointedly at their arms, "The bandages, to be specific. Not exactly subtle, after all." He glanced back up at their eyes, "I'll be going… unless you're willing to share some morsels with me?"
As much as he talked about wanting to be elsewhere, he really wasn't actually planning on leaving until he got something out of them.
They hesitated. "I can't tell you anything."
He felt his ears flatten on his head. For fuck's sake. "Wrong. You can start with what you are."
They step backwards, trying to get away from them, bumping into the wall behind them. Vere moves forward in lockstep. They try to turn, but instead of a way out, they only find his arm, trapping them against the wall.
Finally, they were right where he wanted them.
He reached for them, lifting their chin and forcing them to meet his eyes.
"Would you believe me if I said the eyes are the windows to the soul?" Their eyelid twitched, and he smiled, "Cliche, I know, but let me tell you a little secret..."
He leaned in, close enough for his eyelashes to flutter against their cheek.
"There's nothing you can hide from me."
He was staring straight into their eyes now. Straight into them. Straight into the sweet, agonizing suffering that wrapped around their soul the way a ribbon wrapped around a box of chocolates.
"The betrayal, the loss of hope, the sheer desperation that drives you still to search and search to no end…"
All that from which he listed only came from the more recent suffering they've endured. It was almost like a thick shield, hiding both the true nature of their soul and the strange, seemingly ancient suffering that seemed to be latched deeper in.
"I could give you something new to live for…"
It was a dangerous promise, but it wasn't like they could do anything to force him into keeping it.
They swallowed, skeptical and afraid. He didn't mind their lack of response; it only allowed him to focus on looking deeper.
The ancient strand of suffering was particularly enticing; like nothing he's ever seen before. He could practically feel it trying to pull him closer.
"All that suffering has made your soul so irresistible…"
He searched deeper through the wall of suffering, just trying to catch a better glance at what was being hidden behind all the betrayal.
Then, at last---
A chain clinking as he was escorted through the dim, dank hallway.
A door hinge creaked as a cell was opened, revealing a familiar figure chained to the far wall.
An order to kill.
The sounds of screaming and bones snapping and flesh ripping.
The sound of someone's last breaths
---he had his answer.
He was wrong. This strange, ancient suffering; ancient betrayal… he had seen it before.
He saw it in your eyes as you died in a puddle of your own blood that day.
His blood froze. His heart started to speed up. The fur on his tail began to stick up.
No. No, no. Nonononono---
"Y-You're late… the l-lutist!"
Their---your---panicked little reminder was enough for him to snap out of it.
He blinked, desperately attempting to recompose himself before you noticed anything was off. "Shame."
He let go of your chin and backed away. You slumped against the wall, now gasping for air.
He could only hope he didn't look the same way; frightened, like a rabbit caught in a hunter's snare.
He wracked his brain, trying desperately to find something to say or do that wouldn't give him or any of his emotions away; then he heard Leander' voice, calling out your name, echoing through the empty streets.
Once he noticed that it grabbed your attention, he quietly made his way to the shadowy back end of the alleyway, disappearing into the dark before you could even blink.
-=-=-=-=-=-
He didn't have to run for too long; he knew the city well enough to find somewhere both decently distanced from the alleyway and hidden enough for it to be unlikely for someone to stumble on.
He found himself behind a bakery, trembling; his heart pounding so loud he was almost afraid that the stray cat sleeping in the gutters above him was able to hear it. Chills raced through his blood. His chest heaved from lack of air, but his lungs refused to let any more in. He felt dizzy, and had to slump down to the muddy ground in order to avoid falling over.
He hated this feeling. He could only recall feeling it twice: the first being after he killed you, and the second being when a century had passed without there being even half of a solid chance of real freedom.
Even though he didn't get the feeling often, he still hated it. The fear. The loss of control. The weakness…
He needed to get his shit together. Preferably before his claws accidentally dug deep enough into his arms and drew blood again, since it was too late to stop before he could feel the tears forming.
But no matter how he tried to aim his thoughts into a different direction, they always circled back to you.
You're here.
You're not supposed to be here.
You're here.
You're not supposed to see him like this.
You're here.
You can't be here.
You're here.
You need to get away, they're going to take you again.
You're here.
You need to get away, they're going to make him kill you again.
A trembling, almost manic laughter burst through his gritted teeth, accompanied by breathless sobs.
In the beginning, he wanted nothing more than to see you again. But as time passed, he was happier that he hadn't been able to see you; that you couldn't see him in the state he was in. Nothing more than a particularly exotic and useful pet for some bastards who were too afraid of getting their own hands dirty.
He never did manage to figure out why it was you they ordered him to kill that day; if it was mere coincidence, or if it was intentional.
And if it was intentional, did they already know you were here? Were they already planning to grab you?
He growled involuntarily at the thought; both at the image of them keeping you locked in a cage for them to do as they pleased, and at the fact that he would be powerless to stop it.
And the worst part of it all? For whatever reason, you were apparently planning of walking right into their cruel, merciless hands; desperately searching for something that, apparently, nobody else in this damned city would be able to provide.
Amongst the chaos whirling through his head, he tried to find a solution to your being here:
He could ignore you completely, but somehow he felt like that wouldn't work.
He could try to free himself again, take revenge, and try to fix what he had done to you; heal that betrayal-inflicted wound that he apparently dealt so deep that it still stuck to your soul well over a century and who-knows how many lives later.
He could try to free himself again, take revenge, and then leave you, so that he'd never have to risk hurting you again, and you wouldn't make him weak again.
Or, he could try to free himself again, take revenge, and then devour your soul so that you'd never get to live another life ever again. It would be cruel, sure, and it would probably hurt, too. But somehow, it might just be the most merciful option for both of you…
He focused on these ideas until, finally, he felt his heart stop hammering and his lungs start to take in the appropriate amount of air. He was no longer trembling, though he felt his nerves vibrating as he made himself stand.
He felt restless and his head hurt. He needed to tear into something---into someone---before he made his way back to his dungeon for the night.
He was irritated by the mud clinging to his clothes, hist tail, his hand, and now his face as he wiped the tears from his eyes. But he couldn't bring himself to care about that.
The only thing he could care about right then was his potential plans.
He had no idea what he should do. But he swore to himself that he'd make his choice by tomorrow morning.
For now, it was the best he could do.

I've scrolled through your posts (maybe creepy but who cares im lovin em). Loved your posts about the Al Ghuls!
And I'm wondering what you think about the Dick/Talia beef? I personally find it hilarious that Dick has beef with the one who gave birth to Damian, one of the people he loves and cherishes very much
Hi anon, thank you for the compliment!
Anyhow, regarding your question, I don't think that Dick's hostility towards Talia doesn't revolve around Damian— not at first, at least. Of course, the hate could've been amplified when Damian came to light, though until then it was pretty tame in comparison. Or not, I don't know which would be funnier.
Also, I'm going to direct you to @rasalghul777 , again, because I believe that they're more adverse in this than I am when it comes to the complex relationship between Talia and pretty much all other characters, stressing on Brutalia. However, since this is in regards to my opinion, I'll try to put things into perspective. So take this with a grain of salt.
Anyhow, Dick has shown to dislike Talia early on. This is because, considering that she's an antagonist (her father is among Barman's Rogues' Gallery, if I'm not mistaken, as he was one of the main villains) Dick sees that she's a bad influence to Bruce— since this man was madly in love with Talia at the time to the point it's unhealthy for him (one of the main reason why Talia faked her miscarriage and gave Damian away in the original run of his appearance), and vice versa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(BruTalia my beloved, BruTalia my Roman empire)
So much, in fact, that Bruce did not hesitate when it comes to choosing between her and his own ward, that being Dick at the time.
Tumblr media
While I could be wrong, this is the context that I've gathered from this panel 🤷🤷 though I honestly doubt so.
It could also be read as the "Children not wanting to trust their parents' spouse" type of thing, which is hilarious on its' own accord.
It also doesn't help that they have fundamental disagreement from the get-go— their clashed beliefs makes it difficult for them to meet eye-to-eye.
Dick doesn't owe Talia anything, similar to how Talia doesn't owe Dick anything; he doesn't have to try to understand her, nor does she have to prove anything to him. He's entitled to hate her just as she's entitled to hate him. That hate was very much mutual between them.
(Which, when you think about it, is the same exact argument people brought up when justifying Tim's hostility towards Damian. But I don't want to go too off tangent, so that's a conversation for another day.)
However, when Damian came along, you could imagine that Dick's hatred towards Talia would be amplified ten-fold— while it's possible that he doesn't necessarily see Talia as a stereotypical bad mother (mostly for Damian's sake, and the boy insisted that she wasn't) it was difficult for him to see her as an actual decent one too.
I feel like Dick would be more inclined to blame Talia more on Damian's upbringing; even though it was (heavily, sorta) implied that Talia herself wasn't allowed to see Damian, let alone raise him back in the League.
It's worth mentioning that Dick isn't an all-knowing being. He couldn't've known, and having an actual conversation with Damian regarding his upbringing is a delicate process in itself, but he does recognize Talia as a parental figure in Damian's life and would, therefore, instinctively blame her for the majority of Damian's issues.
Though Dick eventually learns to distribute the hate equally on both parents 🤷🤷🤷 I found that to be more comical compared to a one-sided hate.
Dick: I hate both of you, I really do. You both belong together, because then the world would have to worry about two less horrible people.
Dick: But thank you for the child. I love him. He's mine now.
Bruce and Talia: ?????????
However, when push comes to shove, Dick would still (albeit begrudgingly) team up with Talia. Funnily enough, I always see it that Dick would rather side with Talia more than he would Bruce— because fuck if she doesn't have an actual reason to have a complicated relationship with Damian. Bruce has raised, like, 5 kids and couldn't figure out his teenage son? A 14 year old boy with crippling anxiety??? Get outta here.
All in all, I think both Dick and Talia would have that one relationship like two bitter grandma's who hated each other, but would still attend to the same tea party within punching distance if their beloved grandchild asked.
At least Talia would only suffer from glares. Dick would actually tackle Bruce.

I think the reason Eddie was cool with Tommy but suddenly dropped him after he starts dating Buck isn't because he dislikes Tommy or even jealous. Because jealousy usually comes from a place of insecurity, and I don't think Eddie would doubt the foundation of that relationship.
For all of Buck's partners, I think it just comes from the fact that Eddie thinks that no one deserves Buck but especially these people because they don't even know how to treat him the way he deserves and that's why he is unsurprised and supportive when he gets broken up with.
Like in s2x01, Eddie doesn't know Buck, but he hears how Abby dumped him and he's still in denial living in her apartment. He throws it in Buck's face when Buck and he clash. But in the train derailment episode? Eddie does not like her at all, as is well established. Season 2 Eddie had been there for the immediate aftermath but Season 3 calls Buck his best friend and loves him with with whole heart.
The only time we see him actively jealous though is with Taylor Kelly which 1) he is a private person who doesn't like cameras 2) he is allowed to be jealous of her being Buck's friend 3) he is protective of the 118. When Buck and Taylor do start dating, it moves from jealousy to you're not good enough for Buck and I won't let you hurt him.
That's why I think Eddie's reaction at Buck saying Natalia 'sees him' is confusion because Eddie's the one filling in the gaps. Oh Buck goes to the zoo with Chris a lot, The whole hospital convo with Tommy, Buck, and Eddie where Eddie completes Buck's sentences. Buck memorized fun facts about disasters. And so he rightfully doubts Buck could meet someone who can match Eddie in that regard (except Maddie).

Can i ask for dmc boys + sephiroth with a cat personality gn!reader, literally in every way?
( /•-• )/ [✨i love your writings✨]
Yes, sure! Thanks so much!
Sparda boys, V, and Sephiroth x Catlike!Reader headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-Dante is pretty much a lazy cat himself, so you guys can chill together.
-If you're the mischievous type, Dante will certainly assist you in some crime--good natured crime, of course.
-Will nap with you on the couch or bed; he'll be stretched out like a starfish and you'll be curled into a ball near his side.
-Understands you can get clingy and anxious when he's not around, so he spends nearly all his free time with you.
-Knows you love your head scratched and will definitely give you some good scritchy scratchies when you guys are relaxing together.
-If you happen to be an outgoing, cheerful person who likes to explore, you could be considered Dante's soul mate. He takes you everywhere, literally everywhere, and has millions of pictures of the two of you at various places together.
■ Vergil ■
-Vergil loves that you're so cat-like because you make a great reading companion.
-You're content to just sit in his lap and sleep, allowing him to use your body as an armrest, bookrest, or whatever.
-Finds himself sharing large glasses of warm milk with you every night before bed. He doesn't even like warm milk, he just likes doing things with you.
-You're very quiet and sleepy nearly all the time, rather like he is, making you the perfect one for him.
-He says he finds your clinginess annoying, but deep down, he appreciates the attention.
-Uses you as a stuffed animal when you are cuddling together. He will latch onto you so tightly, you lose circulation in some places, but it makes him happy, so you don't mind.
□ Nero □
-Nero loves how much of a troublemaker you are. Yeah, it's annoying, having to pick you up from various locations after you get kicked out of them, but it's endearing all the same.
-Will go absolutely anywhere with you; he loves it, it's fun.
-Likes to stay home and chill with you as well. Napping with you all curled up in his lap is pure and utter bliss.
-You hiss at things or people that upset you and Nero thinks it's the cutest thing ever.
-For some reason Nero can't understand, you dislike being sprayed with water so badly, you'll scream and hit, having a full on temper tantrum for hours. This doesn't seem to apply to showering, though.
-Despite your quirks, Nero still loves you, to such a degree, he lets you eat any birds or rodents you're skilled enough to catch.
● V ●
-V already has a cat, but that's okay because you're not a cat, you're like a cat.
-He now has another person to join his cuddle pile of familiars. Honestly, at this point, it's getting suffocating.
-This doesn't compare to when you guys are snuggling together, where you will, for whatever reason, leap onto his stomach and curl up there, crushing all his internal organs in the process.
-Enjoys relaxing with you, especially if you're lounging in his lap and he's reading his poetry.
-Will go on adventures with you if you want him to, usually bringing a very old Nikon camera (cause he doesn't have a phone) to take pictures.
-If you happen to get into trouble for whatever reason, V won't be mad, but he certainly won't be happy with you either.
-He can't comprehend why you enjoy chasing mice around, but he lets you. Shadow eventually joins in and you two have a feline competition to see who can catch the most vermin. While it's rather eccentric behavior, at least your house is pest free.
♡ Sephiroth ♡
-Though he would rather shave his head than admit it, Sephiroth finds it adorable that you have the personality of a cat since he has the looks of a cat.
-Gives you lots of scratches and massages because he knows you love them.
-Your fascination with warm milk has spread to him somehow and now that's all he ever drinks.
-Calls you his darling kitten and sometimes makes soft, barely audiable purring noises when you two are cuddling. They're rare, though, so keep an ear out.
-Is filled with an unexplainable sense of pride whenever he watches you catch rats and mice. There goes his lovely kitten, ripping up rodents again. So proud.
-One thing he does not tolerate is a troublemaker, and will not hesitate to give you a good talking to if you misbehave or do something stupid.

Serious question based on an observation:
Why do people like Amanda so much but not Gavin, despite both of them being purposely dislikeable characters?
Gavin is supposed to represent racism. I get that, but he isn't really shown to be an inherently terrible person outside of hating androids.
Amanda, from what I've gathered, is supposed to represent everything we hate about big corporations, and what our future could possibly look like if they continue to grow and become more powerful.
From all the fan art I see of her, they mostly just admire her as a black woman, which is perfectly fine imo. But I see so much praise towards her with no one really talking about what she represents. I just see "wow, beautiful black woman" which, again, is fine.
Gavin, on the other hand, gets tons of hate. I completely understand why. He's a white cop who's ugly side is brought out by androids. He obviously has some serious personal issues and directly represents oppression based on ignorance and intolerance. I understand why people are so quick to rag on him.
However, we're not given much about him beyond what we see on the surface. Hank could be looked at in the same light if we weren't given an opportunity to see directly into his life, allowing us to better understand him and, therefore, sympathize with him. Would people treat Hank the same as Gavin if his storyline was cut? Would Gavin be treated differently if he was given a storyline similar to Hank's?
The community has done a pretty good job at giving Gavin a "redemption arch" which makes him more personable and realistic. I've been observing both sides of why people love him (more specifically, the fandom's version of him) and why people hate him.
I personally think both sides are valid. However, I also believe a character can change over time if given an opportunity. We don't see that opportunity in the game so, naturally, people made one up. I think that's great. A character with potential being explored. But there's still an entire group of DBH fans that will go out of their way to harass people who do give Gavin a chance, and it doesn't seem fair. Most people who do like Gavin, like the fandom version of him. Very rarely do I see people praising his canon character. (Again, everything we see is very surface level.)
The argument I see the most is that he represents racism, which again, couldn't you say the same about Hank? There's no other argument (that I've personally seen) outside of that. But if you completely take away the android element of the game, that argument completely falls apart, because we don't see any other behaviors that suggests he's a flat out racist person. Then again, we don't see much. And that's the point I'm trying to make. We simply don't know enough about him to completely define his character or why he acts the way that he does. I'm not really trying to make an argument for or against him specifically, it's just something I've noticed in the fandom overall. We get entire back stories for characters based on little to no information, and everyone is divided. But when there's a defined character like Amanda, all that is ignored because she's a black character, it seems.
I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this; I guess I'm just looking for another perspective maybe? To me, there seems to be racial undertones that I don't see many people talking about. I've seen some discussions on Markus arguing weather or not he's a hero or the bad guy. Or some racial implications that don't really make sense within the context of the game or character.
The point of the game is that it directly implies racial elements, no arguments there, but the way people seem to completely miss the point and twist it into something completely different is disappointing. It's part of the reason I'm even writing this. I don't mean to rant but there seems to be an imbalance of fans putting certain characters on a pedistool based on the wrong reasons, skin color being one of those reasons.
Of course, I could be looking into this way too hard, but the amount of Amanda fan art has me a little confused. Maybe I'm the one that's missing something lol. Either way, I'm just wondering what other people think. Sorry for the long post.

omg girl what is happening with nicholas right now ?? i’ve heard so much about NDAs and whatnot and i have no idea where to start to unpack this 😭
first off, check out this post from @cranberrydietcoke since we've had a real long convo here about this whole situation.
now, babe...where do i start...
there's this bald guy on tiktok (i won't tell you the username because i have him blocked — he's just so annoying) that started a whole nicholas hate train. apparently, a lot of girls have been reaching out to him saying nicholas was texting them in november/this month (there is no proof whatsoever — just screenshots with no dates that can easily be manipulated or can be from any time tbh).
this one girl, i think julia was her name, has started posting tiktoks related to nicholas — tbh her whole personality is that he has been "allegedly" texting her. she said that nicholas has been talking about victoria, but for "legal reasons" she doesn't want to show screenshots. so basically she just started a whole god damn hate train to back off when she got too much attention — sorry shawty, that's NOT how it works.
the bald tiktok guy has made a million tiktok's about nicholas. to me? he's literally obsessed. he has been talking about him non stop, saying there's been a lot of girls reaching out and that he has a lot of "proof" of nac cheating on victoria, but he doesn't want to talk about his sources. so there's basically no proof — only the screenshots, that, as i mentioned, could so easily be manipulated.
also, when it comes to that bald guy — i heard that he was a nicholas fan a month ago or so, i don't know if that's true tho.
julia has claimed that nicholas wanted to fly her out to usa so that they could be together. which doesn't really make any sense, but anyway. 🤫
also there's been speculations going around that nicholas made victoria sign an NDA so that she can't talk about their relationship or him now or if they break up. victoria and her friends then started replying to comments on twitter saying that none of this is true. her annoyance is so valid because why do random people online get their noses in THEIR relationship?
nicholas is rich, famous and hot so if he didn't want vicky here — she WOULDN'T BE HERE. people need to start using their brains, simple as that. everyone tries to paint him as a bad guy for some weird reason.
nicholas' team needs to walk in because this whole thing isn't making his reputation any better 😭
also a reminder that nicholas' relationship is none of our business even though we are allowed to dislike his gf.

... right so who wants to hear my deranged theory about Yuri Tokyo Debunker with no evidence backing it up I believe only as a joke.
The mutual mommy issues and classical music interest made me think that Yuri and Jin could be related. A lot of Yuri's... yuri-ness screams second child syndrome, I couldn't find where or if it was even said but Yuri seems to indicate he was raised to be a doctor. We know Jin's dad is the head of the entire institute, the institute also has a medical branch. Based on what we know about Jin's dad he seems like the old school political dynasty sort, if he had two sons raising one to take over the Institute and the other to oversee its medical branch makes a lot of sense. It would also make sense for Yuri, as the baby of the family, to maybe be closer to their mother than Jin was. If Jin was expected to take over for their father, it makes sense for his dad to monopolize his time and not allow him to spend as much of it with his mom. Yuri could have spent almost all of his time with her, and if Mama Kamurai was particularly sickly (or cursed) Yuri's interest in becoming a doctor becomes extremely significant. It is clear both Yuri and Jin love their mothers, whoever they are, but if she was the same woman their hatred for each other can be explained by a sibling rivalry. Jin resenting Yuri for being mommy's "favorite" and h Yuri hates that Jin is daddy's favorite and gets all the money to do whatever he wants with while he's stuck writing expense reports for his vital research. Jin could even be blaming Yuri for being unable to save their mom, it certainly seems like Yuri is blaming himself already.
If this was the case, I think whatever injury Jin has sustained probably was the breaking point between the two. Yuri probably doesn't want to lose his brother, he seems like the sort who would really desperately want big brother's approval. If Jin turned his help away in disgust then of course that would nuke the relationship between the two dorms. If Yuri really was just Jin's younger brother (oh how phrasing it like that would irritate him) then of course everyone else would see his behavior as a temper tantrum and not a concern. He's just mad daddy doesn't love him, give it a rest. Yuri will get over this soon enough, he's a grown adult... right?
This would also mean that Yuri didn't need to ever have been placed in Frostheim. He always could have been in Mortranken, he just associated with Frostheim because he is the younger brother of the King. And why he hates Darkwick General so much and is so insistent on doing his own thing: he wants to prove he is more than his family name. That he can cure people, that he isn't his father's puppet. This would probably further drive the wedge between him and Jin, that's something Jin wants to do himself but can't on account of being the oldest son. He sees his little brother as privileged in the same way his little brother thinks he is.
Counter Arguments/Rebuttals:
They do not look much alike. Zenji and Jiro + Hyde and Sho do, so the game making them look different is my biggest reason I think this could be wrong. They don't need to be related for their dislike for each other to make sense, it would just be deeply tragic. And could potentially set up an arc where Zenji chews Jin out for being a shitty older brother, he loves Jiro so much he would die (and probably did) defending him. Why is Jin ignoring his brother? Has he no heart? (not to mention why Yuri is so attached to Jiro, little brothers need to stick together)
Different last names. I think this could be explained by Yuri using his mother's maiden name to separate himself from his family, which would further irritate Jin because how fucking dare he use their mom's name like that?
Like I said, this doesn't need to be the explanation for why Yuri and Jin hate each other. He very easily could have just been a student there and failed to help Jin through his injury. It makes just as much if not more sense. My one real reason for holding onto brother theory when that one works is that... fuck that's a lot of students transferring out of Frostheim. Almost too many to make sense if you go with Haku having originally been there too. It almost feels like it makes more sense if Yuri has always been in Mortranken... but not by much when you take into account everything else you need to believe in order for brother theory to be true.

anon who wants a summary:
the timeline:
dream published a meme which used the r slur to insult tommyinnit stans. this sparked outrage (because it's a slur).
Tumblr media
dream defended himself by explaining he was called slurs by nicholas cantu and half the internet and people said that was justified because cantu was autistic and pan, and dream himself is autistic. he as a result thought he was allowed to say the r slur. dream also deleted the tweet a few hours later.
tubbo made a stream where he analyzed dream's response and brought up his own reasons for disliking dream. tubbo's (and most of dsmp twitter's) take is that the r slur was used as an insult in this case and therefore there is no reclaiming it.*
dream responded to tubbo's stream. however, his focus was mostly on addressing the context of why he made his tweet (what he feels was a constant harassment by Tommy and his friends who've been implying terrible things, such as Dream being a pedophile, for months) and talking about some of the problems tubbo brought up. he showed a number of evidence to back some of his main points, like this DM where he asks Tommy to stop making inappropriate jokes about him:
Tumblr media
tubbo then responded to dream's stream. tubbo's main issue with it seems that Dream justified context, but didn't really go into the tweet itself.
Tommy also published a 5 mn video accusing Dream of various negative things, which basically reiterated most of tubbo's grievances. (none of them are criminal offenses or the like)
issues Tommy and Tubbo brought up:
feeling like Dream implied they owed their careers to them. There is no evidence of this. Dream has talked about a couple miscommunication/joke situations and brought up multiple times that he felt he was just shining a spotlight on people that would've made it anyways. Tubbo repeatedly said he "just doesn't believe this" and Tommy feels that in fact "[Tommy] made the DSMP."
Dream contacting Tommy's mom in 2023 following drama at the time. Tommy felt like there was a betrayal of trust and Dream apologized. I'll attach the DM, you can decide for yourself how you feel about it.
Tumblr media
A situation where in the DSMP discord someone brought up skephalo porn art and Tubbo, a minor at the time, was there. Dream brought up in his stream that he was not there. Tubbo in his second stream said "that's fair." I think this is resolved..?
Dream's circle of friends being misogynistic. There is no evidence from this from Tommy and Tubbo, apart from vibes basically (which could still mean there's a problem! but atm it seems to be just vibes).
Tubbo vaguely accused Dream and his friend George of queerbaiting? Dream didn't address this but has multiple times said they weren't dating.
I can't think of anything else but I might've missed something! And obviously I think this is all correct but it might not be because I am a #flawed human being.
I tried keeping this as short, concise, and as unbiased as I could but obviously I rambled. A LOT more was said by everybody involved, but I tried my best :(
*this point is particularly interesting, because I've seen enough discourse on both Tumblr and Twitter to feel like it's a complicated issue that people haven't clearly cut one way or another. Making this point because most of dsmp twitter agreeing with something does not necessarily make them right (but you can ofc decided by yourself).
Thank you so much Star!!!
I'm going to once again plead for everyone to watch the original streams so they have full context, but I know they're long and not everyone can or wants to do it, so I am willing to further explain and give more context to anything you don't quite understand or have doubts about :]

Hi, one more question!
I read Tomarry fan fiction with time travel, and when they write that Harry is taking Tom from the orphanage, for some reason they write that Harry expects that if he gives the love and care that he was deprived of, then Tom will become a different person. That is, Harry projects himself onto Tom and expects the same reaction from him that Harry himself would have had if he had been taken away from the Dursleys. And also, I do not understand the authors themselves believe that if you give a child (Tom) everything he wants and do not limit him at least somehow, that he will grow up to be a morally better person? Or do they think that Harry is so narrow-minded and does not understand that punishments and rewards are needed for proper upbringing? That it's not enough to just say "don't do this because it's wrong for a moral reason", but to provide a logical explanation that would be based on logic and pragmatism, which would sound clearer to Tom? What do you think about it?
Anyone could write whatever they want, and I'm not going to diss any specific fics or authors. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of Harry going back in time to raise Tom fics because it's just not to my personal taste. So, this isn't the kind of scenario I really think about for Harry's and Tom's characters.
In general, though, I think Harry understands Tom and how he thinks more than fanon often gives him credit for. I also think Tom isn't as evil incarnate as some fanon paints him as. I don't think he's super moral, but I don't think he is especially cruel either.
Like, Tom doesn't do immoral things because he doesn't know what's good and what's evil, he is an intelligent capable adult — he knows very well what he's doing is evil, he just doesn't mind doing evil if he thinks it's necessary.
And he has morals. He regrets needing to kill Snape, he dislikes unnecessary death and bloodshed and actively avoids it in the first war. He doesn't want to kill students in the battle of Hogwarts and calls a ceasefire to let them regroup and treat their injuries to the detriment of his own side. He hates cowardice and treachery. He derides Wormtail because he betrayed his friends, yes, that betrayal helped Voldemort, but Voldemort despises cowardly traitors as a rule and his morals are important to him. He hates pretentious purebloods and he shows this contempt in how he treats his followers. Tom has a moral core all on its own with his shitty upbringing, it's just, kinda messed up and he's a practicality-over-morality kind of person most of the time. I'm saying most because he doesn't allow himself to cheat when trying to kill Harry. He just has to kill Harry properly, in a fair duel, because of his own morals and ideals. I also think Tom would be insulted by the concept of cheating at school, for example.
I mentioned in the past the fact Voldemort's favorite spell is the killing curse kinda shows that he has some twisted sense of morality. I mean, in a world where you can burn and cut and torture people with magic there are so many cruel and painful ways to kill someone, and yet, Voldemort's go-to spell, when he isn't making a point or torturing someone for a specific reason, is Avada Kedavra. The Killing Curse is a painless death, even Voldemort considers it a merciful death. It's quick and painless and efficient. This is the death he gave James and Lily because he respected them and didn't want them to suffer unnecessarily. This is the death he chooses for anyone he doesn't have a specific reason to torture because he is against what he deems as unnecessary cruelty. Snape's death is the only real death that is unnecessarily cruel but I think it has more to do with JKR needing a way for Snape to get Harry the information he needs rather than be accurate to Voldemort's character as he was shown thus far.
Like, he has some weird sense of morality, and even with the evil things he does, like murder, he knows they are bad and he does so anyway. Sometimes, he does so regretfully, in the most merciful way he can, and other times, when he hates someone, he relishes in it. It's not about not understanding good and evil or not knowing what morals are, it's about caring about morals less than about whatever goal he wants to accomplish, and sometimes that goal is to humiliate the crap out of Lucius Malfoy, or to showcase how great he is and be dramatic about it. But the fact he has his twisted morals and considers himself merciful is part of what makes him so interesting to me.

seeing nightheart arguments again as with every asc release so once again, a reminder that when people say "nightheart's arc (or that of any other warrior cats character for that matter) is sexist", 99% of the time they are not calling the character, themselves, within the universe, a misogynist. nightheart in the books does not hate women. liking nightheart is not misogyny. what IS sexist there is the choices the authors make when they are writing a character. because at the end of the day, the characters themselves are not real.
in nightheart's case, at the start of his story almost every female character in his life (sparkpelt, finchlight, squirrelflight, lilyheart, myrtlebloom, etc) was written as being needlessly cruel to him, in spite of their own characters, and the male characters in his life (bramblestar, alderheart, bayshine) were written as far kinder or more reasonable towards him. the issue was not the FACT people were being mean to him, but the blatant trend and malicious gendered stereotypes going on with how it was handled.
"but they've been redeemed by Thunder! they're all being nicer to him now!" yeah, but isn't it super fucking weird that it was written like that in the first place? that finchlight changed personality like the weather when she should have been a prominent enough character to have an established one, that sparkpelt needs to redeem herself for absences in squirrelflight's hope and tbc that were unfairly out of her control and were not even considered an issue until now it's convienent to make her son sad, that squirrelflight was treated as antagonistic and cruel over asking her adult grandson to do some chores or whatever?
"but that's the author's fault, not the character's!" the character is not real though. he doesn't have feelings that can be hurt, what is there are the words on the page, and a lot of people will look at a character's arc rather than imagining them as a real person or making up headcanons to fill in gaps. there is also nothing wrong with people disliking a character you like. that is always going to happen forever.
"so are you saying i'm sexist because i like or relate to nightheart?" no, nobody is saying this. nightheart is an insecure angsty young adult protagonist in a tonally silly book series who has a complicated relationship with his family and gets into relationship drama, of course a bunch of people are going to latch on to him, and there's nothing wrong with that. i know a ton of nightheart fans. people criticising him is not a personal attack on you or anyone.
"you're looking into this too deeply" man this is warrior cats tumblr, what are any of us doing here. sometimes engaging critically with a text is fun. sometimes, texts have genuine flaws and harmful biases within their writing and it's useful to learn to identify and analyse them. warrior cats is not and never will be peak literature and i don't think anybody expects it to be but that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to take critical approaches to it on anything more than a surface level.
