(slowly cleaning out all the art i drafted but never posted) i was watching the Mr. Mistoffelees performance from the 1998 recording of Cats, and all i could think about was moon dancing about like misto with his signature light-up jacket.

update: the good thing about being into a musical i liked when i was 8 is that i still have all the songs memorized… the downside of that musical being cats is that everyone thinks its stupid lol

HELLO CATS TUMBLR!! Is anyone still here? I got back into Cats last weekend, isn’t that fun? It’s been like three years!!

Here’s 1) my repeated attempts to find a Misto design I liked, 2) redesigns (?) of the trash puppet versions of Jerrie and Teazer, and (3) a bunch of doodles of non-replica productions I enjoy.

and that's a wrap on Jellicle January. thank you sm @jellyfuljellicle for making the prompt list!! I think drawing so many cats has made me feel much more comfortable with tackling the mental obsticle course of transliterating those whacky costumes

today is the day of Old Deut.......a bittersweet note to end on. </3 I could think of no better way than to draw what is always, across all productions of cats, my favorite moment in the musical. warms my stone cold heart every time!

You know how Misto loves chasing tails?

What if this was how the tribe encountered Misto. A tiny silent tail chaser and Tuggers tail so huge and fluffy that he cant resist ^^

At night, the two would curl up in the hollowed out record player they called a bed. Misto would fastidiously work at Tugger’s treasured mane, focusing on the soft undercoat that was prone to mats, and the spots beneath his chin and on the back of his neck that the tom couldn’t reach himself. Meanwhile, Tugger would comb at Misto’s iridescent fur, purring as he caught stray sparks with his tongue. They spent the darkest hours of the night working together in comfortable silence.
