Key
Hijikata Toshizo - Otori Eiichi
Nagakura Shinpachi - Sumeragi Kira
Todo Heisuke - Mikado Nagi
Okita Soji - Otori Eiji
Kondo Isami - Kiryuin Van
Harada Sanosuke - Hyuga Yamato
Saito Hajime - Amakusa Shion
Kondo: … Well then, I think we’ll wrap up today’s meeting here. Does anyone have anything they would like to add?
Todo: Yes, I have a proposal.
Kondo: What is it, Todo-kun?
Todo: About the headquarters. Don’t you feel like they’ve been getting a bit cramped recently? Even though we’re companions with the same ideals, we still want to have our personal space. Right now, we’re all a little too close to each other.
Hijikata: Are you saying that you want to move? I understand your reasoning. I certainly acknowledge the need for it.
Harada: If you’re going to do it anyway, make it a house with a really high lintel, Hijikata-san. That would be more convenient, I’m sure.
Todo: Don’t make unnecessary, unreasonable demands. Things are finally progressing nicely, and that would just interfere, don’t you think?
Okita: Moving, huh... If the headquarters are going to be bigger, then the garden will too, right? Maybe we can even keep that cat from before.
Harada: Ah, is it the small black cat you met while on patrol?
Saito: A little cat… merely stroking its soft fur seems to bring a simple joy...
Okita: Yes. This isn’t an unreasonable demand, right?
Harada: Well, hmm… I don’t think whether you can keep it or not is a matter of space in the first place.
Hijikata: Harada is right. No matter how large a house we move into, keeping a cat inside is prohibited. First of all, cats should be allowed to roam freely in the town for the public good of rodent control.
Okita: It can’t be… The kind of comfort a cat provides is also necessary in life.
Hijikata: No matter what anyone says, I won’t change my mind. It’s a no.
Nagakura: ... Hijikata-san’s idea that "cats should be allowed to roam free" seems outdated now. Anyway, putting that aside, what was prohibited earlier was "bringing them into the house." In other words, doesn’t that mean that "it’s okay to keep them as pets even now, as long as they’re allowed to roam free"?
Kondo: That’s true. As for me, I didn’t mind either way, so I was thinking of respecting Toshi’s wishes. If Toshi agrees, then I have nothing more to say.
Saito: I see, your earlier words were meant to encourage deep reflection... I apologize for not realizing your profound thoughts, Hijikata-san.
Hijikata: No, it’s not like that at all…
Okita: What’s with that? If you’re going to allow it, then please say it clearly. But thank you.
Harada: I honestly thought it was not a possibility, too. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, Hijikata-san.
Todo: We’re getting off track. We’re going ahead with the move, correct?
Kondo: Ah, of course. Living conditions are important.
Todo: If that’s settled, okay. Shall we continue talking about the cat? If we’re going to have one, we’ll need to think of a name for it.
Saito: Well... the one who deserves the credit this time is Nagakura-san. How about we call it ‘Shinpachi’ so we don’t forget the gratitude we owe him...?
Nagakura: I appreciate the thought, but absolutely not.
Harada: Then, wouldn’t ‘Eiji’* be fine?
Nagakura: My childhood name? Enough already, leave my name alone. I’d rather not use either of them.
Okita: In that case, why not just ask Nagakura-san to name it on behalf of all of us?
Harada: That sounds good. Pick a good one.
Nagakura: … Alright, uh. … Well then, Shi…
Todo: I don’t think you would, but since it’s a special opportunity, something like ‘Shinsengumi’ is a no-go, okay? Try to be a bit more creative.
Hijikata: It's hard to say that ‘Makoto’ (integrity) is creative either.
Kondo: Using the toponym, ‘Mibu’, seems a bit too easy... What do you think? Can you think of anything?
Nagakura: …
Harada: Ah, do you want me to help you as well?
Nagakura: No, it’s fine. This is the role that was assigned to me. I will fulfill it no matter what. ... How about ‘Shingetsu’*? After the new moon, the moon will gradually wax. It’s a symbol of hope for the future. I thought it suits us now.
Saito: How wonderful... As a sign of our comradeship, I want to make a neck ornament out of the same cloth as our haori.
Okita: Great idea! Let’s get started right away. I can’t wait to put it on the kitty.
Harada: If you’re going to make a neck ornament, you’ll need a bell. I think I have one attached to my amulet, so use that.
Kondo: We were able to find a suitable name. Thank you, Nagakura-kun.
Nagakura: … Yes. That’s a relief.
Todo: Hey, Hijikata-san. I think ‘Shingetsu’ is good too, but in the end, it still has Nagakura-san’s name in it, doesn’t it?
Hijikata: I know you’re smart. However, since he hasn’t noticed it himself, just keep quiet about it. … Hey, everyone, remember it’s still a free-roam situation.
Translator's notes:
*1 Eiji- 栄治 (prosperity, peace). Nagakura’s childhood name. Different kanji combination from our Otori Eiji (瑛二)
*2 Shingetsu- 新月 (new moon). As Todo pointed out, it still uses the “shin” from Shinpachi (新八)

A Kagura Birthday Appreciation Post
When I tell you Kagura isn't your typical shounen heroine, I ain't lying 😌
First SQ jump heroine to vomit and pick her nose on screen
Belongs to the strongest clan in the Gintama universe and is the daughter of the Yato legend thus making her one of the strongest characters in the series
Has her own berserk moment that is usually reserved for male characters
The Yoshiwara in Flames arc is what actually sold me to fully invest in her character. Despite her childish attitude, Kagura always had that air of gentle maturity in her. This arc just proves that Kagura is a lot more perceptive than we think she is. She's aware that she's not like Shinpachi. She's a whole lot stronger than humans and this fact scares her to the point she unconsciously suppressed his Yato instincts in fear of hurting people. Seeing her snap made me realize that it's not a display of strength, rather than a display of weakness. Seeing her cry as she swore to get stronger so that she would never lose to her blood again, I just knew Sorachi would handle her with care and boy did he not disappoint.
Has her own story arc
The Rakuyou Decisive Battle Arc finally gave us more insight on the Yato clan as well as Kagura's back story. Also, this arc didn't only showed Kagura's growth but also added nuances to her character. Kagura acts a lot like Gintoki. Behind those childishness, those playful behavior, it hides a burden and responsibility that they know they will have to face someday. For Kagura, that is to fulfill her promise with her mother that she'd bring back her family. I can not be more proud when his fight with Kamui happened. She may have given up on Kamui once, but Kagura being Kagura, never could break her bond with his brother, and with the help of Gintoki and Shinpachi, she did not just managed to fulfill her promise to her mother, she exceeded it by showing her newly formed bonds, her family, the Yorozuya.
Resolves her own story conflict with the MC acting as her support
This is still in relation to the RDB arc. Gintoki, the male protagonist, took on a support role as Kagura convinces her brother to be family again.
Has her own rival in the series
Yes, just like shounen male characters, Kagura also has her own rival through the likes of Okita Sougo. The two have always bantered and fought whenever they see each other. Just like usual shounen rivals, they hate having to rely or get help from the other. Over time, they have also formed a bond knowing that they'd encourage and support the others back while still maintaining that healthy and playful rivalry between them.
Her stand-alone episodes is one of the best wholesome moments in Gintama
This standalone episodes shows that despite her monstrous strength and her tomboyish attitude, Kagura is still very much a sweet child and a cute lady. She shows us that it's okay to be vulnerable and enjoy things that normal girls and children do. That kind gentle unwavering heart is what makes her who she is.
Once again, to the Queen of Kabukicho, the one and only heroine of Gintama, Happy Birthday Kagura 🎉💞✨

Hakuouki : Routes order suggestion
This suggestion is on my opinion alone. My reasoning depends on the story of the route, how they related to others and mostly my sentiment.
Apologize in advance for any mistake.
1. Hijikata : Best to start with the main route. It got a broad view of the story that cover most of the main plot while the other routes are branches from the main one. Some of the other routes could be left with cliffhangers and that would be confusing. Also the prologue make it obvious that he is the main love interest, then it would be good to go with him on your first game. Not so much romance but one of the best romance.
2. Okita : Atleast before Saitou’s route.
3. Saitou : Atleast before Shinpachi and Harada
4. Shinpachi : Heisuke before Shinpachi is also fine.
5. Heisuke : Atleast before Harada’s route.
6. Harada : In case you go with Heisuke before Shinpachi, either Harada or Shinpachi is fine.
7. Sakamoto
8. Sannan
9. Yamazaki
10. Iba : Atleast before Souma’s route.
11. Souma
12. Kazama
13. Normal route(Yukimura Chizuru)
Following the game’s order would do either. Hijikata > Okita > Saitou > Heisuke > Harada > Shinpachi > Sannan > Yamazaki > Iba > Souma > Sakamoto > Kazama
I’ll share my reasoning in the spoil section for those who finished. It contains heavy spoilers. Better not read them if you haven’t finished.
*You can skip this part since I’m only sharing my own*
Here are my routes in order when I first play. I thought I should go with the 6 original routes first.
1. Hijikata : Because he’s the main route.
2. Harada : I like him very much and couldn’t wait any longer.
3. Okita : I’m just picking 1 out of 2.
4. Saitou : I’m just picking 1 out of 2.
5. Heisuke : Keep the one I’m interested as the last before moving to Kazama.
6. Kazama : Last one of the original 6 after finishing the Shinsengumi’s guy’s route.
Now the other 6 and the normal route.
7. Shinpachi : I’m curious how his route would turned out because I see him as a bro rather than love interest.
8. Normal route KW only : Somehow I just felt like playing with my own choice without guide and got this. I didn’t know it still continues in EB! How stupid have I been those entire time ;;-;;
9. Sakamoto : He had my worst interest when I first met him so I hurry play his route before I lose interest at last. But he turns out to be my favourite, though.
10. Sannan : I want to know more about him.
11. Normal route EB only : I continue this route right after I realized it hadn’t finished yet. Took me long enogh to realize though. *continues to cry*
12. Yamazaki : I like him. Just saying.
13. Iba : Last one before Souma.
14. Souma : Save my dear for the last.
HUGE CHUNK OF SPOILERS BELOW
1. Hijikata : The main route, of course. By far the best route in terms of the plot and romance pairing in my opinion. If I can hold the most depressing route, then I should pass the others as well!
2. Okita : His happy ending was sweet but left a cliff hanger that kinda crush me after I expect so much. I mean, when I started his route I was like “finally, I can get him a happy ending he deserves ” but at the end of his epilogue makes me go completely blank then question “He’s just sleeping, right?”. Until now I still want to believe that he just simply fall asleep even though it might not be true. The ending would definitely crush me even harder if play his route as one of the last route since my expectations on his ending would grow higher as I grew fond of him more after every routes.
3. Saitou : This involved Okita, Harada and Shinpachi.
Go for Saitou after Okita. Chapter 3 of KW when Chizuru learns about his condition upon hearing his conversation with Matsumoto-sensei. That scene suppose to be Okita’s scene, so I should focus on him on the first try rather than Saitou because Saitou stopped me from being soooooo emotional over the scene.
Go for Saitou before Harada and Shinpachi. Saitou get to reunite with them after they left in EB. It’s more fun to surprise yourself from Chizuru’s pov by meeting up with them without knowing the story from their side yet.
4. Shinpachi : I prefer him before Heisuke because I wanna see the side of the one who’s strongly against the idea of rasetsu before Heisuke’s side who accept to be rasetsu on his own decision. Shinpachi’s disagreement is totally accurate, but Heisuke’s side isn’t something you get to see much aside from his. It's fine to put Heisuke first but I like the other way better.
5. Heisuke : His route in chapter 4 of KW during Aburano incident has his painful CG appearing in both his and Harada’s routes, so I’d rather gone through this part in his route before Harada’s since this scene is mostly about him. Quite similar to Okita and Saitou’s case.
6. Harada : It’s all written mainly in Saitou and Heisuke’s.
7. Sakamoto : Actually I’m a little on edge between Sakamoto and Yamazaki. Playing the route of a guy who oppose to the Shinsengumi after the Shinsengumi’s guys route would do. But putting Yamazaki and Sannan later should be okay since they don’t really have anything to do with the Shinsengumi much in the last half part(they’re practically dead), while Souma is a special case for me.
8. Sannan : I think it’s not that serious on where to put this in order. But it shows another side of him with his resetsu stuffs which might be good to see after/apart from his cheesy sides in other routes. I’m also referring to the scene where Sannan in rasetsu form argues with Sakamoto, so I’m putting him after Sakamoto and others above as his role isn’t that heavy in the remaining routes.
9. Yamazaki : I just realized in this route that he(and also Shimada) had been looking out for Chizuru these whole time throughout those routes without me knowing eg. when she delivered a message to Saitou or go out with Sakamoto. He surprised me a little in Sakamoto’s route and even more in his own route so I decided to save him for later. I’m thankful for him and this got me blushing a bit. That’s kinda sweet :)
10. Iba : Similar to Yamazaki. He surprised me for having a crush on Chizuru since childhood. Like, really? This whole time? After all of those routes? Since the beginning? Since before I know you?? Since Chizuru even remembers you??? Also putting Souma after him is a good decision by luck. Come on, Iba, don’t guilt trip me too hard I just finished yours🤣
11. Souma : Basically parallel to Hijikata. Hijikata is one of the starters while Souma is the last chief. Hijikata as Chizuru’s commander and Souma as her junior. If we have Hijikata as the start of the story of Shinsengumi, Souma could be the end. Playing his route which contains flashback of the other members after their routes sounds perfect to me. I love how I get to see the other old characters trust Souma with the Shinsengumi and pass on their legacy to him. Although I think Kazama is better as the last order, I don’t regret having him to end with. Indeed, I’m glad.
12. Kazama : Another parallel to Hijikata, but a little different from Souma. In Hijkata’s, Chizuru views the story from inner side while supporting her love’s back to his goal. In Kazama’s, Chizuru views the story from outer side while having Kazama supporting her back to her goal. He is the only love interest who is an original character which doesn’t involve with the history and his route is also the normal ending so he’s best as the last love interest.
13. Normal route(Yukimura Chizuru) : Best route to end the game with no romance. *shed tears* *sniff* *sniff*
I may not be good at expressing my thoughts into words and my writing skill isn’t something I’m so proud of, so I apologize if it’s confusing. But I’m doing my best and I’ll try to improve! Please feel free to correct me if I made any mistake. You can also share your thoughts whether you agree or disagree on anything. I’d be happy to hear different thoughts.

Hakuoki Shinkai Hana no Shou Okita After Story Translation
This is my first post of the month, so I’ll start by asking you to please support me if you can through my ko-fi, and paypal or patreon which provides access to my hakuoki blog translations and early access to my postings. Also, please let me know if you have any hakuoki drama cds that you’d be willing to share that are on my Lookout List since i either do not have audio for those cds or do not have audio that I can share.... and if you are able to remove watermarks from a video, please contact me.
Finally done with all of what i refer to as these after stories. this is the last translation of what i have from the 「 薄桜鬼 真改 華ノ章」 スラワース早期予約特典 小冊子. did Souji’s last partly cuz he’s one of my least favourite routes (sorry but not sorry. also i won’t deny that my premier target audience for most of my translations for content that doesn’t come from one of the games is myself ;D), and well, i would categorize my thoughts as mostly angsty (there’s a reason why i mostly write angst lol) and didn’t exactly need more of it...
still, it’s kinda sad that it took me almost 2 years to finish translating all of what I could for these... but hey, i can’t help it if I get distracted by other stuff that i find more interesting.... ahahahaaaa....(excuse me as i go hide until next week’s translation lol).
also, in case someone doesn’t know, i’ve already translated the after stories for Saito, Hijikata, Yamazaki, Kazama, Hijikata, Harada, Heisuke and now Souji... and am unable to translate the others as I don’t have it in CN tho I can go scan the rest should someone want to translate the stories for Shinpachi, Sanan, Souma, Iba, or Sakamoto.
enjoy? maybe? lol?
Hakuoki Shinkai Hana no Shou After Story Translation - Okita Souji
Translation by KumoriYami
(TN: just an fyi, Souji doesn't call Chizuru "Chizuru-chan" in this. checked the booklet just to be sure.)
The scene was in the mountains, they had been dyed bright red as the sun set in the West.
And the one looking over this scene, was the sword genius, former First Division Shinsengumi Captain, Okita Souji.
(Speaking of which, since childhood, I would always look into the direction of my hometown at dusk.)
While he thought this, the sound of frantic footsteps from further away, came closer.
As for who the sound of these footsteps belonged to, it was obvious. She was...... [It was her]
"——Souji-san! What are you doing here?
For the present Okita, this woman was more important than his own life, Yukimura Chizuru.
From the way she gasping from having run down the mountain path, she seemed quite anxious. When she found Okita was missing, she selflessly began to search for him.
Okita showed a look of ignorance and looked back at her.
"Asking me what I'm doing...... can't you tell after after looking? I'm watching the sunset.
He answered in a tranquil tone. Immediately this young woman lost her strength and fell to her knees.
"If you're doing that, please tell me first...... Just now, I couldn't find Souji-san, so I was very worried."
It seemed that her words were true. Because there was sweat on her slim neck, and her cheeks were bright red.
Seeing Chizuru like this, he felt full of tenderness/affection, and he couldn't but think of tightly embracing her small body.
On the other hand though, he also felt the urge to tease her so that he could see her troubled appearance.
(Even I feel that these days are/this day is quite boring. [can't tell if this is plural or not])
"Do you dislike not seeing me?"
"Of course, that's because Souji-san is a very special/important person to me."
There was no hesitation as Chizuru replied in this way. She was also very aware of how these words made Okita feel at ease.
"Good grief, are there really no problems? We just didn't see each other for a short amount of time."
His abrupt words made Chizuru look sad.
"……Please don't say such a thing."
Although she was well aware of what was going to happen, she didn't want think about it right now. Her innocent expression seemed to say this.
(This teasing seems to have been too much.)
As Okita thought this, he gently extended his hand.
"Come here, Chizuru."
After a short confused moment, the young woman grabbed Okita's hand. He firmly held her small hand, then pulled her small body into his embrace.
"Ah……"
She couldn't help but make a small sound and Okita hugged her. A sweet and floral fragrance emanated from her hair and neck.
He gently combed her hair, and both of their eyes coincidently found each other's. Those sincere eyes were staring straight into Okita's,
(How good would it be if we were always able to look at each other like this.)
This felt just like a dream. Before he he was in a relationship with her, the memories he had of when he lived alone....... were quite vague.
"Hey, Chizuru. Let me say one thing first."
Hearing Okita's words, she blinked at him in disbelief. Looking at her adorable expression, he opened his mouth.
"Even though I'll pass away one day, you can't/aren't allowed to follow me. Even if you're alone, you need to keep on living."
"…………"
Chizuru bit her lips.
Similarly to how Okita was unable to remember what happened when he lived by himself, she wasn't able able to imagine what would happen to her after losing Okita.
(If I was more considerate, I might say "after I die, live happily with someone else"......)
But it was impossible for him to give Chizuru to someone else. Even if he knew if doing that might make her happy.
Chizuru seemed to have understood what he really thought. "So what's your answer? Chizuru."
In the face of Okita's question, she sadly lowered her head——
"…………I know."
She responded with a depressed voice.
"Very good."
He muttered softly, then gently stroked Chizuru's cheeks.
There large eyes before him were now slightly moist. This expression indicated that she had a clear understanding of what was going to happen later.
For a good while, she quietly kept her eyes closed.
Okita put his lips against her slightly opened lips, and felt the slight warmth as they touched. Their was a dream-like kiss, almost as if it were a whisper that could not be heard unless it were attentively listened to.
Although he had kissed these lips multiple times, to the point where he couldn't remember, he also didn't know how many times he would be able to kiss these lips in days to come.
The lips that joined with his seemed to be shaking/trembling with grief. He was immediately able to tell that she was crying.
"……Don't cry. Because you're a strong child."
As he wiped the tears from the corner of the young woman's eyes, he gently reprimanded her.
But in fact, his heart felt happy because Chizuru shed tears for him.
(I didn't expect that in my lifetime/life, that I would actually meet a woman who would cry for me.)
Thinking back, this was an ill-fated relationship. Okita thought so.
(My life will not last for a long time.…… but it wasn't completely bad, because in the end, I was able to meet you like this. Maybe the purpose of my life was to meet you.)
Without even realizing it, the sun already set, and the nearby scenery was gradually coloured like the water. The two of them then set off on their way home alongside one other.

The First Move, Chapter 4
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
AO3
She woke up groggy, a mildly thumping headache relentlessly bothering her. Stirring, she slowly unwraps the blankets around her, stopping to wonder in amusement at how carefully they were spread around her. All her memories from yesterday night remained fuzzy, but she still remembered very distinctly just how comfortably and snugly she slept under the blankets. Seita must’ve really taken the time to wrap them around her, probably following Hinowa’s guidance. Tsukuyo finally sits upright, hands on the futon for support, looking around. Her room’s orientation definitely looked… different than usual. She definitely didn’t remember keeping a vast stack of what looked like manga volumes propped up in her room’s corner… maybe she’s seeing things. Hangovers can still be a pain, mentally and physically. Nothing a morning bath and a good smoke after breakfast can’t patch up quick, she murmurs to herself.
I know today’s the start of the weekend, but I just can’t skip work. God, Hinowa...
Parched, she searched around the futon sides, and to her amazement found a flask of water and a small bag with aspirin kept beside the futon. She reaches out immediately, gulping down the water with gusto, and taking an aspirin soon after. Feeling much better, she takes the time to look around. Tsukuyo finally realises the room itself was dimly lit, kept as to make sure to reduce any sunlight coming into the room as much as possible. She shakes her head, finally standing up and slowly walking towards the door. Opening it, she covers her eyes from the light flooding in, walking into what looked like the living room, with two sofas facing each other and a table between, and a desk close to the window. Dazed, she looked around, wondering where the bathroom could be.
“Take a right and go straight, the bathroom's gonna be to your left, close to the entrance doors.” A familiar deep voice spoke. “I got you a toothbrush, so no need to worry about borrowing mine.”
“Ah, thank you, Gintoki,” she mutters back, heading into the direction pointed out slowly. Realization hits like a bucket of cold water seconds later, and she turns around sharply, facing the man who had spoken. “GINTOKI?!?”
There was no mistaking the fish eyed, dead faced samurai. Leaning on the wall, Gintoki looked back, smirking.
“Morning, shinigami-tayuu.”
-
A good twenty minutes later, after Tsukuyo had gotten over the initial shock and freshened up, they sat close together at the table, with Gintoki having finished laying out the breakfast.
“Fried eggs and rice? Quite fancy of you,” she remarks, digging in.
“Be glad it’s me making the breakfast, not Kagura. She’d just put raw eggs on top and call it a day…”
“I’m thinking you must’ve egged her onto that one…”
“Clever pun, but no,” Gintoki shrugs, waving her off as she giggles. “I kid you not, Kagura’s had wack tastes since the beginning. Comes from having a dunderhead of a brother and an even bigger moron of a father.”
“You really don’t mince words, do you?”
“Really though, they deserve it.”
“Sounds like you’ve had personal experience dealing with it.”
“Ugh, trust me. You don’t wanna know.”
“When was the last time you’ve seen them?” Tsukuyo inquires, curious.
Gintoki takes a small bite of the rice, chewing thoroughly before settling in. “It’s been a while. I know the brother comes by occasionally. He says it's to check on his sister, but we all damn well know that he comes here for the battles.”
“With Okita-kun?”
“Nah,” Gintoki shakes his head. “The Chief Of Police. Seems like he’s taken a liking to her. Says she’s far more aggressive and relentless than Sofa-kun. Now, I’m thinking which way does he mean...”, a kunai hits him squarely in the forehead, startling him. “Oh, c’mon honey…”
“You know why you had that one coming,” she chuckles, and Gintoki leans on the tabletop, groaning out loud. “Say, where are the kids? Didn’t see Kagura around…”
“Well,” Gintoki sighs, straightening up. “It’s not one in the afternoon yet, so she’s definitely still sleeping. I told Shinpachi to take the day off, cause we finished all the requests due over the week, and we don’t accept any requests during the weekend.”
“Yorozuya’s that busy these days, huh,” Tsukuyo marvels, and Gintoki nods in agreement.
“Surprised me too. Since the return, and me settling what was left of the Naraku, the Yorozuya really took off as a local brand name. Beats me how…”
Tsukuyo smiled. The man really was blind to the impact of his own work on the Kabuki district. To say that the residents of Kabuki loved Sakata Gintoki is an understatement. Gintoki is, and always was, a local celebrity. Despite the man’s temperament, Gintoki somehow always had this innate ability to get the people around him to notice, to want to get to know him better. He was someones’ drinking buddy, another’s rival, someone’s friend to turn to. Gintoki is always there to lend a helping hand, even if he offers in that classic tsundere technique of his.
“Anyway, honey,” Gintoki starts, snapping Tsukuyo out of her thoughts. “I gotta say, I usually don’t have mornings this calm and, dare I say, fun. Usually my mornings are pretty loud, thanks to the kids...”
Tsukuyo snorts. “You calling high noon ‘morning’ is a new one. Although, I must admit, I quite enjoyed the brunch. We should probably do this more, darling.” She smirks, noticing him looking away blushing.
“Yeah, yeah,” he murmurs, then suddenly perks up. “Granted, we were only able to enjoy this cause I’m still alive from yesterday…” he shudders, alarming Tsukuyo.
“I couldn’t have been that bad yesterday, right…” she asks shakily, as Gintoki flashes her a deadpan, sarcastic look.
“You wish, honey.” Quickly noticing the panicked expression on her face, he sighed, waving. “I was exaggerating, honey. It wasn’t that bad, but it was… quite eventful. You wouldn’t let me go and kept clinging onto me whilst draining Baba's expensive sake to the last drop. Definitely scared the old hag out of her wits for once. I somehow calmed you down and took you upstairs, and put you to bed, where you slept like a child. Explained everything to Baba later, she understood.”
“I’ll go down and apologize immediately,” Tsukuyo exclaims, getting up, but Gintoki caught her hand, motioning her to sit down.
“Calm down, Tsukki, it’s alright,” he soothes, gently caressing her hand, and Tsukuyo looks at him in wonder with disbelieving eyes. How’d the silver buffoon turn so mature all of a sudden? “Told ya I explained it to her. If you really want to-”
“Of course I do!” “Then we’ll go down there together. How about that,” he replies back, smiling, and Tsukuyo’s heart glows even more. What has this man done to her? Better yet, what had happened to him? “Eat up, I’ll take care of the dishes, gotta wake Kagura up for breakf-uh, I mean, brunch.” He winks at her, getting up and grabbing the dishes. Tsukuyo pouts.
“You know, I still have to get to work,” she exclaims, digging into her meal.
“Way ahead of you, already called up Hinowa, she’s got you covered,” he shouts back, smiling at the groan that followed.
Learn to take a break, you damn workaholic…
-
Tsukki, you work too damn hard…
That was the only thing on Gintoki’s mind as he saw her come back from making some small rounds around town. Of course, she still came all the way back, despite his and Hinowa’s insistence. Tsukuyo disregarded their suggestions, stressing that the rookies in the Hyakka still needed her guidance. True to her word, she had hastily finished brunch, took Gintoki with her downstairs to Otose’s bar, where she apologized profusely for about half an hour, and then finally dragged Gintoki to Yoshiwara. Hinowa was surprised to see the both of them at the doorstep, and Gintoki kept pouting until she finally promised that she’d be back in an hour to enjoy the rest of the day. And again, always being true to her word, she showed up back in an hour, right on time. Even if Gintoki sometimes felt that the drunk terminator was being way too sincere for the new recruits, he understood her plight all too well, along with the burden she was carrying.
“Was she really always like this, Hinowa,” he groans aloud, as he sits close to the porch, peeling off orange skins, waiting on Tsukuyo to finish her bath. Hinowa remained close by, merely smiling at Gintoki’s pouting and nodding back. Gintoki sighs, leaning against the wall.
“How was she like back then, Hinowa?” he asks, wondering aloud.
“Much of the same, Gin-san, except much more serious, I’d say. Dedicated to her work. Tirelessly working to ensure the safety of the courtesans and the citizens of Yoshiwara,” Hinowa sighs, a slight frown forming on her face, which Gintoki is quick to notice. Moments later, however, Hinowa speaks again.
“Gin-san, I’ll be honest,” Hinowa starts. “Seeing Tsukuyo like this has really made me feel happier than I’ve ever felt. All this time, Tsukuyo had been hell bent on dedicating herself to the lifelong mission to protect Yoshiwara. Even with the liberation from Hosen’s rule, and the fiasco that followed after the return of Jiraiya, she had been going on and on, the same routine and the unyielding effort.”
“There are times where I’ve genuinely wondered whether Tsukuyo would ever get to live her life. There’s only so much one can do once they throw themselves into their work. As someone who had been there by her side so long, I’ve worried so much about her. You see, Gin-san, all I ever wanted for her was to live happily.”
Hinowa looks at Gintoki, wearing a small sad smile. “I am glad that you’ve become such an important part of her life now, Gin-san. Trust me when I say it means the world to her to get to spend time with you like this. I’ve never seen her so happy, so content with life. The Tsukuyo that I knew from so long ago would never have been able to dream of a time where she’d get to spend time with me and Seita so long, and get to enjoy a serious, fulfilling relationship with the love of her life. It’s beyond a courtesan’s wildest dreams, a delirious illusion at the most. And yet you broke through all of reality’s hurdles like it was nothing, and granted her something far greater than what dreams would have promised.”
Gintoki silently listens, taking in everything that Hinowa just said. Straightening up, he kneels in front of her, head bowed.
“I will do everything in my power to protect that happiness, Hinowa,” Gintoki solemnly states. “She means the world to me, she truly does. I never expected to find my own happiness in this world for a long time, but being with her made me realise that maybe I did have a chance at finding that happiness. Even if it was all just to be by her side, I would’ve happily obliged, but she allowed me to be a part of her world, and I will never take that for granted.”
“I will never take her for granted,” Gintoki utters, bowing down. He lifts his head up to see tears flowing down Hinowa’s cheeks.
“I know you won’t, Gin-san. I know you won't.”
-
After talking to Hinowa for some time more, and eating up some of the orange slices he had carefully peeled out, Gintoki heads for Tsukuyo’s room, wondering what was taking her so long. He didn’t need to wonder for long. After knocking on her door for a while, he finally slides the door open carefully, just to see Tsukuyo lying down on the futon, deep in sleep. She jolts up quickly at the noise, despite his cautiousness.
“Oh, Gintoki…,” she starts, slowly propping herself upright as Gintoki walks up to her. “So sorry, felt like I’d take a little nap before I’d join you and Hinowa downstairs… seems like I dozed off…”
Gintoki snorts, as he sits by her side. “Figured you would. Just in case, I got you a glass of water along with oranges. You better eat the orange slices, Gin-san worked too hard to ensure they were peeled to perfection, you know.”
“For God’s sake, Gintoki, they’re just orange slices,” Tsukuyo laughs, as she reaches out for a piece, but Gintoki’s ahead of her already, grabbing a slice and bringing it close to her mouth.
“Say ‘aah’, sleepyhead,” he teases. Tsukuyo can’t help but giggle.
“Fine, you win, Gintoki,” she replies, as accepts his helping hand. “For some reason, I’m feeling extra sleepy today. Your laziness is finally rubbing off on me, I see.”
“Point one for Gin-san on the board,” Gintoki announces, and Tsukuyo responds by throwing a pillow. “Woah, no kunais?” he asks, and he's suddenly whisked close to her, as she plants a quick, passionate kiss on his cheek.
“Not today,” she states happily, grinning at the blushing samurai.
-
Work was tougher than usual today...
Tsukuyo made her way through the roads in the Kabuki district to Otose’s bar. She’d just wrapped up Hyakka business for the week, and had planned to visit the silver-haired samurai once she was done. On the way, however, Tsukuyo feels uneasy. Her body was sweating profusely despite the cool evening weather, and her muscles seemed to ache even more than usual after the work. Normally, Tsukuyo would chalk it up to the usual overtime grind taking a toll on the body, but Tsukuyo knew perfectly well that today was just an ordinary day at the office, nothing more. There was no reason why she’d feel this bad…
Deep in her thoughts, Tsukuyo notices the bar coming into view, and walks on. She had barely taken ten steps in the direction of the bar when she’s suddenly hit with a disarming headache. Barely keeping sight as she bears the dizziness, she slowly trudges on, approaching the bar outskirts, where she notices the android maid with the shining green hair.
“Tama… chan…” Tsukuyo stutters, as she gives into the exhaustion, collapsing to the ground.

Can I ask for HCs for Hijikata and Okita falling for someone from the Yorozuya (older that Shinpachi but younger than Gin) that has the same tendency to get into trouble?
As soon as I got this, I could picture it in my head lol--
Hijikata Toshirou
As soon as you started hanging around the Yorozuya, he was kinda interested in you. You didn’t really seem like the type to get involved with them, but as he began spending more time around you, he realized that you definitely fit in. Whenever some big event happened, or he caught wind of suspicious behavior, he wasn’t surprised to see your face. He’d be fairly annoyed at the prospect of seeing you doing crazy stunts, or weird jobs, but it slowly grew into fondness.
The relationship would start out very playful and very climactic! You’d run into each other in very high action scenes, which was obviously very intense for both of you. When you’d run into each other alone, he’d sigh, preparing himself for the worse. Surprisingly, your conversations are really nice and fresh. Definitely a refresher, but you’d quickly find yourself in trouble again, and slip away as if you were never there.
Hijikata and you running into each other becomes routine, and when all of a sudden he stops seeing you, he has an intense moment of clarity. Was he… was he hoping to see you all along? He definitely bashes his head on a streetlamp. If you wind up not seeing him for a while, he’ll go to the Yorozuya himself to check up on you. He’ll claim he’s there because of a noise complaint, but that’s obviously a lie.
Please approach him again, he misses you.
Okita Sougo
Your relationship would start out on a similar note: He’d run into you during your jobs a lot, and although he was very mean and teasing, you slowly became friends. He’d start banter with you, and even physically fight with you if he thinks you have it in you.
If he ever saw Yorozuya without you, he’d make a comment like “where’s the other one?”. They’d respond with something like “oh, they’re off doing a separate job”. Not even 5 minutes later, you come rushing down the street, swarms of angry men chasing after you.
Sougo would definitely slip out a “wow, I thought you had brains, guess I was wrong!” or something. You can hit him. Regardless of if you’re bashful from his mockery, or spitting right back at him, he’ll use up his free time at work to keep an eye out for you. He’s definitely prevented seriously dangerous things from happening to you, but he does it so discreetly that you’d never even know he’s there.
He’d rather mitigate the possibility of actual danger, but he’ll happily sit back from a scene and watch you screw around.
He doesn’t even realize he likes you per se, rather he just feels fondness towards your person (he likes you very much he’s just dumb).

Hello author. Could I have a HC on how would the Hakuouki characters make up to their angry s/o? Arigatou in advance !
Hello! Sure!!!
Heisuke:
-would probably follow you from a distance like a sad puppy. you go to your room? he's sitting somewhere where he can see the door if you go to leave, just so you can see how sad and sorry he is
-"Can I please talk to you?"
-he'd feel so horrible the second he upset you, it'd feel like the magnetic poles of the earth changed- everything would be out of sorts
-eye contact while apologizing? rare. this boy would be blinking away tears as fast as they're forming
-he'd be irritable towards anyone else that approached him prior to apologizing. he was busy internally beating himself up, he had no time for others. he was focused on you
-would def cry and tremble some if you accept his apology. hes got a soft heart but he realizes hes got no filter
Souji Okita:
-is this where you finally leave him??
-he'd be angry too. you weren't supposed to be giving him the silent treatment, he wants you to come back and act angry. your silence scares him more than anything else.
-internal battle. "i was never cut out for love anyways. im good for one thing only, and this proves it. its better off she leaves" and "i want to be more than just a sword, she made me feel like a person. she cant give up on me, she cant leave"
-either way, both thoughts make him angsty. anyone who so much as looked at him wrong would be sorry. hed probably stay in the same spot all day, sipping tea or watching the wind dance in the trees as his mind raced
-eventually hed get fed up with this. hed barge into wherever you were, and if anyone was with you, a simple glare from his emerald eyes would force them to exit
-"aren't you supposed to love me?!" "youre supposed to talk to the person you love. yell if your mad, scream if you're pissed at me! i cant take this silence"
-hed feel his soul crack when youd return a blank, somber stare to him. hed gently rest his hands on your shoulders, hanging his head down
-"please... i'm sorry."
-he'd definitely be showing your body how sorry he was later ;)
Hijikata:
-wouldn't even let you leave the room
-"you know i didn't mean it that way. don't leave" he'd say as your back faced him
-"you.. are my guiding light. i realize i can be foolish sometimes, but id never mean to hurt you."
-fights between the two of you are rare, but often caused by his outwardly cold, stubborn, and reserved way of thinking
-apologies from him were never simply "im sorry", he had a way with words and portrayed his remorse through the art of constructing them
-your anger was always quick to subside with him. you knew he meant what he said and would make changes.
Shinpachi:
-if you were upset with him, he drink himself to drunk stupor before staggering back to find you
-he'd apologize until the point you thought it was comical, as he verbally atoned for eating your leftovers, accidentally ripping your clothes, and other random bits in addition to whatever had angered you
-hed mix his apologies with words of glorifying you and how lucky he was to have you until he passed out in your lap
Sanosuke:
-the two of you were passionate people, as a result, things could get a little heated between you two sometimes. nevertheless, sano would never mean to hurt you. he realized he took his words too far and it left you storming out of the kitchen
-although he was angry too, having you angry with him disturbed him at his core
-hed give you some time to cool off as he reflected on how he should have handled the argument
- he approached you some time later quite cautiously, sparking up some small talk or cracking a joke before getting into his apology
-both of you apologize to one another in such a heartfelt way that you both needed some make up smex
Saito:
-however angry you were at him, he was far angrier with himself
-he would not approach you until you were ready to talk with him, but he would continue to care for you at a distance. making meals, helling with laundry, bringing you tea
-he realized he was not the best in communicating, but did not know how upset and worried youd be about him coming home so late. he should have told you he was leaving, and thatd he be a while as he handled his extended patrol
-his own fatigue was nothing in comparison to the heaviness in his soul
-once it seemed as though your anger had subsided and you were back to normal, he apologized sincerely in the best way he could muster over a meal.
Yamazaki:
-did not understand why you were angry, but felt guilty anyways. when you tried to walk off, he grabbed your wrist and begged you to tell him what had you so upset
-you two communicated through the issue, which resulted in a swift solution and apology
-he would not stand for you to be angry with him if he could fix it.
Kondou:
-"don't you walk out that door!" ...then hangs his head in shame as you walk out of the door
-eventually comes to find you and apologizes through a hug, blanket, and some tea
-"i can't focus knowing you're upset with me. you are my motivation, after all. how can i fix this?"
Kazama:
-"Tell me what's wrong. I can't read your mind." He'd say as he put himself in front of you and grabbed your shoulders
-"As adorably fiesty as you are... I can't stand when your anger is directed at me." He'd whisper apologies over your neck and more.

ghosts ch. 1
They were both broken people. Broken people didn’t fix each other, as the pieces would never quite perfectly together. But they understood each other. They were able to see the beauty within one other of being incomplete. --
fall, 1870. The Boshin War is over. Yukimura Chizuru returns to her childhood home in Tokyo to learn how to live again. Nagakura Shinpachi has escaped with his life under a new name.
The world is cruel, but it works in mysterious ways to bring their paths together again.
(aka a hakuoki fanfic | shinpachi x chizuru centric; post hijikata bad end)

— one.
“Ow!”
The clay of the teacup burned hot, much hotter than Chizuru had expected, and her fingers instinctively drew away from the heat. The cup slipped from her grasp and smashed into scattered shards onto the ground, the oolong tea that had once been contained forming little rivers in-between the cracks of the stone pavement. A few droplets beaded onto her kimono, but she quickly brushed them away with the back of her hand; she had washed all of her silks just yesterday, and she hardly wanted to have this one stain.
She sighed. It was probably her twentieth sigh of the day so far, and the sun had just barely moved into the sky. Every time she let out another heavy breath, she could almost hear Okita’s voice teasing her—What are you sighing for, Chizuru-chan? Don’t you know that I might have to kill you for looking so unhappy?
But he wasn’t here, and neither were any of her old friends.
Chizuru was alone, and lost.
Stop, Chizuru. Don’t think like that. Negativity was no stranger to her now. She could barely even go through the motions of her daily tea routine without thoughts and voices from the past lingering in the back of her mind.
Each morning she woke up to felt like night, a darkness shrouding over mind like the shadows of the weeping willows in Kyoto. Heavy as it was, she still forced herself to get up from her futon and face each day. She had to live, because as much as she sometimes wished that it was all but a dream, it was reality. She had to live, for those who didn’t.
You have to live, like they wanted you to.
She reached for the broken pieces of the clay cup, but a jagged piece slipped through her palm and slashed through the skin. Chizuru let out an instinctive gasp in pain and dropped the broken pottery again, watching as the blood welled from her hand and dripped over her arm. The bright red droplets struck her with a sense of deja vu, and suddenly she was transported back years before. There she was in front of the well at the Shinsengumi compound washing dishes when she had cut her finger in a similar way, and Heisuke, Heisuke-kun, had been confronted with his Rasetsu bloodlust for the first time.
But it didn’t just stop there. The sight and smell of her blood continued to reveal a torrent of memories that washed over her with a vivid brightness—memories that she had been trying to repress every day. That alley in Kyoto during a snowfall, the smell of blood and the high-pitched laughter of a monster in the air. The brilliant scarlet that seemed to flood the streets of Kyoto after Kinmon no Hen, mixed with the smell of smoke and ash from the fires.
That flowering cherry blossom tree in Hakodate, the spiderweb of blood across her hand transforming into a river that flowed into the ground from a man’s body.
“Look, Hijikata-san. It’s the Flag of Sincerity that everyone worked so hard to raise.”
—
She had no idea how long she stayed under that beautiful, cursed cherry blossom tree. Seconds, minutes, hours—time meant nothing to her anymore. The only thing that she knew of was that at that moment, he was gone. As the war raged on, Chizuru had felt herself becoming alarmingly numb to loss. She had become almost accustomed to seeing the dead lay on the ground through each city they trekked through, and the snippets of conversations she overheard no shook her like they used to. A hundred of our men, lost at Bonari Pass seemed like normal war talk now. But being surrounded by death and devastation didn’t make it any easier though. Losing her father, her friends, and her family had pierced through her heart, and she couldn’t think of a night that she hadn’t cried herself to sleep for the past few months.
Losing Heisuke and Sannan had broken her for days—she still felt partially responsible for the creation of the Ochimizu, and it pained her to know that she would never laugh with Heisuke again, or see Sannan’s cunning smile. Okita and Kondou had felt like some kind of sick joke from God, the two of them leaving this world in ways that were unfit for the two strongest warriors she knew. Harada, the man who had a spirit so loud and noble that somehow could make everyone smile, was now someone she would never hear from again. Every one of her friends’ deaths wrecked her heart open in ways that she didn’t know it could bleed. But losing him was different. She had held Hijikata’s body in her arms long after his eyes closed and the last traces of warmth left him, her tears dripping endlessly down her cheeks and onto his bloodied uniform.
She didn’t know what to do without him.
For the past five years, he had been a constant presence in her life. Chizuru had first come to depend on him for protection and stability; to the girl that had somehow landed into the Shinsengumi headquarters, Hijikata had been downright scary. His steely violet eyes seemed to read straight through her every time he caught her outside of her room, and she felt secondhand fear every time that she saw the way that he tolerated no sort of disobedience from his soldiers and punished those who strayed from the Shinsengumi’s code with injury or worse. But then as those first few months somehow stretched into years, Chizuru’s fear slowly faded and her days and memories began to fill with so many other emotions and experiences with Hijikata. Even though she spent her days with all of the different captains of the Shinsengumi, it was somehow always Hijikata that was by her side when she needed it the most.
Hijikata, who had shielded and fought against Kazama for her, his arm wrapped around her and her kodachi in the other. Hijikata, who was uncharacteristically fussy about his long, beautiful jet-black hair, and had yet allowed her to comb and tie it back while he had worked. Hijikata, who secretly wrote poetry with a smile on his face when no one was looking. Hijikata, who had taken her to a restaurant after a festival in Kyoto, and had paid for what was a surprisingly luxurious meal for what he had gruffly described as “just a thank you, you’ve been a big help”.
Hijikata, who had drank the Ochimizu that her father had created, and gave up his humanity to protect her from Kazama and to stand up for his values.
Their initial relationship as a page and superior had been awkward at best, and trust had been slow to develop. But after 5 years, the realization came to her so suddenly that she had almost fallen over herself: she was in deeply love with him. Her heart ached to always be near him and she loved to hear her name roll off his tongue—secretly, she thought that sounded more beautiful than she had ever heard it said. Chizuru had never had anything more than innocent crushes and dates when she had lived with Kodo in Edo, but her emotions and heart felt so strongly towards this person that she was certain that this was love, and a love that she knew would not come easily.
And of course it didn’t, because the man her heart had fallen in love with was like a force of a demon himself. Demon Vice Commander of the Shinsengumi, Hijikata Toshizou. Hijikata Toshizou, who was feared but adored by equally as many. Hijikata who was the talk of the town at times, with his long black hair that he refused to cut and high cheekbones that seemed to only accentuate his piercing gaze. Chizuru knew that he was a handsome man, some even saying he looked as if he had walked out of a wood-block painting, but she found more merit in the Hijikata she knew. His dedication, his resilience, his loyalty, and his love ran deeper than anyone else would ever know.
He had chosen her. And then he had left her.
Memories and concern for Hijikata filled her mind and thoughts endlessly for the months she stayed by herself alone in Sendai. She knew that he had left her in Sendai for her own safety; a young woman had no place in a war after all, but it was maddening. Chizuru knew she was no good on the battlefield and defenseless against a gun, but being left behind crushed her more than she could have ever imagined. She had no idea if she would ever see him again—dead or alive. What had happened to Kondou was something she very well knew could be something that could happen to Hijikata. But once she received the letter from Ootori, she had hastened to Ezo with her heart thudding in her chest with every thought that she was one step closer to seeing Hijikata again. No matter the hurt and pain that lay ahead of them, she knew that she had to be by his side.
And it had been so worth it. For a few months, despite knowing the pain and suffering that lay ahead of them, she had been happier than ever, just to be by his side. From the moment of their reunion, Chizuru was able to see his actions and words in so much more clarity. The bitter hoarseness in his voice when he yelled at his troops was not conveying anger, but worry to please come back alive. His scowl on his face when he worked long nights was not just because he was frustrated to shoulder this burden, but because he didn’t want anyone else to take the fall for the secret messages he was sending. He was the strongest person she had ever met, yet also the kindest and gentlest at the same time as well. In those few short months, Chizuru witnessed all sides of Hijikata and learned just how soft his hands could be on her hair, or the warmth of his embrace during the occasional nights that he did not work until dawn and allowed her to stay in the room with him.
If she could shoulder some of his pain and suffering, Chizuru had thought, then that was enough purpose for her to keep existing. If her blood was truly as powerful as Sanan and Kodo had alluded, then she would use it all and anything else in her power to keep him alive.
But he was gone, and she had failed. Maybe he would survived if she let him drink her dry, but Hijikata Toshizou was never the kind of person who would save himself at the expense of someone else. Makoto, he would say. Sincerity, which was the foundation for the Shinsengumi’s core beliefs. One had to be sincere and true to himself as a warrior and as a man to the end. Hijikata Toshizou had chosen his path. He chose to use his remaining life force to protect her from Kazama, and protect the beliefs that he had loved and carried for so long. He had died a warrior, and she knew that the Shinsengumi and all that he had fought for was finally at rest with him as well.
The two of them had known that this was a possibility from the start; the war was drawing to a close, and they were fighting a losing battle in Hakodate. Chizuru knew from the way Hijikata shook with anger and pain his sleep, or the scowl on his face every time he walked into the room from another meeting. She had always had some hope that maybe, just maybe, they would prevail and the two of them would find a future together.
But there was no place in this world for the two of them.
In a rush of scattered cherry blossoms, another individual had appeared under the tree—Amagiri. Polite as always, the red-haired demon he had greeted her with a formal bow before speaking. Since Kazama had strayed from the way of a demon and had continued to meddle with humans against his Clan warnings, he no longer could be laid to rest with his ancestors. Amagiri had come to bury Kazama’s body—and if Chizuru would like, Hijikata as well. How Amagiri knew that Kazama had died was some Demon logic that Chizuru knew was simply beyond her, but in that moment, she had been oddly relieved. Chizuru had always been a sensible girl, and even in times of crisis, she had a way of forcing herself to function. Even though burying Hijikata was exactly the last thing she wanted at that very moment, this was war. If they did not bury him now, his body would be discovered by troops and dragged out as a trophy to mark the fall of the Shinsengumi. She would have rather herself die than allow that to happen, but there was no way that she alone could have ever found the strength, physical and emotional, to bury him.
So she had let Amagiri dig two graves underneath that beautiful cherry blossom tree to lay both Kazama and Hijikata to rest. At Chizuru’s request, Amagiri dug Hijikata’s grave on the other side of the tree, away from Kazama’s; she knew that he would abhor being buried directly next to the demon he had spent years fighting. She took her final last glance at the man she had loved in the earth—his eyes closed, dark hair framing his face, swords crossed over his body, looking more peaceful and well-rested than she had ever seen him—and then turned away, unable to look as Amagiri completed the burial process.
Chizuru had been so consumed with grief that what happened afterwards was a blur. When she admitted she didn’t have an idea of her next move, Amagiri had simply stated, “It would be unwise to allow a woman to travel alone.” He had accompanied her to Hakodate, where she collected the rest of their personal belongings and relayed the news of Hijikata’s passing to Ootori. They then traveled to Yase, where Osen had been waiting; news of Kazama’s battle against a fake Demon had spread fast in the Demon world, and she had immediately sought to take Chizuru under the protection of the Yase Demon Clan. Chizuru had little memory of the months she spent in Yase; she only remembered grief and sorrow. News of the defeat of the Shogunate army and the rise of the Meiji Restoration flitted into
the Demon village over the next few months, but none of it meant anything to Chizuru. Hijikata was gone. Okita was gone. Heisuke, Sannan, Kondou, Harada…her life as she had known it, and all the people that had made it were gone. She heard nothing about Saito and Nagakura, but it hurt too much to hope. But after a few months of moping and living like a shell, Chizuru decided that she wanted to return to her home in Edo—well, Tokyo, now. She still had a home there, after all, and as kind as Osen and the demon clan of Yase was, it was not her home. So after six long years, Chizuru had finally returned to the old house that she had used to live with her father. Kodo, the man she had thought was her father. It had taken her almost a full two weeks to clean out all of the dust and vermin that had accumulated in the space over almost half a decade, but she had never been one to shy away from hard work. Rather, she had thrown herself into it, desperate for something, anything to do, to keep her mind busy and away from her thoughts. What quite honestly should have been work for two or three, she had completed in an astonishingly short time.
Chizuru had cleaned and changed the house to be more of a modest one fit to her needs; she had sold away most of their belongings, and kept only the essentials of what she needed. In this exchange and cleanup, Chizuru had dug out her women's clothes, but quickly found that many of her old kimonos in her closet no longer fit her—and well, of course they didn’t. She had last been a growing sixteen-year-old girl the last time she had worn them, and now she was a twenty-one year old woman. The hems that had once grazed her feet were now hanging above the ankles, and the silk was tight around her new curves and defined muscle she had developed after years of patrolling and running around Kyoto.
It was a strange and painful reminder that so much had changed.
Crafty as she was, Chizuru had loosened the seams and sewn together some of the cloth to create a couple of kimonos that fit her, so she could finally retire her pale peach hakamashita and hakama into storage. How strange for her to finally fold and lay those clothes away, although quite honestly she should have reduced them to rags. The silk had been patched and restitched over and over with years of wear and tear, but part of herself could not simply bear to toss that part of her life away. Instead, she had neatly folded it up and placed it into a box, next to her tattered Western military uniform. Her kodachi was racked on display in the bedroom, close enough to where she could grab it, but Chizuru sorely hoped that she would never need to touch that blade again.
But what was she doing here in Tokyo? What would she be doing, for the rest of her life? She had no idea. Chizuru knew that her existence and troubles as a female Demon did not end with Kazama’s death; Osen had been sure to warn her of it, and had strongly cautioned her against returning to Tokyo alone. But despite the lack of a clear direction in her future, and the dangers of traveling and living alone, Chizuru knew that she needed some sort of normalcy. She didn't want to think of Demons, of Rasetsu, of Ochimizu, of war and blood and death—she wanted to grieve alone, quietly, away from all that had pained her.
She was here, living and trying to bury her past life behind, but it always seemed to follow her.
She was just here. Existing, living. Drinking tea on her front porch, although her current cup was now smashed to smithereens and the tea was seeping into the hardwood. That painful memory hung heavily on her heart, and she wiped away tears from her face with her unbloodied hand, although the wound was already well on its way to healing. Maybe she would go into the town today to get some new teacups along with her daily groceries for meals; she still had a hard time stomaching food at times, but Chizuru knew she needed to keep her strength up. She wanted to start a garden in the back as well, to save her coin for fresh vegetables for when she needed it. Ootori had paid her well for her time and escape, but she knew it wouldn’t last forever. At some point, she would need to recoup her finances and find work to sustain herself.
But for today, she wanted to be normal. As normal as she could be.
Live, Chizuru.
I am living, Hijikata-san.
Chizuru stood up and stepped outside, tilting her head up to the sky. A slight breeze fanned across her face, and she inhaled the air deep into her lungs. Even though it was well into fall, she thought for the briefest moment, she smelled the sweet scent of cherry blossoms. Maybe today would be a good day.

Summary: Set after the events in the manga. Gintoki finds himself in despair and confusion after he finally realizes his feelings.
Characters: Gintoki, Hijikata, Tsukuyo, Kagura, Okita Sogo, Shinpachi
Warning: Contains a bit of violence, and explicit languages
A/N: The story will be in multiple parts, but not sure how many but maybe around 7, I think. This is also a mixture of a bit angst, fluff, humor, romance. And lastly, it’s my first time writing a fanfic for an anime, so I’m sorry if I may not much knowledge about some terms or something when writing a fanfic for anime OTL.
Chapter 1/6
It was a bleak autumn night. I looked up the sky and only saw darkness, not even solitary star in sight. I sighed in disbelief, why would I expect some change of weather when I just watched Ketsuno Ana’s weather report in the morning. After some minutes of walking, I arrived at my favorite local restaurant.
“Ara, Gin-san, it’s good to see you again. How long has it been?” the late owner’s wife still welcomed me the usual.
“Three years is not that long obaa-chan.” I replied nonchalantly as she served me my favorite Uji Gintoki-don. Then she started telling me that I still have a long way to go and I am still young and all that.
Young huh.
Well, even though I am almost thirty, oh wait, I just turned thirty last month. So, am I still in the age bracket to call young’uns? I still have plenty of things in mind that I need to forget. The elders have it easy. They are in the stage where they can just tell, ‘I forgot. Must have been old age. Or something like that. The only thing I can think of that can help me forget. SAKE. Good thing this restaurant also serves sake. I immediately finished my meal and was almost in my third bottle of sake, when I heard the name I was not totally expecting to hear. No, it will be weird if I did not expect even a bit.
“Hijikata-san! Long time no see. I’m happy to see both you and Gin-san are doing fine.” The granny greeted the gruffly looking fellow. We do have unique taste after all, and this is the only the restaurant that caters special meals to their patrons.
“It’s not yet 10 in the evening and yet here you are drinking. You got a big reward this afternoon that you wanted to spend all on alcohol? I pity those two kids not knowing that thei—"
I glared and punched him hard on the face.
“Oi, what’s wrong with you?!” He growled and almost punched me back. But he held back. He returned to his seat and started eating his ‘dog food’, the granny just gave him. When he finished, he lighted one of his cigarettes with his mayonnaise shaped lighter and blew the smoke on my face.
“You bastard!” I coughed and almost choked with what he did.
“Spill it out. You are hiding something right? I knew there was something different from you since afternoon. Your eyes were different.” He said while smirking. This scumbag!
I ignored his statement and continued drinking. Nothing good will come if I talk to him. Ignore him Gintoki. He is just some mayora in uniform.
He suddenly grabbed my collar and started shouting at my face. “Oi! I’m talking to you curly haired bastard!”
I shrugged him off. “You officers really like violence huh?! Fine, I’ll talk, after I get drunk.” I gulped another cup of sake. There is no way I am telling him this while I am sober. Damn. I wanted to carry this secret to my grave. Oh well. What can I do? There is nothing I can do now that I have realized my own feelings. After a few more cups, I felt like I am already drunk. I muttered.
“I… love…the kid…”
“Huh?! What do you mean kid? I don’t get you. Can you speak in English?” demanded mayo addict with a cigarette still between his fingers. Ugh. What a pain in the ass.
I collected all my thoughts and breathe in and out slowly. “I am in love with Kagura. Damn it!” I finally told him, slamming my fist on the table.

Commissions Redux
Hi Folks!
This has been copied from my main blog and cleaned up a bit, since I’m trying to separate the fan stuff from the main to keep something like a semblance of an order. Commissions are therefore moved from Mana-chan’s Corner to here. They are still open and perfectly free, just read the rules, please. In case you wish to support me, you can do either of these things:
» Leave a Tip
» Buy Me a Coffee
As I am currently jobless (thank you Corona) every bit is appreciated.
» Full Update
For a long time I didn’t take any commissions because the fandoms and pairings I have inspiration for is a limited fraction of my active fandoms (i.e. the fandoms I engage with via reading fic, commenting, enjoying content, reblogging, etc.) and I didn’t want to disappoint.
Recently, in an unexpected strike of utter genius (which only took me like... 5 years to work out), I had the epiphany to compile a list of fandoms+pairings I’d be more than happy to write as you desire.
» Commission Rules/FAQ. Please read before commissioning.
» For full list of available fandoms/genres click below.
» Fandoms
» The Untamed | Mo Dao Zu Shi
The most recent fandom, also the one that currently dominates my mind.
Including: CQL, Novel, Movies. I haven’t read a lot of the source material, but I’m intending to and I already did some research. For now I think I prefer a mix of canons.
» Pairings
» Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian
» Jiang Cheng & Wei Wuxian (mostly gen, but I believe I could do something sexual/romantic as well, but please ask first if you have any specific ideas)
» Jiang Cheng/Wen Qing (please read the rules)
» Jiang Cheng/Wen Ning (tentative)
» Nie Mingjue/Wei Wuxian
» Nie Mingjue/Lan Xichen (tentative, though I mostly see myself as writing them on the side)
» Any version of the 3zun (same as above)
» Lan Xichen/Wei Wuxian
» Jin Zixuan/Wei Wuxian
» Specific Canons / Prompts
The Untamed basically exploded over my head and didn’t leave me alone. In the past few months a few plotbunnies developed which I’d all love to write at one point. You can chose to prompt me either of these or pick any general prompt, or anything you’d like to read, as long as it aligns with what I can write.
» The First Witness
Genre: Case Fic, Modern AU, Canon retell, Drama, Tragedy, Romance, M/M
Pairings: WWX/LWJ
Includes: Forensic Medical Examiner Wei Wuxian, Inspector Lan Wangji, Single Dad Wei Wuxian, Wei Sizhui / Wen Yuan, the dead ones are dead, Badass Grandmother Baoshan Sanren, Yunmeng Bros Reconciliation, Businessman Jiang Cheng, Murder Mystery, Pining, Getting Together, HIV positive character, past off-screen rape (mentioned only). It’s basically what it says, a canon retell wrapped in a modern day case fic. It was the first thing that I had inspiration for.
» Nurse Wei Wuxian slice of life Modern AU
Genre: Modern AU, slice of life, recovery, drama, tragedy, adoption, M/M, hurt & comfort, getting together, romance, fluff
Pairings: WWX/LWJ
Includes: pediatric nurse Wei Wuxian, pediatric nurse MianMian, elementary school teacher Lan Wangji, pediatrician Lan Xichen, intense care nurse Jiang Yanli, intense care doctor Wen Qing, teacher’s aide Wen Ning, Yunmeng reconciliation, only some are dead, Wen family+WWX living together.
Premise: Former convict Wei Wuxian, fresh out of nursing school, applies for a job at Dr. Lan Xichen’s pediatric practice. Lan Xichen (who sometimes takes pro bono foster children abuse cases) isn’t quite sold on the idea of a former felon turned nurse attending to already traumatized children, but upon interview decides to give WWX a chance. Not only does he never regret it, it turns out it’s to be the best decision he’s ever made, not only in regards to his practice. Meddling ensues, love blossoms, truths are revealed, happy end. Probably the fluffiest story on the list.
» ABO Yunmeng Shuanjie Fake Marriage AU
Not what you think. Does not involve pseudo-incest (at least not for a long time, haven’t decided on the end results yet). First ABO I’ve ever considered writing, but all the more exciting, since I know now what I want of it.
Pairing: WWX/LWJ (temporal, non-endgame - so far, platonic), WWX & JC (gen, ruling partners)
Includes: fake marriage, extra marital affair, male pregnancy, abo (mostly non-traditional, I think?), not actual pseudo incest, adoption, canon divergence, not everybody dies, Wen Chao being a monster, sexual assault (interrupted), golden core loss, NO golden core transfer, misunderstandings, complicated political situations, the Wens are saved and live in Lotus Pier, a-Yuan is still adopted, “sometimes love is not enough”
Premise: shortly after concluding the studies at Cloud Recesses LWJ starts courting WWX. Engagement is discussed between the two clans, but the Wen indoctrination and the burning of the Cloud Recesses gets in between. When LWJ refuses to lie in order to save WWX from Wen Chao’s assault, JC steps in and pretends to be the one engaged to WWX to save his brother from a forced bond. To prevent this from being debunked and to ensure a future marriage (which will now be more challenging to achieve, given the state of Cloud Recesses), LWJ and WWX mate and bond in the Xuanwu cave. Then Lotus Pier is sacked, JC loses his golden core, the Jiangs are dead and the Yunmeng siblings flee for their lives, find refuge in Yiling, etc. Plays out as in canon except they find out WWX is pregnant and transferring the golden core would cause an abortion. WWX still says do it, but changes his mind in the last minute, leading to JC finding out about his plan upon waking up and remaining coreless. They flee to Meishan and marry to protect WWX’s reputation (since a marriage would now be impossible for a long time on both sides - Gusu and Yunmeng, AND JC needs WWX more than ever and WWX is not abandoning his little brother) Sunshot happens, WWX invents the control tower & still saves the Sunshot campaign. The sixteen years that follow are utter chaos.
» Nie Mingjue/Wei Wuxian arranged marriage AU
You know what this is inspired by.
Pairing: Nie Mingjue/Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian (unfullfilled, for a long time)
Includes: arranged marriage, some characters die, Nie Mingjue dies but later, revenge, wwx adopts a-yuan, canon divergence, slow burn, learning to love, the Wens live, political intrigues, wwx and nhs teaming up against jgy
Premise: To save the Wens and himself from qi deviation Wei Wuxian marries Nie Mingjue (in spite of being in love with LWJ). Slowly some truths are revealed and feelings blossom but some tragedies cannot be prevented. NMJ realizes the feelings that are between WWX and LWJ, but they both marry regardless. Later WWX realizes that NMJ is similarly in love with Lan Xichen. With time they learn to love and respect each other, NMJ learns about what WWX did for JC, WWX learns clarity to play for NMJ when JGY nearly succeeds killing him (WWX suspects but he has no proof). NMJ still dies (disappears) and widower WWX spends the next decade or so seeking revenge and searching for his husband’s body so that he can rest in peace. It’s all very bittersweet, but there’s a happy ending.
» Hakuouki + Extended Universe
The longest active and steadiest fandom. I know exactly what I’ll write and what not.
Including characters from: Urakata, Toki no Kizuna, the most recent overhauls (Kyoto Winds, Edo Blossoms). I’ve seen all three anime seasons, played a few routes of Kyoto Winds and read some walkthroughs. I’m not completely done with all of them, but I’ll take the time to research if the commission demands it.
» Pairings
» Harada Sanosuke/Nagakura Shinpachi (I lovingly refer to them as my naval battle cruiser)
» Harada Sanosuke/Shiranui Kyou
» Shiranui Kyou/Takasugi Shinsaku
» Kondou Isami/Hijikata Toushizou (tentative)
» Hijikata Toushizou/Saitou Hajime (tentative)
» Nagakura Shinpachi/Saitou Hajime
» Saitou Hajime/Toudou Heisuke
» Yukimura Chizuru/Sen-hime
» Ibuki Ryuunosuke/Kosuzu (please read the rules)
» Specific Canons / Prompts:
I’ve had a number of inspirations for this, which I’ve never written, but would love to delve into. You can chose to prompt me either of these or, of course, pick a general prompt.
» Fabulous Family Series
The one in progress, you can check it out on AO3. You can prompt me in this, if there’s something you’d like to read.
Pairings (current and planned): Harada/Nagakura, Kondou/Hijikata, Okita/Chizuru (casual), Heisuke/Saitou, Takasugi/Shiranui, Chizuru/Sen-chan, Ibuki/Kosuzu, Ibuki->Saitou (one-sided crush), Saitou/Chizuru (temporal)
Tags: adoption, modern AU, lgbtq+ issues, M/M, genderfluid character, disabled character (future), teenage pregnancy (future), slice of life, sexual assault (future), child abuse (future reveal), romance, ace/aro character, casual sex, underage sex,
» Gender Swap AU
Main Ship: Harada/Nagakura
Side Ship: Ibuki/Kosuzu
Summary: Sannan secretly tests a version of his experimental Ochimizu on a few of the captains. The result is that the new day dawns with some drastic changes to their bodies that have nothing to do with white hair, glowing eyes or bloodthirst, but with a whole other set of complications.
Premise: Original story was supposed to be about Shinpachi developing and unexpected attraction to Sano, them “experimenting” together and Sano falling pregnant. While the others manage to turn back to their original bodies, Sano doesn’t and it is all very complicated. Eventually he does (after giving birth), but instead of it being a good thing it just makes things more complicated. In the end, he choses to live in a female body instead of death and marries Shinpachi. Would include trans issues, gender dysphoria, friendship vs. love, the nature of attraction, respect, feminism and female issues. I wanted to write it as a multi-chapter, but never got around to it. But I’d love to put it out there in any form I can.
» Prince of Tennis
Tentatively putting this down as one of my oldest fandoms. I never wrote for it as cosistently as with other fandoms, but a few years back I rp-ed it for quite a while and could probably still write for it, if the pairing’s right.
Including: ShinTeniPuri characters up to Pirates and Black Holes (I haven’t read much further, but I’ll probably catch up at one point? I always do.)
» Pairings / Characters (mostly Shitenhouji and Higa centric)
» Oshitari Kenya/Shiraishi Kuranosuke
» Oshitari Kenya/Chitose Senri
» Oshitari Kenya & Oshitari Yuushi (gen, ask me about cest)
» Shishido Ryou/Oishi Shuuichirou
» Oshitari Yuushi/Kikumaru Eiji
» Oshitari Yuushi/Hirakoba Rin (this relates to that rp)
» Kai Yuujirou & Hirakoba Rin (both gen and slash)
» Kite Eishirou/Hirakoba Rin
» Watanabe Osamu/Sakaki Tarou
» Higa gen
» Shitenhouji gen and casual relationships (ask me about specific ones)
» Hara Tetsuya/Taira Yoshiyuki
» Mori Juuzaburou & Hara Tetsuya (mostly gen, but I probs could do casual slash as well)
» Ochi Tsukimitsu/Mori Juuzaburou
» Marui Bunta/Hara Tetsuya (you will never get this, but it derives from that rp I did and would still def write it if people are interested)
» Tango Pair (Sanada Genichirou/Atobe Keigo)
» Specific Canons / Prompts
Most of what I had in my head has faded but a few things remained. Of course you can also come with your own prompt at me.
» College AU, future fic
Premise: Everyone has grown up and moved on. The Oshitari cousins are now rooming together, both studying medicine at Tokyo University. They’re upper neighbors with Shishido Ryou (paedagogy) and Oishi Shuuichirou (medicine), who both miss their doubles partners, but have seemingly moved on from their middle school days and broken hearts. No such thing can be said about Kenya, who can’t get over his break up with Shiraishi following their graduation, or Yuushi, who seems to hold secrets of his own.
I haven’t developed much for this, most of it are scattered ideas, but I’d love to explore it. I’ve thought of some pairings for it, but none of them final. It would also leave a lot of room for casual stuff or one-night stands. It’s actually an ideal prompt premise, from that standpoint.
Pairings (at start, no necessarily final): Oshitari Kenya/Shiraishi Kuranosuke (past), Oishi Shuuichirou/Shishido Ryou (current), Oishi Shuuichirou/Kikumaru Eiji (past), Shishido Ryou/Ootori Choutarou (past), Oshitari Yuushi/Kikumaru Eiji (current, secret),
» It takes two to Tango / Tango towards Destruction
An old fic that was supposed to be a series which I never finished, but could pick it up and remaster it. It’d be a nostalgia project.
Pairing: Tango Pair
Premise: Atobe’s father finds out about him and Sanada dating and threatens to disown him if they don’t break up. In the original Atobe runs away, but I’m thinking now he simply might not take it seriously enough and then it would escalate. He ends up moving in with the Sanada family. Your typical rich boy loses everything and struggles through poverty, finding meaning, building a life for himself, coming off age.
» One Piece
A fandom older than even TeniPuri it’s been with me the longest. Unfortunately it doesn’t inspire me anymore the way it used to, but I’d still be able to write some things for it, if the right muse struck me. I kinda want to. Nostalgia, you know.
» Pairings
» Zoro/Sanji
» Ace/Zoro
» Ace/Sanji
» Luffy/Law (tentative, like, I ship them hard but I don’t know if I’d be able to write something for them? Oh but I’d like to try)
» Mihawk/Shanks
» Mihawk & Zoro & Perona family dynamics
» Zeff & Sanji adopted family dynamics
» Usopp & Yasopp gen
» Izo? I’d like to try an Izo.
» Canons
» Canonverse
Set in the original canon of the fandom.
Including (not limited to): backstory - past canon, present canon, future fic (please specify), canon divergence
» Modern AU
Including (not limited to): no powers, modern with magic (potential, please ask), slice of life, mystery, case fic, ‘job AU’ (coffee shop, doctors, idols, etc., please specify/ask)
» Sci-fi AU
Including: original sci-fi canon, Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, Dune (tentative), Hyperion (tentative), for everything else ask. I know a lot of sci-fi, but not enough lore for each of them to set a story in. I might be interested but it'd necessitate research.
» High Fantasy AU
Including (not limited to): original fantasy canon, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Witcher, but overall I’d prefer if you ask about this. I haven’t read/seen a lot of the most recent and popular franchises (mostly because I’m writing my own high fantasy and don’t want it to be too influenced by other things, and someone already told me it sounds like Game of Thrones, so that one’s a big no. Sorry...)
» No Powers, other than modern AU
Including (not limited to): everything that doesn’t fall under the modern AU list, but has no powers in it, i.e. historical AU (specify time & culture), future AU (near & far), cyberpunk dystopia (possibly), post-apocalyptic (possibly). I don’t write zombies.
» Superpowers / Hero AU
Including (not limited to): X-Men, Avengers, Wildstorm Universe, original superhero canon
» Genres
I do mostly serious stuff, like drama, tragedy, intrigues, arranged marriage, tragic backstory, etc. I like to put my characters through a lot of suffering. I always joke that it’s very easy to spot my favorite character by the amount of torture I put them through. I feel that it makes the happy ending weigh even more. Sometimes I even prefer a bad ending, if it gives the story more meaning (I mean, imagine LotR trilogy have a happy ending. It would totally take away all the development and the lessons the characters went through.) I wish I could write light stuff but so far I have not succeeded. I use a lot of sarcasm and irony though?
My shorter fics tend to be fluffy and sweet rather than funny, if full of playful banter and teasing. Relationships are usually depicted in a naturalistic rather than romantic way (I’m ace/aro myself, and I have lots of opinions about the nature of love and attraction, and how a functioning relationship ideally looks like and it tends to seep into my writing). Instead of traditional romance I like to write a non-traditional one. Slow burn, instead of love on first sight. Learning to love instead of falling hard. But it also depends on the pairing. I can write most things if I put my mind to it, so don’t hesitate to prompt me and I’ll let you know whether it works for me or not.
I’m not shy of dealing with child abuse, assault, suicidal ideation, trauma, disability and other difficult topics in my writing, so if you wanna request any of these or something similar I’m a-okay with it, as long as you discuss it with me. I’m not knowledgeable in everything so it’s likely I’ll need to do research, but I’m more than alright with it. Honestly, it’s very probable that I’d love to try.
» Kinks
I’m okay with most stuff. Where I draw the line is the really hardcore stuff like scat and kinks involving feces, some forms of humiliation, zoophilia, necrophilia, mutilation, stuff like that.
I’m alright with both dub-con & non-con (although I refuse to depict is as normalized, or glorified), bondage, s&m, dom/sub, light bdsm (ask me about the harder stuff. I’m not against it, I’m just not always in the mood or right mindset for writing it), omorashi (tentative, ask me), daddy kink, breath play, age play, spanking, verbal humiliation, dirty talk, edging, come eating, orgasm denial,... all the good stuff.

The Baka trio, Saito, Okita, and Yamazaki as Youtubers!! Pls!! I know it’s a weird request but if you don’t mind ❤️
Dude no I love this?! Haku Youtubers yes please 😂
Heisuke:
Vine compilations, most of them his own vines
The death of Vine was one of the greatest tragedies of his life
Luckily he backed up everything, especially the elaborate pranks he likes to pull on Shinpachi
It got to the point where Shin would spot Heisuke with his phone out to record, start freaking out, and that was the bit
He’s absolutely hilarious
Exactly once made the mistake of trying to prank Toshi by sticking notes on his back. He realized almost immediately and nearly ended Heisuke’s life
That one didn’t get posted
Okita:
Weird, abstract short videos that no one understands and all of his followers over-analyze
Shaky 30-second clips of him walking in a public place and talking deadpan into the camera about a vague subject
Tons of comment chains on his videos full of his fan’s theories
Has his own subreddit
Almost never replies to fan comments, but will like one once in a while just to watch people go apeshit over it
He’s basically a troll
Shinpachi:
Look
If you think this man doesn’t run a workout channel connected to his fitness Insta, boy do I have news for you
Teaches people about cut/bulk cycles and debunks fad diets
Reviews protein shakes
Makes bank on his channel and gets lots of good sponsors
Has a small production team, including two cute fitness models who help demonstrate lifting techniques in his videos. He knows what gets views
He’s actually a total natural at content creation, has a great mind for business
Sanosuke:
Runs a laid-back personal channel where he just vlogs and gives commentary on social issues. Does an occasional remote from his car
His personality is super friendly and open. He always makes viewers feel like they’re just having a conversation with a friend
Instantly likable to anyone who stumbles on his channel
Super interactive with his followers, replying to sincere comments whenever he has the time, so he has a really loyal fan base
Also has an amazing voice, so some people low-key use him for ASMR
Definitely gets approached for an Audible sponsorship
Yamazaki:
Runs one of those study channels for bio and pre-med majors
Never have so many confused AP students finally understood transcription and translation
Makes quick shortcut videos for human anatomy and physiology; has a fully articulated human skeleton in his room (the ladies love it)
Keeps all of his uploads organized in neat playlists by subject
Has saved so many people at 4 am the morning of an exam
Comments are full of people crying about college and blessing him for making these
Saito:
Has a channel for his swords
Makes those demonstration videos of slicing through various things with various weapons followed by slo-mo repeat
Never talks in any of his vids
Just a man quietly stabbing things
Later expands into more of a martial arts training channel
Recruits partners from his kendo group to demonstrate sword fighting techniques with him, occasionally hands-on stuff like holds
There’s a fair amount of thirst in his comments section

OkiKagu High School!AU
Where Mistuba is alive and she and Hijikata are married, and so are Kondo and Otae-san, and with the former’s closeness with Kondo are basically in-laws with Otae-san, which means being in-laws with Shinpachi and the rest of Yoruzuya Family, and the three families are basically neighbors. So basically a happy!AU where Mitsuba gets to meet Kagura and basically plays knowing matchmaker on her and her precious So-chan.
Kagura and Sougo first meet at Kondo and Otae’s wedding and of course it’s hate at first sight. Kagura is in middle school, Shinpachi a freshman, and Sougo a junior in high school (Soyo-Hime is the daughter of the emperor so she goes to a private girl’s school, but she and Kagura remain the best of friends), and they’re all schoolmates.
In this AU, Sougo has friends around his age (not that he’d ever admit it upon pain of death) and Mitsuba being alive softens him, so he’s still a Super S, but not as plagued with darkness.
I imagine the family dinners to be rowdy and a lot of fun (except that between Otae and Mitsuba, most likely no one will survive).
Mitsuba finally understands the feeling Sougo has in relation to Hijikata and why he tries to murder him with laxatives every morning (of course she’d notice, honestly So-chan), not the murdering part because Kagura is a perfectly lovely girl that knows how to put So-chan in his place whenever needed (obviously the women are at the top of the hierarchy in this family system), but she feels a slight wistfulness that her younger brother might soon be taken from her. Not that it’ll be happening anytime soon unless the two of them evolve from playground mentality.
Of course So-chan doesn’t notice, and Mitsuba only noticed herself when one kendo match, she saw him make a rude face and gesture at Kagura-chan (she’d have to lecture him about that), before giving his customary smile and bow at her. Before she was the only one he could find among the people in the stands like that.
They both graduate at the same time, Sougo from High School and Kagura from Middle School, and it’s basically the farewell on the bridge as Sougo’s university is quite far from their hometown, and he wants to study to eventually become a police officer like Hijikata-san and Kondo-san. Mitsuba watches with nostalgic eyes, and though it’s more vitriolic, she remembers once upon a time Toshiro-san’s back.
Eventually Sougo comes back, a university student while Kagura’s a freshman in High School. She wears her hair in two odango but leaves some of it loose (there’s a Sailor Moon reference there somewhere). They basically bicker and act like Usagi and Mamoru, and there’s more I want to add, but basically I want a fluffy childhood friends-in laws-happy-domestic-fluffy AU.
(- Sougo is the one to fall in love or at least fall in crush first.
- He is also the first to realize, but the span of time between the falling in love part and realizing part is such a long time because he is a dumbass like that.
- Part of me thinks that Kagura would also eventually aim to be a police officer in this AU so she can help people, like Gin-chan and Shinpachi, and some way or the other, ends up as Okita’s partner on the force. Of course, Sougo hates that but as Hijikata reasons out with a smirk, only the two of them can handle each other. Sougo seethes because obviously his honored sister was the one to put him up to this. Die already useless brother-in-law.)

OkiKagu Fanfiction
Title: Babies Bring the Worst out of People
Summary: Okita Sougo is forced to attend a baby shower held in honor of his and Kagura's first child. The best part? His in-laws can't wait to murder him.
Pairing(s): OkiKagu, hints of KamuSoyo and GinTsu
Rating: M
Chapters: 1/?
A/N: I’ve been wanting to write for my second favorite couple ever! Also, there needs to be more OkiKagu fics in the world! Please let me know what you think. Hope everyone likes it! :)
"I changed my mind; I'm not going."
Kagura looked up from her third bowl full of rice and egg and spared an annoyed glare at her husband. "Yes, you are."
Folding his arms together, Okita replied in a stern voice, "No, I'm not." Naturally, any wife in his time would be a bit tense to hear the man of the house sound so serious. A proper, Japanese woman would obey her husband's words, not defy them.
His wife was neither of those things.
"HAH! It's funny that you think you have a say in anything." The Yato bellowed out in fits of laughter. After another round of knee-slapping and snorting, she went back to shovelling piles of food into her mouth. Disregarding Sougo's unamused look, she went on to prove her firmness on the matter. "Anego worked hard on this baby bath party for us, we have to go."
Okita rolled his eyes. She didn't even know what the damn thing was called. "You mean baby shower."
"Whatever, you're still not getting out of this."
He released a deep sigh and sat next to the frustrating Amanto. Glancing down at her well-rounded stomach, he began to think of ways to convince her to ditch the damn party. The last thing he wanted to do was argue with an irritable, hormonal alien that was capable of sending his ass flying should he piss her off. But he was really not looking forward to seeing a bunch of troublemakers and dealing with the shit-show that was likely to occur. And as bad as the Yorozura and their friends usually were, they were not the reason he wanted to avoid the baby shower.
To his luck, the Boss Lady had thought it would be a great idea to invite Kagura's brother and father to the event. How she even found out how to contact them was beyond him.
It wasn't that he was afraid of his in-laws. It was that he hated them and wished that they would both get lost in space somewhere. For one, Umibouzo was always giving him menacing looks and pandering Kagura to come alien-hunting with him. Then there was that prick Kamui who had attempted to kill him at every given turn. The day before their wedding was a lovely example of how close they had become.
"You're not worthy of mating with my sister if you can't even beat me in a fight." The vermillion-haired man pressed the tip of his umbrella further into his neck, grinning. "As ugly as she is, I still have to protect her dignity as a Yato."
The fight ended right away once China shot a hundred bullets at them. Never mind the prospects of injuring her own groom.
He leaned over to rub her pregnant belly affectionately. Despite the hectic process of dating and marrying the crazy woman, he loved her more each day. His happiness only increased the day she told him that they were expecting their first child. They still had a few more months until she was ready to pop, but he was excited to meet their new son or daughter. Having a new family was always something he secretly wanted. His only regret was that his older sister would not get to shower them with the same love she raised him with.
"Can't you give me a break? I'm the one who gave you this kid." Sougo pulled her away from the table, settling her in between his legs. "Unless you're not telling me something." He joked.
"Relax, Sadist. I've never slept with anyone else and you know it." Kagura rested her head on his chest. "I can give you an exact date that you blew your load into me to prove it."
"So vulgar," Okita smirked. An idea formed in his head, it was likely to fail but worth a shot. He pulled her down with him onto the floor and climbed on top of her. With ease, he unhooked the first few ties on her qipao to reveal her swelling breasts. "I wouldn't mind blowing my load into you right now though. What do you say, China?" He whispered as he peppered kisses all over her neck. She had been consistently horny during her second trimester- not that he was complaining. Maybe he might be able to sway her with the promise of some afternoon nookie?
The Amanto girl pushed him away and straightened out her dress. "I say we get going before Shinpachi and Gin-chan wreck the place." She held her hand out to him, smiling like no tomorrow.
He only groaned and helped her up.
~
By the time that they arrived, Saddaharu in toll, the Shimura house was already filled with familiar faces. Kagura's eyes had lit up tremendously, taking in the hoard of people that were socializing around the estate. It seemed that Anego invited everyone who lived in Kabukicho. Not excluding an abundant amount of friends the Yoruzura had made on their adventures. "Kagura-chan! Okita-san! Welcome!" Otae greeted the couple made their way to the yard where most of the decorations and food were. Blue and pink balloons, streamers, and banners spread out as far as they could see. Why there were even tables filled with all kinds of delicious-looking food!
Sougo snickered, patting the pregnant Yato's shoulder tenderly. "Looks like they've prepared enough for your appetite. Unfortunately, it looks like the rest of the country will have to suffer a shortage for at least a month." His joke earned him a crushed foot, courtesy of his wife's favorite pair of boots.
Ignoring his groans of pain, Kagura eagerly waddled up to the older lady. As excitement burst from her body, she gave her friend a tight hug. "Whoa, Anego! This place looks amazing!" The vermillion haired woman beamed.
The daughter of a samurai smiled and returned her embrace, mindful of her protruding belly. "I'm glad that you like it. We're waiting for a few more guests to arrive and then we'll really start the fun!"
"Who's missing?" Okita grunted, looking around the crowd suspiciously.
Suddenly, several panicked screams and screeches filled the area. The sea of people quickly dispersed as a large, flying ship clouded over them.
"KAGURAAA!"
Fuck.
"Papi!" His wife yelled back, watching in awe as her father and brother jumped off the space vessel. Abuto and a few other of their lackeys joined them as well. Umibouzu landed first, although his balance was thrown off by a loose roof tile. He tumbled comically until he fell face-first at their feet.
The married couple and Otae watched awkwardly as he quickly stood up. "Thank goodness, I made it in time." He coughed into his hand, faking composure. But as soon as he remembered the reason for this reunion, his face brightened up a second later. "How's my precious daughter and grandson?" He cooed while leaning toward her belly.
Okita rolled his eyes. He had purposely ignored him like a damn middle-schooler.
Swatting her father away from her, Kagura snorted. "What makes you so sure that it's a boy?"
"It was foreseen, of course!" The hunter proclaimed smugly.
"They say old men become superstitious when they're approaching their final days." Kamui hummed while striding towards them. "Wouldn't it be better to end you now, though? I'll let you die while with what little wit you have left." He asked with his usual menacing smile.
Abuto chuckled as he and a few other of their men joined them. "Now, now. We promised not to make trouble, right Captain?" Not that he would expect his commander to keep his word, especially when he was surrounded by a few people he had yet to settle a score with.
"Don't worry, I'll be on my best behaviour." Kamui beamed. "You're looking quite healthy, little sister. You too, Policeman." He said with a smirk.
"Likewise, Criminal." Sougo eyed him back.
Ignoring his son's rude interruption, Umibouzu huffed and folded his arms. "Anyways, I did not predict Kagura's first child. It was Kouka."
"Mami did?" Kagura's eyes widened.
"Yes. We once had a long chat about your future, just before…" Her father trailed off with a sad smile. Putting his hand on her shoulder and gave her a tender squeeze. "She said that in her dreams she envisioned you cradling a little boy. And I have never known your mother to be wrong about anything."
Kagura, somewhat stunned but also touched, was left speechless. It was only when Sougo gripped her hand that she awoke from the flashing memories of her dear mother. She hadn't realized that she was already tearing up either. Damn hormones.
Sighing, Kamui turned his heel. "Well, if you're done being sentimental about the past, I'll go and mingle."
"Try anything funny and you're dead." The first division captain called after his departing brother-in-law. He was answered with a wave of dismissal.
Clearing her throat, Otae turned back to her guest of honor. "Kagura-chan, let's get you comfortable. Everyone still needs to greet you." Also, she would very much like to make sure her home was intact.
She nodded excitedly. "Okay! Papi, are you coming?" The pregnant woman asked.
"Later. For now, I think I'll go find that sliver headed idiot. Have fun!" Umibouzu grinned before trotting off as well.
Husband and wife shared a knowing look. They would be lucky if no one died by the end of the night. Personally, Sougo blamed the baby.

Hello! First, I love your writing! It's so good! Second, do you have any other gintama fusion ideas or just gintoshi because I'd love to see more in your style! Obviously, if you're working on other things it's fine, but I wanted to let you know how cool I think the thought you put into them is and I'd love to see more!
Oh my gosh, hi! Hello! Thank you so much for the kind words, I’m so glad that you liked Gintoshi. I had tons of fun writing that fic. So much fun, in fact, that I later went on to write a whole 54 chapters of platonic One Piece fusions, so! I definitely agree, platonic fusions are the BOMB. As of this point in time I am working on other things, and I don’t really have any plans to write any Ao3-worthy Gintama fusions, but that definitely doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about them. You can have these bullet point rambles, though:
I think I mentioned this in the Gintoshi fic itself, but the various members of the Shinsengumi have definitely fused before. Right? I mean, no matter your views about platonic vs romantic fusion, there’s no denying that it’s an instant power-up, and those boys do a lot of fighting. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do, and by that I mean swallow your pride and agree to fuse with your coworker so you’ll both live to see another day.
Hijikata+Kondo (Hijikondo? Konhiji? Konkata??? Names are hard) is pretty stable, pretty chill. “Awkward older cousin who wants to be supportive but doesn’t know you that well and is kinda shy” vibes. But he’s also the very epitome of Lawful Good. He’ll turn on you in a second if he even thinks you’re gonna do or have already done something illegal. And you don’t want him as an enemy, because he can and will lift you with one hand and toss you like a ragdoll.
Hijikata+Okita you also don’t want as an enemy, but unfortunately for you you don’t really have a choice because to him, EVERYONE is an enemy. He’s definitely a more unstable fusion, but one of those ones that you have to work to talk into unfusing. If left to his own devices, he’ll just start swinging until there’s no one left to swing at. The very, very few people he trusts completely (Kondo, Matsuraida, Mitsuba) have his unfailing loyalty though, and if one of them said ‘go jump off a bridge’, he would. Basically what I’m trying to get across is that he acts more on instinct than actual intellect if that makes sense
Kondo+Okita is somewhere between those two extremes. In my head he’s actually kind of similar to Zenzou, the ninja guy??? A sort of scruffy, chaotically unpredictable guy who doesn’t care as much about protecting the law as he does about protecting himself and his people
In one of these ‘fuse to get out of the fight’ situations, Hijikata tried to fuse with Yamazaki. It Did Not Work. They were not compatible. There may have been a few small scale explosions as a result. They never tried to do that again.
Similarly, Gintoki definitely fused with the rest of the Joui Four during the amanto invasion. He’s most stable with Zura, but has no trouble fusing with Sakamoto. He and Takasugi were always a bit more unstable, but again, a terrifying enemy to have in battle if they ever shared a common interest long enough to fuse about it.
I’m a sucker for platonic fusion as a way of coping with angsty situations, and to express feelings that you have difficulty putting words to, so I like to think that they (the Joui 4) also fused in noncombat situations. As a show of solidarity and support. Gin and Zura probably still do, every now and then.
Once (one singular time) all four of them fused together at once. It was an act of sheer desperation, and it really took a toll out of them all mentally and physically, but the amanto never suffered a loss so dear as they did that day.
Kagura and Shinpachi can fuse more easily with each other than either of them can with Gin. He has too much weight on his shoulders, things he doesn’t want them to see. Kagura+Shinpachi is a lighthearted, sweet person, in my head, and I love them
There are tons more possibilities for fusions when you look at the rest of the cast of characters: Gin+Zenzou, Shinpachi+Yamazaki, Otae+Kyuubei, Tsukuyo+Hinowa (!!!), Kagura+Soyo (!!!!!!!!!!!). Really as long as there is touch and intent to fuse, even if it’s just the unconscious need to share your thoughts or feelings with someone else, anyone can fuse. You get to smash the two (or three, or more!) characters together and decide which elements of their individual designs are present in the fusion, which is GREAT fun. I think everyone should try it at some point, it’s awesome.
BONUS bullet point here at the end to make a small confession...there’s always two parts to the fics I write: the stuff that I think is acceptable for publication to the world at large, and the stuff that will only ever exist inside my head. The latter category is mainly stuff that I decided was too far out of character, too far removed from canon, toooooo self-indulgent to be published and taken seriously by anyone. But I almost, almost included a second part to the Gintoshi fic in which Hijikata was seriously injured (I always seem to do this to Hijikata...baby I’m so sorry) and Gintoki fused with him as a way to save his life. Kondo and Okita and Shinpachi and Kagura and whoever else happened to be around rushed him to the hospital, of course. Once there, the doctors told him to unfuse so they could treat Hijikata, and he refused. Gintoki, specifically, refused, because he was worried that Hijikata wouldn’t make it if he separated from him, and that thought really panicked him. Eventually he does, and Hijikata gets stitches and medicine or whatever else he needs. The doctors come back the next morning to follow up and they find Gintoshi there again, stubbornly refusing to unfuse. Again. Anyway, ideally that scenario would lead up to the two of them realizing their romantic feelings for each other, and there’d be a big confession scene and they’d spend all their free time as Gintoshi from then on. Ideally for me, at least, haha!
ANYWAY anyway, in conclusion, fusions are good. Thank you so much again, anon, for your compliments and for giving me a chance to blather on for a little while about a subject that is near and dear to my heart ❤️

Another Random Hakuouki Dream
I had another random Hakuouki dream and I thought I'd share. Even though it was pretty random, the character portrayal was dead on.
For one reason or another, my dream was in a modern day setting, but the characters were anime style and in their original garb from the first game. Yeah. I don't know why.
Everyone lived together in this large RV bus (Chizuru included) and they would go around and inspect factory plants. Make sure they were running smoothly and keeping up with the laws. Yeah, weird, I know.
Well, everyone splits up to go around the scaffolding and look into things during the night. Yamazaki, Okita and Chizuru were grouped together while others ran off in other directions, paired off as well (Hijikata-san went with Sannan-san and Kondou-san was paired up with Heisuke. Sano and Shinpachi were together as expected. I also believe there may have been Gen-san, Ryunosukeand Shiranui. Cannot remember.)
Being on top of issues and spotting things with his eagle eyes, Yamazaki finds a leak in the system. A grinding machine was spitting out bits of gold and eas stuffed with a surplus of gold coins that didn't belong there. Immediately, he decides that the Shinsengumi can use this money for their benefit because embezzlement isn't cool. Somehow, as he is trying to gather things up, he gets overwhelmed and slips and falls. Chizuru wants to help, and Souji decides it is a great time to steal Yamazaki's gold just to pester him. Chizuru and Souji get into an "Okita-san, no!" scuffle and after tugging and pulling, land directly on poor Yamazaki. He is simply done with the situation, as Souji fell on him first and is not a small man. Chizuru and Souji realize they are two centimeters apart, and though she is simply stunned, Souji is unsettled and shocked. I was supposedly watching this "new show/game/who knows" and was very excited for my Okichi moment. I was waiting for the sweat bead to appear on Souji's cheek, but instead, he takes a breath in and pulls back slightly... only to bite the end of her nose. She squeals "itai" and instantly gets up, complaining Okita-san is so mean, why does she bother? Yamazaki starts fussing at Souji as well, who scoops up Chizuru in an arm like a helpless potato sack and declares he is taking the girl back with him to the RV! More "Okita-san, no!", but Souji is already dashing back with her.
And, as he does so, there is a reverberating scream of "temee!"
