one free pass for the grumpy!logan and overprotective brother!wade plot bunny 🤝🐇
"So," Vanessa hummed, watching you stir pans, "how was the date you went on?"
"He stood me up," you shrug. "I did get some really good gyoza though-"
"Sweetie."
You shrug again. "It's not the first time. And let's face it. It won't be the last. I write romance books. I don't live them."
Vanessa gave you a look but kept her commentary to herself. The last few years had been hard on everyone. You'd thought your big brother was dead right along next to her. You'd been in the thick of it even though you were trying to start college. Still just a kid. And in a lot of ways you were her rock- and a link to Wade when he was gone.
"I don't want to spend my whole life like our mom. Just like Wade doesn't want to be our dad, Nessa." You shake your head like you're banishing a thought and turn off the stove. "Let's fucking eat. I'm starving."
"This looks incredible. I have sex dreams less erotic than this."
"I heard that, Ow," Wade said, clutching his heart.
Vanessa shrugged and poured stroganoff into a bowl before shoving it into his hands, "Go be useful. Y/N did the hard part."
"Logan," you call, "I know you probably don't do wine, I got beer if you want that instead?"
"I uh- thanks," he said, shuffling to the table, offering Trigger his hand to smell when the dog shot him a look. He sniffed it and shot him a distinctly dirty look before walking away to re-glue himself to your side. Good dog, he thought.
"No assigned seating here, Logi-bear," Wade said, taking a seat next to Vanessa as he finished putting portions on plates- leaving Logan nowhere to sit but next to you since he'd put Mary in the other empty spot.
He nodded and pulled out a chair and looked towards the kitchen. He could hear you still rattling around and the sound of a knife slicing through something. And then a clatter "Fuck!"
Wade was out of his seat in a second and in the kitchen, "What'd you do- Holy shit biscuits!"
"It's fine I just-"
"Where d'you keep you towels?" he asked, rifling through the drawers and throwing things around.
"Next to the sink, Christ, it's not that bad-"
When you walk around the corner with Wade's arm around your shoulder, Logan blinked, blood-spattered your shirt and your pants. For "Not that bad" it looked like you might have cut your fucking hand off.
"I'll get some Ice," Vanessa said, standing up, "Logan, keep pressure on that for a second?"
Logan nodded, "Easy bleeder?" he ventured. You weren't phased enough about it for this to be new.
You nod and sigh, letting him look at your hand. "I've done worse," you muse. "He's so fucking dramatic." A thud makes you look away from the wound and Logan wrapped it to press on it carefully. "I swear if they're fucking in my kitchen again-"
"We're not," Vanessa said returning with an icepack, "I dropped the ice cream trying to find the ice."
"And Wade is-"
"Debating on if You'd want the staple gun or just super glue," he answered.
"There's bandages under the sink you degenerate!"
"Ooo, secrets," Wade said, dropping the stuff he was holding and heading towards the bathroom.
"Nessa," you plead.
"I'll go get him," she said rolling her eyes.
Logan exhaled through his nose and adjusted the ice on your hand. "I think you'll live, kid."
"Probably. I can hold this, your dinner is getting cold-"
Logan snorted, "Not a complete animal. Wouldn't be polite to eat while my hostess is bleeding out."

just a silly little gay thought 🤭

"So, how long have you been working here for?" You asked, hands delicately twisting the rusted gears within the metallic mascot's darkened skeletal figure. You were struggling to get inside this trap, even why animatronics this ancient, their parts wouldn't be hard to twist. Nor smell as bad.
"Years after it closed," Vanessa answered. She had been feeling antsy staying put and watching you work, so tidying had been her priority for the last couple hours of the night. "believe it or not, it's only been recently that this place has required night guards. As soon as I became an officer, applications started opening for more security."
"Really?" You hummed, face fixed on Bonnie's complex systems. You scratched the side of your head, sweat oozing from your face. You had been told the machine had been acting unorthodox as soon as the power went on, as well as that error in his guitar. "Must have been some wild kids then if it needed more than some iron fence." Curiously, you began walking towards the still animatronics instrument. Fingers treading lightly before tinkering with it. Vanessa's eyes flickered wildly, and she screamed, "Wait, no! His guitar-"
It was too late. Soon, your vision was engulfed in white stems of electricity and wild baby blues. You yelped before falling off the stage, falling unconscious almost immediately as dark seeped into your gaze.
Your mind was plagued with a yellow haze, as well as your sight. You blinked rapidly, head twisting with pain. When your eyes began to clear, you could see a tall figure looming over your body. As the seconds drifted by, your senses began to grow back to normal. You could feel your wrists stinging as she wrapped a thick bandage around your cindered skin.
You winced, "Shit."
"Oh, thank God." Vanessa breathed, "You're awake."
You heaved, cringing coldly as pain skyrocketed through your veins. "What happened?" Your lip quivered, jaw twitching as you tried to read your current situation. You could feel blood oozing through your arms and legs which were hugged by white layers. "Oh, fuck." You coughed. Agony gripped your body, making you shutter.
"Take it easy," Vanessa grabbed your shoulder tenderly. Your eyes turned to Vanessa nervously. Maybe it was the shock, or it was something else you couldn't put your finger on. Vanessa frowned, rubbing her thumb to ease your anxiety. "Bonnie's guitar was unstable, and even at the simplest of touches, it can explode. It's not too severe most of the time, but still, it can hurt like hell."
You blinked, "When Steve said it was broken, he never said anything about it exploding." You tried to catch your breath. Vanessa hushed, "Calm down, alright? You're fine." She assured you, voice low as a whisper. "Just take a breath."
You inhaled sharply before releasing. After you did, Vanessa wrapped another section of your arms, which made your stomach twist. You never realized until now how much detail her face held so close, it was memorizing. And nerve-wracking for some odd reason. You were growing more flustered by the second, and she began to notice. Vanessa rested her hand near your chest, and you swore you could see stars.
"Your pulse is crazy fast," she said with a chuckle. You blushed, chuckling weakly. Vanessa pulled her hand away, "You look dazed. What are you so nervous about?"
"Nothing." You answered softly. Vanessa tilted her head, obviously intrigued. "Really?"
She rested her touch against your pulse again, making you shutter. Vanessa giggled, "Are you flustered? Because of me?" She gasped, "You are." Vanessa sounded almost giddy at that, childishly so. You defended yourself, "No, no. I'm just, trying to get my head together. I'm just out of it."
She teased, "Are you sure? I don't care if you get a little red around me. We all get crushes." Vanessa read your starstruck face and smiled once more before applying a light bandage to your cheek. "You feeling better?"
"Just a bit." You laid down, catching your breath. "I'm sorry I put you through this." Your eyes awkwardly shifted to your wrapped hands.
"It's alright, it was a mistake. As long as you're fine, I'm fine." Vanessa began packing away the bright red kit, eyelashes batting as she spoke. Internally, she was furious. Her father lied to you, probably to get you weak. He probably wanted her to leave you burned on the ground and leave the children to clean up everything. That's how it always had been. She was always cleaning up his messes, even as a little girl. It was horrible. Her nails dug against the table with a strangled huff, "You are okay, right?"
"Thanks to you." You told her. You sat up again and nudged your gaze ahead. "A little help?"
"Shit, right." Vanessa walked toward and you felt her warm hands around your sides. She could tell you were screaming inside, and that stole a smirk from her almost immediately. "Hey, if you fall, I'll catch you. My arms are always open,"
"Thanks for the offer." You played along.
You struggled to get on your feet for a couple short seconds, with Vanessa holding you delicately. You were able to walk again, just before the crack of dull dawn. You started gathering your tools with Vanessa next to you. She was toying with her hair when you met her gaze. You shyly extended your hand, "Thank you for helping me . . . You really didn't have to."
"I wanted to." She grabbed your hand and shook it, "I'd love to help you. Well, whenever you need it."
You both remained silent for a minute. And her eyes wandered down to your lips before you cleared your throat, "I hope we can keep in touch?"
"Yes, of course. But, not here, y'know?" She says seriously. "It was a pleasure being with you."
Your heart grew heavy and you couldn't squeeze out anything. You simply waved with a warm expression and walked out into the parking lot. For the first time in your life, you had truly felt something electric. Not just the shock from Bonnie, but from Vanessa.

Personal Stylist
cw: slight Jealousy, confession fic, fluff
pairing: Raihan/Reader
------
You hated how embarrassing it was coming to the gym leader for help, but it felt like he was the only one you could trust for this. He stood outside the boutique casually, surfing through his phone without much thought. His signature hoodie rested on him as his hair caught a slight draft of wind. You swallowed as you approached him. Raihan's turquoise eyes shifted from his phone to you. His cat-like grin played across his lips. “There you are,” he gave a light chuckle, “I was beginning to think you had a Leon.”
“No, I didn't get lost,” you sighed and straightened your own coat nervously, “My train was late.” Another laugh came from him as his arm was thrown around your shoulders. You both headed into the store together. His eyes gazed around the area before he finally backed away from you.
“That so? Sounds about right,” he finally replied to your explanation, “Now, what did you need this outfit for again?” You felt flustered as you remembered the reason you had even contacted him for something like this to begin with. Nessa had offered to set you up with a model friend of hers for a date, and you had absolutely no idea what to wear. Admittedly, you were not that interested, but since Nessa had gone out of her way to this for you, the obligation hung strong. You cleared your throat.
“A date to a fancy restaurant,” was your answer. His eyes went wide at your words. For a second, you would even say he looked a bit disappointed. What? Was he hoping you just wanted a new outfit for social media pictures? You felt a laugh nearly escape you. With your response, though, he took you off to a dressier department and quickly went through a few items before holding a few tops out. His eyes observed you for a moment before he shrugged. A few were put back, while two remained out.
“Who did you score a date with, then?” he asked as he held the tops for you to take from him. You cocked a brow at him. Well, you supposed it was not an odd question. Raihan and you had quite a few acquaintances and friends that were shared.
“Nessa set me up with somebody she knows through her agency,” you told him as he went through a few bottoms carefully. Slacks were given careful judgment, while the jeans were avoided completely. His fashion knowledge was as trustworthy as Nessa's could be. How you came to know such well-dressed people remained a mystery. Especially with how popular and beloved they were among competitive battle fans. You leaned against a wall as Raihan took his time going through each of his choices carefully. His favourites were once again handed off to you.
“That so?” Raihan gazed around the section, “Well, hope he isn't anyone too weird. You have any accessories you would like?” You thought on it for a moment before shaking your head. Besides, it would be best to see how the outfit suited you first, then look for things like that. You walked off to the changing area to try them on, with Raihan following behind you. Trying on the pieces you liked most from your options, you observed yourself in the mirror with a smile. His taste really was good.
The door opened to reveal you to the man, who went back on to his phone while he waited. His brows perked up at your attire before he gave a whistle. You felt a bit flustered by his reaction. A thumbs up came from him. “Well, don't you look like you have a great stylist,” he snickered, “Good choices. I thought that colour would best suit you.” The compliments from him made you feel a bit overcome with an odd feeling. Your stomach churned with a fluttering feeling. You just nodded and grinned at him before heading back into change into your clothes.
As you headed off to the queue to buy your items, you caught Raihan glaring at his phone. The expression on his face certainly was not one he often wore, much less in public. What would his fans think if they caught him looking at the poor device like it owed him something? You quickly bought your stuff before returning to him. His eyes glanced at you as he approached. “Everything okay there, big guy?” you tried a joke name for him to lighten his mood.
“... You sure that you want to go on that date?” he asked you suddenly. An urge to give him a dirty look like he had not just watched you purchase items specifically for it washed over you. Instead, you pressed a hand on your hip and nodded. It only led to you swallowing dryly as he leaned over you. “You could go out with me instead,” Raihan offered. Your heart raced in your chest as you felt the scent of his cologne invade your senses. It was extremely tempting to say yes. There may have been slight feelings you held toward the gym leader, but he just simply felt out of your league. Why would someone like him be interested in someone like you?
“... Wouldn't it be rude to cancel so suddenly,” you argued, but he gave a light laugh and shook his head. His hand suddenly came to cup your cheek as he gazed in your eyes.
“If he complains, that is his problem,” Raihan's thoughts were not necessarily wrong, “Nessa already agreed to if you said yes to me anyway.” You gasped at him. Seriously?
“That's why you looked so upset!” you said aloud, “Were you jealous?” Raihan took a step back at your exclamation with wide eyes. It only lasted for a moment before his smug expression returned. Then, simply, he looked you directly in the eyes.
“I suppose I was,” he laughed, “Well, is that a yes or a no?” It was just in his nature to shrug things like that off easily, you guessed. No matter how many times he lost to Leon, he always found himself back training and debating strategies on how to beat him. It must have required nerves of steel to be active on social media like he was, too.
“Sure, why not,” you agreed, “Where to, though?” He hummed as you both walked out of the store and onto the streets of Wyndon. His eyes looked around the area curiously.
“I'll get reservations to a better restaurant,” Raihan shrugged and turned to you, “Be sure to wear your outfit. I would love to get a nice picture with you in it.” You sighed. There it was. Shaking your head pitifully, you grabbed his hand. Your lips met his cheek as he stiffened at the sudden affection. He relaxed quickly, however, and his arm wrapped around your waist to press you closer to him. “You missed,” he told you bluntly. His lips pressed against yours for a quick kiss. You relaxed into his embrace with ease.

———————
two months before the night that ruined everything.
you stared at your phone screen, taking a deep breath as you hit the call button. a few seconds went by before a voice picked up on the other end, “y/n?” “hey thom, sorry for calling you this late.” “you’re all good, y/n. what’s up?” “uh, uhm, me and brendan got into a fight again.” you said, starting to let the tears fall down your face. “i’m so sorry, y/n/n. you deserve better than him.” thomas says, look up at his ceiling while his heart aches for you. “thom, can you come over. i want best friend hugs.” you say, taking another deep breath in as you waiting for his response. “of course. i’ll be over soon, alright?” he says before hanging up the phone. he throws his phone of his bed while sitting up in his bed.
and thats when he knew.
he loved you.
“hey bordy.” nick said walking into the locker room, seeing thomas sitting in his stall,
“thom?” nick asked.
“thomas?”
“THOMAS BORDELEAU.” nick yelled from across the locker room.
thomas shook his head, snapping himself out of the replay of that night which took place a few months ago. “sorry cap.” thomas mumbled, getting up from his stall. nick laughed, “were you thinking about y/n, your little girlfriend?” thomas snapped his neck around, “what’d you just say?” “nothing nothing” nick said, throwing his hands up in defense. “yeah.” thomas scoffed.
later…
“is thomas home?” brendan asked owen, peaking his head into the living room. “nope.” owen said, scrolling through instagram. brendan walks over and plops on the couch.
“you still upset about y/n?” owen asked, turning off his phone and putting it on the couch cushion beside him. “yeah. i miss her so much.” brendan says, closing his eyes, thinking about you. “you should confront thomas. i mean him and y/n have been getting pretty close since uhm.. ya know. the party. and if him and y/n start dating, that’d be really messed up on thomas’ part, you don’t even have to be mean about it. just ask him if he’s planning on dating her.” owen suggested, shrugging his shoulders as he look over at brendan. “yeah you’re right. what time is he planning on getting home?” brendan asked, sitting up on the couch. “probably in like in hour.” owen said.
an hour later
brendan was in his room when he heard the front door open and close and soon after he heard thomas’ voice. it was go time. brendan got up out of his bed and took a deep breath before opening his bedroom door and heading downstairs. “hey bords, can we talk?” brendan asked, looking at thomas. “sure buddy.” thomas said, walking over to brendan. “so about y/n.. are y’all dating or even planning on dating?” brendan asked, eyes looking down at the floor. “maybe. we don’t know yet.” thomas answered honesty. “are you kidding me bordeleau? she’s my ex girlfriend!” brendan said, raising his voice which made some of the older hockey guys came over where the two were standing, incase the argument escalated. “bro why are you so jealous? you cheated on y/n, you must’ve not wanted her too bad.” thomas said as he stood there with his arms crossed as brendan clenched his fist. “you don’t understand thomas!” brendan said as he lunged forward towards thomas, provoking nick, jimmy, and nolan to get between thomas and brendan. “your ridiculous, brisson.” thomas shouted as brendan got pulled upstairs back to his room. bordeleau turned around to see most of the hockey team standing there, looking amused. “that guy’s crazy, eh?” thomas said, raising his eyebrows while sitting down on the couch and grabbing the tv remote.
a week later
you and thomas were iceskating in the yost arena, with no one else on the ice.
kent and owen were up in the stands watching you two laugh together and prance around the ice. “the night y/n found brendan cheating at the party was a mess.” owen mumbled. “yeah, weirdest part is, is that thomas didn’t even seem phased by it.” kent said back. owen say and thought for a moment before continuing his statement, “you know, now that i’m thinking about it, maybe the reason thomas wasn’t phased was because he realized that that night was,” owen sighed….
“the night he had his chance.”

"Please tell me you're not wearing that."
Elayn looked down, then back up with a wide grin. She tugged at her bright rainbow suspenders with her thumbs. "What, not tacky enough?"
Serana gave the ensemble another slow scan. "No, it's… definitely tacky. The combat boots with the khaki shorts is a nice touch."
The grin got wider as she stuffed her hands into her pockets. "They're going to be throwing candy, and I wasn't anywhere near prepared enough last time."
Serana rolled her eyes, but softened it with a smile. "You're ridiculous."
"Isn't that why we're dating?" her girlfriend asked as they headed out the door.
She took a moment to lock up while Serana laughed. "'Careless Whisper' on a boom box outside my window. I can't believe my dad didn't kill you. I know you stole that, by the way. We both went to see that movie when it came out."
"They marketed it as a romcom!" Elayn protested.
They were in the car now. It would be a trick to find parking, but they were running early thanks to Serana's habit of scheduling everything. Elayn was more the type to go with the flow, but living together had her adapted enough that the flow she went with was largely dictated by Serana's schedule. As a research chemist, she worked interesting hours at times, but Elayn was a good roommate, she cooked and cleaned, mostly because she had the time. Lacrosse wasn't a well paying sport compared to something like soccer, but the off seasons gave her plenty of time to maintain their loft.
"Five dollars an hour?" Elayn griped as the machine printed out their ticket.
"Homophobia strikes again," Serana said with mock solemnity.
She snorted and wrapped an arm around her girlfriend's waste. "Which park did you say this thing started in again?"
It was a little place surrounded by tall buildings, but it was a green patch in a city largely made out of grey. It being Pride Month, the grey was broken up by rainbows. The two wandered around as they waited for the parade to start.
Well, at least, they started to wander when Elayn caught sight of a dog and all but dragged her girlfriend over to say hi.
"What's his name?" she asked, so full of enthusiasm she practically floated. "Can I pet him?"
The dog's owner, someone with a short haircut in a crop top that was orange, yellow, and white striped, nodded. "If he lets you. Sometimes he's not so-- oh gosh," they said, eyes wide as they watched Elayn kneel down and offer a hand to sniff that was immediately accepted. "You must have good vibes."
"She's a dog person," Serana said with a laugh as the dog put its front paws on Elayn's shoulders so he could lick her face.
"What's his name?" she asked through slobbery kisses.
The butch grinned. "That's Duke, I'm Cas. It's nice to meet you!"
The two introduced themselves just in time for a volunteer to come up with bottles of water. "Our city got voted best water in the state," she said cheerfully. "Take a few, it's gonna be a hot one."
Before the march, there were speeches. The first was an introduction to the city's first pride parade since the 80s. The second was from a drag queen inviting everyone to the show later that night. Finally, the speeches were closed by an Episcopalian pastor trying to make up for the rest of Christianity's sins.
"It's starting!" Elayn said excitedly when the crowd started to funnel out of the park.
The march went down the sidewalk for a few blocks. Traffic was halted and the waiting cars honked while passengers waved. Elayn waved a lesbian flag, Serana had a bi flag, and the two of them dragged a rainbow striped cooler.
"Mom! Mom!" Elayn heard behind her. "Look, it's two cicadas going at it!"
She glanced behind her. There was a set of twins, about twelve years old, one of them draped in a trans flag and holding the cicadas that were indeed trying to reproduce. Elayn snorted and hit herself in the face trying to keep a laugh contained. "You like bugs, huh?"
The girl in the trans flag beamed. "They're my favorite! Well, except for tarantulas, but Mom won't let me have one."
"The rabbit gets out of its cage enough." The way the girl's mom said it, this was an age old argument. "I don't want to squash it when it ends up in my shoe."
"I had a snake when I was growing up," Serana chimed in. "A corn snake that never got out."
The twins turned out to be part of a family unit. One twin was trans, and their older brother was too, and as Elayn found soon, was very excited to start HRT. "Get a Gc2b binder," she said. "When I'm feeling like a flat day, it works really well."
The boy, a younger fourteen, practically floated with excitement. "I will!"
Serana chatted with the parents while Elayn occupied the kids. "Have you folks been to Pride before?"
Their mom, a woman named Chelsea, shook her head. "Nope, both kids came out last September and they've been talking about the festival ever since."
"You seem like really supportive parents," Serana said. It carried the weight of one speaking who has not had contact with their parents since high school.
Chelsea could tell, and she opened her arms for a hug that Serana was more than happy to accept.
The march was only about a mile long, and it ended in another park. Elayn craned her neck and said, "I think I see the beer line, wait here?"
"We will!" said the girl, who was very proud to be named Luna now.
Serana and Chelsea shared a grin. "I guess we'll wait here," the mom said.
It was a bit of a line, which was probably not a good thing, but apparently people were restricted on how many drinks they could buy, so at least there was that. While Elayn waited, she was joined by two people wearing pronoun pins that said "she/her".
Elayn's jaw dropped at the sight of one of the girls' dress, which was a flowing, fae like ensemble. "Holy shit!" she said. "You look amazing!"
She blushed and ducked her head as she smiled. "Thank you, I got it from Amazon."
"It's her first Pride," her friend added.
That just amazed Elayn more. "With the sparkles and the green eyeshadow, I wouldn't have guessed. Everything you've got going on is just amazing."
"Thank you!" she squeaked.
Elayn wasn't alone in thinking the dress was gorgeous. Another person came up to compliment it, and they had such dope tattoos that Elayn could not help but comment.
"The guy that did them is great," they gushed. "He does blacklight work too!"
So she got a website saved on her phone for the next time she really wanted to get a tattoo on top of the three she already had; scrollwork on her bicep, a wolf on her shoulder blade, and a small date on her wrist that was the day she met Serana.
When she got back to her girlfriend and the others, an IPA in hand that was frankly piss, she told them about the girl in the fae dress.
"I saw her!" Serana exclaimed.
"Amazon."
"No way."
Next was food, especially if she was going to drink a beer. Assuming she actually drank it. "There's some food trucks," she pointed out. "I could go for a corndog."
"I'm going to get some mac and cheese," Serana said.
"Mom! Mom!" Luna's twin brother, Ian, tugged at his mom's sleeve. "Can we get pretzels?"
Chelsea sighed good-naturedly. "I suppose. Do you two want to meet up after?"
"Over by the stage?" Elayn suggested.
The group separated. She found the line for corndogs and funnel cake. While she was waiting, the woman ahead of her glanced her way, so Elayn said, "Howdy!"
"Hey there, hun!" She clapped her on the shoulder. "Having a good time?"
"I am," she said with a grin. "Everyone here is so nice. There were some moms back there handing out hugs!"
"Well, I'm a mom, would you like a hug?"
"I would love that."
It was a lovely hug, the woman was warm and smelled floral. When they separated, she said, "I'm Elayn! It's good to meet you. Can I get you a corndog?"
As she pulled out her wallet, the woman waved her money away. "It's Nessa, and actually, I'd like to buy you a corndog."
"You don't have to--"
Nessa laughed. "I miss my daughters, you'd be doing me a favor."
They chatted while the line went down, about lacrosse and about university. It turned out Nessa's two daughters went off to college in other cities, so it had been a while since she saw either. "I had a son," she said. "But now I have a very happy daughter, and I'm so proud of her."
"I wish I had a mom like you," Elayn said, thinking about growing up foster care.
Nessa grabbed her in another hug. "Now you do!"
When she got back to Serana and the others, they were listening to the music booming from the speakers. She had to yell to tell the group about her new mom.
Chelsea looked a little sad, because she could connect the dots, but Luna and Ian were too busy freaking out over the cotton candy Nessa had bought her too.
Not long after, the stage was occupied. Elayn was chatting with Luna with her back turned, so she missed it until Serana tapped her shoulder and turned her around.
"Holy shit!" She hollered and clapped at the sight of a gorgeous, sequin clad drag queen in four inch heels doing a backflip off the stage and onto grass. "Holy shit!"
As it turned out, the drag queens took tips, and it was at that point that Elayn knew she was about to spend a lot of money. Each queen that performed, and there were many, got a five in exchange for the sheer joy Elayn got when the queen before her touched her hand.
When there was a break in the performances, she went back to Serana, who had a smirk on her face. "Should I be jealous?"
Elayn cupped her face, and in a fit of sheer enthusiasm, kissed her girlfriend soundly, to the delight of the twins who hooted. "Don't worry, babe," she teased. "You're the only queen for me."
"Flatterer." Serana swatted at her chest, but the smile on her face was pleased regardless.
It was all a blur from there. Fair food, loud music-- and Elayn found beer that wasn't piss! She taught the twins a new vocabulary of cuss words the moment she found out their mom was fine with foul language. They parted around five in the afternoon, when a voice through a megaphone warned attendants that the festival was about to start catering to adults. There was a concert with more drag queens, this time in much more risqué outfits that Elayn would have given a kidney to see on Serana.
When she said something, her girlfriend got a light in her eye. "Really now?" she purred. "Maybe for your birthday."
By 11pm, Elayn was high on the party atmosphere and a few beers. The festival was over, and the walk back to their car would be a trick. "Did you have fun?" she asked Serana as they walked hand in hand.
She got a kiss on the cheek. "I'm so glad I have you. When are we getting married?"
"When I figure out how to surprise you with a ring."

Our Small Slice of Paradise
Pairing: Frankie ‘Catfish’ Morales/Reader
Word Count: 1,696
Warnings: None, this is pure fluff.
Four years and one child later, Frankie is a whole new man. He’s a wonderful father, a diligent working man, a kind soul, and a beautiful husband. He’s had his fight and his struggle, and now he has earned his small slice of paradise.
“Frankie!” You called through the house, directing your yells towards the garage door. “Frankie! It’s dinner time!”
“Huh?” Frankie poked his head in from the garage, genuinely looking shocked. His daughter was across his chest, dead asleep. “What’s up?”
You smiled. “It’s dinner. Tell the boys to come inside.”
Frankie turned red. “How do you know they’re out here?”
“Because I could hear Benny through the walls.”
All four boys and Nessa came in, Nessa incredibly upset that she couldn’t sit in Frankie’s lap throughout dinner.
“Baby,” you grabbed her hands as she flailed in her high chair. “Baby! You can sit on daddy’s lap after dinner. But he has to eat too.”
Nessa pouted, crossing her arms. “Want daddy!”
Santiago snorted. “Wonder where she gets that attitude from.”
“Watch your mouth Pope, or you won’t be invited back.”
At your threat, Santiago wisely shut his mouth.
Eventually, Nessa calmed enough for you to serve dinner, earning you praise from everyone at the table.
“Delicious as always,” Benny said happily, taking a rather large bite. “Damn Fish, you really got a good one.”
Frankie leaned over and kissed your cheek, garnering childish groans from the table. “Yeah, I did.”
Once dinner was over, Nessa loudly insisted upon sitting with Frankie, so you all headed out back, where William set up the fire pit and went to grab a couple beers.
“So,” Santiago said, gesturing to you and Frankie with his beer bottle. “When is the family expanding again? We have bets, you know!”
Frankie laughed, gazing at you with loving eyes. “I dunno babe, should we have another baby?”
“With these boys?” You said, raising your eyebrows and looking at the three boys sitting across from you. “I’ve got my hands full enough. I swear, your friends are like teenagers.”
“Oh no.” Santiago shook his head. “You know nothing about our lovely Fransisco when he was a teenager.”
“Oh?” You leaned closer to Santiago. “Explain.”
Immediately, Santiago launched into a long and hilarious story about how Frankie earned his beloved nickname. Best you could tell between the laughter and the yelling, Frankie had gone on a road trip with Santiago before they’d joined the military, and they’d stopped in Louisiana. They’d gone swimming in a river, and poor Frankie had been bit not once but twice by a catfish.
“Well excuse you, those fuckers hurt!” Frankie argued once Santiago had finished.
You smiled. “Pope, where did the fish bite him?”
Santiago grinned a rather telling grin. “The first one got his foot.”
Benny, who was doubled over with laughter, sat up with wide eyes. “No,” he said dramatically. “You did not get bit in the dick by a catfish.”
“Have you never heard this story?” William asked, also breathless from laughter. “Pope told it at least twice on our road trip.”
“I was asleep for most of that.”
You leaned back, smiling at the boys. It was hard to imagine them as anything other than best friends.
“I’m gonna go put Nessa to bed,” Frankie said softly to you once his watch had hit 9. “Is the spare room set up?”
“Yeah,” you said, setting down your bottle or ginger beer and holding out your arms. “You stay with the boys. I’ll take Nessa.”
Frankie smiled, kissing you and passing Nessa into your arms. Benny and Santiago wolf whistled, but you ignored them in favor of carrying your daughter to bed.
Once she was situated and had been properly kissed good-night, you trailed back out to the yard, grabbing s’mores materials on your way.
“What in the fuck?” You said, standing in the doorway out to the backyard and just watching. Benny and William were wrestling while Frankie and Santiago were making bets, cheering the other two boys on.
Immediately, Benny sat up, smiling childishly at you. “Hey! Welcome back!”
You raised an eyebrow. “Get off the ground Benny. And William, I expected better from you!”
Both boys chorused out apologies, and you nodded. “Thank you. Now, who wants s’mores?”
Immediately, all four boys leapt upon you, eagerly taking the s’mores materials from you. Frankie dug out the s’mores sticks the pair of you had and you had to stop a joust between Santiago and Benny.
“Damn!” Santiago said, waving a flaming marshmallow around. “Fucking burnt it.”
“Oh! Dibs!” William said, reaching out. “I like mine burnt.”
“You disgust me.” Frankie smooshed his own lightly toasted marshmallow between two graham crackers and a piece of chocolate.
Benny shrugged. “I like mine more toasted than that,” he said, taking chocolate from you. “Pope doesn’t even fucking toast his!”
“Oh it is on!”
You sighed, not even bothering to do anything as the boys began to wrestle. Again. Frankie got pulled into the mess when Santiago shoved a warm marshmallow into his back. William, who genuinely tried to stay out of it, was literally pulled into it when Frankie grabbed him and used him as a human shield.
Leaning back into your chair, you munched on your s’more, watching the boys fight. It was good to see them happy, especially with how much they’d been through. They deserved to be at ease, not worried about some huge looming threat.
“You’re out of ammo,” you eventually pointed out once the fighting had reached fifteen minutes, nudging the empty marshmallow bag. “And you’re messes.”
Santiago untangled himself, sitting up and grunting as he rolled Frankie off his legs. “I’m sticky.”
“You’re all sticky.” You stood, heading towards the hose. “C’mon, let’s get you all cleaned off.”
It took some finagling, but with the right pressure setting and a good amount of scrubbing with the rough side of a kitchen sponge and some heavy duty dish soap, all four boys were mostly clean. You carried the pile of ruined clothes to the laundry room, hoping you could wash them tomorrow. In the mean time, something else had to be done.
“Who’s first?” You asked, heading back outside with a small bucket of hair care supplies.
Everyone pointed to Benny except for Benny. He pointed to William, groaning when he realized he had to go first. “Why me?”
“You’re youngest,” Santiago said, putting another log in the fire pit.
Benny grumbled, but sat in the chair you stood behind, waiting for the pull of the comb as you attempted to remove the smeared in bits of marshmallow and chocolate.
You were much gentler than he expected, using some old tricks and a warm washcloth to get the smaller chunks. The bigger ones needed more convincing, and you did have to cut a particularly stubborn chunk out, but it was a mostly smooth operation.
After Benny, it was William, who had less in his hair that needed to be slowly massaged out.
The brothers nodded to you once William was done, trailing into the house and to the guest room.
Santiago needed more time than Benny, softly chatting to Frankie as you worked on his hair, eventually seeming him clean once his shoulders were damp from the warm washcloth and small marshmallow coated snippets of his hair littered the ground.
“Well,” he said, standing and stretching. “I’ll leave you two crazy kids out here alone. Do not fuck each other, please. The walls are thin and I do not need to hear my best friend and his wife going at it in the backyard.”
You gave him a good night, and Frankie gave him a middle finger as Santiago headed inside to pass out on the couch, as he usually did when he spent the night.
“Come here mister,” you said, gesturing Frankie closer. “You’re a hot fucking mess.”
Frankie smiled as he sat down, relaxing under your careful hands. “Mhm. You love me anyway.”
“Not like this,” you said, tugging at one of the marshmallow chunks caked into his hair. “I dunno how much I can save Frankie.”
“That’s fine,” Frankie promised. “I’m overdue anyway.”
You smiled, spinning the kitchen scissors on your index finger. “Yeah, you kinda are.”
By the time Frankie was free of the marshmallow and the chocolate, it was nearing 11, and Frankie was having a hard time keeping his eyes open.
“Done,” you said softly, ruffling through his hair and dusting off his shoulders. “C’mon, let’s get to bed.”
Frankie followed after you sleepily, watching through half lidded eyes as you put the kitchen scissors back in their drawer, tossed the dirty washcloth in the laundry, and pushed open your bedroom door.
“I love you,” Frankie said abruptly, shocking you out of your rhythmic actions. You’d been in the process of getting dressed for bed, your day shirt on the floor and your sleep pants halfway pulled up.
“What?”
“I love you,” Frankie repeated, and there was so much sincerity in his voice that you almost cried.
“Frankie.” You walked over to him, still shirtless. “Babe, you’re exhausted.”
Frankie nodded, letting you take his shirt off. “Yeah, but I still love you,” he murmured, wrapping his arms loosely around your waist and holding you close to him.
You smiled, trailing your arms over his neck, threading your hands through his newly trimmed hair as he bowed his head to your shoulder. “I love you too Francisco.”
The pair of you stayed like that, holding each other in the moonlight, half naked, until Frankie untangled himself from your arms and tugged you gently to the bed. You fell beside him, rolled into your side so you were facing him.
“Hello handsome,” you said with a grin, kissing Frankie’s nose. “Wanna get married?”
Frankie smiled, poking your cheeks one at a time and causing you to giggle. “I dunno, I got this wife at home, and I think she’s a real keeper.”
You curled closer to Frankie’s chest, reveling in the warmth he provided. “Well damn. Why don’t you kiss her for me?” Your voice grew softer with each word as the night’s antics caught up to you.
Frankie kissed the top of your head, feeling your breaths even out as you fell asleep. “I love you,” he whispered one more time, feeling his own eyes close as he too slipped away into the peace of sleep beside you.

A SNOWBALL WAR - SHORTFIC
I liked the idea that @mrspettyferr have. So I write a shortfic. Hope you like it! ps: English is not my first language, be kind Couples decide to play the famous snowball war in pairs: Feyre / Rhys, Nesta/ Cassian, and Elain / Azriel. They just didn't count that Elain and Azriel would have a big advantage since she foresees the proposal in time for them to formulate a strategy and they are both very good at moving in silence.
Azriel was sitting on the chair when Elain came into the room and slid into his lap. A smile on her lips like a promise of secrets. She had run to the kitchen as soon as they landed at the river house, dying to talk to her friends Nuala and Cerridwen. They hadn't had a chance to talk much since Elain moved permanently to the townhouse with Azriel.
Nesta and Cassian had not yet arrived from the house of wind and Rhys and Feyre were upstairs putting Nyx to sleep. Just the cauldron as known where Mor, Varian, and Amren had gone.
- I heard something. - Elain whispered as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
- With that smile, I assume it was a good thing. Azriel raised an eyebrow and kissed her cheek, making her laugh before talking again.
- Rhys and Cassian are going to challenge us to a snowball war in pairs. - Az laughed at hearing his words, throwing his head back. - Cauldron save us.
- I think they've been planning this for a long time. - She concluded. - But the proposal will be made during dinner today. - Ready to finish them off? - Az smirked.
- Certainly. - She joined her lips to his and he lost himself in the sensation, it was always like this as if the floor disappeared under his feet and time stopped.
- They are even more sticky than Rhys and Feyre. - Az heard Mor's voice coming from the hall and Elain walked away, turning red and trying to get up from his lap. He smiled, pulling her against his body and resting his chin on her neck as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
- The beginning of a relationship is like that. - Varian entered the room, carrying several bottles of wine and nodding in the direction of the two. They were probably breaking into Rhys's stock.
- She is just jealous since she is the last single in our group. - Amren also entered the room, being followed by Mor who grimaced when he heard his words. Az laughed, feeling happy that he could finally show his feelings for Elain in public and she relaxed in his arms, leaning against his chest.
- If you want I can introduce you to some people, Mor. - Nessa entered the room, with Cassian in pursuit and Mor blushed while everyone laughed.
- I appreciate the offer, but I think I can manage on my own. - The blonde threw herself on the sofa opening a bottle of wine.
- The party is just beginning, use wine glasses Morrigan. - Rhys came down the stairs arm in arm with Feyre and laughed when his cousin showed him the middle finger, turning the bottle directly in his mouth.
Soon they were all settled on the sofa and Rhys made the fireplace light and wine glasses appeared on the coffee table, using a little magic.
- These three I already noticed were in my wine stock. - Rhys gestured to Mor, Amren, and Varian. The latter raised his arms in surrender, casting a look at Amren.
- I'm sorry man, I was coerced. - Rhys laughed when Amren rolled his eyes.
- Today I'll let that go. - The high lord turned to where Cassian was lying on the carpet, his back resting on Nesta's legs, who was sitting on the sofa. - But I want to know why you two are late. - A malicious smile painted his lips.
- Cassian takes more time getting dressed than a bride. - Nessa spoke pretending impatience and the general shrugged before saying playfully: - Beauty takes time.
- Some already wake up with it. - Az murmured and slammed his glass against Elain's, making everyone laugh. Everyone went back to drinking while they waited for dinner and soon the alcohol started to do.
- Hey, couple. Have you managed to break some furniture yet? - Cassian smirked maliciously, turning to the chair where Azriel was with Elain and Nesta slapped his arm, but before Az could think of an answer, Elain was already saying: - I think you would not like to hear details, Cassian. - Az laughed against her neck, surprised by the cross answer, and noticed her skin warm-up, for sure she was blushing.
- Wow, Az. What did you do to my cute and innocent sister? - Nessa was laughing and Elain rolled his eyes looking at her. - Our girl grew up. - Feyre put her hand over her heart as if she had been moved.
- Hey, I'm older than you, Feyre. - Elain folded his arms to channel her sister but then smiled. - You who always had a distorted image about me.
- She's still a good girl. Azriel turned slightly to look at Elain's face. - She’s just a bad girl with me. - Elain blushed, even more, nudging him. - I would be careful with words, spymaster.
- Is that a threat, baby? - Az brought his face close to hers and she bit her mouth, making him want to put his teeth in there. - Perhaps.
- Get a room. - Cassian shouted as he threw a pillow at them and everyone laughed. The noise made Nyx wake up and soon the little Illyrian was being passed from arm to arm, receiving attention from all his uncles.
- That child won't even be spoiled. - Feyre said wryly, hugging Rhys around the waist while Mor and Cassian argued to see who would hold Nyx after Nesta. Az and Elain had already played with their nephew as soon as they arrived, even the baby fell asleep in Az's arms and now they watched the scene with a smile.
Dinner was soon ready, and everyone went to the kitchen, everything was wonderful and Nuala and Cerridwen joined them. Mor who had won the dispute over Nyx with Cassian now struggled to get the baby to feed.
- I will never have children. - The blonde sighed. - At least nephews I can return to the parents. - Everyone laughed as she handed the little one over to Rhys, who easily managed to convince him to eat.
- Just because we were going to ask you to babysit tomorrow. - Rhys shook his head and Nyx clapped his hands together, making Mor melt looking at him.
- What do you not ask me crying that I don't do smiling? - She laughed, helping herself to more wines. - Do you need time just for the two of you? - The blonde winked at Feyre, who laughed.
- It is actually for an idea that these two had. - Feyre gestured between Rhys and Cassian and Nesta winced, probably already knowing what they were going to say. - Here it comes.
Az subtly turned his head to Elain, pretending to fill her glass, and saw her wave only once, confirming what was coming.
- We want to make a snowballs war in pairs. And without offenses Mor, you are the only one without a partner. - Rhys completed and Mor pouted. - Okay, my company will be great, right Nyx? - The little boy threw food upwards, having a party and everyone laughed. Cassian turned to the others at the table. - Who's in?
- Get ready to lose. - Az leaned back in his chair, putting an arm around the back of Elain's chair. - We're in. - Elain completed with a smile.
- I liked the confidence. But it will not be easy to pass us. - Nessa replied, turning to wink at Cassian as if they had some trick up their sleeve.
- Neither us. - Feyre and Rhys exchanged a look and Az imagined that they talked for the connection in their minds.
- Unfortunately, we left too early for the summer court. Varian looked at Amren. - But who knows next year?
- No way. - She said and everyone laughed again. "I will be enjoying the heat while you bury yourself in the snow.
- Then it's agreed. - Rhys raised his glass - Be ready at 6 am.
After exchanging gifts and when everyone had already retired to sleep, Azriel and Elain went to her old room on the property. The snow had fallen outside again and Elain walked to the window.
- Do you think we can win? - She looked over her shoulder at Az and he smiled as he unbuttoned his jacket.
- Taking into account that I won in the last 199 years and only lost last year because I couldn't get you out of my head. I think so. - She walked over to him, a sweet smile on her lips.
- I did not imagine that I would distract you so much. - She replaced his hands on the buttons and pushed him on his back to the bed.
- You have no idea. - He sat up and pulled her to the bed too, making her place one knee on either side of his body and sit on his lap. - But things have changed a lot in a year. - He moved his hands up her thighs. - And considering how happy I am, I think we will win.
Elain laughed, finishing unbuttoning his clothes. - We should rest for tomorrow then. To sleep early ... - Az proceeded to undo the ties of her dress, leaving kisses all over her neck.
- What were you saying? - He whispered against her skin, with his hands working quickly, and soon the fabric was loose. Elain laughed, pushing him on his back on the mattress, raising her arms then, and causing him to quickly pull the dress over her head.
- Wow love. I don't think we're going to sleep early anyway. - Az said, surprised to notice the cobalt-blue underwear she was wearing and she laughed, kissing him afterward. - Happy Solstice.
The morning came even colder than the night before, and Azriel and Elain went over their strategy again before going down for breakfast. Az was in his regular leathers and Elain was wearing leather pants and a heavy coat to withstand the cold. Soon Nesta and Feyre entered the kitchen wearing their Illyrian leathers, as did Rhys and Cassian. Breakfast was fast, and it didn't take long to leave for the cabin, Nestha winnowing with Feyre, Cassian with Rhys, and Az with Elain, Mor stayed at the river house with Nyx.
The snow was soft and untouched when they arrived. Azriel, Cassian, and Rhys exchanged a smile before the latter began to explain the rules to the girls, emphasizing mainly that the use of powers was prohibited and that if anyone did, the pair would be disqualified. Everyone agreed and split across the field, each pair in one direction.
Feyre and Rhys seemed to communicate through that mental link and the high lady laughed without a doubt, something he had said to her. Cassian and Nesta stretched and warmed up their muscles and Elain smiled at Azriel, opening and closing his fingers to warm his hands into the gloves, he noticed the movement and pulled her close, taking her hands between his and bringing it to his mouth to blow hot air into them.
- Ready? - He asked, smiling and getting more closer. She nodded in agreement. - Let's finish them.
Az smiled holding her chin and giving her a light kiss. - That's it! - Elain winked at him and they pulled away and turned away, walking the same amount of steps in opposite directions and ready to start.
Rhys counted down and in the next instant, the battle began, with snow flying in all directions. Cassian went on the attack, a technique that he had been improving in the last years and that Rhys already knew very well. The high lord laughed as he faced his brother, not noticing that Az appeared behind him ready to knock him into the snow. Feyre was agile and ran from the balls Nesta threw, and Elain as a good spy managed to go unnoticed while throwing balls when no one was waiting.
In a moment of inattention, Nesta ended up hitting Cassian in the face with a ball that was meant to hit Rhys in the back and enjoying it while they laughed, Azriel made a big mountain of snow behind which he hid with Elain, going over the tactics of the next one.
Elain jumped when Azriel pulled her to the side and in the next instant, Cassian and Nesta were rolling through the snow in screams.
- Are they fighting or kissing? - Azriel asked confused, trying to decipher what was happening and Elain spilled his head, also curious.
- Fighting. - She spoke when she saw her sister hit Cassian's head with a snowball and sit on top of the general who was lying on his back, but in the next instant, Cassian had pulled her down and joined their mouths together. - Now they're kissing.
Az laughed softly, getting to his feet and pulling Elain up, and soon afterward they dropped the snow mountain on top of the couple who clung to the ground.
- Eliminated. - Rhys's voice came from across the field, as Elain and Az clapped their hands and watched Cassian and Nesta coming out of the snow and not caring about the game, walking towards the cabin.
- Two to go. - Az whispered in Elain's ear, pulling away as she smiled and ran the other way. The wind was rising, lifting snow and making it difficult to see, but both were used to using all their senses and being sneaky.
Rhys was the first to fall when Az came out of nowhere in front of him and dropped him in the snow. They rolled for a few minutes, so couldn't tell who was who, but in the end, Az got up in time to see Elain use practically the same technique with Feyre.
- Feyre, darling. - Rhys called out as he got up and shook the snow. - We lost.
Feyre walked over to him, taking a look at the cabin where Cassian and Nesta were most certainly destroying everything. - Let's go home?
- I have better ideas, let's enjoy that Nyx is with a nanny. - And smiling, they held hands and winnowing who knows where.
Azriel brushed the snow from his hair and turned to Elain, who was doing the same. She smiled from ear to ear and he repeated the gesture while calling her with his hand and she ran up to him, jumping in his arms.
- We won. - She wrapped her arms around his neck and he laughed, holding her by the thighs.
- We won. - Az closed the distance between them, kissing her deeply, so that her whole body warmed up, even in the middle of the snow. - Let's go home. We have to celebrate before I freeze - She whispered against his lips and he smiled, before kissing her again as the shadows swirled around them, taking them home. Did you like it? Let me know in the comments

Mermaid Girlfriend
F monster X GN human, 2,796 words.
No story next week because it’s Christmas and I have shit to do.
It’s winter, and that means your girlfriend is moving in with you for the first time.
A ripple passed through the surface of the murky pond. You readjusted your position on the slick, slime-covered rocks that jutted out from the water. “If you splash me, I swear…”
An enormous tail emerged from the water and slapped down threateningly close to you. You flinched back as a few drops of freezing water landed on your face. Raspy laughter echoed in your head. “I didn’t. Water barely touched you.”
“Look, I’m trying to help you, all right? No need to be a pain about it.” You unhooked the small bottle from your waist and crouched, careful not to let your feet slip off the rocks. They were so wet and covered in lichen and pond scum that it was like trying to stay balanced on a piece of ice. “Where’d you go?”
There was a ripple to your left and you turned to look at it. The motion threw off your balance. One of your feet slipped. You windmilled your arms frantically, but it was no use. One of your heels slipped down off the rock and you could feel yourself overbalancing.
A cold, soaking wet hand pressed to the small of your back. You wobbled, carefully readjusting your position as the hand steadied you until you felt safe again. “Thanks,” you said, taking deep breaths to slow your hammering heart.
Your girlfriend lifted her head from the water and gave you a sharp-toothed smile. “No problem, babe. You brought the stuff?”
“Yep.” You passed over the little bottle. It was amazing how much it resembled pond scum while still being safe to consume. It was a deep green color, with chunks of plant matter floating among the liquid. You were pretty sure you wouldn’t be able to get it down without gagging, but Nessa took it with no sign of revulsion. She swirled it around at eye level, then popped the top and sniffed it.
“You gave them an exact ingredient list, right?” she said. You nodded.
“Of course. Made sure there were no substitutions or anything.” She took a little sip from the bottle, swishing it in her mouth and then swallowed. “Good?”
“Good,” she said. “I think. We’ll know for sure if I down the whole thing and I keel over.”
You wrinkled your nose. “Don’t even joke about that.” Wobbling, you got back to your feet and headed toward the shore. Nessa swam next to you, gliding far more easily through the water than you were managing on land.
You gave a sigh of relief when you landed back on shore. Nessa carefully pulled herself out of the water. You took a moment to watch as she heaved herself up onto the bank, appreciating the strong, rippling motion of her arm muscles. She caught your eye and grinned.
It took significant effort to pull the entire length of her body out of the water. From the waist up, she was roughly human, though her skin was greenish-blue and there were fins on her arms. From the waist down, she had an enormous tail, layered with beautiful fins. Altogether, she was a massive ten feet from head to tail tip.
“Oof,” she groaned as she managed to pull the majority of her body out of water. Her tail still trailed in the water, but it had been hard enough to pull herself up as far as she had, and anyway, she only needed to be mostly on land.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” you asked. “I mean, we can keep doing what we’ve been doing. It doesn’t bother me.”
“Yeah, well, it bothers me,” Nessa said. She stared into the murky liquid in the little jar. “I’m the one who came up with the idea in the first place. It’s not like you’ve been pushing me to do this or anything.”
“Yeah, I know.” You plucked at the sparse grass that grew on the lakeside. “But I still feel a little weird about the whole thing? It’s a big part of you, and you’re just… giving it up?”
“Oh, my depths.” Nessa rolled her eyes. “I’m not giving anything up. It’s a temporary measure. I’ll be able to come back whenever I want. Anyway, I think doing this for the winter is a good idea. You have no idea how shitty this stupid lake is in the winter. Everything freezes, the water gets cold as shit, there’s barely any food- I spend most of the time in a weird daze.”
You fiddled with one of your shirtsleeves. “Are you sure about this?”
“I am! I’ve told you a whole bunch of times. Look.” She pressed the bottle to her mouth and, before you could do anything, she downed the whole thing.
There was a long, silent moment, then she retched. You stared at her in horror. “Is it bad? Should I call a doctor?”
“No, it’s fine. It just takes like garbage,” Nessa said. She stuck her long tongue out. “Disgusting. Like eating pond weed.”
“But you don’t feel bad?” you asked anxiously. “You said this thing can go wrong.”
“If it’s made wrong. But you said you got all the correct ingredients and everything, so it’s probably all right.” Nessa closed her eyes and her brows furrowed. “Ugh.”
“What? What?” you said. Nessa waved a hand at you.
“Hang on. It’s just-” Her muscles all seized and she flopped to the ground. You gave a distressed wail and grabbed at her shoulder. Nessa managed, with a flailing movement, to push you off her and curled in on herself.
The seizing became worse, Nessa shivering all over with the force of it. Then, suddenly, she went entirely limp. Her skin seemed to sag and turn grayish. You stared at her in horror for a moment, then reached out and gently poked her.
The skin shifted under your touch like wet paper. You stared in horror, uncomprehending. No. No, no, no, this couldn’t be happening.
And then, just as you were about to start panicking, Nessa shifted. The skin, which had gone limp and unmoving, rolled like there was something pushing at it from underneath. With a wet noise, the skin sloughed apart.
“Eww!” You leapt back from the body, shaking your hands off in disgust. The skin shifted of its own accord, then fell off to the side.
“It worked!” Nessa cried, pushing herself free from the remains of her old skin. She squirmed fully free and kicked the skin away, toward the water. Now that there was nothing inside it, it seemed to have lost all integrity. It crumpled under her touch, tearing apart before it even made it to the water.
“You look different than I thought you would,” you said. Nessa had told you the potion would make her human, but that didn’t seem to be entirely true. There was some truth to it. She was standing on two legs now, looking perfectly balanced despite her inexperience. She was also smaller than she was before, though still tall. Her legs were long, but they only put her at about six feet in height, rather than ten feet. But the roughly humanoid shape was the only part of her that seemed correct.
Her skin was the same greenish color it had been, with her hair being a much paler shade of green. She still had fins on her arms, and new fins had appeared on her calves. They twitched slightly in the chilly air, folding close to her body. Her teeth were still as sharp as knives and there was an oddly smooth, languid feel to the way she moved. It was like she was swimming through the air, instead of moving like a normal human.
“It worked perfectly!” she said, executing a twirl on one of her new feet.
“Really?” you said, looking at her. “It doesn’t look like it worked perfectly.”
“I’m human,” she said, giving you a questioning look.
“Humans don’t have fins,” you said, giving her a playful poke. Her skin still felt slightly rubbery, much smoother than human skin.
“It’s transformational inertia,” she said. You gave her a blank look. “How well-versed in magic are you?”
“I know that you can use magic to do cool things,” you said. Nessa rolled her eyes and started to shrug on the clothes you’d brought with you. They were a little tight, but she didn’t seem to mind. You didn’t mind all that much either.
“Okay, so not a lot,” she said. “So, when you use a transformation spell, there’s something called transformational inertia. Essentially, it means that when you give a transformation spell to someone, it’s really hard to get them to transform fully, especially if they’re changing into another species. The more different two things are, the harder it is to change one into the other, and you can never have a complete transformation unless it’s permanent. It’s hard to go from mermaid to human, so I just used the potion that would get me closest- I can live on land now, I have legs, all that good stuff.”
“Oh,” you said, nodding. “Okay, I kind of get that.” You gave her a small smile. “Actually, I think I like it better this way.”
Nessa lifted her brows and waggled them. “Yeah? You do?”
“I do,” you said. “I don’t know. When I though you were going to be completely human, I thought it was going to be a little bit… I don’t know, weird? First of all, I was kind of worried that you were going to look like a total stranger, you know? Like, you’d have some similar features, but you were going to look so different I’d have trouble recognizing you. But now you look like yourself, just with legs.”
Nessa nodded. “Makes sense. What’s the other thing?”
You felt your face warm and you rubbed a hand over the back of your neck. “Um. Well. I kind of think the fangs and stuff are cool. It’s kind of, you know. Hot?”
Nessa threw her head back and laughed, clutching her stomach. Your face burned even hotter and you smacked one of her arms. “Hey! Don’t laugh at me.”
“I’m not laughing at you,” Nessa said, hurriedly smothering her giggles. “I swear, I’m not. I was laughing because…” She trailed off and gave a half-shrug. “I think humans are really cute too.”
“What?” you said. “Like… what’s cute about us? Our weird flat teeth?”
“No, the teeth are a little weird,” Nessa said with a giggle. “I kind of like the ears, actually.”
You reached one of your hands up, tracing a finger over the curve of your ear. “Our… our ears?”
“They’re all so rounded and cute! Most nonhuman species have pointy ears. Yours are so little and sweet. Just adorable!”
“I guess I never really thought about it,” you said. Nessa made an attempt to skip toward you, misjudged where her feet were supposed to go, and stumbled straight into your arms. You barely had time to brace yourself before she slammed into you, sending the two of you almost falling to the ground.
“Sorry!” she said, although she was laughing too hard to really sound apologetic. “I guess I still have to get used to my legs.” Despite saying that, she didn’t seem eager to stand up again. She swayed into your chest, giggling and poking at your ears.
“Okay, it’s starting to get really cold out here,” you said. “Can we go to the car now? You’re ready to go?”
“Give me a minute,” Nessa said. She turned toward the lake and waved her arm toward it enthusiastically. “Bye, lake! I’ll see you again in the spring.” She turned toward you, hands at her sides. “Okay. Now I’m ready to go with you.”
You offered her a hand and she took it, fingers squeezing tightly around yours. “you’ve never been a car before, have you?” Nessa shook her head.
“I have no idea what it’s going to be like. Is it kind of like riding the currents?” she asked.
“I haven’t done that, so I can’t say,” you said. Nesssa frowned.
“Guess I’ll find out,” she said.
Nessa pulled at the seatbelt as you fastened it around her. “This is annoying,” she said, giving it a few tugs. The locking mechanism activated and she yelped as the belt went taught. “Hey!”
“You’re not supposed to pull on it,” you said. “It’s supposed to stop you from flying out the windshield if we get into a crash.”
Nessa’s irritated expression melted into one of horror. “Does that happen often?”
“Not often,” you said. “I’m a very safe driver.” Nessa looked at you skeptically. “It’ll be fine. No crashes.”
“Then why do I even have to wear this?” Nessa asked, starting to pull at her seatbelt again.
“Because I can get in trouble if you don’t,” you said, thankful there was some sort of explanation you could give that wouldn’t freak her out. She shrugged, accepting that answer and slouching back in her seat. You started the car and she sat back up. “It’s just the engine starting,” you reassured her. She settled back with a skeptical expression.
The car started down the road. It was mostly dirt, so the car rocked and rattled as you moved. Ness stared out the window as you left the lake behind.
“Doing okay?” you asked after a few minutes of silence.
“Yeah,” Nessa said, still gazing out the window. “It’s interesting. It is a little bit like riding the currents.” She craned her neck as the last bit of the lake vanished into the distance. “Won’t see that again until it gets warm again.”
“You can always go in the bath if you’re really missing it,” you said. “The water’s even heated.”
“It’s not exactly the same,” Nessa said, finally looking away from the window. “But I do appreciate the gesture.”
You took one of your hands off the wheel and reached over to grab her hand. Her palm was incredibly smooth and you could feel her claws gently tapping on the back of your palm. “I’m glad you’re here. I was going to miss you over the winter.”
“I’m glad I’m here too. And it’s really interesting being a human.” Nessa kicked her legs. “It’s actually helping me understand you a lot better. Like. Knees are really annoying.”
“Are you having problems with your knees already?” you asked. “Are you going to have to borrow my knee brace?”
“God, I hope not,” she said. “You complain about your knees so much. I would hate to have the same garbage knees you do.”
You pulled up to your house and hurried around the car to open the door for Nessa. She stepped outside, staring at the building. “Huh. Human houses look different in real life. Really impressive. Merfolk don’t have houses like this.”
“You’ve mentioned,” you said. “Come on. Let’s go inside and I’ll show you around.”
There wasn’t a lot to show- the house was itty bitty, having only about four rooms. There was your bedroom, the bathroom, a little kitchen, and something that you had made into an office and a sitting room. “It’s not that great,” you said. “I know it’s a little cramped, so I hope you don’t mind too much. I know you’re used to having a whole lake.”
Nessa turned toward you and, before you would even process what was happening, she had placed her hands on your face and kissed you. You sighed into her mouth. Even as a human, she tasted a little bit like she had as a merfolk, a sort of pleasant freshness. It was a reassuring, sweet kiss that made your stomach lighten.
“It’s perfect,” she said. “Trust me. It’s nice here. And more than that, you’re here. I love you. I want to spend time with you. So, living in a little house with you is actually really great. We’re going to be together all the time.”
You giggled, resting your forehead against hers. Now that she was human, you were almost the same height- getting up on your tippy-toes put your faces almost level. “I’m going to remind you of that in about two weeks when your tune changes.” You lowered yourself off of your tiptoes and took hold of her hands. “Come on. Let’s get settled, then head to the bedroom. I think you might need a lesson in, uh. Your new anatomy?”
A sly smile crossed Nessa’s face. “Oh, I completely agree. In fact, what do you say we start there?”
You grinned back at her. “I think that’s an excellent idea. Shall we?”
Still laughing together in delight, you headed into the bedroom, the door swinging shut behind you.

I’d like to request Leon x fem reader mistletoe shenanigans, please! Like maybe mistletoe shenanigans are how Leon wants to confess his feelings? Thanks!
hi anon! this is so cute, thank you for requesting <3 i hope you enjoy, happy holidays everyone! :)
Leon × Fem! Reader || Mistletoe (Sfw)
Tumblr media
You walked up to Bea's home, headed for a holiday party amongst you and the gym leaders. In your hands you held gifts for everyone attending and you had your Pokemon, Noivern, helping you carry the gifts.
You climbed up the steps to the front door of the house then knocked with your foot. "Bea!! It's me!" You chimed while grinning, and the door opened almost immediately. It was Bea.
She grinned from ear to ear then realized the help you needed with carrying your gifts. "Oh! You really didn't hold back on what you got us, let me help you. Machamp!" She called into the house, her Pokemon coming over swiftly to receive multiple gifts from your hands.
"Come in! You can keep Noivern out by the way." Bea said and led you to the living room where everyone resided. All the gym leaders were talking amongst each other, having a good time.
As you passed the kitchen to where Bea led you, you noticed a mistletoe hanging from the ceiling. The thought of anything mistletoe-related made you blush a little.
"Mistletoe?"
"Haha, yeah! Who knows what can happen under that thing?"
You followed Bea to the area near the tree and set your gifts down, then turned to her when you set the gifts down.
"Alright, do whatever you want. You're welcome here, one hundred percent." She smiled then walked away with Machamp, leaving you by the chimney with Noivern and you sat then leaned back against the wall.
"Damn, you're spoiling us or something?" Raihan joked, even if they all had come with the same amount of presents as you. Leon sat beside him, giving you a warm smile. You waved at him, returning the smile nervously. Charizard was curled beside the couch Leon was on.
You rolled your eyes while giggling, "Shut up, Rai."
"Yep." Nessa said to Raihan about your comment to him.
"Please." Melony added.
The rest of the leaders all had a variation of agreement, Raihan only scoffed and continued the conversation with the group.
Noivern perched beside you then rested her head in your lap. You petted her ears and listened, laughed, and talked with the gym leaders. Charizard would occasionally shoot a small, harmless flame at your own dragon who blocked it by only lifting her tail and didn't even bother to look at the male Pokemon.
Every so often, you would catch Leon glancing at you which you would return immediately. You almost wanted to get up and straightforwardly sit next to him but..wouldn't that be creepy? The thought left your mind, you didn't want to think of the attraction for Leon you had while you were there. With how much fun you were having, you lost track of time.
Not like you really cared anyway.
***
Your eyes opened to the dark room, and it took a few seconds to process where exactly you were.
Bea and Allister's house.
There was weight on your lap, and Noivern's head still lay there. Now just asleep.
You smiled then looked around to find Raihan asleep on a couch, Allister asleep on a couch across from you. Still with his mask on, the sight seemed eerie. You looked to Leon's spot and he wasn't there anymore. The slight disappointment entered your mind and you frowned a little.
"Noi..come on. Get up, I wanna go get water." You said, still slightly groggy and moved her. She growled but remained in her sleep, once you set her head on the ground you were sitting on.
You walked throughout the darkness, feeling your way along the walls. Bea had been planning to have people stay for the night, so you saw more gym leaders on your way to the kitchen.
The light in the kitchen was on.
You rubbed your eyes and walked near the doorway to hear someone talking, almost to themselves it seemed.
"How the hell am I supposed to tell her, Charizard?"
It was Leon's voice, and you blushed. You couldn't help but listen more intently.
"And don't give me that look. Or I'll call Noivern in here too!" He whisper yelled at his Pokemon whose flaming tail you could now see from where you were standing. Your eyebrow raised at your Pokemon's name. Why would Leon threaten that?
"You two don't like Noivern?" You suddenly stepped into the doorway's light in the hallway, making both Leon and Charizard jump. Your arms crossed and you were ready to defend your partner verbally.
"Wh-What? No! I was just telling Charizard uhh..how nice Noivern is! Right?" Leon looked to his Pokemon who nodded quickly.
"Come on, tell me what you were really saying."
Leon stepped closer to you, about a foot or so away from you now. You could see blush on his cheeks and you softened, uncrossing your arms slightly. The sight of Leon being flustered at something made you feel your cheeks begin to burn. You tried to suppress the blush and failed.
"Charizard likes Noivern! That's all that we were here for, we can go now!" Leon explained almost frantically and earned a scoff like sound from Charizard. The Pokemon knocked Leon forward with his tail while careful not to burn him. Leon stumbled forward, mere inches away from you.
The closeness made you gulp, "W-Was that all?" You whispered and looked into Leon's yellow eyes. The eye contact made you want to crawl and hide away forever, but you tried to keep your cool.
"Ah..It's that obvious that it's not?" Leon said softly, the tone of his voice and feel of the room now completely different. It was serious, but not tense.
Leon put his hand on your shoulder and stammered out, "Y-You're really different. Do you know that? I haven't met a single girl who's even come close to comparing to you."
You stood in silence, with your eyes wide. "Lee.."
He put his other arm on your other shoulder, looking as if he feared you would run or something. "And, ah- I just..can't get you out of my head. Believe me, I've tried. You're so beautiful, inside and out!" A small grin appeared on his mouth and he tried to hold it back. The nerves showed on both of you, it seemed as if time had slowed down, as if you could hear a pin drop as well.
"So..?" You asked quietly. You wanted to be sure that what you were hearing was correct, that it wasn't just a dream.
Leon was silent for a few seconds and finally said what you had wanted to hear for so long. What you thought could only be something out of a dream you've had multiple times.
"I like you, and I don't think I can s-stop." Leon stuttered and shut his eyes tightly. You recognized it as something he did when flustered, never did you ever think it would be because of you. "And I don't wanna lose you as a friend so..please don't treat me different. I know I could never treat you different and-"
You cut Leon off by putting your own hand over his on your shoulder. "Why would I? Leon, you haven't noticed what I do?" You whispered and sheepishly looked up at him when he opened his eyes. Both your burning faces had smiles on them as you began your confession.
"I'm the first one at your matches, the last to leave. I look for any reason at all to be with you. You're so impressive, I never really thought..I had a chance." You admitted and continued on. Leon took your hand in his own from your shoulder, and held it gently between you two.
Your breath hitched at his gesture before continuing, "I..really like you Leon. You're so easy to be around and-" you groaned while trying to find the words to describe how you felt. "I love it, I love when we're together."
Leon had an idiotic grin on his face by the time you finished and he opened his mouth to speak when you both were nudged by Charizard's tail. You looked at the tail, then both of you looked to where it now pointed to.
The mistletoe you had seen earlier was now above your heads, between you. Your blush had just calmed down and you felt your face heat again. Leon's did the same.
"Ah..Mistletoe.." You spoke, both still staring at it. You gulped then looked back to him, and felt his hand cup your cheek. Every part of your body was frozen.
"Can I?" He asked quietly, still looking like a nervous and cute mess. Both your nerves comforted the other, it was nice knowing you weren't the only one who was shakily nervous.
Your eyes widened a little before you nodded surely. The silence in the room was comforting, and out of the corner of your eye you saw Charizard cover his face with his wings again, now attempting to cover his eyes with his claws. He turned around instead.
Almost at the same time, you both leaned in and met each other at the middle.
The thoughts and feelings running through your mind were almost too much to handle. You were kissing Leon, Champion Leon. The guy you never thought you'd have a chance with, who caught your heart so easily. Even kissing him was easy, his lips were so plump and soft you seemed to never want to pull away.
You let go of his hands to wrap your arms around his neck, he responded by putting his hand on your waist.
You could feel a smile on Leon's lips which caused you to smile slightly against his lips, you both pulled away with grins.
"We should um..do that more often." Leon chuckled with slightly pink cheeks. Your arms were still around him, he lowered the hand cupping your face to meet the other hand he had at your waist.
You giggled in response, Charizard peeked from his wings while turning back around.
"We should go to bed, it's late. Like, really late." You pulled your arms off him, returning to hold his hand. Leon nodded, then turned to Charizard. You grinned at the dragon, then spoke, "So..Noivern?"
Charizard's tail flame burned a little brighter, before he growled and seemed to roll his eyes. Leon laughed a little before squeezing your hand. "Come on." He began to walk out of the kitchen, leading you with his hand. Charizard followed quickly.
Leon finally let go of your hand when you went back to the living room. He smiled at you as you went back to Noivern. You put her head back in your lap while Leon settled into the couch beside you.
While you were stroking your Pokemon's ears and drifted to sleep, you silently thanked Bea for the mistletoe. It was a gift she didn't even know she had given. You finally shut your eyes and leaned on the couch Leon was on, not being able to think of a happier way to spend the holidays.
thank you so much for reading, requests always open! just might be a small wait 💕 -🥝

Hi dear! I can't wait to see what you're going to wrote! I was wondering if you could wrote something with "Listen, you look exhausted. And when you sleep you're sleep talking... Seems like you're having these recurring dreams." "When do I ever sleep?" With Vanessa and restless Usnavi (movie cast with musical elements maybe? Can also include other characters) xxx
I could’ve gone many different places with this prompt, and at first I did, but here’s what I ended with! I tired adding some musical elements, but I’m not sure how that worked out lol
Estresado~ “Bye Sonnito!” Vanessa smiled, waving out Usnavi’s little cousin.
“Sonny wait!” Usnavi ran through the store, multiple things in his hands. “Did you get your lunch? Do you have everything you need? Books? Pencils? Pens? Notebook?” Usnavi then proceeded to dump a bunch of stuff into Sonny’s arms.
“Woah woah, I don’t need all this!” Sonny exclaimed. “I mean… thank you so much but Pete told me what I needed already. I prepacked,” Sonny smiled proudly, hiking his backpack up his back.
“I’ll take a free coke if you have one,” Pete grinned from the doorway. Usnavi raised an eyebrow and shook his head.
“You two just go along to school,” he said. “Llámame, okay? Call me if you need-“
“Woah! What are the kids doing up so early?” Benny cried, waltzing though the doorway. He knew it was first day of school, he just wanted to play around with everyone. Benny grinned and ruffled Sonny’s hair. “Good luck at school today.”
Sonny smiled shyly. “Thanks. Okay well, we better go now, bye everyone!”
There was a chorus of farewells and the teens were out the door.
“Man, I remember those high school years,” Benny sighed, a relaxed smile on his face.
Usnavi handed him his coffee, Milky Way, and New York Post and he was on his way, leaving Usnavi and Vanessa in the store.
“Well then,” Vanessa smiled. “He’s off to school!”
Usnavi huffed out a breath of relief, wiping the sweat from his brow and giving Vanessa a sweet peck on the lips. “Yup. We did it! Off he goes…”
———
As the next few weeks went by, people came and went, and Usnavi seemed to get restless. Or well, he had a lot less rest. Vanessa started to notice he spent more and more time in the store, and if he wasn’t working with the store, he was filling out paperwork.
He’d try to sleep, but stress or something always woke him up. Vanessa would be there to comfort him back to sleep, but she started to get worried after a while.
She walked into the store one day to Usnavi, practically falling asleep at the counter.
“Usnavi,” she whispered. He didn’t hear her. “Usnavi!” She called out. He sprung up, tired eyes scanning the room and landing happily on Vanessa.
“‘Nessa! Good morning!” He smiled. “The morning rush is finally over!”
“But you still look sleepy,” Vanessa pointed out.
Usnavi rubbed his eyes and sighed. “Yeah… a little.”
“Don’t you think you should… take a break?” Vanessa suggested. Usnavi looked almost offended at the notion.
“Take a break? Qué es ‘take a break’? I don’t need a break,” Usnavi stubbornly replied.
Vanessa sighed, her expression softening. "Listen, you look exhausted. And when you sleep, you're sleep talking... Seems like you're having those… those recurring dreams."
"’Nessa, when do I ever sleep?”
Vanessa just stared at Usnavi, expression probably baffled. “Babe, this is what I mean.” She put a hand on Usnavi’s shoulder. “‘Navi… you can tell me what’s going on.”
Usnavi sighed and looked at the counter, picking at a piece of tape. “I just…” Vanessa took a seat on the counter, eyes attentive and ears open. “I’ve been kinda worried, ya know?”
Vanessa leaned back, thinking. “Why?”
“Sonny’s off to school, he’s not here to help me anymore. And now Abuela’s gone, nothing is how it was before. I want Sonny to have a proper education, but I also have to worry about finishing his documentation I feel like I made a mess so unless a-”
Vanessa took his hand. “Usnavi… cálmate.”
“I’m sorry Vanessa,” he groaned, leaning on her shoulder and squeezing her hand ever so gently.
“It’s okay. You’re doing amazing, you know that?” She gently placed a kiss on his forehead. “Sonny is so lucky to have someone like you. We all are. You’re doing your best, but know that you can take a break, alright?”
Usnavi nodded, blushing after Vanessa’s kiss.
“Here’s an idea,” Vanessa grinned, getting Usnavi’s attention. “How about you take me dancing tonight?”
_The End! El Final!_
sometimes we all just need a reminder that we’re doing good, and doing our best, and that our best it enough. if you haven’t already congratulated yourself on surviving another day, go ahead and do that now :)
that was my first writing commission, it might not have been the best but I’m working on it! Thanks for the prompt!!!
~~~
extra: Nessa complaining to Dani and Carla about a very stressed Usnavi:
“And I just don’t know what to do for him, because he can’t seem to take a break!”
“Well he needs more than a haircut,” Dani whistled.
“Maybe you two should go upstate,” Carla offered.
“If only I could tell him that his work can wait.”
“Have Sonny take over for a week, make him step up to the plate.”
“And make him miss school? That’s something he would hate.”
“¡Aye dios mios!” Dani cried.
Questions
Tumblr media
Just a sucky imagine that I’ve had saved for months. It mentions a bunch of my favorite people
Hi I'm (Y/n) Holland and I play Jules Vaughn" I say.
"Hi I'm- (y/n) you are not Jules" Hunter says and I start laughing.
"I didn't think you would catch it" I say laughing harder.
"Come on be professional" she says whining as she leans her head on my shoulder.
"Hi I'm (Y/n) Holland and I play Nessa on Zendaya's new HBO show, euphoria" I say and she starts laughing, wheezing as she does.
"I hate you so much" she says leaning on me as she laughs.
"Hi I'm (Y/n) Holland and I play Nessa on HBO's new show called euphoria" I say.
"That's Tom Holland to you" hunter screams jumping up from behind me and I laugh squinting at her.
"And take 14"
"Hi I'm (Y/n) Holland and I play Nessa on HBO's new show Euphoria" I say.
"Hi and I'm Hunter Schafer and I play Jules Vaughn" she says wiggling her eyebrows before she jumps on me.
"One crazy story from filming Euphoria. Go" she says pointing to me and I think.
"Quickly! Quickly! Quickly!" She shouts rushing me and I just say the first thing.
"When we first started filming euphoria I was on live on set and I made a joke about Zendaya only being my friend because of who my brother is and all of her fans sent me hate saying that's the only reason why anyone likes me" I say laughing and Hunter starts cracking up.
"Well they aren't lying."
"What's your favorite thing about me?" I ask. "Everything" she says laughing.
"But if I had to pick just one, it would be how giving you are because you will give your all wanting nothing in return and that's so amazing" she says kissing my cheek and I squeeze both of her cheeks.
“I love you so much for that” I say and she kisses my head.
“I love you too baby girl” she says wrapping her arm around my shoulder.
“If I didn’t know any better I’d think you were trying to get into my pants” I say giggling and she shrugs.
“I’ll let you know by tonight” she says grabbing a question.
"Euphoria is so different from any of your previous work. How hard was it to make that transition?" She asks smiling at me.
"When I first went into acting I promised myself that I wouldn't do any work that I wouldn't feel comfortable watching with my parents are younger brothers but then Euphoria jumped out at me and I knew I had to do it. The switch wasn't that hard at all. I just feel like it matured me in a lot of different areas if I'm being completely honest" I say and she smiles at me.
"What personality trait do you and Jules share?" I ask throwing the piece of paper to the side of us and she kicks it before it hits the ground, sending it even further.
"Probably the free spirit, I'm not nearly as cool as Jules so I only have half of the free spirit she has" she says and I shake my head quickly.
"I completely disagree. I feel like you, Hunter are way cooler than Jules. You walk around with this carefree attitude and you are so kick ass that even though this is your acting debut I look up to you so much, a lot of us do because you came out and ruled it" I say and she awe’s squishing my face.
"How does that one song go?" She asks looking at me.
"Stranger. Still don't know my name" I sing and she nods laughing.
"You still don't know my name and I would die your slave" she sings and I dance to it cheering her on and she starts laughing.
"You're so stupid" she says laughing and I smile at her.
"I forgot we were in the middle of an interview, hunter pay attention" I say grabbing another question out the bucket.
"Joe Keery" she says laughing and I laugh with her.
"Is that all it says?" I ask and she nods.
"Joe keery is my baby" I say and she starts giggling.
"Joe is my fiancé, he also plays Steve Harrington on Netflix’s hit show stranger things" I say but Hunter cuts me off.
"And if we let her, she'll talk about him all day" she says covering my mouth and I laugh.
"My dear Hunter. My honey bunches of oats, my little love, princess, baby doll" I say and she shakes her head.
"What?" She asks pretending to be annoyed.
"What's the reaction you want the fans to have after watching every episode?" I ask and she looks deep in thought.
"I want them to be as shook as possible. I want them to want the next episode the second they finish the one they are on because then that's how you know you have a good show. Actually scratch that, I want them to want the next episode in the middle of the one they are on" she says.
"One can dream of a show that good" I say.
"There is one" she says.
"Euphoria" she says at the same time I say "stranger things" and they crew starts laughing as we stare each other down.
"Future Mrs. Schafer?" she asks.
"Yes honey?" I ask and we both start laughing. "Another Joe Keery one" she says reading it to herself.
"What's it like being with Joe and does he love your friends as much as you?" She asks raising one of her eyebrows and I laugh.
"Being with him is amazing" I start and she groans pretending to vomit and I shove her.
"He's great and I'm glad that I get to soon spend the rest of my life with someone so loving, caring, selfless and beautiful" I say laughing.
"He really is beautiful, especially his hair" Hunter says smirking at the camera.
"And to answer the second part of that question he sure does, I think he loves them a little more if I'm being honest."
"What's your favorite memory with the cast?" I ask bawling up the paper and throwing it at her and she karate chops it.
"Easy. The one time me, you, Barbie, Ze and Storm were all in your car making the drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco and it was just filled with laughter, music and some good food" she says and I smile thinking back to that day.
"Favorite song that's been on euphoria?" She asks.
"There's so many great ones, but I'm going to have to go with that unreleased Labrinth song. The one that goes oh oh oh oh" I say doing it and she starts cracking up.
"You know, that one" I say smiling at the camera.
"I have to admit all the music he wrote for the show is amazing" she says.
"Yeah, it really captures the vibe of drugs" I say laughing and she shakes her head giving a look to the camera.
“Last message your sent to me and last message you sent in general” she reads tossing the paper away.
“To you” I say pulling out my phone and I go to my messages scrolling to her name and I start laughing.
“I said I’m showered and fed now it’s time for some head” I say and we both start laughing super hard.
“To which I responded go get it girl with a bunch of hand clapping emoji’s” she says reading off of my phone.
“That was two weeks ago” I say.
“(Y/n) and I don’t really text, we FaceTime more than anything so if you want to hear those conversations” she says laughing and I go to my last sent message.
“My last sent message is to my sibling groupchat and my baby brother paddy asked when we’d all be home next and Harry said he doesn’t know where home is and I told him good because we didn’t want him there anyway with two devils” I say and hunter laughs shaking her head.
“My last text was to my sister Hannah and she told me to tell (y/n) to follow her and I responded with I guess that’s all I’m good for now. Not even a hello” she says and I laugh.
“Now I have to follow her” I say going on Instagram and finding her so I can follow her.
“And done” I say and she shakes her head laughing.
"It's been fun guys" I say wrapping my arm around Hunter's shoulder "this was (Y/n) and Hunter answering random questions thrown into a bowl" Hunter says bowing and I turn to her and she turns to me "I love you" acting like I don't know the camera is still rolling and she grabs my face making it look like we started making out.
"I just want to apologize in advance because I know this editing process is going to be hell" I say going to grab my coat.
"They knew when they sent us" Hunter says laughing as she puts her coat on.
"See you later babe" she says grabbing and squeezing my hand before walking out so she can head to her next interview.
REQUEST: Birthday - Raihan x Reader One-shot
Tumblr media
Pairing: Raihan x Reader
[One shot - more like a Drabble tbh]
Sorry it’s so short. This was harder than I realised O_O I hope you like it tho
Fluff, SFW
Title: Birthday
...
It’s your birthday in a few weeks and you noticed Raihan had been acting weird.
Firstly, he started coming home late.
Like really late.
Secondly, he wouldn’t tell you where he went, just that he had ‘something to sort out’.
Third, he began smelling...strange.
Not so much like aromatic perfume, but more of a musky, earth smell.
When you google up the signs, they all seem to point that your boyfriend of several years could be cheating on you.
Raihan would never cheat on me, you find yourself thinking to yourself. He just won’t.
But what was really going on was that Raihan was planning a birthday surprise for you and had spent a long time with the presentation and preparation.
You’d been together for a few years now and every year, he’d gotten you something different.
For the first year, he surprised you with a designer handbag and a luxury weekend getaway but he soon learned that you’re not too intrigued or crazed about labels or enchanting locations but all in all, it was a lovely birthday treat and there were several good memories from that.
For your birthday the next year, he got you a baby Pokemon and whisked you off to Alola for a daring skydiving session over Akala Island.
And the year after that, there was no more beating around the bush and he straight up asked you what wanted and you said you weren’t too fussed because you don’t need Raihan to go all out or take you to such expensive places.
It could be also to do with getting old and being around him for so long that you didn’t have much to look forward to nor did you want anything in particular, you did tell him that you would rather just spend a nice evening with him and have a delicious home cooked, candlelit meal.
However, Raihan’s still determined to treat you so this year too, so he asked the gym leaders what would be a good birthday present for his lover and received mixed results:
Opal told him he should try baking a cake.
Milo told him a Wooloo is the key to a woman’s heart, but you already have one.
Nessa thought a meal at The Captain’s Table would do the trick.
Kabu said a trip to Hoenn would possibly suffice.
Piers also gave him tickets to his concert.
Raihan rubbed his chin, wondering if it was possible to combine all those ideas but then realised it’s better to come up with something far more original and something that would resonate more with you.
Therefore, he found himself sitting down on the grassy pitch of Hammerlocke stadium one day, writing ideas down. He eventually compiled a list and went through it many times, ticking several ideas off. He even resorted to online videos for inspiration.
In the end, he remembered how much you love Goomy and an idea formed in his mind.
Keeping it as a surprise was harder than preparing the actual surprise.
And the more he came home late and the more he gave you excuses as to why he was being so darned secretive, the more he saw your face falling when he would refuse to disclose where he was going, the more it pained him inside.
Finally, on the day of your birthday, you’re first to wake up and although you try to wake him up too, he’s exhausted because he came home so late last night so all you can do is get ready for work, wriggling free from his grip and slipping off the bed.
You silently get dressed albeit watching him worriedly before you head downstairs to make breakfast and as you munch on your cereal, reading this morning’s news on your phone, you hear the steps creaking one by one and soon Raihan appears in the kitchen, rubbing his eyes and yawning.
“Hey babe,” he greets you wearily, shoving his feet into his flip-flops and making his way to the sink where he fixes himself a glass of water.
“Hi babe,” you reply, watching him down the drink before he lowers his hand, wiping his mouth.
You both regard each other for a few moments before you clear your throat.
He looks at you expectantly. “What’s wrong?”
You’re grinning, nudging your head to the calendar.
Raihan watches you silently, taking another sip.
“...Aren’t you forgetting something?” you say, your grin widening.
He takes another sip.
You end up huffing, crossing your arms. “Rai. Today is-”
“Ah, that’s right,” Raihan says, before he smirks at you. You nod, sitting up properly in your seat. “How could I forget?”
“Yes yes?”
“It’s your-”
“Yes?”
“It’s your b-”
You’re leaning further in your seat expectantly. “Yes?”
“Brother’s seminar today, isn’t it? He’s hosting a special training event at Hammerlocke University.”
There is a brief silence following his reply.
“Oh....” you mumble out; you’re visibly deflating, slumping in your seat and throwing your saddened gaze to the floor, “....Yeah, it is. Funny you remembered that and not...well, you know.”
But he’s looking at the clock, “Shouldn’t you be heading for work now?” he adds, “You’re gonna be late.”
“Oh, uh, yeah,” you finish the rest of your cereal as quickly as you can and slide off your seat, grabbing your bag, donning your coat and slinging it over your shoulder. “I’ll be back at six.”
“Okay, see ya. Have fun at work.” Raihan says, and he pulls you in for a quick kiss before pinching you briefly on the ass, and you leave the house.
Once the door closes, Raihan rubs the back of his neck awkwardly when he recalls how disappointed you look, “....I’m really pushing it, aren’t I?” he utters to himself.
...
Raihan couldn’t have forgotten the date of your birthday, could he?
You’ve been together for years now.
At work, your coworkers surprise you with a birthday card and a box of chocolates which you are grateful for. You will be going out for drinks with them another day.
They ask you what Raihan got you for your birthday and if he surprised you with anything this morning but you tell them he didn’t mention anything but he remembered your brother’s seminar, not your birthday.
They’re stunned by the revelation and you think, hell I should’ve kept my trap shut because it sounds embarrassing but they tell you maybe he has a surprise waiting for you at home.
You inwardly hope that’s the case.
Work is over in a pinch and you begin to finish up for the day, leaving the office.
You always treat yourself to something nice on your birthday but today you will just pop into the grocery store and buy one of your favourite snacks.
Once you’ve grabbed a few packets and paid for them, you head home with your goodies and check your phone. You haven’t received any messages from Raihan all day; he’s been awfully silent since and you can’t help but feel extremely disappointed but also, this is rather uncharacteristic of him.
However, when you open the front door and step inside, you realise the entire hallway has been outlined with little chubby candles.
Your jaw drops open in shock.
“What the...”
And you hastily put down the bag of groceries on the cupboard and kick off your shoes, glancing around.
It’s a pleasant surprise so you step further down the dimly lit hallway, smiling to yourself as you marvel the beautiful display.
You follow the candles all the way towards your shared bedroom and you open the door only to bring your hands to your mouth to cover your gasp.
Raihan sits on the bed facing you, which is decorated entirely with rose petals and in front of him on the floor are a number of Goomy arranged to form a heart. They all look up at you, blinking their little beady eyes upon your arrival.
“Oh my god!” You exclaim before Raihan grins widely; he’s holding a little silver harmonica in hand.
“Hey baby girl,” he replies, as you gape at the group of Goomy who gurgle happily at you, before you avert your gaze to the gym leader.
“What is this????”
“Your birthday present,” Raihan’s grin broadens. “Watch.”
He lifts the harmonica to his lips and blow a single note which rings lightly in the air, and suddenly the Goomy begin to sing in harmony to the tune of the ‘Happy Birthday’ song.
You smack a hand over your mouth with delight and shock as they warble.
The Goomy seem to know when to take turns and harmonise in a series of watery gurgles and loud chirping and begin waving to and fro in a mesmerising pattern, their round and squishy bodies bobbing up and down in tune to the song whilst their little horns wiggle in the air.
The song is almost finished and a particularly chubby Goomy opens its mouth wide and emits a low bass tone to finish the song which makes you giggle.
You squat in front of the group once the song is over and the Goomy cheerfully gather around you as you hold your arms out.
“That was amazing!!!” you gush, patting each and every one of them on their heads and stroking their horns. They line up single file and you giggle and proceed to lift each and every Goomy off the floor and into your arms, hugging them tightly, and pecking them on the top of their heads one by one. “You guys were awesome!”
Once you’re finished, the Goomy jump up and down on their spots happily and you move to stand; Raihan beckons you closer to him and you eagerly step over towards him and he pulls you into his arms and settles you into his lap, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“I thought you forgot...” you say with a pout, fiddling with the white little straps of his hoodie.
“I’d never forget your birthday,” he murmurs, reaching forwards to press a sweet kiss on your lips.
“Is this the reason why you were always coming home so late? You were teaching them to sing for me...”
“Yeah.”
“And that smell!” you exclaim.
Raihan blinks blankly at you. “What smell?”
“It’s Goomy,” you chuckle and slink your arms around his neck, kissing him tentatively in response. “I should’ve known.”
“Hehe, but you didn't. Did you like it?” he asks, before he leans forwards and presses his lips deeply against the curve of your cheek, letting go to briefly nuzzle you at the same time, making you squirm and giggle in his grip.
“Yes!” you exclaim, before you throw your arms around him tightly. “Thank you so much, I love it!”
“Anything for you, baby girl,” he replies with a grin, and you smile as he encircles his arms around you, bringing you into a deep, passionate kiss.
EXTRA:
Raihan’s gotten you more gifts of course. He spoils you rotten.
Also, no Goomy’s were harmed in this production.
Note:
I even made a meme for this:
Thinking about nessa ans gray dancing in the kitchen at 3 am drunk on love 🥺
Definitely on one of the Friday nights when they get home extra late because of Grayson’s game. Grayson immediately goes to shower, covered in sweat and dirt from rolling around in the mud. Ness grabs an apple from his kitchen to munch on while looking through her camera roll for the night.
Grayson leaves the bathroom: soaking wet with a towel hanging low around his waist. Ness can’t help but admire him, looking at all of that muscle and that signature smile and feeling proud that he’s all hers. She doesn’t want to leave his room, kissing him sweetly before jumping in the shower. The hot water heats up her hands and ears, which went dry and frigid in the bitter cold. When she steps out of the shower, she hears music playing from the kitchen as she tugs on one of Grayson’s old, oversized t-shirts.
Ness floats out of the bathroom to find Grayson licking pancake batter off of the side of his hand, looking up to see her as his tongue drags along his wrist. She chuckled, taking in the image, “Pancakes? At 1AM?”
Grayson nods, shrugging slightly and flipping a pancake from the pan into a paper plate, “I was hungry. You want any?”
Ness shakes her head, reaching to wrap her arms around him from behind. While the radio plays:
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day.
When it's cold outside I've got the month of may
Grayson starts to sway from side to side, turning off the burner. Ness gently hums the melody into his back that smells like soap while his wet hair gently drips down his shoulder. Grayson turns around, making her laugh, and grabs her hands sweetly, starting to rock her from side to side.
Well I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)
Grayson starts to sing, wrapping Nessa’s hands around his neck and swaying his weight from his left foot to the right. He’s not even swaying to the beat, which makes her giggle. He takes the opportunity at the end of the first verse to kiss her sweetly, smiling warmly, and taking in all of her beauty.
I've got so much honey the bees envy me I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees
“You’re so silly,” Ness says, laying her head against his shoulder. She struggles to reach his shoulder with her head. “Put your feet on mine,” Grayson mumbled into her ear, still humming along to the melody. Ness takes his suggestion, lightly placing her feet on his and letting him gently sweep her around the kitchen.
Well I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl), ooh
“You’re so beautiful,” Grayson mumbled, drunk off of the moment and his own exhaustion. Ness blushed and started to nestle her fingers in the lowest strands of his hair, “You’re my favorite,” she quipped back.
I don't need no money, fortune, or fame (ooh, hey, hey, hey) I've got all the riches baby one man can claim (oh, yes I do)
Grayson held out his arm and Ness instinctually twirled under it, landing back in his arms softly. Grayson smirked, smug as can be, he leaned forward to kiss her. “You’re smooth,” she whispered when his lips lifted off of hers. “You’re sweet,” he responded.
I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl (my girl, my girl) Talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl)
They swayed for the rest of the song, Ness gently leaning against his chest and Grayson humming in her ears while softly singing off key. They closed their eyes, only opening them and stepping away from each other after the last note finished.
I've got sunshine on a cloudy day With my girl (my girl) (Talkin' 'bout my girl my girl) I've even got the month of may With my girl (my girl, whoa) She's all I can think (my girl) (Talkin' 'bout my girl my girl) Talkin' 'bout, talkin' 'bout my girl (my girl, whoa)
“We should do that more often,” Ness stepped on her tip toes to kiss his cheek.
“Whenever you want,” Grayson hooked an arm around her, pulling her onto his lap while he ate his breakfast for dinner.
Light My Way, Part 6
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7 - Part 8 - Part 9 - Part 10 - Part 11 the end
⚠️ WARNING! ⚠️   -It is a twisted story of Pokemon Sun and Moon, and a crossover of Pokemon SM and SWSH. -It features Hau and Kabu as the main characters. -Extremely angsty. -Everything is headcanon. -It isn’t spoiler-free.
Tumblr media
"Oh my gosh, he is adorable!"
"He certainly is! Hi, precious!"
Hau was stunned to see two strangers waving hands with a smile. Kabu discussed with the psychologist, and she said Hau seemed well enough to introduce new people. So Kabu ended the cocooning period and introduced his most trustable people, Milo and Nessa. He pleaded in prior to keep some distance and wait for Hau to come to them since he isn't fully trusting of strangers. Milo and Nessa agreed, not knowing Hau would be such a lovely darling.
Tumblr media
The Grass and Water Gym Leader had to pull back with all their might from the temptation to squeeze hug the bean, upon Hau hiding behind Kabu from a fright. He hid and gazed up upon a beefy farmer and dazzling model. Kabu didn't tell them the whole story happened to Hau in Alola, as he didn't want them to pity his new boy.
"Now, now, remember what we promised?" Kabu smiled and restrained them from patting and squeeze hugging Hau.
Tumblr media
As they planned over the phone, they sat in a circle and had teatime, sending a message to Hau that there are other strangers than Kabu who are safe. Hau peeked under the dining table to watch Nessa and Milo in turns, observing their every movement. They kept talking about the Gym Battles and Strategies, giving Hau time to adjust to them.
The way two Gym Leaders talk to Kabu friendly made Hau curious about them. He hesitantly and slowly approached.
He gazed at the two visitors with wondering eyes, and Milo and Nessa replied with smiles. When Hau approached Milo and clung onto his knee, he gave Hau gentle pats.
Tumblr media
"Aw, not fair! How is he already more friendly to you?" when Nessa pouted, Kabu gave out a hearty laugh.
"Well, maybe he is feeling the big brother vibe."
Milo cuddles Hau in his arms, after getting a certain comfy expression. It felt cozy and safe.
"Aw, you are so cute." Milo wore another grin, and Hau followed. Kabu was so relieved. On the other hand, he was upset with others who made such a bright boy so dull.
"By the way... Is that your towel around his neck?" Nessa pointed at the towel around Hau's neck, which Kabu gave him to insulate. So many challengers in Kabu's Gym uses Max Geyser to make rain, making Kabu need for insulation which was the towel. Galar's temperature might be too cold for Hau who is from warm Alola. Plus, wearing the same towel as Kabu was a comfort to Hau. But it was too big that it constantly slid off.
"Yes, it is."
"Pfft, it's falling off! Let me fix that."
Tumblr media
Nessa grabbed the towel and tied it prettily into a bow, just like a muffler around Hau's neck.
"There. It wouldn't slide off and insulate him much better!"
"Wow, you certainly are someone who knows fashion!" Milo smiled, as Hau was 10 times cuter.
"It looks much better. Thank you, Nessa."
"No problem!"
They all beamed, as Hau looked happy with a new muffler as well."Here, let me show you how to tie hair. His hair looks quite messy."
Nessa grabbed her spare hairband and hair clips from her handbag and tied back Hau's hair prettily.
"Oh, my. Hau looks much better like that. You should teach me how to do that."
Kabu looked with amazing eyes.
"Sure, Mr. Kabu!" Nessa nodded. Hau felt much more comfortable around such delightful atmosphere.
After finishing off the physical therapy to heal the aftermath of cold sleep, Milo invited Hau over to Turffield under Kabu's supervision. He said he wanted to give a surprise gift as well, for withstanding and finishing off the difficult physical therapy. Hau was amazed at gigantic Corviknight and Flying Taxi, and even more surprised at such a peaceful town. He sniffed the scent from grass fields and farms.
Milo was waiting for them, getting ready for farm work.
"You are suggesting Hau work on the farm?" Kabu's face was filled with immediate worries.
"Not the major works like plowing, of course!" Milo smiled.
"But I was thinking if he moves around the farm and play with pokemons, it would help him recover more!"
Milo persuaded, and Kabu accepted it.
Hau was looking at the two of them puzzled. Milo leads the two of them to his farm. Fluffy Wooloos rolled towards them, meeping and baaing.
"Would you like to pat them, Hau? They are very gentle."
Hau worked up his courage to pat one of the Wooloo. It was much easier since it was a pokemon. The Wooloo meeped happily, making Hau smile brighter.
"So cute..."
Kabu was thrilled to hear Hau's voice. Milo smiled along.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Together, the three of them fed Wooloos and played with them. Milo also showed him around the vegetable fields and gave him a freshly picked Pecha Berry to eat. He put the hat on Hau and gave him a ride on his shoulder too, like a big brother. Kabu was overjoyed to see his little boy bright as ever.
Tumblr media
"Now, ready for your surprise?" Milo smiled at Hau, and he nodded.
"Ta-da!" Milo showed a cute little pokemon, who smelled sweet like an apple pie and wearing a bowtie on his neck.
Hau stood there with round eyes, doesn't know what to do.
"This pokemon is called an Appletun! I trust that you needed a friendly companion too since you're old enough to keep one."
"Tun!" Appletun wiggles its legs joyfully, to say hello to Hau.
Hau looked back to Kabu, and he nodded to approve. Kabu also thought a pokemon would help Hau dealing with his stress.
Hau carefully grabbed a hold of his first pokemon, which he never had a chance to get in Alola. Appletun nuzzled on Hau, rubbing on his sweet scent on his new master. Hau was chuffed to have a new partner.
"Thank you so much, Brother Milo..."
"Would you like to name him, Hau?" Kabu asked. Hau thought for a few moments but decided fairly quickly.
"Maybe... Lolli. since he smells sweet like a lollipop."
_____________________________________
"Hey, you made it! And with a cute pokemon too!"
Nessa welcomed Hau to Hulbury Town. Hau felt home, as it was near the beach. After looking at Hau getting so much better with Milo at Turffield Town, Kabu realized he should take him to different places to show him beautiful sceneries.
Tumblr media
Nessa took Hau and Kabu to the boat and sailed towards the deep blue ocean. Hau felt the spray of water on his hand and warm sunshine on his face. Lolli was by his side too, enjoying the time. As Nessa showed Hau around the ocean and him happy, she smiled and whistled. With that, water pokemons swam towards the boat. Milotic nuzzled Hau and he giggled.
"Wow... You can call upon water pokemons?" Hau glittered his eyes.
"Most of them! I have been living in this town since so long ago, that I became friends with the pokemons!"
"So you are a mermaid, like Tapu Fini..." Hau smiled innocently, and Nessa blushes from the compliment.
"Aw shucks! You're making me blush. I wish I have a little bro like you!" Nessa beamed from ear to ear, as she cuddled the little boy. Kabu smiled along on the background.
_________________________________
Tumblr media
As time passed, Milo and Nessa became great siblings to Hau. They regularly came to play with him and invited him over to their town and showed him around. Milo taught Hau how to catch a pokemon, and he helped Hau catch a Milcery near his village. Hau later evolved her to Alcremie using the clover sweet from cafe owner of Motorstocke, and named her Poppy, from lollipop as well. Milo also didn't forget to bring farm-fresh fruits and veggies to give Hau. Nessa bragged to her rival Sonia about having a little brother she could love. Lolli and Poppy too had fun with Hau outside the garden with camping toys Kabu taught how to use. With all that, Hau not only recovered physically but mentally as well. With his body getting better, he brightened up more and more.
Tumblr media
But behind all that, was Kabu's hard work above all. Even when Hau made mistakes during the time when his body was recovering, he embraced it and encouraged him. When Hau was going through a painful process of physical therapy, he held his hand close and made him feel safe. He held Hau close when they go to sleep so that he doesn't get a nightmare about what happened back in Alola.
Kabu and Hau were bonding slowly as a family.
_____________________________________
Tumblr media
"Aw, he is such a bean!" the Gym Trainer exclaimed, as Kabu introduced Hau to them.
"G, good afternoon..." Hau shyly greeted, which made Kabu upbeat. He was proud of how far Hau came, as he is talking to people without pleading.
"I am fostering him at the moment, so please be nice." Kabu requested, and one of the Gym Trainer immediately went on to another question.
Tumblr media
"So, will he take over your title as the Gym Leader?"
Tumblr media
Hau's face became stiff almost instantly. He did not know exactly what Gym Leader is, but considering all the trainers following Kabu and the gigantic stadium, it should be similar or even heavier duty than Kahuna. Hau's heart started to weigh down again. He thought he ran away from the pressure, but here he was again. And thinking back to all the turmoils he has been through with his family, he was desperate not to let it happen again. He didn't want to lose the joy he barely got.
"Now, now. Do not pressure the boy." Kabu frowned, but Hau couldn't hear it.
He decided. He decided not to fight his destiny. He pledged to become who others want him to be, thinking that would keep Kabu safe. He never want to repeat the same thing that happened to Tutu.
Imperium 2: Chapter 8
Te amo, qui meus est orbis. (I love you, my world.)
It truly was funny, how little time they were given to understand what they’d seen. Starr sensed it, he must have, or he’d tracked them down and intended to stop them before anything else was uncovered. They couldn’t run, they couldn’t back down. They had to draw their weapons, all four of them, with tear stained eyes and broken hearts. They had to fight the very person that Nessa had been created to save.
Nessa struck first, in a twist of demented irony. She hadn’t even realized that she’d let go of Solstice’s hand, hadn’t felt the cool grip of her dual swords through her gloves, until she was charging ahead and activating an Art she didn’t know the name of. She’d dodged to the side as soon as Starr swung at her, and her blades sliced through his flank, seeming to deal more damage than before. Elma practically mirrored her movements on Starr’s other side, while Lin put down cover fire and a great distraction. Solstice stood still, backing up, a deer in the headlights.
“SOLSTICE!!!” Nessa cried out just as Starr screeched, sending a wave of fire straight towards them. Just as it was about to burn them, Lin shouted the name of an Art. Nessa couldn’t hear it, but Solstice became enveloped in a shining green light, and the fire never touched their skin, though it licked around their limbs, desperate for a taste, desperate to burn. That seemed to snap them out of their trance, and swallowing hard, they ignited their weapons: claws, long claws created from the light ether that had danced around them in the cavern, now sharp and pointed and ready for a fight.
That made Starr furious. He went to bite at them, convinced his teeth would break the barrier, but Lin’s shield was up and in front of them to take the hit. But Starr’s mouth stayed clamped down, and Lin didn’t let go, so when he flung his neck she went flying with him. She slammed back-first into one of the only surviving walls, minus her shield, which Starr spat out like a watermelon seed. Elma called out her name, but Starr took advantage of her lowered guard, and a claw swipe in her direction sent her to the same fate.
“Pongo!!” Solstice cried out, though Starr gave no signs of listening, interested now in his closest target: Nessa. She parried his claws with her swords, backing up as the strength behind his blows made her shaky. “This isn’t you! Please, remember your friends! Remember who you are!!”
Nessa had to admit that Solstice’s faith made her hopeful, but that was just enough time for Starr to bellow, his wings beginning to flap as he swung around and began heading back towards the giant gaping hole in the fortress that he’d entered from. She screamed, “NO!!”, before running after him. They’d run away from him, and he’d left them behind in a silent acknowledgement of defeat, but now that she knew, she couldn’t let him get away. Maybe it wouldn’t end now, and maybe it wouldn’t end here. But she’d end it one way or another.
Nessa ended up pouncing on Starr’s tail, digging both of her blades in just as he took off. Behind her, someone grabbed her ankle, and in front of her, Nessa saw Elma practically throw Lin up towards Star’’s hind leg. She caught hold of the fur, and Elma soon joined on the opposite hind leg, one dual sword sticking out of his leg while her other hand desperately tried to hold on to something, anything. Starr was unforgiving, as if he didn’t feel the little fleas clinging to his body, and he tore through the air with a venomous rage. Only when he was in the air did things begin to go downhill.
He swerved between the mountain tops, taking drastic turns in an attempt to crush his passengers. Nessa and Solstice, whom she quickly discovered was the one hanging on to her leg, began to receive the brunt of the hits. Solstice yelped when they nearly lost their grip on her ankle, but just as they recovered, Starr suddenly stopped and thrust his tail under his body, attempting to throw them both up into the air. Solstice was thrown with no remorse, and Nessa’s grip slipped, losing both of her dual swords in the process as they flew alongside her.
They both screamed - how weren’t they supposed to? They were so high up they could barely see the ground and, unless Solstice was some kind of a wizard, they had no party tricks to make for a softer landing. And to make things worse, as they both fell through the air, Starr dove down. Nessa wasn’t sure how Elma and Lin managed to hang on, much less get flung like she and Solstice had, but in the end Starr reached his paw out towards Nessa, his eyes burning with a chaotic and unpredictable rage, and he swat her further out into the falling expanse. She felt the wounds open and sear with pain, the blood unable to escae due to her freefalling.
“Nessa!!” Solstice cried out, their arms out in an attempt to grab her, “Take my hands!! I can -”
They were interrupted by Starr, clamping down on their body, teeth piercing through their torso. Nessa gasped, and Starr swung upwards, carrying all three of her friends along as she hit the snowy floor. She bounced, slid, stopped on her shoulder. Everything inside her body began to howl in pain, and as she tried to push herself upwards, she was met with a void. A gigantic pit, far larger than the one that Oblivia housed, far deeper and more ominous, a stark contrast against the pure white snow. Except, the snow was no longer white, not around her. It was stained blue, a beautiful blue, and that nearly made Nessa sick.
The ground shook as Starr landed behind her, and the sound of fighting continued. Nessa tried once, twice more to sit herself up, but her arms shook with pain and fatigue and no matter how much she tried she simply couldn’t get her body to listen to her. Two hands eventually appeared and helped her up, and Nessa turned her head, spotting Lin through half lidded eyes. Lin kept her head steady, despite how badly gravity wished to claim her, wished to return her to the ground.
Lin said something to her, but Nessa couldn’t quite hear. It was only then that she realized that her ears were ringing, occupied by an unwanted white noise. She shook her head, a guess to Lin’s question - was it even a question, or was it a statement, an exclamation, a worry or concern - and, with her remaining strength, Nessa got herself to stand up fully, her hands balling into fists as she turned to face Starr. Elma was fighting him on her own, and Solstice was down not far from their battlefield. Their blood, golden in color, spilled from their wounds, though it didn’t coat the snow like Nessa’s had. They stood freely, clutching at their stomach, one of their ether claws still extended. They locked eyes, and in mere seconds, Solstice’s eyes went dark. Baring their teeth like fangs, their other hand fell to their side, and the other ether claws emerged. They rushed forward to take Starr by surprise in the back, and Nessa could only watch as they fought tooth and claw with all the rage they’d pent up.
It was...inspiring. That wasn’t a good word for it, Nessa knew, but she felt an adrenaline rush hit her at the sight of two of her friends fighting Starr. She glanced around, trying to identify where her swords had landed, but in the midst of her search, Lin’s hand was back on her arm. This time, she could hear what the young Outfitter had to say.
“Take this. I’ll cover you.”
Lin offered out her gatling gun, fully loaded and primed to shoot. Nessa stared at the weapon for a moment before she nodded, taking the weight in her hands, shifting it to find a balance. Never mind the fact that she’d never used one of these bad boys before, she’d figure it out. It would be metal as hell if she could tear through Starr like scissors through paper and bring an end to this chaos in record time. Taking aim, Lin propped her shield up in front of Nessa, angling it so that it wouldn’t interfere with the eventual barrage of bullets. Once that was set up, and Starr was thoroughly distracted by Elma and Solstice, Nessa fired.
The barrage was like a whirlwind of shooting stars, and she made sure to wish on every single one. Some missed Starr by a hair, others struck him where it hurt. His attention immediately shifted to the pair, and another large fireball exited his maw. Lin had her shield up just in time to take the brunt of the hit. Starr leapt forward, clawing at them, but Nessa got underneath him instead and let loose another torrent of bullets. His underbelly, though covered in the same coarse white fur, wasn’t nearly as protected as his outer body, so when Starr screamed, it was from a place of sheer shock and pain. He nearly flipped himself over in an attempt to reach her, and one claw did, launching her forward - but straight into Solstice, who caught her before she went too far.
“If we can tie him down somehow, I can enact the ritual and revert him back to his original form,” Solstice said between pants, clearly exhausted, “Keep him distracted. My ether should do the trick.”
“Leave it to me, Sol,” Nessa smirked, darting forward to re-enter the fray. It was hard to run thanks to the gatling gun, but once she positioned herself in a new place, it became the least of her concerns. Starr’s eyes were shaking, going back and forth between his targets, fire bristling out of them as his ether lined flared up along his body. He struck at Elma first, who dodged with nimble grace. She didn’t look too rough, but it was clear that her excessive dodging was beginning to wear her down. Nessa fired another volley of bullets at Starr, but this time, he seemed more interested in attacking Lin, whose shield was still up and ready to take another hit. As he lashed out, however, the shield split in two, and Lin flew backwards, landing on her rear as she held the one sliced piece of her shield. Nessa reloaded as fast as she could, continuing to fire, aiming at Starr’s face now to divert his attention.
“COME AND GET SOME, YOU OVERSIZED MILLESAUR TURD!!” Nessa taunted him with a fierce growl.
Starr flared up with righteous anger, but just as he swiveled around, a string of light shot out and wrapped itself tightly around his neck. He shrieked in surprise, and more strings soon enveloped his four legs, and nothing he did could make him break free. He even tried to bite some of the ones around his front arms, but the string around his neck tugged him back, earning an annoyed and panicked roar. Solstice stood at a distance, their ether claws gone, their hands now wrapped firmly around the base of the strings. With Starr’s resistance, their foothold in the snow began to falter, but somehow, they remained standing upright, the muscles in their shoulders straining.
They began to chant, the voice raised over the growls of the angered Telethia. It was ancient Miran, a language unknown to Elma and Lin solely out of the planet’s own spite. Nessa could translate with startling clarity, and as the words reached her ears, repeating over and over and over again, Starr began to shrivel and shrink.
“I beseech the sun and the moons above, grant me the power of the star! Let this planet’s humble servant protect the land and the sea, the sky and all between!”
Nessa’s eyes were glued to Starr’s form, convoluted and twisting as the chanting took its toll. The fur receded back into his body, his wings and tail disappeared with time, and the ropes around his limbs soon tightened as his body mass depleted. Nessa almost couldn’t look away, but soon she saw Solstice starting to fumble, starting to tighten, and she limped over as quickly as she could. The gatling gun got left behind in the rush, abandoned after having served its purpose.
Solstice retracted her light ether ropes, her hands now shaking in front of her. Even though the transformation was setting in, even though their time as a humanoid was nearing its end, they looked at peace. As Nessa approached, they smiled with so much warmth and happiness that it almost gave her hope.
They spoke first.
“I -”
“I don’t want you to go.” Nessa confessed faster than she could ever hope to process, making Solstice’s smile even softer.
“I don’t want to leave. But I must. It is my duty, and it is my promise.”
“I...I know it is.”
There was a silence between them that they refused to break for far too long. Nessa closed her eyes, hoping to squeeze the tears away, and a shadow suddenly came over her. Something pressed down on her forehead. A kiss.
“I will never forget you, Nessa-vara’is. You are the world I swore to protect, and I shall uphold that until the end of time.”
Nessa opened her eyes, and Solstice was walking away, back towards Starr’s crumpled form. It was a haze to her, a flurry of bright lights and blinding views, but in the midst of the ritual, a new pair of wings sprouted, earthier in tone, completed by yellow ether feathers. Telethia, the Endbringer, took to the skies moments after. As the lights all dimmed down, Nessa became acutely aware of the glacial iris in her hair, perched carefully despite the battle she’d endured. She knew Solstice wasn’t gone, but they’d left their love behind for her. She’d cherish that for eternity.
However, in the end, all that was left behind as the lights finally died was a body. A bleeding, mangled, human body. Her brother.
Nessa wasn’t the first to reach him. Lin did. She shook him by the shoulders first, then propped him up on his knees when he proved to be unresponsive. He held that position as she took out her comm device, scanning for internal damage, life-threatening external damage.
“He’s stable,” Lin announced with far too much enthusiasm, “He lost a lot of fluids, but he’ll be okay as long as we hurry back to the city.”
“We should make a pit stop back at the caravan first,” Elma told her, “If Pongo’s not in good shape, it could be worth visiting Vanala to see if her ether can -”
“Wait...no. Something’s not right.”
Lin performed another scan, her comm device floating over Pongo’s body. A scowl was forming on her face, though it was quickly overtaken by a set of wide eyes and prominent fear. “He’s...he’s not there.”
“What do you mean?” Elma asked.
Nessa knew what Lin meant. Everything in her body went cold.
“The serum that the Misaaldi gave him, before his transformation...it erased him. There’s nothing inside this mim. It’s...it’s an empty shell.”
As if to prove a point, his eyes slowly opened, and underneath his eyelids, there was only grey. The same hauntingly void grey they’d seen in the footage back in the fortress. Nessa’s heart broke, perhaps for the millionth time that day, yet at the same time, she could feel it beating beneath her breast. It was lying to her.
She began to walk towards him. Lin stepped aside as Nessa knelt down in front of him, dropping her swords in her tired state. A newly emptied hand reached up to cradle an empty face. Nothing was there to receive her pain. She couldn’t even hold his cheek properly; if she pressed too hard, she feared he’d topple over, truly dead instead of faking it.
Mira spoke softly, a gentle whisper laced with a terrible sadness.
I know how to fix this.
“How?”
You are not going to like it.
“I said how?”
You...you have to return him to me. He is still a part of me, and if you return his body, I can recreate him.
“...you want me to...to kill him?...” Nessa’s voice cracked at the realization. “I...you made me to save him...this isn’t…”
You will be saving him. I...I do not know what else we could do.
“There has to be another way!!” She screamed, “I can’t do this!! I didn’t ask to be created for this!!”
Mira didn’t respond, but she felt the weight of its grief on her shoulders, and she knew that it never meant for things to turn out this way. Nessa’s hands fell to her sides, unable to stop her sobs from escaping. This hurt. This hurt more than any wounds she’d ever gotten, more than any bullet or sword or blunt force trauma. This was torture of the cruelest kind.
After a moment, she forced herself to stand, to return to where she’d been standing previously. Her guns were still strapped to her back, and she removed one. Fully loaded. There was no excuse to postpone it. She lifted her arm, the sobs strengthening tenfold with every second she stared at him.
The chill of Cocytios. Warm blood running down her arms, drying in the crisp and foreboding wind. The gun in her hand, pointed at the shell before her. His eyes were dead and lifeless, his body sitting perfectly still. How wasn’t he dead? He wasn’t moving, wasn’t responding, wasn’t doing anything.
Maybe, though his physical body said otherwise, he was dead. There was nothing left inside him but wires and circuit boards and all the little things that made a mimeosome human. There was no soul, no love, no personality. If Nessa tried to hug him, he wouldn’t hug back. If she called out to him, he wouldn’t respond.
So the gun in her hand, the shot she was about to fire...Nessa had to convince herself this was a mercy. That killing him - killing this husk, this former light in the world - would give him a chance to live one day, just like he’d lived before she came. And yet, though she kept telling herself this truth, that she was saving him by killing him and that Mira would restore him when he died…
Why did it hurt so badly?
Nessa had the gun pointed at his head. She could shoot now and be done. She could shoot, watch his body fall, and walk away. But looking into those eyes, colder than Cocytios, reflecting nothing, nothing, nothing - she just couldn’t. She knew what those eyes used to hold, what they used to look like. They were just like hers, full of life and adoration for life. Mira had cursed her the moment she realized she could see some of his memories, see the friendships he’d forged and the trials he’d overcome. He was somebody bright and beautiful, and now…
For his sake, and for hers, and for any other lives he managed to touch - Nessa had to kill him.
She squeezed her eyes shut, stifling the sobs that wracked her body, sending shivers down her skin that she couldn’t blame the cold for. When she opened her eyes again, he was still there, staring, waiting, expecting.
“I’m sorry,” Nessa breathed, her voice hitching in the back of her throat. “You’re not...you’re not him. I have to kill you to save you, and it’s so warped and twisted and cruel and you deserve so much better than this. But I...I was created to save you, just as you were created to save humanity. They’ll need you more than they’ll ever need me.”
She paused for a moment, the wind blowing some of her tears away. Many more came, and many more continued to stain her cheeks, invisible scars that she’d feel for days, weeks to come. “You don’t have to forgive me for this, either. Just... promise that you’ll remember me, okay? Don’t forget who I am. And remember that I’d go to the ends of the world for you. Maybe one day I can prove it to you in the flesh, but for now...just remember.”
Nessa swallowed hard. If she had any other words to say, they were fleeting, not nearly as sincere or formulated in comparison. And they would only delay the inevitable, they’d only delay his death. And she couldn’t do that to him, not any longer. Eyes wide open, holding her arm up as firmly as possible, she tried to smile.
When she pulled the trigger, and the bullet passed through his skull, a clean and precise cut that would’ve killed any man, and his body toppled backwards and over the edge of the bottomless grave…
She swore Pongo was smiling.
And that broke her. She screamed and cried and let her heart break loud enough for all to hear. Cocytios’s wind drowned her sorrow in the snow.
