Ok since I’m in a Swing Kids rabbit hole, let me infodump about this song and scene here. Bei Mir Bistu Shein (or Bay Mir Bistu Sheyn) was originally a Yiddish love song written in 1932 for a Yiddish musical that premiered in NYC. In 1937 it was translated into English and the phrase was Germanized to Bei mir bist du schön. The version we can hear in this clip is this jazz English translation popularized by the Andrews Sisters in 1937 or 1938, and then later also sung by Ella Fitzgerald. Nowadays there are hundreds of versions of this song.
So in this scene Peter is losing his shit right before the Nazi raid while dancing to a Yiddish song written by Jewish people in the USA and then imported by the swing community in Germany (probably Hamburg). The scene could only be better if by the end Peter were literally punching Nazis to the sound of a Yiddish song.
he fooled us... he can actually dance ...
