The most glaring problem with Wanda and Pietro’s story in Age of Ultron
...is the fact that we never got to see their reaction to learning that they had unknowingly volunteered with Hydra. I get that having two scenes like that in one movie might’ve been a bit much (as we got pretty much exactly that with Ultron himself), but without that a ton of people came to the wrong conclusion and assumed that they were actually loyal to Hydra. As of now it’s not even clear WHEN they learned what Strucker really was. Did Ultron tell them? Did they find out sometime during the year they were in Hydra’s bunker? Did Steve tell them at some point?
It’s easy to make inferences, as regardless of this ambiguity the twins personalities show that they would never be loyal to Hydra’s cause, but this gaping hole in their story has caused a lot of debate over the years, and it would have been very easy to eliminate.

I think we need to avoid woobifying what the twins were doing to earn their keep in the time between their recruitment and that movie.
They volunteered to be Dr. List’s lab rats so they could have the power to defend their hom. There is a pretty big difference between that and signing up to be agents of Hydra.
I’m not trying to argue that they never knew they were working for terrorists. Even though they were recruited while Hydra was still posing as SHIELD, I’m sure at some point after the SHIELD data dump they found out (though I doubt Strucker called a meeting and admitted it). What I AM arguing against is the idea that either of them were loyal to Hydra’s cause;
I’ve said before I don’t want to woobify Wanda, and I don’t; I just think calling her a “loyal Hydra agent” is overkill.
How about people Hydra wanted to get rid of? People who knew too much or were being difficult?
Maybe? That’s about the best answer I can think of. Again, I’m not arguing that Wanda is totally innocent; she most likely did find out at some point that she was in the clutches of Hydra. But I don’t think she was necessarily doing it willingly and enthusiastically like so many people try to claim.
I’m sure plenty of the people who joined ISIS just wanted to protect their home country from the US invading the middle east. Then they kill a bunch of their own countrymen for colluding with the enemy or letting their daughters learn to read whenever they can’t get a clear shot at an American soldier.
Well... I guess if you really want to make Wanda look evil you can make that claim. But it’s clear from what little we see that the entirety of Novi Grad has been indoctrinated to hate the Avengers, so while there may have been outliers, unless they were actively opposing Hydra, I don’t think anything like that happened.
They both had the power to leave any time they wanted, but didn’t
I suppose you are correct, on a purely power-scaling level the twins might have been able to overpower their captors and escape. But there are two things I think are worth pointing out:
1. in the Winter Soldier mid-credit scene and in the WandaVision flashback Wanda looks very emaciated and malnourished, but at the start of Age of Ultron she looks pretty healthy. These two were homeless before; if Strucker was keeping them well-fed in exchange for letting him and List study them, I think that’s enough of a reason to stay for the time being.
2. even though they could fight their way out... it’s entirely possible both of them were too afraid to try.
You can’t redeem a character who never did anything seriously wrong.
Here is a list of everything Wanda and Pietro did wrong prior to joining the Avengers:
- trusting Baron Strucker and Dr. List when they promised them that they could give them the power to defend their homes
- didn’t risk their lives trying to escape from Hydra after finding out that they shared their shelter with terrorists
- it’s arguable whether or not it was wrong for them to blame Tony for the death of their parents, but I think it’s understandable that they did
- trusting Ultron when he promised them he could destroy the Avengers, whom they had been indoctrinated to hate.
That’s not to say she didn’t need redemption, as she most likely did practice her powers on Hydra’s victims as you claim, and she did still aid and abet Ultron, but I’m sorry, I am always going to push against the idea that she is some delusional psycho who was loyal to both Hydra and Ultron and only left out of self-preservation.

🤨🤨
I'm sick of people blaming Wanda instead of accepting that MoM was clearly massive character shift and poorly written. Wanda's not real, she is a fictional character at the whims of the writing. When previous story ended with Wanda giving up her own happiness for the sake of others to indiscriminately murdering anyone to get what she wants that's not consistent or quality writing. Putting redemption aside for the moment what I want is that character derailment rectified.

“Pietro! Y/n! You're both dead!” Wanda screeches from the top of the stairs of the basement. You and Pietro look at each other and laugh. You hand him the joint that the two of you are passing back and forth. Wanda stomps her way down the stairs and neither of you move from your seats. You're on a bean bag chair and Pietro is sitting on an expensive gaming chair. The pair of you are playing a zombie game together. “You idiots think you're so fuckin funny don't you?” She points to her face with sharpie dicks drawn around it. “This isn't funny, I have to go to work unlike you bums!”
“Hey, we work,” you say defensively. Then a mischievous smirk pulls on your lips. “As a matter of fact, we're working right now,” you point to the camera that is pointed at you and Pietro, “say hi to our audience!”
Wanda’s eyes nearly pop out of her head as she sees herself on the computer screen monitoring the live stream. “Ugh! I hate you!” She runs up the stairs feeling completely humiliated. You and Pietro break out laughing. You can't help but check out her ass as she storms off.
“Woah! Hey! What are you doing?” Pietro shouts because your character in the game is being attacked by a hoard of zombies.
“Shit!” You say as you quickly get back into the game. There are crude comments on the stream being left about Wanda and some comments of how they caught you checking her out. You don't notice them as you continue playing the game with Pietro.
••••
“Wanda! Hurry up! We don't have all night!” You shout down the hall. The house you lived in with the twins had four bedrooms and two bathrooms on the main level. It was a small off campus house. There used to be a fourth roommate. She's still Wanda’s best friend but she moved out. You couldn't remember why. Wanda runs out of the bathroom in a little black dress with her hair and makeup done. She usually didn't do this much when going out and her look made you do a double take. This was not the Wanda you grew up with. And you couldn't tell if you liked it or not.
“Alright, let's go,” she says as she walks past you.
“Woah, you're going out like that? Where are you going to put your wallet or your phone? You can't leave like that,” you say as you catch up to her.
Wanda shrugs with a sultry smile, “Do you have a problem with the way I look?”
“As a matter of fact, I do,” you state. “I think you're setting women back a hundred years and quite frankly, I find it offensive.”
Wanda makes a “really” face and scoffs. “Ah so you're a feminist today?” She shakes her head as she opens the front door. “You're such a hey mama sometimes.”
You roll your eyes, you hate being called that. “Why did anyone ever think there needed to be a lesbian version of fuckboi?” You groan as you follow her out the door.
“Will you ladies hurry! I'm not trying to get my rating down because you two take ages to get ready!” Pietro grouches from the backseat of the Uber. He hands the driver a hundred dollar bill to avoid a rating lower than five stars. You lock the front door before you climb into the car with the twins. “You're going out like that?” Pietro asks his sister. “You never go out like that.”
“That's what I'm saying!” You throw your hands up.
“Good for you sis,” Pietro holds his fist of for Wanda to bump. She does so with a laugh. “I hope you feel comfortable and confident because you look great.”
You make noises to express your shock with your mouth open. Wanda smiles at you and puts her fingers under your chin. “Close your mouth, don't want to catch any bugs.”
You clamp your mouth shut and narrow your eyes at her. “I'm not paying for your drinks.”
Wanda shrugs and slips her hand away from you. “I never asked you to.”
“Will you two stop bickering? We're supposed to have fun tonight. So let's just have fun,” Pietro says.
“P, we have been friends since we were five years old. Wanda and I have been enemies for the same length of time. You're still not used to this? It's the dynamic,” you defend yourself. Wanda agrees with you. “See?”
Pietro shakes his head. “It's gotten old. I thought that living together the two of you would at least try to get along.” He crosses his arms over his chest as he grows upset. “But no, all you two ever want to do is fight. It's exhausting living with you.”
“Ooh, I think he's really mad,” Wanda mutters as she looks between you and her brother. Neither of you take him serious and the both of you bust out laughing
Pietro glares at the both of you. “Excuse me, Happy? Do you mind pulling over just up ahead?” The Uber driver pulls over and stalls the car. “Both of you, out,” Pietro says with a fed up tone. You look at him like he's crazy but he doesn't let it go. You and Wanda start to apologize but in doing so, you two start arguing over whose fault it is. So you both exit the car and he takes the Uber the rest of the way to the party.
“Unbelievable,” you mumble as you shake your head. “You couldn't have just not been so irritating for once?” You gesture, frustrated with her and with the situation.
“Me?” Wanda is offended by the accusation and lack of accountability. “You're the one who wouldn't shut up about my outfit. Which by the way, I don't understand why it bothers you so damn much. It's not any different from what the girls who catch your eye wear!”
“Is that what you're trying to do, Wanda?” You ask, annoyed with the implication that you are as simple minded as any guy. If only she knew how you really felt about her. But you couldn't do that to your best friend. You wouldn't.
“Gross, don't think so highly of yourself,” her face is convincingly disgusted but deep down the answer is yes. “I'm just tired of being overlooked! I'm hot dammit and tonight, I'm finally going to get laid!” Wanda starts walking in the direction of the fraternity where the party was being hosted.
You jog to catch up with her, “Wanda, you can't be serious. You’re not that type of girl.”
“What makes you so sure that I'm not? I can be any type of girl I want to be,” she fires back stubbornly. “Tonight, I'm going to be like you.”
“Fine, whatever,” you say, annoyed that she'd use your actions against you. “Just be careful. There are a lot of guys who won't think twice about taking advantage of you.”
“Oh, is that what you do to the girls that dress like this?” She retorts.
You shake your head, hurt by the accusation. “That’s low, even for you. Look, all I was trying to do was prepare you. But you don't want my help. Fine.” You walk a bit faster than her to create a distance between the two of you. Wanda feels stupid for the comment but she doesn't apologize. She just keeps the distance between the two of you as you guys walk to the party.
••••
You are talking with Natasha, Wanda’s best friend, with a flirtatious smirk. She looked like she was on a mission to get someone's attention and though you doubt it was yours, she had it. “Hey, why did you move out? We could have had so much fun together,” you say as you play with her hair.
Natasha rolls her eyes, “We had our fun and then you proceeded to treat me like I never existed to you. Yeah, no thank you.”
You pout, “Oh come on, are you still upset about that? I'm not the commiting type. You know that.” You put your hand on the wall above her head, somewhat trapping her between you and the wall. Your bicep flexes and you catch her ogling you. That gives you the upper hand and you smirk. “If I remember correctly, that's all you wanted because you were trying to get over that Maria chick.” You lean in close and whisper, “I believe I cleared your mind of her for hours that night.”
Natasha shivers at the memory and almost kisses you. But she clears her throat and steps away from you. “No one likes being treated like they're invisible. No matter what the circumstances are,” she says before she walks away.
You frown and shake your head. You look around the room and find Wanda chatting with her friend Carol. You smirk as you recall being able to convince her to join you for a sleepover more than once. You walk over to them with intentions to get Carol to walk away with you. “Hey,” you start as you approach.
“Nope,” Carol walks away from you and Wanda and you frown.
“Damn, two strikes in less than ten minutes. What's wrong with my game?” You ask yourself out loud then you take a sip from your cup.
“They made a pact against you,” Wanda says over the loud music. You make a face, thrown off by the news. “You can't keep sleeping with my friends. They're done with you and your hey mama ways.”
You groan at the term. “Will you stop calling me that?”
“Sure,” Wanda says simply. “Just stop being one,” she walks away before you can start an argument. You start to look around the party to find someone you haven't slept with that you think you have a shot with. But it was slim pickings. You sighed as you feared that it would just be you and your fleshlight tonight.
••••
As you make your way through the house, you hear some commotion. Instead of ignoring it, you search for the source. “Stop,” Wanda says as a guy pulls her onto his lap. She swats at his hands as he tries to slip them up her dress.
“Come on baby,” the guy says, “you know you want this.” He doesn't let up and puts his hands on her breasts.
You burst through the room and pull Wanda off of him. “Get away from her!”
“Woah chill,” the guy holds his hands up. “We were just having some fun.”
You raise your fist In disgust and Wanda catches you. “Y/n! Cut it out!” You turn around, astonished that even when you defend her she's annoyed with you. “He wasn't doing anything I didn't want,” she says.
You scowl, “Don't defend him! I heard you tell him to stop!”
“He was tickling me, you know how much I hate that,” she raises her voice to match your level.
“I'm just going to go,” the guy says awkwardly.
“You stay,” she points to the guy. “You go,” she points at you.
“No, I'm not leaving you with this guy,” you state stubbornly.
“Get out!” She says as she tries to push you away. “Why do you have to ruin everything for me?”
You don't know what comes over you when you pull her in and plant your lips against yours. She breaks away from your kiss and smacks you across the face. You both stare at each other in shock then she grabs you by the collar of your shirt and pulls you in for another kiss. This one is a lot more aggressive than the previous.
“Now is the time for me to go,” the guy says as he slips out of the room, shutting the door behind him. You and Wanda are too lost in each other to care.
She starts to unbutton your shirt and you're surprised that she is being so assertive. You walk backwards until you fall onto the couch with your lips still attached to hers. She straddles your hips while kissing you. Her teeth clamp down on your bottom lip and you groan in pleasure. You put your hands on her ass and boldly give her right cheek a light smack. She yelps, “No, don't do that.”
“Okay,” you say just before kissing her again. For years you've refrained from doing this. Every time you had the urge, you redirected your attention to one of her friends. Each of them had a few traits that reminded you of Wanda. It felt like since you couldn't have the real her, you could settle for pieces that reminded you of her. Now that you have her, you don't think you could ever go back to before this.
“Do you have a condom on you?” Wanda asks as she rolls her hips on your bulging member.
“Yeah,” you say as if the answer was obvious. You pull out your wallet from your pocket and fish out the prophylactic. Wanda dips her hand between her legs and you thought she was adjusting her underwear but instead she was unzipping your fly. You jump a little when she slips her hand through your boxers and pulls your cock through the hole. You moan as you finally feel her stroke you after years of fantasizing about the day her hand would touch your cock for the first time. You almost cum right then and there.
“Let me see that,” Wanda says as she takes the package from your hand. She tears it open and delicately pulls the condom onto your hard cock.
You slip your fingers up before dress and lick your lips in anticipation to find out what kind of underwear she has on. But as you do, you graze her in a way that makes her squirm. “Stop, I said I don't like tickling,” she scolds.
“I wasn't trying to tickle you. I was trying to pull your panties down,” you state.
Wanda smirks and leans in close to whisper in your ear, “I haven't worn any all night.” Your hips jerk up in response and it makes her giggle. You pull her into another passionate kiss. Hoping to convey everything you feel towards her in the kiss without having to talk about it.
As she kisses you back, she hovers her pussy over your cock and passes the tip of your penis through her folds as she blindly aligns you with her entrance. The feeling of her warm pussy lips against your sensitive tip has your hips rolling instinctively. And you enter her. “Oh fuck! Geez you're so impatient,” Wanda snaps at you.
You chuckle as you start nibbling on her ear lobe. “I can take it slow but,” you push your cock further into her and grunt from the pleasure. “We don't have too long here. You want slow,” you lift her up by her ass to give you room to thrust into her. “Sneak into my room one of these nights. I'll show you a good time for a long time.”
Wanda moans as you thrust your thick dick into her. “Mmm, should I take that as an invitation? Or are you just,” her mouth opens in a gasp as you start to rub her cliterous. Your lips move about the sweaty skin of her exposed chest. Her taste has you feeling more intoxicated than any drop of alcohol ever has.
“It's an invitation,” you whisper against her neck. “You just have to keep quiet.”
“Oh sure you tell me to be quiet but when it comes to every other girl,” Wanda gripes, recalling past arguments of asking you to keep things quiet at night whenever you had a girl in your room. Especially when it was one of her close friends.
“They're not, mph, my best friend's sister,” you moan as Wanda's walls squeeze your dick. “Unless you want Pietro to hear,” Wanda covers your mouth with her hand making you laugh. She joins you in laughing and you stop moving, she sits on your lap with your dick inside of her while the two of you laugh. Wanda removes her hand from your mouth and gazes into your eyes for a moment. She knows that slow isn't the pace you go. She knows that this could be the only time she has your attention. She is grateful for this moment because she can believe that you love her. She can tell herself that this is more than what it is, even though she won't believe it tomorrow.
You get lost in her eyes and in the heat of the moment. You almost confess everything you've been dying to tell her for years. You can feel it on the tip of your tongue as you gaze into her hazel eyes. You don't say anything and hope that your actions speak for themselves. You pull out of her and sit her next to you on the couch. You don't have much time because you don't know what Pietro is up to and the chances of him walking into this room are too high. You do want to have a chance to take your time with her. You have to give her a reason to come to your room.
“What are you doing?” Wanda asks as she watches you pull the condom off and put your erection back into your pants. “Did I do something wrong?”
You shake your head. “Since when have you cared if you’ve done something wrong?” You ask as you get on your knees in front of her. Her curious eyes follow your hands as they force her dress up, causing the tight fabric tear in order to get it over her ass. You pull her closer to you by her thighs. “You didn't do anything wrong, but I need to get you finished off so we can get out of here before we're missed.” You explain as you trail kisses along her thighs.
“Oh,” she gasps out, “Wha-wha-what about yyou?” She stutters as you begin to lick her sensitive pussy.
You smirk and lean back slightly to look up at her, “You've never worried about me before. Don't start now,” you wink at her before you return your focus to devouring her. She tangles her fingers in your hair to keep you close as your tongue enters her. You eat her out like she's the last meal you'll have on earth. If she was, you wouldn't mind one bit. Her hips gyrate as she starts to ride your face. She moans as you expertly move your tongue around, humming a song to make your tongue vibrate.
“Oh god, oh god, oh god,” Wanda cries out as you please her in ways she didn't know possible. You're not the first person to go down on her. But you are the first person to make it enjoyable. So much so that when she reaches her climax, her whole body is shaking for a few minutes. Her pussy twitches as you lick up as much of her juices as you can. You pull away from her and smile at her with your face glistening from her arousal. She giggles as she pulls you up and licks her juices from your face. You groan from how much the action has turned you on. Then she kisses your lips.
“Now it's your turn,” she tries to pull you closer with her hand on your crotch without breaking from the kiss too much.
You smile as you pull away completely, “You'll have to thank me later.” You straighten yourself out and help her fix herself up a bit. She laughs at the red lipstick stains that she left behind on your face and chest.
“You might want to sneak into a bathroom,” she suggests with a smile.
“Good idea,” you nod at her. “I guess I'll see you at home then,” you say as you walk out of the room.
••••
You are sleeping when Wanda slips into your room. You don't sleep in pajamas and this is how she finds out. You're naked when she lifts the covers. She quickly drops the blanket. Startled by the sight at first. She shakes her head, embarrassed by her own reaction. You were inside of her a few hours ago and she slipped into the room with the intention of pleasuring your body. But it's different. She hadn't seen your body until now. Other than flashes from the years she's known you.
She takes a deep breath and lifts the blanket again. Her eyes widen at your size and she's surprised you fit inside of her. You weren't even hard yet. You twitch in your sleep and that causes something next to your leg to fall. She catches it before it hits the floor because she doesn't want you to wake up yet. She looks at it and realizes that it's a fake pussy.
She had no idea that you owned a flashlight. Your cum leaks out of it and she feels herself grow aroused by the idea of being pumped full of your cum. She gulps, surprised by herself. She has never wanted to be someone’s cum dump before but the idea of being yours has her growing hot and bothered.
She keeps the toy in her hand and climbs on the bed. She straddles your legs and starts by licking the length of your cock. It starts to come to life while you continue to sleep. She wonders what you could be dreaming about while she wraps her lips around the head of your penis. She licks and sucks on the sensitive area, trying to wake you up at this point. You thrust your hips up, pushing more of your cock into her mouth but you don't open your eyes or show any other sign of consciousness.
She had no idea that you were such a heavy sleeper. Wanda starts to bob her head up and down on your cock, getting you to stiffen up more. She couldn't believe how much this scandalous act was turning her on. She stops sucking on your cock and shoves it inside of the fleshlight.
Wanda uses the toy to jerk you off. “Fuck, Wanda,” you mutter in your sleep. She is flattered that you're dreaming about her. But she doesn't get too caught up in an idea that it might mean anything other than just sexual attraction.
Wanda giggles as she gets an idea. She crawls up to your ear as she continues to use the toy on you. “Mmm, Y/n,” she moans into your ear. Instead, you smile with your eyes closed. “You're so big. You're bigger than anyone I've ever had. Oh yeah, oh yeah,” she pants and squeaks as much as she can in order to get you to wake up. It isn't until she starts kissing your neck that you startle awake.
“Woah!” You shoot up in the bed and look down to see Wanda’s hand wrapped around the chunky base of your fleshlight. “Woah,” you repeat in a calmer tone as you look over at Wanda. She is blushing. You lay back down with your arms behind your head with your head turned to her. Watching her as she continues to pump your dick. “I'm surprised to see you here.”
Wanda shrugs as if it's suddenly not a big deal. “Eh, I owed you one. I figured that the faster I repay you, the better.”
You chuckle softly. “You do realize that I wouldn't have ever asked you to return the favor?”
“No,” Wanda answers shyly. She stops moving her hand. “Are you saying I should stop?”
You put your hand over hers and start moving the toy again as you maintain eye contact. “Now why would I ever say that?” You lean in and kiss her lips. The kiss is aggressive as you hold her hand still and start thrusting into the toy. Fucking it as hard as you want to be fucking her. “I'm surprised you went with the toy,” you say when you break the kiss.
“I wasn't sure where you kept your condoms and,” she looks over at your bedroom door nervously. “And I don't want to risk Pietro finding out just how loud I can get when the sex is good.”
You chuckle, taking her caution as a compliment. “My condoms are in the drawer by the bed. But you were smart not to look for them because, mmph, you were quite a screamer earlier.”
“Shut up,” she says as she starts to move the pocket pussy faster. She wants to make you cum so badly at this point. “Damn, do you always last this long?” She complains as her hand starts to get tired. She moves back to her position of straddling your lap so that she can use both hands.
“You say that as if it's a bad thing,” you snort as you watch her struggle.
“It is when I have work in the morning,” she complains again. “I should have known your dick would be as annoying as you are.”
“Is it my dick or is it because I'm picturing your grandma that one summer that she wore that one bathing suit-”
“Gross! You're thinking about that?” She makes a face and you laugh.
“It's an old trick, otherwise I'd cum before anyone I ever slept with.”
“Well, can you stop thinking about her and just focus on me?”
You smirk as you sit up. You lift Wanda slightly by her ass so that her chest is in your face. “May I?” You ask, pointing at her chest. She nods her head as she watches you.
You pull her oversized sleep shirt over your head. You kiss up her stomach until you reach her breasts. With your eyes closed your body can't tell the difference between the toy and a real pussy. Especially when you have Wanda's real breast in your mouth. With a couple of rigid thrusts you cum inside of the toy and groan against Wanda’s chest.
You give her breasts each a soft kiss before removing your head from under her shirt.
“Happy now?” You ask as you lay breathlessly against your mattress.
“No,” she groans uncomfortably. “Now I'm too turned on.” You shake your head and roll your eyes.
You climb out of your bed and pull the toy off of your softening dick. You go into your closet and pull out the promotional box that Adam & Eve sent you so that you could endorse their brand and their products. You pull out one of the many new vibrators. It's still in its packaging. “Here,” you say as you hand her the box. “Take this and get out. I'm tired and I don't want your brother to hear you.”
“He's here?”
“Yeah, I helped him get into his bed. So just take this and go.”
“Thanks I guess,” Wanda laughs to herself. “Geez I didn't realize your room was a sex shop.”
“The beauty of influencing. You get free shit and all you have to do is look pretty online,” you hop back into your bed.
“Thank you for this, um goodnight,” she kisses you on the lips one more time before crawling out of your bed and leaving your room.
You sigh happily as you go to sleep, excited for what this might open up for your future relationship with Wanda.

Every Heart Beat
Tumblr media
Summary: Pietro has to leave you.
Word Count: 461
Warnings: N/A
Read on Ao3!
The cool breeze swept through the quiet park, tugging gently at your jacket as you sat on the bench, staring at the horizon. The sunset painted the sky in warm hues of orange and pink, a contrast to the ache settling deep in your chest. Beside you, Pietro sat quietly for once, his usual restless energy replaced by a strange stillness.
He hadn’t said much since he found you here, and you hadn’t expected him to. You’d known this moment was coming. The world was calling him back to its chaos—the fight, the responsibility, the uncertainty that followed someone with his life.
But that didn’t make this any easier.
“You know,” Pietro began, his voice soft, carrying the familiar Sokovian lilt, “I never liked goodbyes.” His fingers traced the edge of the bench, his eyes focused somewhere distant. “I prefer things quick, fast, easy. But this…”
You swallowed, your throat tight. “This isn’t easy.”
He turned to look at you then, the sadness in his blue eyes stark against the usual mischief they held. “No. It’s not.”
The silence between you stretched, the weight of unsaid things heavier than the moment itself. He reached out, his hand finding yours, and the warmth of his touch spread through your cold fingers.
“I have to go,” he said, the words almost catching in his throat. “But… that doesn’t mean I’m leaving you.”
You blinked, your vision blurring slightly with the emotion building inside you. “It sure feels like you are.”
Pietro shook his head, his grip on your hand tightening. “No. Not really.” He took a deep breath, then leaned closer, resting his forehead gently against yours. His voice was a whisper, barely audible over the quiet hum of the evening. “You will always be in my heart.”
Tears stung the corners of your eyes at his words, and you squeezed his hand back, trying to hold onto this moment for as long as you could. You had known this wouldn’t last forever—Pietro was never one to stay in one place too long. But that didn’t mean you’d ever forget him.
“And you’ll always be in mine,” you whispered back, your heart aching at the thought of him leaving. “No matter how far you run.”
Pietro smiled softly, that familiar glimmer returning to his eyes, though it was tinged with sadness. He pressed a quick kiss to your forehead, standing up in one fluid motion.
“I’ll come back,” he promised, though neither of you could be sure when. “I’m fast, remember?”
And with that, he was gone—a blur of silver and blue disappearing into the wind. But even as the world settled back into stillness, you knew one thing for certain: Pietro would always be with you, no matter how far he ran.

A/N-> Yes, I’m writing about worthy!Reader again, sue me. It has a certain resemblance to an abandoned one that I posted here a while ago, but this time they are strangers to friends. This is also totally influenced by the new version of this song.

The party setting was not one that Wanda would choose as a favorite, and frankly, she had little desire to be there.
But Steve and Natasha insisted she joins, after all, there were reasons to celebrate besides the almost obligatory socializing and marketing for Earth's most famous team of heroes; their latest villain, Ultron, had been successfully exterminated. And in addition to the conflicts, there were new members on the team. Given the circumstances, and the recent destruction of her home country, neither reason would be enough to get her out of her room, but it was Natasha who convinced her to celebrate what truly mattered: Pietro was alive.
Somehow, the twin managed to make the broken leg an extra charm to his character, and the crouched figure dressed in an expensive suit courtesy of Stark Industries - an image that would make the teenage version of Pietro Maximoff have a fit of outrage - turned into the soul of the party. Unlike her brother who seemed overjoyed by the spotlight, Wanda hurried to find a corner as soon as she entered the tower hall packed with guests, her heart racing for every glance and flash of photographers interested in the newest Avengers.
The evening wore on with polite celebrations and a battle of egos conversations; it all seemed very political to Wanda, but not in the same way as it had on her rebellious afternoons in Sokovia, with all the ink and posters and protests, and more about fake smiles and passive-aggressive accusations, people in suits reminding themselves of the cost of the Avengers' existence, and an almost drunken Tony Stark bragging that money was no problem.
It was exhausting in its entirety, but Wanda managed to find a decent and entertaining distraction which was watching Pietro and Sam bicker for the attention of the guests. At the same time, Natasha kept her company at the bar.
The widow's voice calling her attention made her take her eyes from her twin supported on crutches to her newest teammate. Wanda was still a bit uneasy around Natasha - Her own guilt about the confrontation in which she invaded the other's memories, in addition to the moment of being scolded for a borrowed jacket made her feel embarrassed, even though Natasha had been very kind around her since then and had even been the person to lend her the red dress she wore tonight.
"You were tense all night, Maximoff." Commented Natasha not teasing her, but as a friendly remark that made Wanda sigh. The redhead glanced at Pietro before turning her attention back to the younger girl, her gaze softer. "It was just a scare, Wanda. He'll recover, and before you can miss him, your brother will be causing trouble again."
The joke drew a smile from her, weak but still true. Wanda tried to take Natasha's words to heart, hoping that the reaffirmation would push away all the nightmares she'd had with the memories of her brother bleeding in a destroyed Sokovia, dreams created by her fears that her brother's masked savior wouldn't have arrived in time.
Natasha cursed suddenly, and Wanda stared at her curiously, only to discover the widow staring at something behind them, at the entrance to a party that was emptying as the night wore on.
“"What the hell is this little shit doing here?" Grumbled the widow and Wanda frowned, surprised that although it was a swear word, the anger didn't carry over into Natasha's gaze. She looked more worried than anything else.
Looking back, Wanda saw a singular figure. The band T-shirt, even if hidden under a pallet, brought a faded, confident tone to the figure who greeted with polite smiles and made their way to the bar with such familiarity that Wanda immediately understood that whoever the person was, they had been to the Tower many times before.
But Natasha came out from behind the bar at a hard step and met you halfway, close enough for Wanda to see how Nat grabbed your wrist and hear the words whispered in a scolding tone.
"What are you doing here, Y/N?"
Your posture was not intimidated one bit - You freed yourself from the tug effortlessly, smiling and adjusting your jacket.
"I was invited, of course."
Natasha narrowed her eyes, assessing your response during the seconds you looked around, smiling and waving to a few people. "I'm going to kill Tony."
You sighed impatiently. "Come on, Mom, it's just a party-"
The term made Wanda's eyes widen, almost unable to resist the urge to raise her head and fully expose her spying on the conversation. Natasha didn't let you finish, walking off at a harsh pace toward the iron man on the other side of the room.
With a roll of your eyes, you ignored that and made your way to the bar.
Wanda noticed a few things quickly as you reached out beside her to grab a bottle of booze from behind the counter. The first was that you were certainly not the legal American age to be drinking and this explained the checking glances you threw around before stealing the drink, and the second was that your complicit smile toward her made her heart forget how to beat properly.
"Sorry about that, Natasha is quite the doting type of mom." That was the first thing you said to her, as you moved close enough for Wanda to swallow dryly at the intrusion of your perfume into her senses, intoxicatingly attractive. You smiled again, propping your elbow on the counter beside you to extend your hand to her. "I am Y/N, by the way. And you're Wanda Maximoff, right?"
Jesus, keep it together. She thought, feeling her face heat up at the attention.
If Pietro saw the disaster, he would be laughing at her face, and knowing that her brother was just a few feet away ready to mock her, made Wanda suddenly gain a little confidence.
She confirmed who she was and as she shook your hand, she added, "I didn't know Natasha had any children."
You chuckled relaxedly. "It's complicated." You replied, releasing her hand to grab the beer bottle you left resting on the bar. "She's not my birth mother, I'm more like a souvenir"
Wanda frowned at your rather vague answer, ready to inquire when before you could take a sip of your drink, someone took it from you from behind your shoulder - It was Clint Barton, also wearing a suit and with a smug expression of repression.
"I'll take this." He chuckled, ignoring your sigh of protest and approaching to greet Wanda quickly before turning his attention back to you. "And may I ask what you're doing here, kiddo?"
You snorted impatiently, putting your hands in your pockets. "What do people do at parties, Barton?" You returned naughtily, but Clint grinned, shaking his head.
"You know Natasha is going to give you a hard time for this... in addiction to drinking-"
"What drinking? You didn't even let me taste it." You interrupt grumpily and roll your eyes when to further irritate you, Clint takes a long gulp. With a sigh, you lift your chin toward Wanda. "I'm just getting to know the new Avengers, it's not a crime to make friends." You commented, offering Wanda a wink that made her swallow dryly.
Great, of all the people she could meet in a new country, she was going to have a crush on the Black Widow's daughter. Her luck always improving.
"Kiddo, you know the rules-" Clint tried to reason, but you huffed impatiently again.
"God, you guys are such hypocrites!" Despite the clear irritation, your tone remained controlled. "The Maximoffs are what, months older than me? Yeah, Barton, I read Fury's files. Honestly, this is ridiculous! Stark is also trying to recruit that fourteen-year-old vigilante, but suddenly if I want to join the team it's the most dangerous thing in the world! I only came for the party, but I'd be happy to get a thank you for the last mess you put yourselves in! I don't know, like a "thanks Y/N for saving my life" instead of a "you're too young to be here", Uncle." Your venting made the man lower his head, sighing in agreement.
The archer tried to call you over to ease things, but you had already left the scene, annoyance stamped on your expression. With another sigh, this time in defeat, Clint returned the bottle to the bar and touched Wanda gently on the elbow.
"It wasn't the best way to meet her, but I hope you don't get a bad impression." He tried to joke, but Wanda only needed five seconds to reflect on your words to understand exactly who you were.
"Clint, she's helped us in Sokovia, didn’t she?" Inquired the girl with a certain desperation. "She’s the one that saved Pietro?"
Barton smiled proudly. " Yeah, that's her." He confirmed to which Wanda sighed softly. So many days wondering how she could find and thank the mysterious person who ensured her brother's safety and the closest thing to a father figure she had at the moment, only to have you stand in front of her and get tongue-tied.
You disappeared in the midst of so many guests, and Wanda gave up searching with her gaze when Clint called her back to get her attention.
"You'll have time to say thanks." He commented realizing the whole thing and smiling softly. "If Y/N gets what she's been pushing at for years, you two should be roommates. And well, whenever she's not at school, she's around."
Wanda absorbed the words attentively, feeling her curiosity rise. "Oh, really? And how old is she again?"
"She wasn't exaggerating, Maximoff, she really is only a few months younger than you and your brother." Clint replied casually. Although he was looking around, old habits of an agent, he seemed willing to talk to Wanda. "The only reason she's not the youngest Avenger is because Natasha doesn't want her to be on the team."
The information makes Wanda frown. "Why is that?"
Clint smiles, shrugging. "Safety, of course." He gently rebuts. "Aliens and bio-nuclear warfare isn't exactly the right place for a teenager."
"Still here I am.'" Wanda retorted without sounding really annoyed. Clint hesitated before sighing.
"It's different, Wanda."
"Of course, Clint." She retorted with a fresh bitterness on the edge of her stomach. "She matters."
Barton grimaced, moving a little closer and staring her in the eye. "Don't jump to conclusions without knowing the full story." He began. "These are different situations. You and Pietro are enhanced young people without a country to go back to. And of course your safety matters to me. But we've had this conversation before, Maximoff. When you faced that army, you chose to be an Avenger, even though you can resign from this position whenever you want, you are a very strong girl who I would trust on a battlefield. But Y/N is 17 years old and the most action she's seen in her life was at the drive-in of The Future Terminator ." Clint commented but Wanda looked away, catching your figure again, this time greeting Pietro who recognized you far more easily than she did. The hug he gave you made her look at Clint seriously.
"I think you give her little credence." She retorted, impressed with her confidence in defending someone she didn't even know. "She made a difference in the last fight."
Clint laughed dryly. "She's already won you over, hasn't she? She's a born talent." He teased, smiling at the pink tint to her cheeks. "And speaking of talent, I have to admit, that kid has plenty of it. Natasha trained her of course, but never let her go into real action. And well, she's always been very observant. Tony has a sweet spot for her, taught her everything he knows, and if you ask me, he spoils her a little. But I can't blame him, she gives us those puppy dog eyes and it seems like no time has passed. We're all old and she gets what she wants from those soft adults."
The warmth and nostalgia of the veteran's words made Wanda smile as well. She let a moment pass before commenting:
"Earlier, Y/N said something about being... souvenir." And the phrase drew a hearty laugh from Clint.
He shook his head in disbelief before retorting, "It's a long story..."
"It's not like I have anywhere else to go." Wanda jokes it's kind of dry humor, but it makes Clint chuckle weakly. He settles into the chair next to her and assumes a thoughtful expression.
"Well, I guess it all started in Budapest..."
It's not like she needed any more reasons to like you, but nonetheless, Clint gave all of them and more. The story was brief but much appreciated; Natasha found you by chance, the joke about being Souvenir now made sense and Wanda wanted to laugh at your dry sense of humor so similar to hers. A professional Russian spy is given a second chance and while she is trying to gain the trust of the people around her, she encounters an angry child during an infiltration and elimination operation. Unlike everyone on the team of military and guilty billionaires, you were just a civilian with no options. Born into a family made up of people who made all the wrong choices and compromised your safety. Enter the Shield, with two agents who were determined to bring the only survivor home.
Wanda immediately understood Natasha's responsibilities and desperate desire for your safety.
Clint's narrative grew vaguer, and he got quieter as he drank more. Wanda didn't need telepathy to know that the archer was thinking about his own kids, and with a tired smile, he took a last sip of his beer and offered her a pat on the shoulder.
"Time for me to go home, Wanda." He commented, looking around at the practically empty party room now. They had been so wrapped up in stories about the past that he had barely seen the party ending. "Whatever you need, give me a call, okay?"
Clint's goodbyes were always like this, and Wanda just returned the smile.
Alone at the bar, she decided to make her way to her twin brother who was now sitting on one of the couches. The whole way there, she tried to keep her racing heart in check on account of the person in the opposite seat.
"[...] And all that for her to kick me out of bed the next day!" The end of Sam's story drew laughter from the group, and Wanda tried to go unnoticed and find a corner, but once you were close enough, you adjusted yourself on the couch.
"Hey, there's space here." You offered gently, tapping the free spot next to you and with all the attention on her, Wanda could only accept the invitation quickly, squeezing in next to you on the couch.
Sam, who didn't mind the momentary attention stolen, continued to tell stories of failed date nights, tales funny and embarrassing enough to keep the group entertained. Wanda was too busy trying not to look like a complete mess and hiding her own expression from her curious brother to pay attention to them.
Before she could realize it, she had stood beside you in complete silence for half an hour, just listening and forcing smiles whenever Pietro tried to include her in the conversation at the mention of some memory they shared. The party officially ended as the night wore on until only those who were part of the team were left in the room. And well, you.
"Hey kiddo, come on, I'll drive you home." It was Natasha already with a jacket over her dress and keys in hand. The information that there was a home beyond the tower stuck in Wanda's mind, and she had to force herself to stop imagining what the black widow's ordinary life as a single mother would be like.
Instead of getting up, you sank further into the sofa, stretching both arms out on the support of the furniture. Wanda was sure her face was the color of Natasha's hair, but she didn't dare look above her own lap, being sure that Pietro would notice if she did.
"Thanks, Mom, but I'm going to stay a little longer."
Natasha sighed wearily. "Kid, please." She insisted but you didn't lose your slouched posture.
Instead, you let your arm fall over Wanda and Sam, each on your side. "I just made new friends, come on!" You justified, squeezing them both for a moment. Wanda bit the inside of her cheek hard, "And tomorrow is the weekend!"
The widow didn't look persuaded at all, but a certain iron man mimicked the gesture you made with the other two, hugging Natasha sideways as his free hand brought out a little cocktail.
"Don't be so grumpy, Romanoff." Tony teased. "It's not like Y/N is twelve. In fact, I already bought her an eighteen birthday present."
The information made you get excited, and get up to try to get more information out of your uncle about that surprise gift.
Wanda let out a breath she didn't even realize she was holding when she no longer had your arm around her, and as she raised her eyes and met her twin's curious gaze, she knew the color of her cheeks had worsened.
When Thor was drunk enough to keep talking about Asgard, and Natasha's keys were hanging over the hammer on the table, you yawned in the middle of a joke.
Steve chuckled, shaking out his hair and exchanging a quick glance with the widow talking to Agent Hill across the room.
"It's late, let's call it a night, Avengers." Announced the captain, receiving a chorus in protest but far too tired to counter more willingly.
Wanda herself was missing her heels, practically asleep against the shoulder of her twin brother, who was in one last round of improvised poker with the Falcon.
"Party killer." Tony teased with his eyes closed - He had been woken from his nap by the voice of the captain, who laughed at the comment before offering his hand to encourage you to get up from the couch.
The next few minutes were a blur in Wanda's mind until everything came back into focus at once. She was holding the crutches with her magic and helping her brother to stand when she heard you mutter something about sleeping in the tower. Suddenly, your sleepy figure tripped over the table leg, and instead of a tragic accident with the hammer static in the center, everything crashed to the floor.
The Mjolnir rolled a few inches away from your body, and you laughed embarrassedly, half of Tony Stark's punch in your jacket.
"Damn, let's hope she didn't scratch your toy." Joked Sam, but Thor was half pale looking at you in shock.
It was Rogers who lifted you like a knight to the rescue, but when he tried to duck to retrieve the hammer, the item didn't care to flinch.
Suddenly the whole group understood what had happened while you were distracted by the punch damage to your new suit.
"Sorry, Uncle Tony, I think it's going to stain..." You muttered upset, raising your eyes to the room of adults staring at you and breaking into a confused laugh. "What?"
Thor swallowed dryly. "Hm, kid, can you... pick up the hammer for me?"
You shrugged, ducking down at the same moment. "Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to knock it over." And you lifted it without any difficulty, extending it to Thor who looked about to pass out and didn't make a move. You made a confused face. Opening your mouth to question, you had no chance to do so as Thor was already looking at Natasha.
"We have to talk." He pointed at you next. "The three of us."
Nat sighed and grabbed the hammer from your hand, tossing it into Thor's lap who caught it just in time to avoid hitting him in his most sensitive parts, grimacing at the redhead.
"See? It's no big deal. I can lift it too, so don't even try to give me that look."
"Natasha-"
"No. She's a kid, Thor! Don't even start, we're leaving!"
"Romanoff!" Insisted the god, but he had to get up to follow the figure of Nat, who had grabbed your hand and was practicing running away down the tower.
The rest of the team stood in an embarrassing silence, being able to hear the heated discussion in the hallway of the other three for the next few minutes until Steve cleared his throat.
"I think it's best if we each go to bed..."
"Shush, popsicle." Cut Tony impatiently. "We just found new rulers of Asgard."
"Yeah, let us hear it." Insisted Sam and Steve got no support from anyone else, everyone too curious to give privacy to the discussion that seemed close to ending.
A moment later, Thor returned with a smile on his face, and next to him, a widow with her arms crossed. "We have a proposition to make." Announced the blond man, giving the smaller one a gentle nudge.
Natasha sighed stubbornly. "It's against all my wishes-"
Thor snorted good-naturedly, nudging Natasha's face like an older brother and ignoring the other's protest to excitedly tell the room: "Everyone has seen that little Romanoff can lift the hammer, and well, this is the greatest proof of honor, strength, and dignity a warrior can have and I think it's more than enough to give that girl a chance to be part of the team like she's always wanted since she was a rude little brat-
"Thank you, Uncle." You cut in with a laugh as you came into the scene again. Wanda saw that you were now out of your wet suit, the t-shirt gave way to what looked like one of the social shirts of the party waiters and was clearly an improvised outfit by the way half the buttons were still being buttoned.
Thor suddenly wrapped you in a corner hug, looking very proud and the gesture made you chuckle. "They grow up so fast, don't they?" He commented tearfully, to which you shook your head.
"I would still finish school, and there's college too, but Thor thinks he could train me like the Asgardians. That is of course, if you guys would accept me into the team. What do you say?"
The group grinned affectionately, and as Steve Rogers sniffled softly, Tony opened his arms excitedly.
"Of course, you can be an Avenger! Come here!"
As the adults moved to hug you tight, the new members stood watching politely, smiling at the scene. Pietro, now standing next to his sister, leaned in to whisper:
"I saw the way you look at her.” He said, and Wanda bit the inside of her cheek, trying to hide any reaction. "You totally have a crush."
"Shut up." She snapped sullenly, ignoring her brother's chuckle.
Your inclusion in the team gave energy for one last round of drinks - non-alcoholic for the underage trio - in celebration. And around three in the morning now, Wanda could barely keep her eyes open.
She walked Pietro back to his room, worried that he would stumble on the way and ignoring her brother's jokes that he would speed up before he could hit the floor, and only after he was comfortable under the sheets did she leave the room towards her own.
She eventually found out that Clint didn't lie. In fact, you were her roommate, and well, she felt a little embarrassed to interrupt a moment of reconciliation between you and your mother, who was kissing your forehead before letting you go to rest. The widow also offered a smile to Wanda who nodded absently, and thus, the two of you were left alone in the hallway.
"Hey, Maximoff."
The brunette smiled, scratching her eyes softly. "Hey, new Avenger." She managed to joke, eliciting a shy giggle from you. It was clear that you were pleased and excited, and Wanda wished she could say that she wasn't affected one bit by the gleam in your eyes, but that would be a lie.
"I'm still sort of digesting that one. It seems surreal." You comment, scratching behind the back of your neck. Steve's act of ruffling your hair left earlier that evening gave you an air of domesticity that made Wanda's breathing catch. Damn it, Pietro was right. She was a goner. "I know the situation is quite different, but I guess you must be nervous too, right? Your brother at least, acknowledged that he is."
Wanda blinks in surprise, stealing a glance at Pietro's door. He hadn't confessed this to her, but it made sense that despite everything, he was nervous about becoming a real superhero.
"Yeah, I guess." She retorts, crossing her arms. "I think it feels more real when we're fighting together."
You chuckled softly, hiding your hands in your pockets. "Don't let my mother hear you. She's still processing that part." You joked, getting a soft laugh from the other, the sound bringing a soft color to your cheeks that Wanda doesn't notice, too busy hiding her own. "Hey, total change of subject but do you go to school?"
She blinks in confusion, "What...?"
"It's just that it would be cool to go with you!" You quickly clarify. "Since we're similar ages, I figured we could be classmates..."
Wanda shifts the weight of her foot awkwardly, clearing her throat. "Hm, I fell behind." She interrupts, frowning slightly. "You know, the schools stop with the conflicts and the bombings. And then Hydra came and the tests and it didn't make sense for either me or Pietro to keep studying anymore..."
"Oh, yeah, that makes sense. Sorry." You mutter clearly embarrassed that you brought up the subject. Wanda uncrosses her arms, not knowing what to do with her hands. "God, I'm so stupid."
"It's okay, you were just curious." She tries to reassure you, receiving a nod and a forced smile.
It was your turn to switch the weight of your feet and to take your hands out of your pockets to cross your arms. "Sorry, sometimes I speak without thinking. And I think too much, so often the lines slip out before I finish thinking about them... Anyway, I read your file, and I know the basics of history so of course it was inappropriate to ask such a stupid question and-"
"Y/N." Wanda interrupted you with a somewhat impressed laugh. She had just realized that you were as clumsy with social interactions as she was. What a great pair you would make. "It's no problem, really. It's... sweet that you care about my education. I think Stark is taking care of it, with the whole paperwork thing, you know? We'll probably have a tutor, me and Pietro, I say."
"Sure, that makes sense." You comment with a sigh. "And tutors give homework, right? I'll be around, we'll be able to help each other and everything."
Wanda chuckles tenderly, nodding. She's exhausted, but she doesn't want this night to ever end. "That's a great idea, detka." She lets the nickname slip, begging the gods that you let it go. But of course, you choke and turn pink, consequently bringing warmth to the other's face.
There is a timid pause between you before you mutter.
"My mother taught me a bunch of foreign languages growing up." You recount quietly, staring at your feet as Wanda stares at a dot in the hallway. "But I wanted to learn Sokovian to meet the new Avengers. It's cool if you want to call me that...I like it."
With her face very flushed and her heart racing in her throat, Wanda could only nod and hum in agreement, her shyness drawing a small laugh from you.
"Risking a second inappropriate question tonight but you wouldn't have a phone, would you?" you quibble, to which Wanda quickly denies. You nod. "I figured not yet. I'll get one for you, and for Pietro too. That way we can keep in touch, you know? I can send you memes, or homework cheats. Or movie recommendations. We can even create a superhero Instagram page for you."
Wanda giggled shortly, nodding clumsily at the tenderness of your gaze and the concern for her entertainment. "You are so silly..."
You narrowed your eyes in amusement, pointing at her. "Let's see if you'll say that when I turn you into a social influencer." You joked getting another hearty laugh from her.
During the next pause, filled with complicit giggles, Wanda knows you are staring and you are doing the same and before it gets awkward, you clear your throat and break the charm, returning some of the space you broke by instinct during the conversation.
"It's late, we should get to bed before the captain comes to do it." You remark and Wanda nods in agreement, even though she wishes she stayed.
"We'll see each other tomorrow. Right?"
You agree so quickly that your neck snaps. "Of course, t-tomorrow. Yeah, 'can't wait." Wanda smiles tenderly, nodding before walking away to her own door.
She enters first, biting back a silly smile that struggles to fill her own face.
Alone in the hallway, you have the same problem.

You explained your situation with Vinny as thoroughly as you could in your sleep-deprived state while he slept in your arms. Your STEM background habitually prompted you to provide your hypothesis on the matter, which Bruce and Tony perked up and shared a look at. Both appeared to immediately take a mental note of researching the incident with your husband later. The team vaguely remembered the event when it first happened and dominated the headlines. It was dubbed as a freak accident that happened too quickly to be stopped; they were gutted that even they couldn’t do something about it. Naturally, they had questions but were hesitant to inquire when you were noticeably slipping in and out of consciousness.
Natasha furrows her brows in sympathy as she observes you and gradually moves her gaze down to Vinny. Despite your exhausted state, you force yourself to maintain your posture and continue safely cradling your son, prioritising his comfort over your own. She can only imagine the amount of stress you had undergone the last few days of having to take care of a son with rapidly expanding powers. ‘Just a normal person’ was what you called yourself, someone who was ‘incapable of properly caring’ for your son and his powers no matter how much you were willing to stick it out. In the end, you had to call it quits. She admired your resilience and maternal drive, all of them did and they were more than willing to help you. It was definitely a bizarre case but, rather than figure things out now, it was more important to ensure your and Vinny’s wellbeing.
“How about we call it a night for now?” Steve suggests as you hand over the list you had written up, detailing the extent of Vinny’s acquired powers. It was an extensive list composed of several scraps of paper and sticky notes. The team's eyes collectively bulge at the sizable amount of notations.
“Does he have super speed like me?” Pietro blurts out in excitement, eager to potentially have someone who can finally keep up with his speed.
“I don’t know… maybe it’ll manifest one day. The list only seems to keep growing,” you try to smile but you’re so tired it comes out as more of a grimance.
“Stay the night,” Tony says with fixed conviction, “it’s gotten late and you came to us for help with the baby, right?” Pepper smiles beside him and nods in agreement. The couple stand side by side, already settled on the decision and it appears as though nobody else was going to contest it.
“We have plenty of rooms available. I’ll be happy to take you and Vinny to one,” Pepper offers as Tony nods with his usual charming grin. Neither gives you the chance to object nor does the rest of the team—all are determined to lend you a helping hand. Looking at their kind expressions made you tear up. It was such a relief. You haven’t felt this supported since your late husband was alive.
“Y-yes please,”
“It’s settled then, over to you Ms Potts,” Tony gives the curve of Pepper’s butt a small pat as he moves away, “I’ll get the staff to bring up a cot as soon as possible,” The team follow the couple’s lead and wish you a goodnight as Pepper begins leading you to the available bedrooms with Vinny still asleep in your arms.

The team remain in the living room discussing the current events. Pepper had informed them of which room you were sleeping in for the night when she came back, it was one of the bigger rooms considering they were organising a cot to be put in for Vinny, it also had an ensuite and small kitchenette for your convenience.
The cot was taking a while to acquire and build due to the suddenness of the request but you assured her that having no cot wasn’t an ‘end of the world’ thing, you were more than happy to sleep with Vinny in the same bed. In fact, you had recently gotten into the habit so that you were easily alerted whenever Vinny spontaneously did something with his powers. However, Pepper doubts you would wake so easily in your sleep-deprived state; you fell asleep the instant your head hit the pillow. Thankfully, Vinny remains fast asleep beside you.
“You think it was the gamma rays, Bruce?” Tony asks nonchalantly as he settles himself atop the sofa arm, snacking on chocolate-covered almonds.
“It’s highly likely,” Bruce has been absorbed in research ever since you had left the room, typing away on his laptop. “Reports of the incident don’t flag up anything suspicious happening,” Tony raises a brow and there’s a knowing silence that fills the room momentarily, “...but we may just need to do some more digging,” Bruce was willing to continue his research but Tony insisted on the work day being over and the need for a good work-life balance. All Pepper’s influence.
“We can continue the research tomorrow, Banner. Meeting a teleporting, multi-superpowered baby warrants some rest for the night, at least,” With a shake of his head, Bruce relents to Tony’s insistence and finally closes his laptop. Pepper looks at her fianceé proudly, Tony has come so far and has truly grown into the hero many admire him to be. His under-eyes are looking much healthier too. After his initial hesitation, Bruce and Tony join everyone else in the central living room again.
“Will the baby and his mother be staying here for a long time?” Thor asks thoughtfully, leaning back into the sofa as Loki contemplates the question beside him. It makes sense for the mother and son duo to stay considering how unpredictable the child’s powers are.
“It would be for the best,” Steve announces, receiving a nod of agreement from the majority. “The baby needs to be analysed so we can better help the mother and separating the two is entirely out of the question.”
“We’re not subjecting the child to any experiments though, right?” Bucky asks, a hardness coming over his expression and darkening his features. Everyone holds their breath and looks to Tony for answers. It was a collective look that pleaded opposition to the idea. In their line of work, experimentation on children was, unfortunately, a common occurrence and was something they actively pursued in putting an end to.
“Surely not,” Natasha says lowly through gritted teeth. Everyone understood how important the topic was to her.
“‘Course, not.” Tony states matter-of-factly and shrugs, “There are ways of collecting data without having to partake in those old-school, traumatising experiments,”
The Maximoff twins look at one another before Pietro suggests the obvious, “So… babysitting?” Tony shoots him with a pair of finger guns and cheerfully announces his victory.
“I’m afraid no prize for you though—”
A giggle cuts through the room and everyone turns to the source immediately. Not again.
Sat on the coffee table was Vinny, no longer asleep and having teleported into the living room once more. For a moment, nobody knows what to say or do until Vinny reaches his arms up, claps and giggles happily while staring up at Bucky, his little arms still raised. The supersoldier’s expression softens considerably at the child, his heart warmed by the infant’s glittering eyes and gummy smile. Giving a small wave and wiggling his fingers, Bucky is rewarded by another giggle before Vinny makes grabbing motions at him with his small, pudgy, baby hands. The gesture, however, makes him pause entirely.
“That means he wants you to pick him up, Cyborg,” Sam laughs at his friend’s frozen state, it was hilarious to see someone who was usually so stoic and threatening become a headless chicken in front of a baby.
Slow and steady, Bucky reaches out and takes Vinny in his arms. The infant squeals in delight and kicks his legs when the soldier lifts him into the air before settling him on his lap to face the rest of the team. Vinny leans back against Bucky with a smug-looking grin as the brooding assassin sits rigidly behind him and whose large hands keep him in place by grasping his small torso on either side. It almost scares him how his fingertips touch when holding Vinny – the child is so tiny, so pudgy, soft, and fragile. Bucky’s face goes stock-still as does his limbs — he becomes indistinguishable from a stone statue.
Pietro, Clint and Tony burst out laughing at the sight, pointing fingers at Bucky and making little Vinny grin in delight, their tangible joy is infectious to him. Even Sam is snickering from Bucky’s peripheral, no longer worried about getting hit upside the head since the supersoldier was otherwise preoccupied. Finding their laughter contagious too, Vinny joins in, oblivious to the glaring super soldier whose lap he was happily seated on.
“He looks like a little prince in an oil painting sitting on a throne!” Pietro comments in between gasps of laughter. Tony snaps a picture and everyone slowly sees the vision Pietro had been calling out. It was comical. Clint was desperately gasping for breath as Loki snickered under his breath and Thor agreed to the ‘little prince’ observation.
“That child makes for an excellent prince!”
“But a throne? More like a stone statue,” Sam snorts as Steve struggles to keep a straight face.
“Not. Funny.” Bucky growls lowly, paying no mind to the way the child in his lap plays with his fingers, unsuccessfully trying to pry his grip off his torso whilst babbling incoherent words.
“You having fun, little guy?” Steve asks, leaning down to meet eyes with Vinny who responds happily, although in his nonsensical baby language. “I see, I’m glad,” Vinny prattles on again and holds a conversation with the soft-eyed, gently smiling captain for a good two minutes as the rest of the team looks fondly at the scene.
Moments like this were what life was about.
Evenings with the entire team were an eagerly anticipated activity, however, to have such a precious child join in on the event was a welcome occurrence. It felt like a family coming together to indulge in each other’s warm company. It was calm and mundane but it was what everyone craves atop the tumultuous life they lead.
“What did the child say?” Thor’s booming voice cuts through the conversation and Steve turns to find him with a wide smile, eagerly anticipating an answer.
With a roll of his eyes and a tsk, Loki answers before Steve can utter a word of explanation, “The captain doesn’t actually understand the child, he’s just entertaining it,”
“It’s ‘he’, not ‘it’, Loki,” Wanda corrects but is ignored by the god.
“But they were conversing rather fluently just then,” Thor insists. Sometimes the group wonders if the Thunder God liked to play dumb just to annoy his younger sibling.
“It doesn’t matter, the captain was speaking properly whilst the child wasn’t speaking any coherent language,” The two continue to bicker the way siblings do, as usual, while everyone else turns back to Vinny. The child, however, keeps his gaze locked on the two gods, his round, doe eyes transfixed on them with a blank expression before he suddenly smiles and squeals.
“Ahh-yah!” the room suddenly shakes, as if a minor earthquake had occurred and the gods finally stop bickering. Everyone’s attention was on Vinny again. Wide-eyed, Bruce scours through the list of powers you handed over earlier and tries to find some sort of explanation.
“What the hell was that?” Tony breathes in disbelief and turns to his lab partner, “Banner?”
“I think it’s the ‘loud sound (crying, cheering, laughing) = earthquake’,”
“Echokinesis…” the two scientists conclude at the same time.
Tony slowly swipes his hands down his face, “This kid is gonna be a handful,” everyone stares, wide-eyed at the giggling child still sitting on Bucky’s lap. Vinny gurgles happily at the attention before assuming the stares are to commence one of his favourite games. Bringing his small, chubby hands up to his face, Vinny covers his eyes, cooing softly before revealing his eyes with a ‘dah!’. His proud grin is more gums than teeth but he’s just happy to play one of his favourite games ever.
The adorable display makes the team smile, easily forgetting the earlier incident of uncontrolled power displayed by the innocent babe. Vinny continues playing peek-a-boo with everyone, who gradually joins in, Wanda being the most enthusiastic as she softly sings ‘peek-a-boo’ to the baby opposite her. Vinny had joined the light singing as well but with muddled coos instead. All is well and nerves have just begun to settle as Vinny covers his eyes for about the umpteenth time, elongating the innocent game. However, the team doesn’t mind as long as the baby is entertained and not crying.
“Peek…a…boo!” Wanda sings once more but, this time, when Vinny reveals his eyes from under his small baby hands, two tunnels of bright green light shoot forward and everyone on the other side of the room ducks for cover. The parallel laser beams reached as far as the opposite wall and almost tore straight through it. As Vinny’s merry giggles fill the air, everyone slowly regains their composure and stares in disbelief at the destroyed couch.
“The kid has fucking laser eyes too?!” Clint exclaims in disbelief, slack-jawed at the destructive evidence of Vinny’s power.
“Language,” Steve promptly reprimands despite his own astonishment at the child’s display while Bucky had promptly covered Vinny’s tiny ears with his hands. Loki laughs joyfully, looking at your babbling baby boy with glittering amusement.
“What an incredibly gifted child,” Loki praises with a smirk, his hair tousled by the scuffle but he pays it no mind.
It was then that Vinny reached his little arms up to Natasha, babbling happily before changing his mind and turning to Tony, only to change his mind again and make grabby hands at Thor. Everyone watches as the infant conflicts with himself, not knowing who he wants to be held by more before he falls forward and tumbles out of Bucky’s arms, or rather a duplicate of him does. In fact, a swarm of baby Vinnys fall off Bucky’s lap and begin shakily waddling over to a different avenger each.
“Oh my…” Natasha gasps, cuddling a happily cooing Vinny to her chest — a duplicate one, at least. Looking around, every Avenger was made to cradle a duplicate baby as they tried to contain their shock and amazement. “This is crazy…”
“Wh-what do we do?” Pietro asks no one in particular as Wanda tries not to fawn over the baby Vinny in her arms.
“Just make sure he doesn’t start crying or they’ll all start crying and the tower will end up collapsing on everyone because of their echo-kiss-thing,” Sam advises, panic swimming in his eyes as he remembers the shrieks of his baby nephews and how they had the power to make all nearby adults cry with them too.
“N-now we don’t necessarily know if the baby can use more than one power at once or if his duplicates can perform powers atop the duplication. But I think it’s safe to say that that’s not the case–” Bruce cuts himself off as the baby in his arms coos, mesmerised by his moving jaw and reaches up a tiny hand to touch the scientist’s face. The duplicate Vinny in his arms begins babbling as if Bruce had been talking to him the entire time and they were pleasantly conversing. Charmed by the display, Bruce smiled softly and cooed at the infant in his arms — there was just something about babies that brought joy and peace to a person, he wanted to savour that feeling as much as possible.
“Are you sure about that?” Clint asks and raises his Vinny, who had started dribbling and blowing bubbles with his spit. The bubbles should have easily disappeared but they began to float around and soon enough all the duplicate Vinny babies were blowing bubbles with their saliva.
“I don’t know if that’s disgusting or adorable…” Tony comments, staring in mild awe and disgust at the display whilst bouncing the giggling baby in his arms. Pepper walks up beside him with an equally disturbed but awestruck expression.
“How can they float like that?”
“You want to pop it, little human?” Thor chuckles as the Vinny in his arms reaches for the floating bubbles. Wanting to keep the child entertained, Thor obliges and pops a bubble for him only to yelp at the sudden electric shock he was subjected to. To a god of thunder, that felt like an insect bite, however, that would not be the case for his teammates. “Be careful my friends! This child was able to encase electricity within these innocent bubbles!”
“Oh god! What are you?!” Sam asks in disbelief at the baby in his lap. Vinny simply giggles behind his small hands – he looks like the perfect picture of innocence but the team of heroes know better.
Tony hands Pietro a wooden coaster from the coffee table to quickly pop all the bubbles with so that they don’t injure someone. The speedster nods but hands him his duplicate Vinny before zipping off to do the task. It didn’t take longer than five seconds to complete for Pietro and everyone could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“This is gonna be…interesting…” Tony observes with some hesitance as Bruce snorts a laugh and gives him a raised-brow look.
“I could’ve told you that, Tony,” Sam chuckles.
“But we can still help Vinny and his mother, correct?” Steve asks, feeling his heart clench as the baby in his arms cuddles into him with a suppressed yawn. The supersoldier watched, mesmerised, as the child slowly blinks and gradually fell asleep while sucking on his little thumb.
“Of course!” Wanda declares and looks at Tony, “Even if it’s going to be difficult, we can’t just turn them away,”
“I never said we were going to turn them away,” Tony smiles and relaxes his shoulders when the duplicates disappear in a small puff of smoke, revealing that Steve had the real Vinny. “They’re free to stay as long as they need,” the team smiled in relief at the assurance. They weren’t going to admit it aloud but they had already grown an attachment to the son and mother pair. It would be a good change of pace to have the two around the tower.
“Splendid! I like the child very much already! And the mother is lovely, herself,” Thor speaks for everyone in the room, lowering his voice for the sake of Vinny who Steve had cradled to his chest and was gently rocking, “She seems very kind and loving, much like our mother, right, Loki?” the blonde god happily slings his arm over his younger brother’s shoulders and brings him close.
“I suppose so,” Loki agrees with a scowl and stubbornly shrugs off his brother’s arm, who laughs goodnaturedly at the gesture.
“What about Nick?” Natasha asks, making everyone tense up but it was a subject that couldn’t be avoided.
“I don’t think Nick is heartless enough to separate a mother and child or subject the little one to anything traumatic,” Steve was confident in that, “but if he shows otherwise, we’re putting a stop to it immediately,” Everyone nods and Pepper volunteers to call the S.H.I.E.L.D director about the situation.
“It’s late,” Tony excuses and chuffs at the look Pepper sends him, “and, even though he’ll be ready at any time of the day. It’s best to start this tomorrow. The baby’s asleep anyway,”
Everyone notes the peace that had befallen the room. Everything was quiet except for the slumbering child’s soft breaths and their hushed voices discussing the topic. Looking at the clock, time had already passed so quickly.
“This little one was such a handful,” Wanda comments, “no wonder his poor mother looked so…” she chooses her words carefully, “troubled,”
“I would have given up and collapsed already,” Clint confessed with a good-humoured snicker, “she must be a super mom to have taken care of a super baby all by herself for longer than a day,” hums and nods of agreement were shared throughout the room. The feat you accomplished was beyond their comprehension. Even though they were experienced in handling unusual, potentially dangerous events like this, they had struggled quite a bit from only one evening with Vinny. But you were one person without any special abilities or experience, and yet, you had lasted longer than they did.
“A mother’s love is otherworldly,”  Thor concludes and, again, everyone hums and nods in agreement.

The White Healer Chapter 3
Summary: Reader is introduced to the avengers and is in for a delightful surprise.
Warnings: Slight Smut. Anxiety.
Series Masterlist
X--X--X--X
You weren’t entirely certain who was fussing over you more, Natasha or Wanda. Both seemed to have a difference in opinion when it came to what you should wear. Natasha suggested some fitting jeans and a crop top while Wanda was suggesting some denim shorts and an off-shoulder cardigan. To be honest, neither appealed to you much seeing as you’d be leaving shortly.. The thought saddened you for some reason. You had only spent maybe half an hour with everyone (half of which was with the two in front of you. Not that you were complaining), yet you knew you wanted to spend more time with them. Sighing you stood up from the bed. Both stopped arguing and looked at you inquisitively.
“So, which one do you like more?” Wanda asked eagerly.
“Yeah, whose style is better?” Natasha challenged.
Rolling your eyes you walked past both of them and picked out a simple T-shirt and sweatpants and walked into the bathroom to change. Opting to look in the opposite direction of the mirror, you changed and folded the scrubs neatly. Deciding to put them in the laundry basket. You stepped out and faltered when you saw both of them glaring at you.
Why is that so fucking hot- No. NO. y/n control yourself. You are not going down that road. You-
“I have to say, you could’ve done better” Natasha said.
“It’s the comfiest option. Besides, I’ll be mail these back to you the moment I get home” you said placatingly.
The two glanced at each other, then looked back at you.
“Y/N I-“
A loud knock interrupted whatever Wanda was going to say.
“Are you girls done playing dress up? The food is here already” You heard Pietro yell from outside the room.
Huffing and calling her brother some colourful names in Sokovian, Wanda started towards the door, you and Natasha just behind her.
The conversation seemed to stop abruptly the moment you entered the room. All eyes on you once again. You were considering apologising for existing and leave when you felt a soft hand on your lower back. You instinctively knew it was Wanda’s and you resisted the urge to lean into her hand. Seriously, what was wrong with you? You’ve never acted that way with anyone.
Taking a deep breath, you steeled your nerves and sat at one end of the table. It seemed a little odd as everyone was more on the opposite side but you didn’t know whom to sit next to. The next thing you new Wanda and Natasha had sit down on either side of you. Something you were extremely grateful for.
“Right. So.. um.. Let’s eat?” Steve suggested.
Immediately everyone opened up the tower of pizza boxes and grabbed a slice. You prayed they had a vegetarian option because all you could see was pepperoni other meaty options. Without hesitation, Wanda passed you a plate with a slice of plain cheese pizza.
“Thank you. It’s like you read my mind” You said off-handedly as you took the plate.
Pietro choked on his bite and Nat patted his back with a smirk on her face.
Thor looked at you in question as he shoved two slices into his mouth simultaneously.
You simply shrugged and stated by how you were vegetarian. Tony froze and immediately spoke out loud “FRIDAY please remember that y/n is a vegetarian”
You looked at him quizzically. Why would it matter-
“Understood boss.” Came a female voice from somewhere.
You stopped mid bite and looked up at the ceiling.
“God?” You wondered out loud.
“Yes?” Thor replied immediately.
Everyone burst out into laughter as you chuckled, completely embarrassed.
“That’s Tony’s AI, ‘Friday’. Anything you need, it can help you do” Bruce stated.
Your eyes widened.
“AI? Like Artificial Intelligence? Like genuine artificial intelligence” You asked.
Confused, Bruce nodded.
You gasped, turned to Tony who was just as confused as Bruce was.
“Oh my god that’s amazing. You could use the AI’s interface as an introductory step to the analysis of anything and everything?? Or you could connect it to modern appliances and provide a level of comfort for those with disabilities?? Or you could use it to efficiently calculate the resources required to provide food to the population? Or- um.. Never mind. Sorry” You shrank in your seat.
Once again, all eyes were on you as you had finished your rant.
“That.. um.. Yeah. We could use it for that.” Tony said, looking a little sheepish. “But at the moment we’re.. um.. using it-“
“we’re using it to order dinner” Bruce finished, looking equally sheepish.
You just stared at them. Of all the possible ways a successful AI could help this world.. They used it to.. order takeout?
Steve cleared his throat.
“Anyway” he started “Clint told us that during the fight in Sokovia, you had healed the injured?”
You shifted your gaze from Tony to Steve and nodded, confused.
“Would it be okay if we ask you a little about it? Just the extent of your abilities?” He inquired
Nodding once again, you prepared yourself for the upcoming conversation.
“Could you tell us a little about your abilities?” Natasha asked gently.
Clearing your throat, you began “So my abilities are essentially healing. I can heal anything and everything. Short of death? I think? I’m not sure. I’ve never tried. It feels a little disrespectful to go against the natural order of things. It’s not limited to humans, I can heal animals, plants (kind of?). It doesn’t matter how severe the injury is. If you lose an arm, I can heal you so it grows back. If you’re shot, I’ll heal you and the bullets just.. pop out of your body. And um, I can heal myself too? No matter what injury it is, I can heal it. Anything with a soul, I can heal.”
Everyone looked at you impressed, Clint and Pietro merely nodded along already having witnessed it first hand.
“What about gods? Could you heal us?” Thor inquired.
You nodded.
“I’ve never tried to heal a god, but I can heal anything with a soul” you said
“That settles it” Tony said, standing up and walking towards you. “Welcome to the Avengers.”
Your eyes widened.
“Um what? No. I can’t- join the avengers?? I- I have work to do? I’m a- a bartender?” You stammered.
Tony looked at you unimpressed. “We’ll pay you. Your starting salary can be $300k per yea-“
“I’m in” you said determined, causing everyone to burst into laughter. You smiled sheepishly.
Everyone started get up as soon as they realised the matter was settled. Some said they were heading to the game room, while other’s said they’d workout. Everyone made sure to welcome you to the avengers and patted your shoulder as they filed out.
Pietro’s eyes lit up as he had an idea.
“Let me show you to your room, y/n” He said
Wanda and Natasha shot up. Wanda put her hand on your shoulder.
“That’s alright Piet.” She said. “We’ll show her to her new room”
Smirking, Pietro raised his hands in surrender and disappeared.
Your stood up startled.
“Did he just? Teleport? I remember seeing him vanish in Sokovia too” you asked as you followed Wanda and Natasha towards the living quarters.
Natasha chuckled “No, he has an increased metabolism and an improved thermal homeostasis”
You squealed excitedly, “So he’s fast as fuck then. Wow, I wonder what it would feel like to move around while time almost stands still”
Wanda looked at you in surprise.
Your gaze shifted from Natasha to her and you asked whether Wanda had any abilities.
Natasha briefly looked at Wanda and looked away. Wanda on the other hand looked almost guilty or afraid. Seeing her hesitation you quickly assured her that she didn’t have to tell you if she wasn’t comfortable.
“No it’s not that. I just.. don’t want you to by scared of me” She said, not meeting your eye.
By now the three of you had entered your new room but you weren’t paying any attention to that. Your attention was solely on the gorgeous brunette in front of you.
“I highly doubt anything about you would scare me, Wands” you said softly.
Her head shot up at you and blushed slightly at the nickname. You took her hands in yours and encouraged her. She took a deep breath and started.
“I can move t.hings with my mind. I can also read minds and control them if I want.” She said. She waited for the rejection that never came. All you did was rub her knuckles gently.
She looked at you confused. Were you not upset? Weren’t you scared of her?
“I don’t want to ruin the moment but that’s incredibly fucking cool” you said softly. Your tone not matching what you said.
Natasha huffed out a laugh. Wanda, however, was not convinced.
“I- I did things. I hurt the team. I wanted to hurt them.” She started.
You just smiled.
“You’ve more than made up for it, I think” you said.
Natasha smiled at the interaction, nodding in agreement.
“And hey, you’re more than welcome in my mind anytime” You said, bumping shoulders with her.
Wanda frowned. “Are you sure? Aren’t you scared that I’ll read your mind? That I’ll control it or make you see things” she asked.
You shook your head.
“I know I’ve only known both of you for half a day but I already trust you with my life” You said simply.
“Thank you” Wanda whispered. “That means a lot to me”
You brought her in for a hug. She immediately relaxed. She smelled like vanilla. It was incredibly comforting. Eventually, you turned to Natasha, motioning her to join the hug. She rolled her eyes but joined the hug.
“You’re aware I was raised as an assasssin, right?” She said pointedly.
You just hugged the both of them tighter.
“Y’all are so fucking cool” You mumbled to yourself.
A while later, much to your disappointment, they bid farewell as they wanted to get ready for some team building exercises. Something you were apparently invited to. Nodding said bye.
As soon as the two of them stepped out they held hands.
“That woman sure is something” Natasha said with a content sigh.
Wanda giggled and nodded her head. Natasha raised her eyebrow.
“Got something to say Wands” she teased
Wanda in turn shoved her rolling her eyes.
“Nothing to say, princess” Wanda retorted.
Narrowing her eyes, Natasha grabbed Wanda’s arm and shoved her into the wall. Wanda’s breath hitched at the action. Causing Natasha to smirk and step closer until their noses were touching.
“Careful what you say, detka. Don’t forget whose in charge” Natasha husked out, slotting her leg between Wanda’s thighs.
Wanda whimpered and crashed her lips into Natasha’s. Natasha, in turn, bit Wanda’s lower lip causing wanda to gasp. Allowing Natasha to put her tongue in Wanda’s mouth. A soft moan left Wanda’s throat as she fisted Natasha’s t-shirt. Heat starting to pool in Wanda’s belly.
“Shhh kotenok. We don’t want y/n to hear how much of a slut you are, do you” Natasha whispered right next to Wanda’s ear, biting the lobe gently. Wanda shivered in return. Not realising that she had already started to rub her core against Natasha’s thigh, pleasure slowly made it’s way up Wanda’s body. Before they could go any further, your door opened.
“Oh by the way could someone show me where the team building activity is-“ You stopped in your tracks as you looked at what was going on. Wanda was breathing heavy, looking absolutely delicious. Your eyes widened and you backed up into your room and slammed your door shut after letting out an apology.
Wanda came to her senses and shoved her hand onto her face. Natasha on the other hand just chuckled.
“Guess the cat’s out of the bad” She said. “Come on, lets go somewhere where I can take care of you”
Wanda gulped and nodded. While she was embarrassed, she was also extremely turned on at the thought of you watching what happened. Grabbing Nat’s hand she dragged her to her room to finish what Nat had started.
In your room you were absolutely flustered. Your arousal at an all time high. Seeing those two in that position was exactly what worked for you. You fell into your bed. Unable to help yourself, your hands roamed your body, Touching yourself in places that felt oh so good.
These two were going to be the death of you

OMG HI!
Ok so in one of your Pietro headcanons things you said Pietro was a morning person and let me tell you I am most certainly not so can I request Pietro x non morning person reader headcanons 💕💕 I can just imagine him running super fast around her in circles and her just looking at him like 🤨-😐-😞-😴
hiii!! neither am I!! im just a grumpy miserable bitch in the morning😭 that’s very cute! thanks for requesting, hope you like it💌
NOT A MORNING PERSON HC’S
pietro maximoff x female reader
— I def think he's the annoying kind of early bird, one that's like, "you woke up at 9? ive been awake since.." one of those that sorta shames you for sleeping 'late', but he's not mean about it!! just cocky and irritating (but in a kinda cute way (I put that lightly))
— talking of which, he wakes up at 6 am (or 5) naturally. 7 is him being naughty and lazy
— in the morning, he religiously goes for a run. doesn't matter the weather, he's out the door by 6:30
— after the run, he comes back, showers and gets some work done around the house/ flat. maybe does the dishes from last night's dinner like a good little boy (im kidding)
— maybe he makes himself some breakfast, def something VERY healthy with lots of (idek!!? im not a health nut, but like pulses, wholegrains????) maybe eggs, sourdough and a big bowl of porridge with berries and nuts on the side. he's a freak, so he has no butter on the toast and no chocolate in the porridge. he def has a mid-morning lunch too, just bc he's constantly burning so much
— by 9, he's done everything he needs to do for the day, so he'd go and check on you, seeing you sleeping soundly - probs wanting to wake you up
— he'd whisper your name loudly, maybe prodding you awake. you'd open one eye, giving him a death glare. you'd huff and roll over, sleepily telling him to get lost
— he'd try again, maybe stroking over your back (as you’re now facing away ) you'd grumble, covering your face with a pillow or your arm
— he'd whiz around the other side of the bed, trying to coax you out to start the day he planned. he'd see how tired you are, so he drops it, kissing your forehead and saying how he'll be back in 10 to wake you
— he'd return and see you flat-out asleep, giving you another 20
— when he returns the second time, you're awake, yawning and rubbing sleep from your eyes. he'd say good morning, and tell you look pretty. also calling you a sleepy head or something
— when you're finally up and about, he'd be kinda hyper (not like a kid) but VERY awake whereas you'd be the complete opposite. yawning, grumbling, rubbing eyes all that stuff
—also, he's always telling you that you should wake up earlier bc it's good for you (blah blah I don't wanna hear it) and you tell him the same - how he should wake up later bc it's better for his health. it causes some lighthearted conflict

Run To You | Peter Maximoff
Part 3 / 3
Part 1 , 2
Tumblr media
Summary: Peter is keeping away from you to keep you and your baby safe, but it's killing him. Vision comes to question him about you and then helps you regain control of your memory. You go to find and reunite with the man you love.
Warnings: pregnant reader
It had been a few days since Peter had seen you, and it was killing him. Wanda was keeping you away from him, and he knew it. He could see how angry she was on her face. That night, you became lucid only briefly and got under Wanda’s skin. After she guided you out of the house and closed the door, he didn’t miss how she scowled at him as she walked back to the kitchen.
Stay away from her if you want them safe.
She whispered into his head menacingly. Since then, he’s basically been on house arrest, living with some lady named Agnes.
Oh, Petey! How’re you doing today, you little sourpuss?
She called as she entered the attic. He was lying on an old couch, staring up at the ceiling. His mind was racing, but he felt so empty. He couldn’t get that night out of his head. He was so worried about you that warning scared him. He just wanted to keep you and your son safe, but he knew to do that he had to abide by Wanda’s wishes and stay away, no matter how much it hurt.
Owh...
Agnes tutted, pouting at the site of him. Dried tear stains on his cheeks, eyes puffy and red, laid out on the couch where he hadn’t moved in hours.
Still being a big ol’ crybaby, I see.
She teased. He just sniffled and wiped his cheeks with his sleeve.
What do you want, Agnes?
He asked hollowly. She just scoffed and went over to the couch. She grabbed his feet and tossed them on the floor, causing him to turn abruptly into a sat-up position.
Hey what the fu-
His sentence was immediately caught in his throat when he saw who stood in the doorway behind Agnes.
Oh, should I have mentioned that first… whoopsie.
Agnes said sarcastically, pointing to the figure.
Are you Pietro Maximoff?
Vision asked, approaching him. Peter could only stare, mouth agape and eyes full of anxiety.
I- um- ya. Ya, totally robo-bro. What’s up?
Peter said shakily, hesitantly rising from his place on the couch and landing a gentle, playful punch to visions shoulder. Then there was silence. Peter watched as vision stared into his eyes as if trying to read his mind, but he didn’t feel any familiar pokes like when the professor did it. Finally, Agnes cleared her throat.
Alright, well, I think you got this handled; I’m just gonna leave you, girls, here to chat. I gotta go give somebody a one-way ticket to doggy heaven.
She said this quickly and then left the attic, but neither acknowledged nor even really heard her. Once she left, Vision spoke again.
I’m only going to ask you this one more time... Are you pietro Maximoff?
He was stern but not angry. Peter was scared. It was obvious Vision knew something, and he wasn’t sure if he should be honest or play his given part, knowing making a mistake could hurt you and your baby.
I- I’m not...
He whispered shakily. Keeping Visions gaze.
I- I’m Peter Maximoff. I’m- I’m uh- I’m from another d- dimension.
He stuttered, unsure of if he made a mistake.
Who is yn to you?
Vision asked. Peter took a shakey breath.
My uh- my wife. Her name is yn Maximoff. We’ve been m- married for three years. She’s preg- pregnant with our s- son.
He explained, deciding to stick with honesty. Vision only frowned.
Why are you here?
We’re not here to like- hurt you or- or Wanda or your uh- your sons. We were s- sent here. We’re part of a uh- team of mutants. We’re called X-men. We’re just- just investigating this place.
He pleaded. Vision took a moment to think.
Why were you so disturbed upon seeing your wife the other night?
He asked and sat on the couch, gesturing for Peter to join him. Peter suddenly felt more relaxed, like he had passed a test. He was still nervous that if he messed up, it’d put his family in danger, but he also felt Vision wanted to actually have a conversation. He sat down, rubbing his palms on his thighs, then joined his hands and looked at the floor. He spoke.
She’s not supposed to be here...
He admitted. Vision just listened.
We heard of this place and the insane amount of power going into it about half a year ago. I just found out yn was pregnant, and we were so happy.
Peter said, smiling at the memory.
We talked about it, the X-men. We tried to research it from our dimension because the professor was worried that whoever was controlling it would jump to our dimension and pose a danger to us since it was like a shit ton of power. He wanted to take "preventative" action.
He explained, making air quotes with his fingers and looking at vision, who nodded, encouraging him to continue. He turned back to the floor.
Anyway, the power in this place was off the charts, like nothing we’d ever seen, and the professor was worried, so we did everything we could to look into it from our dimension. Eventually, the professor decided it wasn’t enough and wanted to send one of our people here to look into it in person and report back anything we found.
Peter paused and took a shaky breath.
It was supposed to be her...
He admitted looking to Vision, lips pressed together.
Yn was supposed to come. Her mutation is more compatible with the type of power used here, and the professor said she would get the best results the fastest.
He said, his eyes tearing up again.
He sent her here? In her condition?
Vision asked, taken aback for a moment by this professor's lack of compassion. Peter shook his head, turning back to the floor.
No. I wouldn’t let him. At the time, she was almost 5 months pregnant. Just started to show. There was no way in hell I would let her go on this mission in her condition. I didn’t want my family at risk.
He said, jabbing a thumb in his chest and meeting Vision's eyes.
The professor offered to send me with her. I said no I don’t want her going at all. The professor said no, she has to go; she knows about this shit better than anyone.
Peter rambled.
Finally, I said. She’s not going. That’s final. I don’t want my pregnant wife going to another dimension that is this unknown. I’ve been with her for six years. I know about this stuff; she’s taught me. Send me.
Peter said strongly.
So he did...
He finished and Vision nodded.
Why is she here if you demanded otherwise?
He asked, and Peter scoffed, sniffling and wiping his eyes.
I should’ve known better. She’s always been stubborn. Never one to listen to me, or anybody for that matter.
He chuckled.
I don’t know how she got here or when she got here, but that night was the first time I’d seen her in two months.
He cried at the thought head in his hands. Vision just watched with a frown
She's not supposed to be here. She was supposed to be home. Where they’d be safe.
He cried, gesturing forward with his hands.
And I just- I saw that look in her eyes. That empty look. She wasn’t herself, she wasn’t dressed like herself, she didn’t talk like herself. She was-
He cut himself off from continuing. Vision looked on intently, but Peter wasn’t sure if he should continue. Fuck it.
She was under Wanda’s control.
He finally said. Vision was taken aback.
Then we were on the couch, and she remembered me. She called me Pete and told me we were having a baby boy. She let me touch her belly, hold her, kiss her, and… I had her back.
He cried smiling.
Then Wanda came into the room, and she was gone again. And after she left for the night, I heard Wanda in my head. She warned me, saying, "Stay away from her if you want them to be safe."
His tone suddenly turned scared, and he pointed to his head frantically.
So I’ve been here, keeping away, making sure my family is safe in the only way I can think of.
He finished. Vision just sat there as Peter cried. He didn’t know how to comprehend everything he had just been told. He waited for Peter's crying to ease up before speaking again.
Thank you, Peter.
He said, rising from his spot on the couch. Peter followed him with his eyes.
You’ve been most helpful.
He said, exiting the room. Leaving Peter sat there, mouth agape, staring at the now shut attic door. He suddenly felt sick. He was absolutely terrified that he’d done something wrong and worried beyond belief for the well-being of his wife and son.
You were humming quietly to your baby bump. Wanda was in the kitchen, and the twins were in their room. You were sat in the living room watching your baby bump stretch with every kick your son landed in response to your humming and giggling quietly to yourself.
Yn...
Vision calls gently as he enters the room, pulling in your attention. You smile widely.
Hello, vision. Come here!
You greeted him and waved him over. He listened and came to sit at your side. You grabbed his hand and put it on your bump.
Watch this...
You giggled and began humming again. It didn’t take long for your baby to respond with a kick, and you giggled again.
He’s quite the dancer.
Vision joked with a smile, and you nodded. He pulled his hand away, folding them on his lap.
I would like to talk with you about your husband.
Vision said bluntly. It made your smile falter and stopped your humming. You loosely hugged your bump and nodded.
Ok...
It’s not that you didn’t like talking about him. It was just a painful topic.
Who is your husband?
He asked, and you laughed like it was an obvious answer he should’ve known.
Oh, come on. You remember him. He used to attend Mommy and me classes with us.
You explained simply.
No yn. Who is he?
He insisted, causing you to frown. You thought about it for a moment, but all you could remember were those classes, and even those felt like a dream. You couldn’t remember a name, a personality, or a face.
Um- I don’t know- I- I- think I’m getting confused again.
You said nervously, laughing. Vision shook his head.
When did you find out you were pregnant?
He asked. And you paused again. You had no idea. You began to panic, your breathing picking up slightly. You wanted so badly to remember something... Anything.
I don’t know...
You whispered, your head beginning to pound. Vision watched as your eyes darted across the floor as if physically searching for an answer to Vision's questions.
Why did you come to Westview?
After a moment, he finally asked. His tone was serious. It was like he wasn’t asking you conversationally but rather pushing for the answer, demanding it. You tried your hardest to remember what you were doing here. When you got here. Nothing came to mind besides a memory of your husband saying you should move there. But it felt so wrong, so fake, like it was planted there, which sent you spiralling.
Vision, I’m going to Agnes’ for an hour or so. I’ll be back shortly. The boys are in their room, and lunch is on the stove.
Wanda said cheerfully. He responded by standing and giving her a quick goodbye kiss, hoping she wouldn’t notice her best friend regaining her self-control. He said, guiding her to the door.
Oh, yn would you like to come?
Wanda quickly asked, but Vision moved between Wanda and yourself again.
Darling, yn and I are engaging in a rather enjoyable discussion regarding existentialism. I’d prefer to continue it.
Vision explained, and Wanda chuckled, rolling her eyes and moving to the door.
Oh, you big thinkers. Alright, I’ll let you get back to your oh so important discussion.
She said teasingly, and Vision smiled, opening the door for her.
Thank you, darling. Have fun.
He said, and she quickly waved to yn before heading out the door.
Vision...
Yn called desperately from the couch. He closed the door, turning back to yn He quickly responded to her call by sitting back beside you and comfortingly rubbing soothing circles on your upper back.
Vision, my head feels like it’s going to explode. I think I’m going to be sick.
You whined, grabbing your head as tears rapidly ran down your cheeks. You didn’t remember anything but a simple fabricated backstory. The more you tried, the worse your head pounded and spun.
It’s alright, yn. Keep going.
Vision encouraged. Going where? What does he want from me?
Who are you?
He asked, pulling your hands from your head and placing his in their place. Looking directly into your terrified, tear-filled eyes.
Who are you?
He asked again, the stone embedded on his forehead glowing slightly. Then it all came flooding back. Memories of Peter, your wedding, the X-men, the X-mansion, the mission. Your whole life returns in a tidal wave of emotion. He could see that you remembered. He saw how your eyes suddenly shone with a light that hadn’t been there previously, a missing consciousness because of his wife. Your breathing was ragged, and you pulled back from him, looking frantically around the house. Confused and scared.
Who the hell are you?!
You spat, but your voice gave away the fear you hid behind a brave facade.
Where am I?!
You demanded, yelling and slowly standing from your place on the couch. A protective hand on your bump.
My name is Vision. You must be yn Maximoff.
He said cautiously, slowly extending a hand to you. You looked down at the hand and then at his eyes, a frown settling on your brow.
How do you know me?
You asked. Vision retracted his hand and cleared his throat.
I am an acquaintance of your husband, Peter Maximoff.
He explained. The frown disappeared from your face, replaced by a look of shock and relief as your mouth fell agape. Vision suddenly felt his mind being poked and prodded.
Are you reading my mind?
He asked curiously, not concerned by the blatant disregard for his privacy but intrigued. The sensation stopped, and your mouth snapped closed.
No. I can’t read minds.
You said.
I’m reading your life.
You explained. Vision frowned and gestured, encouraging you to elaborate.
I can tap into your experiences, past, future, and present, like jumping through a timeline.
You said cautiously. He was impressed. He had to admit that kind of power fascinated him.
Is that all you can do?
He asked, and you shook your head.
I can manipulate memories, force you to relive them and make false ones. My mutation is reminiscent of what you would call divination magic in this dimension... Where’s Peter? Take me to him.
You demanded. Vision took a moment to comprehend all he’d been told, then considered your request.
I will take you to him.
He agrees, and you release a sigh.
But first, I must tell you all you have missed. He said, sitting on the sofa and gesturing to the spot beside him. You hesitated, but eventually, your curiosity got the better of you, and you joined him, eager to listen.
His foot was tapping. No, it was racing. Since vision left, it hadn’t stopped moving. He didn’t know what to do or if he did something wrong. He thought he was doing the right thing. Vision seemed so open to wanting to see the truth, and when he left, he was angry. Or was he? Peter couldn’t remember, and he’d gotten to that point where his mind was making stuff up. Maybe Vision wasn’t angry. Maybe it was a test, and he failed, and now vision was going to hurt you just like Wanda had warned. God, his whole body started to buzz at the thought. His first instinct was to race to you before vision found you, grab you, and take you as far away from this place as possible. He decided against it, though, when he really thought about it. He knew nothing about this place or the power that controlled it. For all he knows, Wanda could already hear him planning and be preparing to interfere before he even has the chance. It’s safest to stay. Especially if she’s watching him, he doesn’t know the extent of her power and doesn’t want to test it. Maybe you should’ve come originally. You probably would have already gathered all the data you could and been home. But he came, and now it’s been two months, and you're here being mind-controlled. It was his fault you’re in danger. He began to cry again. He was drowning in his fear, sadness, and guilt. His brain and sobs were so loud he didn’t hear the footsteps racing up the stairs or the attic door being opened. He didn’t hear your soft, broken gasp at the sight of him or your gentle but urgent steps toward him. But he heard your voice as you kneeled before him and felt your touch as you reached for him.
Pete...
You called concerned. His head shot out of his hands, and his eyes met yours. He was frozen for a second, stunned that you were here and that you remembered him. The moment your palms cradled his face, he fell off the couch to his knees on the floor in front of you and pulled you into a tight, desperate hug. You reciprocated by wrapping your arms around his neck and raking your hand through his hair.
Baby, I’m ok... We’re ok...
You consoled concerned. Rubbing your hand up and down his upper back. He just squeezed tighter, burying his face in your neck, crying. He was so relieved that he fell apart in your arms.
I’m sorry, baby. I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault.
He whispered like a chant, over and over. You just shook your head, pulling back. He reluctantly let you go, and you cupped his face again, using your thumbs to wipe his tears. You shushed him.
It’s not. It’s not your fault. I came here of my own will, and Wanda took control of my mind. You didn’t do anything wrong.
You explained, and he shook his head.
I did! I left you there! I hid! I stayed away! I wanted to grab you and run, but I was a coward!
He cried, and you smiled sadly at him.
Vision explained everything. You did it to protect me. To protect us.
You said, taking his hand with one of yours and guiding it to your belly. His fingers spread as soon as he felt it under his palm. Wanting to feel it as much as possible to assure himself you both were ok.
It’s ok Pete...
You comforted him. Rubbing the back of his hand with your thumb. His breathing began to slow, and his cries stopped. A stray tear sneaks out every now and then.
If you came originally like Charles wanted, none of this would’ve happened.
He said, looking at your belly.
You don’t know that. This is bigger than any of us thought. If I had come, I might have been stuck here. Under Wanda’s spell. Unable to break out because I didn’t have you.
You explained. Your silver lining outlook not going unnoticed by him. It’s one of the reasons he fell for you. You could always find the positive in any situation. He smiled gently, grabbing the back of your neck and pulling you into a crushing kiss full of love and desperation. You were surprised, but it didn’t take long for you to melt into him. Missing this physical contact you’ve been deprived of for the last two months. When you finally pulled away for breath, your foreheads were pressed together, and you smiled lovingly at each other. You were happy to have found your husband. Safe. Alive. And he was happy to have you back in his arms, relieved you and his son were finally where you’d be safest. With him.

Chapter 34. Me, a name I call myself

This chapter is largely setting the scene for what is to come, brace yourselves <3
pairing: Pietro Maximoff x OFC
warnings: Some angst, canon-typical violence, forgiveness, Bucky Barnes needs a break
“I think perhaps it’s time we address what you remember about your time with Hydra.” Dr. Norris said.
“Haven’t we already done that?”
He flicked through his notebook until he found the page he was looking for, scanning his notes before glancing back at me. “We’ve been over it, but we never appropriately addressed one of the main breakthroughs we made… you said you remember the man in the lab coat telling you where you were born, the date, and your name. That suggests perhaps this was sort of the conditioning; sort of them removing who you were.”
I opened my mouth but closed it again soon after, unsure how to respond. Of course it had crossed my mind, but I’d never really allowed the thought to linger for long. His words sent me reeling, lost in my own thoughts. They threatened to overcome me, it felt like sitting in a vat of honey or molasses, swimming through it was fruitless but the more I wadded the more my limbs grew weary but the sticky, unyielding insanity promised to suffocate me if I sat in it too long. It was only a matter of time before I had to address the elephant in the room, the niggling thought that had lived at the back of my mind for months.
I didn’t know what it was that made this small piece of the puzzle feel especially daunting. Perhaps it was that this was the one thing left of me that hadn’t been up for debate. The one constant even when my mind was muddled and tampered with my name was still mine, even when everything else was stripped from me. “Okay,” I murmured, leaning back in my chair.
“Great. Let’s begin by going back to the room where you were kept for conditioning, then throughout our next sessions we’ll try to dig deeper into your memories from before.”
When I stepped out of the room it felt like my head was underwater, everything was a little distant and muffled. I felt the sun on my flesh as I passed the large floor-to-ceiling windows that lined the corridor, it kept me
“Nads, there you are!” Natasha’s voice pulled me from my reverie.
“Here I am.” I murmured in response. The moment she asked me what I had planned for tomorrow I realized why she was looking for me. “I am not going to Vienna for the United Nations meeting.” I crossed my arms over my chest, resolve evident across my features.
She sighed exasperatedly. “Come on, please!” I turned and began to walk away. “Why so stubborn? You always used to love playing diplomat with me.” She spoke, falling into step beside me.
I shot her an icy glance. “That was a long time ago. Plus, neither of us had a say in it back then, it was all just an assignment.”
Natasha moved to step in front of me, cutting off my path forward. The expression on my face did nothing to deter her. “I know you’d rather be literally anywhere else than in a room with a bunch of world leaders and politician-types, especially given how close to home this all is. Trust me, I understand that completely, but Steve is otherwise indisposed, and I don’t want to do this alone.” The softness in her gaze and the furrow of her brow dripped sincerity and she obviously knew exactly how to wear down my resistance. “Nadia, please. I need you to have my back in Vienna.”
I sighed heavily, giving her an unimpressed look. “You are very annoying, you know that.” A smile spread over her lips at my evident defeat in this matter. I rolled my eyes at the glee she did not even attempt to hide.
“So?”
Another sigh. “I’ve got your back.”
I could not believe I’d let her talk me into this. The reality dawned on me as I leaned back into the seat of the plane, watching out the window as the blueness of the sky, dappled by powdery white clouds surrounded us. I attempted to think of something other than the deliberations that awaited us in Vienna. Though, when my mind managed to stray from that, the thoughts were not preferable. Recollections of the white walls, the man telling me all the details of my life, Norris suggesting that everything I’ve known to be true about myself may actually just be a character that was created for me. So, I decided not to think about that either. That left only one other pressing thought.
Pietro had done as I’d asked, taking me to his room and unloading every moment of his communications with Hydra. I had anticipated that he’d be willing to unburden himself about everything he’d shared with them. What I hadn’t been expecting was for him to go into the back of his closet and dig through a torn leather satchel that was hidden at the back, procuring a thick manilla folder.
He placed it into my hands and dropped down beside me in the bed. I stared at it for a long moment, sick to death of seeing these damn folders, it seemed nothing good ever came out of them. Finally, I flipped it open to read through its contents.
“Most of it is just the stuff you already saw. There’s only one other.” I flipped through the pages until I reached the final one. He had taken notes about me after the shipyard it seemed, he’d just never sent them. At first, it was just a continuation of what I’d said and done in the shipyard, he wrote about overhearing me talking about the Graduation Ceremony after Wanda had manipulated my mind. Then it went into a few basic bites about the fight with Ultron on the train. ‘Nadia is persistent, and unyielding, even when fighting something physically enhanced, she keeps fighting. After every hit, she would stand back up and keep fighting’ It stopped there, halfway through a line as if he’d paused mid-thought. That was the last thing he’d written. I closed the folder, leaning forward on my knees slightly as I thought about everything I’d read. There was a part of me that felt freed by seeing it all firsthand, reading everything he’d written, airing the entirety of the secret. The other part of me was still held back by one small factor; he’d kept his notes. I knew it was likely not premeditated and it should really be meaningless, but for some reason, there was this nagging feeling in the back of my mind that wouldn’t let it go.
“In the Red Room they… sterilized us, removing our uterus was the final step to eliminating weakness and distraction. A reminder of what they had molded us for, the singular path we were given.” Pietro was completely silent as I spoke, barely even breathing. I turned my head to meet his eyes. “They called it the Graduation Ceremony.” He swallowed heavily as those two words passed my lips, eyes shutting tightly, and his head fell into his hands. I wasn’t sure why I’d told him that, why I needed him to know that. I threw the folder down onto the bed, moving to my feet. “That is what I saw when Wanda was in my head.”
“Nadia, I-”
“Do not apologize again, Pietro.” I took a deep breath, angered by how shaky my exhale felt. “Why did you stop there? Why not you send this too?”
His beautiful blue eyes were filled with tears when he lifted his head. Exhaustion was evident in the dark circles that surrounded them. He looked utterly defeated as he gazed at me. He shrugged weakly. “I guess things felt different then. When I agreed to send Hydra intel, I was filled with so much rage I didn’t know what to do with it. It nearly consumed me, the anger and hatred. I just wanted to hold someone accountable for all of our suffering. Back then, all I really knew about you was that you were an Avenger, it was easy to lump you into the blame I had for them. At first, anyway, but then I actually talked to you.” He swallowed heavily, looking down again. “In the shipyard, you said that you didn’t look at me because you did not want to hurt me, even after all the trouble Wanda and I had already caused. You kept your eyes closed when I could have hurt you, you made yourself vulnerable in front of me rather than risk harming me. That is who you are, Nadia, and I saw it in that moment. I tried to hold onto my resentment by writing another letter, but I couldn’t send it because I knew who you really were.” I thought of the day on the train, the feeling of the window cracking beneath my flesh as Ultron pinned me to the wall.  The pain of my head being jammed between his metal hand and the cool glass. I recalled the relief that rushed through my body when Pietro pulled him away. “You said you don’t hate me, but I would understand if you did.”
“That’s really pathetic.” It was mean and I only said it because I wanted him to stop looking so completely shattered because it was killing me. We had made a deal that I would stop lashing out to push him away but, in that moment, it was all I could do to hold onto my resolve. The worst part is the way my voice turned breathy and weak along the word pathetic, I couldn’t even stand by my own words; not when my eyes were stinging again and all I wanted was for things to go back to the way they were.
“I know.” He murmured, tears streaming down his cheeks. “And I don’t care. I don’t care how pathetic I sound when I’m begging you not to walk away over this stupid fucking mistake I made. I have never felt this way about any other person in my entire life, the thought of you leaving destroys me so no I don’t care if it’s pathetic I’ll do whatever you want me to. Just tell me what to do to make this better.”
I watched him cry before me, seemingly stuck to this spot on the floor. I racked my brain for the answer that felt right. What could he do to make this better? How could this be fixed. I thought just knowing everything would suddenly absolve it all but now I wasn’t sure it had. It was hard to know what would fix it or even if it could be fixed but then I considered the rest of what he’d said, and I couldn’t deny that the thought of walking away was the most excruciating of all. I didn’t know what the solution was, but I knew that I was incapable of leaving him like this, so I closed the distance between us and wiped his tears away with the back of my hand. My forehead fell to lean against his.
“You can’t ever lie to me like that again.”
I rubbed at my temples, urging the ache that had sat beneath my eye sockets for days to give me a moment's peace. At some point, I managed to fall asleep and after a fitful sleep filled with memories of Hydra and the pages of information Pietro had written about me, I awoke to the feeling of our plane touching down on the tarmac.
The air that tousled my hair was chilly but the warmth of the sun softened its icy caress. Water dripped leisurely from tree branches as the ice faded and made way for new growth. That night I lay atop one of the plush beds, watching Natasha as she dipped the tip of her index finger into a little round jar of face cream before smoothing it over her skin. “I can practically hear the gears turning in your head from how hard you’re thinking over there.” She met my eyes in the vanity mirror, prompting a sigh from me.
My eyes trailed upward to the ceiling as I attempted to gather my thoughts. “What do you really think about all of this? The Sokovia Accords.”
There was a long moment of silence before Natasha filled it. “Honestly, I’m not really sure.”
“Neither am I.” I looked back at her when I heard her turn around in the chair. “What you said back at the compound about keeping one hand on the wheel, I agree.”
“But?”
“But… Cap had a point too. Governments always have an agenda and if we sign the accords, we become subject to that. More than subject, we become an extension of it.” Her eyes fell shut for a moment before she reopened them and nodded. “What if they really do stop us from intervening somewhere we should? This doesn’t feel like unifying with the government, it feels like completely relinquishing control.”
She nodded again. “Or the opposite, we’re forced to intervene where we shouldn’t.”
“And then there’s that,” I muttered, looking down at my hands. “All of it just feels…”
“Familiar?” When our eyes met, I knew that we were having the same thought. “But maybe our history is where most of the trepidation is coming from. Maybe things will be different. I mean you and I both agree that things have been a little out of control lately.”
Her words did little to soothe me, though I nodded, nonetheless. “Maybe.”
“Let’s just get through the signing tomorrow and get a little outside perspective, then go from there. Staying together is more important than how we stay together, right.”
I hummed, leaning back against the plush pillows lining the head of the bed. The sound of my nails tapping against the wooden side table was the only sound now. My head was beginning to ache with the incessant thoughts rattling around. Natasha’s eyes still lingered on me, evidently sensing that the accords were not the only thing on my mind. “Do you remember the day we met? We were locked in a shipping container, and you asked me where I was from, what did I say?”
“Yeah, of course, you told me you were from St. Petersburg.”
“How do you remember it easily?”
She shrugged. “Well, not many of us knew where we’d come from so it's not like I had a lot of birthplaces to keep track of.”
“Right, but I knew where I’d come from.” I continued to drum my fingers across the side table. “You asked me again in Portugal, you were just trying to keep me from passing out so you could finish removing the bullet from my leg, but you asked me where I was from again and I couldn’t remember.” One final click of my nail against the wood sounded through the room before I stopped, sitting up again to face Nat. “Why would I have remembered the first time but not the second?”
“Portugal was years later, maybe you’d just forgotten as you got older?”
I shook my head. “But I remembered again after that. I believed that I was from St. Petersburg every day up until now.”
“You don’t believe that anymore?”
“I don’t know what I believe.”
The sky was completely grey overhead the next day, almost forebodingly ominous as Natasha and I entered the conference center for the UN meeting. I fiddled with the sleeve of my blazer; palms sweating profusely. This was certainly not the first time we’d played this role, Natasha was right when she said I’d once found moonlighting as a foreign diplomat enticing but this felt completely different because the outcome of today would shape the future of the Avengers. Even with so much on the line, it still felt like yet another role I had to play.
“It’s going to be fine; you’ve got my back, and I’ve got yours, we’re just here to listen and sign some papers.”
I nodded at her, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear to busy my hands. When a blonde woman approached asking for some signatures prior to the commencement of the conference I shared a brief look with Natasha, offering to take care of it. Really, I just wanted something to busy my mind with, fearing that idle hands would only worsen my twitching.
After I’d signed what seemed liked a hundred different documents all just regarding legitimacy and confidentiality a voice sounded over the P.A. system announcing the beginning of the meeting. I found Natasha speaking to King T’Chaka and Prince T’Challa of Wakanda when I returned. Both men offered me a kind smile and respectful greeting as I approached. I returned the favor, mustering a few gentle words of introduction before following Natasha to our seats.
It was King T’Chaka who spoke first at the conference. “When stolen Wakandan vibranium was used to make a terrible weapon, we in Wakanda were forced to question our legacy. Those men and women killed in Nigeria were part of a good-willed mission from a country too long in the shadows. We will not, however, let misfortune drive us back. We will fight to improve the world we wish to join. I am grateful to the Avengers for supporting this initiative.” I swallowed heavily, looking down at the table before me, this was the right thing to do, I reminded myself of it over and over. My nails dug into the skin of my palm as he continued, his points sounding genuine, infallible. My eyes trailed over to his son who glanced over his shoulder out the floor-to-ceiling windows lining the wall behind him. I narrowed my eyes at him as I saw his own twitch slightly, something outside had clearly drawn his attention. “Wakanda is proud to extend its hand in peace-”
The king had barely gotten the words out before his son came running toward him, shouting for everyone to get down. I grabbed the woman beside me, pulling her under the table with me as Natasha did the same. The crack of the explosion was rivaled only by the sound of glass shattering and smoke billowing. Where there had been the detonation of sound and light there was now nothing at all as unconsciousness lured me into its embrace.
When my eyes opened once more it was with a gasp followed by an abrupt cough as smoke filled my lungs. Flames licked at every surface they could reach, and ashen debris fell all around. My eyes were blurry, my ears ringing as I surveyed the room. Natasha grabbed a hold of my hand; I could see her mouth moving but it was all muffled. The area was surrounded by police and reporters by the time we stumbled out toward a bench, gasping into the fresh air. King T’Chaka was dead and so were 12 other people. Sirens filled the air as the range of different authorities cordoned off the area.
“Can you hear me now?” Natasha asked. The ringing was still there but much less prevalent now as I swiveled to face her on the bench.
I nodded. “Are you okay?”
“I’ve been better.” She murmured, to which I quickly agreed.
“What the fuck just happened?”
She rubbed at the soot smeared across her cheek. “They think it was the Winter Soldier, say he planted a bomb.”
I closed my eyes tightly, scrubbing a hand over my face.
It wasn’t long before T’Challa collapsed onto the bench beside ours. He faced forward, shoulders drooping, eyes haunted. I sat a little more upright, fighting the dizziness making my head spin. “I’m very sorry for your loss,” I spoke to him, watching as he fiddled with a silver ring with intricate carvings. He looked at me for only a split second before looking forward again.
“In my culture, death is not the end. It’s more of a stepping-off point. You reach out with both hands and Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into the green veldt where you can run forever.”
I nodded, taking a moment to process his words. “That sounds very peaceful.”
“My father thought so.” He slipped the ring onto his own finger as he spoke and I could see the shift in his eyes, the pure agony thinly veiled by rage. “I am not my father.”
“T’Challa, the task force will decide who brings in Barnes.”
He stood abruptly. “Don’t bother, Ms Pimenova, I’ll kill him myself.” He was walking away before I could dissuade him further and the lingering headache was rearing its head in an especially painful way now. I rubbed at my temples, attempting to soothe the pain. Natasha calling my name brought my attention back. She held her phone between us, answering and putting it on speaker.
“Are you both alright?” Cap asked.
“Yeah, thanks, we were lucky,” Nat responded, the sound of an ambulance echoing over the speaker just as one raced by had us sharing a conspiratorial look.
I shook my head, returning to massaging my temples. “We know how much Barnes means to you, Steve. We do, but you’re only going to make this worse for all of us.”
“Are you saying you’ll arrest me?”
Natasha spoke up then. “No… but someone will. If you interfere, that’s how it works now.
“If he’s this far gone then I should be the one to bring him in.”
There was no persuading him, that much was obvious from the tone of his voice. I rolled my neck, bones clicking with each movement. The buzzing of my phone distracted me from Natasha reasoning attempts at reasoning with Steve. When I managed to slide it from my pocket, I was surprised to see only one small crack across the corner of the glass rather than an array across the screen. The phone lit up to reveal a full voicemail and dozens of missed calls, Pietro claiming the majority of it. I tilted it toward Nat so she could see what I was doing before I clicked the familiar contact ID, standing from the bench to wander out of earshot.
“I’m okay,” I said the moment the line connected.
Pietro’s exhale was so heavy through the phone I could almost feel the whisper of his breath over my skin. “Jesus, Nadia, is it too much to ask that you go a few months without almost getting killed?”
“Well, now that sounds an awful lot like victim blaming.”
“You’re not funny.”
I ran a hand through my hair, shaking loose a few pieces of debris. “Not even a little?”
There was a beat of silence between us. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m really alright, I promise, a little sore but nothing to worry about.”
He said okay. “Just… call me later, please, just to keep me in the loop.”
I couldn’t fight the way my lips tugged upwards at his words. Even from thousands of miles away, the sincerity of his voice felt like a warm embrace. He took a deep breath, signaling that he was preparing to hang up. “Pietro,” I spoke suddenly, my mouth moving almost before my mind had time to catch up.
“Nadia.” He murmured.
“I miss you. Thank you for calling.” There was a moment of silence before he echoed my sentiment. “I’ll talk to you later.”
The moment of basking was short-lived as Natasha appeared before me, a grave expression across her features. I made a sound of frustration. “You take T’Challa, I’ll handle Cap?” She nodded at me.
“Let’s see if we can’t clean up this mess.”
Steve Rogers was not nearly as stealthy as he thought he was, though perhaps that was an unfair critique given that this type of work was my forte. I tracked him to the café with little trouble, watching as Sharon slid a file across the bench in an act of defiance that could most definitely get her fired. The moment she’d departed I slipped through the small crowd and sidled up beside Sam.
“You know for someone whose whole brand is basically being a stickler for the rules, you sure seem comfortable bending them,” I spoke, propping my chin up on my fist atop the counter. Sam flinched hard, whipping around to face me.
“Where the hell did you come from?”
I merely rose an eyebrow at him, as if to say ‘really?’ before turning my gaze to Steve who adjusted the cap on his head with a sigh that was brimming with exasperation. “Don’t try to talk me out of it, Nadia.”
“What exactly is the plan here? Walk in and ask politely for Barnes to surrender. Because, no offense, Cap, but that is a really stupid idea. Almost as stupid as this disguise. Seriously, baseball cap and sunglasses? You look suspicious as shit; you’d be more under the radar in that ridiculous blue super suit of yours.”
He narrowed his eyes at me, setting his jaw as he listened, Sam choosing not to engage, though I saw the upward twitch of his lips. “Are you done?” I shrugged, choosing to swallow the last few taunts about his disguise, not the time. “I know you don’t trust him. You have every right to feel that way, but you said that you understand what he means to me. So don’t try to stand in my way, because it isn’t going to work.”
“I know.” My words gave him pause, mouth slightly open still, as if on the brink of repeating himself. “At no point on the way over here was I expecting to change your mind on this. Your plan of action here is undoubtedly flawed and I seriously think you should rethink your disguises in the future but that doesn’t mean I’m letting you walk into Barnes’ den alone.”
Sam scoffed. “What am I? Chopped liver?”
I tsked. “You’ll be busy keeping an eye out from above little birdy.” I taunted before looking back at Cap. “I know I can’t talk you out of going, just like you can’t talk me out of having your back.”
He still tried, though his attempts were half-hearted, resigned to my determination. Or perhaps he really believed that Barnes had changed, I knew that was a large part of why he was so committed to this, he couldn’t let go of the man he knew, he needed to see it for himself once and for all. That wouldn’t be an easy pill to swallow, this was part of why I was so set on accompanying him. If things went south or he found himself unable to let go, I’d have no qualms intervening.
As I’d suspected, his plan was incredibly underdeveloped, relying mostly on the goodness of Barnes’ heart. Yet, I followed Steve into the decrepit apartment, nonetheless. The wallpaper was stained and peeling at the corners, and the windows were mostly boarded up or covered by cardboard and newspaper. It was a mess, with various empty food containers and newspapers strewn about. I pushed a pile of paper aside with my foot before glancing up at Steve. “Nice digs,” I muttered. The creak of the floorboards signaling a new presence had me whipping around, spine straightening immediately. He was unkempt, his hair grown out and stubble covering his jaw, but I knew him the moment I saw him. I leaned onto my back foot, taking half a step back.
He seemed different, less icy super soldier, more twitchy; uneasy. As small and troubled as he appeared, I still felt the hair on my arms stand. His blue-gray eyes had been set on me from the moment he entered. “Do you know me?” Steve asked.
Barnes nodded, eyes momentarily shifting to the blond man in his blue, red, and white armor. The freedom from his gaze was short-lived as he looked at me again.
He swallowed heavily, he was like a cornered animal, waiting for attack. I wondered if it was Steve he was afraid of. Or perhaps his impending arrest. Maybe it was me. I was certainly frightened of him. I stood tall, nerves strung tightly but my heart was thumping quickly in my chest and my palms were sweating. “Do you remember me?” He nodded again, eyes casting downward now. “What, don’t you speak anymore?” I managed.
“I know both of you.” He even sounded different. Less gruff, no harsh words spat in Russian. “I read about you at the museum.” He gestured toward Steve then. I knew that must have stung, they’d been friends, it couldn’t have been easy to not be remembered by someone he cared so dearly for; someone he’d risk his reputation and life for. “And we were in the Red Room together.” He nodded toward me.
“Oh, we were in the Red Room, were we?” I raised an eyebrow at him, fear being momentarily side-stepped by rage.
He looked down at his feet, Adams apple bobbing heavily and when he looked back up, he only met my gaze for a split second before looking away. His expression was difficult to read. I thought maybe it was remorse, but that seemed bizarre to me. “I trained you… in the Red Room.” He forced out. I was taken aback by the strain in his voice, I’d never heard him sound so weak. With narrowed eyes, I surveyed him, unconvinced by this shift. My mind urged me to pay attention, wait for a crack in his façade, he could not maintain this cover forever, I’d see through it. Yet, another part of me wondered if this wounded, fearful air was not some kind of ruse. It was not just remorse that I’d heard in his voice but disdain. I’d heard this tone from him before, the discontent, but back then it had been directed at me.
I ducked under the metal arm that struck out in my direction, knee scuffing over the mat as I swerved around his body, grabbing ahold of his upper arm and using it as leverage to swing my legs up and lock them around his upper torso, arms swiftly encircling his neck to put him into a chokehold. I held tight even when he threw himself backward, slamming me into the wall, I gritted my teeth and tightened my grip, body bruised and aching from the exhaustion of attempting to hold my own against someone so much larger than me. He brought his metal elbow back, whirring ringing through the room as he jammed it into my ribs so hard I cried out, losing my grip from the sudden rush of pain combined with my back colliding against the wall yet again. I fell to the mat, gripping my side but forcing myself back to my feet before he won. I kicked him in the back of the knee, but it was fruitless. He swiveled around to grab me once again, cool metal over my forehead as he yanked my head back so his free arm could wrap around my throat. The lack of air had me light-headed, tears were streaming down my cheeks, and I thrashed in his hold but at 12 years old I was no match for a military-trained super soldier. I tapped when my vision started to become spattered with black spots, the air that shot into my lungs when he freed me had me coughing uncontrollably. I rolled over on the ground to hide my tear-stained face against the mat and attempt to settle my gasping.
“Ты слаб. Такое разочарование.”
You are weak. Such a disappointment.
I walked toward one of the covered windows, peering through the crevice between the newspaper where light managed to peek through. The task force was closing in around the building, and I suspected there were people making their way to the roof as well. I could vaguely hear Steve speaking about the river and their shared past, imploring the man before him to remember, or at least to believe him. I knew Sam was in his ear, keeping him updated on the movements of the police force around us. When his eyes met mine, I knew our time was up.
“Sam’s compromised, go now.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “What the hell are you two going to do?”
Steve looked towards Barnes who seemed resigned to punching his way out. “This doesn’t have to be a fight.”
Barnes sighed, pulling the black glove from his metal hand. “It always ends in a fight.”
“Steve, this is unbelievably stupid!”
“I know, that’s why I’m not going to drag you any further into this. Go, Nadia!” He shoved me toward the door but before I could even reach for the handle glass shattered all around as the windows were breached. The door burst open at the same moment seeing several armed agents enter, I wasn’t really certain what the correct course of action was here, I had been prepared for a potential fight with the Winter Soldier, but fighting to avoid arrest for harboring a fugitive wasn’t exactly on my bingo card. As it turned out, I didn’t need to decide right now because the refrigerator was sent pummeling through the doorway, knocking down or blocking the entrance of the line of agents beelining for me. I glanced back to see Barnes already looking at me, his expression unreadable and momentary as he turned to grab his go bag from the floor. Him ever intentionally helping me was a baffling notion but right now I wasn’t in the position to dwell, instead I slipped by the fridge, moving quickly toward down the hall that led away from the stairs. When I reached the end of the hallway I slipped around the corner, pressing myself to the wall to watch as more agents ran by, heading for the destroyed apartment.
It was mildly difficult and exceptionally tedious to get out of the apartment building unscathed. But it was made much easier by the tunnel-vision officers, hunting Barnes. It wasn’t until I was halfway down the street that I realized they would now be hunting Steve as well.

Wanda Maximoff x GN! Reader
Warnings : Angst and fluff
18+ MINORS DNI
Wanda was beside herself as she lay in her bed, she knew she needed to go to the police and tell them about Jarvis. Everything from when he tried to rape her.
"It will be fine Wanda." Pietro reassured her as she shook her head. Ms Y/L/N had also come by to know what had happened and why Y/N was arrested.
"They're in a detention centre." Y/M/N told them. Miss Maximoff held her hand as she let a few tears escape. "Why did they beat up Stark's kid?"
"It's ok Wanda." Pietro encouraged her, she took a deep breath and struggled to get her words out, so Pietro recalled everything he remembered from that night, leading up to Y/N beating Jarvis up.
"Wanda." Miss Maximoff spoke softly as Wanda cried.
"I'm sorry mama." She sobbed as the two older women shook their heads at her.
"This is not your fault Wanda." Y/M/N told her. "Y/N knew what they were doing."
"But." Wanda tried to tell them about the note and meeting Jarvis.
"It isn't your fault." She told her sternly. "Y/N doesn't blame you for this. They keep asking me how you are."
"I could have stopped him." She whispered as her mom and Y/M/N just observed her.
"No." Pietro told her. "You couldn't have. Y/N wouldn't want you to become some dick's plaything. It was their choice to stop you from doing. They knew what they were getting into."
"I'll tell the police." She said barely above a whisper. "I'll tell them everything."
And that is what she did, she told the police, who also even had the neighbours who had also heard Wanda scream from the house next door. The police had also arrested a very angry Jarvis as his parents were also yelling after the cops as they put him inside the car.
"You did it Wan." Pietro cheered his sister who still looked as broken as the day Y/N was arrested.
"Did I?" She asked him. "Y/N is still in jail and now so is Jarvis, but he will get bail since his parents are rich."
"No Wanda. He has lost every chance at a scholarship or even playing in the pro leagues." He told her. "Besides, Y/N's lawyer will be helping them." He just wrapped his arms around her and held her as she cried.
As the days went by, word had gotten around about Jarvis losing his scholarships and being suspended until graduation. Y/N was still in jail, waiting for things to be cleared up.
Wanda had Pietro, Darcy and Monica by her side as most of Jarvis's friends had started to single her out because of her accusations.
"Slut." One of Jarvis's side pieces pushed her into the lockers. Wanda took a deep breath as she remained on her feet. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath before she went to her next class. That was what her days were like for weeks.
One morning as she was stood beside her locker, her friends just down the hall as she was pushed into the locker once more.
"Hey!!" A voice boomed from down the hall, Pietro was stood smiling as Wanda still hadn't recognised who it is. "Leave her alone."
When Wanda had finally looked up, she smiled when she saw Y/N walking down the hall. She just decided to shut her locker and run straight to them.
"I missed you." She whispered into their neck as she ran right into their arms.
"I missed you too." They smiled, holding her closer than before. When they pulled back from the hug, they looked into her eyes concerned. "Has that been happening a lot?"
"Yeah but it doesn't matter." Wanda shrugged as Y/N shook their head.
"Of course it matters." They told her. "I am going to walk you to every class sweet heart."
"What about yours?" She asked them.
"So I'm a little late." They shrugged as the caressed her cheek. "Can I kiss you?"
"Please." Wanda leaned on her toes as Y/N pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. Neither caring that students were still in the hallway.
"Let's get you to class." Y/N told her, wrapping their arm around her shoulders as she wrapped hers around their waist. Wanda couldn't stop smiling at all. Even the name calling that she still recieved couldn't make her smile fade away.
"So, what's basketball going to be like for you?" Pietro asked them as they shrugged.
"I think my dream of making it professional is over but I don't care." They told him. "As long as Wanda is safe, that is all I care about."
As soon as Y/N and Pietro fell into an easy conversation, Wanda couldn't help but think about if they would resent her in the future. Especially since their dream has always been to play in the NBA.
It plagued her mind for weeks until the end of Junior year. Y/N had noticed that she had sort of drifted away from them and they wanted to know why.
"Why are you being distant with me?" They asked her when she opened her bedroom door.
"I'm not." She whispered as Y/N closed the door.
"You are Wanda. You have barely spoken to me for weeks. You have cancelled on our dates and I need to know why? What did I do?" They asked her as she shook her head. Tears falling down her face.
"I just." She wiped her eyes as she played with the hem of her shirt. Y/N's shirt that she had stolen from them. "I don't want you to resent me."
"Why would I resent you?" They asked her.
"Because you won't be playing for the NBA." She whispered as they smiled softly.
"I don't care about that Wanda." They told her. "Dreams can change. Evolve even and having you by my side for the rest of my life has been my dream for as long as I can remember." They caressed her cheek. "So please don't shut me out, I love you Wanda, so fucking much."
"I love you too." She whispered as they soon captured her lips in their own. Kissing her with an urgency that they have never really felt before. Wanda felt with this kiss that she had found her forever person.
10 years later
"So that was when you knew they were the one?" Billy asked as Wanda ran her fingers through his hair.
"I guess my heart always knew but it took my mind and eyes to finally catch up." She told them both.
"Is that why you both always say I See You?" Tommy asked.
"Yes. It's like our mantra." She told them before kissing both of their heads. "Now sleep before I sell all of your toys." She told them jokingly before she turned out the light. Waiting for Y/N to get home.
When they had finished college, they decided to go into advertisement. Wanting to at least have a stable career to support their family.
"How was work?" Wanda asked as Y/N walked through the door.
"Tiring." They told her with a smile before kissing her cheek. Heading straight to the kitchen. Although Wanda had already cooked dinner, Y/N just warmed their food up before sitting at the table to eat as Wanda cleaned around them. Never expecting Wanda to wait to eat with them. "But it is much better now I am home."
"Good." She smiled before handing them a beer. "The boys wanted to hear about our love story."
"Again?" Y/N smiled as Wanda nodded.
"Again." She smiled as Y/N held her waist, swaying slightly before they kissed her softly.
"I love that story." They told her.
"Me too." She kissed them once more before they resumed their dancing in the kitchen. Living the dream together.

A small November fill for Build a Bucky Bingo 2023 @buckybarnesevents and the prompt AU: Regency.
Ficlet under the cut!
Rating: G Relationships: James "Bucky" Barnes/Steve Rogers, James "Bucky" Barnes & Natasha Romanoff no warnings (apart from wild liberties taken in regards to historical accuracy)
“I regret not having paid witness to such a memorable occasion. It shall surely be the talk of the town for at least a full day.” Rogers dipped his brush into the pan and added swift strokes of brown to the untamed landscape emerging on his canvas; he was in his shirtsleeves, his easel set up next to the always blazing fireplace. He paused, scrutinizing his marks. “And are you certain there is none among the ladies who has caught your eye?”
James bristled. “As I have told both you and my mother repeatedly, I am not looking to marry this season.”
He rose from the ottoman he’d flung himself down onto in a fit of boredom, to wander around the stuffy drawing room. Rain poured down outside, grey curtains obscuring the gardens; James was itching to get his hands on the reins or his boots on the ground. He turned his back to the windows.
His friend had not been taken aback by his sudden temper. He rested the end of the paintbrush on the pointy tip of his chin, considering James with the attentiveness he usually devoted to his paintings. There was a smudge of blue on the angled point of his jaw; he would forget to clean it off and be scolded for it at dinner.
“What about Miss Romanova?”
“Natalia?” James balked. “Have you lost your senses?”
Rogers regarded him with a crooked smile. “I was referring to the younger Miss Romanova.”
James opened his mouth and closed it again. He could hear his mother’s voice echoing the same question. Yelena Romanova was a pretty girl, from a respected family—and to his knowledge did not hold the same stance on marriage as her older sister. She was also known to be an accomplished painter. Her eyes did have nearly the same blue colour as—
He banished the thought from his head.
“No,” he said, declaring the topic of conversation over.
His friend did not heed the cue. “Then what about Miss Maximoff? I recall seeing you dance with her on more than one occasion, if I am not mistaken.”
James only grunted in response. He did not care to divulge that the main reason for his dancing with Miss Maximoff so often was that it provided his sister ample opportunity to converse with the brother, Mr Pietro Maximoff. Rogers did not need to know the extent to which his little sister had him wrapped around her finger.
He came to stand next to the easel to observe the half-finished painting, which did not seem half-anything in his eyes; the desolate northern hills were captured in such detail that James would have sworn he could feel the howling wind pulling the breath from his lungs.
“And you?” he asked, rather abruptly.
“What of me?” Steven looked up at him.
James waved his hand in the air. “Is there no lady who has charmed you with her intelligence, lively wit and …. extensive knowledge of art and poetry?”
His friend laughed. “I do not suppose any lady possessing all of those qualities would bestow her charms on one such as myself.”
James made a face his mother would have scolded him for had she been there to witness it. “I wish you wouldn’t talk about yourself that way.”
Steven offered him a rather pitying smile. “I am only stating the truth, as you well know. A man’s fortune can make up for much of his shortcomings in matters of looks or manners. As I am neither in possession of good looks nor a fortune—”
“Stop, please.” James grasped ahold of his arm and spoke with a rush of some strange emotion, “Not every match is made for money.”
He came to his senses a moment later, to discover they were all but standing chest to chest; the brush still held in Steven’s hand was threatening to stain his waistcoat. James let go of his wrist and backed away, face hot from the proximity of the fire.
“No,” his friend said slowly, eyeing him with a curious expression, “I suppose some are foolish enough to make them for love.”
&
“You are making my head spin,” Natalia drawled from where she was lounging on the chaise in that particular manner of hers, much like a cat ready to pounce. “Will you quit that and tell me what is the matter, or do you prefer to thread holes in our carpets?”
James stopped his pacing and spun around.
“I—” He paused and stared up at the ceiling. “How do you tell someone that you cannot fathom spending the rest of your life in anyone’s company but theirs?” he asked, rather more desperately than he’d wished.
Natalia dropped her book and pretense. “Bad poetry is a favoured choice.” Her eyes gleamed with a bright hunger. “Who is she?”
James shook his head and turned his back on her; he clenched his fists by his side. “You must forget I said anything.”
He walked over to the French windows. It was raining again, as it had been all those weeks ago. A servant scurried along the path from the stables with a basket in her arms. James stared out over the rain-damp grounds; they felt less real to him than a painting.
A slim hand grasped his elbow. “How can I help?” Natalia had never cared much for propriety when it did not benefit her—and anyone who dared to suggest anything about her character was sure to find their own reputation more affected.
“You cannot. Please,” James begged, “leave it be.”
“You do not have to tell me,” she said in a soft voice. “But I do not like to see my friend this way and I believe I know what is ailing him.”
It should not have come as a surprise that his thoughts and desires were so transparent to her. James banished the stab of fear and laid his hand on top of hers. “Then you know there is no cure,” he confessed.
“But friendship may be a balm. And if one’s friend would happen to find themselves in a similar position …”
James tried not to betray his astonishment; he had heard whispers but always disregarded them as evil, envious rumors. A small, wild thing fluttered in his chest as he turned to face her. “What are you proposing?”
She looked up at him with a matching fervour in her gaze. “Would you not say most offers of marriage are made on the grounds of a mutual advantage?”
James could scarcely breath and was not certain he’d understood her. “What would be the advantage of such a marriage?”
Natalia smiled at him and there was a deep sadness to it.
“Freedom, Mr Barnes.”

Storytelling Secret Saturday
I was tagged by @havenroyals 😘
Secret One! Let's Talk About Relationships In my first half-formed draft for Sink or Swim, Pietro was an absolute mess, but as I planned things out more thoroughly, he gradually became better and my angle around him shifted. Pietro was originally very devious, cunning, and a tad extroverted. He was actively plotting to kill Raphael, which, yeah, he is now, but the plotting wasn't really justified. Rosaria was going to end up working for Pietro due to Franco's situation with Raphael and be manipulated by him into thinking he was a good guy. They still would have had their sexual relationship. Eventually Sal would've found out, took issue with it, and Pietro set Sal up to be arrested. But then, I decided to dial it back some 'cause that would have been A LOT of drama and confusion. I remember thinking, okay what if he DID have a heart? What if he DID grow to love Rosaria? Then, I rambled out some thoughts at @ladygangsters and she was a sucker for an office romance, and that prompted my heart to soften towards Pietro and Rosaria more. I started to think of how there would be a significant sexual relationship between them, how Pietro would lead to changes in Rosaria and accordingly, Raphael became the antagonist. In regards to Rosaria, she and Ben were never meant to be a lasting couple. It was always meant to be something brief that led her to someone else. Originally, I swore I was going to have Adriano and Rosaria be end-game, but no matter how cute I felt they were, I couldn't visualize a story for those two. Neither of them changed. Similarly, before simblr, Rosie's old college friend Tariq and she were a thing. But, they also felt like a directionless pair. Pietro, even when he was at his worst character-wise, was the first person I could see her having a 'story' with.
Secret 2! The hit on Ben was suppose to be muuuuch different. So, what was going to happen was originally this: Ben was the one who harassed Rosaria on instagram. However, instead of Ben and Bethany being at the bar when Sal was on stage? It was Ben and McNeely. Sal would still follow the men outside the bar, but instead of Ben (who was passive as always) he would have instead fought McNeely and been arrested for that. Rosaria would have been pissed and told Pietro, but the punishment would have been different. Pietro would have contacted Iris from @digital-deluxe's Public Enemies who would have placed a virus on Ben and McNeely's computers. And that was it. This was my plan for awhile. But then I thought. I need to go harder than that. I thought Ben's harassment would have been more meaningful if it was shown that he was dating someone new and still had Rosaria on his brain. I thought, for Sal to directly call out Ben on stage and fight Ben would have been meaningful 'cause he's hated Ben since Dear Diary, and this action didn't sideline Ben, who is the issue and has been a core character since the beginning. I did want Ben to be written out appropriately, not in a, "well, he and Rosie broke up and they never crossed paths again and it's all good." As said above: I needed to go harder than that. I decided that Rosaria would give Ben's name to Pietro after this whole fiasco. HOWEVER, she was going to be more conscious in what she did. She was going to tell Pietro, "don't hurt him" and Pietro would agree to it. Then I thought, "nah, I need her to be totally blinded by her rage and speak through the lens of seeing nothing but red, only to be stunned when disaster happens." Why? Because she needed the character development for this chapter! She needs a little arc! Pietro has told her a bit about his world, sure, but she's only seen the glitzy and calm side of organized crime. She needed to see how brutal things could get and work through it in order to become the woman she is in the future. Secret 3!
The scene I'm depicting in my next update? It was always envisioned for Sink or Swim. But, it was actually meant to be a turning point for Pietro and Rosaria's relationship - the beginning of the end of the first half of the story, if you will. But if I squeeze out this update tonight or tomorrow? I'll be elaborating on this more lmao

After a long mission the team finds their way to a bar. At first the group sits down for a quick bite to eat all together talking about the mission together. It had been a while since they had all worked together on the same mission, so it was nice to close out the night like this.
When the drinks were added to the equation, the team split into smaller groups. Bucky challenged Tony to a game of darts, Natasha, Wanda and Pietro found a quiet corner and continued their conversation. Kate and Peter were poking fun at Steve and Clint, the older of the four didn’t seem to go for any of their antics, though it was hilarious to look at still. The rest of the team was scattered all around the establishment. You and Yelena had taken a seat at the bar, as suggested by the Russian, this way she would be as close to the drinks as possible. She loved her alcohol, especially her vodka, which she was throwing back shots of as you speak.
You were both looking around the room, appreciating the group of people around you. The people that had become your found family over the years. After some more looking around you decided to play a game. “Okay, enough looking at our friends, let’s play a game.” You opted. Yelena turned your way, ready for whatever you were going to throw her way. That’s one of the reasons the two of you were best friends. You worked together so well because the both of you were always up for whatever the other person had in mind. “Fuck, marry, kill out of Bucky, Cap and Tony?”
Yelena narrowed her eyes at your question. “Ehm I’m not really into any of them.” You were quick to fall into your next question. “Okay, copy. How about Kate, Wanda and Valkyrie?” Again Yelena’s face filled with a questioning look. “Actually, not really into any of them either.” She sighed. “Also copy.” You said to reassure her that her feelings or lack thereof were okay. “What is your type then?” You ask, genuinely interested. You wonder why neither one of you had really talked about the topic before, but you left it at the work that you do and how quickly you had been thrown into a mission together, giving your friendship a rocket start, skipping the small talk.
“I don’t really get those types of feelings for anyone. Maybe it’s one of those things that the Red Room took away from me, with the brainwashing, controlling, and what not.” Yelena looks down at her hands that she has folded in her lap. “Hey, no no no, what you’re describing is totally normal.” You quickly reassure her, placing your hand on her shoulder. “It just means that maybe you are ace, asexual. People who identify as ace have little to no interest in sex, but many of them still want to be in relationships.” You explain to the best of your abilities, knowing you’re not an expert on the matter.
Yelena’s eyes light up at the words you speak. “Oh, I guess that makes me ace then.” She says with a content look on her face, like a whole world of possibilities just opened up to her. It was amazing to see your best friend realize that what they’re feeling isn’t something they’re alone in. If it has a name, other people must be experiencing similar feelings.
You give her a moment to let it all sink in before asking, “Did you just come out to me?” Yelena laughs and looks at you with a big smile on her face, “I think so.” You lean in to give her a sideways hug. “Okay, copy.” You say with a wink. “Haha without jokes, I am very proud of you, and you know that I will love you no matter what, right?” She nods, “Right back at you.”
“Excuse me, can we get two more of these?” You ask the bartender. When he puts the drinks down in front of you, you thank him before raising your class towards Yelena. “A toast to you, and to figuring out who you are.” Yelena clinks her glass with yours and you each take a sip, enjoying the rest of the night with the team.

excerpt from upcoming chapter in cherik x avengers:
Wanda stepped forward, standing next to Clint on the couch with Vision hovering closely behind. “My name? Why my name?” Her eyebrows furrowed, and her eyes stared at Charles and Erik with a similar intensity to Erik’s stares. A shiver ran down Charles’ spine. Charles… Erik breached Charles’ mind, flooding it with more sorrow than anything now, his anger slowly dissipating as he stared at the woman in front of him. She’s alive… she has been this whole time and I just– Charles cut off Erik’s thought by doing the mental equivalent of putting a finger to his mouth. No, Erik, don’t; don’t do this to yourself. Neither of us could have known – even Pietro was sure. She’s here now by some miracle, and that’s what matters. Reassure yourself with that. Erik’s eyes pricked with tears, and he fought back their release. Pietro’s sister is alive. My daughter is alive. His hands began to shake at his sides again. This pain is unbearable right now, please… Charles knew immediately for what Erik was begging; his mind all but screamed for it. If it was any other time, Charles would have relished in the fact that Erik trusted him enough to do this, a testament to the past few months together; but he didn’t have time to reflect – Erik was in pain now, and his pain could bring down the whole building if he wasn’t steadied.

Your points about Salem and Cinder possibly being a fucked up mother/daughter relationship also puts her constant parallels with Ironwood and Winter in V8 into a very different light as well.
Ironwood and Salem, in their own dark and twisted way as a result of their culture/their circumstances loving the one person they consider to be their daughter, but differing ultimately in regards to what they chose to do about it.
Ironwood deciding that his own selfish desires and ideology mattered more than even the one woman he cared for more than most, while Salem basically dropping and twisting her ideals into a pretzel to help the one person she considers the closest thing to a replacement daughter for her dead daughters with Ozma.
Winter, thinking the world of Ironwood only to ultimately have to oppose him due to his betrayal of her and everyone else, vs Cinder thinking Salem is just Madame 2.0 due to Salem constantly stamping all over her trauma buttons by poor decisions and abusive actions born of her own trauma even as Salem, in her own fucked up way, is willing to do anything for Cinder if she truly asks for it.
It also frankly explains rather well why Cinder is so important in Salem's plan in a way that I haven't been able to pin down without that as a consideration. Cinder thinks it's because she's got some fancy storybook destiny that she needs to prove that she "deserves", and the audience being led on a red herring to think that it's only going to lead to her being discarded once Salem has no more use for her. When in reality it's because (again in her own fucked up way) Salem wants her surrogate daughter to get what she wants in her life (mixed with fighting a rebellion against the gods) because Salem knows exactly how Cinder feels about having her trust broken beyond repair and demonized by others.
And all of this occurring in the story arc where an overarching theme is of multiple parents (Dr. Polendina and Penny, Tai and Summer and Ruby Rose/Yang, etc.) being deeply flawed people who are willing to do anything and everything for the sake of their daughters.
Cinder.exe will just end up suffering a mental bluescreen when Salem ends up showing this in the most undeniable way possible, because it's so opposite to everything she understands about the world.
:)
give 8.4-5 (<- fault + amity) a watch with this reading in mind sometime. bc cinder’s relationship with salem and penny’s with pietro are directly compared, in a really interesting way:
PENNY: Why are you doing this? Why serve someone like Salem? CINDER: I don’t serve anyone—and neither would you, if you weren’t built that way! PENNY: …That is not… [She glances down, making eye contact with Pietro.] I choose to fight, for people who care about me.
<- amity is a really fraught place for penny to be confronted with this, both because it’s where cinder orchestrated her being ripped to shreds a year ago and because in order to get the comms satellite launched, penny had to let her dad remote into her system and literally use her body like a puppet and it is painfully obvious that she did not feel comfortable with that.
so… for cinder to come here and draw an implicit equivalence between salem and pietro and insinuate that penny is not free, that truly does get under penny’s skin. which i think is something that often gets overlooked, because it’s layered under the more obvious fact that cinder really doesn’t understand who or what penny is at all; but like, penny hesitates. it takes her a moment to figure out how to articulate that’s not true because there is a kernel of truth to cinder’s point.
penny was built to be ironwood’s weapon. his perfect super-soldier. and now she that she’s defied him to do what she thinks is right, half the people she cares about have told her that she’s being evil and selfish and it’s her fault if everyone dies. and the other half told her she needs to go to amity and stay there and not help anybody, and she feels like a tool, she feels like she has a million things she’s supposed to do and none of them are what she wants to do. so she has all these mixed-up feelings about… what she was built for and what she chooses to be.
and like. in 8.4:
CINDER: I… I want to search for the winter maiden. I think that— SALEM: Did you hear that, my pet? She thinks; she wants. As if she’s done something to warrant me caring about either of those things.  CINDER: We’re just sitting and waiting. Without the maiden, the vault means nothing. Let me claim it for you.  SALEM: I will tell you when and where you are needed. CINDER: But your grace— [The Hound lunges around to snarl at her.] SALEM: I would like to think I have shown a great deal of patience over my many years walking Remnant, but I do hate repeating myself. You will remain here. Is that clear? CINDER: [lying] …Yes. Yes, of course. Without you. I am nothing.
vs 8.5:
PENNY: I can fix this. […] Our message is only a few minutes long. I can try to hold Amity in place for— PIETRO: Absolutely not! You’re in no condition to do something like this. Even just the temperature out there could… PENNY: It is our only option.  MARIA: She’s right, Pietro. We have to remember the big picture— PIETRO: I don’t care about the big picture! I care about my daughter! I lost you before; are you asking me to go through that again? No. No, I want the chance to watch you live your life.  PENNY: But, dad, I am trying to. PIETRO: …Right.
<- literally. literally the exact same argument. not just in terms of what the conflict is but the structure of the dialogue is identical. the interrupted statement of intention; the practical reasoning shot down; “but, your grace” vs “but, dad”—the difference is that where salem is masking, pietro wears his heart on his sleeve, and that allows him and penny to come to an understanding that she is going to do this and he’s going to sit in his fear and support her. whereas salem gets the false capitulation and false security.
it’s pretty in-your-face (<- which i think supports the interpretation of salem’s motive being protectiveness twisting through her emotional walls) and it’s an interesting parallel to set up given that salem does, in the end, come to a similar resolution to step back and let cinder take risks. it telegraphs the possibility of constructive change, a choice to accept the fear instead of trying to force cinder into a position where the fear doesn’t exist.
it’s also just darkly funny in a way. cinder kills penny twice and is directly the culprit for pietro’s intense terror of losing penny, and salem feels that same terror for cinder. mirrors.
but yeah with ironwood and winter too, “i’ve chased a lot of shadows over the years, always expecting betrayal, but never once did i think it would ever come from you” vs “you chose to disobey my specific instructions, just to fail again. and… i’ve realized it’s all my fault.” and, “consider this my last order: step aside” vs “here i am holding you back, instead of lifting you up.”
salem if nothing else takes cinder’s betrayal as a reason to reevaluate her own actions and consider what she did that gave cinder cause to disobey her, where ironwood is by this point completely disconnected from the reality that loyalty is a two-way street.
and there’s something too in salem choosing not to stop at “it’s my fault” but fully articulate that she understands why cinder did what she did; it’s of a piece with the way she responds to cinder in 8.14, a conscious reversal of “she thinks, she wants, as if she’s done something to warrant me caring”—she does care, and she has always cared, and it shows in how she speaks to cinder when she’s not trying to prove she doesn’t care.
like. salem chose to put her trust in cinder—an enormous degree of trust, over and over again—without having any illusions about what sort of person cinder is. she knows cinder is singularly focused on what cinder wants. she’s unfazed by the disobedience because she knows she prevented cinder from getting what she wanted. whereas ironwood trusted winter because he molded her so well into the perfect lieutenant that he never imagined she could break from him, because he never understood there was more to her than the surface he sculpted.
