The existence of Zangoose and Seviper as version-exclusive or near-exclusive Pokemon implies that their actions, and therefore the status of their rivalry, can be affected by the actions of Legendary Pokemon on the opposite end of the region.

Serena and Calem with a reader who has a bad case of Poképhobia (Fear of pokemon)
(Pokemon X/Y) Serena and Calem with a Reader who is afraid of Pokemon
I was about to say why would anyone be afraid of Pokemon, but then I remembered that Drifloons steal children and drag them to hell, so ya know what? I'd be scared too.
Honestly, Serena has always been surrounded by Pokémon throughout her entire life. Not to mention how integral they were to everyday life as well.
The thought never even crossed her mind if someone would be afraid of them.
Until she met (Y/N).
Being a trainer herself, Serena felt like that she needed to show them that Pokémon were nothing to fear, and that they could be steadfast friends!
Which led to Serena and (Y/N) standing in a park, with her confidently crossing her arms.
(Serena) "Okay, we can start off small! How about...a Weedle?"
(Y/N) "I-Is it big?! Or scary?!"
(Serena) "The opposite! They're super small and cute! Here, let's bring him out right now!-"
Serena grabbed the Pokéball on her belt and with a click, let the small bug Pokémon pop out into the world.
The Weedle looked around before turning its gaze to (Y/N), causing them to hide behind Serena.
(Y/N) "I-IT'S LOOKING AT ME!"
(Serena) "Well, yeah! He's curious! Here, grab my hand for a sec-"
Though she said that, she grabs (Y/N)'s instead and sits down on the grass, motioning for the Weedle to come closer, making (Y/N) squirm uncomfortably.
And which the Weedle simply wiggled its way closer, the barb on its head shifting closer to (Y/N), though showed no signs of hostility.
Serena chuckled and gently rubbed (Y/N)'s shoulder, a hand motioning outward to the Weedle.
(Serena) "See? Little guy couldn't hurt a-"
Before she was promptly interrupted, hand moving to pet the Pokémon by pure instinct and getting poked by the barb.
(Serena) "GAH! OWOWOW!-"
Causing both of them to stand up straight, Serena out of pain and (Y/N) out of terror.
Pokédex entry: Often found in forests and grasslands. It has a sharp, toxic barb of around two inches on top of its head.
And the attempt to calm (Y/N) down was not helping when her hand was starting to become as pink as the Weedle's nose.
Calem honestly was at a loss for words.
How do you survive this long without getting over your fear of Pokémon?
Whatever, that wasn't important.
What was important was that his friend needed help getting over this fear.
And so, he brought them to a nearby street bench to show (Y/N) that Pokémon weren't all that bad.
And Calem's first choice?
(Calem) "How about...Ah, got it! Plusle!"
(Y/N) "P-Plusle?"
(Calem) "They're these cute little mouse Pokémon! Totally harmless!"
With a swift flick of his wrist, Calem grabbed a Pokéball and it beamed out the Plusle, which bounced around energetically at the sight of her trainer.
While (Y/N) was scared stiff, unable to move when the Plusle stared at them, then looked back to Calem in confusion.
(Calem) "Hey, little buddy! Need ya to show my friend here some of your cheer!"
The Plusle nodded before energetically crying out, bouncing around in a slight rhythm as (Y/N) seemed to calm down somewhat.
(Calem) "See, it's like I said! They're nothing to be-"
Before a nearby telephone pole short circuited as sparks flew out of the Plusle, a small beam of electricity shooting out as the cheering became more hyper.
Prompting (Y/N) to leap in terror, the Plusle mistaking that as a signal to keep dancing!
(Calem) "...Oh crap."
Pokédex entry: It cheers on friends with pom-poms made of sparks. It drains power from telephone poles.

Man do you ever just think about how.... hardenshipping was ALWAYS going to be the natural conclusion of the game from the moment they sat down and decided that the gimmick of the region was going to have two warring teams.
Like hardenshipping has some sort of pre-baked, innate canonicity with the way that Pokemon games always resolve themselves. Especially as it pertains to the way the Hoenn region was designed.
What I mean by this is,
In Pokemon, the lesson is always "working together makes us stronger." It is always about the power of friendship, it is always about found families, it is always about settling differences with love etc etc etc. Except. This is on STEROIDS in the Hoenn region because this is a theme and a message that was deliberately sought out when they designed the game.
The Hoenn region is a region of duality. It is all about opposites and counterbalance. The names of the cities are mostly two words put together as opposed to color names in the past. Team Aqua and Team Magma. Groudon and Kyogre. Plusle and Minun. Latios and Latias. Solrock and Lunatone. Zangoose and Seviper. Volbeat and Illumise. How Wurmple can evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon. How Clamperl can evolve into either Huntail or Gorebyss, making both of those sets of Pokemon counterparts to one another.
The REGION itself is split almost evenly in physical makeup between land and water. Which is what made it seem like there was a shit ton of water because there was. There has never been as much water in a Pokemon game as there was in Hoenn, and it was because they were physically trying to balance the water and the land. There's a giant uninhabitable volcano in the center of the region perfectly counterbalanced on the map by a giant, habitable crater in the center of the ocean. Complements and counterparts color the entire region, often quite literally in red and blue. Like almost anywhere you look in Hoenn, it is ideologically (and sometimes physically) symmetrical in design.
The name of the region comes from love and relationships, for god's sake.
And so then you have the Hoenn region, named after a word that literally means love and relationships, being themed around this very concept, in a game series that ALREADY focuses on those things. As like. The core component of the franchise.
So the Hoenn region has "the power of love and friendship" on fucking STEROIDS.
And they DOUBLE and TRIPLE down on this metaphor that they already did not need to double and triple down on in the remakes with the inclusion of the "Hoenn Rangers Coexistence Force," whose sole existence seems only to be to call out Archie and Maxie specifically, as they are about promoting the peaceful coexistence of people, nature, and pokemon. Blatant passive-aggressive reference to Archie and Maxie, who are locked in some sort of odd, eco-ideological warfare with each other playing out over the large-scale arena of the entire fucking region.
And the fact that they canon used to be on a team together and clearly split due to their differences (you know. Like how a lot of these region's Pokemon have split evolutions and counterparts etc etc etc).
The Hoenn region is rife with all this fucking duality.
And so, naturally, the Pokemon plot does what Pokemon plots do, and uses like a 12 year old child to tell our bad guys that the power of love and friendship is actually all they need.
And for the most part, in most games, that would be where it would end. The villain and the evil team fades off into obscurity, after they learned their lesson.
Except, Archie and Maxie don't have that option. Because they have each other.
Team Rocket, while still technically present, disappears from the game after you beat them. Cyrus disappears. Ghetsis disappears. Colress just fucking hangs out with you, kind of. Lysander disappears. Lusamine disappears. I don't fucking know what Rose does but god in hell I'm sure he doesn't contribute anything meaningful. Turo and Sada go off to a different fucking reality altogether.
All of the other villains disappear because they have learned their lesson. What are they going to do? Be besties with the player in the post game? Colress is the only one who gets remotely close to this, and he's locked on a little ship in one area once you beat the game. These individual leaders rightfully learn their lesson, rightfully go off on their own to reflect and grow or go to prison or die, and we just assume that because we beat them, that's the end. There is nothing more for them to resolve, because they have resolved their conflict with us.
But not Archie and Maxie. Because Archie and Maxie's main point of conflict was not with you. It was with each other.
ALL of the other villains have NO ONE to amend with once you finish the main line story of the game, because they have already ended the conflict with you. Therefore, in all other iterations of them that exist (for example, in Masters) they can just be "Ho ho ho I am GenericEvilTeamLeader" who did a bad thing.
But not Archie and Maxie. Because Archie and Maxie were depicted having their main conflict with each other, and not you, any piece of media that wishes to depict them post-events of their games (aka, post their lessons-learned) MUST depict them together. In order to demonstrate that they have taken this lesson about the "true power of friendship" to heart, we must see them putting that into practice.
And due to the nature of Hoenn being about coexistence, natural complements, and duality, Archie and Maxie must then conclude to work together and harmonize with one another just as their opposing elements do, just as the entire rest of their fucking region does. They are the living embodiments of the inner conflict, the duality and complement and turmoil and harmony that the entire region of Hoenn was built upon.
And THIS is why, to this day, in the year of our good Groudon 2023, we are STILL getting new content of them being so close to one another. Why Pokemon Masters has just basically become Hardenshipping Truthers DLC. Because now, in order to demonstrate that Archie and Maxie have taken some semblance of their lesson to heart, they must be depicted working together. As they were always created to do.
Archie and Maxie were created to be at war with one another, but this was because they were also created to learn the lesson that they must work with one another, because that is the lesson of Hoenn, and that is the lesson of Pokemon as a whole.
So from the very moment the devs sat down and said "we are going to make two warring teams," Archie and Maxie's destinies were invariably linked together, and basically hardenshipping content was always going to be the natural conclusion of that.
They really invented gay people with this one. I just..,,
*slaps Hoenn region* this bad boy can fit so much fucking symbolism in it

You know where to find me…
and I know where to look.
dichotomy/opposites, OR a character associated with magic
Plusle and Minun are both The Cheering Pokémon, but they’re also associated with the two poles and + and - like batteries and positive and negative charges, which makes them opposites, too!
for @blueberrybunic’s event!
#blueberrybunic100#banners#headers#plusle#these are all made from card art#feel free to ask for the card artist or full card if you want to see them :)#I gave them pink and blue overlays#which I could’ve gone with red like plusle naturally is but I really like that song so I had to go for the trend with it#minun

✧ two make a team
01. you ruin my peaceful evening
✧ scaramouche x gn!reader pokémon au series
✧ summary: you've hated each other for as long as you can remember, and you want nothing to do with the male you despise so much. but then you suddenly have to work together to achieve the goal you both chase. can you put the rivalry aside and make it happen? or will the hatred you share get the best of you?

The sun slowly made its way lower and lower down the darkening sky, about to descend beyond the horizon. Tall grass swayed back and forth, rustled gently by the soft breeze that blew over the lush greenfields kissed by the setting sun. Blue hour made its approach, the sky painted in various shades of the prettiest blues and the loveliest purples. A flock of Starly darted around happily, performing their last round through the twilight sky before they would go to sleep on the branches of nearby trees.
A quick glance at your watch informed you that it was around nine pm, and you knew it would turn completely dark soon. But you weren’t planning to go back already; summer nights were your favorite moments to spend outside, with the sultry breeze and the soft warmth that cascaded around you ever so gently, and the pokémon that were still so lively even at this hour. You were often found in the wildlands that surrounded Hearthome City, simply to have some time alone and wind down after a day accompanied by your pokémon.
With your back resting against the bark of a sturdy honey tree, you released a deep sigh. Your pokémon were still energized as if it wasn’t far into the evening, frisky as ever as they darted through the tall grass around you. Sylveon, Plusle and Lycanroc were playing a game that looked a lot like tag, while Rowlet and Pachirisu seemed to be looking for something as they scurried through the strands of lush green. Only Lucario was next to you, observing the rest of your team as they were frolicking around. Everything was so peaceful, the happy sounds of your pokémon, the soft breeze that pulled through the greenfields, and the last rays of sunshine kissing the Earth ever so gently.
Everything was peaceful, except for the guy shouting in the distance.
That guy was Kunikuzushi.
If it would’ve been just a random person training their pokémon, it wouldn’t have bothered you. A lot of people shared the same passion, that of becoming a pokémon master, so there was no reason to get annoyed by others doing the same thing as you loved. But Kunikuzushi wasn’t just someone.
He had the honor of being the only person you really couldn’t stand. Just having him near you was enough to put you off, and it had been like that for as long as you could remember. Your mothers had been friends since forever, and of course they hoped for their children to get along just as well. It was the opposite that happened, though; as soon as the two of you had been old enough to engage in proper interactions, a rivalry had settled between you.
It was a hate-at-first-sight thing that started off small and grew as you got older. In the beginning it was petty; he would steal your cookie and you’d trip him, you’d chase away the wild pokémon the other was trying to catch, he’d stick out his tongue at you and you would throw pecha berries at him as he ran away. Childish but fairly innocent and insignificant. Maybe people hoped that it would go away with the years, but it only became worse. You hated each other still, throwing resentful glares in each other’s direction and shots were fired whenever you two interacted. Sparks flew in all the wrong directions, you were fire and ice and once it settled it never changed. You hated Kunikuzushi, you couldn’t stand him, you wanted him as far away as possible. He was cold and harsh, hostile even in your eyes. His entire attitude set you off.
There had been many attempts to fix things between you, mainly your parents meddling with your rivalry in hopes to dissolve it. They even went as far as giving you a Plusle and a Minun from the same duo, and while the two little pokémon were the best of friends, it didn’t do any good to you and Kunikuzushi. If anything, it only sparked the irritations that lingered between you two, and that feeling lasted until this very day and counting. Now, with those pokémon on your team, you had something that connected you and oh, you both hated it.
After that, your parents basically gave up trying. It was pointless, and they finally seemed to realize so as well. Their children were still fire and ice, and it would remain like that forever. You wanted nothing but to avoid him at all costs, but of course he wouldn’t let you off so easily. No, his goal in life seemed to be to piss you off as much as he could.
So it wasn’t much of a surprise when you found him standing in front of you, looking down upon you with a frown – as if you had done something to offend him, while all you did was try to enjoy an evening of peace with your pokémon.
“What are you doing here?” he asked icily. “Enjoyed the show?”
Another reason why you couldn’t stand him; he could be surprisingly cocky. He had been like that back in the days, but instead of said cockiness disappearing over time it only got worse.
Suppressing the urge to visibly roll your eyes, you slowly pushed yourself off the ground to properly face him. With your height being exactly the same, you knew you wouldn’t tower over him, but everything was better than having him look down on you like that.
“Yeah, it was definitely fun to see how much your pokémon still have to teach you,” you replied, narrowing your eyes at him – okay, you didn’t see anything of his training session but that didn’t matter, you only wanted to taunt him. You added, “very entertaining, to say the least. Would totally watch again.”
“What did you say?” Kunikuzushi hissed, taking a step forward.
“You heard me,” you said, unfazed by his threatening gesture. You didn’t even bother to hide the annoyance in your voice. “I don’t know what on Earth you are doing, but it’s a mess. Seeing you struggle is fun, though. Keep going.”
Before you knew it, his hands held a tight grip on your collar and he pulled you dangerously close to him.
“You wanna go, huh?” he snapped, his violet eyes boring into yours.
You struggled to maintain your balance, and you absolutely hated how your hands landed onto his chest in order to do so. You instantly pushed him away as far as his grip allowed you, only to glare at him viciously. Your poor heart was surging with anger, hammering in your ribcage agitatedly.
But then he suddenly let go of you with a small groan. Still glaring at you, he took a few steps away and you saw Lucario standing there, holding his bone in his paw and a bored expression plastered onto his features. It was clear that he was not amused after witnessing yet another fight between you and Kunikuzushi, but it wasn’t as if you could help it.
“Couldn’t you have hit him a little harder?” you mumbled, straightening your jacket while sending the guy opposite of you another glare. The male merely snorted, but you wasted no time to get back at him. If he thought he could get away with that, he was utterly wrong. At this point, you were too pissed-off to let it slide.
“Pachirisu!” you called out, and the white squirrel instantly abandoned her chase to hop over to you, eyeing Kunikuzushi curiously. Your eyes, too, wandered to the male opposite of you again. “Let’s settle this.”
“You always fall for it, don’t you?” the violet-haired male sneered, his hand reaching to his belt to grab a pokéball.
“I’m just patiently waiting for the day you actually manage to beat me,” you countered, watching how Kunikuzushi walked off, throwing and catching his pokéball in his hand in a manner that made it look like he gave zero fucks about the upcoming battle.
You wondered why he still was so confident, seeing how he never won a battle against you so far. Or was it only a cold indifference that he carried with him? Did he really not care about your battles? Were you the only one who got so worked-up by them? Oh, you truly hated him. You balled your hands into tight fists in determination. Never before have you lost to Kunikuzushi, and tonight wouldn’t be the first time.
In a flash of red light, he released Haunter from his pokéball, and the pokémon showed you a menacing grin. But Pachirisu wasn’t fazed by it in the slightest, clapping her paws against her cheeks to set sparks of lightning flying as she took a battle stance. Unlike your Lucario – who refused to fight Kunikuzushi at this point – your other pokémon weren’t tired of your endless battles yet and took every fight seriously. Pachirisu looked determined, and so were you.
“Pachirisu, use hyper fang!” you shouted, not really caring whether or not your opponent was ready to battle.
The white-and-blue squirrel dashed forward, gaining speed rapidly. Clouds of dust flew up as she went, hiding the pokémon from view for the majority of time. Kunikuzushi’s voice carried over the battlefield and you knew his Haunter dodged the attack.
“Haunter, double team!” he commanded.
As the dust cleared up, you found Pachirisu surrounded by multiple copies of Haunter, all spinning around the tiny squirrel and performing little jabs here and there. You could see your pokémon faltering in sheer confusion, looking around panic-stricken with hazy eyes as she tried to focus. It was to no avail; Kunikuzushi knew this move always got to your squirrel pokémon.
But you practiced a thing.
“Pachirisu, iron tail, now!” you called.
The tiny pokémon blinked a few times upon hearing your voice, but then she narrowed her eyes as she tried to focus again. Her spiked tail lit up, emitting a pale bluish light before the squirrel spun around rapidly in a dash of blue, successfully getting rid of all the Haunter copies at once. Only one remained, but the real Haunter was ready to strike.
“Use lick!” Kunikuzushi ordered.
A laugh bubbled up your throat, entertained by his choice of attack. Pachirisu flinched as the purple pokémon’s tongue swiped across her charged-up cheeks, and you felt bad for the little squirrel because God, that had to be so gross, but she used her tiny paw to wipe her cheeks and glowered at the ghost pokémon.
“Lick can’t paralyze electric pokémon, you should know that by now,” you pointed out, but you only cared little for your opponent’s mistake and prepared your next move. You were done with him, done with your night of peace being interrupted like that. It was time for the final blow. “Pachirisu, quick attack!”
You pointed at Haunter, and Pachirisu quickly gained speed as she darted towards her opponent. Particles of dust rose again, obscuring the fight from your view, but you heard a pained groan and you knew the attack hit its target. Haunter was probably down, vulnerable for your final move.
“Finish it off with thunderbolt!” you shouted.
Pachirisu chimed softly, and shortly after bolts of thunder surged through the sandy dust as the pokémon charged up before ultimately releasing the electricity with her tiny roar. Thunder crashed all around the battlefield, zapping through the air and filling it with tension before the bolts plummeted down on what you presumed was Haunter. Silence followed, and you held your breath as the dust slowly cleared. Pachirisu was revealed, panting heavily and her cheeks sprouting lightning subconsciously. Afore her laid Haunter, motionless on the ground. The ghost pokémon had his eyes closed, and for a few seconds both you and Kunikuzushi stared at the two pokémon in the center of the meadow.
“Fuck,” the violet-haired male cursed.
“How do you still sound so surprised?” you asked. “You never win against me.”
Haunter disappeared in a flash of red light, transferred back into his pokéball. Pachirisu ran towards you excitedly, happy to have won another match for you. You picked her up in your arms, cuddling her against your chest and murmuring to her how well she battled. The tiny squirrel had a few scratches and she was obviously tired, but that seemed to be about it. You pondered, maybe a visit to the local pokémon center would be a good idea, just in case. It would make a good excuse to walk away from the male who stood there scowling at you. Maybe you’d find back a little of the peace he had so rudely interrupted.
“You’re the loser here, Kunikuzushi,” you taunted. “As you always are.”
Maybe it was a little unfair. It wasn’t as if he lost by a long shot; usually your matches were a close call, and there had been many times where he did have the upper hand for the majority of the match. He was a worthy opponent, and you were well aware that you mostly won by sheer luck and the fact that Kunikuzushi chose force over tactic. The only reason you managed to beat him every time was because you always outsmarted him. Were he ever to use tactic over force, he’d probably beat you with ease, you knew that all too well. He just had to play his cards a little smarter, but of course you wouldn’t tell him that. You gladly took this opportunity to downtalk him a little. After all, he’d do the same.
“I lost to a fucking Pachirisu,” the male growled. “I can’t believe it.”
You snickered, rubbing the head of the tiny pokémon in your arms as you were very proud of her.
“Underestimate her all you want,” you simply said. “You should know by now that she’s pretty strong.”
“Whatever,” Kunikuzushi mumbled, looking away with a frown. “I’ll get her down some day. I’ll get you down some day.”
“Yeah, yeah, you’ve been saying that for a while now,” you signed, not believing a word of what he just said. “Anyway, I don’t plan on letting you ruin my night any longer, so I’m heading off. Bye, loser.”
Without looking back at him even once, you walked away from the field. Your pokémon all scurried after you one by one, and each of them betrayed you as they all gave Kunikuzushi a curious look as he stood there, his pokéball still in his hand. Okay, maybe you looked back once, just once, to see how he was doing. It was nearly completely dark now, and only the last auburn streaks in the sky revealed him standing there, barely anything more than a silhouette. But you quickly turned away from him; you didn’t care and you’ve had enough.

i think the bros would do double battles! :^)
with that limitation (3 pokemon per bro) i would give mario torracat, espeon, and shiny plusle and luigi manectric, umbreon, and shiny minun for the parallels (fire cat/electric dog, day evo vs night evo, and red/green coloring plus the plusle-minun thing) but i’m not a huge pokemon fan so my opinions should be taken with a grain of salt
i haven’t come up with their 6 pokemon comps but that’s what’s been rattling around in my head
Fun fact, Pokemon Ruby was the first Pokemon game I ever owned (before that, I would play at Crystal on my cousin's Gameboy Color) and I LOVE double battles (with only two pokemon back then haha)
Love these ideas you have ! I totally approve of the opposite themed pokemon, not to mention dark and electric type fit very well Luigi. Cats TOTALLY fit Mario (I keep saying he's the cat person to Luigi's dog person) and of course, Plusle and Minun are one of the most fitting duos for the Bros (good idea with the shiny colors!!)
My only objection would be about Manectric : but to be honest, I'm torn on which dog pokemon give him instead, because on one hand there's the electric theme with Yamper & Bolthund
But on the other hand, Luigi needs a ghost dog like Greavard or Houndstone (although maybe not the latter...)
Maybe there could be some inspiration from their various companions for the other Pokemon ?

I gave the boy a stand. It's called Life Itself because I really like that song by Glass Animals
I'm gonna rant about the stands design now
You might think it's odd that a stand called Life Itself isn't organic, but robotic in every way possible. That's the point. They are supposed to be the exact opposite of what you expect. Despite the fact that robots are typically seen having sharp angles and stiff posture, the boys hardly have any sharp angles to them at all. Their movement and speech is very animated. They even have personalities like a living being. I also made their face slightly reptillian and their head being covered in soft spikes on purpose. It's to allude about Cole's demon form which he obviously doesn't have in this au. Also, as the notes in the top right say, I was inspired by Plusle and Minun and Ingo and Emmet. I didn't want them to be exact twins though because most organic things aren't the same.
As for their ability, it's such a shame that Cole only recieved his stand after his parents died because he could have saved them. (*Evil laugh*) He loves his stand but hates their ability because it will forever remind him that he can save everything and anything but not who he truly wanted.
Fun fact: to differentiate between the two, Cole just calls them Blue and Red

🥚 - how my muse got their starter Pokemon
[Prose under the cut]
“Look, Mom, there’s Eevees!”
A little Caoimhe pointed over the Day-Care Fence into the soft, green grass beyond. On a particularly bushy patch lay three Eevee. They looked up at the three humans standing behind the fence, dark eyes blinking in the sunlight.
“Oh, you don’t have to think too hard about which one to get. We can just get one and hurry on over to your aunts.” Caoimhe’s mother checked her nails, casting a disinterested eye over the daycare. “We can't be late."
“No!” Caoimhe gave thair mother a heated look. “They’re going to be my partner! I have to choose right! I can’t just pick any of them!”
Caoimhe’s mother raised a penciled eyebrow at her.
“Now, now.” The elderly woman from the daycare smiled at both of them, before Caoimhe’s mother could say anything. “The little one is right. Choosing a Pokemon is best done with care and respect. This may take some time, but the truly lucky ones may bond immediately.”
“Can I…” Caoimhe tugged at her mother’s sleeve. “Can I go in there and pick one?”
Caoimhe’s mother gave her child an uneasy look. The Day-Care Lady nodded. “That is what we usually do, for those who are adopting. It shouldn’t take too long, since your daughter seems to already have a knack for reaching out to Pokemon.”
The old woman reached for the gate and gently swung it open. The child ran into the clearing, startling a couple of Surskit skating on the pond nearby. The Eevees jumped from their patch of grass, alarmed by the sudden intrusion.
“Careful!” the old woman called out.
Caoimhe took a breath. She had to do this right.
The Eevees stared back at her, ready to bolt.
She held out a hand and walked forward slowly. The grass rustled around her feet as she did, alerting other Pokemon to a human’s presence. She passed by Pichu and Plusle and Electrike, all staring curiously at her from various bits of vegetation as she walked past.
She inched closer and closer to the patch of grass with the Eevees. The Pokemon took a step back, sensing danger. Caoimhe decided to crouch down slowly, hand still outstretched.
Two of the Eevees bolted into the shrubbery, sending dirt and leaves flying. Only one remained, still wary, but with a glint of curiosity in its eyes. Caoimhe inched closer, her hand less than a foot away from the creature.
“Don’t be scared,” Caoimhe whispered. “Wanna be friends?”
It was as though time had stopped. Everything in the Day-Care waited for something to happen. The Eevee stood frozen to the spot, looking up at Caoimhe. They held their breath, not wanting to startle the Pokemon.
Then slowly, the Pokemon crept forward, tentatively sniffing her hand. It paused, and bumped the top of its head against her fingers.
“Friends?” Caoimhe asked again, tone rising in excitement.
The Eevee trilled, bumping its head against her fingers again. She pet the Eevee behind the ears. The creature leaned into her hand.
“Friends!” Caoimhe grinned
The Eevee finally responded. “Vee!”
“Do you want to run?”
“Vee-vee!”
“Let’s go run!” Caoimhe took off.
The Eevee followed. For several moments, the two chased each other in the grass. Caoimhe laughed as the Eevee ran circles around her, kept its pace, and shot past her. Caoimhe whirled around, running alongside the Pokemon, pausing to giggle in delight as it jumped up and turned the opposite direction. They ran together, and tumbled into a patch of grass. Caoimhe rolled over, still laughing, as the Eevee hopped close to her, tail swaying happily.
“You like running, don’t you?”
“Vee.”
“Let’s see.” Caoimhe put a finger to her lips in thought. “Are you going to stay an Eevee forever?”
The Eevee shook itself, as if to get rid of some dirt.
“Maybe not. A Jolteon? You’re pretty fast.”
The Eevee sat down and sneezed.
“Okay, how about… Vaporeon? The water one?”
The Eevee didn’t respond, and stared back with an implacable expression.
“Flareon? Sylveon?”
Another sneeze.
“Leafeon?”
At the mention of the word, the Eevee leapt up in excitement. “Vee!”
“You want to be a Leafeon?”
“Vee!”
“Caoimhe,” their mother called from the fence. “Are you done choosing? Are we bringing this one home?”
Caoimhe smiled at her new friend. “Yeah, we’re bringing home Leif!”

Okay, so I have played a lot of Pokemon Cafe lately. It's a nice cozy game that is good for my mental health.
So because of that I have made a little AU where Lan and Megaman works at Pokemon Cafe called the milk bar, where they just sell an make different milk drinks. Milkshake, milk tea, cafe latte and so on with their pokemon which is plusle and minun that sometimes gets switched for a break with another pokemon from their teams.
Lan is good at mixing drinks, and makes new twists to milkshakes, but bad at customer service cause of his foot in mouth syndrome.
While it's kinda opposite for Megaman. He's great at customer service, and gives good recommendation based on the customers tastes, but horrible at mixing drinks cause he's not good at putting good flavors together.
They both like to dress up the orders with silly umbrellas or other things.
What do you think?
Aww that’s cute! I love that!

[ID: GIFs of the Pokemon Minun and Plusle in Pokemon Cafe ReMix.
2 GIFs.
GIF 1: Plusle jumps in front of the gaming board, dancing in place and smiling broadly with closed eyes. Its hands glow with red electrical energy, and then it leaps off screen. It is wearing a little red cap and a red tie.
GIF 2: same as above, but it's Minun this time, with blue energy, and it faces the opposite side of the screen.

So my sibling and I grew up playing Pokémon and we both still love the game. The thing is we have different tastes when it comes to Pokémon. I love cute and spooky designs, they love badass and cool designs.
We had a conversation that ended with “how do you not like XYZ but ZYX??”
Now they got me to fill out this thing that ranks all of the types from generation along with starters, gimmick forms, legendaries and overall favourites.
We share a few but then have vastly different ones.
Also we kept choosing opposites too lol. I chose Plusle and they chose Minun. I chose Amped form of Toxtricity while they chose the Low Key form.
Also we only agree on one starter and that being Treecko.

My Pokemon TCG Divination Deck w/expl.
Bored as shit and wanted to stretch my symbology muscles. Here’s what I’ve got, with explanations.
Feel free to take inspo.
It’s listed alphabetically. I used my intuition, mixed with the canonical facts of the certain Pokemon, as well as the card art & gameplay mechanic. Cards meanings can be dependent on other cards in the same reading.
Subject to change and alteration.
A lot of these come from similar packs, because my offline friend bought me a “Build & Battle” Celestial Storm set, which I liked a lot of the art from. He also got me one of those random resell packs, with the various cards.
This has been in the works since August 19th, 2022. The most recent update was September 13th, 2022.
Added sleeves August 21st, 2022. Easier to shuffle. Better readings. Cards are protected.
-
Bill’s Maintenance - Trainer - Supporter Celestial Storm, 126/128, Uncommon
This card represents work that needs to be done.
Cinccino Crimson Invasion, 86/111, Uncommon
This card represents luxury, rest, and peace.
Clamperl Celestial Storm, 41/168, Common
This card represents something inside of the person or situation. Much like Clamperl makes pearls that are hidden behind it’s tough shell, whatever or whoever is being discussed has something good hidden inside.
Dusclops Burning Shadows, 52/147, Uncommon
This is one of my favorite cards in the entire TCG ever.
It’s the equivalent of the Fool from Tarot. New beginnings, curiosity, the start of a journey, searching for purpose.
Luvdisc Great Encounters, 77/106, Common, Added Aug 30 2022
This card represents love, typically romantic.
Machop Guardians Rising, 63/145, Common
This card represents strength, not unlike it’s Tarot counterpart. Machop is the basic stage, not as strong as Machoke or Machamp, but he’s just as determined as his future evolutions.
The art depicts him chopping away from an explosion. I think this represents victory despite adversity, or defeat / triumph over a problem in one’s life.
The card’s only move is “Dynamic Chop”, which I think represents a strategic but still headstrong way forward.
Mawile Celestial Storm, 91/168, Uncommon
Based on the yokai futakuchi-onna, Mawile represents a person or situation that appears one way, but in actuality is completely opposite. It represents someone who is two-faced, or a bad deal or situation.
Metapod Burning Shadows, 2/147, Uncommon
This card is similar to the Hermit from Tarot. It symbolizes a need for patience, introspection, and thought.
Misdreavus Legendary Treasures, 57/113, Common
I love the card art on this one. Multiple Misdreavus singing a cursed song.
I took this card to mean anxieties and fears that seem worse than they are. All bark and no (or not as bad) bite.
Nosepass Guardians Rising, 69/145, Common
This card represents the way forward. Nosepass always point north, without fail. This card means that the way forward is known, direct, or expected.
Plusle Celestial Storm, 53/268, Uncommon
The card’s art has both Plusle and it’s counterpart Minun, which I interpret as a card of balance.
Ralts BREAKthrough, 68/162, Common
This card represents children or the inner child.
Seedot Flashfire, 5/106, Common, Added Aug 21 2022
Seedot represents potential, growth, the beginning of something.
Skiddo BREAKthrough, 16/162, Common, Added Aug 30 2022
Represents travel, movement.
Sneasel Ultra Prism, 73/156, Common
This card can be read two ways:
You need to be sneaky and cunning
Someone is being sneaky and cunning towards you
The text at the bottom talks about how “breeders consider it a scourge and will drive it away or eradicate it”, which I think plays into the second reading.
Spiritomb Ultra Prism, 53/156, Uncommon
This is the equivalent of the Tower from Tarot. It represents something bad or meddlesome.
It could also represent a struggle to move on from the past, especially trauma or guilt. Spiritomb are evil spirits that have been bound to an odd keystone, so your trauma, guilt, or pain might be bound to you.
Underground Expedition - Trainer - Supporter Celestial Storm, 150/168, Uncommon
This card represents something unseen, something deep inside, or something under the surface. It tells you to look closer, or reevaluate things.
Zubat Generations, 30/83, Common
Zubat has the (not quite warranted) reputation of being an “annoying” Pokemon, and that’s what I took inspiration from here.
This card represents a constant annoyance, a frequent issue that keeps rearing it’s ugly head.
-
Wanted: Smeargle (creativity), Meowth/etc (finances), Shedinja (change), Yamask (Identity)
-
Thanks for reading. Lemme know what you think.

I wanted to reblog this with a complete list of all the references made in this piece just to have it posted somewhere in case anyone was curious 👌
- The layout of the environment was largely inspired by “Plate 3” by Iganz Carl Junck
Left side
- Discord and chaos, Archie and Maxie largely referencing the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald manga and the rift in their relationship that is present at some point in most iterations
- the pose Maxie and Archie are in was largely inspired by the sculpture, “The Ecstasy of St. Teresa” by Gian Lorenzo Bernini
- Groudon, Kyogre, Seviper, and Zangoose were chosen because of the rivalries they share, meant to mirror the rivalry between Maxie and Archie
- Sirskit on lower left is there as reference to the Sirskit that accompanies Archie in the Manga
- Banette in bottom right because of its pokedex entries that describe it as a pokemon born of deep hatred that is constantly seeking revenge
- Roselia thorns on bottom left, chosen because of the legends arceus pokedex entry that states, “Though beautiful, it has highly poisonous thorns. There is an old tradition in my homeland wherein one would send these thorns to an opponent to challenge them to a duel.”
- The black rose of a shiny roselia is next to the thorns, symbolizing hatred and death
- The yellow lines and circle behind Maxie and Archie is an overlap of the symbols that appear on a person who is possessed by the red and blue orbs, the lines extend all the way down to appear as bars like on a cage or cell
- To the left are yellow flowers called tansies which symbolize a declaration of war
- To the left are deep blue flowers called acenite which symbolize that danger or an enemy is near, urging caution
Right Side
- Harmony and balance, Archie and Maxie largely referencing Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, and Pokemon Masters EX
- Archie and Maxie are wearing their variant outfits in Pokemon Masters EX as they share a more unified color scheme
- The pose Maxie and Archie are in are largely inspired by two statues, Maxie’s being one at the Basilica of St. George and Archie’s being one of Mary at the St. Mary and St. John of Nepomunk monument
- Rayquaza as it is the peacekeeper between Groudon and Kyogre
- Jirachi because of its associations with purity, as in the Alpha Sapphire pokedex, “Jirachi will awaken from its sleep of a thousand years if you sing to it in a voice of purity.”
- Solrock, lunatone, plusle, and minun were chosen for being opposite pokemon with strong associations with the other that are able to coexist peacefully, meant to reflect the understanding Archie and Maxie develop after the events of the games
- Roselia was chosen because of the balance in the red and blue color scheme and because of its fragrance which, according to the ruby pokedex, brings serenity
- Behind Archie and Maxie's heads are the symbols that appear on a person who has been possessed by the red and blue orb, this time made to have the appearance of a halo
- Archie and Maxie are both reaching for an olive branch, symbolizing their shared desire for peace between their teams
- White tulips in the bottom right symbolize forgiveness
- Yellow daffodils in the bottom right symbolize rebirth and new beginnings
Work from my art history final, honestly may be one I come back to since I never settled on colors
