🐻🐤🐰🦊 just some thoughts on the fnaf movie
🐻the attention to detail that was put into it, with all it’s little details and easter eggs. the posters in the background, (and i haven’t seen anyone bring this up), the guy who got face-mauled by the cupcake wearing a midnight motorist t-shirt. the spring lock scene. the fact that scariest of all the jumpscares (of which there weren’t a lot but it’s kind of for the younger demographic ig they can’t make it too bad) was freaking balloon boy. the highest kill count going to MVP Carl the Cupcake. this is what i mean when i say movies from established franchises should be made by fans, for fans.
AND THE MATPAT CAMEO. HIS ACTING ISNT EVEN BAD AND EVEN IF IT WAS I EOULD STILL LOEV ITTT DVDNFB
🐤 you can tell they put a lot of thought into the child actors. abby is phenomenal. the five missing children? properly creepy and sad looking.
🐰 characters were all really well written and entertaining. the karen aunt, for all that she is an antagonist and very much hateable, still manages to be funny. even background characters are hilarious, like Doug for example, and don’t even get me started on the friggin matpat cameo i nearly screamed in the movie theater.
🦊 vanessa and mike are naturally each other’s narrative foils (and stand-ins for respectively Michael Afton/Elizabeth Afton (MichaElizabeth if you will) and Charlotte Emily imo), and them saying the same line, the “that’s two jobs”, mike at the beginning, and vanessa at the end, TO THE SAME CHARACTER?? TO THE BIG FUCKIN BAD HIMSELF??? WHO THEY BOTH HAVE DEEP HISTORY WITH???? literally this is good writing. i’m not saying the movie is perfect because it isn’t, but this is good writing.
🐻 and vanessa, as much as she kind of is, doesn’t feel like a coward because her worst fear does come true. her own father, the person who she thought the world of, tries to kill her as soon as she steps out of line. her fear wasn’t unjustified. she spent her entire life under his control — has literally never known anything else, and to still rebel after so long must’ve been the hardest, most terrifying thing in the world but she still did it because she’d grown to care for mike and abby.
and this is what i mean when i quote that one post: “strong female characters ≠ characters who are female and punch good, but strong female characters = well-written female characters” like yeah, vanessa’s an antagonist, or an anti-hero i suppose, but she’s still, once again, likeable and mysterious and funny. and the “bring her here again and i’ll fucking shoot you”?? that was probably her first act of true rebellion, aside from telling mike more than she should’ve about the pizzeria.
🐤 mikes arc is a very obvious “let go of the past and learn to cherish the present” which isn’t exactly revolutionary, but i think it’s done quite well though it could be improved a bit. and as much as you think he is an absolute cabbage head for telling them they could have abby for even a second, but you still, once again, get it.
our man’s running on like two hours of sleep and also meds, finally getting to see his baby brother up-close and even touch his face for the first time in probably more than a decade of blaming himself, and then getting told he could go back and see his parents again, the grief over who he probably hasn’t been able to process since he had to take care of abby when they died (possibly even took his own life in the father’s case if he’s supposed to be a henry stand-in like i think and doesn’t that just make it fifty times worse)
and it’s set up that he wants that perfect family back, the kind that he had during his childhood, that abby never got to experience.
and maybe he feels guilty for that. maybe he thinks, in his sleep-deprived and grief-ridden mind, for only a moment, that she would be better off, since she seems to like the animatronics and their ghost children better than him and he still feels like he doesn’t know how to raise a kid.
🐰 speaking of abby, for once Child Character in the horror movie isn’t just there to do some stupid shit for Plot Reasons (cough, The Curse of La Llorona, cough cough). i mean yes, she does go with them at the climax, but she has been given no reason not to trust them and considering the fact that they are other children, it would honestly be more suspicious if she didn’t trust them (also we’ve been shown she doesn’t really have friends before the end, so theyre also her first and only friends, no wonder she’s clinging to them) plus she’s been left alone with the aunt she does not like, possibly still believing mike is abandoning her. you get it.
she’s also very entertaining in her sassiness. like “are you here to arrest my brother?” or “yeah, love you too bro, kinda don’t wanna die tho, can we leave?” literally i can’t stand kids in general, but especially so in in horror movies, but i would give my life for abby.
🦊and the drawing thing? it’s beautiful and sad and really hammers home the fact that these monsters, however scary they have been made by their brutal and cruel deaths, they were, and are, just children who didn’t deserve to die and communicate the same way children like abby do. it also makes abby herself relevant to the plot and actually useful.
🐻and about abby; i have my own Theory there. we know she wasn’t in the picture during Garrett’s disappearance, which means she’s at least twelve years younger than mike. it’s actually quite common for couples who are going through a rough patch to have kids to try to fix it, which i think is what happened here, made even more possible if they also had her as a sort of replacement for Garrett. this, as i said earlier, makes mike’s indecision all the more understandable — if abby doesn’t just look a lot like Garrett, but was actually supposed to be him and would’ve never existed if not for the tragedy.
but that’s Just A Theory. 🐻🐤🐰🦊

Random characters with a reader who plays Five Nights at Freddy's
Characters included: Allison Reynolds, Phoebe Buffay, Remy "Thirteen" Hadley, Gomez! Master/Missy
Warnings: gender neutral reader, multiple mentions of the survival horror game Five Nights at Freddy (no spoilers for any of the games though)
A/N: I was finally able to get the fnaf core collection from Walmart that I've been eyeing for like a year and while I've temporarily put aside my Nintendo switch so I won't keep getting the shit scared out of me I decided to write something with some of my favorite characters because a) I want to and b) I can. Is this a niche concept? Yes, but so are all the characters I've chosen for this (and I've only just realized they're all women but I refuse to apologize for it)
Allison Reynolds
She already knew about the game before you told her. In a modern au (which is what this is) she's definitely the weird kid that's obsessed with fnaf, nightcore, creepypasta, etc.
Owns all of the games, including several books and plushies. You're not sure whether they were gifts or if she bought them herself (or if she stole them)
Loves to watch you play, always letting out a small shriek followed by excited giggles whenever you get jumpscared. She's incredibly good, often winning even the most difficult nights on the first try
Watches lore videos and gameplays on YouTube with you while snuggled up in her bed (Matpat and Markiplier are obviously her favorites)
If she knows you have a favorite character she'll go out of her way to get something with them for you. Her favorite character is Marionette/The Puppet
Phoebe Buffay
She saw some of your fnaf stuff and innocently asked what it was from, not knowing your cute little plushies had such a dark backstory
It scares the hell out of her at first, but in a good way. She likes watching you play while cheering you on from the sidelines, occasionally asking questions or swearing at one of the characters when they jumpscare you
Eventually she ends up trying it out for herself, doing surprisingly good from all the times she watched you. Until she ran out of power, that is, and was immediately killed
Probably ends up writing a song about it and singing it at the coffee shop, much to everyone's dismay
"There was once a purple guy who watched children die, they were stuffed in a metal suit and no one knows why-"
Also her favorites are Bonnie and Monty Gator because they play the guitar like her and she automatically thinks they're really cool just because of that
Remy "Thirteen" Hadley
Another ex weird kid who played the games for sure. She's also a champ at them, and will usually give you pointers whenever she watches you play
The type to have serious discussions with you over the lore at any time or place, regardless of whether it's the right environment or not. One time you were talking about it at the hospital during lunch and Kutner overheard. Poor guy was traumatized
Her favorites are Circus Baby and Michael Afton because of how much she strangely relates to them. Springtrap is her worst enemy and she will make it known at any possible time she can bring it up. She hates him so much that whenever she plays the third game it's just her swearing at him the entire time
She also hates Balloon Boy (who doesn't) but it's less of a visceral hatred and more of a "Oh great, this guy again"
Like I said before, she's a champ at them BUT she's also incredibly competitive and will rage quit if she loses more than two times in a row
Gomez! Master/Missy
"Humans are so cute, aren't they? Actively seeking out things that scare them, then acting surprised when they get frightened" <- her exact words when she saw you playing the game for the first time and after you explained it to her
In all honesty, while she does find it cute in a slightly condescending way, she feels like that for pretty much anything humans are interested in, so I wouldn't take it personally
The lore both fascinates and delights her, and she could spend hours listening to you explain it. In fact, I'd go so far as to say she likes that more than the actual games themself
That's not to say that she doesn't enjoy watching you play, because she does. Something about the adrenaline rush and the need to last until six o'clock followed by getting jumpscared out of nowhere is thrilling to her. She might even ask to play herself if she's in a good enough mood, though she will throw a small tantrum if she loses just an FYI
Ballora is her favorite- why? I think it's because of how eery she is. Like, she's somewhat of a mother figure, but there's something off about her. Also it's just the vibes man idk
End notes: sorry for this random fnaf centric post, I just love it so much and needed to integrate it in with my writing

fnaf movie spoilers below I just wanna get my thoughts out this isn't well written I'm just excited and need an outlet!
so I've seen people say it was bad? I don't think it was bad at all. I think from a technical viewpoint there were things that could have been better but as a fan it was wonderful. Absolutely made for the fans. It wasn't really a horror movie. I was expecting a lot more horror. There weren't really many jumpscares? And it was mostly the balloon boy doll. I still thought that was funny.
I loved the opening sequence with Spingbonnie leading the kids away! He looked a little goofy at points but that's okay I liked it.
I don't know if I'm remembering wrong but the moment we heard Mike's alarm clock I thought 'that's the alarm clock from fnaf 4'. Knowing that 'Steve Raglan' is of course William made his scenes all the more funny because man we know you're talking about yourself. I really wasn't sure if they were going to reveal that Mike was Michael Afton and Abby was Elizabeth or something and they obviously avoided saying his last name to tease us about it. The Vanessa plot twist completely took me by surprise. Obviously we could see she was involved more than she was letting on but I really wasn't expecting her to be Williams daughter. Nice plot twist for fans, subverting the expectations of Mike being an Afton and calling her Vanessa to confuse us and everything. I liked the changes they made to it because you're gonna have to change stuff when it's a standalone film.
The animatronics looked incredible! Other than Foxys kinda janky scenes because he couldn't be operated like the others, their movements were really good and believable. I loved their personalities being able to come out with Abby! That scene was so cute.
Springbonnie looked amazing. I'd say that suit looked the best of all! Very menacing, I love how Mathew Lillard played William. I can't wait to see those scenes again because he was very good. I'm so happy we got the springlock scene! I like how he didn't really scream because they say how it would puncture your vocal chords and you wouldn't be able to.
The living tombstone playing was just the cherry on top. My sister was the victim of my excited flailing on more than one occasion but that was probably the worst. (I actually gasped and clapped my hands together when Springbonnie appeared-) In my mother's words, when I told her about the alarm clock, 'God frankie you're sad' lmao.
OH YEAH and I waited till the end and was happy to hear the come find me noises.
Fun fact I managed to miss the matpat cameo because I went to the bathroom. I asked my sister if I missed anything and she said no. Lmao.
My grandfathers clock playing in the credits threw me off haha.

not my normal type of post but...
Decay of Angels Playing Five Nights at Freddy’s
<< tell me if you want one of them playing the other games i LOVED writing these >>
Fyodor
Doesn’t like that there’s such a high element of unpredictability to the games, but it intrigues him either way.
He acts like he isn’t scared.
I promise you, he is.
He has absolutely no idea what he’s doing at first and almost died to Foxy but his reflexes (and ability to click small buttons) saved him (he shut the door before he ran into the office).
Kept a keen eye on Foxy since.
First jumpscare he’d get playing would be Freddy on night 4 because he doesn’t think he needs to look at the cameras.
Screams like a girl and then shuts off the game.
Is this damn close to killing Nikolai over how hard he’s laughing at his stupid scream.
Is forced (by Nikolai, so not really ‘forced’) to turn the game back on and beat at least night 5.
Ends up playing until he beats 4/20 mode.
This took him several weeks but he got it on video and was all cocky when he told Nikolai and Sigma he beat it.
(They do not believe him until they see the video he recorded of him beating it).
~~
Nikolai
Has probably played through the entire game at least three times.
Knows all the lore, has watched all the MatPat videos.
He definitely shows off all the secrets he gets while he’s playing the game.
Is disappointed that he didn’t get Golden Freddy on his runthrough.
Gets jumpscared only to scare Sigma and Fyodor.
(They hate him so much).
Has relatively no issues otherwise, up until night 6 where he starts dying over and over again.
Only laughs when he gets jumpscared.
The only one he’s actually flinched at has been Freddy when he was talking too much and forgot to shut the door when he flipped the camera up.
(He started cackling afterwards).
Cannot physically focus enough to attempt 4/20 but definitely did the “who will kil me first” thing where he just sits there throwing the camera up and down and waits.
Did the 1/9/8/7 trick and made Sigma scream (he thought he was safe).
Gets all giddy when the main three look at the camera on the stage (“Hehe they’re so creepy I love them!” “You have so many issues…”)
Knows the CD+ trick and probably used it to trick Sigma (Fyodor knew he cheated).
~~
Sigma
Definitely does NOT want to play.
Ends up playing anyway because he can’t say no to Nikolai.
First night scares the shit out of him, probably.
Camera breaks the first time and Bonnie’s not on the stage and he’s already screaming.
“Where the fuck is he WHERE THE FUCK DID HE GO” “Calm down, you’re not in danger yet!” “YET!?”
Is teased by Nikolai 24/7 for being so scared the whole time.
Runs out of power and Freddy is a bitch to him and kills him right away at 5 am.
All the worst FNAF nightmares that can possibly happen, happen to Sigma.
Gets Golden Freddy on night 4 after the phone call ends and he starts screaming and freaking out.
“WHAT THE FUCK- THE FUCKING POSTER WHAT IS IT DOING- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT- AAH FUCK-”
(Died to Golden Freddy).
Left the game running and got up and tugged at his hair out of agony on night 5 after Foxy’s already ran down the hallway.
Doesn’t even try to beat the game. Leaves a cackling Nikolai and a (shockingly) surprised Fyodor alone.
(Nikolai makes him come back to beat night 5 but that’s all he has him do).

So it appears that the next big topic in the Omori fandom is Matpats playthrough on it.
Thoughts under the cut:
While I am happy that the fandom is probably going to get bigger. I do hope that it gets bigger in the "right way" (as gatekeepy as that sounds). There are two things that I'm concerned about
Omori is a horror game. And while Matpat has covered horror games before (looking at you Fnaf) Omori is more of a psychological horror game, masked by pretty rpgmaker graphics. I'm not entirely sure if Matpat has covered rpgmaker horror games before (end roll, witches house, etc) and as such will go into it with the right expectations. Psychological horror games aren't "jumpscare heavy" adrenaline pumping games. They're meant to evoke unsettling feelings and lingering dread. Which can be more dangerous than normal jumpscare horror since psychological horror like that can have lingering effects even after you step away from the game.
In addition to being psycological horror. Omori deals with some heavy topics and potentially triggering themes. Suicide, self harm, guilt, etc. These things need to be appropriately disclosed and aknowledged or people can have adverse reactions or worse develop an unhealthy parasocial relationship with characters and situations in the game. Paired with the first point means that its not impossible for this game to aggravate suicidal ideations/tendencies. Not very likely, but still possible, and having a larger audience just increases that chance.
I guess my point being that as a big creator I hope Matpat is/will take appropriate steps to make sure people know what they're getting into. And from the second hand posts I've been seeing that's possibly not happening (I've not watched any of the playthrough myself). The worst thing that could happen to this fandom right now is suddenly having an influx of young kids and other unstable fans getting into Omori and suddenly all of us having to deal with those consequences.
Of course thats a sort of unavoidable thing. The nature of greater exposure means that we as a fandom are just going to have to deal with an influx like that, I'm just hoping that larger creators like Matpat do their own part to help manage that. That being said there are things that as a whole fandom we can do to cope as well. Please rember your trigger warnings, be mindful when discussing darker topics, use read more cuts and other similar tools to make sure that if people want to just enjoy the art/aesthetic of your creations without diving deeper into the unsettling topics/depictions then they can. And lastly treat each other well... If you see possible signs of suicidal ideation or are just worried about another person in general, please talk to them, and direct them to professional help if nesseccary.
Still remember that its also great exposure. Omori is a great game despite the dark topics, perhaps in a way because of them. It's an emotional experience and I really hope that more people find this game and come away from the experience positively. A bigger fandom means more creativity/ideas/discourse. And we should also be happy for that. So it's not all doom and gloom.

I'm gonna (try to) finish watching matpat's live stream of doki doki literature club right before I go to bed, this is fine right Like to be fair, there's only one kind of horror that can get to me super badly (ie nightmares) and its a "fear of the unknown" thing. And I don't mean in fiction in stuff; no, my mind has always been really good about separating the two. But not being able to tell if something is real or not, and its a scary thing? Terrifying. DDLC is 100% fictional and my brain knows this so I'm really not too concerned I would say DDLC is more likely to get me than, like, FNAF tho, based on what I've seen. FNAF is a master of building apprehension and I'm not a fan of jumpscares bc ow my ears (I literally cant play fnaf not directly because of the scares, but because they require audio cues to be heard and I can't listen and deal with potential jumpscares) but it'll never give me nightmares or anything. HOWEVER my brain has a hard time comprehending the phantom animatronics' designs, idk I just can't focus on them, and because of this they are BY FAR the scariest animatronics in the five games. FNAF 3 is considered kinda quieter than the other games but that's the one game Id debate playing solely for the visuals lol. But they never kept me up at night. Basically the worst DDLC can do is a more extreme version of that, and that doesn't scare me. PS I don't like gore horror either but it doesn't keep me up at night, I just feel sick when I see it
