i feel like dylan did care about him but like not the way eric cared about him :((

do you think eric likes dylan more than dylan liked eric? or vice versa?

Eric defiantly liked Dylan more than Dylan liked Eric. Or at least, it started off that way.

Given the numbers of times Eric mentions Dylan in his journal vs. how many times Dylan mentions Eric in his journal. Also, it’s clear that Dylan viewed Zach Heckler as a best friend rather than Eric. He even writes a whole journal entry on him and how upset he is after Zach got a girlfriend, making him spend less time with him. 

“My best friend ever: thefriend who shared, experimented, laughed, took chances with & appreciated me more thanany friend ever did has been ordained … “passed on” … in my book. Ever since [Devon] (who Iwouldn’t mind killing) has loved him … that’s the only place he’s been with her … if anyonehad any idea how sad I am … I mean we were the TEAM. When him & I first were friends,well I finally found someone who was like me: who appreciated me & shared very commoninterests. Ever since 7th grade, I’ve felt lonely … when [Zach] came around, I finally felt happiness(sometimes) we did cigars, drinking, sabotage to houses, EVERYTHING for the firsttime together & now that he’s “moved on” I feel so lonely, w/o a friend.”

Let’s not forget on the diversion papers, Eric also refers to Dylan as his best friend while Dylan seemed to scratch out “best” and put “good friend” instead.

It also worth mentioning when Dylan’s original plan for NBK was to commit it with his soulmate, not with Eric. While Dylan rather kill and die with his crush, Eric rather kill and die with his best friend. It wasn’t until Dylan never gotten with that girl of his dreams, he decided to commit with Eric instead. “..either I’ll commit suicide,or I’ll get with [redacted] & it will be NBK for us. My happiness. Her happiness. NOTHING elsematters.” -2.2.1998

Also, Devon did mentioned once how annoyed Dylan use to get about how Eric use to copy him all the time. When Dylan applied for Blackjack’s, so did Eric. When Dylan got a Rammstein sticker for his car, so did Eric. When Dylan got a black trench coat, so did Eric. 

Also Sue stated once that sometime in his junior year, Dylan wanted to distance himself from Eric. Dylan even asked his mom when Eric calls, if she could come up with a fake excuse as to why Dylan couldn’t hangout with him. When his mother asked why he doesn’t want to see Eric, Dylan said “Eric’s crazy.” Given how non-confrontational Dylan was, it would be understandable if Dylan never had the nerve to tell Eric his true feelings towards him.

Do you know some of the people that bullied Dylan and Eric?

Many of their bullies’ names were not listed, so I’m going list the people who bullied them and the people who witnessed them being bullied.

People who harassed Dylan and Eric.

Dustin Thurmon: He made fun of Eric and Dylan for wearing trench coats in 90 degrees heat and taunted them in bowling class.

Rocky Hoffschneider: Hoffschneider and his friends did pick on Dylan and Eric relentlessly, at one incident they threw skittles and bagels at them. In another incident, Hoffschneider and his friends surrounded their table and he said, “Why don’t you two fags kiss? You guys are such sweethearts.” Hoffschneider’s name was found of Eric’s & Dylan’s shit list. 

Mike Dinkle: bullied Eric, and Eric found out he was making fun of him behind his back, causing him to be upset. 

Zach Johnston: mocked Eric for liking Rammstien. When they passed by eachother in the halls, Zach often said “Rammstien sucks” to get on his nerves.

Jordan Grimm: made fun of Dylan about his coat. 

(Redacted): states he relentlessly abused Eric during gym because Eric was bad at sports and others bullied him too. 

(Redacted): made fun of Eric in gym because he had a big head and skinny body, others bullied him too. He also bullied other people besides Eric. 

People who witnessed Dylan and Eric being bullied.

Brooks Brown: was walking with Dylan and Eric when a group of jocks threw a glass bottle at them, landing by Dylan’s feet. As Brooks was about to curse at them, Dylan says, “don’t worry about it man, it happens all the time.” Brooks also notes another time when the jocks surrounded Eric and Dylan in the commons and squirted ketchup at them while calling them “fags.”

Mollie Weksler: knew teachers and a staff member that picked on Eric and Dylan.

Josh Chavez: Dylan made fun of in gym; called “Stretch”; uncoordinated, not good at sports.

Justin Baer: jocks once picked on Eric in gym, pushed him into lockers.

Steve Trujillo: heard that jocks had slammed Eric and Dylan into lockers, but he never saw it.

Scott Rathbun: both Eric and Dylan were teased in the previous year by kids who graduated. 

Kristi Epling / Alyssa Sechler: Eric was teased by jocks for how he dressed and his size.

Chris Morris: states that Eric picked on more than Dylan; Eric was depressed about his size and getting picked on.

Mike Paavilainen: Eric and Dylan teased more in junior year by jocks who graduated in 1998.
