A little more thought, On this post of TopMew scenes being a little bland as directional choice and storytelling of their characters rather than issues with acting/script by @taliskermortem
I totally think it the vibe they want to set for them. The whole day Mew was insecure and the only reason he slept with because he was afraid "top will be bored of him". Even the last ep it was a bargain to get Top to stop using drugs. In the first ep it was because his friends kept provoking him. It has never been about Mew wanting Top in any sort of sexual manner, the reasons are always externally influenced.
I think Force and Book are really playing well two people who don't love each other but the idea of each other. We all keep feeling something is missing, because something is!! aka genuine feelings and desire for each other. They do like each other on the surface but as of now nothing beyond that, they did not have any deep connecting conversations/trauma bonding like RaySand or have the pure obsession that drives Nick.
Also Mew was the first person that Boston had gotten into the head i.e. how Top only is with someone for 3 months and the he got to Top about Mew is just using him for Ray's attention. Obviously they will have major trust issues that will reflect in how they behave around each other. They are in a way closed off to each other, waiting for the other shoe to drop hence holding off from being emotionally invested. They are just there going with the flow for now. Top wants someone to date seriously to fill whatever is missing inside him and Mew perhaps just want to date someone. Hence, they are trying to fall for each other, they really have not fallen for each other.
This is a much much different dynamic then enchante or abab, hence the blandness and lack of chemistry. I think the acting is to the point, they cannot show chemistry if the characters are not feeling it and the script does not demand that. Not all arcs have the same pace and intensity. Maybe they will genuinely fall for each other or fall out, I am sure FB will convey those moments well but for now they have done well
P'Jojo had said this is show of real queer people, so how many people we know just date to date? A lot! We all also have been there at some point of time. They don't really love each other but they tell each other so. I like this realistic portrayal, we don't often see side of love as a lead story. People love not because they love the other person, but because they like the idea of not being alone. It is also the kind of story that needs telling

Ep. 2
I remember seeing a post about how one of the cast members said that each episode takes off right where the last one ended, and i was surprised to see it actually did start right where it left off. But I like this; it's like an extended movie.
A lot of things happened in this episode, and in my life after i watched this episode, so here we are *checks calendar* four days later.
Anyways.
I like how confident Mew is about himself and his body, and how he doesn't waver in his stance. I appreciate it, because it's quite sad when boys 'give in' in BLs simply because the person chasing them is insistent, handsome, rich, and all that stuff.
Acknowledging that a public proposal is not very nice - twice, oh my gods, i love it. I have watched this trope so many times and mourned what it could have been. If someone did that to me, beside being embarrassed, i would leave them immediately, because if they do this to me, they don't know me at all.
This is a thing i have constantly talked against, because things like these are so personal. I fully support you showing your love to the world; i encourage it, in fact. I will personally beat up anyone (in my fanfics of course) who says anything not nice about my baby boys having a little PDA.
But, things like proposals and asking someone to be your partner if done so publicly… it's not a very nice experience for the person on the other side. If you do want to do something like this, discuss it beforehand, do not spring it as a surprise.
I digress.
Moving on.
The whole laser tag scene was very cool. It showed us, a little more clearly, that Mew is not someone you want to be messing with. He might seem like a friendly, harmless romantic bookworm (also, "i got specs because i read too much." Sseriously? You get specs when you can't read.) but he's an observant little devil that will not hesitate to hit you where it hurts if you do something he doesn't like.
Top being vulnerable was nice. It's a sign that maybe, just maybe, he does want more than sex.
I have nothing to say about Boston and Nick. Not yet. There's a lot of undertones in that relationship that i want to put under a microscope and some things (namely Boston) that i am very frustrated with, but nothing that i truly don't like. It's too early though.
Dun dun dun. Ray and Sand entering a weird very normal 'friends who have sex' dynamic.
Tumblr media
"Can I throw money at you now?"
I'm not lying when I say my eyes glinted at this scene. I was this close to an evil laugh.
And the trailer lies again. Anyone surprised? No? Thought so.
Ray just acted like he was looking at the girls so Sand didn't realize he was stalking him following him to find out if he was a drug dealer.
Tumblr media
The bar has a big YOLO neon sign, Sand's bag has "You only live once". I'm thinking it'll come up a lot in this show.
Tumblr media
The very thing we have been waiting for since The Eclipse ep. 1.
That scene. . .whoo boy. I almost bit my tongue off, no kidding.
"You'll keep wanting me, but I'll just be your friend."
If one day, I don't update my OF Weekly, you know the cause of my death ^
Am I a little obsessed with RaySand (FirstKhaotung)?
. . .
Maybe.
Let's move on.
Oh no, angst starts next episode. Gotta get my tissues and chocolate ready.
I most probably have missed a lot of things, and if i remember I'll come back and edit.
I'm not personally making any clips, but if you want one, don't hesitate to put in a request :D
See ya next week ✌🏽
Only Friends Weekly
In these reviews, I will scream, sob, throw things etc. etc.
Ep. 1
Welp. They didn't hold back on the heat. Like there's at least one sex scene in every single part of the very first episode.
Lots of subtexts, as usual.
And my favourite thing: very, very, VERY gay.
The chemistry is off the charts, seriously. And their acting is just wow. They went over and beyond with this, really.
NeoMark first interaction? Gods, don't even get me started on that. And FirstKhao? Slaying as usual.
First is kinda like Akk with a bit of Yok, but more gay and slay. Khaotung is Ayan ×10 but a pathetic little meow meow and also a slut.
Oh, and there's Drake. Yeah, Drake Drake. With Neo.
We got the TopMew kitchen scene in THE VERY FIRST EPISODE.
This series is going to Do Things to me, and I'm all in for the ride. Hopes and prayers.
P'Jojo is giving us everything we ever wanted and everything we didn't know we need. I am we.
(A couple of) Fav scenes (there are more but I'm too tired to screenshot 'em all):

I love how Boston is so gray in so many ways. And Neo nailed everything about the character.

Well I'm gonna answer this with way too many words as is my wont.
Mew: He is in love. Of course he is. Sure he feels betrayed and humiliated, but if that were all it were he wouldn't have to try so hard to get over what happened. And he wouldn't lash out at Top in the specific way he is lashing out. He also wouldn't have looked at him like he did in the hostel kitchen, either. He's hurt and angry and still loving Top makes that all so much worse.
Top: Is also in love, and it's combined with guilt and worry and it's glorious. No way that man would have taken all the shit Mew threw at him at the party if he didn't. And I knew it before that, anyway. That sketchbook? That's a TON of thinking about a person, memorizing all the lines of their face, etc. I have said already that being with Mew let Top be the best version of himself, and I love that as far as we know for now he's attempting to continue to be that guy even as Mew scorns him at every opportunity.
Basically these two are my favorite right now the whole pain and love dynamic is catnip to me. Whether it works out or not I am living for it.
Sand: Is in love. He's also very aware of the way that Ray is spiraling (I still wonder if he has experience with addicts because he keeps handling him in a way that is both compassionate and firm. I read @bird-inacage's post about Ray and it struck me that Sand always explains what Ray's done wrong when he lectures him. He never just says "don't do [thing]", he makes sure to also say why [thing] is harmful. Like you would with a child. Anyway I don't know where I'm going with that it just struck me. Maybe it's just instinctive, idk. He does the same thing with his mom) and that makes it harder for him to step back the way he should, although if anything the last episode proved to me that he can and will do it. Sure he tried to help Ray with the cops even after Ray was awful to him, but then he left him to his own devices and took care of Nick instead. To me that shows that he's actually NOT a doormat, he's just compassionate. It's genuinely admirable, even though it frustrates me on occasion.
Ray: I will not pretend that he doesn't like Sand and enjoy his company. Those things are both true. However, I do not think he loves him. I think he enjoys the attention Sand pays him and craves the type of care that Sand gives him. Ideally he wants this from Mew, but Mew is not providing it, so Ray will take it from where he can get it. I do NOT think it's malicious or even entirely on purpose (at least not right now), but I do think he's fully capable of leading Sand on in his desperation to have the kind of attention and care that Sand gives him.
I think these two are a case of wrong person, right emotions for Ray and right person, wrong time for Sand. They're kind of tragic in that you can see how they could work, if things were just a little different.
I have also finally figured out that this just isn't my type of dynamic which is why I'm so eeeeech about it all the time. For me it's a case of almost but not quite hitting my buttons. This is also a tragedy because I can see how it could hit them. It would almost be better if it were not close at all.
I do not think they will end in a good place, although I hope they are both individually in good places.
Nick: I think he's obsessed. I don't know if I really believe it's love, but who knows with this one. Maybe for Nick the two are the same. Honestly he's the one I feel like I get least when it comes to all of this. Someone please explain him to me.
Boston: I think that Boston likes Nick quite a lot, and that it freaks him out a little bit, haha. Very much "I might have feelings but damned if you get to know that", which I respect. I also think that even if he does love Nick, the way his love works is not the way Nick wants it. I just don't think that Boston is the type to be in a monogamous relationship, and Nick wants to be the only. That said, I also think that Boston would find it very very easy to separate loving someone with sleeping with other people - for him, sex and love do not go hand in hand. That's part of why he and Mew butt heads so much about it imo. If he does wind up developing deep feelings for Nick and Nick could accept that (and they can move past Nick recording him AND telling Mew about his other sex tape - and this never fails to send me because wtf), I think they could work it out, actually.
Also, I still think that these two deserve each other. Can't help it. But I do not think that they will end up together, no.
Alright, at first I thought this question was straightforward, but I’ve been pondering it for a bit…
Which of the 3 Only Friends pairings do you consider to be ‘in love’ at this point? And if they’re not in love, how would you define their feelings for each other?
