i've said this before and i'll say it again: kurama is to naruto what neji is to hinata.
I love how Kishimoto tried to convince us that Kyuubi's storyline is done and his problems are solved when his main problem since the first time he speaks is that he lost his freedom and wants it back. And he doesnt get it back in the ending. Hes literally still a prisoner inside Naruto, having his chakra used in battles that dont concern him.
#naruto#naruto shippuden#kurama#uzumaki naruto#hyuuga neji#hyuuga hinata#like to be clear neither naruto nor hinata chose this! they were not put in this position by choice!#however it IS the position they're in#tbh the biggest difference is that it's made very clear that naruto is fully capable of freeing kurama#so it's entirely plausible that he could at least look into a way to do that without. y'know. dying#but we have no idea what hinata would need to do to get rid of the caged bird seal or if it's even something she COULD do#like it's entirely unfair to blame either situation on naruto/hinata BUT kurama/neji have the right to resent them for it#i think it would've been really interesting if the fox had talked to like. any of the characters on other teams#and neji just sorta. becomes uncomfortably aware that he Gets It#i think it would've been a good way to a) not entirely drop the hyuuga subplot for no real reason#and b) put naruto in a position where he's forced to face the fact that whether he likes it or not he's actively hurting someone#like maybe this happens before naruto meets killer bee#and then when they meet naruto learns that the reason bee and gyuuki get along so well is that bee gives him as much freedom as he can#like he has no way to set gyuuki free without dying and. he does not want to die. but he can make the best of a shit situation#hell minato's seal is called eight trigrams sealing style; you'd think the parallel to the main branch's secret techniques would matter
