Anyway... I don't know?

X3 is not as bad as I was expecting, but... I don't know how to describe the experience.

To be honest, I didn't have much problem with the enemy placement. Maybe becoming a Sonic Advance 3 expert made me stronger in the face of dickish hazard placement :P Neon Tiger and especially Doppler’s fortress are the only times I felt the enemies were placed in a deliberately mean way. Although I guess that only a second playthough (that I intend to do... with hacks that improve Zero lol) would confirm this, as of course X games are known for how speedrun-friendly they are, and on a first playthrough you tend to go slower.

But yeah, while I do feel the downgrade in terms of how memorable the levels are (I liked Toxic Seahorse, Tunnel Rhino and Blast Hornet, very much did not like Neon Tiger), the enemy placement didn’t give me as much problem as I feared, maybe because I tired to be careful instead of dashing everywhere.

Now, the bosses got quite the uptick in difficulty. Or maybe I just need to git gud, but I do feel like the Mavericks here are much more aggressive than in X2 and especially X1. There are also bosses that are very easy, like Doppler, and bosses that following the tradition get pitifully broken by their weakness, like Blast Hornet. A mixed bunch.

Oh, and then there’s Sigma. Fuck Sigma. Especially the third phase. And the second phase’s hitbox. Fuck.

Zero has been implemented somewhat weirdly. Not even badly, but it felt like they wanted him to feel "precious". It’s actually pretty fun to play as him! Of course at his core he's basically "X but beefed up but can’t do much", nothing like his amazing gameplay in X4, but as a first attempt I liked it and yeah, I was pretty hyped when in the intro stage I could suddenly control him. But once you switch back to X you can't call him back, you can't defeat bosses with him, you can't collect parts, and of course if you die once dude's out of commission. Easy to save him if you're low on health due to enemies, but do not use him on dangerous, spiky/bottomless sections. He also goes out of commission if you want to get the Z-Saber. Man, Zero in the SNES games is really unlucky, uh. Good thing X4 made him the ultra-badass we know and love!

I had probably the peak X3 moment in Crush Crawfish’s stage. A bit after the beginning, I decide I want to play as Zero. I switch to him, I walk a few steps, and there’s a boss door. Since Zero is too much of a coward to tackle on bosses apparently, I’m forced to switch to X... aaaand the boss room is empty. And Zero is gone nonetheless. Great design :^)

The graphics are pretty good, not as wowy as X2 but roughly on the same level which is good for me (also random detail but the way Zero’s ponytail swishes is too cute). The music... ngl I was a little hyped when I was told the composer is Kinuyo Yamashita, same as Castlevania 1 :( how did she go from this to this kind of boring sound? (then again, Naoto Tanaka went from this to this in the span of a year, so who am I to judge) To be fair, there are some bangers, such as the intro stage or Toxic Seahorse or Gravity Beetle, but it feels like there was a sharp decline from X1 to X2 to X3.

In short... I guess it’s okay. It tried to add a lot of few things, like the many Ride Armors, the Super Chips, Zero, and a very convoluted system of backtracking... but I guess there’s a reason X4 streamlined things. Not a game I see myself replaying. I know you lowkey expected me to be all “X3 is a great game and y’all are just mean” :P, but I suppose one playthrough, and one that got very tiring by the end, wouldn’t be enough for me to disagree with the majority.

Synth and his husband, Kaa, aka. Kanye, finally have a children on their own. Me and @jade-green-butterfly worked together on giving them twin sons. Meet Trance and Tempo.

Both twins are upbeat and fun loving trolls. Though, Tempo is more chilled, like Kaa, and his brother, Trance, could party all day and night without a break, like Synth. Despite their differences, they love each other a lot, to the delight of their fathers.

I'll definitely have to draw a whole family, because they're adorable as hell >w<

Cutie Reviews: Doki Doki April 18

I’m not going to bother justifying my laziness (゜▽゜;) But if it helps, it actually gave me more time to reconsider my initial opinions of this box- at least to figure it out a little more. So in a way this is probably a good thing!

Yes I know I’ve been using this setting more often. No real reason why, it’s just left effort than heading to my “normal studio” and setting up.

80s Sanrio Retro Cup

Before I found out the name, this cup honestly gave me an 80s impression. No, I wasn’t born in the 80s <,< but when I was little, in the 90s, prints and designs like this were still common. I also do a lot of retro toy website browsing for kicks, so you see these kind of designs a lot.

These are also said to be dishwasher safe but are not for use in microwaves.

The cups were available with PomPom Purin, Pochacco, Keroppi, and the one I got: Tuxedo Sam, a dapper but clumsy, often-hungry penguin who first appeared in 1979 and owns a bow tie for each day!

I love the colors and design, it’s covered in them :3 This is probably the fourth cup I got that is made by this brand/style/material (?), and I really like using them when I don’t feel like being fancy and busting out the glasses (which is essentially every morning).

Tuxedo Sam Plush Key Chain

I figured I should do this one next because... well you saw the cup right? This is a basic plush key chain with a gold ball chain. I already talked about Tuxedo Sam above, so how about some random Trivia about him I found online?

1. His Birthday is on the May 12th 1978.

2. He is considered “Moderately successful“ in terms of Hello Kitty character popularity.

3. His full name is Tuxedo J. Orville Sam

For a small plush key chain he’s very well made. I’m used to them being really stiff or cheaply made, but he’s actually a bit squishy (without being too soft) and his detailing is wonderful. This is one of the better plush key chains I’ve gotten so far.

Badtz-Maru Coin Purse

A fashionable coin purse featuring Badtz-Maru, a 90s kid who enjoys making fun of silly things and collecting pictures of actors who portray bad guys in movies. He is also featured with his friend Hana-Maru.

I admit, Badtz hasn’t been one of my favorite characters from Sanrio- but he has his own charm to him you know? Not only is this really cute, but it’s very well-made. I’m not sure what the fabric is, but I noticed it’s a bit stretchy and thick. I really like how it feels!

Sanrio Outdoor Mat

You can probably tell that this isn’t the actual product right? I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of removing it and putting it away. I’m sorry, I know I was being lazy in this one. But I always have trouble taking things out and putting them back in and I was running out of time that day.

As the name implies, these are for outdoors. In Japan, people like to use these when siting on the ground or attending a picnic. This was available in three designs; including Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Little Twin Stars. All three are really cute, but I love Hello Kitty so I’m glad I got this one. Look how precious that picture is!

So initially I just intended on judging this on everything but use. I didn’t really want to take it out to use it but what kind of reviewer would I be?

So after using it (and actually opening it), I found it’s super easy to fold up and store. It’s very thin, but the material has a texture on top that I believe would make it easy for cleaning off should something get on it- which I like. The bottom has a layer of Styrofoam on it and it feels comfortable for being a thin sheet. I’ll be using this when I do some gardening or just want some fresh air.

Sanrio Coloring Book

This is a fun, simple way to pass the time when you have it to kill or just need to unwind. It’s not a complex coloring book, but it’s very sweet. It features a large range of Sanrio characters; from the mega-popular to the lesser-known, and it includes broken down Kanji so in a way it’s also useful for learning Japanese Hiragana and Katakana (the only one I can actually read).

I love coloring books, and I prefer lesser-complex designs such as the ones in here in comparison to adult coloring books. Although I do own a handful of those too...

Poke ball Pouch

(๑꒪▿꒪)* Am I the only one concerned that it’s not a Sanrio item?

This is a cute accessory for any Pokemon fan, available in a few different styles (but I only saw the normal poke ball, and this one, the Great Ball). It’s perfect for holding accessories, makeup, keys, handheld devices, cards, money, and so much more!

As shocking as this might be... I actually had to look up which one I got. That’s how out-of-touch I’ve been with Pokemon as of late.... It honestly bothers me. I still treasure everything I’ve accumulated from the series since I was a child (I think I was between the ages of 5-7 when it first came out and I had tons of merch!), and I still have my favorites and precious memories of the series... but lately, I just fell out of love with Pokemon.

Despite that, I’ve been slowly getting back into it! I plan on catching up on this generation of the series I’ve missed; as well as the few spin-offs. I’m looking forward especially to getting Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee in a few months!

As much as I adore both of them- I already decided on Eevee because it features Vulpix, who is my favorite Pokemon. It also has Meowth, who I also like.

Content - 4.5 out of 5. I loved everything and their practicality. Although again I was left without that “wow“ feeling.

Theme: 2.5 out of 5. I can see what they were going for by using Sanrio, an older series. But considering everything but one item was Sanrio-based... I feel like this was another wasted opportunity in terms of theme. Like they could have used multiple older series instead of just like, two, or they could have made it an entire Sanrio-themed box?

Total Rank: 11.5 or 12 out of 15 Cuties. Everything in the box was fine and in good shape. I loved how useful it all is, even if they’re not every day items. I was mainly bothered by the theme this time around, which is kinda minuscule but I try to take everything into consideration when I rate these.
