i really miss that smrpg vibe from shimomura’s music.
#robo ramble#there was so much whimsy and now people want her to make generic orchestra music its really saddening.#im not saying her music is bad now or anything. im just saying i rlly like the stuff that she made in:#smrpg kh lom etc..#like i almost didnt recognize her style from that one ff15(?) track bc it just didnt sound like her music for most of it#i could only really tell in the 2nd half of the song. in which it sounded like the fucking Forbidden Game#which is also an ost that took me a bit to realize it was composed by her for the aforementioned reasons#and my thought process was Wow this kinda sounds like yoko shimomura. And then to my surprise it was.#idk its like a lot of ppl are like Oh yeah shes known for her violins#but like?? to me imo i know her for like the brass she uses and mostly her style and muscial progression and how satisfying it sounds.#and the sense of wonder and whimsy and emotion you get from her music. and also how unique a lot of it can be.#example: SHE USED A HONKY TONK PIANO FOR A WIZARD TOWER. ive literally never heard of anyone using that for anything other than a saloon#but it rules and sounds just right. (also i said i know her for the brass bc this one sample she uses is very distinct and i cannot#get enough of its sound. its soooo good.)#anyway yeah weird rant. all i wanted to say is that i liek her music and i still do but i feel#that Punch is kinda missing nowadays. sad!
