divider by @cafekitsune
Thank you for 500 followers (I still canât believe it đ„č)! To celebrate, Iâm dropping something specialâa series that started with a single unhinged thought:
what if you could rent a fake boyfriend from an app... and accidentally caught feelings?
đ COMING SOON (3rd July): Iâll be posting each one as a standalone drabbleâbut all under the same theme, so you can binge your faves or pick your bias. Hope you enjoy renting them as much as I enjoy writing them đ
rent a boyfriend here! | join my permanent taglist
Choi Seungcheol
Your parents wanted someone respectable on your arm at a high-stakes gala. You expected charm, maybe a few photo opsâbut Seungcheol treats the event like a high-stakes operation. Heâs subtly steering you through crowds, keeping a protective eye on your every move. It was supposed to be for showâbut the way he moves around you says otherwise.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Yoon Jeonghan
What starts as a petty plan to provoke your situationship quickly spirals when Jeonghan decides he has his own agenda. Heâs charming, persuasive, and far too good at playing the partâbut he doesnât stop there. Suddenly, heâs helping with little schemes, showing up uninvited (but never unwelcome), and somehow ends up making himself at home in your lifeâand on your couch.
rent here
Joshua Hong
You needed someone who could blend in at your cousinâs picture-perfect weddingâfilled with watchful eyes and whispered prayers. Joshua fits the mold effortlessly, all soft smiles and perfect manners. But in between performances, his glances linger, his concern feels too genuine, and suddenly, youâre not sure whatâs part of the actâand what isnât.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Wen Junhui
A language barrier seemed like the easiest way to avoid awkward small talk during your solo trip abroad. Jun arrives looking like a dream, translator app in hand and eyes full of curiosity. You expect distanceâbut instead, you find connection in shared silences, quiet gestures, and the way he always seems to be right by your side.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Kwon Soonyoung
You hired him to be someone elseâs fake boyfriendâyour best friend, who deserved a reminder of what good love looks like. Hoshi steps in like a rom-com lead, full of energy and affection. The only problem? He thinks youâre the one heâs supposed to impress. And somehow, along the way⊠he starts to.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Jeon Wonwoo
A harmless lie at work spirals when your coworkers demand proof of your made-up boyfriend. Enter Wonwoo, quiet and composed, playing the part a little too well. He blends into the scene with soft smiles and subtle touchesâuntil the night takes a turn and he draws the line between fake and real with unexpected conviction.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Lee Jihoon
Showing up alone wouldâve been too sad, but bringing a boyfriend wouldâve been too obvious. Thatâs why you brought an exâspecifically, a painfully attractive one. Woozi plays the role with precision: cold, indifferent, just the right amount of sting. But then he starts going off-script, and the lines between act and intention start to blur.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Xu Minghao
Your boss wouldnât stop bragging about their plus-one for the art gala, so you decided to show up with your own. Minghao arrives sharp-tongued and sharper dressed, casually dissecting every sculpture and sparking debates like itâs his job. Somewhere between holding your hand and calling your boss pretentious, he becomes the main exhibit of the night.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Kim Mingyu
You signed up for a fake-dating challenge as a joke, something light and temporary. Mingyu shows up with the whole boyfriend starter packâcooking, cleaning, carrying your groceries like a pro. Itâs all fun and games⊠until the cameras are off and people start asking when the two of you became real.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Lee Seokmin
You hired him to get your mom off your back. DK is everything she could wantâthoughtful, helpful, maybe a little too perfect. He wins over your family like itâs second nature and somehow slips into your life with ease. You tell yourself itâs all pretend, but the little notes he leaves behind suggest otherwise.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Boo Seungkwan
What started as a plan to one-up your ex turned theatrical fast. Seungkwan doesnât just play the roleâhe builds an entire storyline, complete with shared memories and inside jokes you didnât know you had. Heâs loud, proud, and fully committed. But beneath all the drama and performance, you start to catch moments that feel a little too genuine to be fake.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Choi Vernon
You werenât expecting much when you booked the cheapest option on the app. Vernon is quiet, hands in his pockets, and doesnât try too hard. But thereâs something about the way he listensâreally listens. Every so often, he says something that cuts through the noise, soft and sincere, and makes you forget this isnât supposed to mean anything.
rent here: [Coming soon to your doorstep]
Lee Chan
You just wanted practiceâa rehearsal date to work through the nerves before the real thing. He arrives with cue cards, a practiced smile, and way too much enthusiasm. At first, itâs all predictable, even a little awkward. But somewhere between his over-prepared charm and unexpected confidence, he flips the scriptâand suddenly, it feels less like a test run and more like the real deal.

word count: 4.8k contents: mingyu x f!reader , businessman!mingyu , barista!mc , hoshi is mc's younger brother , strangers to lovers , coffee shop au , unhealthy consumption of coffee , awkward confessions , mingyu is so down bad yall
mingyu comes to a halt in front of his local starbucks outlet at 7:53 a.m., which means that heâs already running late by 13 minutes. however, the giant âCLOSEDâ sign hanging on the front door doesnât seem to care much for his delay.Â
he knocks on the glass doors, but doesnât get much of a response. thatâs when a random passerby taps him on the shoulder and says, âthis outlet shut down because of health violations. dead rats in their coffee beans, or something.â
mingyu feels his entire body shudder at the thought of possibly having ingested coffee that had come in contact with dead animals. still, dead rat or not, he needs his morning coffee. he pulls out his phone, fingers flying across the screen as he tries to find the closest coffee shop while also ensuring that heâs not late for his meeting.
five minutes later, google maps, or what mingyu later thinks is fate, leads him to a tiny cafe hidden by a vibrant flower stall to its right and a giant supermarket to its left. while both its neighbours seems to have a lot of footfall, the cafe, [name], seems to be relatively empty.
as long as they make a good americano, it doesnât matter, mingyu tells himself as he pushes the door open, the chime of a bell alerting the workers of his presence. or⊠just worker, mingyu observes.
the interior of the cafe is pleasing to the eye, and whoever was in charge of decor really loves the vintage aesthetic. thereâs soft jazz music playing on the speakers, the aroma of fresh coffee wafting through the air, and then thereâs you.
you, in your pastel blue apron and hair tied back, standing at the coffee machine with your back to mingyu. even though he canât see your face, mingyu feels strangely drawn towards you, the only worker at the cafe. his worries about reaching work on time are forgotten as he watches you stir sugar into the coffee and placing the cup on a saucer. you even add two small biscuits onto the plate and turn around to set it down on the counter.
the magic of the moment is broken as soon as the saucer meets the glass countertop, because you yell, âyah! kwon soonyoung! stop texting your girlfriend in the breakroom before i go in there and drag you out myself! your coffee is ready!â
mingyu is so taken aback at how unexpectedly loud your voice is that he starts coughing out of surprise, which finally gets you to notice him. you seem to have a similar surprised reaction as your cheeks turn red with embarrassment. gone is the loud yell, and itâs been replaced by a voice much gentler, but still tinged with a bit of the chaotic personality mingyu had caught a glimpse of.
âgood morning, sir!â you greet him with a bright smile, now standing at the cash register. âwelcome to [name]. what would you like to order?â
mingyu sputters, caught off-guard at being addressed directly. âuh, an iced americano. with two shots of espresso, please.â
you punch in the order and then look up at mingyu again. the awkward pause stretches for a while, before mingyu clears his throat. âhow much is it?â
âoh, thatâs all?â you laugh sheepishly. ânothing else to go with your coffee?â
âiâm in a bit of a rush,â mingyu winces. âmaybe next time?â
âiâll hold you to that,â you smile, pressing a few more buttons before giving mingyu his total. with the swipe of a card, mingyuâs coffee is paid for, and you request him to take a seat while you make his drink.
thereâs this strange calmness that washes over mingyu as he watches you, a complete stranger, make a cup of coffee. the way you move with practiced ease, flitting between the take-away cups and coffee machine, is weirdly captivating. mingyu canât believe heâs so fascinated by the mundane process of making coffee, which heâs never paid attention to, not before today.
âyour coffeeâs ready!â your announcement drags mingyu out of his thoughts, and he walks up to the counter to pick up his drink. âplease enjoy, and have a great day.â you give him another grin, and mingyu feels his cheeks heat up.
âum, you too,â he blurts out. âthank you.â mortified by how heâs been reduced to an awkward teenager in front of someone heâs never met before, mingyu is quick to speed-walk out of the cafe and head to work.Â
soonyoung comes out of the break-room a few seconds later, and he finds you standing at the cash register, head propped up on your hands and a dreamy look on your face.
âwoah, whatâs with you?â he asks, moving past you to grab the coffee you had made for him. âyou look like tom cruise just walked in to order coffee.â he punctuates the end of the sentence with a loud gulp of coffee, for which you smack the back of his head, dreamy look gone and glare back on.
âiâm never gonna make you coffee again, not if you disrespect it by drinking it like a toddler,â you scowl, proceeding to wipe down the counter with a rag while grumbling about the absurdity of a boss making coffee for her own employee.
soonyoung is used to your grumbling and reprimands being directed at his childish and loud behaviour, but what heâs never seen you do is giggle to yourself and skip into the break-room.
who on earth had just walked into the shop? soonyoung vows to never stay in the break-room for too long ever again, because the curiosity might just kill him.
âstrange woman,â he mutters, turning around to wash his coffee cup. âmakes a mean coffee, though.â
â
mingyu has never given a second thought to the coffee he purchases daily because itâs nothing more than a necessity for his daily routine to function smoothly. today, however, keeps getting weirder, because mingyu is sat in his office, holding an empty take-away cup in his hands two hours after the drink has been finished.
his eyes trace the lines of the logo of the cafe printed onto the pastel blue cupsleeve around the plastic cup for the nth time. he canât get the quaint coffee shop and its fascinating worker out of his head, no matter how hard he tries.
thatâs when it strikes him.
placing the cup on his desk, mingyu reaches into a drawer to retrieve a blue, leather-bound journal. itâs never been used before, and somehow, mingyu feels that the whirlwind of thoughts in his head is a good enough occasion to commence the use of the journal.
he takes his trusty pen out from the pocket of his suit and opens the journal up to write his name on the first page. once heâs satisfied, he takes a deep inhale before flipping the page and resting the tip of his pen on the first line.
he takes a moment to get his thoughts in order, and then, he writes.
entry 1: 15/05/25
sheâs a stranger, and i donât even know her name, but i want to. sheâs someone i may never meet again, but my heart wishes to see her tomorrow morning, and all the ones after that.
sheâs a stranger, but sheâs beautiful, and the pastel blue brings out the brown in her eyes.
i guess i found my new regular coffee shop.

the next morning, mingyu takes a different route to work. he doesnât pass the tteokbokki stand run by the chatty grandma who wants to set him up with her grand-daughter, and heâs grateful for the change of scenery.
a brisk eight-minute walk later, mingyu finds himself outside [name] again. this time, he feels a weird sensation in his gut, which he thinks might be what others call âbutterflies in oneâs stomach.â
âitâs just coffee,â he tells himself before pushing the door open. today, the soft chime of the bell is drowned out by a loud electric guitar solo blasting through the speakers of the cafe, and mingyu is taken aback.
instead of the delicate atmosphere you had created the previous day, the environment mingyu steps into today is completely different. thereâs rock music playing, and dishes clink together as theyâre being washed by a man in a tiger-print apron?
mingyu blinks quickly, hoping that heâs seeing things, but the man behind the counter is still here, and the tiger stripes on his apron glare at mingyu intimidatingly. still, he walks up to the counter, clearing his throat loud enough for the man to hear him over the music.
the man, who was in the middle of aggressively wiping the counter down, startles in his place. he reaches for his phone to turn the music off and comes up to the cash register to greet mingyu.
âgood morning! welcome to [name]! iâm soonyoung, and iâll be taking your order.â soonyoung beams at mingyu, as if the last fifteen seconds hadnât occurred. mingyu stops himself from asking soonyoung where his colleague is, because he doesnât want to come across as a complete creep in front of someone he doesnât even know.
with shoulders slumped over in defeat, mingyu half-heartedly recites his regular order and watches as soonyoung makes his coffee. the calmness he felt watching you the previous day was now replaced by constant worry that soonyoung may accidentally break something. thankfully, his coffee is prepared without any grand mishaps, and mingyu reaches for his wallet to pay for his drink, whenâ
âyouâre back again today!â the voice mingyu has been longing to hear makes him pause. âdonât tell me youâre only ordering a coffee, sir.âÂ
mingyu canât tell if heâs smiling like a complete idiot, but he canât help it, not when he looks up to see soonyoungâs place taken by you, the barista he canât forget about. your smile manages to kickstart his brain into functioning again, even without a drop of coffee in his system.
âplease, just call me mingyu,â he chuckles. âiâm too young to be called sir.â
âgot it, mingyu,â you repeat after him, uttering his name slowly, as if you were memorizing the way the syllables of his name sounded on your tongue. âiâm y/n, and i still want to know if you want to get something along with your coffee this morning.â
âanything youâd like,â mingyu blurts out, and your smile is momentarily tinged with confusion. âi mean, iâll take whatever your favorite is.â mingyu clarifies, and you give him a coy smile.
âalright, iâll have your order ready soon,â you nod, when soonyoung interrupts the moment by placing mingyuâs iced americano on the counter.Â
âhis coffeeâs done,â soonyoung says, eyeing you warily, as if youâve grown another head. âjust grab your pick from the display.â
âidiot,â you mutter under your breath, pushing past soonyoung to grab a paper bag and pick out the nicest looking blueberry danish on display for your new favorite customer.
by the time you bring the bag to mingyu, heâs already done paying for his food and is waiting with his coffee held in one hand.
âone blueberry danish for you,â you grin, reaching over the counter to hand the bag to mingyu, who feels the tips of his ears turn red when his fingers brush against yours. âi hope you enjoy.â
âi know i will,â mingyu nods, which makes you blush this time. then, just like the previous day, mingyu finds himself speedwalking out of the cafe, embarrassed by his awkward behaviour.
meanwhile, inside the cafe, soonyoung shoots a suspicious look at you, as you hum to yourself while making yourself a cappuccino.
âso that was him? the guy who had you daydreaming yesterday?â he asks, crossing his arms.
âi think youâre forgetting who the elder sibling is here,â you scowl at your brother. âdrop the protective brother act, itâs corny.â
âiâm just looking out for you,â soonyoung huffs, wiping the counter to clean up the coffee he spilled while making mingyuâs order. âhe is cute though, iâll give you that.â
âexcuse me?â you gasp, throwing your rag at soonyoungâs face. âyou have a girlfriend! stop eyeing other men, or iâll tell her about it!â
âyou wonât unless you want to die, kwon y/n,â soonyoung threatens, and you only give him a playful wink as a response, before pulling your phone out to text his girlfriend.
â
todayâs coffee is amazing. all the worrying he did while soonyoung made his drink seems to be unnecessary, because no matter how clumsy he is, he does make great coffee.
but itâs not the same as the one mingyu had the day before, and it bothers him. he has no idea why it does, but heâs beginning to think that his interest in you isnât just curiosity, but potentially something more confusing.
he sighs as he takes his journal out from the drawer, grabbing his pen to make another entry in it.
entry 2: 16/05/25
she likes blueberries, and her name is just as sweet.Â
i know her name now, but my heart wants to know her favorite song too, and everything that makes her smile.
one more coffee tomorrow, then.

mingyu goes to your cafe the next day, just like he had intended to, and learns that you like sunflowers, if the large vase of flowers in the corner was anything to go by.
the more he learns about you, the more he wants to know, and being a human being makes him submit to his natural curiosity, which leads mingyu to your cafe the day after, and all the days that follow too.
. . . . .
entry 5: 19/05/25
today, she walked into the cafe with a crate full of oranges, and when she moved past me to get to the kitchen, i caught a hint of her perfume.
lavender. delicate, yet leaves a strong mark behind, just like her.
monday, 8:47 a.m.
when mingyu enters the cafe, itâs empty. thereâs no sight of either soonyoung or you working behind the counter, and he wonders if heâs too early. thatâs when the bell jingles behind him, and he turns to see you entering the cafe, a huge crate of oranges nestled in your arms.
âhey, do you need some help?â mingyu offers before he can think too much about it, and you peek your head out from behind the crate to take a look at mingyu.
âno, iâm fine!â you shake your head. âyou are the customer after all, i couldnât ask you for help.â
âplease, i donât mind at allââ mingyu starts, but you abruptly come to a halt in front of him.
âjustâ could you move?â you ask, smiling through the pain of the edges of the crater digging into your arms. âyouâre blocking the way to the kitchen.â
mingyu splutters out an apology as he quickly steps aside, leaving you enough room to walk past him and into the kitchen.
the air trailing behind you smells like lavender, and mingyu feels the soft scent curl up in his lungs.
within a minute, youâre standing at the cash register, visibly more relaxed after setting down the crate, and smiling at him. âso, whatâs your order for today?â
mingyu leaves the cafe later, with his americano in one hand, a slice of orange cake packed in a box, and the lingering smell of lavender clinging to him.
. . . . .
entry 17: 31/05/25
itâs another weekend, and i went to the cafe, even though i didnât have to go to work.Â
sheâs worth it. seeing the smile on her face when a child handed her a drawing of a kitten is worth it.
she seems like she likes cats. should i ask her about dogs next time?
saturday, 9:16 a.m.
âiâd recommend the butter croissant,â you tell him, punching in the order for his regular americano. âthey turned out really good today.â
âalright, iâll try that out, then,â mingyu agrees easily, and you walk away to prepare his order.
while mingyu waits for his order, a lady and her child enter the cafe, the little boy excitedly running up to the glass display to greet you.
âhello, miss y/n!â the boy calls out, and you turn around to greet him back with a huge smile. mingyu watches the exchange fondly, as the boy tells you about his week at school and the new friends heâs made.
soon after, the boy holds out a slightly crumpled sheet of paper that he had been carrying in his hand. âi drew this for you! our teacher told us to draw an animal, so i drew a cat, because you said you like them.â
âthatâs such a nice drawing!â you gasp, holding the picture up like it was the mona lisa. âthank you so much for this! how about a free doughnut for you, hm?â
mingyu learns that you have a very special way of making everyone else around smile as much as you do, and it stirs up a warm feeling in his heart.
. . . . .
entry 18: 1/06/25
she likes dogs, too. she even showed me pictures of her family dog, lucy.Â
one day, if i can ever muster up the courage, should i ask her out on a date at an animal cafe?
sunday, 10:07 a.m.
âso, youâre a cat person?â mingyu starts the conversation this time, which seems to surprise both you and him.
he hopes he isnât hallucinating the faint pink blush that appears on your cheeks when you say, âi didnât realize you heard that. i do love cats, but i love dogs just as much.â
âreally? iâm slightly more biased towards dogs,â mingyu admits, and your eyes seem to light up.
âi have a feeling youâre gonna love lucy.â
âdoes she work here?â mingyu asks, puzzled, and you simply laugh before pulling out your phone.
âlucy is my pet dog,â you explain, holding out your phone for mingyu. he also hopes his hands arenât trembling too much as he takes your phone and looks at the screen, on which youâve opened up a picture of an adorable golden retriever.
you guide him through dozens of pictures of lucy, recounting the memory associated with each picture, and mingyu decides to throw caution to the wind.
youâre falling for her, his heart tells him, and mingyu canât find it in him to deny the obvious.
. . . . .
entry 33: 16/06/25
she doesnât like bitter things. she said that black coffee was disgusting on its own and that it always tastes better with milk and lots of sugar.
âŠ..i changed my coffee order for her. my assistant asked me if i was suddenly turning into a softie, and surprisingly, i didnât feel embarrassed to say yes.
monday, 8:12 a.m.
âiâve always meant to ask you this,â you say, and mingyuâs neck hurts from how fast he whipped it up to look at you in anticipation. âhow do you manage to drink your coffee like this everyday?â
âwhat, you donât take your coffee black?â mingyu asks, and you shudder.
âcoffee without milk and sugar is disgusting,â you fake gag. âi know, i know, i shouldnât judge based on oneâs coffee order, but seriously, if youâre not putting a diabetes-inducing amount of sugar in your coffee, thereâs something wrong with you.â
âyou really think so?â mingyu asks, and you nod confidently. âokay then, make me coffee the way you drink it.â
âare you sure, mingyu?â you smirk, raising an eyebrow at him, as if youâre challenging him. âi feel like any amount of milk and sugar in your black potion of death would send you into shock.â
âthen letâs take baby steps,â he suggests. âhow about you add tiny amounts of milk and sugar to my coffee every day, till i can decide if youâre right or wrong?â
âdeal,â you agree. âbe prepared for your world to change.â
mingyu still doesnât like the way milk and sugar tastes in his coffee, but heâs willing to drink his coffee that way, as long as he has another excuse to talk to you.
. . . . .
entry 46: 29/06/25
sheâs a good sister to soonyoung. theyâre always bickering, but itâs heartwarming to see.
i should text minseo.
the coffee is getting sweeter, and i think i like it now.
sunday, 4:30 p.m.
âyouâve come a long way on your sugar and milk journey,â you tell him, setting his coffee down at the table in front of him. itâs a bright sunday afternoon, and mingyu has started drinking his coffee at the cafe on weekends, instead of grabbing his cup and booking it out of the cafe, blushing like a schoolboy.
âcouldnât have done it without you,â mingyu says teasingly. you open your mouth to reply, but the loud ringing of your phone cuts you off.
âwait, itâs my brother,â you groan, gritting your teeth as you answer your phone. mingyu still gets amused when he sees your demeanour shift entirely whenever you talk to soonyoung, who he has learned is your younger brother who ditched his position at a tech start-up to help you with the cafe.
âkwon soonyoung, you better have a good excuse for calling me nowâ wait, what? how did you even manage to do that?â mingyu watches as your eyebrows furrow with concern, and he canât help the worry rising in his chest at your tone.
âfine, iâll drop by after closing,â you sigh. âdonât get your ass into any more trouble. fine, iâll get you the ice-cream you like. iâm hanging up now, idiot.â
mingyu can hear soonyoungâs muffled protests from the phoneâs speaker before you hang up on him. âwhatâs wrong?â he asks, and you pull out the chair across mingyu and sit on it.
âsoonyoung sprained his ankle and hurt his shoulder really bad after slipping on some wet pavement,â you say, rubbing at your forehead. âheâs in the hospital now, waiting for his x-ray reports to see if heâs broken anything.â
mingyu knows the annoyance is a flimsy facade; your caring instinct clearly shines through, and itâs another thing mingyu admires about you. âdo you need to go to the hospital now? i could drive you up there.â
âhis girlfriend is with him,â you shake your head. âi told him iâd go after i close the cafe, but he seems fine enough with just his girlfriend with him. thanks for the offer though.â
mingyu waves goodbye to you an hour later, his empty coffee having joined in on the jokes he cracked and embarrassing incidents he shared with you, hoping to lift your spirits.
he feels uneasy for the rest of the day whenever he recollects the worried look on your face he left you with, and he can only hope that you feel better the next day.

mingyu is sure heâs turned every single drawer in his office upside down at least twice by now. heâs sat through two meetings and a zoom call already, but his mind is in a state of chaos as he tries to find where his journal went.
the blue, leather-bound journal, which he keeps in his deskâs drawer, is nowhere to be seen, and mingyuâs brain keeps thinking about the million other people who couldâve found it and read most of his love-stricken thoughts about you.
over the last seven weeks of knowing you, mingyu has developed a sort of habit of writing about you in his journal every day, and a break in the routine has his entire body buzzing with nervous energy.
itâs easy for you to notice how jittery mingyu looks when he enters the cafe for a second time on the same day. your eyes follow him as he stands in line, his eyes clearly distracted as he moves like a robotâdetached and mechanical.
you have an idea of what might be wrong.
when mingyu comes up in front of the cash register, he feels too nervous to even look you in the eye. he knows the chances of you finding out about the journal are low, butâ
âmy favorite color isnât pastel blue,â you tell him. âitâs just the uniform. iâm more of a yellow girl.â
â...what?â it takes a while for mingyu to catch up with what youâre saying, so you clear your throat and explain again.Â
âyour journal,â you say. âyou wrote that you think pastel blue is my favorite color, but it isnât. itâs yellow.â
âyou. you have my journal.â mingyu gulps, his life flashing before his eyes. âiâi donât even what toââ
âmingyu, chill,â you assure him. âi just opened the first few pages to try and find who it belonged to, i didnât read anything else. you mustâve left it behind yesterday.â
âi can explain, i promise,â mingyu insists. âcan we talk for a bit?â
he takes the lack of any hesitance on your end as a good sign as you immediately nod. you call soonyoung over to take the next customerâs order and then slip out from behind the counter to walk up to mingyu. âletâs talk outside?âÂ
mingyu follows you outside the cafe, silently praying that he hasnât entirely blown all his chances with you for all of ten seconds, stopping only when the door closes behind the both of you with a chime, and you reach into the pocket of your apron to retrieve his journal.
âhere you go,â you say, handing the journal over to mingyu. heâs quick to take the journal from you, staring at the cover, as if blaming the journal itself for the situation heâs landed himself in.
âcan i be entirely honest?â mingyu sighs, not wanting to make up any excuses or lies. âever since i walked into your cafe, i havenât been able to get you off my mind. at first i told myself that i was just, curious, but i was so wrong. i donât think i have a single poetic bone in my body, and as cliche as it sounds, the journal entries are the closest iâll ever get to writing poetry.â
âwhat are you trying to say, mingyu?â you shrug your shoulders. âwhat, you want my comments on your poetry?â
âiâm saying, i like you,â mingyu finally confesses. the words hang in the air between you two, waiting to sink into your skin. âi think iâve liked you since the day i saw you, and i hate that you found out this way. the journal entries werenât anything creepy, i swear. i just want to know you.â
âi never said i found them creepy,â you chuckle, and mingyu feels the weight on his chest vanish. âi think itâs cute. youâre cute. if youâd like it, i could help you out.â
âhelp with what?â
âyour journal,â you answer, gesturing towards the journal in mingyuâs hands. âi could help you get to know me better. maybe at an animal cafe, or something like that.â you add, with a barely concealed smile.
âthat would be great!â mingyu regains his composure, when he finally realizes. âwaitâis this you agreeing to me taking you on a date?â
âyouâre adorable, actually,â you laugh at mingyuâs confused expression. âcheck your journal when you get home, then text me what day youâre free, yeah?â
mingyu nods wordlessly, brain still not registering whatâs happening to him. you take the chance to move closer to him and stand on your toes to press a kiss to his cheek. heâs left standing there, lavender clinging to his blazer, cherry lipgloss on his cheek, and heart beating rapidly, while you return to the cafe.
that night, when mingyu goes back home, he opens his journal eagerly, flipping through the pages, before he notices something different on the first page. under his name, you had scribbled in pink ink, text me on my number to fact-check your entries :P.
heâs never been this fast at sending texts.
entry 47: 30/06/25
she wears cherry-flavoured lip gloss. and she wrote down her number on the first page of the journal.
iâm totally normal about this. i think.

saturday seems like a lifetime away, especially after mingyu officially asked you out on a date at an animal cafe, like he had wished to, and you said yes.
he still goes to the cafe every morning before work, and the conversations you both exchange are marked by shy smiles and curious looks. soonyoung is quick to pick up on the new body language, although he stays silent and stares intensely at mingyu the entire time heâs inside the cafe.
thereâs another thing mingyu has noticed: he doesnât order americanos anymore, and even when he makes coffee for himself at home, he never forgets the milk and sugar.
he thinks about how ever since heâs met you, his coffee order and his life has been getting sweeter. he only hopes that the sweetness isnât just momentary.

the drama - wen junhui
wc: 872
pairing: 14thmember!reader x jun
Idol au
genre: fluff
guide for requesting on my page, check [17] (pink highlighted) for my yes and no's
A/N: feel free to request guyss im currently more into writing short fics and drabbles rather than reaction
and I see a lot of you guys like 14th member fics so of course I'm open to that too!!
Youâre squished between Seungkwan and Joshua on the couch, and honestly, youâre trying real hard not to let your eye twitch.
The living room is packed. Everyoneâs here. Couch is full, the floorâs full, there are two guys in beanbags, and even more just hanging off armrests or leaning on walls. All eyes are glued to the TV. Itâs Exclusive Fairytale night, apparently.
Junâs drama.
It started out fine. You were even excited at first. Jun acting all cool and charming, pulling off the main lead thing like a pro. Youâd teased him about it too. Told him he looked cheesy in the trailer and then totally took it back when the first episode dropped.
But now youâre three kisses deep and dangerously close to losing your mind.
Junâs on the screen with his drama girlfriend. Her hands are in his hair. His face is doing that soft, dreamy thing where he tilts his head and stares at her like sheâs the only person in the world. And then, yeah. He leans in. Again.
Someone whistles.
âOkay,â Vernon says. âHeâs way too good at this.â
âBro,â Minghao adds from the floor. âThatâs not acting. Thatâs a lifestyle.â
Jun just laughs quietly like itâs no big deal. âRelax. Itâs just a scene.â
You scoff. You donât mean to. It just slips out, louder than you expect.
Every single head turns toward you.
Seungkwan grins like itâs Christmas morning. âHmm? Something to say, Y/N?â
You try to play it off. âWhat? No. Iâm just saying, itâs kinda dramatic, donât you think? Like... sheâs doing too much. All that hand-in-his-hair stuff? A little extra.â
Wonwoo looks at you over the top of his glasses. âThatâs literally how people kiss in dramas.â
âNot all of them,â you argue, even though you know youâre losing this fast.
âSounds like someoneâs pressed,â Hoshi says, grinning.
âIâm not pressed,â you say, crossing your arms.
Joshua laughs. âYou kind of sound pressed.â
âIâm not,â you say again, probably too fast.
Mingyu sits up a little, eyes lighting up. âWait. Are you jealous?â
Your mouth opens and closes. âOf what?â
DK puts his hand on his heart like heâs feeling emotional. âOf Jun getting all this romantic action while youâre over here fighting for your life?â
You grab the nearest pillow and hurl it at him. âShut up, Seokmin.â
The whole room breaks into laughter. Even Seungcheolâs smiling, and he usually doesnât get involved unless itâs peak chaos.
Jun is still lounging in his armchair, completely unbothered, one arm over the backrest like heâs royalty or something. Heâs got that tiny smirk on his face, like heâs watching something way more entertaining than the show.
âYou good?â he asks, looking straight at you.
You stare at him. âIâm fine.â
âYou sure?â He tilts his head slightly. âI mean, if itâs hard to watch, I can skip the scene.â
Heâs messing with you. You know it. He knows you know it. Everyone else definitely knows it.
Minghao gasps. âOh my god. Heâs doing it on purpose.â
Dino leans toward the TV and mutters, âThis is better than the actual drama.â
Another kissing scene starts. Of course it does. You sit there silently, arms crossed, face heating up, while everyone loses their minds all over again. Theyâre tossing out fake commentary like itâs a live broadcast.
âLook at the technique,â Jeonghan says, voice deep and serious like heâs analyzing art.
âHeâs really in character,â Seokmin adds, nodding.
Meanwhile, you are physically holding back the urge to leave the room. Not because youâre annoyed at Jun. Okay, maybe a little. But mostly because your brain is screaming and your heart is being annoying and fast and you just know Jun is loving this.
You glance at him again. Heâs already looking at you.
And when your eyes meet, he mouths something.
Just acting.
You roll your eyes, but your stomach flips anyway. You hate it here.
And heâs clearly having the time of his life knowing exactly what heâs doing to you.

COMMENT TO BE IN THE TAG-LIST!<3
<< chapter 1 | chapter 2 | chapter 3 >>

The rest of the week went down in a blur as the group planned excitedly about the upcoming trip. The city of Prague is huge, with rich culture and a number of historical places. The medieval castles are all over the place. You had always been someone who loves history and touring castles, or even museums. You were actually extremely excited for this trip despite the people you were going with. You went through every article about the places the group planned to visit and stared in awe at the amazing architecture.
Seungkwan has diligently planned to visit the main attractions of Mala Strana and has also given a day off from group activities so that one can go around on their own. Despite loving group activities, which gives you less to think about, you love your alone time. You have searched a bit about the place, and the sites Seungkwan has decided. You didnât really think much about your solo day as you decided to let the flow take the wheel for once. The countdown begins as Friday arrives. Your last day in office before holidays began.
You were working in your cabin, checking and updating anything that required your attention. You wanted to finish as much as possible so that once you come back, you are not over-burdened with work. A distinct knock on your cabinâs door made you involuntarily say âCome in.â
The door creaked open and you saw Steven, one of your colleagues from another department entering. You sat up straight, eyes glued on him as he stood in front of you.
âDo you need anything Steven?â, you asked finding this peculiar.
âYes. I uhm wanted to ask you something.â, he finally spoke as he stepped into your cubicle.
âOf course. What is it?â, you asked as you stared at him.
âI was thinking if you would like to go on a date with me after the holidays began.â, came his next statement.
You were shocked. You took a good look in his direction. You have never really expected someone to be this straightforward with such an offer, provided how stiff you are when working with colleagues. A blush crept up your cheeks as you have never been asked out so directly for a date. You thought for a while, as you believed in fair chance.
âWell, I would like to think about it. I am actually leaving on a trip this Sunday so I would like to keep in touch and meet if I feel comfortable after I return.â, you answered confidently despite the shyness. You have always been someone who spoke what was on your mind. You were not going to lead him on before sorting your feelings about Mingyu but you needed to move on so you gladly accepted his number and promised to stay in touch.
Steven was sweet enough to not argue. He was actually into casually dating and wouldnât really mind if you canât meet. He was simply glad to know you better which was actually very understanding on his part.
Saturday went by in chaos as you tried to pack your suitcases as compactly as you could. You have decided to bring in a good amount of pantsuits and few dresses. You werenât planning to pack a large amount of clothes because you can always buy new things if you pack less. You have seen some good places near the bungalow that you were excited to visit for shopping.
After everything was packed, you decided to visit Seungkwan and see if he needed any help with packing. Seungkwanâs housing complex is at a walking distance from your place hence you wrap yourself in a coat and walk up to his building.
Your soft knock is answered by a frantic Seungkwan who is extremely glad that you were there. He ushered you in and explained all the things he was planning to take, which was a lot. You went through all the outfits and were able to omit some. You folded all the clothes and placed them cleanly in the suitcase, leaving space for skincare and toiletries.
Seungkwan was extremely pleased to see that you have taken care of most of the mess that was there in the living room. After you both have settled down on the couch, Seungkwan handed you a cold drink to relax as he switched on the TV, flipping through channels to see what was on.
The sound of the doorbell made you both sit up as you saw Seungkwan fumble a bit, clearly hesitant to answer the door.
âWho is it Kwannie?â, you asked.
âUmm please donât be mad. I needed some items from the store and because of how busy I was, I asked Mingyu to bring them for me.â, Seungkwan answered guiltily.
Your mind went blurry and your body went into a flight response but you were strong enough to calm yourself down and smile at him.
âItâs okay. I need to get used to him being around. Go open the door.â, you answered softly.
Many thoughts ran inside your mind. This was the first time in the last seven years or so that you were going to be face to face with him and the thought was suffocating you. You thought you were over that childish puppy love phase but the moment you thought about seeing him, your mind started hyperventilating.
You could hear the giggles from where you sat, as the footsteps grew closer. Taking a deep breath, you turned around, only to make eye contact with none other than Kim Mingyu.
Mingyu had grown up, clearly. He wasnât the lanky dude you met in college. He was buff, a little too much for your own good. He was now muscular, with perfect tan skin and great fashion sense apparently. His smile was the same, charming and swoon worthy. The small canines would show themselves when he smiled widely, something that always made your knees go weak. You weakly waved at him as he approached the couch, a heavy grocery bag in his hand.
âOh my god! It has been such a long time since I last saw you!â, Mingyu said as he sat down beside you, engulfing you in a side hug.
You awkwardly giggled and said, âYeah. Sorry for not staying in touch. Life was hard back then.â
Mingyu nodded happily as he took out a beer from the bag and took a sip. He didnât seem like he was doubting you which was a relief. It wasnât awkward. Mingyu had always been good at holding conversations and even though in the back of your head you knew that he has seen the letter, you canât help but laugh when he animatedly explained to you and Seungkwan how some random dude pushed him when he was picking up the grocery bag.
He asked you about your life updates and you gladly filled him in with all the important events, omitting certain things that you were not comfortable sharing. The conversation went on for another hour as you all laughed and drank. The room warm, your mind fuzzy and your heart contented. You actually felt at home after a very long time. Isolation never did you good but you could feel the tingling sensation in your heart every time Mingyu stared at you for too long. You desperately wanted to be over him but he was making it so hard.
Mingyuâs phone rang, bursting in through the laughs and giggles. You peeked a bit to see who it was and you instantly regretted that. Your ex-best friendâs name popped up on the screen with a red heart beside it. Your face turned dull, as you swallowed the lump in your throat. The churning sensation in your gut was enough to make you realize your actual position in his life. He wasnât meant to be yours and it will never happen.
He blushed a bit and answered the call clearly telling her to calm down because he was just at Seungkwanâs house. From the look on his face, you could say that she was mad and that gave you the ick. The way he softly calmed her down by saying sweet words made you want to run out of the apartment and never look back. Seungkwan could feel you growing uncomfortable so he gently tapped Mingyu and mouthed âyou should head back to your placeâ.
Mingyu gave an apologetic bow as he hurried out of the door, closing it behind him.
âYou still love him?â, Seungkwan asked after a while. The silence from your side felt suffocating but you knew that you didnât have to answer that question. It was painfully obvious.
âI guess I do.â, you chuckled bitterly. All these years you have come peace with the fact that it was just a stupid crush and you would be fine when you see him someday but no. He still made you feel giddy. His laugh still spilled butterflies in your stomach. He still made you feel seen, cherished and important. Itâs the way Mingyu never changed. He has always been a great friend who gave you importance and the feelings you harboured never helped the situation.
âI think I should go home. Get some rest.â, you said with a soft smile and Seungkwan softly patted your back.
âYeah. I will talk with you in the morning.â, he said as he hugged you tight. The embrace somewhat erasing the pain that you suddenly felt.

The next morning you woke up quite early. You needed to take a shower and pack the rest of the items before time. After shower, you got dressed in the comfiest set of clothes and checked everything before heading out of the door. The plan was to board the flight first and then have breakfast in the airport itself. You were going to travel with Seungkwan, Chan, Seungcheol and Jeonghan while the rest will go in a separate car. The meeting point was Seungkwanâs house. You reached there fifteen minutes before time and waited on a nearby bench till everyone arrived.
You didnât have too much luggage. One suitcase and one handbag which had the essentials. You always believed in the concept of packing less as it gave you a chance to buy things from the places you went to. After waiting for a few minutes, you saw Jeonghan approaching the building in quite a confused manner. You waved at him and his confused face turned into a happy smile as he came running towards you.
âI really thought I got the address wrong.â, laughed Jeonghan as he settled beside you.
You chuckled and started chatting with him till the rest arrived.
Out of nowhere you saw Jeonghan freeze, his eyes going wide and a soft blush covered his ears and cheeks. You didnât understand why he was so stunned and you traced his line of sight, only to see Seungcheol getting out of his car. He was dressed in a simple black tee and some denim pants. A gold chain hung around his neck as he bends down to pick up the wallet that accidently fell. He looked up at you and happily waved, dimples and all.
âW-Who is that?â, asked a flustered Jeonghan.
You were having too much fun with this as you stifled a laugh and asked back, âDoes our little Jeonghannie has a crush now?â
Jeonghan grumbled some incoherent words which amused you even more. You finally whispered to him about Seungcheol and how you knew him through Seungkwan.
âIs he umm like straight?â, asked Jeonghan clearly stuttering.
âHe is bi.â, you answered with a smirk as he hit your shoulder.
You met Seungcheol after you graduated. He was Seungkwanâs hometown friend who had just shifted in the city back then. It would be a lie if you said that you never had a crush on him but eventually that attraction faded as your heart was set on Mingyu. Seungcheol soon became one of your good friends even though you both rarely met. You both would share memes online and sometimes even play games. He might look intimidating and charming but the man is clumsy as hell and pouts like there is no tomorrow if you donât listen to him.
Seungcheol approached where you both sat and explained how he had to take care of his dog and drop her off at his parentâs house. You introduced your office colleague to Seungcheol and for the first time since you have met Seungcheol, you saw him stutter while introducing himself. Seungcheol is a charmer, and can easily talk to anyone. He has is way of impressing a person but watching him stammer as he clumsily shook hands with Jeonghan was a delight to watch. You were actually glad that Jeonghan got someone who could distract him from the nasty breakup he went through but you were also scared that this bond might end up like a rebound.
Shaking those thoughts away you looked towards Seungkwanâs building as you saw him approaching along with Chan. You all shared familiar smiles as the hired car arrived. It was a big car as you all could fit comfortably along with all the luggage.
Mingyu was supposed to arrive along with his girlfriend Maya in a separate car and Jihyun was going to arrive with her brother Vernon.
You all reached airport first and decided to check in and wait for the rest of the people to arrive. After everyone has arrived, the proceedings were soon done as your group walked to the waiting area. You saw Mingyu sit in the farthest corner along with Maya as the others sat around you chattering loudly.
Out of the corner of your eye you saw Jeonghan sitting beside Seungcheol and giving him the gooey eyes that he always gives to someone he likes. You rolled your eyes playfully and your own eyes involuntarily went to Mingyu as you could hear him softly talk to Maya.
As time went by, your heart started beating faster. You hated how it affected you. You desperately wanted to move on from this stupid college crush but every time your eyes went to the couple, your heart sank and your gut felt weird. You were feeling too anxious so you decided to take a break and go for a walk around the waiting area for some fresh air. As you sped walked, you felt a presence behind you. It was Jihyun.
âGoddamn woman, why are you jogging in an airport?â, laughed Jihyun but immediately stopped as she saw your face.
âAre you having a panic attack?â, asked Jihyun, concern laced in her voice as she supported you by your shoulder.
âI- no- I mean-â, you stuttered as your knees gave in and you sat on a nearby chair. The cool metal giving you some sort of relief.
Jihyun helped you calm down as she slowly coaxed you with distracting stories until you felt a bit better. She grabbed a water bottle and you gulped down most of it. Jihyunâs eyes were full of concern as she sat beside you without asking a single question. You felt guilty for being like this. You hated when people worried about you and seeing Jihyun this distraught made you hate yourself a bit more.
âItâs Mingyu.â, you finally said. You knew she would have guessed but you felt the urge to explain yourself.
Jihyun nodded, gently engulfing you in a hug as she stayed like that for what felt like eternity. The announcement of the planeâs arrival startled you as both of you quickly reached the area your friends were at. Seungkwan gave you a questioning look but you mouthed a âlaterâ before you took your handbag and followed the others.
Jihyun stood behind you in line, followed by Mingyu and then the others. Even if you were one person away from him, you could hear his voice and that didnât help. You couldnât help but listen to him as he seemed to ask Jihyun something.
âWhat is wrong with ____?â, asked Mingyu in a hushed tone.
âShe overworked a bit so wasnât feeling well.â, came Jihyunâs reply and you allowed the loud chatters of the crowd to swallow their voices as you focused on getting yourself checked in.
The voices in your head started to disappear as you walked towards the designated airplane. Steps falling a little quicker than everyone around you, as your heart felt a little at ease from the thought of spending time in a place of rich history. You have always loved history, and loved learning about places.
You handed the boarding pass to a kind air hostess as she smiled at you and helped you to your seat. You settled down, taking out your book and your headphones before settling your bag in the storage unit above your head.
Your friends slowly filled in, as you saw most of them sit a bit far away from you. You were on the aisle seat, which is your favourite even though you have to make space for anyone who sits inside. From the corner of your eye, you saw Jeonghan sit beside Chan and that felt like a relief. Chan had always been scared of travelling on plane and you knew Jeonghan would take care of him.
You craned your neck a bit to find Jihyun being seated with Vernon, which is something you thought they have booked because Jihyun also gets quite anxious during travelling. You couldnât spot the rest of your friends so you decided to not cramp your neck much and settle down.

A few seconds later a soft nudge you as you looked up to see Mingyu.
âHuh?â, you asked, a bit dumbfounded as you pulled out the earphones that was blocking his voice.
Mingyu chuckled a bit before replying, âI said that my seat is beside you.â
He showed you the boarding pass and your eyes went wide. You quickly controlled your reaction and shifted a bit for him to enter. Mingyu being a whopping six foot two, found it a bit difficult but he finally settled in.
âWhy are you so tall?â, you asked, slightly annoyed.
Mingyu rolled his eyes and said, âNot my fault you still look like a high school kid.â
You were five foot five. Not that short but he still teases you for it. You stared at him, clearly offended by what he said but decided to ignore it as you focused on your phone again.
âAre you okay now?â, Mingyu asked as he fastened the seat belt.
âHuh? Yeah I am. Why?â, you stammered clumsily.
âYou had a panic attack so I was asking.â, Mingyu stated.
âH-How? How did you know that?â, you were embarrassed now.
âI know you like the back of my hand, ___. I know how you look after a panic attack.â, Mingyu answered with a soft smile.
âOh.â, was all you could say. Your brain malfunctioned. Ofcourse Mingyu knew about your every little thing. You both were once attached to the hip and now all he looks like is a known stranger to you.
âYeah.â, Mingyu gave a full watt smile as you felt your cheeks heating up. You quickly turned away from him and focused on the song you were listening to.
The announcement of take-off soon boomed in the plane as you fastened your seatbelts. A soft tap on your shoulder made you look towards Mingyu only to see him guiltily staring at you.
âWhatâs wrong?â, you asked, a bit confused.
He stayed silent for a bit, probably contemplating on what he was going to say and then finally spoke in a bashful tone, âI-I am scared of heights.â
Before the concern could seep into your mind, a laughter bubbled as you stifled it before maintaining the poker face again. He looked at you, and then sat up straight, clearly mad for the way you laughed at him.
âI am sorry.â, you said between giggles as you poked his shoulder to get his attention.
âIt was just funny to me to imagine a tall guy like you being scared of heights. You are practically way above ground anyways.â, you joked as you saw him break his character and laugh along with you.
âNah, but on a serious note, umm can I hold your hand when we take off?â, he finally asked.
Your brain short circuited at the thought of holding his hand but you reminded yourself that he saw you as a friend and was clearly asking for your help because he felt comfortable around you. You nodded your head before your mind could process what was happening.
He immediately laced his fingers with yours, engulfing your hands in a warm grasp. He gave one of his infamous smiles, where his canines would appear and his eyes would twinkle. He pulled your hand closer to his chest while his other hand went up to the seat handle for support. You could feel his heart beat as your hand remained pressed against his chest. The feeling so intimate that it gave you goosebumps.
âThe plane wonât take off for another ten minutes.â, you tried to say.
âYeah, I know. Why?â, Mingyu asked, rather confused.
âWe can hold hands then.â, you tried to reason.
âWhy? Are you ashamed to hold my hand?â, Mingyu said as he squeezed your hands harder.
âNo- I- Thatâs not what I meant.â, you stammered a little, clearly flustered from the way Mingyu was looking at you intently.
âI like being prepared.â, he said with a smirk as his hand stubbornly remained against yours.
Within ten minutes or so the plane took off, and Mingyu squeezed his eyes shut, the pressure on your hand increasing. When the plane was in air, you lightly tapped on his hand and saw him slowly open his eyes. He was definitely scared of heights by the way he was sweating even in the air-conditioned area. He gently let go of your hand and you immediately missed the warmth, almost thinking of other ways to make him hold your hand again.
âYou okay now?â, you asked.
âYeah. Just my ears are clogged.â, he answered before sitting up straight on his seat.
You took out a pack of gum and offered him one to help with the ear situation before you both went into a comfortable silence. You read your book as you listened to music and he decided to watch a movie on his mobile. The rest of the journey was pleasant as you both talked a bit here and there.
As the journey continued you found yourself dozing off. You closed your book and decided to rest for a bit before the plane finally lands in Prague. Your eyes quickly closed, as your mind went into deep slumber.
You woke up from your nap as you heard the announcement of landing. Your head was on something really hard as you turned your head to see Mingyuâs face. You were lying on his shoulder. Before you could even register, your body bolted up, quickly distancing yourself from him. You just hoped that he didnât notice as you saw him sleeping too.
âHad a nice sleep?â, you heard Mingyu say with a teasing voice while you were fixing your hair.
âGod that is embarrassing.â, you groaned into your palm.
âWhy? You used to do that always in college.â, Mingyu said with a frown.
âWe were in college. It was different back then.â, you said and hoped that he understood why.
âAnd sometimes I hope that we never changed.â, he said with a sad smile and before you could answer, the plane was ready to land. The announcement cut you off as Mingyu busied himself in packing his things and you did the same.
He ruffled his hair before fixing it properly and you had to physically control yourself from looking at him. Mingyu was gorgeous and you were falling for it all over again.
The plane landed a few minutes later. You all slowly got down, making sure to take your belongings from the plane. After you all have gathered near the baggage counter, you saw Mingyu shift away from your group and stand beside his girlfriend who seemed to be fuming a bit.
You had no idea what has happened but somewhere you knew that he was clearly asked to distance himself from you. You felt a pit in your stomach as he awkwardly stole glances and then turned around to ignore everyone.
After coming out of the main lobby of the airport, Chan hired three taxis and gave the address of the bungalow which was almost an hour travel. Everyone got into their designated cars, you took the car with Seungkwan and Jeonghan. The cars finally left the airport on the way to Mala Strana.

how seventeen react to their s/o being a passionate gamer
requested by @boybigirlhi ! "gamer" is a broad term but really, this is focused more on mario kart than anything else đ
masterlist
seungcheol, seungkwan
this game is NOT a joke and you need to GET YOUR HEAD STRAIGHT and not just go YELLING like a banshee, okay???? berates you for yelling too loud bc you're messing with his concentration. if you're playing against each other then it definitely works in your favour but if you're on the same side then he'll physically try and hold you down even whilst holding the controller bc he needs you to Sit Still goddamnit otherwise you're gonna lose the game!!!!! still loves that you're really passionate about it tho. discusses strategy with u pre-game and then despairs at how all the strategy goes out the window at the end
jeonghan, joshua, junhui, vernon
just. just thinks that it's really fucking cute tbh :3 watching you bounce about all happily and trash talking the other players with the biggest smile on your face makes him grin so hard because there's something so adorable about your competitive happiness. let's you do whatever you want and will just quirk an eyebrow and smile as you jokingly boo him for how badly he's losing to you rn. and even when you're all riled up and yelling competitively like a maniac he can't help but laugh because sue him, he really is just so in love with everything about you
hoshi, woozi, mingyu
ânonono don't apologise, stay snapped, STAY SNAPPED PLS WE NEED THISâ. he's always unnecessarily invested when playing mario kart, especially when you're playing as a pair against the other members. he would absolutely appreciate you getting all riled up. encourages it, in fact, and will even intentionally goad the other players if it means that he can get you to snap and go all out on them. originally was really surprised by how you'd suddenly just snap and start playing rlly aggressively in mario kart before quickly realising that was a Bonus if you were playing together and did his best to tell you to stay!!!! fucking!!!!! snapped!!!!!Â
wonwoo, minghao, dokyeom, chan
honestly, he gets it, this is the essence of the game. ofc you're gonna be screaming like a maniac. that's what mario kart makes people do, yk?? he literally does not mind at all and just lets you do whatever you want, which leads to the two of you having some of the loudest games known to mankind. wonwoo and minghao just laugh and don't bat an eye. chan doesn't even register your screams. and dokyeom is definitely full-on screaming along with you. hey, it's a fun game, and also definitely a great stress reliever! even if you're both so competitive that every game ends on an argument over whether the winner really did win fair and square,,,,Â

sexting with Mingyu

the one where you accidentally send Mingyu â someone who you do not like â a nude.
â§.* content: smut, sexting, mingyu is an avid emoji user, switch mingyu but more subby at the end (sawrrrry I canât help it), use of pet names (good boy and baby).
â§.* w.c: 2,9k
â§.* note: I wanted to post a quick work to get this blog going while I finish some longer things Iâm working on ⥠hope you like it and Iâm sorry if there are any mistakes
part 2 is posted! find it here
check out my main masterlist âĄ
Your eyes roll when your phone lights up and the text notification pops up.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: donât forget to transfer me the money for Seokminâs bday đ [11:47 pm.]
The idea of Kim Mingyu of all people handling something as important as a birthday surprise for your best friend irks you.
Of course, he was his best friend too. But why on earth did he end up making the plans. And who made you follow his lead. Itâs like torture. You donât want to engage with him in any way.
He was so smug when everyone decided he should be in charge of the surprise party. The decision was between you and him, and you guess people donât really like your style of planning because it was a unanimous vote. Still, you liked not having to stress so much about it, but having to rely on your sworn enemy makes you shrug.
Okay, maybe sworn enemy itâs an exaggeration. You two just donât like each other, and thatâs fine. Not everyone is always going to like you, and youâre okay with that. The problem is when you canât avoid said person because youâre in the same fucking friend group.
You two avoid each other if possible. When the whole group hangs out, you try to stay as far away as you can. Itâs not like you fight with him, but your exchanges are short and dry, often a little harsh, so you try your best to avoid it to not spoil the mood.
After you transfer him the money, you take a screenshot to send him. Itâs not really needed, but you do it just to make sure thereâs proof that you transferred the money.
You open his chat and send the last picture on your camera roll without even looking, trying to be done with him the fastest possible.
You: [Picture.] [11:50 pm.]
Locking your phone, you keep working on the assignment your boss asked you to finish by tomorrow. But it gets cut short because not even five minutes later, Mingyu texts you again. You donât open his chat, but instead, read it through the notification.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: didnât take you as the type to take pics like that 𫣠[11:54 pm.]
You wonder what the hell heâs talking about and why he chose such an annoying emoji.
As you open the chat, your eyes grow wide, and you realize you forgot to check what exactly you were sending Mingyu.
It seems that your screenshot hadnât fully loaded on the gallery, and you accidentally sent him the previous last photo on your camera roll, which was a mirror selfie of you wearing a new pair of underwear you bought today.
Panic starts to creep in on you, but before doing anything stupid, you breathe in and breathe out, calming yourself to think. Mingyuâs still online, which means heâs probably waiting for your answer.
Instead of admitting it was on accident or showing him any weakness, you decide to play with him a little. He likes to annoy you too, so why not do the same.
You: you never know⊠Iâm full of surprises.
You: why wouldnât I take a pic if I look pretty? [11:55 pm]
You donât expect much but his reply comes as soon as you click send.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: surprised I definitely amđ€ canât decide if I like this side of you or not𫹠[11:55 pm.]
You: like I care about your validation [11:56 pm.]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: you should.
You: ?
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: take pics like this I meanđł
Now this is getting interesting.
You: so you think I look pretty? [11:57 pm.]
You wouldnât lie and say him saying things like this doesnât make you a little giddy. Heâs always so dry with you. You definitely prefer this side of him.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: you should send me another one𫣠itâll help me make up my mind.
You ponder on whatâs happening for a solid minute before replying. Is he flirting? Is he teasing you? Will this just be another thing to annoy you in the future?
You: can you stop with those fuckass emojis. [11:58 pm.]
You: Iâm not speaking to you if you keep talking like that.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: what if I say please?
Now that. Is unexpected. At first it seemed like he wanted to annoy you too, but now heâs almost⊠begging? How far is he willing to take it? How willing are you?
You: youâre so annoying.
You: Iâm trying to work.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: all this time we've known each other and Iâve never even seen you in a bikini. [11:59 pm]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: what a waste of time.
You: was it worth the wait?
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: you have no idea.
You: enlighten me then.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: oh I donât think youâre prepared for that.
The conversation is taking a turn youâre not sure if you should take. Exciting you in ways that it shouldnât.
A chat between the two of you never exceeded a few texts. You are both always so eager to end it as soon as possible, so why does he keep replying? Why do you?
You: what do you want Mingyu? [12:00 am]
Your blatant question seems to take him by surprise because he doesnât reply right away.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: me? Youâre the one that sent me a fucking nude at this hour [12:01 am]
Heâs right. Are you embarrassing yourself? Heâs never gonna let you live after this. But youâre not backing down now.
You: I wasnât even naked you pervert [12:02 am]
You: and it didnât seem to matter to you before
You: you liked it didnât you
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: never said I didnât
You: soâŠ
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: what?
You: are you gonna do something about it?
Youâre too curious for your own good. The lines between annoying him and flirting with him are getting more and more blurred every second that passes.
Now itâs your turn to be surprised.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: you canât ask me that [12:03 am]
You: why?
Minutes pass, and you see him typing, then nothing, then typing again. Your room starts to feel hotter, the expectation getting the best of you, and you start to feel a familiar feeling at the base of your stomach.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: you should never send a desperate guy something like that at this hour [12:06 am]
You: are you that desperate?
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: [Picture.]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: does that answer your question?
You stare in awe at your phone for what feels like an hour. His hard dick covered by his white boxers threatening to come out fills your screen. Nothing is left to the imagination.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: cat got your tongue? [12:08 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: [Picture.]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: itâs getting difficult to not touch myself
A second photo fills your screen now. Itâs almost in the same position, except now his hand is covering his bulge, and his red tip is out.
Wetness starts to pool on your underwear, but he doesnât need to know, yet at least.
You: I never pictured you as such a needy guy. [12:10 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: Iâm not ashamed to be who I amđ
You: even with you hands on your pants you manage to send a fucking emoji wow. [12:11 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I can send something else
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: only if you want of course
You straighten yourself, waiting for another photo, but nothing happens. When you move on your seat, you feel just how wet you are. Oh youâre gonna kill him after this.
You: I really hate you you know [12:14 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: arenât you supposed to be working?đš
You: youâre distracting
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: oh so you do want this
You: this? [12:15 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: all you have to do is ask
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: nicely
You: you really gonna make me beg?
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: want me to show you how horny I am?
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: you want me to make you feel good.
You: you could never make me feel good. [12:16 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: oh weâll see about that.
The act youâre putting up wonât last much longer if he keeps up like this. Your right hand creeps down your abdomen. You barely graze your covered cunt, the little relief makes you sigh.
Youâre too lost in the little pleasure and donât realize he sent more texts.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: [voice note] [12:18 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: your turn.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: Iâm dying over here
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: are you touching yourself? [12:19 am]
You: youâre leaving me no choice. [12:20 am]
You decide to play with him a little and send him a âone view onlyâ photo of your hand inside your panties. The same panties as the first photo you sent.
After you reply, you dare to play his voice note. The faint sound of his hand tugging on his erection and his little grunts are nothing compared to the sigh he lets out at the end. You play with your fingers, circling them around your wet entrance.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: youâre so not fair. [12:22 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I bet youâre so wet right now
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I wish you were here so I could touch you properly [12:23 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: my fingers playing with your little cunt like the brat you are
This canât hurt, right? Itâs not like it will happen again, and besides heâs already jerking off to your image. You start circling around your clit, playing with yourself making you squirm.
You: Iâm so wet [12:24 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: did i get you all riled up already?
You: donât flatter yourself
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: tell me.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: show me how wet you are [12:25 am]
You: I could just slide my fingers in
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I said show me
You debate if you should actually send him something. You know heâs trustworthy. Heâs friends with your best friends after all, but this is something far beyond that.
You: should I? [12:26 am]
You: I could just leave you like this
You: get it done by myself
It could be read a threat, but you want to see how he reacts.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: donât be meanâčïž
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I wonât show this to anyone [12:27 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: if that worries you
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I promise
His sudden kindness surprises you a little.
Youâre not sure if you always found Mingyu attractive. Sure heâs really handsome thatâs undeniable. Maybe when you first met, you thought he was really hot, but those feelings died down because your relationship wasnât the best. You had a few fights before you decided it was best for the group to just ignore each other if possible.
This was the first time in years you had a long conversation that didnât end in a fight, and you like it.
You: I'm not the type to do this you know [12:28 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: Iâm not either
You: but I don't want to stop
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: me neither
Knowing he wants this, too, just turns you on more. Heâs not pushing you to do anything, and you guess that if you tell him to stop, he will. But you have to make sure before you do something.
You: just promise me this is between us [12:30 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: you have my wordđ€
You: be serious for one second
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: you can trust me
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: Iâm serious I wonât show or tell anyone
That is enough to calm you for now. You donât think about how this will affect your relationship. Seokminâs birthday is just a few days away, and youâll have to face Mingyu in front of everyone.
But that doesnât bother you now as youâre filming what Mingyu so desperately was asking you to.
You angle your phone to show only your lower body on camera. You start the video circling your entrance, gathering as much arousal as possible. After that, you move your fingers closer to the camera to show how wet they are and then slowly insert two fingers in your hole. You end the video after a little moan escapes your lips
You: for being such a good boy [12:35 am]
You: [video]
You donât stop fingering yourself and close your eyes, imagining itâs Mingyuâs hand and not yours. His thick fingers would stretch you more than yours ever could. A few slow strokes are enough to make you squirm. And you remember to open your eyes and see you got more texts from Mingyu.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: holy fuck [12:37 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: youâre dripping
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I should be there right now
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: show you what my mouth could do
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: could eat you out for hours
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: fuck youâre making me so hard [12:38 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: [picture]
He had taken his boxers off and was now fully naked. His hand could barely wrap around his fully hard dick. The tip is pinkish red and leaking precum already.
You: fuck youâre so big [12:39 am]
You: I donât think it could fit inside me
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: Iâll make it fit
You: how?
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I'd make you cum so much that I'd slide right in
You: are you touching yourself?
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: god how I wish this was you instead of my hand
You close your eyes again. Imagining Mingyu on top of you as you finger yourself harder, as deep as you possibly can. Wet sounds and moans fill your room as you get closer and closer.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: Iâm so close itâs embarrassing [12:41 am]
You: I am too
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: show me?đ„ș
The giggle you let out is almost instantaneous. His emojis are annoyingly cute.
You take a similar video as before, but donât hold back the moans. Your strokes are slow to show on camera how deep youâre getting. The orgasm is so close that you can taste it, but you stop, edging yourself.
You: because you asked so nicely [12:43 am]
You: [video.]
You: now you
You wait a few minutes, stroking you clit lightly to not lose the orgasm but not quickly enough to stimulate much.
The torture doesnât last long because a video appears in your chat along with more texts.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: holy shit [12:44 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: youâre so hot
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: god that should be my hand
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: [video] [12:45 pm]
As soon as you press play youâre welcomed by Mingyuâs delicious moans. His cock is shiny with pre cum all over it, now angry red. He moans at every pump and you feel yourself getting wetter.
Unexpectedly, he also speaks: âIâm so close" his voice is hoarse and deep like youâve never heard before, âI wish this was your hand, shit only imagining makes me almost cum" and finally, âplease⊠tell me I can cum⊠can I cum?â
You never expected the big buff Kim Mingyu to be so needy. It just makes you hornier if thatâs even possible.
You: youâre so needy baby [12:47 am]
You: Iâm close too
You: been edging myself waiting for you
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: shit baby donât say stuff like that [12:48 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: im about to burst
You: want to cum big boy?
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: pleeasee
You: look whoâs begging now
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: donât play with me right now
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: youâre just as desperate as me
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: use three fingers for me and cum baby [12:49 am]
You donât need to be told twice. You press record and insert three fingers into your cunt. Youâre so wet they just slide in and you let out a long moan, increasing your speed at every thrust. Itâs not long until youâre shaking and cumming all over your hand and bed.
But you donât end the video there. You grab your phone and film your face as you suck your fingers clean while staring at the camera lense.
You: [video.] [12:51 am]
You: your turn to cum baby
As you wait for him, you go clean yourself up and grab new sheets for the bed.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: [video] [12:53]
You press play and the sight of his hand is rapidly stoking his hard dick welcomes you, no more than five strokes after the video starts he lets out a long ground and is cumming all over his abs.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: that was [12:54]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: holy shit
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: I never came so fast in my life
You: embarrassingly me neither
The conversations stills for a few minutes, even though it feels like hours. What do you say after sexting with someone you supposedly hate?
You: I guess Iâll see you on saturday [01:03 am]
You're left on read a few more minutes, and you wonder if he already regrets this.
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: yeah right [01:06 am]
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: Iâll send everyone what hour to come by to prepare everything
Kim Mingyuđ€ą: see you then
Itâs so awkward that you donât send anything after.
You donât regret it, but you do fear whatâs going to happen.
Note: sorry if the ending itâs a little sudden, I donât know how to finish this but I do want to write a part two đ

masterlist
sandcastles and sunshine
The summer sun beat down on Gyeongpo Beach, its golden rays dancing across the sparkling water. A five-year-old girl sat alone in the dappled shade of the trees lining the edge of the beach, her small hands meticulously shaping wet sand into what would soon be her masterpiece. Unlike the other kindergarteners running wildly along the shoreline, shrieking with delight as waves chased their tiny feet, she preferred the quiet satisfaction of creation.
Her dark hair was pulled back into two neat pigtails, secured with purple butterfly clips that matched her swimsuit. A light coating of sunscreen protected her nose and cheeks, applied carefully by her mother who sat several meters away on a beach towel, engrossed in conversation with other parents. Not far away, her seven-year-old brother Wonwoo lounged with a picture book, occasionally glancing up to check on his little sister.
"Almost perfect," she murmured to herself, carefully placing a small shell at the top of her castle's tallest tower. She had been working on this sandcastle for nearly an hour, adding intricate details that children her age rarely had the patience for. A moat with a small channel leading to the sea. Windows carved with a plastic spoon. Even a drawbridge made of driftwood she had discovered earlier that morning during her careful exploration of the beach.
She wasn't like most of the other children in her kindergarten class. While they finger-painted with wild abandon and sang loudly during music time, she preferred analyzing picture books and solving puzzles. Her teacher often remarked to her parents that she had "an old soul" â serious, thoughtful, and particular. Today at the beach was no exception; while chaos and excitement reigned around her, she found her joy in solitude and precision.
That is, until a shadow fell across her castle.
"Wow! That's amazing!"
She looked up to see a boy about her age standing over her creation. He was tall for a five-year-old, with bright eyes that seemed to take in everything at once. His swimsuit was bright blue with yellow fish printed all over it, and he was clutching a plastic bucket in one hand.
This was Kim Mingyu. She recognized him from her kindergarten class, though they had never really spoken. Mingyu was everything she was not: loud, perpetually in motion, and surrounded by friends. He was the boy who always volunteered to feed the class hamster, who shared his snacks with everyone, and who inevitably knocked something over at least once a day.
"Thanks," she replied quietly, returning to her work. She hoped the boy would take the hint and leave her to her castle.
Mingyu did not take the hint. Instead, he plopped down in the sand beside her, his long limbs sprawling. "I tried making a castle earlier but the waves kept washing it away. How did you make yours so big?"
She sighed softly. "You have to build it far enough from the water," she explained, not looking up. "And the sand needs to be wet but not too wet."
"Can I help?" Mingyu asked eagerly, already reaching for one of her spare shells.
Before she could answer, Mingyu leaned forward to place the shell on her castle. As he did, his elbow caught on his bucket, sending it tumbling directly onto the castle's main tower. In his haste to catch it, Mingyu lost his balance completely, his gangly body crashing straight through her careful creation.
Time seemed to stop. Where once stood an impressive sandcastle now lay a flattened mound, with Mingyu sprawled across it.
She stared in horror. All her careful work, destroyed in seconds. Her hands began to tremble slightly as she processed what had happened.
Mingyu scrambled to his feet, eyes wide with dismay. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean toâI was just trying toâ" He looked genuinely devastated, his lower lip quivering slightly.
Tears welled in her eyes, but she held them back. She didn't like crying in front of others. Instead, she stared at the ruined castle, her face a mask of quiet disappointment.
Across the beach, Wonwoo had witnessed the entire incident. In an instant, he was on his feet, marching toward them with purpose, his book forgotten on his towel. Wonwoo took his big brother duties very seriously, especially when it came to protecting his introverted sister.
"Hey!" Wonwoo called out, his voice stern as he approached. "What happened here?"
Mingyu looked up at the older boy with genuine alarm. Wonwoo might only be seven, but to a five-year-old, he seemed impossibly tall and intimidating, especially with his serious expression and the colorful band-aid across his nose that somehow made him look tougher.
"IâI knocked over her castle," Mingyu admitted, hanging his head. "It was an accident."
Wonwoo frowned, looking between the flattened sand pile and his sister's crestfallen face. "She worked really hard on that," he said, crossing his arms.
"I know," Mingyu replied, his voice small. Then, with surprising resolution for such a young child, he straightened his shoulders and turned to her. "I'm really, really sorry. I'll help you build it again! I'll make it even better!"
She remained silent, staring at the ruins of her creation. A logical part of her brain knew it was just sand, that eventually the tide would have claimed it anyway. But another part, the part that took pride in her careful work, felt utterly deflated.
Wonwoo's frown deepened. "I don't thinkâ"
"Please," Mingyu interrupted, looking earnestly at her. "I promise I'll be careful. I can get more shells andâand I know where there are some really cool rocks with holes in them! They could be windows orâor cannons!"
Despite herself, she felt a flicker of interest. She had seen those rocks earlier but hadn't been able to reach them.
Wonwoo noticed the slight change in his sister's expression. "Do you want him to help?"
After a long moment, she gave a small nod. "Okay. But you have to follow my instructions," she added firmly to Mingyu.
Mingyu's face broke into a dazzling smile, his entire being seeming to light up with relief and excitement. "I will! I promise! I'll follow all your instructions!"
Wonwoo wasn't entirely convinced. "I'm watching you," he warned Mingyu, pointing two fingers at his eyes and then at the boy. "If you make my sister upset again..."
"I won't!" Mingyu promised earnestly. "Cross my heart!" He made an exaggerated X motion over his chest, almost losing his balance again in the process.
With a final skeptical look, Wonwoo retreated a short distance away, close enough to intervene if needed but far enough to give the children some space.
She surveyed the flattened sand with a critical eye. "We'll need to start over completely," she announced, her practical nature already asserting itself over her disappointment.
"I can get fresh wet sand!" Mingyu offered eagerly, grabbing his bucket. He darted toward the water's edge, his enthusiasm evident in every bouncing step. As he ran, he tripped over his own feet, face-planting briefly in the sand before popping up as if nothing had happened, continuing his mission without missing a beat.
She watched him go with mild trepidation. Mingyu's eagerness to help was admirable, but his execution left something to be desired. Still, she began clearing away the remains of her ruined castle, making space for a new beginning.
Mingyu returned moments later, water sloshing from his overfilled bucket. "I got the wettest sand!" he announced proudly, tripping slightly as he approached.
Her eyes widened in alarm as the bucket tilted precariously. "Careful!" she warned.
To her surprise, Mingyu recovered his balance with unexpected grace. He set the bucket down gently beside her. "I almost spilled it," he acknowledged with a sheepish grin. "But I didn't! See? I'm being super careful now." He demonstrated his seriousness by sitting down very slowly and deliberately next to her, his tongue poking out between his teeth in concentration.
She nodded approvingly. "We need to make a good base first," she instructed, beginning to spread the wet sand into a large circle. "It has to be really strong to hold everything else."
Mingyu watched her work with admiration. "You know a lot about sandcastles," he observed.
"My brother taught me," she replied, glancing over at Wonwoo, who was pretending to read his book while clearly keeping an eye on them. "He says you have to have a good foundation for anything important."
"That's smart," Mingyu nodded seriously, as if absorbing a profound philosophical concept. Then, with characteristic Mingyu enthusiasm, he added, "I'm going to get those special rocks now! Don't build too much without me!"
Before she could respond, he was off again, sprinting down the beach toward a collection of tide pools in the distance. As he ran, his arms windmilled wildly, and he let out a gleeful "Woohoo!" that turned several heads.
She shook her head slightly, but there was the faintest hint of amusement in her expression now.
đâïœĄËââ đđ«§đŒ ˰
From their spot under a large beach umbrella about thirty meters away, two sets of parents watched the scene unfold with interest.
"Isn't that Mingyu?" asked a woman in a floral sun hat, nudging her husband.
The man squinted against the sunlight. "Yes, that's him. Oh dear, looks like he knocked over someone's sandcastle." He winced slightly. "That boy and his limbs... he's all knees and elbows these days."
"Who's the little girl?" asked the woman, adjusting her sunglasses. "She seems quite serious for her age."
"That's my daughter," the woman nearby replied "And my son Wonwoo just went over to check on them. He's very protective."
The adults watched as Wonwoo appeared to mediate the situation before retreating to a watchful distance.
"Your daughter doesn't seem too upset now," observed Mingyu's mother. "That's a relief. Mingyu means well, but sometimes his enthusiasm gets the better of him."
"She usually plays alone," her mother replied with a slight smile. "She finds most children too... unpredictable."
"And Mingyu is nothing if not unpredictable," laughed his father. "Look at him go!" They all watched as Mingyu sprinted down the beach, fell, bounced back up, and continued running.
"Should we intervene?" asked the girl's father, half rising from his beach chair.
His wife placed a gentle hand on his arm. "Let's give them a chance. Look, Wonwoo is keeping an eye on them, and she actually seems... interested."
The four adults shared knowing glances.
"First day at the beach together and they're already building sandcastles," Mingyu's mother mused with a smile. "Who knows? Could be the start of a beautiful friendship."
They settled back to watch their children from afar, occasionally exchanging amused comments as Mingyu's antics continued and the little girl began to emerge from her shell.
đâïœĄËââ đđ«§đŒ ˰
As she worked on the castle's foundation, she found herself constantly glancing up to track Mingyu's progress along the beach. He moved with boundless energy, occasionally stopping to examine something interesting before remembering his mission and dashing off again. There was something fascinating about his uninhibited enthusiasm that contrasted sharply with her own measured approach to life.
Mingyu returned triumphantly with his t-shirt transformed into a makeshift pouch, filled with an assortment of small, holey rocks, unusually shaped shells, and even a piece of smooth sea glass. "Look what I found!" he exclaimed, carefully emptying his treasures onto the sand beside her.
She examined his collection with genuine interest. Some of the items were truly unique, perfect for decorating their castle. "These are good," she admitted, selecting a particularly interesting spiral shell.
Mingyu beamed at the compliment. "I picked the best ones just for your castle!"
"Our castle," she corrected quietly, surprising herself. She wasn't usually one for collaborative projects, preferring to work alone where she could control every detail. But something about Mingyu's earnest desire to make amends touched her.
If possible, Mingyu's smile grew even wider. "Our castle," he repeated reverently. "It's going to be the best castle on the whole beach!"
For the next several minutes, the unlikely pair worked side by side. She directed the overall design, explaining to Mingyu the importance of packing the sand just right and creating supports for the taller structures. Mingyu, for his part, followed her instructions with unusual concentration for a child typically so easily distracted. When not carrying out her precise directions, he added his own creative touches â a small collection of pebbles arranged to look like people in the castle courtyard, a moat decorated with colorful shells.
"That's the king," he explained, pointing to a particularly round stone. "And that one with the pink shell is the princess. She's really smart, like you."
She felt her cheeks warm slightly at the comparison. "Princesses in real castles probably weren't very smart," she countered logically. "They didn't get to go to school like we do."
Mingyu considered this with surprising seriousness. "Then she's not a regular princess," he decided. "She's a science princess who invents things and reads lots of books."
Despite herself, she smiled. "A science princess is better," she agreed.
A butterfly fluttered past, and Mingyu gasped in delight. "Look!" he whispered loudly, pointing at the delicate creature. "It's coming to visit our castle!"
The butterfly, a vibrant blue, danced on the air currents before landing briefly on one of their castle towers. Both children held their breath, watching in wonder. After a moment, it fluttered away.
"The castle is so good even butterflies want to live there," Mingyu declared with absolute conviction, his eyes wide with wonder.
She couldn't help but giggle at his enthusiasm. "Butterflies don't live in castles," she corrected gently.
"This one wanted to," Mingyu insisted. "It was just checking if its room was ready."
From his watchful position several meters away, Wonwoo observed the developing friendship with growing interest. He had been prepared to step in at the first sign that this clumsy boy was upsetting his sister again. Instead, he was witnessing something rare â his sister actually enjoying another child's company. Wonwoo knew better than anyone how selective his sister was about her companions. Most children found her too serious, too particular, while she found them too loud and chaotic.
Yet somehow, this enthusiastic, accident-prone boy had broken through her careful reserve. Wonwoo found himself relaxing his guard slightly, though he continued to keep a watchful eye.
As their castle grew more elaborate, so did the imaginary stories Mingyu began spinning about it. The science princess was now joined by a knight who was very strong but sometimes tripped over his sword (Wonwoo strongly suspected this character was based on Mingyu himself). There were dragons that weren't scary but instead helped the castle inhabitants by flying them to different places and keeping the castle warm in winter with their gentle fire breath.
She, usually not one for imaginative play, found herself contributing to the narrative. "The princess would need a laboratory," she pointed out, carefully crafting a small subsidiary structure with her plastic spoon. "For her experiments."
"And a library!" Mingyu added enthusiastically. "With ALL the books in the world!"
"That would be too heavy for a sand castle," she replied practically, but then added, "Maybe just the most important books."
"Like dinosaur books!" Mingyu suggested, bouncing slightly in place.
"And space books," she nodded. "And books about animals."
"And books about robots that can turn into cars!" Mingyu added, making transforming noises and gestures that nearly knocked over a small tower. He froze mid-motion, eyes wide with alarm, but the tower remained intact. Both children let out relieved sighs.
At one point, Mingyu decided that their moat needed water and ran to the sea with his bucket. On his return journey, sloshing water from the overfilled container with each step, he spotted a small crab scuttling across his path. His delighted shriek was so loud that several nearby beachgoers turned to look. He dropped to his knees, water splashing everywhere, to watch the creature's sideways dash.
"Come look!" he called excitedly to her. "There's a tiny crab! He could be the castle guard!"
Curious despite herself, she walked over to see. The crab was indeed tiny, its shell barely larger than a coin. It waved its miniature pincers defensively as the two children observed it.
"He's so brave," Mingyu whispered in awe. "He's not scared of us even though we're giants to him."
"He's scared," she corrected matter-of-factly. "That's why his claws are up. We should leave him alone."
"Oh." Mingyu looked disappointed but nodded in understanding. "Bye, Mr. Crab," he said solemnly. "Sorry we scared you. Your castle is that way." He pointed helpfully in the direction the crab had been heading.
She found herself fighting back another smile at this earnest farewell to a creature that couldn't possibly understand him. There was something oddly endearing about Mingyu's willingness to speak to anything and everything with the same friendly openness.
When they returned to their castle, Mingyu remembered his original mission and carefully poured water into the moat they had constructed around the perimeter. His brow furrowed in concentration as he tried to keep his usually uncooperative hands steady.
"Slow down," she instructed, seeing that he was about to overflow one section. "You need to give the sand time to absorb the water."
Mingyu immediately slowed his pouring to an exaggerated trickle, his tongue caught between his teeth in concentration. "Like this?" he asked without looking up, his entire being focused on the task.
"Yes," she confirmed, impressed by his ability to follow precise instructions when properly motivated. "That's perfect."
The praise made Mingyu beam so brightly it was almost as if he'd lit up from within. His smile was infectious, causing a matching one to spread across her own usually serious face.
At one point, disaster nearly struck again when a beach ball bounced dangerously close to their creation. Mingyu, showing surprising reflexes, lunged to intercept it before it could damage the castle. He tumbled into the sand, well clear of their masterpiece, clutching the offensive ball triumphantly.
"Nice save!" called a voice from down the beach. A group of older children approached, the apparent owners of the runaway ball.
Mingyu returned the ball with a friendly smile. "You have to be careful," he explained earnestly. "We built a castle and it's really special."
The older children might have laughed at being lectured by a kindergartener, but something in Mingyu's sincere delivery made them take notice. They came closer to examine the increasingly impressive structure.
"Whoa," one of them said, genuinely impressed. "That's actually really cool."
"My friend designed it," Mingyu announced proudly, pointing to her, who immediately shrank back from the attention. "She's super smart and knows all about how to make the sand stay together."
She blinked in surprise. Not only had Mingyu called her his friend (a presumption she might normally have corrected), but he was giving her credit for their creation, despite his own significant contributions.
The older children nodded appreciatively at the castle. "Nice work, kid," one of them said to her. "That's way better than the ones we used to make."
As the group moved on, Mingyu flopped down beside her, sending a small spray of sand into the air. He brushed his unruly hair out of his eyes, leaving a streak of wet sand across his forehead that he didn't seem to notice.
"Are you hungry?" he asked suddenly. "I'm starving. Building castles makes me super hungry."
As if on cue, his stomach growled loudly enough for her to hear. She giggled at the perfect timing.
"I have snacks," she offered, surprising herself with the willingness to share. "My mom packed too many."
"Really?" Mingyu's eyes widened hopefully. "I love snacks! All kinds!"
She stood up and made her way back to her family's spot, where her mother had laid out a colorful beach blanket under a large umbrella. "Can I have some snacks?" she asked. "For me and... my friend."
Her mother raised an eyebrow at the word "friend" but smiled warmly. "Of course, sweetheart." She opened a cooler bag and pulled out two juice boxes and a container of cut fruit. "Here you go. Why don't you invite your friend to sit in the shade for a while? You've been in the sun for quite a long time."
She nodded and carefully carried the snacks back to their castle, where Mingyu was adding a small collection of tiny shells to the entrance. He looked up when she approached, his face lighting up at the sight of the snacks.
"Wow! Thank you!" he exclaimed, accepting the juice box she held out to him. He struggled momentarily with the straw before finally managing to punch it through the foil hole, nearly squirting juice up his nose in the process. "Mmmmm," he hummed happily after taking a long drink.
She sat down carefully next to him, opening the container of watermelon, strawberries, and grapes. "We can share," she said, placing it between them.
Mingyu reached for a piece of watermelon, then paused, his hand hovering over the container. "My hands are sandy," he realized, looking down at his gritty palms.
"Mine too," she replied, showing him her own sand-covered hands.
They looked at each other for a moment before Mingyu burst into giggles. "We're too dirty for your mom's nice fruit!"
She found herself giggling along with him. "We need to wash our hands first."
"Race you to the water!" Mingyu declared, already scrambling to his feet.
"Wait!" she called, but he was already running toward the shoreline, arms flailing wildly as he went. With a small sigh and a shake of her head that belied the smile tugging at her lips, she followed at a more dignified pace.
At the water's edge, Mingyu splashed enthusiastically, sending droplets flying in all directions as he attempted to clean his hands. She approached more cautiously, dipping her hands into the cool water and rubbing them together carefully to remove all traces of sand.
"Look out for waves!" Mingyu warned, just as a slightly larger swell approached. The water surged around their ankles, and Mingyu lost his balance, sitting down hard in the shallow surf with a splash and a shocked expression that quickly turned to delight. "Come on in!" he called, now deliberately splashing water in her direction. "It feels amazing!"
She hesitated, naturally cautious and not dressed for swimming. But the cool water did look inviting after their time in the hot sun, and Mingyu's joy was somehow contagious. Carefully, she sat down at the water's edge, allowing the gentle waves to wash over her legs.
"Isn't it the best?" Mingyu asked, flopping onto his back so that the next small wave washed over his entire body except his face. He sat up sputtering and grinning. "The ocean gives the best hugs!"
"The ocean can't hug," she corrected automatically, but she had to admit the cool water felt wonderful against her sun-warmed skin.
"Sure it can!" Mingyu insisted. "It's hugging us right now!" He made an exaggerated hugging motion with his arms just as another wave rolled in, knocking him sideways.
She couldn't hold back her laughter at his antics. It seemed that everything Mingyu did was slightly exaggerated, slightly too big for his body to properly control, and yet there was something genuinely charming about his lack of self-consciousness.
After cooling off in the water, they returned to their castle to find Wonwoo standing guard beside it, arms crossed as he warned away a curious toddler who had wandered too close.
"Thanks for protecting it," she said to her brother, genuinely grateful.
Wonwoo nodded seriously. "No problem. It's a really good castle. Worth protecting."
Mingyu beamed at this praise from the older boy. "We made it together! She's the boss and I'm the helper and we make a great team!"
Wonwoo's mouth twitched in what might have been the beginning of a smile. "Looks like it," he agreed. He glanced at his watch. "Mom says we'll be leaving in about an hour, just so you know."
She nodded, accepting this information with her usual practicality. Beside her, Mingyu's face fell slightly at the reminder that their day at the beach â and their castle-building adventure â would eventually come to an end.
"We should finish the decorations," she suggested, noticing his sudden drop in enthusiasm. "So it's completely perfect before we have to go."
Mingyu immediately brightened. "Yes! And we need a flag! Every amazing castle needs a flag."
"We don't have a flag," she pointed out practically.
"I can make one!" Mingyu announced. He rummaged through their pile of collected items before looking around more widely. His face lit up as he spotted something in the distance. "Be right back!"
Before she could question him, he was off again, racing across the sand toward a small refreshment stand at the edge of the beach. She watched with curiosity as he appeared to be speaking animatedly with the vendor, his entire body involved in whatever he was explaining as his arms waved enthusiastically. A few moments later, he returned triumphantly, clutching a wooden popsicle stick and what appeared to be a napkin.
"See?" he proclaimed proudly. "The nice lady gave me these for free when I told her about our amazing castle!"
With careful concentration that belied his typically energetic movements, Mingyu folded the napkin into a rough triangle and secured it to the popsicle stick. He then gently pushed the makeshift flag into the highest tower of their castle.
"Perfect!" he declared, stepping back to admire the effect. "Now everyone will know this is the kingdom of Princess..." he paused, turning to her with a questioning look. "What's your name for the princess?"
She considered this for a moment. "The Science Princess," she decided firmly.
"Right! The kingdom of the Science Princess and Knight Mingyu!" he declared, puffing out his chest proudly.
"Of Helping and Adventures," she added, remembering his earlier title.
Mingyu looked at her with such joy and surprise that she couldn't help but smile back. The fact that she had remembered and valued his contribution seemed to mean the world to him.
"And protector Wonwoo," she added, glancing at her brother who was pretending not to listen from his position nearby.
Wonwoo rolled his eyes but couldn't quite hide his pleased expression.
As the afternoon wore on, Mingyu and she continued to add details to their castle and elaborate on the stories of its inhabitants. They worked with a synchronicity that belied their contrasting personalities â her methodical precision complementing Mingyu's creative enthusiasm. When Mingyu's attention occasionally wandered, she gently redirected him to the task at hand. When she became too focused on perfecting one small detail, Mingyu's spontaneity would move them forward to the next exciting addition.
"My mom says I have too much energy," Mingyu confided as they worked on the castle's outer wall. "My teacher says the same thing. She makes me sit on a special cushion that's supposed to help me wiggle less, but it doesn't really work." He demonstrated by wiggling his entire body, nearly knocking over a small turret in the process.
She considered this as she carefully smoothed a rampart. "My mom says I think too much," she replied. "And my teacher wants me to play more at recess instead of reading."
Mingyu beamed at her. "We could play together at recess! I could show you the best games, and you could tell me about your books!"
The offer was made with such genuine enthusiasm that she couldn't bring herself to point out that they had been in the same class all year without interacting. Instead, she nodded slightly. "Maybe," she allowed.
"We could build a castle in the sandbox!" Mingyu continued excitedly. "Not as good as this one, but still super cool! And we could get others to help, like Seungcheol and Jeonghan and Joshua!"
As if summoned by the mention of their names, three boys from their kindergarten class approached â Seungcheol, Jeonghan, and Joshua, three friends who were always together. They stopped several feet away, clearly admiring the castle but hesitant to come closer.
"Wow, Mingyu, did you build that?" Seungcheol asked, his eyes wide with admiration.
Mingyu sat up straighter, sand clinging to his knees and elbows. "Me and her built it together," he corrected, gesturing toward her. "She's really good at designing things."
The three boys looked at her with newfound respect. She was known in their class as the quiet girl who always finished her work first and rarely joined in group activities.
"Can we look at it closer?" Joshua asked politely.
Mingyu looked to her, deferring to her decision â another gesture that surprised her. Usually, other children simply did what they wanted without considering her wishes.
After a moment's consideration, she nodded. "You can look, but don't touch," she instructed firmly. "Some parts are still drying."
The boys approached carefully, circling the impressive structure with obvious admiration. "What's this part?" Jeonghan asked, pointing to a small depression in the central courtyard.
"That's the science garden," Mingyu explained importantly. "It's where the Science Princess grows special plants for her experiments. And over there," he pointed to another section, "is where Knight Mingyu trains the dragons to be gentle and helpful."
"There are dragons?" Seungcheol's eyes widened with excitement.
"Friendly ones," she clarified, surprising herself by joining the imaginative conversation. "They help protect the castle."
"That's so cool," Joshua breathed, clearly impressed.
What followed was an impromptu storytelling session, with Mingyu enthusiastically describing the castle's various inhabitants and their adventures, occasionally looking to her for confirmation or additional details. To everyone's surprise, including her own, she began to contribute more and more to the narrative, explaining how the science princess had developed special sand that couldn't be washed away by the tide and windows made of sea glass that could capture sunlight to power the castle.
The three boys listened with rapt attention, occasionally offering suggestions that Mingyu enthusiastically incorporated while she evaluated their logical consistency. Wonwoo, watching from his position nearby, couldn't quite believe what he was seeing â his introverted sister actively participating in imaginative play with a group of children.
In the distance, the parents continued their observation.
"Would you look at that," murmured the girl's mother in amazement. "She's actually playing with a group of children. Voluntarily."
"And Mingyu hasn't knocked anything over in at least twenty minutes," added his father with equal wonder. "That might be a new record."
"They seem to balance each other out," observed the girl's father thoughtfully. "He brings energy, she brings focus."
"Like little yin and yang," Mingyu's mother smiled. "It's adorable."
The parents watched as the children excitedly talked about their creation, gesturing and pointing to different parts of the elaborate sand structure.
"We should probably think about heading home soon," said the girl's mother, checking her watch. "It's getting late, and she'll need a bath to wash off all that sand."
"Same for Mingyu," agreed his mother. "Though I suspect he'll put up quite a fight. He seems to be having the time of his life."
The girl's father nodded. "Let's give them a few more minutes. It's not every day you see your child make a new friend."
Eventually, the three visitors were called away by their parents, leaving Mingyu and her once again alone with their creation. The sun was beginning to lower in the sky, casting longer shadows across the beach.
"My mom will probably say we have to go home soon," Mingyu said with a note of sadness, looking at their castle. "It's too bad we can't take it with us."
She nodded, feeling a similar sense of regret. In her logical mind, she had always known the castle was temporary â subject to the tide, the weather, other beachgoers. But after investing so much time and creativity into it, the inevitable loss felt more significant.
"We could take a picture," she suggested practically. "My brother has a camera on his phone."
Mingyu's face lit up. "That's a great idea! Then we'll always remember Castle Science-Dragon!"
"Is that what we're calling it?" she asked with a small smile.
"Unless you have a better name," Mingyu offered generously.
She thought for a moment. "Castle Science-Dragon works," she decided, appreciating the way it incorporated both their contributions.
At that moment, Wonwoo approached, having sensed the changing mood. "Mom says we need to start packing up soon," he informed his sister. He glanced at the castle, genuine admiration in his expression. "That turned out really impressive."
"Can you take a picture of it?" she asked, surprising her brother with the request. "Before we have to leave?"
Wonwoo smiled slightly. "Sure." He pulled out his phone and began framing the shot.
"Wait!" Mingyu exclaimed. "We should be in the picture too! With our castle!"
Wonwoo looked to his sister, expecting her to decline. She rarely wanted to be in photographs, generally preferring to observe from behind the camera rather than be captured in the moment.
To his surprise, she gave a small nod. "Okay," she agreed quietly.
Mingyu's face lit up with delight. "We should sit right behind it! Like we're the castle guards!"
She considered this for a moment before offering an alternative. "Maybe we could sit on either side? So people can still see the whole castle."
"That's even better!" Mingyu agreed enthusiastically. "You're so smart!"
She felt her cheeks warm at the compliment as they positioned themselves on opposite sides of their creation. Mingyu settled on the left, crossing his legs and placing his hands on his knees in an attempt to stay perfectly stillâa nearly impossible feat for him. She knelt carefully on the right, smoothing her purple swimsuit and sitting with her natural poise.
"Say 'Castle Science-Dragon'!" Wonwoo instructed, holding up his phone.
"CASTLE SCIENCE-DRAGON!" Mingyu shouted with such enthusiasm that several nearby beachgoers turned to look. Meanwhile, she offered a small but genuine smileâthe kind that rarely appeared in photographs.
Wonwoo took several pictures, making sure to capture the castle from different angles. "These look good," he said, showing them the results.
In the photos, their creation stood proudly between themâan impressive structure of towers, walls, and carefully placed decorations. But what struck Wonwoo most was the expression on his sister's face. She looked... happy. Relaxed in a way he rarely saw her around other children.
"Can I get a copy?" Mingyu asked eagerly. "I want to show my mom and dad!"
"I'm sure our parents can share it," she replied practically.
"Cool!" Mingyu beamed at her, sand still streaked across his forehead and cheeks. "This is the best day at the beach!"
From across the beach, both sets of parents began making their way toward the children, carrying beach bags and folded towels.
"Looks like it's time to go," Wonwoo observed, tucking his phone into his pocket.
Mingyu's smile faltered as he looked at their castle. "I wish we could stay with it forever."
She understood the feeling completely, but her practical nature prevailed. "The tide will come in anyway," she pointed out gently. "All sandcastles get washed away eventually."
Rather than being upset by this fact, Mingyu seemed to consider it thoughtfully. "Then we made the best castle it could be for today," he decided with surprising wisdom. "And now it gets to go on an ocean adventure!"
She hadn't thought of it that way. The idea of their creation being carried out to sea, becoming part of something larger rather than simply being destroyed, was strangely comforting. "Maybe the sand will reach another beach someday," she mused.
"And other kids might use it for their castles!" Mingyu added excitedly. "Our castle could become part of castles all over the world!"
She smiled at the thought as their parents arrived, exchanging knowing glances at the elaborate castle and the two children sitting proudly beside it.
"Time to pack up, sweetheart," her mother said gently. "Did you have fun today?"
She looked at the castle, then at Mingyu's sand-covered, beaming face. "Yes," she answered simply but sincerely.
"Mom! Dad! Look what we built!" Mingyu jumped to his feet, nearly tripping in his excitement as he grabbed his father's hand to pull him closer to the castle. "It's called Castle Science-Dragon and it has a princess who does experiments and friendly dragons and knights and a moat and everything!"
Mingyu's parents expressed appropriate amazement at the creation, asking questions that Mingyu answered with his characteristic enthusiasm while she occasionally corrected his more fantastical claims with quiet factual amendments.
As the adults looked on, Mingyu's mother turned to the girl's parents with a warm smile. "We should get together again soon. The children seem to get along well, and it's been nice chatting with you both today."
"Absolutely," her father agreed, glancing down at his daughter with pleased surprise. "We're just a few blocks away from each other. Maybe dinner this weekend?"
"Perfect," Mingyu's father nodded. "We can exchange information before we leave."
She listened to this adult conversation with careful attention, noting how the afternoon had produced not just her unexpected friendship with Mingyu, but connections between their parents as well. There was something satisfying about this symmetry.
As they began gathering their belongings, Mingyu suddenly stopped and looked at her with wide eyes. "Wait! I just realized we're going to be in the same class again after summer! We can sit together and build stuff during free time!"
"Maybe," she replied, which was as close to enthusiasm as she typically showed. Coming from her, it was practically a promise.
"I'll save you a spot at my table," he declared with absolute certainty. "It's by the window, so we can look outside when we're thinking up ideas."
She nodded, secretly pleased at the thought. She'd always wanted the window seat but had been too shy to claim it at the beginning of the year.
Before they parted ways, Mingyu took one last look at their castle. "Goodbye, Castle Science-Dragon! Have fun on your ocean adventure!"
Then, to her surprise, he gave her a quick wave that turned into an exaggerated bow. "Thank you for building with me today! You're the best castle architect ever!"
She felt her lips curve into a small smile. "You were a good helper," she acknowledged, which made his face light up as if she'd given him the highest praise imaginable.
"Ready to go?" her father asked gently, offering his hand.
She nodded, taking her father's hand while glancing back one last time at Castle Science-Dragon. The late afternoon sun cast long shadows from its towers across the sand, and the little napkin flag fluttered in the breeze.
As they walked to the car, Wonwoo bumped his shoulder lightly against hers. "So... Mingyu seems nice," he said casually.
"He's very loud," she replied. Then, after a thoughtful pause, she added, "But he's also very kind."
"And he listens to you," Wonwoo noted with slight surprise. "Most kids don't."
"He does," she agreed, this observation striking her as important somehow.
In the background, she could hear the adults exchanging phone numbers and making plans, their voices carrying the warm tones of new friendship. Her mother laughed at something Mingyu's father said, a genuine laugh she usually reserved for close friends.
As they drove home, the beach receding in the distance, she found herself thinking about the sand castle, about Mingyu, and about the unexpected connections formed during a single afternoon at the beach. Practical as always, she reached into her small beach bag and pulled out her notebook, carefully opening it to a fresh page.
"What are you writing?" Wonwoo asked, leaning over to see.
"Ideas," she replied simply, "for the next castle."
Her mother and father exchanged glances in the front seat, smiling at each other over their daughter's bent head. Like the little sandcastle on the beach, something new had been built todayâsomething that might, with care and attention, last much longer than a summer afternoon.

#SeungcheolÂ
He is very supportive of your career and is proud of your accomplishments. He's clearing out his schedules to attend premieres, to silently cheer you on, and is not afraid to publicly express his admiration for your talent. Would casually appear during your shootings with your favorite flowers and snacks for everyone. "Babe! Aren't you supposed to be on the other side of the country?" "No, I'm supposed to be wherever you are."
#JeonghanÂ
Oh boy! he's taking tips, no jokes. He's got his notepad out and is ready to jot down directions and suggestions. He is ready to polish his acting skills which will come in helpful when bluffing others during the mafia game. Bonus: he shares the prizes he wins from "Going Seventeen Mafia Games" with you. "Hannie that's the third Dyson air wrap you've won this year!"
#JoshuaÂ
Your supportive lil' boy. He helps you practice your lines and gives valuable advice. Everything flows smoothly until you reach a scene involving a kiss. joshua.exe has stopped functioning. He's momentarily frozen, and you can't help but wonder if he's even breathing. He had anticipated a kiss scene cuz you were the main lead, but it still bothered him a little to see you kiss someone else who is not him. But he's definitely not insecure or anything, just a peculiar sensation. And for the cure, just kiss the living daylights out of him so hard that he forgets the world except for you.
#JunhuiÂ
Well....he's an actor himself, so it's quite obvious that he's exceptionally proud of you. He's shamelessly promoting your movie/drama every chance he gets. Dedicates an entire Weibo live suggesting your movies and dramas to carats while explaining the plot in great detail. "You know The Dreamcatcher's plot twist caught me so hard that I almost fell off my seat"
#Hoshi
He wants to accompany you everywhere â to set, to your trailer as you practice your lines, to premieres and other events. He adores the world you live in and wishes to learn more about it. He tried out acting(a period drama) and continued talking in that manner for days. "What an interesting food this is, 'twixt two buns lies a delicacy that-" "It's just a burger calm down."
#WonwooÂ
He would be so proud of you. He'll be your silent cheerleader. When the two of you are alone, he will lavishly compliment your acting and take you out to a lovely meal to celebrate the premiere. So, while it may not appear to others that he makes a big deal out of it, you'll know how proud he is.
#Woozi
Please DO NOT bring him to events â Woozi almost blends in with the numerous cameramen and women, his own phone in hand as he photographs picture after picture of you as you go into the premiere of your new film â he's a very proud boyfriend, after all. "Look here! babe. Damn you look so good"
#Seokmin
He is gonna hype you up so much omg. He like, Jun, wonât hesitate to promote your movie every chance he gets. His darling is building a name for themselves, and he'll be damned if he doesn't do everything he can to help them. He's always bugging Carats to go see the latest movie. Whenever you watch the movie alone, he will be more sincere and serious in his compliments. "No problem, carats! If you've already seen the film, you should go watch it two more times."
#Mingyu
He'd be captivated by your performance and would shove his face very close to the screen every time you appeared. And, while he may not shamelessly promote you as some of the other members do, he will certainly speak highly of you and your acting abilities to everyone he knows. That's all he talks about when he's out with his '97 liner buddies. Literally. "Y/n had to act like they had not found the killer while sitting right beside them. They are so cool!"
#MinghaoÂ
Minghao is buying the CD regardless of whether he could simply ask you for a copy of the movie you're in or even if he's seen it hundreds of times. He is one of your biggest fans; he owns all of your movies, has seen all of your shows, and knows all of your interviews by heart. "Are you watching y/nâs movies again? Arenât you tired?" "Fuck off"
#Seungkwan
He actually got to know you during an event promoting your latest drama. He's your biggest fanboy, watching every drama/movie you've ever starred in, and bombarding you with compliments. Winces slightly whenever he sees you kiss a fellow actor on screen. "So your type is Song Jung" "Come on!! Stop sulking, we filmed that 6 years ago"Â
#Vernon
Leaves 15-line reviews on your movies complimenting your acting skills. He is always pulling out your movies during movie night and doesn't understand why wouldn't wanna watch your own movie for the nth time again. "Babe, we have watched Wandering Dreams more than 20 times" "So, do you wanna watch 'Written in Sand'?" *dies* Bonus: All the movies you've starred in receive an obvious 5-star rating.
#Chan
He'd be so freaking excited! It wouldn't be strange to spend endless nights practicing your lines with him. Coffee would be essential for those nights, as the caffeine would keep you up as you practiced. And whenever someone pointed out how much the critics praised you, he'd say, "Yeah, of course, my love did amazing." It's as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
BONUS:: Sends coffee trucks to the set during shooting: Minghao, Seungkwan, Jeonghan, Joshua âĄ

You had been in many precarious positions with Kim Mingyu. He was one of your closest friends, the two of you having been friends for as long as you could remember. He was there when you tripped and fell in front of your first crush in elementary school, and you were there when he tried to do a backflip and broke his wrist in junior high. You'd seen enough embarrassing moments from him to think of him as anything more than your partner in crime. You understood, objectively speaking, that he was attractive. He'd always been tall, and he was incredibly charming in his own goofy way. But having people be jealous of you for being so close with him had never made any sense.
It got worse the older you got. Into college when Mingyu started really growing into himself, when he started opening up his social circle and meeting so many people that practically everyone knew him. He had gym friends, and class friends, and then he rushed a frat and it was insane how much harder it was to spend one on one time with your best friend.
But you weren't a jealous person, and you knew perfectly well that nobody was going to take your place in Mingyu's life. You joked that nobody would understand him the way that you did unless they'd waxed his legs like you had. He said that it didn't matter if they'd done that, they'd never compare to you. You ignored the way it made your heart jump in your chest.
Now that the both of you were out of college, chasing your own separate careers and living on opposite ends of the city, it was hard to find time for the two of you. Your past weekly lunches turned into weekend facetime calls between morning workouts and nights out with your respective friend groups. The best nights, however, were the ones where you crashed at his house instead of your own, weekends where your schedules cleared up enough for you to make plans. And the sleepovers were never planned, just game nights that stretched into movie nights, which stretched into late night conversations, and eventually falling asleep on his bed and waking up to the smell of him making breakfast.
You were in the midst of one of those nights now, the two of you curled on the couch after playing video games for a while. That was cut short by Mingyu pouting at you and claiming your winning streak had to be some sort of cheating. Now you were sitting opposite him on the couch, the bowl of popcorn he'd made for the both of you sitting in your lap. He reached over, and you stretched your arm away from him, effortlessly hoarding the popcorn. He let out a whine of your name, the pout evident in his voice, but you just grinned and giggled. He gave up, and you settled the bowl back down in your lap, tossing a couple pieces into your mouth.
After a few moments, when he thought you were thoroughly distracted, he tried to reach for the popcorn again. But just when he thought he had it, you held it out of his reach again, sending him a playful glare.
"Snack stealer," He huffed out. You stuck your tongue out at him.
"Should have brought more snacks if you wanted to share." You teased him. He stared at you for a moment, only looking away to eye the bowl of popcorn that he so desperately wanted. Then he was lunging towards you, and you let out a startled screech, scrambling backwards to keep from getting completely trapped under his upper body. He grabbed your leg, using it to pull you closer to him, and another startled noise slipped out of you as he tugged until you were almost completely laying down on the couch.
Even with him clearly having the upper hand, you refused to give up so easily. You pushed your knee against his side, mostly as a distraction as you managed to wiggle out from under him, getting to your feet and hugging the popcorn bowl to your chest as you searched for the best escape route. Your best bet was his room, but that was so far away and there was a pile of blankets on the floor in your way from the fort you never ended up making.
Before you could come up with any sort of decent plan, Mingyu was grabbing your bicep in a large hand, pulling you back and easily manhandling you around, pushing you firmly onto the couch and snatching the bowl from your hands. You whined when your back hit the soft cushions of the couch. It was a high pitched, pathetic sound, very much reminiscent of the spark that zipped through your stomach and burned between your thighs.
Oh. That was new. You squirmed, pressing your thighs together to try and ease the pulse that had picked up in your core. You'd never thought about how strong Mingyu was. I mean sure, he carried the groceries for you and he worked out regularly, and sure you'd noticed in passing how bulky he'd gotten over the past couple of years, but it hadn't really sunk in just how thick he was now. His thighs, his biceps. Hell, you were pretty sure his tits were going to be bigger than yours one day.
"Earth to Y/N," A voice finally broke through the not so innocent thoughts that were backing up your brain, and you looked up at him, eyes wide and dark and looking every bit like a deer in the headlights. Mingyu gave you a baffled look, tossing some popcorn up and catching it in his mouth. You eyed the expanse of his neck, the way his jaw flexed as he chewed, the bob of his adam's apple as he swallowed. Holy fucking shit. Maybe now you finally understood what the big deal was. Mingyu was a wet dream. "Why are you staring at me like that? Did I hurt you?"
There was something about the genuine concern in his voice that messed with your head. And in messing with your head, it apparently fucked up the brain to mouth filter in your mind.
"You're just so fucking hot," You blurted out. Immediately after, your hand slapped over your mouth and you squeezed your eyes shut. If you couldn't see him, then he couldn't see you and the absolutely mortified look on your face. Now how the hell had you, after over a decade of being in Mingyu's presence, managed to embarrass yourself more than you ever had before? And then Mingyu laughed, and you would have sunk all the way into the springs and wood of the couch if you could have, suffocated in the cushion stuffing.
"Thanks. You're pretty hot yourself." He said after a few moments, once the sweet music of his laughter had died down to delighted giggles. You groaned, tipping your head back and flipping him off. "Hey! I'm serious. You're sexy as hell, everyone knows it. Why am I not allowed to say it?"
You looked at him then, entirely at a loss for words. And it wasn't that you were insecure, you knew you were attractive enough, but you'd never heard Mingyu talk about you that way. Hell, you hadn't heard much of anyone talking about you that way. And with the newfound...admiration of your best friend's assets, your body warmed at the thought of him thinking about yours.
"It's not that. You're allowed to say it if you want, I guess. Just surprised is all." You explained, shifting a little bit where you were laying. You could feel how wet you were getting now, the way your panties were starting to stick to your core.
"I mean I'm not the one who just shouted that you're hot. I was just returning the compliment." He joked. You huffed, sending another harsh glare in his direction. He didn't pay it any mind, instead leaning over you and moving you so you were sitting a little more properly, effectively pushing you out of his spot. This time you did moan out loud, your body reacting on instinct as your thighs clenched together again.
Mingyu paused, his hand still gripping at the flesh of your thigh, and he felt the way you tensed under him, the flutter of your eyelids. He let out a breathless chuckle, his lips curling into a smirk of pure disbelief.
"No way. You're getting off on that." He accused. Your jaw dropped open, and you searched your mind for any coherent argument that you could make to save the last shreds of your dignity. "You like when I toss you around like that."
"I don't!" You lied, your face burning so hot you were pretty sure you were a second and a half away from combusting. Liar, liar, face on fire or whatever. "It's just that nobody has ever done that before. Never been able to, really."
Mingyu looked surprised, though you were pretty sure he could still see right through whatever lie you were trying to hide behind.
"You're not that heavy. Sounds like people need to try harder." He shrugged, and a shiver ran down your spine. You hadn't expected that. And the more you thought about it the more you started recognizing how much muscle he had. His biceps were bigger than you'd thought about, and his thighs were almost as big as yours, pure muscle.
"I think you're just bluffing. But seriously, it doesn't matter. Don't go reading into it or some stupid shit." You said, fixing him with an ever so menacing finger point. He didn't give in the way you wanted to, instead gripping your wrist with one hand and pinning it above your head.
"Bluffing?" He was so close, you could feel the weight of him crushing in on you. You could smell his cologne, the one you'd bought him a couple of Christmases ago. "Oh, baby, you have no idea what I'm capable of. But I bet you wanna find out. Don't you, pretty girl?"
Any hesitance was out the window, consequences were a concern for whenever you woke up from this absolute dream. You nodded your head, chewing on your bottom lip. Fuck you wanted to know what he was capable of, wanted him to show you that your standards could use some raising. And that was never something that Mingyu had any problems doing.
He laughed, dark and deeper than usual, his eyes scanning over your face like he was taking you in for the first time all over again, learning every miniscule detail. Then he was crashing his lips against yours, closing in even more so you could feel the planes of his sculpted chest pressing against the softness of yours. He was warm, he always was, and your hands gravitated towards his shirt, sliding under the fabric to feel along the curve of his waist, down to the dips of his defined v-lines. How had you spent years ignoring this body?
The kiss was slow, deep, and dragged out the most pathetic whines from you. He was good at this, at working you up with a simple glide of his tongue against yours, or the tiniest dig of teeth against your bottom lip. Eventually his kisses trailed lower, along your soft jaw, down your neck, nibbling and sucking at the skin just above the dip of your neckline.
"Gyu," You whined, fisting at his shirt and tugging him impossibly closer. His hips slotted between yours, large hands gripping at your hips and pulling you close.
"What is it, baby? Need something?" He asked, taking the moment to push his hands under your shirt, kneading the softness of your waist and making you hiss out a quiet breath.
"Want you." You said, looking up at him with the sweetest eyes that had him absolutely melting into a puddle.
"Anything you want, baby, it's all yours." He promised. When he moved away from you, you started to protest, but then he was picking you up, guiding your arms around his neck and hooking your legs around his thighs like you weighed nothing. You squealed, hiding in his neck.
"I'm not built to have my feet off the ground, Kim Mingyu!" You chastised, but he just grinned, groping at your plush thighs that he always loved so much.
"What, you afraid of heights?" He asked with a smirk, already striding towards his bedroom. You didn't let go of him even for a moment, but your hands did wander a little, groping at the muscles you'd been so indifferent towards before. After all, who knew how many opportunities you'd have to do this again in the future.
Then you were being tossed on his bed, the mattress squeaking beneath you as you bounced, but it didn't take long for Mingyu to follow, closing in over top of you and caging you against his bed. You reached up, fingers carding through his dark hair and pulling him down to kiss you again. His lips against yours was quickly becoming an addictive feeling. He tasted like the beer he'd been sipping earlier in the night, a taste that you were pretty sure you'd only enjoy off of him.
He pulled back, sitting up on his knees to discard his shirt, then moving on to do the same to yours. He pouted at the sight of your bra as if it were a personal affront to him, then he was looking at you, waiting for your permission to take it off. You didn't give it to him, instead reaching underneath you to unhook it, sliding it off and watching the way his eyes glossed over, his tongue poking against his cheek. He was eating you alive with his gaze, and he looked lost to the world when his hands cupped your tits. He groaned, weighing them in his hands and kneading them gently before dipping his head to wrap his lips around one of your nipples.
You squirmed, and one of his hands pinned your waist harder against the bed, keeping you put even just with the thought of overpowering you. You whined, his tongue making messy work around your hardening nipple, wetting a great portion of your breast, not that you could complain when it felt good. It was amazing having him ravish you the way he was, tasting every inch of skin and leaving tiny marks in his wake. Then he was switching to the other, giving it the same treatment until he pulled away. He had a delighted grin on his swollen, spit slicked lips.
"You're so fucking pretty. Look at these tits," He mumbled, still playing with them as if he were entirely fascinated and couldn't move on. You whined louder now, fixing him with the best pout you could.
"Mingyu, need you. Don't tease me. Can play with my boobs later." You were nearly throwing a tantrum with the annoying whine in your voice and the way you squirmed and huffed underneath him. He tutted, though he still made his progress downwards, kissing along your tummy and tucking his fingers under the edge of your pants to take them off for you.
"So impatient. Need to be full that bad?" He asked.
"Yeah," You agreed instantly, propping yourself up so you could watch the descent he made, the way his mouth was practically worshiping your curves. You knew he'd always had a type, but you'd never put two and two together you supposed. "Want you to fuck me, Gyu. Want it so bad. Please,"
Mingyu grinned, pulling off your pants and your soaked panties in one go, leaving you completely bare underneath him. He cursed lowly, the sound of his voice sending another shiver down your spine. He dug his fingertips into your thighs, spreading them open to get to what he had been aching for for ages.
"So wet already. Just from being manhandled a little? Didn't know you were so dirty," He teased, and you fixed him with a heatless glare. "Gonna have to taste you next time. Don't think you're patient enough to wait through that and stretching you out for me."
"Don't need you to stretch me out," You said quickly, the thought of his mouth on your aching pussy enough to send you into a little frenzy. "Can just eat me out and then fuck me, right Gyu? Don't have to get me ready."
"Oh, sweetheart. You're gonna need to be opened up. Don't wanna break you." He hummed, fingers already sliding through your arousal, dragging it over your lower lips, then up to swirl around your clit. You gasped softly, a content hum rumbling through your chest as he finally eased the burning need to be touched.
"I'm not a virgin, Mingyu! I know how to take dick." You argued, and he landed a single slap against your pussy. You cried out, your thighs twitching shut at the sting. You bit the inside of your cheek to stifle the pathetic moan begging to come out when Mingyu wrenched your legs back open, pressing them where he wanted them and giving you a quick warning look. One that said loud and clear don't make me move them again.
"Nobody said you were. But I've heard about your sex life, and nobody has fucked you open enough to take me. So I have to do the hard work myself." He told you. You didn't even have a moment to form a response, his middle finger sinking into you with ease. You gripped at his sheets, not having expected the feeling but certainly delighted by it.
"Another, Gyu. Please." You said, less demanding this time. He liked that, the way that you seemed to be done arguing with him, finally taking what he was giving you. He slid a second of his long fingers inside of you, scissoring them and twisting them carefully. You called his name when he found the spongy spot that sent your stomach tumbling and twisting. He hummed, focusing his attention on caressing that spot and watching the way that you gushed around him.
His brow was furrowed in complete concentration, his expression the definition of focus, and it had you feeling so seen that you couldn't help but squirm.
"Stay put, pretty girl." He demanded softly, and you whimpered.
"Then stop looking at me like that! Making me shy."
"How shy can you get when I'm knuckles deep in your dripping cunt?" He asked, curling his fingers again to earn more of the pretty sounds he kept pulling out of you. "Thought you were begging for my dick earlier, but I can't look at what's mine? That doesn't seem quite right, baby."
You huffed and whined, not entirely able to form thoughts but wanted to argue against his teasing. He just chuckled, pulling his hand away to ease a third finger into you. The stretch stung for a moment, and he pressed kisses to the insides of your thighs in a silent apology as he worked you open just a little more.
"Alright, think we can try now. You ready, baby?" He asked, pulling his fingers out for good this time and leaving you feeling tragically empty. You nodded though, knowing that the moment of waiting would be so worth it once you had him fucking you into next week.
Mingyu grinned, getting up to kick off his pants and take off his boxers. What you were greeted by left your jaw hanging open in disbelief. It shouldn't have surprised you that his cock was as breathtaking as he was, and it certainly shouldn't have surprised you that it was just as big and thick as he was. You watched the way he stroked himself, your wetness from his fingers smearing along his length. He wasn't terribly long, but he was so goddamn thick that you couldn't imagine your body opening up enough to take him. The head was leaking, a tiny stream of precum dripping down the pretty pink tip.
"Now do you see why I had to get you ready. Can't go hurting my pretty baby, gotta make sure you can take it."
"You're so big," You said despite the fact that both of you knew this by now. "Never even seen such a perfect cock. Fuck, you're gonna ruin me."
Mingyu groaned, his dick twitching in his palm. He needed you, maybe more than you needed him right then. He returned to his place between your legs, dragging the tip of his cock to nudge against your clit and watching the way your hole clenched around nothing.
"Want me to fuck you, sweetheart?"
You nodded frantically, hands reaching down to hold your thighs apart for him, and he nearly went into cardiac arrest at the sight. How had he let anyone fuck this pretty pussy before he had? Let anyone else even try to make you feel good? He didn't like thinking about it. So instead he lined himself up with your eager hole, slowly pressing the tip in until he finally slid home. You shivered and whined at the feeling of him sinking into you. His movements were slow, still worried about hurting you as he pressed into you inch by inch.
By the time he was bottomed out, tears were welling along your lash line, and your walls were spasming around his length, trying desperately to get used to being split open. You tried to steady your breathing, to relax so you weren't choking his dick so tight. He reached down, rubbing slow circles on your clit and mumbling words of encouragement that were only serving to make you more needy.
"Just gotta relax, baby. Already taking me so well. Gonna make you feel so good. Fuck," He gripped at your thigh, squeezing it to try and keep his control steady. But fuck he wanted to rail you so hard you cried on his cock, and his self restraint was slipping through his fingertips.
"Fuck me, Gyu. Can take it, I'm ready." You begged, hips wiggling to get more of the delicious stretch. He didn't have to be told twice. He guided one of your legs to wrap around his waist, leaning down so his arms were caging you in and all you could see, all you could feel, all you could smell was him. You pulled him closer as his hips started to roll. Out, then in, then out again, faster and faster until he was setting a brutal pace.
His sheer size was enough to have you spiraling towards an orgasm, but the way his pistoned into you, the sloppy sounds of your hole gushing around him filling his room. It was embarrassing in all the right ways. You pulled him in to kiss you, and this time the kiss was rushed and desperate, teeth clacking against each other, and saliva making a mess of your face, but you didn't care. Not when all you could think about was the fact that you could feel him in your stomach.
"So close," You warned him, and he chuckled, moving to suck a hickey onto your neck.
"Already gonna cum for me? Did I fuck you that good? Thought you said you could take it." He taunted, though it was obvious from the strain in his voice and the wavering of his thrusts that he probably wasn't gonna last a whole lot longer either.
"Yeah, fuck me so good, Gyu. Feels so fucking perfect. Your cock fills me up so full, can't fucking breathe. Mingyu, please. Please I need to cum." You babbled, tears finally starting to drip down your cheeks. He wiped them away with a touch much more tender than the way his hips were slamming against yours.
"Go on then, soak my cock. Show me how good I make you feel. Gonna ruin you for anyone else, only gonna need my dick." He was practically whining, trying to hold onto the last ounce of control he had. But then you were coming around him, walls milking him for all he had and he was an absolute goner. Your breathless chant on his name made him cum, filling you up so deep and so full that you couldn't do anything but cling to him and bask in the warmth of it.
He was careful as he collapsed against you not to squish you under his weight, half holding himself up at your side as he held you closer.
"Did so fucking good, took my cock so perfectly. Fucking made for me." He mumbled, leaving a trail of warm, gentle kisses along your shoulder.
"Gyu, you're gonna get hard again if you don't pull out." You warned him, already feeling his cock trying to return to full mast. He just grumbled.
"Gonna get hard again if I pull out too. You're just hot. Can't help it. Looked so pretty when you came because of me." He whined for real this time, a worked up, defeated sound. "We can go again, right? You can take another! Just give me a minute to get ready again. Gonna fuck you again."
You were in for a long night, but you couldn't possibly say no to those big brown eyes.

[permanent taglist] [only for those interested, donât fill the form otherwise]
It is a beautiful day, and like they always say: beautiful things happen on beautiful days, and you were damn ready for the said beautiful thing to happen!
The plan is simpleâyou and Jun have gone over it at least fifty times, and Seokmin has been standing there listening to you both intently throughout the whole ordeal.Â
âSo, letâs go over it once again,â you say, pointing at the white board with the picture of a man, Mingyu to be exact, the heir to the Kim Corp. and your target.Â
âHe leaves his office to have coffee every afternoon exactly at 3pm at the nearest cafĂ© named âCarveryâ, am I right?â Jun and Seokmin nod with a concentrated look on their faces.Â
âNext he goes to the park, sits there for fifteen minutes, on most days, and then takes the path that leads them straight back to the building, correct?â The two men again nod, and then Jun takes over the talking.Â
âMore often than not, he hates company during his afternoon runs, so the best chance we have of abducting the man is when he is between the cafĂ© and the park. This will give us at least a twenty-minute head start before the police and his family start looking for him.âÂ
Now you and Seokmin nod at the man, and Seokmin takes the podium to present the next part.Â
âJun and I will be on the streets while y/n waits in the car, and from the background check we ran last month, we know the man is well trained in martial arts, so we will try and attack him with the anesthetic as soon as possible.âÂ
âAnd after the guy is unconscious, we will flee with his ass~,â adds Jun.Â
âSounds like a solid plan,â you laugh as you high five the two men.Â
Indeed, it was a solid plan. You three had considered every possibility and chosen this day to execute your plan. Itâs perfect and thorough, so what can go wrong?Â
--Â
A lot apparently.Â
You reached the destination ten minutes early to give Seokmin and Jun ample amount of time to prepare for the attack.Â
As you parked your car near the pavement where the abduction would take place, you see a man walk past the car wearing a beige trench coat with some sort of concoction from the coffee shop.Â
Now if you were a seasoned abductor, you would have known not to mess with the person as the timing was not right. But that was not the case, and seeing a person who vaguely matched the physical descriptions of the man you were actually supposed to abduct gave you enough reason to jump the gun and take this man hostage.Â
Before you could process anything, Seokmin jumped on the guy, trying to tackle him while Jun tried to find a way to inject the drug into his system. After another minute of struggle, taking at least five punches in their abdomen and faces, both the men were successful in sedating the man. Â
They hurriedly carried him to the car and you three sped off to the base to ask his family for ransom.Â
--Â
You have been back at the base for three hours now. As you look at the unconscious man tied to the chair in front, you realize the grave mistake you made by not seeing his face the minute you were actually kidnapping him.Â
âI mean if you look at his eyes, they look very similar to the real target, you know. Maybe he ate too much last night and is a bit swollen now,â Jun says in a wise tone. Now if you were stupid like Seokmin, you would have accepted this analogy of his just like the hundred others he had spewed in the past two hours, but you are not. So, you hit the guyâs head while calmly saying.Â
âWill you keep quiet for a minute? You know as well as I that this is the wrong man. We donât even know who he actually is. So, we wait for him to gain consciousness and then interrogate him.â Â
You have figured that screaming and crying will get you nowhere. All it will do is trigger Seokminâs panic attack, and you do not think he can manage another one after the one hour long one he just resurfaced from. Â
âOur best bet is that we abducted a pretty important dude, or else we know the boss will have our meat served to his dogs for their nightly feasts,â you continued.Â
âI can see he is wearing pretty costly brands all over. My guts say he is rich,â Seokmin pipes up.Â
âSeok, your gut told you to scream for the past hour. I donât trust it a lot now,â you complain.Â
âI think itâs your fault, too. You should have stopped us from abducting the guy instead of just staring from the car, you know,â Jun says.Â
Now, you will consider yourself to be a level-headed person, but one thing that gets to you more than anything else is a false accusation. On top of that, the bitch has the gal to accuse you of being careless when they were the ones showing literally no care about their work, owing to the fact you were not even supposed to abduct the untouchable Kim Mingyu in the first place. The leader of your clan, although you three had never seen him, mostly operated through Jeonghan, his right-hand man. The guy you agreed to kidnap was apparently remarkably close to your boss. But when faced with the tough choice of loyalty towards one gang and the lump sum of three million, you three had to face the situation and betray your gang. You know you should not, but the small jobs with the gang were not enough to even pay your rent! Â
So, who does Jun think he is to shift the blame towards you when you have done nothing but try to make a secure living for all three of you. Therefore, you do the thing that your sane brain advises you to.Â
Go off at Jun.Â
âSo, if I fail to babysit two grown men while on an extremely important mission that included them, the blame is shifted towards me?!âÂ
âYou were both supposed to wait for my instructions before confronting the poor bloke. Now, if things go wrong, it will be your faults, and I will be dragged into it because I was the main brain behind the planning.â Â
âGuys, I think we should focus on the guy more; I think he is stirring.âÂ
This statement from Seokmin caught both of your attention, causing you to cease the argument immediately to take a look at the man in front of you.Â
Without hesitation, you put your gun on his head and ask, âwho are you, tell us about yourself.âÂ
The man albeit good looking with his doe eyes and plump lips, gave you three a mean stare before speaking sassily.Â
âShouldnât you know the identity of the person you kidnap?âÂ
âIf we knew, I donât think I would have asked about you,â you reply.Â
The man scoffs before informing you the most gut-wrenching piece of information you have ever heard.Â
âIâm Choi Seungcheol leader of Choi Clan.âÂ
--Â
When Seungcheol met Mingyu today, he was feeling particularly drained and sought the comfort of a familiar face, longing for a brief respite from the relentless demands of his job. Mingyu, sensing his friend's exhaustion, proposed they take a detour to unwind, considering Seungcheol's grueling schedule. Gratefully accepting the suggestion, Seungcheol had embarked on what he thought would be a much-needed moment of relaxation.Â
Oh, how wrong he was.Â
As he leisurely sipped his coffee, enjoying a fleeting moment of calm, the tranquility was shattered by the sudden onslaught of a group of thugs. Seungcheol had braced himself for a possible mugging, but the idea of being abducted never crossed his mind. He curses himself for sending Soonyoung away earlier, now regretting not having company in this unforeseen predicament.Â
To make matters worse, Seungcheol felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him. A mafia boss getting abducted!Â
How humiliating. Â
Now, do not get him wrong, he was, in reality, as far from incompetent as the Sahara was from water, as Seungkwan was from being calm, as Jihoon was from showing affectionâyou get the point.Â
In fact, he had been the first in three generations to successfully reclaim the southeastern part of the city for his clan from the Yoon family, a testament to his capabilities.Â
Now bound and surrounded by three hapless captors whose incompetence was glaringly evident, judging by the one who he suspects was crying prior to their conversation with him. He suspected they had targeted Mingyu, but mistakenly seized him instead. Seungcheol could not help but shake his head at their sheer incompetence.Â
Now, again, he is not that scared. He knows he has a trusted pack of workers who would join heaven and earth in search of him. No, he is least bothered about himself.Â
What he is actually bothered about is who planned to abduct Mingyu, because he is strictly off limits for his clan members. He knows this as much as anyone that they respect the young heir a lot, not only due to his kind nature, but also because of the relationship he has with their leader.Â
So, when he informs his three kidnappers his name, he gets the weirdest of responses everâa chorus of âshitsâ and âfucks.â Moreover, he sees all three of his kidnappers suddenly fall down at his feet and grumbling out the most nonsensical bullshit ever. The only words he vaguely captures are âit was supposed to be someone elseâ and âsirsâ.Â
This confuses the man even more. But then he suddenly sees all three of them take their masks off, revealing two men and, dare he say, a very gorgeous woman. Now in any other situation,
Seungcheol would have laughed, but now that he is in it himself, the only reaction he can provide is a confused head nod as the woman immediately goes to untie his hands.Â
--Â
âSo, you are telling me that you were paid to abduct my friend who you know is off limits, but still went ahead with the idea, even though you are the members of my gang?!â Â
He says as he looks at your group standing in front of him with their heads bowed down looking like kids getting scolded. Â
âBut sir, we barely make any money from doing the jobs assigned to us. The only way for us to pay our rent was for taking up jobs from outside, and this one paid us a huge sum. We never wanted you to be the one getting abducted instead, we swear!â you suddenly exclaim with the extreme need to explain yourself.Â
Your two partners beside you do their dutiful job by nodding their heads with your rant.Â
âYou three fucked up really bad, didnât you?â He says, looking a tad bit amused.Â
âWe are really sorry!â Seokmin chokes out, visibly scared by the whole ordeal.Â
âWell, itâs time I go back, so take me back to the office.âÂ
Right after that statement comes out of his mouth, you three are escorting him out of the door to the car parked outside to take him back.Â
--Â
âSo, you are telling me these three, these newbies who literally didnât have any good job for them to gain experience, drugged your ass and took you to god knows where, and you couldnât even put up a good fight?!âÂ
Jeonghan exclaims, looking at the seated, nervous, and scared faces of the three of you from Seungcheolâs officeâs glass.Â
âApparently not,â the older man sighs.Â
âMy friend, are you sure you are a real mafia? Because in light of the current happenings, I am starting to question your integrity a lot.â Jeonghan says as he barks out a laugh, taking immense pleasure at his friendâs humiliation.Â
âOr maybe you were too caught up staring at the pretty lady to notice that you were getting kidnapped.âÂ
The bitch continues to make fun of the older man.Â
âI just thought I was getting mugged, so I didnât fight hard enough. Who knew I would be kidnapped instead.â Seungcheol grumbles, pouting a bit.Â
âWhich is even worse, because you are telling me you would have let people just mug you for no reason when you are one of the most influential people underground!â Jeonghan said while looking pretty concerned about the statement his superior just spewed, and he does indeed have a hard time accepting it.Â
âAhh! Just get over with it and let me go. Plus make sure the three of them face the appropriate consequences for not only abducting me, but also trying to abduct my friend,â Seungcheol barks out while walking out, thoroughly humiliated, and annoyed that his junior was having fun at his expense.Â
So Jeonghan does the very thing at which he is extremely good.Â
Create chaos.Â
Right after his superior leaves, he strides towards the group and says, âso because the boss has instructed me to do something with you three which will stop you guys from going off the hook, Iâm going to assign you some jobs in the organization because I can.âÂ
Now, anyone even vaguely familiar with Jeonghan would recognize the expression he wore just before chaos ensued, but contrary to popular belief, Jeonghan is actually quite amiableâat least, that is what he believes, and that is what matters, right?Â
He continues, âJunhui, you will be overseeing the artillery division. Our deputy head Chan will ensure you are well informed about your job. You will meet him tomorrow. As for Seokmin,â he paused, a sly smile crossing his face, which made Seokmin visibly nervous, âYou, my friend, will be our esteemed boss's driver. Lastly, y/n, you will be his assistant. You shall be meeting Chan tomorrow, too; he will explain the workings of your new role.âÂ
Normally, in any ordinary conversation, you would not dare ask inappropriate questions, but the circumstances were far from normal, so you proceeded with the most audacious question you could muster: âWhy did Chan leave his previous post?âÂ
Jeonghan politely responded, âHe left because the job didnât suit him, so we shifted him to the artillery department as a deputy head.âÂ
Unspoken was the fact that Chan had been worn down by the boss's relentless bullying, quietly requesting a transfer for at least three years before Jeonghan finally relented. Since then, the turnover of assistants had been alarmingly high. Jeonghan desperately hoped you would stick around. Moreover, if either you or Seungcheol objected to this arrangement, he had enough leverage to ensure you both comply. Enough dirt to keep both of you in line.Â
--Â
Your meeting with Chan the next day went well. He explained to you the workings, gave you tips and tricks on how to make sure all the work gets done. Overall, a 10/10 experience, except the small hiccup at the end where he cryptically said something along the lines of âBest of all fucking luck with this job because you will need it.âÂ
Now a small best of luck is never a bad gesture, but that statement!Â
That shit was a bit too hostile, even for you. But you are fine, happy even. Anything that saves you from getting your life cut short by a mafia leader is always welcomed.Â
--Â
âWhat are you doing here?â Â
âWhere is Jeonghan?âÂ
The first two sentences to ever leave The Choi Seungcheolâs mouth the minute he sees your face when he comes into his office that afternoon. Indeed, so delightful!Â
"Sir, I've been assigned as your work assistant for the time being," you reply, your eyes downcast. It is a surreal turn of events considering just yesterday this man was tied up in your basement. After that ordeal, everything seemed to take on a different hue, almost as if you were hearing the bells of heaven. So, that reaction seems pretty appropriate to you given the circumstances.Â
Now you see our oh so beloved Mr. Choi was not just an underground mob because what is the fun in that, right! He mostly did international business under the guise of his company named The ChoiTech, solely based on providing technological change using sustainable means. Pretty cleaver tactic, although overused, but still gets the job done, so who are you to judge.Â
The man looking extremely shocked at your statement immediately rushed inside his office, you presume, to call Jeonghan. And sure enough, within five minutes of him disappearing from your sight, you could hear him loudly complaining to his secretary on the phone. âBut Jeonghan I canât be collaborating with her, after what she did to me yesterday!âÂ
The man whined and then suddenly you could hear hushed whispers, so being the curious cat you were, slowly crept near the door to hear the conversation better.Â
âBut man, itâs humiliating. She kidnapped me for fucks sakeâ, the oh so powerful man, who people assumed will one day rule the underworld, whined like a kid who has been denied to go on a playdate with their best friend.Â
By this time, you were almost pressed onto the door when suddenly the sound of someone clearing their throat made you jump away from it and look about for the person who stopped you from consuming you daily dose of gossip.Â
The culprit, Joshua, stood right in front of your desk with an amused look on his face.Â
Now Joshua is someone you were extremely familiar with, being the man who took care of assigning roles to the lower members of the group, you have had a lot of angry conversations with him.Â
âI would ask you if Seungcheol is busy, but the way you were trying so hard to eavesdrop, makes me think otherwise,â he says, making you roll your eyes.Â
âJust give me a minute to tell him you are here, then you can go in.âÂ
The man nodded still looking thoroughly amused at how sad you looked due to missing out on whatever conversation you were listening to.Â
After a minute, the man was inside, now looking even happier that he has seen his next victim to torment.Â
--Â
âSo Jeonghan was indeed right,â he said, looking like he was having a tough time controlling his laugh.Â
âNot you, too,â the pouty man whined from behind the desk. âBut really, can you tell him to not put that woman as my assistant? I get war flashbacks every time I see her face,â he continued whining.Â
âI mean, I could do that, but where is the fun there, right!â Joshua, thoroughly enjoying his bossâs misery, replied. âBut in all seriousness, you could just treat her like Chan. The boy is still traumatized by the amount of work you made him do,â he thoughtfully added.Â
The older replies, âI liked Chan, he was nice, would do anything you ask him to!âÂ
âAnd so will she. Her life is at stake here, give her some benefit of the doubt.âÂ
This statement made the older think like never before. Plans of tormenting you to quit your job rushing past his brain at high speed. Suddenly everything made sense.Â
âI can take my revenge! That is exactly why Jeonghan made her my assistant. Oh, my friend is such a genius!â Seungcheol said, looking a bit too enthusiastic.Â
âOk, I am sure it was done to decrease his workload, but whatever you say, man,â the younger said skeptically after seeing the diabolical look on the elderâs face.Â
--Â
It has already been three weeks and suddenly you understand what Chan meant all those days back when he wished you good luck. To put it quite plainly, your boss is crazy.Â
The man was a combination of workaholic and perfectionist, which resulted in him getting swamped by work and by default the same fate befalls you every day, too. For the past three weeks, you have had a challenging time at the office to even take a break to eat food.Â
The men you called your enemies once, aka Jeonghan and Joshua, are the ones now saving you from dying out of malnutrition. You are eternally thankful to them. But more than anything now, you regret trying to kidnap Kim Mingyuâthe name makes you want to cry in a corner and throw rocks at people, if you had any time to do so.Â
âSir, you scheduled two appointments at the same time: the new project for the Orin Community Park and another one with Mr. Xu for the narcotic deal.âÂ
You informed the man who had his face shoved in some papers, reading something diligently. Â
âWhy did you not stop me from doing so then, you were right beside me when I was going through the plan.âÂ
Now, it is your job to curate the perfect schedule for the man to follow, but Seungcheol being the guy born only to cause you inconvenience made his schedule for the week himself this time.Â
Why you might ask?
Purely because the man is a chronic insomniac and whenever he has trouble sleeping, instead of taking measures to have a peaceful sleep, he tries his hands in different works because he can, and this time his victim was the poor, poor schedule of his.Â
âBecause you had already sent them both emails, sir,â you say, thoroughly exasperated.Â
âOk maybe I did, so now I obviously canât cancel on both so you figure out something so that I can attend both the meetings, because I ainât missing any.âÂ
The man just turns his chair around and keeps reading whatever he was reading in the first place.
With an extremely calm voice, you say, âsir I need you to stop trying to do something to pass time when you canât sleep. I need you to actually go to a doctor.â âCanât,â comes his response, making you sigh more.Â
Sometimes it feels like you are working as a babysitter to a grown man instead of an assistant to a CEO.Â
Seeing the conversation would be going nowhere if you keep talking to him, you go out and do the second-best thing in your books.Â
Call Chan.Â
âLemme guess, the boss is giving you a hard time!â The first sentence he says right after picking up the phone.Â
Sighing, you tell him all of Seungcheolâs various administrative behaviors throughout this week. When you got to the part where he had so bravely and meticulously made the perfect schedule, Chan started laughing. The gall of that boy!Â
âWait, he still does that!â He exclaimed between his laughs, making you feel even more annoyed.Â
After calming down he says, âjust make Jeonghan or Jihoon go for the community meeting and let him manage the narc. I know you are thankful, so do not mention it, but maybe buy me a meal when you are free, as a repayment.âÂ
Chuckling at the younger boy, you agreed to get him whatever he asks for purely because he is a literal angel, and he deserves the world. Ok, maybe it is a bit too dramatic, but the boy was indeed your angel in disguise.Â
Planning on following through with the advice Chan gave you, you called both Jeonghan and Jihoon simultaneously. As Jeonghan was busy, Jihoon accepted the work of going to the community welfare meeting instead of Seungcheol.Â
After that, the whole day was smooth sailing. But the main root of all your problems was happy, maybe not healthy, but the look of pure happiness and the twinkling eyes when he passed by your desk was hard to miss. Â
This man was slowly but surely making sure to strip you of your patience bit by bit.Â
--Â Â
The last straw to eradicating your already depleting patience came when Seungcheol in all his glory, during one of his nightly âImma take away otherâs jobs because sleep refuses to befriend meâ escapades, deleted all your assistant notes for the server by mistake.Â
You still are baffled as to how he did that. Truth be told so is he. He was scrolling away on his phone when he saw this reel about âhow to increase your Wi-Fi speed.â Extremely intrigued by it, he had actually tried to increase the internet speed in his house, and he swears on every god on planet earth it worked. So, he tried doing so with the one in his office, which weirdly enough resulted in removal of all the information that you had stored in your laptop.Â
Now if this would have happened to his computer, too, you would not have gotten as angry as you were, but the motherfuckerâs computer was all well and good and if you actually pay attention, it seems that his internet speed has increased, too!Â
How this man become a CEO is beyond you. What is not so beyond is your pure hatred for him and his technologically challenged ass.Â
So that night when Seungcheol, stayed back as usual to do work, you took your chances, entered his office, and slammed a ball of yarn and two knitting needles on his table while scaring the life out of the, not so, poor man.Â
âStart knitting!â you calmly said.Â
âBut I donât know how to though!â he replies, thoroughly confused.Â
âThen learn, Seungcheol! I donât care what you want to do, I need you to learn and pick up a hobby, start gaming, try knitting anything! Just make sure you are not trying to turn the office upside down.âÂ
Anyone who knows Seungcheol also knows never to question his nightly routines, but more than that, they also know the pride of the man is too high to ever accept his mistake. So, when you commit the grave crime of pointing out his mishap with the Wi-Fi router that morning, you hit the nail on the head and pissed him to the fucking moon.Â
âSo, you think Iâm bad at what I do?!âÂ
âNo, I think you are technically inept. And you should leave it to people who are good at it.âÂ
This pisses off Seungcheol more than anything, but you donât let him intervene as you keep speaking.Â
âOn top of that you are constantly making changes in your schedule without informing me. Youâre your assistant. Maybe have you ever considered the fact that your schedule was made so that your day is smooth sailing, and no two activities overlap!âÂ
âJust because you refuse to go to a doctor and try and find a way to manage your stress does not mean you make the workplace hell for us.âÂ
By the end of your rant, you were fuming and Seungcheol was stunned.Â
Clearing his throat, he says awkwardly, âIâm sorry you feel so, I will try and fix my schedule.âÂ
Now, although this statement made you feel better, it also confused you, as you were fully prepared to have a full-blown fight with the man. Him backing down was never an option. But now that it has happened, you muttered a small, âI shall be going thenâ, to which your boss meekly nodded.Â
After you were outside, you ended up feeling better due to unloading all your anger on the man. It was refreshing. Now you just needed to see what changes tomorrow will bring for Seungcheol.Â
--Â
It had been two months since you had the argument with Seungcheol, more like your single woman shouting spree. But things have been better. He has tried to keep his need for new experiences down and this has made your life exponentially easier. Â
Did you now have time to eat. Absolutely not!Â
But the office was not a nightmare anymore. Â
If someone would have told you five months ago that this is what your future held for you, you would have straight up laughed at their face and told them to get themselves checked. But life has weird ways of throwing you in situations you donât expect yourself to be in, and you have no other ways of getting out but learn to go with the flow.Â
You sometimes talk to Jun and Seokmin, and you have realized you got the hardest of all the jobs.
You asked Jeonghan about it once and his answer was, âbecause I can and its fun!âÂ
So here you are sitting on the couch with Seokmin while enjoying your sandwich when you see Seungcheol come outside carrying a bag, Jeonghan trailing behind him sporting this devilish look on his face.Â
The big man walks towards you and hands you the bag. Opening it you notice a green scarf sitting at the bottom.Â
âSeungcheolâs first knitting creation, and he says thank you for forcing him to learn knitting. It helps him sleep now.â Jeonghan says while pointing at the bag even before the older man could open his mouth.Â
Seokmin tries to make himself as invisible as possible while looking extremely interested in the whole situation unfolding in front of him.Â
Seungcheol waves his hands at Jeonghan trying to hush him down and whines, âlet me speak!âÂ
âI made this cause you told me it would help me sleep! I didnât think it could actually help me, but it looks like it did, so Iâm extremely thankful for your suggestion.â
âGood job!â Jeonghan says, patting Seungcheolâs head like he was a child, making you laugh a bit.Â
âThank you for listening to me, sir!âÂ
âOh, no, call him by his name, or else he will become weird with you again!â Jeonghan says, making you laugh again. Seungcheol pouts at both of you and storms back to his office, with Jeonghan at his tail making fun of him yet again.Â
After that, you kept the bag in your desk and went to bid your friend goodbye.Â
âHe looked like he was confessing to his crush, you knowâ, Seokmin muses.Â
âMaybe he has a crush on you!â He exclaimed after pausing for a moment.Â
âI donât, he is a weird person,â you had replied thoughtfully.Â
Realizing he has been chatting with you for a long time, Seokmin quickly rushes outside while loudly screaming a âgoodbyeâ for the whole building to hear.Â
When you came back to your desk, Jeonghan was waiting for you there. The man just looked at you with a smirk and said, âsee you later y/n, and make sure to wear the scarf!âÂ
Jeonghan is a weird person. You more often than not donât listen to what he tells you to do. He forces you to do them anyways.Â
âSeriously, lady, do wear the scarf. Plus, itâs cold outsideâyou wonât get a heatstroke if you do so.âÂ
With that he was outside of the office, too. Slowly work caught up with you and you forgot about the scarf altogether.Â
--Â
That evening, as you were finishing up at work and preparing to leave, you grabbed the scarf that had been gifted to you and wrapped it around your neck before stepping out of the office.Â
Unbeknownst to you, the man who had given you the scarf felt a rush of joy upon seeing you wear it. Concealing his flushed cheeks, he quietly followed you out and spontaneously invited you to join him for dinner, explaining that he had given Seokmin the night off and now was in extreme need of a dinner companion, as Seokmin would fill in that position on most nights. It was unusual for him to make such a request, but you were both hungry and couldn't resist the offer of a free meal, even if it was from someone as harmless as him.Â
"So, what do you think?" Seungcheol asked as the two of you sat at the ramen shop waiting for your orders.Â
"About what?" You replied, genuinely puzzled by his question.Â
"Didn't you read the letter?" He asked, his face turning even redder as he mentioned it.Â
"What letter?" You responded, glancing around until Seungcheol nodded towards the bag in which he gave you the scarf, looking inside you noticed an envelope that matched the interior perfectly sitting at the bottom.Â
"Oh! I can read it now," you exclaimed.Â
"Don't worry about it right now," he interjected as the waiter arrived with your bowls of ramen.Â
Despite his reluctance to discuss the letter further, your curiosity only grew stronger after he dropped you off at your doorstep. Once inside your home, you wasted no time in retrieving the letter from your bag. Its contents filled you with excitement like never before.Â
The following day at the office, you placed another letter on Seungcheol's desk before getting on with your usual tasks, eager to see his reaction.Â
--Â
"So, let me get this straightâyou've been dating our boss for the past month?" Exclaimed Jun, eyes wide with disbelief.Â
"Why didn't you tell us sooner? How did this even happen?!" Chimed in Seokmin, equally stunned by the news.Â
As soon as you revealed your relationship with Seungcheol, you found yourself bombarded with a flurry of questions from your friends. It was amusing to witness their sheer astonishment, and yet, deep down, it felt incredibly rewarding to share this surprising news with them.
What started as a casual hangout quickly transformed into a lively interrogation session, with your friends firing off all sorts of curious inquiries. Most pressing among them was the question:Â
âHow and when did all of this happen?!âÂ
You couldn't blame them for their curiosity. It seemed like just yesterday that you had kidnapped Seungcheol off the street instead of his friend Mingyu, which resulted in Jeonghan gaining the perfect opportunity to bully you both half to death. And let's not forget the hell and back experience you were subjected to from Seungcheol himself, the man who had once resorted to extreme tactics to get you to quit as he was reminded of the oh so humiliating experience he went through every time he saw your face. But somehow, it all worked out in the end, and you couldn't be happier about how it turned out.Â
Near the end of your gathering, you couldn't resist the urge to pull out your phone and reveal the most treasured image in your gallery: a photograph capturing two pieces of paper resting on a desk. One paper bore a lengthy paragraph, while the other simply displayed a single, bold sentence:Â
"Take me out on a proper date first!"Â
The photo encapsulated perfectly how you both worked so well with each other. It was a sweet reminder of how unexpectedly love can bloom in the most unconventional of circumstances.Â
As your friends marveled at the photo, you couldn't help but reflect on how far you and Seungcheol had come in such a short time. Despite the initial hurdles and challenges you faced with the man, you were grateful for the bond you now sharedâa relationship built on laughter, friendship, and, of course, a bit of unexpected romance.Â
The end hope you like it !!

some stories arenât yours

âč overview - pairing: wonwoo x mingyu x f!reader | short fic genre: love triangle (but the love interests end up with each other) · fluff
themes: emotional detachment, mutual pining (just not for you), third-wheeling cw: implied past flirtation, gentle romantic rejection
summary: a love triangle where the girl doesnât get the guy. or the other guy. instead, both fall for each other. slowly and awkwardly while she watches it all unfold like a plot twist she accidentally directed.
from kai: my first request! someone asked me to write something inspired by those reverse trope writing prompts with minwon and this one felt like it fit them the best. i really loved writing this silly little story! i had so much fun with it, even though i struggled to find a song that really matched the vibe (still not sure i chose the right one). any recs? iâm all ears.
now playing: can i call you tonight? - dayglow
so technically, you were supposed to be the main character.
it made sense.Â
mingyu was clearly into you.Â
he always texts you first. a random meme, followed by a âthis reminded me of youâ that makes you stare at your screen a little too long. he's all sunshine and chaos and way too much cologne. but he listens when you talk and remembers the tiniest things. he once showed up at your door with your favorite snack after a rough week, like it was no big deal. it kind of is.
you think: this could be something.
but then there's wonwoo. quieter. more subtle. he sends you playlists instead of memes, walks you home when it rains, doesnât say much but always says the right thing. he remembers your catâs name. asks how your mom is doing. texts like he means every word.
you think: oh. maybe itâs him.
and for a while, itâs both.
theyâre also your friends. which complicates absolutely everything.
and so the joke becomes... not a joke. not really.Â
just something you all keep circling around. drinks on a friday night, someone goes âokay but if this were a rom-com...â and someone else immediately groans. mingyu buys you coffee. wonwoo texts you about that weird movie you said you liked. they both show up when you need help moving your couch.
you flirt. a little.Â
they flirt back. more than a little.
youâre not immune.Â
but youâre also not delusional.
so youâre in the middle, two equally attractive but emotionally unavailable men gravitating toward you like itâs netflix and youâre the plot device.
people ask. so, whoâs it gonna be?
and you honestly didnât know.
mingyu makes you laugh until your stomach hurt. wonwoo makes you think about things you didnât know you cared about. both of them make you feel like something might be about to happen.
and you are happy. because it does feel a little like a love triangle.
you're the common denominator.Â
the center of gravity. youâre not leading anyone on.Â
youâre just⊠seeing where things go.
and theyâre both going. toward you. clearly. until theyâre not.
itâs not like it's obvious. youâre just⊠extremely observant.
and maybe a little too aware of patterns.
like how mingyu starts showing up in photos with wonwooâs cat. like how wonwoo starts driving mingyu home without being asked. like how they start arguing about trivial things like what kind of soy milk is superior and it sounds suspiciously like foreplay.
you donât say anything. you just watch.
you shift from romantic lead to honorary producer. this is your rom-com now, just not in the way you expected. you get front-row seats to whatever this slow-motion pining is.
and honestly? itâs hilarious. especially when neither of them seems to realize itâs happening.
so you start keeping mental score.
wonwoo shows up with coffee for mingyu like itâs instinct: +1
mingyu tells wonwoo he looks good in blue: +1
they argue over who gets the last dumpling and then split it like an old married couple: +4
mingyu calls wonwoo âdarlingâ by accident (you think): +10
at some point, it just becomes entertaining. youâre just sitting with the audience with popcorn, waiting for the kiss scene.
and then thereâs the hoodie situation. wonwoo wears one that looks suspiciously like mingyu's. oversized, dark gray, fraying a little at the cuffs. you say something about it, just to test the waters. and wonwoo freezes for half a second before going âuh. laundry day.â
âsure.â you say, sipping your drink.
âjust make sure your boyfriend gets it back.â
wonwoo, without missing a beat says:
âit's not from a boyfriend. just from mingyu.â
mingyu just shrugs.
the best part is how natural it is after.
you thought it might sting. it doesnât. you thought it might get awkward. it doesnât.
if anything, it gets funnier. theyâre still idiots. just idiots in love now.
they drag you to brunch like nothingâs changed. still text you memes at 2am. still call you when theyâre fighting about whether or not a hotdog is a sandwich.
you get used to seeing them shoulder to shoulder. used to watching mingyu tug the hood of wonwooâs sweatshirt up when the wind picks up, then keep talking like nothing happened. used to wonwoo smiling at his phone like heâs reading poetry when itâs just mingyuâs âu up?â text with eight typos.
you start making bets with yourself about how long until they go fully official. (you win when mingyu soft-launches a couple photo and captions it: i guess iâm the boyfriend now.)
months later, someone asks if you ever had feelings for them. if it was hard watching them fall for each other. you think about it for a second.
about mingyuâs terrible jokes. wonwooâs deadpan delivery. the way they bicker like an old sitcom couple and still always end up sharing dessert. about how you never really wanted to be the center of the story, just close enough to see it unfold.
you smile. ânah...â you say. âit was honestly the best seat in the house.â

Hi! You know what day it's gonna be? Jihoon's birthday! So here is a little something that I wrote while on the treadmill at the gym!
To You Masterlist | Main Masterlist | Next
November 2024: After The Wedding, Tour
You had a plan, a good one to say the least, with the help of Soonyoung and Seungcheol.Â
Operation: Jihoon's Birthday.Â
You had been trying to plan something small for his birthday. Then you all had to pack up and head to Japan for promotions so that was in the gutter.Â
But nevertheless, you were going to get him to the restaurant that Mingyu helped book. The guys were already making their way there quietly. You planned to give Jihoon his gift when you returned, a joke one and an actual one planned.
You had to get him out of the hotel room first.
First step: Getting him dressed.
You pushed the hotel door open, kicking your shoes off and calling out. "What are you doing?"Â
No response.Â
Your soulbond buzzed that he was close so why wasn't he-Â
You looked to where he was, curled up on the bed, headphones on, with his iPad.
He couldn't hear you.Â
Scurrying over, you jumped onto the bed to grab his attention, the action causing him to bounce. Surprise shot through the bond, his head whipping around, only calmed when he noticed it was you.Â
"Ru, what the fuck?"Â
"Get up and get dressed."Â
Hopping off the bed, you went to grab your (his) jacket from your suitcase.Â
"Hello? It's-" Glancing over at his iPad, he frowned. "It's eleven forty-five, Ruby-ah. Why do I need to get dressed?"Â
"Because we are going out?"Â
The confusion flowed in from his side of the bond. He sat and stared at you like you grew a second head.Â
"Why?"Â
"Because we are?"Â
"What are you hiding?"Â
You scoffed, crossing your arms. "Do I need a reason to go out with my soulmate between his busy schedules and this is the only time he has free time?"Â
Apprehension, you could feel it bright as day. You shot back with annoyance.
"No, but..." Jihoon stood, making his way over to you and placing his hands gently on your hips.Â
"But...?"Â
He stared at you, eyes flicking over your face. His arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you into his chest.Â
"I've been neglecting you again, haven't I?"
There was a smidge of guilt in the bond and you shook your head, taking his face into your hands gently. He pouted, looking sorry, and you kissed that look away.Â
"Love, I'm fine. Let's just...let's go out. Please?"Â
He kissed you once more, chaste and sweet, only to nod. "Fine, okay. But can we get food first?"Â
Your eyes lit up and you nodded. "Yeah! Get dressed, I know a place I looked into earlier when you were at the gym-"Â
All he did was chuckle happily as you pushed him away to grab something other than his shorts and muscle t-shirt to wear. He accepted the sweatshirt and joggers, letting you push him towards the bathroom to brush his hair as it stuck in three different directions. You got yourself ready, tossing on a sweater too, knowing you didn't need anything outrageous with the small, late night group dinner you planned.Â
"Do I need my wallet-"Â
"Nope! I got it covered."Â
"Hm.." He stood at the door, shoes on, letting you lean on him as you got yours on as well. "And the place you know is open?"
With a nod, you took his hand, leading him out of the room and straight to the elevator. "Yep." You said, popping the end of the word.Â
It was freezing outside, the cold late fall temperatures of fall seeping through your thick sweater and jacket. Jihoon gripped your hand tightly, staying close to hopefully beat the chill. The bond hummed quietly between you, inviting and cozy, helping fight the weather.
"Do we need a taxi?" He shivered, his teeth chattering.Â
"It's only a block away." You put his arm over your shoulder, holding his waist. "We can make it!"Â
âTough it out?âÂ
You snickered, resting your head against his chest. âTough it out, hot stuff.âÂ
âEw.â He cringed at the impromptu nickname, shaking his head. âNever call me that again.âÂ
âSweet thing? Pretty boy?â You grinned mischievously, looking to see the continued grimace on his face. âOh! I can call you Cupcake like Vi from Arcane!âÂ
âDo not-âÂ
âWhy not, Cupcake?âÂ
You bolted out from under his arm before he could catch you, laughing joyfully as he was hot on your tail. Jihoon chased you down the street, almost getting you, only for you to dodge and escape once more. He called out your name breathlessly, but the bond told you all you needed to know; he was ecstatic.Â
âGet back here-â He grabbed the back of your jacket and pulled you to his chest, strong arms wrapping around you with no chance to break free. âYou are such a punk, why did I marry you?âÂ
âBut you love me!â You cheered, leaning forward in his arms as you laughed carefree. You stood and took his left hand in your own, the two rings staring back at you in the street lights. âAnd you wouldn't have it any other way.âÂ
Gently he spun you in his hold, another shiver wracking through his body and he pressed his forehead to yours, nose to nose. âYeah, I wouldn't.âÂ
Your hands found his and you laced your fingers together, basking in the closeness of your soulmate. âLetâs get going.âÂ
When you moved to pull back, Jihoon only kept you close, shaking his head some. âOne more minute. You are always around, but I miss you.âÂ
âYeah well, we went from getting married to another tour so blame your management.â You joked, pecking his lips. âBut, maybe after the new year we can finally book our honeymoon before you go into the military.âÂ
âDonât remind me.â He groaned, huffing out a cloudy breath from the cold air. âBut at least I can still have you close to me.âÂ
âCome on, loser, I know you are hungry.â You let one of his hands go, spotting the lit sign of the restaurant not far down.
Jihoon was the first to swing your hands between the both of you, following your strides towards the restaurant. He stopped outside, seeing the lights inside were off and the shades were drawn, almost like it was closed.Â
âAre you sure it is open?âÂ
âMhmm~â You tugged him towards the door, humming gleefully to yourself.Â
Pulling the door open, you were still met with the dark interior. Jihoon went to question your abrupt entrance into the restaurant, only for the lights to flicker on and a loud, out of tune cheer from his group members wishing him a happy birthday.Â
Jihoon jumped at your side, bewilderment rushing through the bond, but you only laughed, jumping happily at his side.Â
âHappy birthday!â You joined the cheer, grabbing his face and kissing his cheek a few times.Â
There was a pink flush to his cheeks, clearing his throat as he muttered out a thank you loud enough for the rest to hear.Â
âLetâs eat!â Seokmin exclaimed, raising his hands, a chopstick in each. âFor the birthday boy!âÂ
The night wasâŠrowdy, fun, but most importantly, a great celebration.Â
Between the wedding, tour, and so much more, things were busy, tiring, and they didn't have enough time to rest. You were glad that everyone had a good time and you could feel how happy Jihoon was the entire time you were at the restaurant. When everyone was finished and ready to turn in for the night, you were glad to walk in your group towards the hotel, still cracking jokes and enjoying the time spent together.Â
Good nights were shared through the hall, probably accidentally waking any staff that had long gone to bed. It was late, later than you all should have been awake, but nothing you could do about it now.Â
âDid you have a good night?âÂ
Jihoon looked up from his phone, having received a text from his parents at some point around midnight. He hummed quietly, nodding, opening his arms for you to join him in bed. When you didnât jump over right away, he raised a brow but you brought over two boxes, one small, and another a medium sized.Â
âI need to give you your birthday presents first before we go to sleep. Start with this one.â Handing the smaller one over first, you let him sit up and take it, watching him undo the bow you tied.Â
Jihoon scoffed upon opening it, but it quickly turned into a quiet chuckle, pulling the sleek black wallet out. âReally?âÂ
Your shoulders shook in a silent laugh, nodding. âSo you arenât raw dogging your cards in your pocket anymore. I swear you are going to lose it one day.âÂ
âI will not.â He protested, placing it aside and you handed over the second box.Â
Placing it in his awaiting hands, you grinned wide as he opened it, letting him find one of the beat maker pads he had been eyeing online for about a month. He was going to wait until you both got home to get it butâŠyou might have had other plans when you saw it on his phone when totally not going through his online search history.Â
âYou gotta stop doing this, these are expensive.â He scolded, but his eyes were bright, looking over the box. âBut thank you for both of these, I will use both, promise.âÂ
âHmâŠI like to spoil my soulmate, what can I say?â
âMhmm, sure, love.â He let you place both boxes aside and pulled you down into bed, getting comfortable to sleep through whatever was left of the night.Â
He lazily places small kisses to your face, drawing small giggles and squeaks out of you, murmuring sweet nothings of appreciation as your efforts.Â
âIâll make sure we get time for our honeymoon.âÂ
You pulled him in for a sweet kiss, letting your foreheads rest together. âAs long as Iâm with you, I am happy wherever we are. Happy birthday, Jihoon.â

the salty sea air was oddly soothing every time you took a deep breath through your nose. the amaranthe hadnât even left the dock yet and your heart was ready to burst from your chest completely. the excitement that came with a much needed change of scenery mixed with anxiety of water travel seemed to provoke your increased heart rate.Â
youâd never been on a cruise before. in fact, most of your memories with the water involved canoeing or kayaking on the lake in your youth, the wobbling from the tiny boats heightening your anxiety. come to think of it, you werenât exactly sure why youâd taken the job as a cruise line photographer. after all, you could only reassure yourself so many times that the 200,000 ton ship was highly unlikely to sink.Â
besides.. you werenât one to complain about free food, drinks and a chance to finally see the caribbean. Â
with the pink and blue patterned strap around your neck, you held on securely to your camera with both hands. one advantage of being a staff member (technically) was boarding the boat and getting situated before anyone else. waivers had been signed, allowing you to snap beautiful candid shots of every aloof and eccentric guest boarding the large ship.Â
youâd never seen so many chanel pantsuits in your life. or giant hats, for that matter. a few guests nodded towards you with decently friendly smiles, a few ignored you. one man, whom you immediately recognized from countless newspaper headlines and good morning america appearances, caught one tiny glimpse of you with a camera in your hand and glared harshly after the flashâs impact barely reached his eyes.
âdelete that,â he barked at you.
you chuckled nervously, feeling your heart drop to your stomach. âwhat?â Â
âdelete that. right now.âÂ
you could have argued with him. you could have chewed him out for signing a waiver he clearly didnât properly read through. you could have pleaded with him not to yell at you, someone who was just doing their job. hell, even a simple explanation for his hostility would have satisfied you. yet.. the sight of his insufferable friends laughing sleazily at the exchange was a righteous contender for your most embarrassing moment of all time.Â
so you complied. you stepped closer, showing him the perfectly timed photo on your tiny screen. his eyes were narrowed in your direction, his knuckles white around his large suitcase- you wouldâve laughed if he wasnât currently breathing over your shoulder. you quickly deleted it, the previous guestâs photo taking its place on the tiny screen.
âthere. itâs gone.â you looked back towards him, managing a decent enough smile with false sympathy. âiâm really sorry about that, mr. carlisle-â
he grumbled in response, leading the rest of his team further onto the ship. snickers and guffaws filled the air as they shuffled through the main hall, only furthering the aching sensation in your chest and giving rise to a dry, awful taste in your mouth. years spent working in customer service clearly had done little to train you for a little berating every now and then.Â
âi wouldnât think too much of it.â
a gentle voice behind you captured your attention, shocking you away from your trance and prompting you to whip your head back. a man with jet black hair to his neck and a modest button down shirt stood not too far away from you, his features angelic and his smile laced with the utmost sympathy.Â
you chuckled and shrugged your shoulders dismissively. âi guess youâre right. i shouldâve known some of these guys couldnât be bothered to read the fine print.âÂ
âespecially not carlisle,â he chuckled, a knowing smirk twisting his pouty lips.Â
you raised an eyebrow, stuttering as you asked, âyou know him?â
he brushed off your apologetic expression with a nod, explaining, âiâve been working with him for a while now, yeah. i recently got promoted to the rank of senior salesman at his company. so.. i guess you could say i know better than anyone that he can be..â
âarrogant?â you offered, snickering.
âi was gonna say a bit of a dickhead, but that works too,â he laughed, and it must have been the most infectious sound youâd heard. he extended his hand, a silent offer for you to do the same. âjeonghan.â
ây/n,â you cautiously let go of your camera in favor of shaking his hand, offering another smile of gratitude. it wasnât long before the kodak found its way in the security of both of your palms. âi should get back to it, but.. it was nice meeting you.â
âyeah, see you around.â
he left your side but his presence seemed to linger.. there was something about the young stranger that was incredibly captivating. the mysterious knowledge in his large eyes, the smirk that seemed to be fixed upon his lips.. he looked, for lack of a better word, quite devilish. but in the best way possible. youâd love to spend even just five minutes with him and attempt to pick his brain apart.
eventually, the withdrawn captain announced that the boat would be leaving the port very soon. your expensive camera, being the top priority, lingered around your neck without your hands leaving either side of it for even a split second. you found the closest empty seat (a barstool, which was a lot less desirable), trying to think about anything besides the fact that in just a moment or two, you would be stranded in the middle of the sea with a bunch of snobby, uptight strangers. at least the ship had enough buoyancy not to rock just as you remembered the tiny canoe from decades earlier had. Â
everythingâs fine, everythingâs just fineâŠÂ
you must have taken to audibly reassuring yourself this time around because a faint chuckle sounded from behind the bar. as you hurriedly lifted your chin, you werenât sure how you hadnât noticed the bartender until now; he was handsome. so, so incredibly handsome. he didnât even seem real.Â
he was tall with beautiful tanned skin and short jet black hair. he wore a dark polo, accentuating his broad shoulders and biceps.. you couldnât help but stare as he shook the cocktail bottle vigorously. he went wide eyed when you caught him in his gentle, quiet fit of laughter, resembling a deer in headlights.Â
âoh- sorry, i didnât-âÂ
âno, no itâs fine,â you laughed, feeling blood rush to your cheeks and hoping to hell that your smile didnât look too idiotic. âis it obvious iâve never been on a boat before?âÂ
he raised his eyebrows, surprise taking over his features. ânever?â
you shook your head, smiling hesitantly and sheepishly. âno. i mean, iâve been to the lake as a kid, of course but- iâve tried to stay far away from the ocean. until now, i guess.âÂ
he nodded with a bright smile, pouring another guestâs drink into a frighteningly large martini glass and setting it aside. then he devoted his full attention to you, wide eyes filled with warmth and.. dare i say curiosity. normally, this particular bartender prided himself upon his exemplary customer service.. but normally he was never gifted with a pleasant distraction. the least he could do was chat with you, at least for a little while.Â
âso.. whatâs someone with a crippling fear of the ocean doing on a cruise ship?â he asked with a gentle laugh.Â
âgood question,â you snickered, holding up your camera. âi was hired to take some photos for the line this week. i guess.. rich people anywhere means good publicity.âÂ
he nodded again in understanding. âis it worth the seasickness, though?âÂ
you pressed your lips to a thin line- the possibility of dabbling in seasickness somehow never crossed your mind. âmaybe.. but i mean- iâm basically being paid to go on vacation so iâm not complaining. iâm sure you understand. it must be really cool, working as a bartender on a cruise ship.âÂ
he chuckled again, bowing his head for just a moment and pondering. suddenly the space, the bar, between the two of you seemed too prominent. too much of a reminder that technically speaking, both of you were still on the clock. âhmm⊠i guess iâve been on this boat too long to call it a vacation at this point.âÂ
âreally?â you chuckled in disbelief.Â
âi mean, donât get me wrong, itâs still really cool. i get to travel a lot, see places i never thought iâd see.. but-â he paused, briefly tilting his head to the side and biting his cheek. âi donât know. maybe thatâs how disneyland employees feel. the magicâs not really.. yours.âÂ
you understood where he was coming from. after all, the luxuries on the ship werenât really his to enjoy.. sure he got free meals, drinks and a decent enough view of the water from the bar. but the activities, the sunbathing, the leisure in and of itself didnât belong to him. it could always be worse, of course. or.. so he kept telling himself. Â
âyou know how they call them cast members? not employees?â you chuckled, watching the man in front of you smile giddily at your response. âdo they call you guys anything special?âÂ
he shook his head and you couldnât help the snicker that escaped your lips. he was so charming without even trying too hard, so funny without so much as a word.. no one had been able to bring that same heat to your cheeks or that giddy smile to your lips in quite a while. you quickly found yourself wanting to chase that feeling..
âi have no idea what theyâd call us anyways. sailors?âÂ
âgood point.â
you bowed your head, suddenly feeling quite bashful. both of you sat in silence for a moment while you inwardly berated yourself and searched for another conversation starter. really you were desperate to keep talking with him. he was so.. so cute that you couldnât pull yourself away.Â
luckily, he spoke first. he pointed towards your camera, a small towel still in his hand. âis that a kodak?âÂ
you perked up upon hearing his voice, more so the genuine curiosity laced within his words. you quickly nodded your head, feeling all the more flustered since heâd shined the spotlight on you, so to speak. and his curiosity felt.. real. like he wasnât just making conversation to pass the time.
maybe you were reading into things too much, but you replied with a beam, anyways. âyes. iâve been saving up for one for a really long time. glad i finally get to use it.âÂ
âit looks really cool,â he noted with a tilt of his head. âiâd love to see more of your work sometime..â
âyeah, that would be awesome. and.. iâll be taking a lot this week so iâll be sure to show them to you, maybe get your stamp of approval.âÂ
the bartender chuckled again, surprised at how he felt so comfortable around you in a matter of minutes. he stared at you for a moment through curled lashes, maintaining that bright, vibrant smile. once he finally seemed to catch himself staring, he cleared his throat and snickered. âyeah! yeah, absolutely. keep me updated.â
âperfect.âÂ
another pause of silence.. but oddly enough, this didnât feel awkward. neither of you felt pressured to speak up next, the strong, aching feelings that customized natural anxiety around strangers melting away. was it truly so crazy to feel so comfortable around someone you just met?
he was the first to speak up, his gentle voice lowered. âdo you want a drink? on the house?â
you were quick to shake your head, grinning. âno, thanks. i probably shouldnât drink on the job.â
he laughed again, just a little harder than you expected. it was charming, of course. âweâve got more than just alcohol, you know. we got iced tea, coffee, bottled water..â
you chuckled, listening to his voice trail off and watching his head tilt to the side. he resembled a puppy in every sense of the word; his friendliness, his enthusiasm.. really, the bartending position suited him so well. you wouldnât have been surprised if he, alone, contributed to a majority of the lineâs great reviews.
however, you would soon learn that he had a horrible habit of getting distracted (and would soon feel guilty knowing that you were the main cause of it). someone to your right cleared their throat, terribly loudly at that, startling the two of you and even causing the brawny man across the bar to jump a little bit. you whipped your head in the direction of the untimely cough, preparing an apology before a frown tugged at your lips.
for who else would have been the suspect if not the particularly rude man from earlier?    Â
you felt that you didnât owe him another apology. you watched in silence as the bartenderâs smile fell from his lips, which were pressed to a thin line as he stepped closer to mr. carlisleâs seat. he kept his voice quiet, afraid the man would take offence to any tone even an octave higher. âsorry..how can i help you?â
the man sat a few stools away from you, his prideful exuberance filled to the brim and positively dripping with condescension and self-importance. even the knowing, cocky smile that tugged at his thin lips made you want to reach across the bar and slap it off on your new friendâs behalf. however, a small part of you found the change of expression in the older manâs irises fascinating, witnessing, in real time, a realization hit him.
âmingyu?â he asked in disbelief, chuckling in a manner that made your skin crawl. you hated the way the handsome manâs name sounded coming from this other horrible manâs lips. âwell.. isnât this rich?â
the bartender stayed silent for a moment, clenching his sharp jawline. immediately, you were filled with dread and confusion.. evidently, these two had a really terrible history.Â
the older man barked out another laugh that would have startled you if you werenât watching mingyu so intently for a reaction. you were quick to empathize with him, of course, your heart aching at the sight of such a lively man appearing to feel so dejected in the blink of an eye. you, obviously, were the only one who shared that sentiment.Â
âi gotta say- of all the places i imagined you washing up, i never pictured seeing you here. taking orders for a living, once again.. but i guess if the shoe fits, wear it. right?âÂ
mingyu didnât dare to look in carlisleâs eyes. he felt blinded, overcome with rage as he stared at the marbled bartop, the combined sound of clinking glasses and muzak playing through the speakers growing muffled as he focused only on his slowing heartbeat. âi didnât come here for that,â he bit back miserably.Â
carlisleâs ever present laugh annoyed you for multiple reasons, the sound like nails on a chalkboard. âno, no, i get it,â he âreassuredâ him, the condescension in his voice palpable. âafter you left us, obviously you must have been desperate. itâs completely understandable. gotta pay the bills somehow.âÂ
mingyu refused to look up, even as annoyance filled his voice. âi didnât leave.â
you finally chimed in, having had enough of witnessing such blatant entitlement. âexcuse me, are you gonna just shut up and buy a drink or keep harassing the poor guy?âÂ
he seemed taken aback by your words, by the challenge. as if it was such a rare occasion for him to be put in his place. carlisle quickly brushed off the flustered sentiments, biting back, âor what, youâll snap a few more photos of me without my permission?â
âyeah, i just might,â you snapped.
âoh, alright! then iâll just toss that shitty camera of yours overboard.â
it was your turn to laugh, the surge of newfound confidence unfamiliar yet.. incredibly alluring. quite the contrast from your encounter with carlisle earlier. âiâd like to see you fucking try.â    Â
he rose to his feet and your hands instinctively fell to shield the camera resting on the bartop in front of you. mingyu drew in a deep breath, parting his lips to throw in an interjection before someone beat him to the punch. another man dressed similarly to mingyu but donned with a radio and a bright gold badge stepped between the barstools, effectively putting much needed distance between you and carlisle and blocking the sleazy old man from your line of vision.
the way he seemingly blipped between the two of you felt supernatural. one blink and he was there, hands resting on his hips. oddly enough, despite the circumstances, you werenât unhappy to see your long lost love standing beside you, his authoritative presence immediately defusing the situation. what were the odds..Â
âeverything alright over here?â the guard asked, looking from you, to carlisle, and then back to you again. as the words left his lips, you couldnât recall a time youâd felt more shame; you were never one to cause a ruckus. and for him, of all people, to notice and step in?Â
you were quick to chime in, ignoring your flustered state, ignoring his notable performance (how could he pretend so easily not to know you?). ânot really. this manâs being really rude to my friend so i asked him politely to stop.âÂ
friend?Â
mingyu tried not to let the one beautiful yet inconsequential word, your gentle phrasing, echo throughout his mind for too long. biting back a tiny smile, he quickly shook his head, effectively tousling his gentle curls. âitâs fine, seungcheol.â
he hummed, seeming thoroughly unconvinced. especially considering you, of all people, were behind the altercation. for as long as heâd known you, you never proved to be one to cause a scene.. whatever this man was telling mingyu, a man whom seungcheol had only worked with on two previous occasions, must have been terrible for you to put a man with power and influence in his place. Â
he turned his attention to carlisle, whose face was beet red with frustration; he appeared to have been holding his breath out of spite. he seemed unbothered by the esteemed patronâs demeanor, his own expression blank as he instructed, âjust.. keep your thoughts to yourself, okay, pal? donât want to agitate the guy handling your drinks on the first day of the cruise. or disturb any of the other guests, for that matter.âÂ
carlisle furrowed his eyebrows, scoffing. âseriously? why arenât you getting mad at him?âÂ
âbecause from the looks of it, he hasnât even made you a drink yet and you clearly have no reason to be provoked by him.â
âi think that speaks more to the insubordination of the crew,â carlisle huffed. âmaybe iâll have a little chat with your superior.â
seungcheol chuckled shortly, folding his arms across his broad chest. âgo ahead. heâll tell you the same thing i told you.â he paused, picking up his radio and showing it off to the older man. âi could call him over here, if you want?â
carlisle gazed at the radio in his hand, as if to be seriously contemplating seungcheolâs âoffer.â he avoided your gaze, opting instead to stare daggers at mingyu. then, he finally spoke, his words filling you with so much more rage than you thought possible, âjust.. make me an old fashioned.â
seungcheol chuckled bitterly as mingyu got to work, snapping the tiny mouthpiece back into place. âgood choice. and if i were you, iâd keep the threatening remarks to a minimum, too.â
he walked off with a dismissive nod of his head, leaving you dumbfounded and slightly.. hurt. not for the first time.. you looked towards mingyu, telling him youâd return shortly, before following seungcheol out of the dining area and around the corner. god he was just as handsome as you remembered. his hair was still long and wavy, somehow heâd gained even more muscle during your time apart, though he was still just as tall. and god it angered you.. Â
you called out to him before you could fully comprehend the fact that you were standing not five feet behind him. especially after heâd left you unsure if seeing him ever again was at all a possibility.Â
âhey.â
he stopped in his tracks, pausing before turning on his heel to face you. his expression remained somewhat stoic, emotionless as he gaze slowly shifted from your head to your toes. then... it seemed to finally catch up to him. ây/n? what are the chances?â
âapparently, pretty high,â you retorted.
he scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief. âi guess so.âÂ
you hated how awkward things had become between the two of you. how both of you seemed to forget all about your time together, how it felt like meeting just another acquaintance. the exchange with him earlier only added salt to the wound, allowing him to see you in an unflattering light.
he kept his distance as he spoke, not just physically speaking. even his tone suggested indifference of a sort. âso.. what are you doing here? besides starting fights with random strangers.â
âthat wasnât what you think,â you sighed, glancing down once more at the camera in your hands. âbut iâm here to take pictures for the website. iâm a professional photographer now.â
âright..â he hummed in response, briefly turning his attention to the camera. he furrowed his eyebrows and you couldnât help but wonder if he was struggling to remember your mentioning of an interest in photography. âwell.. just try to be more careful next time.âÂ
âcareful? what do you mean by that?âÂ
âbelieve it or not, some rich people donât really like it when photos of them wind up on the internet. no matter how innocent the photos are.â
you furrowed your eyebrows, scoffing. âwell.. everyone signed a waiver before they boarded. theyâre bound to at least show up in the corner of a photo at any time. itâs not my fault they didnât read the terms and conditions before throwing their money away.â
âyou donât know what these people are like,â he spoke ominously, finally taking a step closer to you. there was a note of hesitance within his words and he looked around, briefly surveying his surroundings before his dark eyes fell to yours. âhe threatened to throw your camera away because $4,000 is nothing to him. whoâs to say he wouldnât do something worse?âÂ
âi can take care of myself,â you assured him with a cocky smile. âbesides.. iâm not so concerned about a camera i keep on my person at all times as i was for mingyu.â
he raised his eyebrows, almost appearing vaguely amused by your words. âyou know him?â
âno,â you answered a little too quickly. âwe were just talking. then carlisle started pestering him for no reason, just like i told you.âÂ
âmingyu can take care of himself. both of you should just forget this ever happened or you could get in a lot of trouble.â
although you hated to admit it, seungcheol brought up an excellent point. you would hate to find out that carlisle, choosing to add insult to injury, got him fired from the cruise line (especially considering their mysterious history). you were sure he could easily get you fired as well; a man with that much wealth and influence undoubtedly had connections in the media.Â
you sighed, âfine. iâll mind my own business from now on.â
âgood.âÂ
you watched him take two steps backwards before turning his back on you fully. helplessly, your eyes remained fixed upon his broad shoulders and arms.. you would have loved nothing more than to run down that hallway to him and allow the man you once loved to catch you in a warm embrace.Â
instead, you called out to him once again, this time with unwanted bitterness, âyouâre still as bossy as i remember.â
he stopped again, and unbeknownst to you, a tiny smile crept upon his pouty lips. âfunny,â he spoke, keeping his eyes on the floor. âyouâve got a lot more bite in you than i remember.âÂ
â
for the rest of the day, you complied with seungcheolâs request and went about your own business. group activities on the upper deck seemed as good an opportunity as any for some website-worthy photos with decent lighting. the first day involved dance classes. tango, mostly. even if you didnât get many pictures, watching lots of patrons without a graceful bone in their body was entertaining enough.Â
oddly enough, feeling so high above the beautiful green and blue waves felt.. comforting. close enough to witness the waves crash against the boat without feeling the gentle splashes against your skin. far enough to stop contemplating the risks of falling overboard and drowning.Â
among the class attendees, oddly enough, was jeonghan. he had partnered up with a young woman close to his own age, most likely a stranger, judging by the way he spoke so shyly with her. you took a few photos of the two of them as they waltzed along the deck, smiling to yourself; they actually made a lovely couple.Â
after group photos were taken and you had a sufficient gathering of material, you leaned against the railing and skimmed through your works. you couldnât help but smile proudly to yourself while skipping through the gallery on the tiny screen, for there was barely a blurry photo in sight.Â
âfancy seeing you up here.â
you looked up to see mingyu standing in front of you carrying a small tray of champagne flutes and donning a bright smile. you watch him set it down carefully, brushing off his hands on the tiny apron wrapped around his waist. his waistâŠÂ
you snapped out of your daze, returning the smile. âso we meet again. is your shift almost over?âÂ
he nodded, keeping that same grin and stepping closer to you until he was leaning back against the railing. âiâve got about an hour left. what about you? or.. are they just letting you do your own thing?â   Â
you chuckled, nodding. âfor the most part, yeah. iâve covered a lot of ground today so i should be good for the rest of the night.â
âoooh what are you gonna do with your time off?âÂ
âiâm not sure yet,â you confessed with a small laugh, looking over to him with wide eyes. try as you might, you couldnât get over just how much larger he was than you, how he seemed to have more energy than you could conjure up even on your best day. it only hurt you to remember someone on the boat, for whatever reason, appeared to have it out for him. âlisten.. iâm really sorry about what happened earlier. i didnât mean to cause a scene; i just hated seeing him talk to you like that.â
his smile faded a tiny bit, his eyes filling with melancholy as he reflected on the embarrassing moment back at the bar. truthfully, he wouldnât have thought much of it if you were not there to witness the entire exchange. he shrugged his shoulders, allowing a half hearted smile. âdonât apologize. i appreciate you sticking up for me like that; you really didnât have to.â
you shook your head immediately in reassurance. âi worked in customer service for a long time, too. i know what it's like to deal with pricks that think minimum wage employees arenât even people.â
âyeah..â he sighed, shrugging once again. âitâs nothing i havenât heard before. iâm just upset iâm stuck on this boat for a whole week with him, of all people.âÂ
you nodded in understanding, snickering. âhopefully he found something wrong with the way you made him that drink earlier. then heâll avoid you like the plague.â
he laughed softly and it relieved you to see him in good spirits again. he had such an infectious little laugh, his smile only growing brighter in his ministrations. âno kidding. we can only hope.â
there was another gentle pause, the two of you watching the dance class attendees slowly break apart from each other in favor of lining up to walk below deck. a few of them lingered, conversing lowly as they partook from the drinks mingyuâd just brought to them. however.. both of you seemed uninterested in anyone else on the deck.Â
âthis is gonna sound crazy,â mingyu started with charming hesitance. âbut would you like to have dinner with me tonight?âÂ
âoh, uh-â your eyes went wide as that familiar heat rushed to your cheeks.. immediately, you didnât want to seem too eager. âare...employees usually allowed to eat with other guests?âÂ
mingyu tilted his head, as if in pondering. âwell.. not usually. but iâm sure it wonât be a big deal; technically youâre a staff member this week.âÂ
you really didnât want to get him in any more trouble after the incident at the bar.. but technically speaking, he was right. you were showed to your room before any of the customers, you had a staff identification lanyard, and you were basically on the clock at all times (in a sense).Â
he seemed to read your mind, already too familiar with your conflicting thoughts. the look of hesitance in your eyes, alone, was a dead giveaway. âdonât feel pressured, please,â he assured you. âwe donât have to if you donât feel comfortable. i just thou-âÂ
âno, no,â you interrupted, your eyes immediately finding his again. âi want to.â
âgreat,â he laughed gently and smiled in relief. âyeah, yeah thatâs great. should we just meet in the dining area around.. seven, maybe?âÂ
âseven sounds great.âÂ
âgreat,â he let out another little laugh, speaking more to just how flustered he felt. âsorry, i gotta clean up now, but iâll see you then?âÂ
âyeah, yeah, of course. iâll see you then.â
it was almost comedic, the way you both waved awkwardly to each other, nodded, and parted ways. once your back was fully turned on him, however, you broke into a giddy smile and chuckled to yourself- this was definitely not the direction you expected your (not so) vacation to go in.Â
â-
moving on from a serious partner years after a relationship was one thing. having dinner with someone while on the same boat as the aforementioned partner was another thing entirely. it seemed more like a plotline from a sitcom than your own experience; especially seeing as you were technically on the clock.Â
you had to smile at the absurdity of it all, a small laugh leaving your lips as you stepped out into the deserted hallway. the few hours you had to kill before your âdateâ seemed unending and you were dying of boredom. what better time to figure out the layout of the ship?Â
near the staffâs reserved floor was a mysterious door, just at the end of the hallway. it wasnât numbered, there was a gentle glow peeking from the cracks in the doorway, there was a faint humming coming from the other side.. perhaps a security control room?Â
the door whipped open before you could contemplate being even more nosy. you stepped backwards, stumbling a bit, before seungcheol stepped out and glared at you. it wasnât harsh by any means..moreso conveying his confusion.Â
âwhat are you doing down here?â he asked, placing his hands on his hips.
âiâm staying down here,â you stated a little more haughtily than intended. still..you couldnât bring yourself to apologize.
âoh. wouldâve assumed youâd be staying up with the rest of the guests.â
you snickered, âi wish.â
seungcheol seemed annoyed to be crossing paths with you once again. not that you could blame him, of course, it was incredibly awkward. the tension between the two of you was palpable and both of you felt pained to even make eye contact. he drew in a deep breath, his chest rising with the impact before he finally sighed heavily.
âcan we talk for a second?â he asked, tilting his head towards the mysterious door.Â
âin there?â you asked, raising an eyebrow.
âwhy not?â he shrugged.
once he opened the door by just a tiny crack, you were unsure why you bothered to comply with his request. the room was tiny, most of the space taken up by a large desk donned with monitors. live footage of several parts of the ship were displayed upon the screens, most notably near the edges of the ship. wires were scattered all over the floor, making it difficult to take a step without the fear of tripping. or worse, compromising the expensive equipment.Â
you stood in front of him with your arms folded, finally tilting your head up to look in his eyes. god youâd missed his eyes.. âwhat?â you demanded quietly.
he sighed again at your response, moving a hand to brush through his hair. âiâm sorry about the way things went down earlier. carlisleâs company has been cruising with us for a while, heâs been cruising with us for a while.. so i know how he reacts when people provoke him.â
there it was, that sinking feeling in your chest. seungcheolâs words, gentle and unassuming as they may have been to anyone else, sounded ominous. âi understand. youâre just trying to keep the peace.â
âmore than that,â he chuckled faintly, briefly looking down at the floor. your feet had no space on the ground, your ballet flats nearly kissing his tennis shoes.. you were less than a breathâs distance away from him, yet.. you seemed so far away.Â
putting his complicated feelings aside, he continued lowly, âi donât think you know how powerful he really is.â
âi already told you iâd mind my own business,â you reminded him with a shake of your head. âi donât need you looking after me. alright? you had your chance and you blew it.â
he paused, allowing you to watch him part his beautiful lips once he seemingly drew a blank. it felt as if you were watching your spiteful words sink in for him, and admittedly, you hated the sight. âyou..â he started, swallowing. âyou canât put what happened between us in the past?âÂ
âi already have. but have you?â
it felt cold in the tiny room, the tiny hairs on your arms rising, as if being called to defense. you kept your arms folded across your chest, hanging onto hopes of a response from him, an explanation for his abandonment, perhaps even an apology.. but it never came. the unnerving silence only reminded you of the cold, over and over again..Â
âalright,â you finally forced a smile, sighing heavily. as you reached for the door, it brought you closer to him, your chest briefly pressing against his. and you hated how it brought butterflies to your stomach. you hated reflecting how youâd spent month after month missing his embrace.Â
he took half a step backwards, bringing his back to the wall to give you more space. you heard him sigh, the sound filled with annoyance. he always did have a habit of muttering under his breath after an argument. but that was long ago. you didnât have to argue with him anymore.Â
you turned around to face him one more time, your gaze softening. âletâs just..get through this week without any drama. can we do that?â
âyeah. yeah we can.â
there was so much more he wanted to ask you about the whole exchange..for example, why were you so quick to jump to mingyuâs defense? were you lying about a history with him, or lack thereof? he also wanted to explain his reasoning for pretending the memory of you eluded him.Â
but he had no time. he watched you walk down the hallway, resisting the urge to follow you. to call out for you. to do anything. because heâd finally come to realize that maybe you were right. maybe the time for him to speak up had come and gone and he was now left at a standstill of his own making.Â
â
you kept resisting the urge to pinch yourself while walking down the hall and through the dimly lit dining area; never in your wildest dreams did you imagine living out your titanic fantasy in real time. you never imagined finding yourself on one of the most expensive cruise ships, on a free trip, for that matter. yet in hindsight, you only wished youâd brought one of your nicer outfits; a tanktop and shorts just didnât feel like the standard uniform for fine dining. Â
the first date jitters seemed to finally catch up with you. any move you made felt awkward, you werenât sure what to do with your shaking hands, your stomach was beginning to twist into knots.. and once you got a whiff of the salty air, it only heightened your anxieties.Â
but you found it so easy to talk with him just a few hours earlier.. why were you just now feeling so nervous?
you spotted him sitting near the railing, keeping his distance from the other patrons. you were relieved to see he dressed similarly to you in a checkered button down and dark blue shorts. his hair seemed to get even more curly during your time apart, somehow, his dark locks just barely brushing against his infuriatingly long eyelashes. he seemed a little nervous, tense, but overall calm- he barely made a move besides wringing his hands.Â
before stepping closer to him, you allowed yourself a deep breath- reminding yourself that at the end of the day, he was just another man. there was a small chance that anything would become of this dinner, anyways; there was no point in overthinking it. even if mingyu had seemed to occupy all of your thoughts..Â
âhey,â you called out to him timidly.
he perked up, grinning and clumsily rising to his feet once his eyes found yours. âoh, hey. long time, no see.âÂ
âright?â the two of you shared a quick hug, one that quickly left you wanting more the moment he broke the embrace. he was so warm, his broad arms carefully draping around yours in a gentle, comforting manner, almost like a heated blanket. maybe you were just imagining things, but you could have sworn you heard his heart racing near the shell of your ear.
after your orders were put in, mingyu leaned forward a little bit, his chin resting in the palm of his hand as he stared at you with such heartwarming attentiveness. he waited for a moment before asking, his tone low, âwhy donât you tell me a little more about yourself?âÂ
you chuckled after taking a sip from the tiny bottle of sprite, hoping it would soothe some of the seasickness. âwell, what do you wanna know?âÂ
âanything and everything,â he chuckled sweetly.Â
it felt as if youâd forgotten literally every detail about yourself, large and small, after being put on the spot. you chuckled again, letting out a gentle hum of contemplation. âwell..i donât really know. i work freelance most of the time-â
âwait,â he interrupted, gently holding up his other hand. âiâm so sorry, but- can we not talk about work? i just.. want us both to forget about that stuff for a while. i wanna know more about you.â
in your mind, it was a completely understandable request. to be completely forthright, you rarely wanted to talk about work with anyone else in a social setting if you could help it. there always seemed to be something more interesting to talk about. if a worthy distraction from societal pressures presented itself, wouldnât you want to entertain it?
so you laughed lightly, watching his gaze fall to your hand as you tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear. âtrust me, i have no problem with that,â you assured him before pausing. âhonestly.. i donât do a lot in my free time. iâm growing tomatoes and peas on my terrace, i read, i love seeing movies, i have a cat.â
he hung onto every word you spoke, nodding with his chin in his palm. one word stuck out to him in particular, however, bringing him to raise his eyebrows. âooh, i love cats. what kind do you have?âÂ
âsheâs a manx cat, sheâs really sweet. here, i have so many pictures.â you heard him let out another sweet laugh as you pulled out your phone, displaying almost an entire gallery of pictures of the beloved cat. âher nameâs bella.â
âawww,â he beamed, carefully swiping through the unending photographs. âbella. wow, sheâs really cute; iâm happy for you. iâd love to have a cat. or even a dog.â
âno time for pets?â
ânot really,â he shrugged. âiâm out at sea most of the time, probably home one or two days out of the week. if that.â
âmaybe some day,â you nodded, offering a smile of hope and reassurance. âbut iâm talking your ear off. tell me- what do you like to do on the ship whenever you have downtime? or on land for that matter?âÂ
mingyu chuckled again, the gentle laugh warming your heart. âwell.. it depends on wherever we land, but most of the time iâll try to see at least a little bit of the attractions before i get some rest. i..really love trying new food so iâll check out some of the restaurants. but..yeah, i donât know. i like movies too, thank god i can bring my laptop. i love going to the theatre. a lot lately, especially.â
âmovie theatres are the best. i feel like no one appreciates theatres these days, with all the streaming services and whatnot.â
âagreed. honestly it makes me really sad; going to the movie theatres always makes me feel so nostalgic. like iâm escaping the here and now.â
âi totally get that. hopefully that changes soon.â
he shared a few bites of his own meal with you and it surprised you to see how openly generous and sweet he was. it was a breath of fresh air, honestly, yet it was so typical that you could only meet a guy like this on the ocean. he spent most of the meal staring into your eyes, if not brushing his fingers through your hair in his imagination.
âcan i ask you something?â you spoke shyly.
âgo on, ask anything.â
âthat guy, carlisle-â you paused, guilt creeping up on your heart as you watched his expression slowly change. âit sounded like you used to work for him, right?â
he nodded, his jaw subtly clenching at the horrible memory. âyeah, thatâs right.â
âand he..fired you?â you asked him cautiously, afraid to reopen the wounds.
he shifted a little bit in his chair, crossing his legs under the table. âi worked with him straight out of college. it was great at first; i made friends at his company, i made enough to start paying off my student loans. then.. i started working more closely with carlisle and saw his darker side. thereâs a lot that goes on behind closed doors no one knows about, like.. he sees people below him as.. really below him.Â
âi donât really wanna go into specifics, if thatâs okay, but..just know he was really horrible to some of his staff. really horrible. i did something really stupid and threatened to expose him and then..â
âand then?âÂ
he sighed heavily, his gaze falling to his now empty plate. âhe planned this party for me, celebrating that promotion heâd offered me a few weeks back. he invited the whole company, all his friends. then he.. showed everyone a video of me threatening him and iâd never realized how pathetic i looked in front of him. then he fired me.â
you felt like crying as he told his story. actually, you felt like doing more than crying, more than giving carlisle a verbal berating. from what youâd come to learn about mingyu, he didnât seem like the type of person to deserve such a devastating public humiliation.Â
âiâm..really sorry,â you frowned. âi always thought something about him seemed so fake. itâs always the filthy rich people.â
he shrugged. âitâs over now. iâm trying to forget about it and enjoy this next chapter, whatever it might bring. iâve.. met some really great people. like you.âÂ
âyeah, definitely. iâm glad to have met you too.âÂ
you both shared a smile, your eyes falling to the table as mingyu laid his palm upwards, silently reaching for your hand. without much of a thought you let your hand fall into his, let him wrap his fingers gently around your palm. his touch was gentle yet assuring, soft yet strong.. it was hard not to get addicted to any semblance of physical contact with mingyu.
âare we finished up here?â he asked, gently squeezing your hand.  Â
âyeah. yeah, i think weâre finished up here.â
your hands only broke apart within the brief time you collectively rose to your feet and pushed the chairs back. once your hands fell together again, neither of you needed to say a word; you led him through the hall down to one of the lower floors of the ship. however, both of you were completely unaware that a certain security guard took notice of your joined hands, the smiles you shared, and was able to brush it off in the blink of an eye.
mingyu walked alongside you, briefly gazing at your hair, your tanktop, your side profile out of his peripheral vision. he felt grateful to even be allowed the smallest glimpse of you. then his hand gently tightened around yours once you both had reached your bedroom door, feeling as if the wonderful moment between you had ended too quickly.Â
he stood directly in front of you, his other hand eventually finding yours and squeezing it just as tight. both of you shared a laugh, as well as the sentiment of not wanting to leave each other.
âwould you..wanna come in for a little while?â you finally asked, hating the shy warble in your voice.
âare you sure?âÂ
âi wouldnât have asked you if i wasnât,â you pointed out with a snicker.
âthen.. in that case, yes. i will.âÂ
it wasnât a suite by any means, but you were in no position to complain. you traveled light, the suitcase standing upright near your bed still unpacked. you also kept your room clean, nothing on the table except your camera and laptop. it was dimly lit by a small lamp in the corner of the room; overall it was very cozy.Â
you turned around, facing him again with a small smile and trying to ignore your now racing heart. âwell.. this is me.âÂ
âitâs nice,â he laughed sweetly. âyou keep it really clean in here.âÂ
âi guess itâs only been less than a day-â you chuckled, âbut..thanks.âÂ
silence fell, the kind that welcomed tension. you watched mingyu swallow and step closer to you, moving his large hand to cup your jaw. âcan⊠can i-âÂ
âplease-âÂ
your anxious heartbeat, your shaking hands.. you forgot all about it once his lips finally found yours and his arms fell around your waist. he lets out a gentle sigh into the kiss and your heart immediately melts as you feel his contentment, his relief. heâs so attentive towards you it brings a smile to your lips, which he quickly returns.Â
soon, with your arms draped around his neck you took a step backwards until the backs of your knees reached the bed. neither of you broke the kiss as he gently maneuvered you onto the tiny mattress and settled comfortably against you while still ensuring you, too, were just as comfortable.Â
he broke the kiss in favor of connecting his forehead with yours, his hand still practically glued to your cheek. he smiled through his chuckle as he felt you cling onto his biceps to ground yourself, tugging at the fabric of his shirt-Â
âis.. there anything off the table?â he asked you shyly.Â
âno.âÂ
( stay tuned for part 2 )

Quick Tarot Celeb Readings III
May 10, 2025
Some questions are straightforward and require less time to answer. That's why I created this to make it easier.

đ "hello!! I really like your readings! Could u do a reading about vernon from seventeen and yunjin from lesserafim? I know that is kinda random but both of them comes from NY so i wonder if they have ever talked ( would be cool )."
đčThey often run into each other at work, but the interaction is always strictly professional. They never tried to become friends or get closer, possibly because theyâre quite different and neither seemed interested in building a bond.
đ "hi, can you do a reading dynamic between actor chae jong hyeop & actress kim so hyun? they previously starred in a drama together (serendipity's embrace) as the main leads. Is there something special about their relationship? And how do they see each other?"
đčShe used to like him more than just a colleague and eventually confessed her feelings. However, he didnât feel the same, which left her heartbroken. Theyâre not in contact now, though they both remember the time they spent together fondly. She still hopes for a sign from him. They have mutual friends who might know what happened.
He sees her as very direct and hardworking but sometimes hard to deal with. She sees him as kind, honest, but indecisive and in need of others' advice. She once felt a strong connection with him.
đ "This will be the first time I'm going to make a request... I wanted to ask you to do a reading of two idols that I feel something between them, I just don't know what it is, it's Hoshi from SVT and Yunjin from LSSFM... I don't know If you are going to make my request, know that I loved all your posts đ and sorry if there are any mistakes, it's because English is not my first language. IM Brazilian đ§đ· "
đčThereâs nothing between them. Theyâre probably not even friendsâjust acquaintances or former coworkers.
đ "is there any tea about kep1er"
đčThere are one or more members in the group with behaviors that can be considered toxicâoften related to partying, drinking too much, or saying inappropriate things. It's unclear if there are underage members, but some display habits that involve excess and unhealthy patterns.
Thereâs also internal competition in the group. Sometimes one member starts an argument, and it turns into a debate where opinions clash and sides are taken, creating a tense atmosphere.
One member is currently struggling financially and is supporting their family as well.
đ "can u do louis perspective of the people liam had in his life be it love / friendship? does he feel liam had the wrongins around him? cause im pretty certain liams "inner cirlce" never had his back."
đčLouis feels that Liam got too comfortable in that lifestyleâwith the people, the routineâand stopped noticing how harmful it was. He believes Liam had many chances to start fresh, build new, healthier relationships, reconnect with old friends, and focus on family.
But instead, he remained isolated. Even if it didnât look like it, Liam was experiencing deep loneliness and emptiness.
Louis thinks Liam wasted a lot of time on conflicts, trying to prove himself right, and silently battling anxiety and fear. He also faced financial difficultiesâpossibly from gambling or spending on things that didnât matter.
đ "Can you do reading on Andrew garfield and his best friend Eleanor matsuura, there seems to be rumors about them not being friends anymore because of the witch( kate tomas ) andrew dated."
đčI think the rumors are true. It seems he decided to end the friendship and is waiting for an apology.
More than one person may have been involved in the situation, which appears to have been work- or money-related.
One of them expected something in return and ended up feeling betrayed. There was a toxic dynamic in that professional relationship.
đ "Nayeon and mingyu relationship?"
đčThey have no connectionâneither romantic nor friendly. They're living completely different experiences and arenât connected in any way right now.
đ "alex turner and louise verneuil dynamic reading"
đčTheir bond is shallow and toxic, despite feeling drawn to each other. They play mind games, are a bit obsessed with one another, and often act out to get attention. Heâs immature and impulsive; she may be younger or equally immature. He saw her as a career opportunity when she entered his life.
đ "hi i just want to ask if its possible for jungkook to do a solo world tour this year or next year? (theres some rumor about it so i'm curious) thank you :)"
đčItâs very likely heâll announce a tour soon. Jungkook is nervous but ready for a major shift in his career.
đ "Hi, I'm a new follower. If I ask you to read about RosĂ© and the Korean actor Hwang Min-Hyun, will you do it?"
đčTheyâre not connected in any wayânot as friends or colleagues. They probably only know each other by name.

This is a oneshot series inspired by @sousydive and I's constant fangirling over svt. There is a series in works, so whatever storyline doesn't fit there, goes into the oneshot plots here. Stay tuned for the separate series I'm working on ! Thank you. p.s. none - if not all of it - is proofread, nor is this an accurate representation to the idols themselves, this is completely fiction and a work made by Â©ïž seventhcallisto here on tumblr. Please do not repost, copy, or plagiarize my works.
