do ppl rly think that homura was telling the truth when she said that her bringing sayaka and bebe back into the new world, aka bringing them back to life, was an accident?

if it rly was, don’t you think she would just… correct her mistake and “get rid of them” or smth like that? she has alr been shown to be incredibly powerful, becoming the equivalent of a god, now that she’s stolen a part of the law of cycles’ power, essentially. why wouldn’t she be able to do smth abt their existence in her new world, if it were truly a mistake?

plus, she’s literally been lying this ENTIRE TIME as devil homura, esp during her entire conversation w sayaka… why would she suddenly be telling her the truth in that moment specifically? that doesn’t rly make a lot of sense, does it?

i want to add that homura definitely wants to save everyone, madoka is just her main focus.

she wouldn’t have included them in her re-written reality in an attempt to keep them all alive and happy if she didn’t.

The ongoing conflict of Puella Magi Madoka Magica is that Homura has a self-destructive knight-savior complex but only specifically for the girl she has a crush on, but unfortunately for her the girl she has a crush on also has a self-destructive savior complex for Every Living Thing On The Planet Earth. So they are doing a constant back and forth of "I am going to save everyone" > "No, I am going to save you." > "No, I am going to save everyone." over and over again with increasing stakes each time until we've reached a cosmic scale and they're both smashing planets and becoming abstract concepts instead of just making out with each other. Tragic yuri. Many such cases.

ppl who think or act as tho homura being unable to save madoka in the main story is bc homura simply isn’t “strong enough” to do so rly annoys me, bc it’s literally confirmed by kyuubey (and by very obv context clues) that madoka is literally fated/destined to die in every single timeline, aka every single universe (since homura was unknowingly and unintentionally creating a new universe every time she rewinded time).

meaning homura was going to fail, no matter what she did. and on top of that, all of the girls around her kept dying as well, and she couldn’t stop it.

the only way homura could have established a universe where madoka and everyone else doesn’t die and is alive was if she literally overtook the universe and rewrote its laws, therefore rewriting or squashing fate/destiny itself, which is exactly what happened in rebellion. l

what i’m trying to say is, i feel like there’s a difference between someone being weak and not “strong enough” bc of their own faults, and then something being literally impossible to change unless you make an equally as impossible decision in order to do so in this sense.

yes, ofc homura has her own flaws and weaknesses, but the universe was literally working against the exact thing she was trying to do. 😭 remember that and cut her some slack lmao.

ohoho. OHOHO. okay so for context i had this revelation in the dark in the woods which i think is the perfect place to think about pmmm and i think i cracked the code with the ribbon symbolism. Once again as usual i might just be overanalyzing these things but it's Me we're talking about so here we go<3

so, first of all, quite gayly, the red thread of fate represents two people who are (connected by the red thread) destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. it's also ended up symbolizing star-crossed lovers too sometimes? there's a whole lot of ribbon/string symbolism in pmmm itself. string moreso in rebellion, (i'll get into that as well because i'm thinking about it) but i'll start with the main idea.

okay so. Madoka's red ribbons are obv mirroring the red thread/string of fate (and are treated as such throughout the show) and i Just realized their significance in madoka's design . how madoka's wish literally turned her entire being into fate itself (the fate of magical girls) ... and how her giving her ribbons to homura was not only a memento for homura to remember madoka by but it was also representing how endless their connection is (such is the legend; regardless of place, time, or circumstances, those tied by the red thread will be together). it's kind of a small detail in the grand scheme of the series but it's a really neat one if you think about it hard enough :)

and the pink thread in rebellion just symbolizing madoka creating her own fate (becoming the fate of magical girls; her thread of fate is pink) and how the spool of pink thread is engulfed by homura's soul gem in the end (possibly representing how she's sealing away madoka's powers, taking on the burden of her fate for her; something like that) but yeah! that’s what i think at least :3

I ship Akechi and Homura now and it sounds like a crackship but let me explain.

So the Magical Girl system gets connected to the Metaverse somehow after Rebellion and Homura wants to investigate so she heads off into a Palace. If you already know where this is going, it happens to be Shido’s Palace, and she sees the Cognitive abt to kill Akechi so she stops time and drags him away (explains why Futaba lost his signal).

The PTs still think he died tho so in the Royal timeline, the Akechi that Maruki created is like- the best example I can think of would be the Clara Dolls in Rebellion. I’ll call him Shi (since Ai is obv Madoka), and as the name implies, he’s quite comfortable w/ death- both of the Witch/Mistress Good-For-Nothing and of Akechi. So when Maruki takes over reality, since Akechi’s still alive, he overwrites Shi, but Shi still has a major influence over his conscience, which is why Akechi seems so content w/ dying in 3rd Semester.

Good thing Homura- or rather, Madoka- isn’t gonna let that happen.

M/F OTP: um. fuck. Tomohisa Kaname/Junko Kaname. They belong together. 

M/M OTP: Um. Fuck. I must admit that I assumed the spinoffs would have LITERALLY ONE MALE CHARACTER. Gotta pass. 

F/F OTP: Okay I have a lot of options here. Going to be boring and go with Madoka/Homura, largely because I haven’t done most of the side stories honestly and I’m not a huge fan of Oriko/Kirika.

Fav Female: Sayaka for sure. Fav Male: Tatsuya. He is vaguely relevant to the end of the series he counts. 

Least Fav Female: Hitomi. Sorry girl. Magical Girl-wise it’d be Kirika. Least Fav Male: Kyousuke. 

Why I joined the fandom: Nothing super dramatic, sadly. I saw the show as it came out, actually, because of all that hype surrounding it and OMG THOSE THREE EPISODES, and I quite liked it at the time and started looking for fan works and the like.

My enjoyment has cooled over the years but I’m still a fan.
