#and mikasa got the shittiest one

Watching everyone somehow enjoy the ending while you sulk in the corner, cause you read the last chapter 2 years ago and have been hating it ever since:

You know the problem with Mikasa and Eren’s relationship is not even the fact that Mikasa has vowed to follow him and stick by him no matter what. The problem is the way it’s portrayed. Mikasa is always giving 200% while Eren barely gives 50 in the relationship. The way Mikasa heavily relies on him but he does not do the same. There is a gross imbalance of power in this dynamic that you can’t deny.

While he is able to say whatever he wants to her and have a huge impact on her actions and feelings, what she says to him — if she even says anything since they never let her speak her mind about things which is another problem — in turn holds barely any value to him because at the end of the day, he will do what he wants and Mikasa knows that and that’s the problem. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t even bother voicing her opinions anymore. The relationship is not reciprocated properly. One person is giving way too much while the other does not give enough.

Not only that, but the fact that it’s always shown in this ambiguous “will they/will they not” romantic lens makes it even worse. Who wants a partner like that whether it be platonic or romantic? At least if it was made clear that it was a sibling dynamic, his behavior would be a lot more bearable and I would be able to stomach it.

Obviously a lot of this also has to do with Mikasa’s ackerman bond and childhood trauma but that’s another conversation.

I don’t have a problem with that kind of dynamic honestly.... When Done Properly. If we take yumikuri/yumihisu in contrast: Ymir is probably in the same position as Mikasa, but the difference is that throughout their whole arc, Historia actually reciprocated Ymir’s feelings and actively gave as much in the relationship as Ymir was. When Ymir was being an asshole Historia made sure to let her know. When Historia was not being true to herself Ymir also chastised her for it. They both listened to what the other had to say. They were a team, they were in sync and on the same page. Ymir’s words and actions had as much impact on Historia as hers on Ymir. And most importantly, Ymir was never made to feel or be seen as dumb or silly or pathetic about Historia’s position in her life. If we take the ackerman bond into account, Erwin and Levi’s dynamic also shows mutual trust and respect but I won’t get into it.

The point is, while Eren’s treated Mikasa like a nuisance 9 times out of 10 — even while knowing what she’s been through and why she is the way she is — Mikasa still sees and treats him like the second coming of christ and I’m just not okay with that.

Since the recent chapters seem to be pointing to a severance in their relationship and some potentially delicious Mikasa development, I can only hope upcoming chapters deliver but honestly it was long overdue, I’m just super tired.

More than anything, I really do hope she gets to express herself to Eren as well and gets some things off her chest. And none of that “when you wrapped your scarf around me” or “you’re my family” or any other vague/rose-tinted narrative bullshit because we already know that. I need her to express herself genuinely, in a raw and critical way because you can’t tell me she hasn’t felt deeply hurt by him multiple times throughout the series, especially present time given their most recent encounter.

Just like Mikasa, Annie has always been a pretty quiet character, more on the observant side but she’s been more honest and vocal, expressing herself extensively more and more since she got out of the crystal which I am beyond ecstatic about, so I can only hope Mikasa gets the chance to do the same and not just with Eren but with other characters and herself as well.

Bad Timing (Levi x reader) Part 10

Summary: How do you tell your friends that you’re falling for your big brother’s best friend?

The loud buzzing of the tattoo gun was beginning to annoy Levi. The little pricks less annoying than the drone of the machine. He winced as the needle skimmed over a sensitive bit of skin.

"Try not to flinch." Farlan scolded as he readjusted his grip.

"Tch, sorry." Levi apologized through gritted teeth. Farlan reached for a wipe to clean off the excess ink, revealing the nearly finished piece. Like his other tattoos, this one was no different, the design was drawn out in thin delicate lines of ink. He had chosen to get this one on his tricep. Farlan spun his chair around to show Levi the design in the mirror, a flower, more specifically a lily of the valley. More specific yet, the flower for the month of May, the month his mother was born.

He nodded in appreciation a she admired the thin stem that led up to delicate bell shaped petals. The stems faded into a two leaves at the base of the design, they were all that needed to be filled in before the piece was complete.

"It looks good." Levi mused as he stared at the aggravated skin, the black lines were outlined with red angry skin.

"Thanks, I must admit I'm a bit rusty." Farlan chuckled as he leaned in with another wipe to clean the tattoo.

"Could've fooled me." Levi muttered as he turned in his chair to give Farlan better access.

"Let me finish this up and then we can go grab some lunch." Farlan gave the tattoo one last wipe down before he wrapped it in sandiderm. Once he was pleased with his work he tugged off the gloves and tossed them into the trash.

"Sounds good." Levi grunted as he stood up from the chair. Farlan had picked up tattooing as a side hustle, not that he booked many clients. It was more of a hobby for him, but he was rather good at it. As Farlan cleaned up the equipment and packed it back into his bag Levi went into the bathroom to wash up before they left for lunch. Isabel was out with friends, she hadn't been particularly interested in visiting the University with Levi and Farlan.

Levi trailed a few paces behind Farlan as they wondered through the sprawling campus. The campus had a dark academic vibe to it, with all the gothic architecture and the snowy lawns. Levi's trip was coming to a close, and he was glad that he had managed to squeeze in the visit. He spoke to an advisor, who was very enthusiastic about him applying. He figured that him coming from a single parent home, being an orphan with dual citizenship and good grades probably looked good for their statistics. So Levi and Farlan left, packets of information that they would need to apply. He decided that he should give Erwin a call, since he would be coming back home on the 26th, he originally intended on coming back after the new year but Hange had convinced him to come back early. Of course it was intended to be a surprise for Erwin and (Y/n), he felt bad for leaving Farlan and Isabel early but he figured that he could make up for the lost time when he got accepted into the University. They would have him all to themselves for four years if everything went according to plan.

"This place looks as good as any." Farlan paused in front of a small pub not too far from campus. Levi shrugged and kicked a chunk of ice out of his way. Farlan held the door open for him as they ducked into the dimly lit bar. The two settled into the barstools facing an impressive stock of alcohol, since it was about three in the afternoon the bar was basically empty save for a scraggly old dude that was mumbling to himself in a booth.

"Come here often?" Levi huffed as he inspected the sticky bar top. Farlan chuckled and waved for the bar tender.

"No actually, but I've heard that it's popular with the uni students." Faralan explained as he waited for the bar tender to finish counting the money in his hands.

"Two gin and tonics please." Farlan asked politely, the bar tender nodded and began to make the drinks.

"So you leave in what five days?" Farlan asked as he grabbed his drink and took a long swig.

"Yeah, sorry it was kind of last minute." Levi apologized, Farlan waved him off dismissively.

"Wait what did you get Isabel for Christmas this year?" Farlan asked as he slammed his already drained glass onto the counter.

"I bought her the DVD set for that one show she likes." Levi answered as he nursed his gin and tonic.

"Ah no way! That's a good one! The veterinary show right?" Farlan gushed, clearly impressed with Levi's choice of gift.

"Yeah that's the one." Levi nodded, a small smirk spreading across his lips.

"She'll love that. I got her some new jeans and a stuffed animal." Farlan shrugged, as he motioned for another drink.

"Not the shittiest choice." Levi mumbled as he brought his glass to his lips.

"Thank you Levi." Farlan held his glass up for a toast, and Levi indulged him, gently tapping his glass against Farlan's. Levi knocked back the rest of his drink before pulling out his phone to check his messages.

"What time should I pick you up from the airport?" Levi pursed his lips in thought before responding to Hange's text.

"Six in the morning."  he typed his response quickly and sent it. He had already planned on arriving early to give himself plenty of time to prepare himself for the annual post Christmas party that your family hosted.

"See you then, don't have too much fun in France!" Hange's reply was instantaneous,  Levi hated to admit it but he missed four-eyes and bushy brows. Hell he even missed Erwin's bratty sister.

You draped your arm over your eyes in a feeble attempt to block out the blinding light that was flooding your living room. Although the snow was pretty, it sure was a bitch when the sun hit it, causing the light to reflect sharply in through the large windows in your living room. It was finally Christmas break, and you were enjoying it to it's fullest, basking in your sweats on the couch. Your mom had just gotten back from grocery shopping and was beginning to set out ingredients for the baking that she had planned to do for the rest of the afternoon. Erwin and Hange had gone ice skating with Mike and Nanaba, and planned to all meet up back at your house to assist your mom with the seasonal baking. Your phone chimed on the coffee table and you stretched to check it.

"Coffee and chill? 🥺" You rolled your eyes at Jean's message. He had been trying to contact you relentlessly for the past week. You had evaded him, not quite ready to confront him about his wrong doings. You ignored his text and instead favored to ask Mikasa if she wanted to come over to bake.

"hey I know it's been a while, but want to come over to bake cookies with me today? You could bring Armin and Eren if you want!" You sighed and dropped your phone back down onto the table with a sigh. You were pleasantly surprised by how quickly she responded.

"What time?"

"an hour?"

"See you then :)"  You smiled at the screen as you read her response. You always thought it was cute how she preferred to use characters instead of emojis when she texted. You decided that a shower would be a good idea since so many people were coming over now, so you hustled up stairs. You were thankful that Hange and Erwin weren't home because they had made a habit of interrupting your showers. Whether it was Hange trying to join you in the shower to "save water" or Erwin coming in to take a massive dump while you were in the shower. So you fully took advantage of your uninterrupted shower time while you could. You took your time, washing your hair and the rest of your body and enjoying the hot water. By the time you were finished the bathroom was cloudy with steam from the hot shower. You wrapped yourself in towel and scurried to your room to change. You pulled on a pair of leggings and a cropped fitted turtleneck. You then proceeded to tug on a faded crew neck to complete the look. You loped down the stairs, but paused about half way down. The sound of shoes being toed off and a coat being hung up made you rethink your decision.

"Oh Kenny! I'm so glad you made it!" Your mom gushed and you bristled. It wasn't that you didn't like Kenny, it was just that you weren't expecting him. It seemed that your house needed to keep an Ackerman on hand at all times because as soon as Levi left Mikasa and Kenny began coming around more frequently. Your mom invited Kenny over for coffee on Sunday mornings and you invited Mikasa over for sleepovers and craft nights.

"Hey sorry I'm late, I brought booze though." Kenny's rough voice felt foreign to your ears. Despite his sudden presence at your house he still felt like a stranger to you. Of course you could only blame yourself here, you tried your best to avoid him and his questions, not sure how you felt about the gruff man. He seemed nice enough but you weren't quick to trust him, Erwin certainly wasn't either.

"Ah (Y/n)! Perfect timing! Come down stairs and say hello." your mom called out, you winced but obeyed, descending the last few steps.

"Hey there kiddo, how's it hangin'?" Kenny drawled as you slunk into the kitchen sheepishly.

"Hey Kenny, I'm good how are you?" You asked politely, aiming to please your mother more than Kenny. The man smiled triumphantly and leaned further back into his seat.

"I'm fantastic." he stated with a smug smirk plastered on his lips.

"Mom, I invited Mikasa, Amrin, and Eren over is that alright?" you asked, dismissing Kenny.

"Yeah of course baby, the more the merrier!" she cooed as she continued to set up the mixer and prop up the cook book.

"So my little niece will be joining us tonight?" Kenny affirmed as he stood to help your mother untangle to cord of the mixer.

"Yeah." you trailed off, not sure if this was good or bad. Although the pair had both been frequenting your house recently, they hadn't run into one another yet. You knew that Levi had a bad relationship with his uncle, so you could only assume that Mikasa's relationship was also just as rocky.

"haven't seen that brat since she was in diapers." Kenny mused as he flipped through the cook book.

"really? Well she sure has grown. Such a lovely young woman." Your mother sighed dreamily as she thought about Mikasa.

"Glad to hear it.." Kenny mumbled as he paused on a gingerbread recipe. Before you could decode the meaning behind his bland tone, the door flew open and Hange sauntered in. Today she was dressed for the weather in a downy parka and leggings with a thick crewneck. Erwin followed close behind, dressed in joggers and a t-shirt, he tended to get hot easily. Mike however was different. Mike was dressed for Arctic temperatures with a thick quarter zip underneath his north face and a pair of denim jeans on his legs. Nanaba wore a quarter zip as well but leggings instead of jeans. You rushed to help them shove their coats into the cramped closet and put snowy shoes over vents to melt off the ice. Soon they were all crowding into the kitchen, Mike was quick to help your mom set out ingredients while Erwin went to light the fireplace. Hange was rushing up the stairs and Nanaba was skimming through the cook book.

Ah yes such a familiar scene. You immediately felt better in the presence of the upperclassmen, Kenny seemed to melt into the background as he watched you all fall into a familiar rhythm. Erwin returned to the kitchen, dusting his hands off as he entered.

"Hey." He greeted you with a slight nod before he stooped to pull a baking sheet out of the cabinets.

"How was ice skating?" you asked as you leaned against the counter near Erwin.

"Cold, we saw Petra and Oluo there." Erwin mused as he sat the sheet down with a clatter.

"Really? Are they a thing?" you quizzed, your interest piqued.

"Couldn't say, wouldn't surprise me though." Erwin shrugged, his large frame pressed against the counter opposite to allow Nanaba to squeeze through.

"I don't know Erwin, last time I spoke to her she seemed pretty fixed on Levi." Nanaba interjected as she stooped to pull out a bowl.

"I thought she was over him. He left her hanging at my house a few months back remember?" Mike reminded Nanaba who pursed her lips in thought.

"Oh yeah I remember that...she was upset." Nanaba agreed as she sat the bowl in front of you on the counter.

"Then why was she with Oluo huh riddle me that." Erwin challenged, a sly smirk on his lips.

"Oh they've always been close, doesn't mean she likes him or anything." Nanaba scoffed.

"Well he sure likes her, saw him checking out her ass." Mike chuckled, your mom gasped and hit him upside the head.

"That's enough you guys! (Y/n), Kenny mix cut this butter up." Your mom ordered, grabbing you by the bicep to drag you over to Kenny at the island. She dropped a huge brick of butter in front of the two of you along with two butter knives.

"Oh I can do it on my own mom." you insisted with wide eyes.

"Nonsense, show Kenny how it's done." she slapped you on the back and turned to help Mike crack eggs into the wet ingredients bowl. You and Kenny shared an uneasy glance, you took the knife and sliced the chunk of butter in half. You slid half to Kenny and took the other half for yourself. You began to slice the butter into thin chunks and drop them into a bowl. Kenny watched with raised brows, the knife hanging loosely in his hand. You spared him a glance and an amused huff.

"Just slice it into chunks and drop them in this bowl." you instructed, pushing the bowl closer to him. He chuckled and then began to tediously cut the butter into uneven chunks. You nodded in approval as he began to gain confidence.

"Where does this go once it's done?" Kenny asked as he finished chopping the butter.

"In the mixer." You directed, as you wiped your hands on a damp rag. The doorbell chimed and you weaved through the kitchen to answer it. You were greeted by the familiar faces of Mikasa, Armin, and Eren. The trio piled into the house and kicked off their shoes and shrugged off jackets.

"Perfect timing guys, we just started making cookies." You said as you helped Armin out of his coat.

"Great! We brought our piping tips." Eren said, holding up a plastic bag filled with piping equipment.

"Oh yeah I forgot that you're a natural at cookie decorating Mikasa!" you complimented as you guided them into the kitchen. You placed the bag next to Kenny who was staring at Mikasa with slightly widened eyes, she returned his gaze with a surprised expression.

"Hey hothead!" Hange called out to Eren in a sing song voice as she descended the stairs.

"O-Oh Hange!" Eren cringed at her volume as she swang into the kitchen.

"Hange!" Armin cried out excitedly, you'd known that Armin looked up to the brunette due to her intelligence.

"Aw hello coconut head." she cooed as she ruffled Armin's blonde mop of hair.

"And baby Ackerman!" Hange giggles, turning her attention to Mikasa who was scowling at the brunette.

"So nice to see you all!" Hange gushed as she pulled on an apron.

"That was an awful long shit. You constipated or something?" Mike scoffed as he whisked the eggs.

"Ha ha very funny Mike." Hange scoffed as she sidled up next to Erwin who was crushing almonds loudly with a rolling pin.

"I'm just trying to pick up the slack. Someone needs to make Levi's crass jokes for him." Mike sighed, setting the whisk aside.

"Ah I'm sure he will appreciate the sentiment." Erwin approved with a chuckle and another jaw-rattling smash of the rolling pin.

"Kids why don't you start rolling this dough out and cut them with these." Your mother instructed as she thrust the large mixing bowl into your hands and pointing over to Kenny. You led Mikasa, Armin, and Eren over to the open counter space. Mikasa was side eyeing Kenny as she sprinkled some flour out.

"I want to make a penis." Eren remarked, a stupid look on his face as he looked to Armin for approval.

"That's inappropriate Eren." Armin chided as he reached for the dough in the bowl. He dropped the heavy ball of dough with a thump and a whoosh of flour.

"Hah! I'd like to see it!" Kenny chortled as he brushed some flour off his shirt.

"See he gets me!" Eren chuckled as Armin began to roll out the dough. Mikasa and you both rolled your eyes at the boys. Nanaba breezed by and brushed her hand across both yours and Mikasa's shoulders as she passed.

"You girls want pizza?" She asked with an angelic smile as she stopped by the landline.

"Yes please!" Eren answered before either of you could.

"Shut up Eren!" You snapped before turning to look at Nanaba who was holding the phone up to her ear already.

"Yes please Nanaba, can you put pineapple on one of them?" you asked with a sweet smile.

"Ew pineapple on pizza are you insane?!" Hange screeched from across the kitchen.

"Now now, if you order one with pineapple I'll eat it." Kenny agreed as he pressed a cookie cutter deep into the dough.

"Ugh, you guys are disgusting." Mike shook his head in disappointment as he poured the liquid ingredients into the dry ones for the next batch of cookies.

"Alright everyone be quiet while I order this." Nanaba ordered as she pressed the phone between her ear so she could jot down the orders on a pad of paper. The volume in the kitchen fell from a roar to a soft murmur as Nanaba placed the order. Once Nanaba hung up the phone the bustle picked right back up. The cookie hustle only stopped once all the dough was in the oven and the pizza had arrived.

When it was all said and done you all settled in the living room to watch christmas movies and eat pizza. As the movie began to play you finally took some time to check your phone for the first time all afternoon. You were surprised to see at least twenty messages on instagram from a swagmasterfarlan. You clicked on the first message and your frown deepened.

"cutte assf."  

"Let me show you parish"

"I cantreat you right."

The seventeen other messages followed a similar pattern. You noticed that the last message that had been sent two hours ago. You glanced at the clock and frowned, it was already eight pm. You considered blocking the account but upon checking, you realized that it was Farlan's  side account. You'd seen drunk texts before and these were no different. You glanced up to see Kenny with his hat over his eyes as he snored on the arm chair. Your mom was already dozing off on the couch with her feet in Erwin's lap, Erwin had an arm around Hange who was babbling about special effects to no one in particular. Nanaba and Mike were in their own little world on the floor as they watched the movie. Eren and Armin were joking in hushed voices as Mikasa's head lolled against your shoulder. Yeah you could use some entertainment.

"I would love to see parish."  you smiled at your response as you sent it. Not two minutes later a new message appeared.

"Woh, I'm durnk as shit."  

"yes you are swagmaster ;)" you responded with a giggle.

"Let facetime before levi punches my face."  Farlan's words were becoming clearer so you figured that he must be sobering up to some degree.

"Alright."  as soon as the read receipts confirmed that he had gotten the message your phone buzzed as he called you. Mikasa grunted as you shifted to answer the call, you answered on the third ring, thankful for the darkness in the room which concealed your features for the most part.

"Heyyyyy kid!" Farlan drawled, you could tell he was in his apartment, the surroundings familiar due to the times you had facetimed Levi.

"Hey Farlan, nice to finally meet you. I've heard all kinds of things." You chuckled as he squinted at his screen.

"No kidding! Hey what time is it over there?" Farlan questioned as he brought his phone closer to his face, giving you a perfect view of his eyebrows.

"It's about 8:30 here, what time is it in perish?" You mocked his blunder from earlier and he gasped in offense.

"That's cold!" he moaned, playing along with your joke.

"Spell it right next time!" you snickered, you glanced up from your phone and met Hange's curious gaze, her head tilted to the left. When you returned your attention back to your phone you were surprised to see the camera was no longer on Farlan's face. Instead it was spinning, the sound of grunting and shuffling was deafening. You winced the struggle continues for a few moments before there was a thud and a deep groan.

"Get into bed now before I punch your lights out." Levi's voice was gravely and strained with exhaustion as he spoke. Hange's ears were still perked as she tried to figure out who you were on the phone with. Once she heard Levi's voice she stood up and skipped over to the sofa to sit next to you.

"I'm serious Farlan this isn't cute get the fuck in that bed or so help me-" the phone clattered down to the floor, and you could make out the sound of stumbling footsteps.

"What is going on?" Hange asked as she leaned on your free shoulder to see the screen. You shrugged and bit your lip as you tried to decipher what was going on.

"No Levi, I've got to talk to her, she's still on the phone!" Farlan grumbled, his voice sounded a bit far away.

"You can talk to her tomorrow just go lay down already." just by the tone of his voice you could guess that he was pinching the bridge of his nose the way he did when he was frustrated.

"nah I'll just go grab my phone and-"

"No." the sound of bed springs creaking and Farlan grunting hinted that he had been pushed onto a bed. After a few more moments of the bed creaking and incoherent mumbling, the sound of footsteps approached the phone and then finally the camera was turned back towards the ceiling as it was picked up. And then Levi's face filled the screen, his eyes widened in surprise, you snapped a screenshot of the moment much to his displeasure.

"What the fuck." he huffed as he took in both you and Hange's amused expressions.

"Hey Levi! How's it going?" Hange cooed as she angled your wrist to show more of her face.

"How-"

"He called me." You answered quickly as you angled the phone back onto your face.

"why?" Levi interrogated. You simply shrugged as you took in his face. You were relieved to see that he looked the same, maybe his eye bags were a bit darker, and his hair a tad longer. But otherwise, he was the same.

"What are you doing?" Levi continued to grill you, to answer his question you panned the camera around the room, sure to not linger on Kenny who was snoring in the chair across the room.

"Thrilling." he scoffed when you brought the camera back to your face.

"Yeah, we spent the day baking. What about you? Seems like you guys are busy." You began your own interrogation.

"Yeah, Farlan had one too many at the bar." Levi agreed as he dropped down into an arm chair with a heavy sigh.

"And you? Did you have anything to drink?" Hange asked with a sly smirk. Levi's brow creased at her suggestive tone.

"If you must know, no I did not drink.... a lot." he answered.

"Lucky, I wish I was drunk right now." you sighed wistfully.

"I never said I was drunk." Levi clarified.

"Any big plans for your birthday Levi?" You asked, quick to change the subject.

"No, just dinner and gifts." Levi replied with a shrug as he sank into the chair.

"That sounds nice." you smiled, Hange dropped her head to your shoulder, her chin digging into your shoulder as she did so. Levi shrugged and averted his gaze for a moment.

"Where's Isabel?" Hange asked as here eyes scanned the background, which was too dark to really reveal anything.

"In her room playing some stupid video game." Levi scoffed as he cocked his head in the direction which you assumed Isabel's room was.

"Fun." Hange mused as she closed her eyes.

"And you? What are your plans for Christmas?" Levi's question surprised you, but you still answered.

"Same as always, gifts in the morning, breakfast, hopefully be plastered by 2." you sighed, Levi scoffed at your answer but seemed satisfied.

"What about the 26th?" Levi asked carefully. you pursed your lips as you thought about your schedule.

"Hmm well I'm not sure, probably-"

"Oh I forgot to tell you, Annie is hosting a party and asked me if you'd come." Mikasa's sleepy voice startled you.

"Really? Huh that's weird. Are you going?" you asked, tilting your face down to speak to her.

"Yeah. We're smoking weed." Mikasa mumbled, her eyes still shut.

"Guess I'll go too." you shrugged. Meanwhile Hange and Levi shared a wide-eyed glance, this could throw off their plans. More specifically Hange's plans, even more specifically her plan to set you and Levi up.

"Weed?" Levi asked, clearing his throat after the word fell from his lips. You knew that he had smoked the stuff in the past, but recently he had stuck to his juul and the occasional dab pen.

"yeah, Annie has like 30 grams right now." Mikasa answered.

"I've never smoked weed before." you mused, excitement bubbling up in your chest at the thought of the chance for a new experience.

"Eh it's okay." Mikasa shrugged.

"Guess I'll just have to try it for myself." you teased, nudging her with your shoulder.

"Guess you will." Mikasa mumbled before falling silent once more.

"Well there you have it. I'm going to Annie's on the 26th." you smiled as you answered Levi's original question. With the 26th only three days away, it gave you something to look forward to.

"Fine. Do  what you want." Levi rolled his eyes and stood from his chair, his whole vibe seemed to change. You wondered if it had been something you'd said or if he was just growing bored.

"I've got to go. Farlan's phone is almost dead." Levi said as he walked through the apartment.

"Oh well it was nice-" before you could finish he had already hung up, or the phone had died.

"Classic Levi." Hange chuckled as she rose up, stretching her stiff muscles before returning to Erwin's side. You rolled your eyes and sat your phone down in defeat. You reached behind you for a throw blanket to cover you and Mikasa, you shuffled over a bit so you were snuggled between the arm of the couch and Mikasa, who had followed you. Using the arm as a pillow you lied down as much as you could with Mikasa still using your side as a pillow, she had stretched out as well to prop her feet up in Eren's lap. Eren was already passed out, his head leaning against Armin's shoulder, who was in a similar position to you. It was nice, you hadn't made much time for nights like these recently. Since you had spent most of your time with Jean you had neglected your friends, and you felt awful about it.

You had missed them deeply, in fact this had probably been the longest you'd gone without a weekend like this. Your family had been close to the Jeagers since you were babies. Your mom and Dr. Jeager both worked at the same hospital and often worked together, they had only grown closer when your father died of cancer when you were 9. Grisha and Carla had helped your mother our a lot the months following his death. Meaning you spent a lot of time with Eren and Mikasa, and by extension Armin. That same year was when they took in Mikasa since Kenny had been deemed "unfit" for a second child in his care. You assumed that the Jeagers would be coming over for Lunch like they always did on Christmas, as well as Armin and his grandfather. You felt your eyelids grow heavy as you thought about all the preparations that were needed for you to host this year, and before you knew it you had fallen asleep.

So, some more thoughts about the final chapter.

What I loved

- Eren and Armin seeing the world they wished to see when they were kids

- Eren saying Armin is the one that can save this world (callback to the RtS arc)

- The confirmation that the future Eren saw included the Alliance stopping him

- Eren’s outburst about Mikasa moving on from him (and Armin calling it pathetic)

- Levi’s salute to his comrades

- Levi hanging out with Gabi and Falco (yet another energetic brunette and stoic blonde duo, as someone on twitter pointed out)

- Jean and Connie seeing smiling Sasha

What I liked

- Yeagerists not disappearing into thin air (it’s more realistic that way)

- The Survey Corps spirit surviving through the Alliance

What I disliked

- The Alliance’s reactions after they learned that they would live because of what Eren’s done. The horror of his actions should have been acknowledged to balance the scene out

What I hated

- Armin thanking Eren. I think the message of this scene was supposed to be “I still love you, I will try to bring peace to the world you’re leaving me”. It came out all wrong. Yeah, he calls genocide an “error” and Armin’s morals are… flexible to a certain extent, but those speech bubbles shouldn’t have happened

- Reiner sniffing Historia’s letter

- Information dump about Eren’s state of mind. We learn he’s basically insane; his timeline is not linear, and the things he’s doing are out of his control, because for him they already happened. Oh, and 80% of the outside world is gone. And he probably would have tried to flatten the earth even if he didn’t know the Alliance would stop him because he wants to be free from this world and the dark fate it’s given him. And he killed Carla.

- No moment of catharsis for Eren’s relationship with his mother after it got thoroughly destroyed in this chapter. There is also no clarification when he realized he killed Carla. Because of that, people are clowning Eren for asking Reiner why his mom had to die and thinking of her when he saw a pregnant woman

- Eren being a slave through and through. No moment of true freedom for him. Just destiny decided by Ymir

- The way it’s not clarified what Ymir wanted from Mikasa. I saw some good interpretations of their connection, but a thorough explanation in the form of Ymir’s POV would be welcome

- Mikasa’s selfless choice earning her the shittiest ending

- The way Mikasa’s fate ended up being a lot like Ymir’s (even though eremika and Ymir’s relationship with the king are mostly foiling each other). Away from her love, still remembering and yearning for him. Visually alone

- The scarf wrapping scene being redone with a bird. I would have loved to get some sort of vision within the paths

- Are the paths destroyed? Closed off? Just there, as they always have been? Is Ymir still in charge of them? Why did she just disappear? (Maybe I should be thankful about those questions not being answered. It’s all left open-ended, so eremika may meet again, someday.)

EDIT. I forgot to mention the Yeagerists stealing eremika’s “Fight!” quote. Where the hell did they learn that.

AoT Fan-Manga review: “Today is Sunny” (2014)

Also known as Honjitsu wa Seiten Nari. Yes, this was released back in 2014.

Read it here.  I suggest you read this manga first, but if you’re a rebel, don’t say I respect that 😉 but spoiler warning, I will also be referring to stuff from the anime up to season 3. 

This is gonna be a long one, folks, so strap in. You’re gonna enjoy this. Please read to the end, you’re not gonna regret it.

I’m not sure if I’m just late to the party, or if no one’s ever talked about this on Tumblr, but I’m here to give my two cents on this story and how great it is. I’m willing to bet some of you have yet to stumble upon this story, so this review/rant goes out to you folks. If someone else has talked about it and I’m not as original as I think I am, then whoops.

Also, I’m only going to be talking about the story. I’m not too good at rating art work; to me, it’s okay.

Anyways, onto the review/rant:

We start this story with a simple set up: It’s cleaning day for the Scouts, Erwin has left Levi to handle it while he’s off with Nile to do who knows what. Levi of course, takes this task almost more seriously than killing off titans, and our squad (the 104th cadets, this includes Reiner and Bertolt) are kind of shitting their pants.

Of course, shenanigans happen. Poor Reiner was celebrating being grouped with Historia, only to have that ripped from under him by Sasha...

Connie and Jean messing around only to be caught by Levi...

This moment...

Damn Ackermans can be terrifying.

Mikasa thinking it’s a good idea to use oranges to clean up the windows (idk how that actually worked). Poor Armin had to peer into this scene:

Warning to anyone who’s terrified of bugs, there’s a cockroach in this story. Yuck. (Reiner just has the shittiest luck of them all I think)

Y’all fought giant man-eaters on the daily but get so worked up over a tiny bug???

Anyways, when Erwin gets back, we finally find out about what he’s been up to all day:

GUYS! My heart stuttered when I read this part 😭

Apparently back when Erwin was a captain, he’d write these cards to his team at the end of the year, celebrating the fact they live to the next year. But now that he’s commander, he writes one for everyone...

Oof. My heart... I- 😢

But that’s not even the most wholesome part...

The way I started SOBBING when he started naming every fallen scout and putting down their personal letters on the grave. I wish this was canon! THIS IS SUCH AN ERWIN THING TO DO.. Makes me even sadder now that I won’t ever see him on the show again.

I love how Erwin personally wrote all of the cards to every single one of his scouts, even the ones who are not there with him anymore. His appreciation for them just makes me heart warm and fuzzy and I don’t think anyone could be a better leader than him (I love Hange, but Erwin wins this round)

And now I’m just hurted (not a word I know)

ALSO BONUS, THIS CUTE SCENE WITH LEVI:

I can’t with their comradery. Just Levi waiting outside for Erwin and dusting off the snow without a word exchanged. It’s absolutely precious. Again, will miss this in the show...

Overall, I love this story, it expanded on the characters without them being out of character, the story is short and sweet, plus I got a couple of good laughs after reading.

In the beginning, everything was straight out of a fairytale. She didn’t have the best childhood, her mother died when she was quite young, her father never remarried, he became detached, overcritical, and sometimes aggressive. He wasn’t close to his family or her mother’s family, so after she passed away, she lost contact with all of them.

Petra grew up without love, her father supported her financially but he was very distant emotionally, she had great friends at school, but she always felt like there was something else missing. She was from a small town in the countryside, where people tended to be conservative, where family was everything. So, when she visited her friends’ houses and saw them interacting with their families, she felt so ashamed and out of place, she felt so much envy.

When she started college, made new friends, when she met Floch, Petra felt that finally, good things were happening to her, she started to feel like she was having a normal life, that she was normal.

They were head over heels for each other since the very first time they met, they didn’t go to the same college but when they weren’t together, he called her and messaged her every day, all the time. She never felt so loved.

Unfortunately, life happened, and her father lost his job, he was moving back to their hometown, three hours away. She was on a scholarship, but even so, she didn’t have anywhere to live, so when Floch offered his place, she was so happy.

He was her silver lining.

Petra woke up that morning feeling sore all over, she and Floch have had a huge fight the previous night over some stupid shit she couldn’t even remember. He threw her across the room a couple of times, she could see the bruises starting to form in her arms and legs.

She felt so tired, she didn’t really feel like going to classes but Floch only had classes in the morning that day which meant he would be home the whole afternoon and night, which translated to more fights and screams, just thinking about it gave her the energy boost she needed to get up and get ready to go to class.

‘’Hey guys, I saved you a seat’’ She said, waiving to Hange, Mikasa, and Armin that had just walked into the classroom.’’

‘’Hey, are you okay?’’ Hange asked sitting next to her.

‘’Yeah.’’ She smiled. ‘’I’m just really tired, I think I’m getting sick.’’ She lied, hoping that Hange would stop asking questions, she was a really good friend but so nosey sometimes.

‘’Do you wanna go to the new café after class?’’ Armin asked all of them, getting his things out of his backpack. ‘’They are giving out free cupcakes.’’

‘’Free food? Count me in.’’ Replied Mikasa. ‘’You coming too Petra?’’

She thought about it, on one hand, she didn’t want to be home, but she also knew that if she went out without him, he would get so pissed.

‘’I don’t know, I have things to do.’’

‘’Common, it’ll be just for a bit, besides everyone else will be there too. It’s like we never see you anymore…pleaaaaaseeee Petra.’’

‘’Okay, but just for a bit.’’

All her friends were at the café, Jean, and Eren fighting about the last cupcake, Mikasa was trying to calm things down between them, Armin was reading a book, Hange was ranting to Connie about some biology experiment she was working on, Sasha was stuffing her face with some doughnuts and Levi was just sitting there. Oh Levi, before she met Floch she kinda had a silly crush on him, I mean who wouldn’t like Levi? With those piercing blue eyes, his black hair, that undercut, she wondered how different things would be if she had been in a relationship with him instead of Floch.

But the guy was so reserved and intimidating, of course, they talked here and there being in the same group friend and all. But she couldn’t help but feel intimidated by his presence which made her nervous whenever she was around him.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a bunch of notifications on her phone after it connected to the WIFI.

30 new messages from Floch <3

She was really screwed.

‘’Alright guys, I’m gonna go home now.’’ She announced gathering her things.

‘’Oww why? Exclaimed Armin. ‘’It’s still early, we were thinking about going to the movies after this’.’

She really wanted to go, she missed hanging out with them so much, but Flock didn’t like them, any of them, and the few times they had met, they had ended up fighting someone saying something, or him being jealous of the guys, it was simpler for her just to hang out with them in class.

She could hear the notifications of all the text messages from Floch coming in, it was embarrassing, but she couldn’t put the phone on silent mode, because if he called her and she didn’t answer, it was a shitshow, luckily no one said anything about the phone.

‘’My head kinda hurts.’’ She wasn’t lying. ‘’Maybe another time yeah?’’

‘’Do you want any of us to walk you home?’’ Eren asked her.

‘’ No.’’ She answered, faster than she intended to. ‘’ It’s okay, I’m gonna take the bus. See ya.’’

She didn’t really take the bus, she decided to walk home, slowly. As soon as she was away from the café tears started to fall. Part of her just wanted to get hit by a car or maybe get kidnapped, she didn’t want to go back to Floch’s apartment, but where else could she go.

She was about to cross the street when a black car stopped in front of her, it was Levi. She quickly dried up her tears using the sleeves of her hoodie.

‘’Hey,’’ He said awkwardly. ‘’I thought you said you were gonna take the bus, want a ride?’’

She couldn’t really make up an excuse to say, so she jumped into the car. They rode mostly in silence.

‘’Does your head hurt that bad?’’ He asked, worried after noticing that she looked like she had been crying.

‘’Hmm,’’ She responded. ‘’I’ll just take something when I get home, don’t worry about it.’’- ‘’Weren’t you going to the movies?’’ She asked him, trying to change the subject.

‘’Not my thing, besides, Hange was probably going to pick the shittiest movie available.’’

‘’You are right.’’ She laughed. ‘’It’s here’’ She said, pointing to the building around the corner. ‘’Thank you so much for the ride, Levi.’’

‘’No problem’’

She looked around before getting out of the car, hoping that she didn’t look too crazy. When she didn’t see him outside, she quickly got out of the car, praying to whatever God there was, that Floch would not be waiting for her at the balcony or looking out the window to see her getting out of Levi’s car.

While walking up the stairs, scared for what was waiting for her inside the apartment, she could not help but wonder when did things get so bad.

We going full war drama with AoT now.

Mikasa and Armin need to smack some sense into Eren, but the trust issues and circumstances they're in because of the trust issues just don't in the most literal sense allow them to go talk to him.

...and Eren is going to do something really stupid with no reason in him (Armin there to stop him), isn't he? He's running on autopilot and he has to be snapped out of it before he does something really bad. Which again, knowing AoT, the bad thing's gonna happen and it's gonna be worse than expected.

The worst I can think of is releasing the wall Titans without any of the planning Hange had in mind and then not being able to actually control them. That would destroy the people's already wavering trust in the military and the SL would be completely back to zero... before an impending attack from an enemy more advanced than them.

The shittiest cards are dealt for the SL once more.

Seeing Zackly being blown up was really satisfying, but he was kind of also a competent military leader? Now there is a wavering military organization and lots of angry mobs to complement the impending attack, too.

I knew the inner conflict wouldn't just be resolved with a snap of the finger. That's just not how people work and now because it's dangerous to disclose some of the info, people grew distrustful and are looking for a strong leader.

Which they see in Eren, who got "shit done" (the same goes for part of the recruits). Mobs don't really see nuance.

I think it's good writing because people would be distrustful of a new military government that doesn't tell them everything. The monarchy as it was reigned for a long time and gained the people's trust through that long-standing line (*besides* the magic Titan memory wipe) and now the new government is also starting to do bad shit like the old one did.

That's the most interesting bit for me from this chapter. It didn't actually gloss over the people's reaction to a military coup like it might have seemed from the Uprising arc.

But much of this chapter is also very much exposition and setting up ways to get the story where it needs to go. Which is always the least interesting part of AoT to me.

It was the weakest chapter in a while, I thought, not awful, but just kind of there, like much of the Uprising arc.

Laying down some ground rules, things seemed to be actually working. Erwin was lumping him with the shittiest assignments ever, on top of all of Eren's other, at least the only time he had to see the man was when Erwin coldly dished out another job to do. Every time he was in Levi's room, the door was left open. Feeding now happened during their morning run, which was frankly the best way to start the day. Filled and wrecked, his arse left to throb all day. And Levi knew all the best places off the running tracks... now one ever found them, no one found the evidence, even though more than a few trees now witness to their urges... He ate breakfast and lunch with his friends, while he ate dinner with Levi and the rest of the squad. He only snuck out his room at night if he couldn't calm down. After his fight with Levi, he'd clung to Armin until he'd been able to calm down, but it really didn't have the same affect on him as Levi did. If they did give in and have sex in Levi's room, he'd always shower after, and return to his own pretty much straight after. Even when the first thing he did in the morning was wake up and return to Levi. He missed sleeping with Levi, and being held protectively tight. He missed it like crazy, and sometimes it physically hurt to be parted from him. But so far, no one had said or even hinted at anything along the lines of him dating his partner. Armin had given shit over his new clothes and the thick blankets Levi had bought for him, to replace the ones that had been ruined, but smoothly explaining his previous ones had been destroyed when he was being bullied, his best friend backed off. One blanket lived on Levi's bed, the other on his, traded on a near daily basis so he didn't have to go without Levi's scent. Without it, Eren's anxieties decided he needed nonstop nightmares. He was just so nervous about finally returning to Shinganshima. His home... Creeping through the halls at night, Eren felt more like an intruder than a member of the Survey Corps. It was another late night for the teen, though this time he'd been with Hanji discussing maps and vantage points for Shinganshima. The woman was crazy enough to want to attempt the capture of werewolves while they were there. Eren couldn't see Erwin giving her the go ahead, but had humoured her anyway as she'd only been through Shinganshima twice in her life time. As he talked, the memories of his days playing with Mikasa and Armin came flooding back, leaving him with a heavy heart. He wished he could just go back to the days when things were peaceful, and werewolves were all contained on the other side of the walls. Desperately needing Levi's touch, he was surprised when he got to his alphas room, only to find the door locked. Levi never locked his door anymore, not unless it was the middle of the night. Knocking and getting no answer, he was bitterly disappointed to find he'd be sleeping alone. Witt a heavy sigh, he continued down to his room, finding Armin sitting on his bed as he talked to Mike "Hey Eren, did you only just finish up your work for the day?" "Yep. Hanji wanted to know more about Shinganshima. If I'm interrupting, I can go" "No, you're alright Eren. I was actually looking for you" "Something I can help you with, sir?" "As of tomorrow, you'll be training with my Squad instead of Levi's. Given we're so close to leaving, we really need to practice and train together" "With your Squad?" Levi hadn't mentioned he'd be changing squads! He'd seen the man that morning, and he'd said nothing! "Squad Levi will be on the front lines, while our Squad will be providing back-up to Hanji's. We'll be situated in the middle of the formation" "Oh..." "Did Levi not tell you?" "I haven't seen him since this morning" "It wasn't announced until lunchtime, Hanji really should have informed you" So even Hanji knew that he was being separated from Levi?! What the fuck!? Now he was being kicked out of his Squad?! He was fucking pissed! "It's fine. It's for the good of the mission. I usually go for a morning run, is that still ok?" "I would prefer you held out until after breakfast. We'll be practicing manoeuvres in the training forest straight after" "Understood" "Great. That's all I came here to talk about. Armin, Eren, I'll see you both bright and early tomorrow morning" Saluting Mike, he held the pose until the man left, deflating once the door closed. "You don't seem happy" "I'm fine. It was just a long day" "You know you can talk to me, don't you?" Armin scooted across to his own bed, while Eren started to strip "I am talking to you" "I mean about other things" "I don't have anything to talk about" "Not even you and Captain Levi?" The only time he looks super scary is when anyone gets close to you. I don't think Mikasa's noticed, but she's not with you all the time... Eren if you are dating him, promise me you're safe and that this what you want. If things turn bad, none of us would be able to stand up to Levi" He should be grateful for Armin's concerned, but he was still pissed that his boyfriend hadn't sought him out to tell him face to face that he was being reassigned. * After a morning of careless mistakes, Eren still hadn't had a chance to talk to Levi. Petra had sought him out at lunch to complain about his transfer, which had been nice, even if horsefaced Jean had given him shit while Mikasa had glared daggers at Petra the whole time. He had nothing against Mike, in fact, they got along awesomely. It was just... every time he looked to Levi, his boyfriend looked away. He felt like a kicked puppy. Could it be that now they were no longer partners, Levi had no use for him? He wanted to talk to him so badly, but Erwin was sitting at the same table, meaning he really wasn't welcome there. And even worse, they actually looked like they were getting along. It all left a bitter taste in his mouth. After lunch, he was dragged out for more training. His stomach doing flips when he realised both Erwin and Levi were now watching them. With the hot afternoon sun pouring down on him, his palms felt sweaty, his chest tight and his eyes persistently wandering to him. He couldn't get him out his head, the teens anxiety turning to anger. Levi had no right to stand over there in the shade, watching everyone but him. He couldn't even meet his fucking eye! Getting barrel rolled by a rampaging Sasha and Connie, Mike yelled out at them to stop. Levi hadn't even moved to help. How fucking dare he?! "Eren, are you ok?" No. He really wasn't ok. He had shitty fucking tears in his eyes and a boyfriend that wouldn't talk to him! "Why don't we take a break from this? Blouse. Springer. Why don't you lead the others in a run around the oval?" Sasha groaned "It's Eren's fault for not moving" "Eren's taking a break" "Why does he get to take a break?!" "Because he needs to go talk to Squad Leader Levi" "No I don't" "Eren" "I don't have anything to say to him!" Mike blinked, shaking his head "I'm sure you don't. Can we please just talk about our Warriors?

Manga spoilers!!!!!! So many!! You have been warned!!

Yeah I’m talking about Annie, Reiner and Bertoldt. They did shitty things, yeah whatever. Just think about what it would’ve been like to be the, tho??? They had like…the shittest lives imaginable??

From a young age they were taught that Eldians are evil and terrible people, and blinded by the Marleyan lies, they accepted their roles as the Titans and set off on their mission, hoping to be the hero they thought Marley needed. Keep in mind they had a couple years of relentless training, so they’d probably be around what, ten? Marleyans trained ten year olds to be murderers.

And yet, before even reaching the Walls, one of their best friends were taken from them and eaten in front of their eyes. These poor kids were probably around twelve, if you think about the thirteen year rule and the times when everything happened.

They knew they had some troubles they’d need to face, so despite the trauma that gave them, they kept moving onwards on their mission.

When they joined the 104th, Annie had the right idea. Stay distant and don’t grow attached to them. Reiner and Bert, trying to fit in, became friends with the cadets. That was one of their biggest mistakes, and they took Annie down with them. By befriending the enemy, they realised that not all Eldians are heartless monsters. In fact, barely any of them were. Instead of finding heartless monsters, they found hearts full to the brim with passion and longing. Longing for freedom.

But they couldn’t undo what they had done, and they couldn’t turn back on their mission. So Annie, who forced all that down and suppressed her emotions, continued on with her job while Reiner and Bert let their hearts take over and chose to join the Survey Corps instead of infiltrating the kingdom in the Military Police. You can argue that they just wanted to keep an eye on Eren, but that was probably just the excuse they made for themselves and for Annie. Annie knew what was up. But she didn’t let any of those emotions get to her.

She didn’t hesitate to do what she set out to do and complete her goals. Because after all, she had thirteen years to live and her father believed in her. She should’ve never befriended the 104th. She knew that. And she ended up in a crystal so she wouldn’t have to face them ever again until the time is right.

//Annie is the most mentally driven character and the most emotionally strong character I have ever seen in my life.//

She had such powerful control over her mind and heart to do that. She was //strong.// I honestly cannot begin to express my admiration towards Annie for what she did. Such strength to be able to bring herself to do it. I’m not saying it was the right thing to do; I’m applauding her for not letting anything get to her the way Reiner and Bert did. She was so strong and I love her so much. She deserves so much better and I hope when she finally emerges from that crystal, she escapes and lives. Even though she will die within a few years. Maybe she doesn’t pass on the power on purpose so that nobody else has to go through what she went through and the Female Titan is lost forever, and Annie dies peacefully in a forest or something. I really hope that’s what happens. She deserves the world for her accomplishments.

Enough about Annie; now Bertoldt. This boy had always been disclosed and shy; yet he still took up this impossibly difficult task. I don’t know why he did, but I bet he was in a similar situation as Annie. Blinded by Marley’s lies and hoped to be a hero.

He had one of the toughest tasks of all; to breach the first Wall. That marked such a dark day for humanity that was told as a tale everyone would know; a tale that would go down in history for all the wrong reasons. He knew what he was getting into. Can you just imagine the guilt he would’ve felt for doing that? That single kick marked at least what, 30% of humanity good as dead. That guilt, for a guy such as Bert, must’ve been unbearable. But he beared the unbearable.

Shy as he was, he fit into the 104th, and everyone loved him as much as he loved everyone. Bertoldt is a lover, not a fighter. He thought he was doing what was right and fighting monsters. But as he befriended all these Eldians, he realised who the real monsters were. Them.

Bert chose to follow his heart and go with the Survey Corps, manipulating himself into thinking it was the wiser course of action. But //he left Annie behind.// and as you would’ve saw, he loved Annie. I don’t blame him. She’s the strongest person in the whole series. Sure, Levi was emotionally strong enough to repress his emotions and face the amount of death he saw, but as bad as Levi’s life may have been, it doesn’t compare to the Warriors’. He was raised in a shithole and his closest friends died in front of him; but he got to fight for humanity and the chance to avenge them by beating the Titans. All the Warriors got was death and guilt and murder and the hope that their families back in Marley would be proud of them for being //murderers.// Bertoldt loved Annie. You could tell. He knew how strong she was, and he was envious of her strength, like anyone else would.

His bro Reiner told him to confess to Annie. I bet you he was planning to. But instead, he was killed for Armin’s sake…I love Armin don’t get me wrong, but imagine how that must’ve felt for him. Mixed emotions. Emotions of fear, relief, guilt, anger, helplessness….he didn’t want to die. He was tricked into doing his job. Manipulated, with no way out other than to finish it, so he wanted to live. But at the same time, he probably wanted death from all the guilt of the people he’d killed. Sadness that he never had the chance to tell Annie how he truly felt, know Annie would’ve been strong enough to do that much. But in the end, I think he was happy that he saved Armin. Relieved he could finally let go and not live in that hell anymore, and a much more worthy life lived.

Bertoldt deserved way better; he had a heart of gold and deserved the world.

And last but not least; Reiner. Reiner I think by far has the shittiest life and situation out of everyone in this fucking series of fucked up depressing shit. Just think about it. Annie sealed herself in a crystal for some sort of hibernation, and she was strong enough to actually go through with joining he MP. Bertoldt got the sweet release of death knowing his time was over and his hell was over too. But Reiner? Reiner saw two of his best friends get eaten and unable to do anything about it. He was thrown off by those thunder spears so he couldn’t do anything, that same helpless feeling of being unable to save someone like when he saw Marcel die. And now Bert. And seeing Annie crystallise. He saw all of that and kept going. Not because he wanted to, but because he literally had no choice at all. It was the only path for him to take.

I bet you all $20 that he now has severe PTSD. Also that Cushing guilt he cannot get rid of, as he has the curse of living. He’s probably counting the days left till sweet death comes. He had the power of the Armoured Titan and yet, his friends were taken from him one by one, and he was turned against the only friends he had left, that he knew full well he was going to betray from the start. He has nobody left in this world to be there for him. Except Zeke, but he didn’t grow up with and spend years with Zeke like he did with the 104th. They all went through so much together.

And now, all he can do is sit and watch as these young, misguided souls compete for his power, his burden, that one day will burden them just as bad or if not worse. And he can’t even rest yet; he continues fighting until his last hours, his last breath. He has kept living all these years without Annie, Bertoldt or Marcel, or any of the 104th except maybe Ymir. What happened to her again?? She kinda just disappeared with them? I swear to god if the Marleyans killed her in revenge for Marcel or to pass on her Titan, I will actually grow a riot because Ymir deserved the world just as much as all the other Titans.

Reiner must be so lonely, depressed, guilty and have no drive to keep going other than because he has to. I hope he dies quickly and painlessly and can get it done and over with, put him out of his misery.

And then Ymir, who literally was a normal human who did nothing wrong and is now faced with all this shit?? She wasn’t trained for this. She wasn’t promised to be a hero, she had no purpose. She just existed at the worst time and place and got so much shit for it. At least Ymir had the luxury to find love during her shithole of a life; thank god Historia exists. //Ymir did nothing wrong!!//

You know, when you put it like this, Eren, Mikasa and Armin’s lives seem like a stroll in he park. Heck, you can even argue that Levi’s life looked alright in comparison to these guys. I am a huge Levi fan so I’m not trying to hate on him, I love him to death and feel so sad for him but when people say he’s had it the hardest…I can object.

Once they had accepted the Titan powers, the Warriors were already marked for a shit life. They probably had around 9 years of peace as a child and that’s all they got before hell began.

This wasn’t meant to get this long oops. But I just felt the need to express my love for these characters, they don’t get enough of it in the canon and even in the fan base. Someone please just write a fanfic where they’re all happy and none of this happened, I need it pls.

I got the slightly stuck

Laying down some ground rules, things seemed to be actually working. Erwin was lumping him with the shittiest assignments ever, on top of all of Eren's other, at least the only time he had to see the man was when Erwin coldly dished out another job to do. Every time he was in Levi's room, the door was left open. Feeding now happened during their morning run, which was frankly the best way to start the day. Filled and wrecked, his arse left to throb all day. And Levi knew all the best places off the running tracks... now one ever found them, no one found the evidence, even though more than a few trees now witness to their urges... He ate breakfast and lunch with his friends, while he ate dinner with Levi and the rest of the squad. He only snuck out his room at night if he couldn't calm down. After his fight with Levi, he'd clung to Armin until he'd been able to calm down, but it really didn't have the same affect on him as Levi did. If they did give in and have sex in Levi's room, he'd always shower after, and return to his own pretty much straight after. Even when the first thing he did in the morning was wake up and return to Levi. He missed sleeping with Levi, and being held protectively tight. He missed it like crazy, and sometimes it physically hurt to be parted from him. But so far, no one had said or even hinted at anything along the lines of him dating his partner. Armin had given shit over his new clothes and the thick blankets Levi had bought for him, to replace the ones that had been ruined, but smoothly explaining his previous ones had been destroyed when he was being bullied, his best friend backed off. One blanket lived on Levi's bed, the other on his, traded on a near daily basis so he didn't have to go without Levi's scent. Without it, Eren's anxieties decided he needed nonstop nightmares. He was just so nervous about finally returning to Shinganshima. His home...

Creeping through the halls at night, Eren felt more like an intruder than a member of the Survey Corps. It was another late night for the teen, though this time he'd been with Hanji discussing maps and vantage points for Shinganshima. The woman was crazy enough to want to attempt the capture of werewolves while they were there. Eren couldn't see Erwin giving her the go ahead, but had humoured her anyway as she'd only been through Shinganshima twice in her life time. As he talked, the memories of his days playing with Mikasa and Armin came flooding back, leaving him with a heavy heart. He wished he could just go back to the days when things were peaceful, and werewolves were all contained on the other side of the walls. Desperately needing Levi's touch, he was surprised when he got to his alphas room, only to find the door locked. Levi never locked his door anymore, not unless it was the middle of the night. Knocking and getting no answer, he was bitterly disappointed to find he'd be sleeping alone. Witt a heavy sigh, he continued down to his room, finding Armin sitting on his bed as he talked to Mike

"Hey Eren, did you only just finish up your work for the day?"

"Yep. Hanji wanted to know more about Shinganshima. If I'm interrupting, I can go"

"No, you're alright Eren. I was actually looking for you"

"Something I can help you with, sir?"

"As of tomorrow, you'll be training with my Squad instead of Levi's. Given we're so close to leaving, we really need to practice and train together"

"With your Squad?"

Levi hadn't mentioned he'd be changing squads! He'd seen the man that morning, and he'd said nothing!

"Squad Levi will be on the front lines, while our Squad will be providing back-up to Hanji's. We'll be situated in the middle of the formation"

"Oh..."

"Did Levi not tell you?"

"I haven't seen him since this morning"

"It wasn't announced until lunchtime, Hanji really should have informed you"

So even Hanji knew that he was being separated from Levi?! What the fuck!? He'd done absolutely everything Erwin had asked of him, in an attempt to demonstrate that he was indeed fit for active duty and that being with Levi didn't change that. Now he was being kicked out of his Squad?! He was fucking pissed!

"It's fine. It's for the good of the mission. I usually go for a morning run, is that still ok?"

"I would prefer you held out until after breakfast. We'll be practicing manoeuvres in the training forest straight after"

"Understood"

"Great. That's all I came here to talk about. Armin, Eren, I'll see you both bright and early tomorrow morning"

Saluting Mike, he held the pose until the man left, deflating once the door closed.

"You don't seem happy"

"I'm fine. It was just a long day"

"You know you can talk to me, don't you?"

Armin scooted across to his own bed, while Eren started to strip

"I am talking to you"

"I mean about other things"

"I don't have anything to talk about"

"Not even you and Captain Levi?"

Making a show of climbing into his bed, Eren shifted so he wouldn't have to talk. Armin however, had to have the last say

"I don't think it's a bad thing, if you are. I just want to be able to help you out if you need it. Besides, everyone says Levi is much mellower these days. The only time he looks super scary is when anyone gets close to you. I don't think Mikasa's noticed, but she's not with you all the time... Eren if you are dating him, promise me you're safe and that this what you want. If things turn bad, none of us would be able to stand up to Levi"

He should be grateful for Armin's concerned, but he was still pissed that his boyfriend hadn't sought him out to tell him face to face that he was being reassigned.
