Got an amber alert for a child abduction this evening, and as is typical with amber alerts it linked to the twitter post from the relevant police department to get the detailed description of the victim, suspect, and car involved, but because I don’t have a twitter account it took literally fifteen minutes for me to get the post to load, a problem I have been having frequently since Elon Musk bought the platform, and gosh this feels like something out of a dystopia

#i just …#the point of amber alerts is to get this information out as soon as possible to as many people as possible #because the chances of safely recovering abduction victims go down *drastically* after the first couple hours #so it is *critical* to get that info out to as many people asap #and the fact that it took me so long to get any information from this alert designed solely with the purpose of disseminating information #solely because the platform it uses has been turned into a functionally unusable vanity project for some asshat with way too much money #absolutely infuriates me #not everyone has a twitter account #and not everyone has the time or ability to obsessively check and reload a webpage until it works #especially when the point is to get the information out NOW #idk if i’m articulating this clearly i’m just pissed off #anyways thankfully the child in question has been located safely so that’s very good #I’m just irritated because you should not need to have a twitter account to get information on a missing child #twitter #elongated muskrat
