Wilfred- Will You Be My Princess?
You never knew what the aloof prince was thinking. You had been living at Philip castle for some time now and thought you knew Prince Wilfred, but time and time again he showed you just how little you understood him. During your stay you had started to develop feelings for the prince, feelings that should never have existed. He was a prince and you were a commoner, such a relationship was impossible.
And yet you wished for nothing more than to be with him.
“How does he feel…?”
He already has a fiancé, or in better terms “had” a fiancé. Wilfred suddenly called off the engagement, even arguing with his parents in the process. It was unheard of for a crown prince of Philip to act in such a manner.
You wished you knew what was going through his mind. Maybe, just maybe he had feelings for you…? That’s what you hoped but since calling off the engagement he has been avoiding you, it was as if you didn’t exist any more. It hurt. Of course, you shouldn’t expect him to think of you as anything but a mere commoner and yet…you can’t deny all the times you spent together during your stay, the happy times and the sad times; you experienced so much by his side in such a short time, these moments have become irreplaceable memories.
“Everything we shared…do they all mean nothing to him?” You whispered sadly, eyes forlorn as you stared out the window.
Soon your time at the castle would be over and all the memories you shared would feel like a dream- a wonderful dream. You had just received news your apartment was repaired and you could return home at any time. It was time for you to say goodbye… However, you found doing so impossible. Though you weren’t clear on his feelings, you knew you loved him. A love so pure blossomed within you but it was a love that you would have to seal away- a love denied.
You hurried to pack what little belongings you had. You couldn’t stay at the castle any longer with the feelings growing inside you, they hurt too much and you feared you may do something foolish if you didn’t get away soon.
“Wilfred…why was I so foolish to let myself fall in love with you…why?” Your tearful words fell on deaf ears as tears wet your cheeks.
Never had you loved before, that was until Wilfred came into your life, the man of few words stole your heart like a thief in the night. Love sure was a painful feeling and yet it was a feeling you were glad to have experienced, even if you never will again.
Once you had everything packed you quietly left your room and did your best to leave unnoticed. Somehow, you made it to the entrance without running into Claude and most of all the prince. Before leaving, you took one last look inside the castle, remembering all the times you shared together- it was as if your memories came to life as you remembered everything so vividly but those memories made your heart ache.
“No…I must go.” You tore your eyes away from inside the castle and turned them to the door. With a heavy heart you left the castle behind and along with it your feelings were forever sealed away.
You hurried to call a cab to take you back home, you were lucky to get one as many weren’t running this late. You felt like you were an actress in a movie running away in the middle of the night and leaving everything behind.
You watched as castle slowly vanished from sight. All you could think of was the prince. Regret. That’s what you started to feel. How you wished you could have seen Wilfred one last time but it would have only made leaving all the more difficult and you didn’t even know how he would have responded. You knew you would have been even more crushed if he treated you coldly when it would have been your final moments together.
You promised yourself you would never forget him and always treasure this dream like experience for the rest of your life.
“Farewell, my prince…” You whispered as the castle completely vanished from sight.
It was all over. The time to return to your normal life had come.
…Or so you thought.
“Huh?!” The driver suddenly slowed down that it made your whole body jump, “What’s the matter?”
“Someone is following us!” The driver responded.
Confused you wound down your window. “Who would be foll- waa?!” You gasped as you saw none other than the prince himself riding on top of a majestic white horse in pursuit of the cab.
You were dumbstruck, this really was something out of a movie! Wilfred looked so handsome and manly riding on top of the horse, he looked like a true prince charming.
“Stop the car!” Wilfred called out.
“What? …Oh!” You quickly signaled to the driver to pull over.
Once the car had stopped you dashed outside. Wilfred was just getting off his horse when you ran up to him.
“Prince Wilfred…!” You said in disbelief, you didn’t know what else to say.
“Thank goodness I caught up.” Wilfred sighed in relief. Your heart raced as questions filled your thoughts but you were in such shock the words wouldn’t come out.
“I’m sorry.” Wilfreds sudden apology shocked you even further.
“W-What do you mean? You shouldn’t be here…” You said, your voice shaking as you shook your head in confusion.
Wilfred suddenly grabbed your hand, his sudden touch making you jump. “I was confused with my feelings…with my heart. I didn’t know what was right or wrong. What path I should follow.”
Wilfred explained why he had been so distant. Why he treated you so coldly. As crown prince he had a lot to think over. In the end, his feelings won over, Wilfred loved you just as much as you did him.
“Sorry, I can’t let you get away.”
“Wait…!”
You tried to pull your hand away but Wilfred only tightened his grip. “My parents have already accepted my feelings. Don’t think after coming this far I would let you run away now.”
“Th-They have…” Those words came as a shock. You suddenly felt lightheaded. The feelings you tried so hard to lock away no longer needed to be restrained- you were finally free to express your love.
“Wilfred…I…I…” Tears started to well up in your eyes. Wilfred got down on one knee before you while holding your hand and placing his other over his heart.
“I love you, ___. Will you be my princess?” Wilfreds eyes shone beautifully under the moonlight; the smile on his face was as bright as the stars that lit up the sky. It was such a tender, loving smile, one you had never seen before and it made your heart melt in an instant.
“Y-Yes…” You responded with tears, shock and joy. In a flash, Wilfred rose to his feet and picked you up by the waist and lifted you into the air, smiling even brighter than before, “I’m relieved. I was worried if you would have said no.” He chuckled and you could only smile while still in bliss from this wonderful moment.
“I feel like I’m dreaming.” You said as Wilfred let you down and enveloped you with his arms.
“This is no dream,” he whispered as he drew closer, his eyes filled with a burning desire, “This…is very real.” His lips softly touched yours. The love overflowed between you, finally it was no longer denied but free to blossom into something truly beautiful.
