I don’t know if you already answered a similar question but do you have any thoughts on Alfira? I was just thinking about how much it sucks that she’s not a companion. Could’ve had Lakrissa as a camp follower for a double wammy (wammie?idk)
She feels like a Mcguffin that was specifically made for Durge. The game was originally ment to be played as The dark urge like all the previous Baldur's Gate games where you are always a bhaalspawn, but they made a Tav option instead and I think that was a good decision.
In an unintentional way she is interesting because she is the only character who breaks away from the time loop in a second playthrough. You play as Tav and see this cute tiefling with the most heartfelt song, you can be kind and she is thankful, you can be cruel but honest and she admits you sound like her old teacher but you are right.
You keep remeeting her, keep saving her indirectly and view her journey. Much like Barcus except she has no ultimate showdown climax. Her sole purpose is to get to Baldur's gate and start a music school for bards, that's exactly what she does all by herself as long as you're there to pave the road for her from monsters.
Then, next playthrough, it's Durge, and you're surprised when she comes back to camp. You expected the characters to remain consistent with their plots, but she takes initiative in a timeloop. It's like the ghost of her previous life in the Tav save is giving her courage.
Her music is phenomenal, a lot of videogames gloss over actually putting in effort when it comes to ingame bards or music that aren't for background or credits. I'm glad they didn't cut corners around Alfira because her song left me in actual awe and was the best ever way to get me attached to this one tiefling.
She is a symbol of hope in a way, to sing amdist the war, to love amdist the chaos, to hope for a better future amdist ths shadows. She is what proof there is the tieflings have humanity in their ancestory, she is what sets tieflings apart from devils.
I was looking forward to meeting her in each act, especially when she takes the children singing after Mol gets kidnapped. That moment really resonated with me. No one else treats these kids as kids, all other adults are busy fighting and surviving so these kids are expected to grow up fast and fend for themselves. Wipe their own tears and tend to their own heartaches.
Not Alfira, she still saw them as children and comforted them with her music. She still kept this facade of hope that we keep around children during times of peace even when she knew that they weren't buying it.
She feels completely out of place in a beautiful way, a reminder of what you're fighting for. Of why you're trying so hard for these tieflings, of just how cruel the dead three can be.
Because it's easy to get lost in the big picture, the battle of gods, the chaos of arhchamges the, befalling of a vampire lord. Alfira is the single drawn flower in the corner of a grim painting that makes you reconsider your position in the grand nothingness of it all, make you realise how small every person is.
In baking, even with cakes you add salt to them to make the sweetness pop out more. That feels true with Alfira and I'm happy she got her deserved ending with Lakrissa. They are as normal and average as normal can be, and in a world of gods and devils, that's as beautiful as love can get.
I would've loved her as a camp follower too, not a companion no, I don't want her on the battlefield. But maybe she can stay back at camp and give us once a day free inspiration dice to use. Or maybe act as the music ingame changer? Like in Hades the videogame, you can rescue Orpheus and he is the only playing music and singing in the "camp" or home. You can talk to him and ask him to play specific songs or strum differently, it's pretty nice and would've made the camp feel a little more personalised.

okay I have to do this today because even I wouldn’t do it after the godforsaken finale airs, and it’s basically my specialty and I did spend like an hour thinking about it last night while washing dishes. Definitely partly inspired by @words-writ-in-starlight​‘s insightful post on everything Supernatural did wrong, and apologies in advance to all the characters for dragging them into anything related to Christian mythology:
Wei Wuxian’s parents die in a house fire when he’s 6(? I refuse to look anything up) months old
Jiangs are a hunter family I guess? That whole disaster of a family dynamic, except WWX dips out at some point to be idk an environmental activist bc at the time, that seems like the larger threat to the whole world. “Mom and Dad went on a hunting trip and they haven’t come back”, “bitch” “jerk”, 2 brothers in a beat-up old car, you know the drill
Jins are also an old hunting family, but more Men of Letters energy - they have a fancy bunker and do research and avoid getting their actual hands dirty. Jiang Yanli ducked out of the active hunting life a few years ago to be happily married to her peacock and settled down with a baby and she’s fine. We’re not going to bother Yanli. She’s safe and happy and doesn’t need to involved in any of this
so, WWX is the demon blood child developing exciting new abilities like telekinesis, mind control, exorcising demons by sheer force of will...etc, and Jiang Cheng is the Righteous Man. Lucifer, Michael, etc.
s1-3 probably proceeds more or less as spn canon...which I more or less remember...by the time they find their parents at the end of s1, Jiang Fengmian is...ugh, we probably shouldn’t kill him offscreen, I mean, we should probably meet him before he dies. I guess. Madam Yu lasts longer because I’m way more interested in her. But we do know that both Jiang parents are totally inclined to fling the boys into a metaphorical or literal escape boat and go hold the line for as long as possible, so...that’s spn energy...
Xue Yang is the one who’s like “fuck yeah, demon powers” and opens the gates of Hell, because I want him to have nice* things

from characterization rather than memory, I’m 90% sure that Dean tried to hide his crossroads deal from Sam, but Jiang Cheng does it...better. I think it does come out, though. Right before the hellhounds do.
here’s where it starts to go farther off from spn canon. Jiang Cheng crawls his way out of the grave, gets stalked by a menacing presence that explodes windows for an episode, incidentally can’t find WWX...*Lan Wangji voice* “I’m the one who gripped you tight and raised you from Perdition” (a baller line then and a baller line now)...and then the next episode starts with them all awkwardly standing around, and JC is like, “ok well let’s go find my brother then”, and you think there’s going to be an mdzs-riffing JC+LWJ Roadtrip To Find WWX...and they’re immediately attacked by like a dozen demons
in fact, the first time we see WWX in s4 is here, wherein he goes toe to toe with an angel and...holds his own. that’s new and terrifying! also is leading a squad of demons??
because here’s the thing: for the last 3(?) months, there’s been war in hell
because unlike Some People Mooses, upon finding out that his brother’s soul was legally nearly-owned by a crossroads demon, heir-apparent-to-Satan!WWX went, “actually fuck that” and kicked open the door of Hell (metaphorically, not loosing any demons this time) and was like, “who do I have to beat the shit out of to get a specific crossroads contract around here”
this did not work, obv. He didn’t know until it was too late, Lilith had already snapped up the contract, etc. etc.
obviously he also tried to offer himself instead, and got rejected for some reason
Since Jiang Cheng died, however, there’s been a war for control of Hell. Leading one side, Lilith, the Original Babe, who wants to break all 666(?) seals keeping Lucifer bound and in the meantime, break the Righteous Man so Heaven won’t even have Michael’s destined host ready for the Final Battle. Leading the other side, Wei Wuxian, infamous upstart, who wants to rescue the Righteous Man and restore him to life, tear Lilith’s guts out through her nose, and also stop her from doing the Lucifer thing because Wen Qing explained that yes, that’s a Thing, and it’s Bad.
Wen Qing! I’ve decided to combine Bela and Ruby’s roles and let WQ be both the cool badass example of how demon deals can go Bad and the demon deliberately leading our heroes astray for most of s3-4. Wen Qing is a very new demon; she used to be some sort of herbalist/witch but then she sold her soul in a crossroads deal to cure her brother of some lingering illness. 10 years of happiness and then boom, hellhounds. WQ is so obviously competent, though, that they (Lilith, I guess?) immediately offers her a job, with the promise threat that gee, that’s a nice brother you’ve got there, even with his Designated Chronic Health Condition getting all relapse-y. It’d be such a shame if something were to...happen to him...
we find this out at some point in last s3 I guess? some Monster of the Week case involves WN as a witness or something, or possible next victim, and WQ shows up to be A Normal Amount Of Invested In This, while desperately trying to avoid actually interacting with her brother (who thinks she’s dead). YES, the truth comes out; YES there’s a tearful reunion
now in s4, Wen Ning is fine actually, health-wise, bc he maybe made a crossroads deal with Wei Wuxian personally, and Wen Qing may or may not have admitted that she’s supposed to be working for Lilith to get WWX ready to host Lucifer? Or potentially that comes out later, idk. Either way, she’s 100% his top lieutenant in this exciting Hell War they’re waging
[insert whatever the hell (ha) happened plot-wise in s4 of supernatural]
we obviously mix up the relationships, too, bc it’s like, *LWJ internal monologue* I’m too young to remember my brother Lucifer as he was before he Fell, but surely Wei Wuxian is his Heir and Destined Vessel in truth, for he is Charismatic and Charming and Makes Me Feel Things, with his Clearly Feigned Righteous Drive and Compassion for All God’s Creatures and - why does heat keep pooling in the lower abdomen of my vessel when I look at his lips, which I am definitely doing a Normal and Not-Weird Amount - I’m just keeping an eye out for the famed Silver Tongue, and not in any way wondering how it would feel in my own mouth -
it’s actually DEFINITELY plausible for Lucifer to still be released even if our designated Heir Apparent is using his demon powers to his full potential and no one’s lying to each other about their motives. You just need to let Lilith be more scary too, and especially bc by “no one” I mostly mean Wen Qing; the angels are still totally hiding the fact that they, too, want to jumpstart the shit out of this apocalypse.  LWJ decides at the last minute that that’s a bad idea actually, gets himself discorporated to send JC to intercept WWX because he accidentally releases Lucifer, etc. etc. Oh yeah, the boys were def fighting before this, bc JC has actually fairly reasonable concerns about the sort of things WWX is getting up to in his quest to become King of Hell...

...I neither know nor care what happens in s5
it does end with both Lucifer and Michael locked in the cage probably, bc I rather liked that solution. Fuck both of ‘em, basically.
I was toying with the idea that WWX also found Madam Yu in whatever hellish torment she was suffering after making a deal so her idiot son(s) would survive, and she was leading forces for him in the war against Lilith as well. If she came back to life somehow, body and all, it’d probably be compelling if she offered her own body to Michael - bc it’s her lineage! - and we’re all led to believe that she’s, uh, being a bitch and actually wants to risk destroying the world in order to destroy all demons...but then she seizes back control and flings herself/Michael and Lucifer into the Pit, because she’s just That Hardcore?
which means we’d actually have had her around and having characterization for most of s4-5, too, which would be fun
More importantly, it ends with newly crowned King of Hell Wei Wuxian appointing Wen Qing as Queen-Regent and ditching to go on an indefinite honeymoon with his new angel boyfriend (they’re going to fuck for like three weeks straight, then roll up their sleeves and go conquer Heaven in the name of free will), and Jiang Cheng gets to live out his hitherto-unknown-to-himself life’s ambition to be the sugar baby of the Queen of Hell. It’s very Hades/Persephone, except he goes back down to the underworld at least once a month. He gets his own demon squad whom he trains up in all the hunting techniques and it’s gr9. Wen Qing is reforming the crossroads deal process to make it more fair to the humans.

it should go without saying but Jiang Yanli is definitely a recurring character, like, at least once a season there’s a filler episode where they go to Jiang Yanli’s for dinner and have to get along as a family, and also do the much easier job of defeating some sort of terrible demon that gets loose in the bunker and turns the evening into a horror movie. She’s their main research/emotional check-in person, a la Bobby, more often appearing in later seasons when there’s, uhhh, more to emotionally check in about.
Jin Zixuan is actually a perfectly competent hunter; he’s just a priss and we don’t Like him
we like Mianmian, though. Oh, I guess the official Hunter’s Guild or w/e tries to declare WWX a public enemy on account of the whole “King of Hell” thing and she’s like “actually what if you’re morons and assholes?” and joins hte team in s4 or 5? Yeah.
idk how the 3zun disaster happens in this ‘verse but I do encourage it to be happening in slow motion as a recurring subplot for several seasons. NMJ is a hunter, LXC is obv an angel, and JGY is...I wanna say one of the more human monsters, like a vampire? Or, you know, something that could be born from JGS sleeping with someone/something he shouldn’t have

Hmmm I realize now why Urianger is actually leaving the party at this point. It’s to force Thancred to actually do something concerning Minfilia. He’s served primarily as her emotional support up until now, with Thancred... idk he gave her a headpat a couple of times. His optional dialogue there was “I will talk to her. When the times is right.” You dumbass the time has been right for an eternity.
Oh and now we get death baited again. I was genuinely afraid the first time that they really killed Thancred. He seemingly had enough death flags for it, unlike with Y’shtola whose apparent death came from nowhere. God... and the hiding his very soul stuff... I wonder if that’ll make a return later. Certainly is convenient, not to mention dramatic. But man this really was bait, he just like, turns up fine later. Kinda dumb ngl.
Wtf I’m tearing up about Minfilia prime again... god...
Oh... OHHHH I understand what’s going on in this vision now! G’raha is reading Count Edmont’s book, and this roegadyn man is Bigg’s descendant... Huh, that’s funny. Two of the stories from Heavensward got muddled. A hero rides in astride a white dragon to save a little girl... The WoL riding into Ishgard on Midgardsormr, and Vidofnir saving the little girl. Fun detail.
?? Did Emet-Selch just SMILE at the WoL? His eyes crinkled. Do his eyes crinkle anywhere else??? Nobody else even saw that I think it might’ve been genuine, even if it’s just to see that the WoL hasn’t fallen apart yet. Like, he smiles in other places. There’s the mocking smiles, and the one last genuine but sad one near the end, but I can’t recall seeing one like that.

His logic makes sense. It IS relative, in this case. It of course doesn’t excuse the killing of millions and whatnot... it’s simply that the Ascians can’t accept things as they are now. A world without Zodiark is wrong. I wonder if they’d ever accept things as they are now if they weren’t tempered.
It’s silly that the game first explains the true nature of Ascians nowadays in some optional dialogue... the unsundered Ancients can raise fragments to become Ascians themselves, presumably anyone... though only fragments of the Convocation of Fourteen can rise to their respective office, through use of those... memory stones, or whatever they were. I’ll get back to that eventually.
Oh. You can also ask about Emet-Selch’s true name here, and there’s foreshadowing that you may one day learn... mannnnnnnnnn why do they have to kill him though??? The Hades fight is cool, though heart breaking. They bring back every other character, even Asahi to an extent for godsakes... The trailer, iirc, had a voice over from him so... maybe... maybe if we get more into the WoL being Azem... I dunno. I want to hope.
Ohhghhg I regret eating right before this bit with Vauthry downing... meol... ugghyhhh the noises this is awful I can feel my stomach turning :( That whole business... it’s not surprising the story moves past it quickly. Still funny though that they never outright acknowledge that all that was literally cannibalism.

So... he recognizes Azem even now. Huh. And what follows... he thinks the WoL would have liked it, Amaurot or however you spell it. He’s being... nice. Oh. That is... a sly proposition. He’s suggesting that the WoL just let things happen, that if they survive they’ll become whole. Of course Emet-Selch would want that, to have his friend back...
And now we come to the silliest plot point in the expansion. Really? Just make a giant Talos? Just like that? Even with an entire nation’s people working on it organizing everything and putting together the materials and all should take an eternity.
Duuuude I hate Mt. Gulg. Also this stupid audio effect they have on Vauthry, the echo is too much it hurts to try and understand what he’s saying, even with the text.
Ohhhhhhh myyyyyyyyy gooooooooooood G’raha’s deception is so bad but... it still hurts....... and Urianger... this is the most intense he sounds in the entire game... that “Do not interfere!”. G’raha!!!! You idiot!!!!! Gggghg. OH MY GOD THAT’S HIS RING HAND! HE’S REACHING TOWARDS HIM WITH THE HAND THAT BEARS HAURCHEFANT’S RING.... UNINTENTIONAL BUT GOOD!!!!!!! And finally his hood..... god.... I’m gonna cry again I can nbarely type./.... his inspiratyion...... and HIM EMET-SELCH!!!!!!!! GGGGGGGGGHGFHGH NO. THIS SUCKS SO BAD@!!!!

Seeing all of this... I wonder if Endwalker will attempt to top this level of relevance the WoL has. Suddenly... they are the existential threat. I mean again I suppose they could if they let the WoL take on Hydaelyn’s power as Zenos suggests. I do still hope that happens.
Ah... and again his ring hand to touch Ardbert..... cute... Hey wait why isn’t the WoL allowed to have any real heart to hearts with any of the Scions. Let them be friends :(
... ... wh. Why have they said the same thing? Emet-Selch says to the WoL before they depart, mocking how the world would react to the WoL’s affliction, “There is no hope. We are finished. Mankind is finished.” And. G’raha says this to Urianger once he arrives originally, to convey people’s reaction to the final calamity that befell the Source. I... suppose... Emet-Selch was watching? But that doesn’t make sense, they discuss other information here he doesn’t know. It’s just to draw a parallel, then? Oh. I see. G’raha then expounds on it and makes it something hopeful.
Oh also. It would have made infinitely more sense for it to have been one of Cid’s descendants to assist G’raha in traveling back in time. I can only assume that SE knows their fans well enough to know there would have been a crowd upset at what that implies with Cid, with how much they play around with the rivalry between him and Nero. Very funny thing to notice.
I can’t get out of my head what must have been the WoL’s original plan to reach Emet-Selch... take an Amaro over open water, then just dive in and swim around until the find him.
Ohhggh... I love Urianger his apology is so cute... he’ll stay by the WoL’s side for as along as he is able, if they’re willing to forgive or at least set aside their displeasure... even if they’re a danger to those around them...
Ohh and Alisaie!!!! This is why ShB is so good they actually CARE about the WoL it’s so nice... Oh right, and Urianger actually acknowledges their poorly thought out plan and thinks it’s silly. I don’t remember this from the first time, that swimming that far would probably make them die from exhaustion anyhow.
I saved this as a draft when my internet was being stupid hoping closing firefox would help. It did not. Anyways i came back to close this up and also note. I have been playing GNB terribly wrong for a while now. You’re granted a bonus damage ogcd after every move of your cartridge combo, not just the last one. I’m so stupid I thought it was like, an option of which one to use, but no. GNB is confusing, the combos are like... barely combos you can interrupt them to do whatever and return to them later. I’m looking at the optimal opener and i can feel my brain melting how the hell do I remember this??? I mean I don’t have to yet, I’m not at 80, but jfc. Idk if I’m ever gonna be able to raid like, properly lining up skills during battles sounds too difficult for me. I have a pea brain when actually fighting things case in point that one raid where it makes you do simple addition and division. It made me think 6+4 was 12. It’s hard enough for me as is to not let too many ogcds drift, at least not too bad...
Anyways. going to keep playing but I can wrap this up.

OH WAIT MEGG!! I have a small addition to my other post or MC protecting Zeus with the events in Hades route. Or an idea similar to it. I’m just tryna do homework that’s due today and I’m stressed but take this idea for the events in Hades route:
Imagine if MC was taken instead?
LIKE IK IM REPEATING MYSELF WITH “Zeus would be panicking,” SO IM STOPPING THAT SO, now let’s imagine Alex. Alex doesn’t know it at first, they’re waiting for MC to be back. And she’s not dating Zeus or Hades she was just invited up there with Alex, but Alex had to leave for something. But they trust for things to be okay, they left her with their mother and Hades and they trust them. However, things go terribly wrong, and they didn’t know. They didn’t know until Hades came down the elevator, and it was broken so no one was coming down or up, and Alex didn’t see MC.
“Where is she?” It was the first thing that came out of their mouth, and it sounded more panicked than they wanted to show. And to make it more heartbreaking, they weren’t together yet. As in, Alex hasn’t told her how they feel, how much they love her, how much they’d sacrifice to be with her, and now she was gone. “No. Don’t think like that. She’s strong and so are you. You’ll find her,” they would tell themselves, trying to convince themselves that everything will be okay. But it’s hard.
Of course it’s hard. The love of their life is missing and they don’t know where she is. GODS their heart hurts, but they push through it. They prayed for her safety before this, now they’re praying almost every second. They worry for the Gods, but MC is more often on their mind. They work harder than they ever have. It hurts their limbs sometimes since they sit in the chair all day or it hurts bc they’re running around all the time, actually chasing leads to find her. They only time they go home is when they truly realize how late it is, or when Hades tells them to go home. And they do because Hades basically demands them to.
Not as a boss or a God, but as someone who loves them and is worried. They agree to go home because they know they probably do need it, but their heart is heavy and it pounds with guilt and fear. They barely get any sleep while she’s gone, but they know she would want them to get sleep, so they try. They try for her and everyone counting on them. And your idea of Alex contacting MC through dreams, ITS MCS TURN!! It happens one night in the office, they’ve dozed off and managed to fall asleep, and it’s dark when they open their eyes, BUT MC IS IN FRONT OF THEM.
But she looks so scared, there are a few bruises on her face and a few scratches. Her clothes are torn a bit and it all breaks Alex’s heart. She’s hurt, scared, and Alex still doesn’t know where she is. “MC!” MC would try to smile at them, but it stops short and they run to her in the dream, but they can’t touch her. That little reminder that it’s not real makes Alex wince. “Alex, I don’t know what they plan to do with us. I haven’t seen your mother, I’ve been by myself. They keep me locked up and I’ve tried to escape but I can’t! Not on my own,” she said, tears flowing down her face. Alex’s heart somehow broke even more, but they pushed past it. They have to focus on her, she’s more important. And they talk, and MC gives details but it doesn’t help much, but they don’t blame her. She doesn’t know where she is either. But after they think about it, they realize where she is.
She’s in Tartarus, and it gives their heart a shock. How did she even survive going there? They’ve been there but they’re a demigod! Their body could handle it, but they don’t know about a mortal. But then another thought comes to their mind. What if she is dead? What if she is only contacting them because she’s dead. And it causes them to go to Hades IMMEDIATELY and explains everything and Hades brings them both to Tartarus (helll timeee). When they get there, they see the titans, Selene and Helios. Hades tells Alex to go and find MC and to see if anyone else is there, so they run. They run with everything in them. They have to get to her, they have to. And then they do. I haven’t played Astraeus’ route so idk what Tartarus looks like SO lets just say she’s in Astraeus’ room,,yeah that works. She’s on the bed and she’s asleep or passed out, but Alex doesn’t know, so they run over to her and see her breathing.
And that causes them to start breathing again. They didn’t even know they were holding their breath, but they were, and now air could fill their lungs with relief. They look around the room and don’t see any of the other Gods there, so they just take MC and run out of the room. Selene and Helios are attacking Hades and he’s holding them off for right now, and he tells Alex to get MC somewhere safe, and they don’t hesitate lol. So they get her safe and leave her with agents, but ONLY because they are not leaving Hades down there. He is strong but he may need help so they go, and they fight together and see that the Gods are hereee. Not where MC was but deep in Tartarus I guess.
I wonder where the Gods actually were. Did we learn that in Hades route and I just don’t remember it? IDK but anyways,,she’s in the infirmary and after the Gods are dealt with and Alex is excused, they RUSH OVER TO MC!! And wait for her to wake up. She does and looks at them with a smile. Their breath is taken away, but they’re so happy. Their world is now bright again and they know everything’s gonna be okay,,,
And then they tell her how they leave, she says she feels the same, and they share their first kiss. And it’s kinda funny how it’s in the INFIRMARY that they share their first kiss gripjew. But we love it :)). I hope you like this and there wasn’t too much proofreading bc I need to get it out and do homework-

Tomorrow and Tomorrow I’ve heard people speculate it could be the people of the alternate Source future or the Amaurotines, and if it is the Amaurotines whether it’s directed at the Warrior or Hades or both is also up in the air. So while there is the very, very literal reading where it’s like yes this is the First and the first arc and focused all about things that happened in the First’s plot, I think the secondary meaning might seriously apply to the overarching patch arc/Ascians as a whole. 3) Pls don’t be afraid to challenge me on shit lol I just found this and am flying by the seat of my pants.

“For whom weeps the storm/her tears on our skin” honestly the most significant point posed imo outside of nice imagery is that the question needs to be asked. Could be either or both, respecting WoL and co. versus the Ascians/dead Amaurot. “The days of our years gone/our souls soaked in sin” again, could be either side here. Depends on what further gets revealed about the fourteenth member of the Convocation and the summoning of Hydaelyn probably, but I think it’s fair to say both sides got stained in shitloads of blood. “These memories ache with the weight of tomorrow” not only is the history painful, having to keep moving forward and figure out some kind of future in light of it just makes it more painful. Also a note, a few other peeps online noted that Emet-Selch reacted insanely strong/negatively when Urianger and Y’shtola commented on his future. And just as another thread, I want to highlight that the Ascians for a good chunk of their appearances talked about things being foretold.

First two lines are relatively straightforward imo, WoL versus Ascians there. It could be Emet-Selch versus WoL specifically but honestly I’m unsure. Tbh it could be fellow summoners along with WoL versus Ascians or it could be one person versus one person. “Threescore wasted, ten cast aside” IT TOOK ME. A GOOD WHILE. TO FIGURE THIS OUT. There’s a saying “threescore and ten” that existed historically. Threescore is sixty. Ten is... ten. But basically, back in the day seventy years was the generally accepted average livespan for a human being. Threescore wasted = sixty years of a seventy year lifespan in vain, ten cast aside = ten years of a seventy year lifespan. “Fourfold knowing” I think has a double meaning within too. First, there’s an idea in Buddhism called the Fourfold Round that I think is precisely what this is referencing. These come out to direct knowledge of feeling, direct knowledge of perception, direct knowledge of fabrications, and direct knowledge of consciousness. Given these, I suspect that at minimum by the end of patch 5 the three Unsundered Ascians and the Warrior of Light will all fit into roles within this, and we’ll probably be able to tell which is which. Personally I’m leaning toward WoL being direct knowledge of consciousness because especially when you factor in the Echo that gets pretty wild. An additional level though, four in East Asia is commonly associated with death. So no end in sight coming right after FOURfold seems like it’s missing some foreshadowing of the end. Possibly.

AMAUROT IS UNDERWATER IN THE TEMPEST. SHIT’S FLOODED. ASCIANS ARE PROUD ANGELS BATHING IN WAGES OF BLOOD. EITHER THE SHARDS + SOURCE GOTTA END TO REGAIN THE ORIGINAL WORLD OR THE ORIGINAL WORLD HAS TO END TO MAINTAIN THE SHARDS + SOURCE. And casting off tomorrow, if we jump up to previous lyrics about memories aching with the weight of tomorrow--I think this foreshadows being liberated from pain of past and future both to continue living in the present. Again, could be wrong about how that gets interpreted, but I do think a link is there. Also I mean the world is ending, that’s the point you no longer have to worry about what comes next. There is no next.

First two lines, everyone who exists is gonna tie into the tragedy of how the shards + Source came to be and the conflict between WoL and co. versus Ascians. “Brief our moments" through “tempered in ice” I think is referring to the whole strength born from limitations and facing negative emotions/obstacles rather than avoiding them. Hindmost devils means the devils farthest back are the first to rise, which could be WoL or Ascians depending on reading. If it’s the Ascians and they’re taken as fallen angels I mean devils are fallen angels. But that also mixes metaphors given proud angels earlier. If mixed metaphors are a non-issue though, “Hindmost devils” through “sleep when they die” would more or less translate to the oldest devils are the first to act and seize power. They celebrate the coming of night and do not sleep. “Heaven’s banquet” through “pride” again, disclaimer mixed metaphor going on but I think it might be neat if it is WoL and co. or more specifically Hydaelyn. I don’t think it strictly comes to Heaven/Heroes = evil but that Heaven has hidden corruption that makes people feel better about themselves but is kind of ugly. Then again, all of this could probably be flipped too. This section is tricky. But if run from the light = Hydaelyn that shit’s gonna be fascinating. Also, I do think Zenos whether he just attempts or succeeds in nabbing one of the big two primals is actually gonna go for Hydaelyn. Lots of reasons for this including “she won the first time” and “Zenos dun give af about creation” and “she’s right there whereas Zodiark is super scattered” and “Zenos is basically an opposite to Emet-Selch philosophically and might work as another way of exploring negative light connotations”. But run from the light would be reaaaaal interesting if that goes down.

“Authors of our fates/Orchestrate our fall from grace” the characters involved created the primals themselves, in so doing being the authors of their fates and damning themselves when shit went out of control. Could precede that too and be broadened to other circumstances probably. I do think it is gonna come up that all the bad shit that happened stemmed from choices made though. “Poorest players on the stage/Our defiance drives us straight to the edge” references some Shakespeare. This being “Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player/That struts and frets his hour upon the stage/And then is heard no more. It is a tale/Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury/Signifying nothing.” Shakespeare bit is saying that life is brief and ultimately not real/an act where everyone worries during the brief span of the story but all too fast it’s over. There’s a ton of passion but ultimately it’s small and petty and meaningless. If we link this back to poorest players on the stage and the defiance, it is basically challenging the idea of a brief life being meaningless. So would apply more to the mortal characters. “Reflection in the glass” I thiiiink might reference the idea of real identity versus not real but idek. “Recollections of our past/Swift as darkness, cold as ash/Far beyond this dream of paradise lost” these lines are prob linked as a trio far as I can tell. Memory comes fast as darkness/the coming of night (tying back to sing come twilight maybe? also the end of the world as it is), cold as ash refers to the dead of Amaurot probably. And I’m not positive on that juxtaposition with paradise lost, but it may be suggesting that the dream of perfection rings hollow and there’s a reason that what is now being remembered as paradise is long dead.

One more chapter = gotta get closure for Amaurot and the Ascians. “Want for nothing, nothing denied/Wand’ring ended, futures aligned” this took me a bit, and it feels like possibly a reach imo, but my guess for now is: Emet-Selch was talking before about maybe there being a way forward without so much bloodshed. I still think guy’s gonna come back as a clone and I think/hope that we can fuckin’ trust recruit him (”I may even lend you my knowledge and strength” I AM HOLDING YOU TO THAT EMET-SELCH IF I HAVE TO BEAT MY ENEMIES TO DEATH WITH YOUR CORPSE) and find some kind of middle ground that doesn’t just = fuck Amaurot and destroy Zodiark. That would feel too simple to me. I kind of think some sort of rejoining will need to happen... but not simply Zodiark rejoining into a giant monster primal. I think Hydaelyn and Zodiark gotta become one being.
Also. If that is the case Lahabrea better have some fucking good notes to justify that dumb attempt to fuse with Igeyorhm in a first-time aether experiment while fighting the Warrior of Light. Because then it would be more cool even if the timing was still terrible life choices.
But yeah I think that’s gonna tie into futures aligned stuff.

Part 2 of why the pjo movies shouldn’t exist, and now that they do, you should refrain from watching.
Continuation to my post before last. (Yes, I got through the rest of it, I’m surprised too, and not mentally stable)
(After Percy gets healed by the water)
If you saw my other post you know that I turned it off during the capture the flag scene, the whole movie is incredible horrible so I was wondering why that scene was even worse, so I broke it down;
Percy and Annabeth are on opposing teams.
Percy’s a better sword fighter than three people from the other team combined. (Who Luke had said to be sons of Ares)
Annabeth was the only one gaurding her flag.
Needless to say, Percy didn’t get guarding duty, like in the books.
I already mentioned Annabeth’s speach, so unlike her it’s not ok.
She’s been training for five years, but if we take her movie age, at least nine. Yet Percy is almost as good as her.
She should be using a dagger, Luke’s dagger, not a sword.
Everyone has the exact same sword, although Percy has Riptide, other than the pen feature it’s the same as everyone else’s.
Needless to mention swords are the only weapon being used.
Everyone has the exact same shield.
Annabeth and Percy are fighting and people are just watching. That’s not how capture the flag works.
^^^ No one’s trying to steal the flag, neither flag in fact, when it’s clear the blue flag (Percy’s team) is poorly guarded, if at all.
Still no Clarisse, still no electric spear.
Percy beats Annabeth in combat.
Percy just raises the flag and suddenly they won.
There was no claiming. Spoiler alert: In the whole movie.
And now, to my normal form of complaining opinion experessing.
Where are the tables?

Percy’s supposed to feel alone seating at the Poseidon table.
Nymphs are suddenly horny teenage girls that throw parties I guess.
What even is supposed to be her place? They live in trees.
Grover’s suddenly also a horny teenager. You already threw away his personality a little more won’t matter I suppose.
Percy is not happy about being a hero.
Annabeth is smart enough to know that. She doesn’t think he’s all ‘victorious and got the fame up his head’
WHY WOULD HADES WANT THE LIGHTING BOLT.
Also, why would he appear in flames in the middle of dinner.
Chiron’s protective instinctives don’t exist.
Good to know the Oracle is as exsistent as the Big House.
Percy Jackson would never sneak out of camp.
Grover Underwood would never agree.
Annabeth Chase would never accompany them.
Not their 12 year old selves or however old they are supposed to be.
Luke has technology.
Luke hides bolt in shield because he just happens to know that they’re sneaking out of camp today.
He also happens to have a pair of flying shoes from his dad who he has never met.
And a magic, super convenient map. Also from his dad.
Luke Castellan is smart enough to not mention that he hates his dad in front of them. Specially Annabeth, who he knows how smart she is.
They stumble upon Aunt Em’s in plain daylight, because the map says they have to.
Oh yeah, forgot to tell you, Percy never destroyed national monuments, which never led to him getting magic pearls.
They also never go to the water park.
They never meet Ares, or Aphrodite.
We never learn about Annabeth’s phobia of spiders.
Their actual quest is getting the pearls that will get them out of the underworld, because Luke oh-so-conveniently knew exactly that they would do that.
Not Grover who fought so much to get Annabeth, Luke, and Thalia to camp. Not Annabeth, who survived on the streets when she was seven. Not even a first-quest Percy would suggest to split up. Much less agree.
Percy has a phone.
Medusa doesn’t try to trick them or anything she just straight up goes, I’mma turn ya to stone.
Apparently the temptation to look Medusa in the eyes is too much so this random woman does and turns to stone.
Medusa’s horny af.
I would make a comment on the fact that’s it’s for Annabeth, but like, other than the not-really-actually-exsisting age gap.... they’re Greek.
“Yeah, I’m just gonna seduce this girl into opening her eyes”
Percy decapitates Medusa with pretty much no problem.
Grover can drive.
Grover found a truck, with vines all over it, found the key, and knew how to drive not to mention the car actually worked.
Percy can drive.
Magic seat changing between one scene and the other.
They can afford a hotel.
They can also check in the hotel without being questioned.
They keep Medusa’s head in a sink, in the bathroom. They also got ice for it.
They keep their curtains open.
More Percy just seating underwater doing nothing.
Percy can now heal other with water.
Apparently the gods are forbidden to communicate with their kids.
Producer: Sir, here it says that Annebth likes architecture. We should mention that. Director: Have her go ‘woah’ when she sees a monument. Producer: You’re a genius.
Annabeth sneaks into the boys bathroom in the middle of the day and no one notices.
No one checks, or cleans the bathrooms at the end of the day.
Annabeth has a computer which she uses to video chat Luke.
Luke’s flying shoe gift work perfectly. And even though he said it might take “a little practice” Percy can almost master them.
Hydras can look like/poses people.
Percy. Pays. Attention. To. Chiron’s. Class.
Perseus Jackson knows that you can’t cut a Hydra’s head.
Movie Percy Jackson single handedly cuts all seven Hydra heads before they can regenerate.
Good thing only nine grew back.
Also convenient that Grover carries Medusa’s head around.
Medusa can also turn monsters to stone??? I’m not sure if that one’s canon or not.
Magic map says Lotus hotel because magic pearl ends up here.
The Lotua hotel is NOT suppose to look like... that.
Annabeth wouldn’t take food from such a sketchy place.
Grover would detect that there’s something wrong with the food at least.
That’s is not how the magic of the Lotus casino works.
Friendly reminder that Grover has no personality or emotions other than horny.
And there goes Poseidon speaking in Percy’s mind again.
There’s people chasing after Percy who we never actually learn who they are??
Percy, back to his senses, doesn’t find anything weird about this guy knowing his last name.
Car that was on display is completely functional with no protection for people to steal, and the keys are right there.
Somehow rushing out Percy grabbed the pearl that was oh-so-conveniently next to him when he got back to his senses.

Part 3.
We never know where they parked the car, as far as we know it’s in the middle of a mountain.
There’s Ancient Greek written in the H of the Hollywood sing and if you read the translation aloud you get a passage to the underworld. How convenient.
Friendly remainder that Grover has no personally part... how many times has he said something again?
The entrance to the underworld is a farse.
The under is a farse.
How is that supposed to be the River Styx? How are you supposed to jump in that?

I understand that many have different points of view as to how the Hades-Persephone relationship should work but Uncle Rick wrote it so it was a happy relationship so please stop with your “he’s abusive and I look forward to getting out of here” BS you’re not even suppose to be here in the first place, it’s summer.
Grover and Persephone are horny for each other, and since they only have three pearls Grover does the ‘sacrifice’ to stay down here.
Sally, Annabeth, and Percy picture the exact same place with no communication what so ever. Not even glances or nods, nothing.

Luke has another pair of flying shoes, he goes to the Empire State Building flying.
Luke would never admit in front of Annabeth what he wants, he loves her so much. Even back then, just as a sister.
That’s not even what Luke wants.
Annabeth’s dagger is gone again, replaced by a sword.
Percy happens to have the flying shoes with him.
Percy and Luke have the same amount of sword fighting skill.
Luke takes the bolt from Percy and flies away enough for Percy to have to chase him but not enough to, idk, get out of there.
Percy does not suspect Luke -who wanted him to fail on this quest- would have done anything to the shoes.
The shoes that the first time Percy wore took him time, he can wear perfectly now with no effort what so ever. This kid is a master of the skies.
^ Which he shouldn’t be because Zeus pretty much hates him right now.
Percy uses his powers for the first time in the whole movie (not even unintentionally before) and can control them better than he could in, I dunno, the third or fourth book.
Luke throws his sword to cut to the wings in Percy’s shoes. Not really convenient his like, a foot from the roof of a building.
Luke loses his flying shoes and Percy can take them because they happen to be right next to him.
Percy flies back.
What do you mean there’s no elevator music?
Or grouchy guard?
Mount Olympus looks good, ngl.

Anyways, I survived, but I wanted to sum up + add some things, for both posts...

The only time Annabeth’s dagger showed up it wasn’t used.

Annabeth-Chiron relationship is nonexistent.
Annabeth-Luke relationship is nonexistent.
Thalia’s tree never appears.
Nothing about Annabeth’s or Luke’s backstory is ever mentioned.
Nymphs are horny teenagers.
Gabe is a completely different person. (Still an ass but, not properly.)
Persephone is horny.
Medusa’s horny.
Every female in the lotus hotel is horny.
There’s more but honestly I die a little more every time I write something.
Let this be a guide to what not to do in the new adaptation.

I was wondering,,, why do you say the dark wife is one of the worst books you've read? I read it a few years ago, and I dont remember anything about it tbh, so I'm curious
Oh boy, where do I start? I had a lot of problems with this novel, both as a Greek myth retelling and from a writing standpoint. Now, keep in mind that I read thisabout 2 years ago, so I might be forgetting some small details here and there, but I’ll try to explain the main reasons it bugged me so much. So buckle up, because this is gonna be a long one.

Characters: All the characters are two-dimensional and poorly developed. None of them have any amount of nuance or depth.Zeus is moustache twirling villain who is evil for the sake of being evil. Hades is as good as Zeus is evil, endlessly noble and selfless and devoted. I genuinely can’t remember a single defining trait of Persephone? She’s such abland and generic protagonist, nothing really stands out about her in my memory other than her obsessive pining over Hades and hatred of Zeus. A lot of this feels like it’s pulled straight from the shallow and occasionally downright inaccurate readings of Greek myths that have become so popular in recent years, especially on places like tumblr (Zeus as an evil rapist, Hades as a pure cinnamon roll, Persephone descending willingly into the Underworld, etc.).But there are also more confusing takes on these characters, like turning chaste virgin goddess Athena into a self-centered, promiscuous lesbian (not to say that being a lesbian or being promiscuous is bad, it’s just such a strange interpretation of Athena’s character that doesn’t make any sense)And don’t even get me started on poor Charis! Charis, Persephone’s first lover in the book, exists solely to be raped and killed by Zeus. She’s fridged to show us that Zeus is BAD and giving Persephone a reason to hate him. The author’s treatment of this character is lazy and offensive. I’m sure this is something that won’t bother all readers, but as someone with a deep love for the mythology, I found the portrayal of the Greek gods franklyinsulting. Plot:“Three thousand years ago, a god told a lie.”Here we run into a big problem with the narrative. We’re told from the very prologue that the story of Hades and Persephone we’re familiar with is a lie, a narrative created by Zeus, and this is Persephone’s attempt to set the record straight.These are the first lines of our story: “I am not my mother’s daughter. I have forfeited my inheritance, my birthright. I do not possess the privilege of truth. The stories told by fires, the myth of my kidnap and my rape, are all that remain of me. Forever I will be known as the girl who was stolen away to be the wife of Hades, lord of all the dead. Andnone of it is true, or is so fragmented that the truth is nothing more than ashadow, malformed. The stories are wrong. I am not who they say I am.I am Persephone, and my story must begin with the truth.Here it is, or as close as I can tell it.”Well, this doesn’t really make any sense when, at the end of the story, Zeus is defeated and thrown into Tartarus. Why does this narrative survive into modern day when Hades and Persephone won? Why is Persephone only able to tell her story now, after thousands of years without Zeus in power? Speaking of Zeus and lies, the justification for the whole “What, Hades is awoman?!” thing really doesn’t make any sense. We’re told that Zeus calls Hades “lord” of the dead as a joke, Hades even refers to it as a “slur” in the story. The reason given for this is that Hades is only attracted to women. Well, if that’s the case, why doesn’t that same logic apply to Athena, who’salso shown to be attracted only to women? Or to Persephone for that matter? Same-sex attraction, even between women, is never shown to be frowned upon in their society, so why would Zeus single out Hades for her attraction to women? And why do all the other gods apparently go along with that “joke” to the point that Persephone literally didn’t know Hades was a woman until she meets her in person? And why, again, did this idea of Hades being a man survive into modern day? The story is constructed so poorly on so many different levels. There are so many threads that are just dropped entirely. For example:- The story starts with Demeter confidently proclaiming that Persephone will become the queen of the gods, setting up this big rivalry between her and the daughters of Hera and Aphrodite. This plot never goes anywhere, in fact, I don’t think it’s ever brought up again after the first chapter, and Demeter basically spends the rest of the book cowering before Zeus. - There’s a significant plotline about Pallas having Persephone try to deliver a message to Athena, a plotline that is unceremoniously dropped without anyresolution. After all the build-up, there’s a throwaway line about Pallas giving the note to Persephone right before the big showdown with Zeus, and that’s the last we hear of it. We never see it delivered, we don’t get to see Athena’s reaction to it, we don’t know how this impacts Pallas, if at all. In fact, Pallas basically doesn’t show up at all after this point. Then there’s the main conflict of the story: Zeus wants Persephone, and as we’re told over and over and over, Zeus always gets what he wants (the author really beats this into our heads). We’re never really given any motivation for any of Zeus’ actions, so this conflict feels weak and contrived. It doesn’t help that we get so much build-up for what a terrible threat he is, and then Persephone defeats Zeus, the most powerful god, feared by all, in like… two pages? It’s such a weak and anticlimactic end to the story.
There was also some sort of convoluted plan concocted by Zeus to, idk, have the dead rise up and overthrow Hades? For some reason? Again, we never get any clear motivation from Zeus. As far as I can remember, we’re never told why he hates Hades so much, or why he wants to overthrow her. I don’t even remember if the author explained what Zeus was going to do with the Underworld without Hades there to rule. I’m sorry, I genuinely can’t even remember the details, but it was just reallybadly set up and, once again, easily solved in a few pages.And that’s really the main problem with the story, everything is so easily solved. Our good guys all get happily ever afters with no sacrifices and no consequences for anything, and there’s always a quick and easy solution to any threat or conflict. Mythology:So how does it hold up as a Hades and Persephone retelling?Well, not great, imho. A lot of classical elements are incorporated into this retelling, but they’re stripped of any meaning or importance to the plot. The pomegranate? It’s there at their wedding, but it never figures into the greater narrative.Demeter causing famine by bringing infertility to the fields? She does freeze the world in this story, threatening everlasting winter, but unlike in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, it’s not an act of agency on her part, refusing to submit to the will of Zeus and fighting to be reunited with her daughter. Nah. She’s just being manipulated by Zeus and it’s used as a cheap reason to tear our lovers apart.And somehow, I don’t even know why seeing as it doesn’t tie into Demeter freezing the earth or Persephone eating the seeds of the pomegranate, butPersephone is still forced to spend half the year on earth and half in theUnderworld.In the epilogue, we see her in modern day New York*, acting as psychopomp (for some reason???), happily guiding the souls to the afterlife, which we’re told is her duty for the half of the year she spends above ground. I’m just so confused as to what the author was even going for here. Where did this come from? It doesn’t originate in the original myths, but it’s also not explained (as far as I can remember) in the book.*This isn’t a problem with the book per se, and it’s 100% a matter oftaste, but I personally really dislike it when mythological figures appearin a modern setting, especially when the author has to put them in anAmerican setting rather than the geographical location of their origin, whetherthat’s Greece or Egypt or Scandinavia or what have you. Romance: Hades and Persephone are destined soulmates and instantly fall in love pretty much the moment they first set eyes on each other, which doesn’t allow for any growth or progression of their relationship. They’re instantly deeply and madly in love with each other and their feelings never change over the span of the story. They spend most of their time together staring lovingly into each others eyes and when they’re separated for literally 3 days Persephone basically spends her entire days languishing in despair.It’s ridiculously melodramatic and cheesy, which again, personal taste thing,I’m just really not into. Other writing issues: - The worldbuilding is pretty much non-existent. The story doesn’t feel grounded in any particular time period or cultural context, and you never get any sense of the setting, or how the world works and what this society is like.  - The pacing was really poor, either dragging or exploding into rushed action. - A lot of page time is spent on describing things that doesn’t really further the plot or has any thematic relevance. One example would be the garden of metal and precious stones Hades made for Persephone. It’s cool I guess? But what purpose does it serve? We also waste a lot of time which could be better used developing the characters or moving the plot forward on watching Persephone play with puppy Cerberus or petting Hades’ horses (see poor pacing). - There’s a lot of talk about Persephone having some sort of grand destiny, and that her actions have been prophesized. This is never properly explained and it only serves to weaken Persephone’s story arc, stripping her of agency by implying that she doesn’t really have a choice in the matter. Prophecy and destiny are story elements that have to be handled delicately and are easy to screw up, and they’re just dealt with so clumsily here.  - Also the writing was just… not very good.I’m sure there are more things I could dig up and complain about, but I feel like this is probably too long and rambly already, so I’ll stop here.
Obligatory disclaimer:This is obviously just my personal opinion. There are a lot of people who love this book (going by Goodreads ratings, I am clearly in the minority) and I am genuinely happy for them! I also mean no disrespect to the author who seems like a genuinely lovely person.

can you please explain how ningsang is ride or die?
honestly i feel like it’s obvious that they are ride or die if you watch the drama/read the book but i’ll indulge you since you’re giving me an excuse to write out all my feels and i just came back from watching into the spider-verse so i’m in a really happy mood lol (btw spider-verse was really very good i cried my little heart out like 4 different times but it was sooooooo good and miles morales is my son now and deserves a live action already @ marvel do better!!)
don’t expect this to be very coherent or organized lol i’m literally gonna word vomit all my feels so here goes; it’s under a cut because this got really ridiculously long. also beware of spoilers.
honestly i think from the very beginning when ning que finds sang sang in the pile of dead bodies is when the whole ride or die dynamic starts?? like he was only maybe 4-years-old if i remember correctly when he found her and he didn’t have to take her with him. he was only a child and already barely surviving but he did it anyway and basically took care of her from then on until she was old enough to help out and they started surviving together. (ugh i cry every time i think about their found family dynamic and how from the beginning it’s been them against the world and it’s still them against the world and it’ll always be them against the world because no on else could possibly understand what they’ve had to do in order to survive for as long as they did ughhhh my heart!!!!!!!!!) 
when they were in the mountains, they were found by a hunter and taken in but the hunter didn’t treat them very well. the hunter abused them all the time and barely gave them enough to eat and was always threatening to sell sang sang off as a prostitute (sang sang was maybe about 4 or 5 at this point i think so you can imagine just how horrible this old man was). ning que by himself probably could have gotten away from the hunter and survived on his own but he wouldn’t leave sang sang behind so the two of them endured all the abuse until they couldn’t anymore. they killed the hunter together and ran away. they continue to survive in the wilderness after that until coming to wei city and live there until what we meet them at the start of the drama when the princess comes and they make their way to chang’an.
and idk in general there’s just been so many moments where you can see how protective they are of each other. sang sang gets so very defensive of ning que and ning que really would murder anyone who tries to hurt sang sang. like we can see from that scene with long qing at the banquet, ning que got really fired up once long qing suggested that ning que give him sang sang. before any attention was put on sang sang, ning que was just annoyed at long qing by how arrogant he was (and probably because sang sang said long qing was handsome before that lmaoooo but that’s just ning que being a dumb teenage boi who hasn’t yet realized his changing feelings for sang sang) but as soon as they came for sang sang, hoooooooo boy, ning que really came for long qing’s life and humiliated him in front of everyone at the banquet. 
and then we have ning que basically asking every single person he knew to look after sang sang for him before he left to the wilderness. he couldn’t bear to leave her behind but he had to so this was the only way he knew how to protect and look after her from afar. ALSO THAT SCENE IN THE DRAMA WHERE THE PRINCE WAS HARASSING SANG SANG?? AND NING QUE HAD HIM IN A CHOKE HOLD?? AND ONLY DIDN’T MURDER THAT IDIOT RIGHT THEN AND THERE WAS BECAUSE HE KNEW IT WOULD BRING THEM A LOT OF TROUBLE IF HE MURDERED ROYALTY??? BUT HONESTLY IF NING QUE DIDN’T HAVE TO HOLD BACK THAT PRINCE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD IN A SECOND. LIKE HOW DARE YOU COME AFTER MY SANG SANG?? GOD I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.
and like the entire time ning que was in the wilderness, despite his budding feelings towards mo shan shan, he still spent so much time thinking about sang sang and just missing her and home. like hello, SANG SANG WASN’T NING QUE’S LIFELINE. SANG SANG WAS NING QUE’S LIFE. which are his thoughts immediately after another confrontation with long qing. at this point, ning que the shameless boy that he is, was hiding behind mo shan shan and not willing to fight long qing because his first instinct is survival. he knew he wasn’t as powerful as long qing and if they fought, he probably would die. long qing obvi wasn’t gonna let ning que get away that easily so he brought up the only thing, only PERSON, that he knew would get to ning que and provoke him into taking basically a life or death bet with long qing about cultivating or whatever (i forget the details i was too caught up in all my ningsang feels during this part lol) was sang sang. and guess what?? IT WORKED NING QUE WAS READY TO FIGHT LONG QING AND MURDER HIM FOR THREATENING SANG SANG AGAIN 
also when ning que finally comes back from the wilderness, he was sooooo eager to finally be home again, soooooo eager to finally see sang sang again because he doesn’t eat or sleep well when he’s away from her LIKE WOW WHAT A DORK HOW DO YOU NOT REALIZE YOU’RE IN LOVE YET. AND THAT MOMENT WHEN NING QUE REALIZES THAT SANG SANG RAN AWAY?? YOU KNOW WHAT HIS THOUGHT WAS?? THAT IF HE COULDN’T FIND SANG SANG AND BRING HER BACK, THEN WHAT WAS THE POINT OF LIVING??? HE LITERALLY CANNOT LIVE WITH OUT HER BECAUSE SHE’S HIS LIFE AHAHAHAH MY HEART!!!!!!!!
as for sang sang, in the drama we have a moment where she explicitly says that she wouldn’t know what to do if ning que died when she was taking care of him when he got really sick from reading all those books in the academy. also in the book, the main reason why sang sang decides to become wei guang ming’s disciple is because she realizes that if she were to practice the divine light of haotian or whatever, she could then protect ning que in the same way he’s been protecting her all their lives. i think her thoughts were something along the lines of being able to kill people as well lmaooo we all stan such a ruthless power couple I LOVE IT.
and then there’s the part where fu zi confines ning que to the back of the mountain for very important cultivating reasons or whatever (lmao sorry i really don’t remember specifics because highkey my brain only remembers parts of the novel to do with ningsang) because ning que joined the devil. sang sang didn’t have to stay with ning que, but girl was not about to let her boyfriend/fiance/life-partner/honestly at this point who knows anymore all we know is that they’re gonna be together forever, go through this hardship alone so she goes back there with him as well. 
AND LET’S TALK ABOUT HOW SANG SANG DOESN’T EVEN BLINK AT THE FACT THAT NING QUE JOINED THE DEVIL??? SHE DOESN’T CARE BECAUSE NO MATTER WHAT HE’S STILL THE NING QUE SHE KNOWS AND LOVE AND HE WOULD NEVER HURT HER??? OH MY GOD MY FEELS I LOVE THEM SOSOSOSO MUCH. and by this point in the novel, soooooo many people have been suspecting that ning que is the son of yama but sang sang doesn’t care!! she’ll stick by him no matter what!!
OKAY FINALLY LASTLY when it’s revealed that actually sang sang is the child of hades, daughter of yama, whatever other way this gets translated as, ning que fights the whole world for her, pretty much almost literally. and now where the novel is translated up to, the two of them are still on the run and doing their best to survive while literally almost everyone (with very few exceptions) are out to kill them because ning que refuses to give sang sang up. WOW CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY INVENTED TRUE LOVE???
EDIT: I FORGOT THAT THE BOOK AND DRAMA HAS STATED AND SHOWN THAT SANG SANG IS NING QUE’S LIFE OBJECT LIKE WHAT MORE PROOF IS THERE THAT THEY’RE RIDE OR DIE MORE THAN THAT HAHAHAHA

something based on friends ?? a tiny thing where we get 3 characters each and they can be heavily based on the friends character or just a little bit ? then we can have like relationships between them . friendships ? old flings ? siblings ? different dynamics for each of them and threads with more than one at the same time. they always go to the same coffee shop together or they are always in each others apartment. a has a thing for b but b is oblivious and b has always been bffs with c and so on. honestly it can be so much fun and so pure ? pls i deserve nice things
oKay but like wizards in a wizarding school ? ? i would say hogwarts but that world is a mess right now so we could make our own lil world? where like we decide the subjects and the kind of magic and all that. it could have aspects from any magical world we want like idk hogwarts house or like different types of magics ( physical, natural, Illusion, healing, psychic ) from the tv show the magicians. and honestly whatever else we want ? we can throw our lil characters into it and populate this little world with tiny plots like ‘our houses are eternal rivals and i intend to crush you at this quidditch game but also pls go to the winter formal with me bc you are the prettiest person in school ?’ & ‘my family has been historically amazing at physical magic but i’m really bad at this. you seem amazing pls teach me so people will stop making fun of me’ & ‘i didn’t know magic existed and now i do and this is all new to me how is the frog talking and why are you not scared at any of this ? ? ‘ && ‘whhy do you think it’s cute to be the skater punk version of magical world and fly standing up in your broom ? you could seriously get hurt ? and see there you got hurt. what do you mean ?  help you with healer magic ? no i don’t want you to get expelled but we should call a teacher !’ and honestly whatever else you can think of 
okay but like a group of high school friends and their older selves ?? ?  ?? ??  like we could set all the high school threads in the 80s ?? ? ? ?? ? and have different personalities ? and then we also have threads like in 2018 years later when they see each other again in the high school reunion ? just ? pls? the high school sweethearts who signed the divorce papers three years ago and we are doing both the thread in which they fell in love and the one where they see each other again for the first time after the divorce. the high school rebel who became the local sheriff and the girl he loved who used to be the biggest nerd who had a thing over their last summer. we are doing both their wild adventures and them seeing each other again for the first time bc she moved back with her parents. the two best friends who remained best friends for all those years and they are seeing all of those people again and it’s just like ‘oh man glad this didn’t Help to us’ and we can have them as teens bickering and making fun of their teacher and them years later at the bar like ‘i miss having adventures like we used to’ there are so many possibilities ? for like people who grew disillusioned with their lives ? or people who got really successful . ? people who stopped talking altogether ? people who remained friends forever ?? ? plspls it could be so nice
Okay but a group of old immortals/wizards/witches ? something a long the lines of the originals but they are not all siblings or the hogwarts funders but there is no school involved. like they have known each other for centuries and they have been friendly-ish. they probably got a hand in many important world changing events in history and like maybe they have to come together and stop the apocalypse every 500 years or one of them call them all up and it’s like ‘hey guys so skarsgård is going all ruler of the world again and i can’t stop him alone bc he is more powerful than me so could you pls? help me?‘ ? ? ? ? there are so many possibilities. we could play with different types of characters like ( one wizard who spent the last 100 years in a hole on the ground and he is just done with humanity while there is another one traveling around and trying to write a beautiful book about humans and life but it lowkey sounds like a fake deep tweet ) or like hundred years old relationships where they go ‘making me jealous in 1954 didn’t work why do you think it’s gonna work now?’ or smth like ‘baby we have been together for 3 centuries and you still make me blush’ OR OR  we could get more into plot like half of them go ‘i’m done with saving humans every hundred years. maybe skarsgård is right and we Should rule the world’ while the other half goes ‘what ? no humans are amazing? our job is to save them ’ and just those super mega powerful wizards fighting each other ? pls we could go in whatever direction you want just pls let me play incredibly powerful wizards
the PTA group ?? i love playing older characters but also like there are so many possibilities and it could be legit funny and full fluff and angst like ? we have those two married characters who are a perfect couple but maybe they are not that perfect ? the single parent who is just really Trying but is always late ? the divorced couple who is only participating bc the other is and they wanna show how much Better of a parent they are ? the teacher who loves to do all of this and is honestly worried about everyone drama ? the teacher who Had to sign up for this bc it was given to them as a punishment after they didn’t something and they are just standing there like ‘why are all of you so extra? just go home. you know this is optional now?’ everyone getting involved in each other’s business ?? ? everyone being lowkey friends ?? ? dR a Ma also all the supportive parents going to the kids games and the kids just being super happy
a greek god mumus ??  maybe we pick two ships and develop them like ( idk hera & zeus and hades & persophone ) or we just pick around the characters we wanna play. and we can have like all of them stuck in the real world, stuck in a human body. zeus wanting to fly to be an eagle to go somewhere but being stuck to earth. being the biggest asshole in the face of this earth but also not being able to let hera go? ? not knowing how to function properly when she is not around. and maybe idk maybe in this life hera doesn’t stick around. maybe in this life the only reason why they are still legally together is because he didn’t sign divorce papers, maybe she is done with him and done with trying when he clearly doesn’t give a fuck. maybe in this life she is a wedding planner and when people ask her to plan their marriages she gives them advice on knowing when to be forgiving and when to stick up for yourself. hades is the leader of a biker gang but he is mostly really quiet and chill and he has three pit bulls who just hang around him and do nothing of true harm ?? and the only person you can actually be terrified of is his wife ? ? bc even tho logic dictates otherwise it seems like she sets fire on the concrete she walks through and makes plants grow when she passes by and it baffles every existing human ?? and hades being ‘listen man i would forgive your betrayal but my wife i mean, she kinda asked me for your head and i can’t say no….’ chris evans a poseydon, poseydon as a surfer dude ??  as a guy who works/owns an aquarium and understands the animal there in a way that doesn’t make sense to anyone else ?? who has the biggest pools for the animals to swim around, even if it makes looking at them harder for whoever is vising, bc all those animals have been raised in captivate and they wouldn’t survive in the ocean but he doesn’t want them to feel stuck ? he wouldn’t know what he would if he couldn’t swim around  in the ocean and he just wants them to feel free even if he can’t free them. ?? there are so many ways in which things can go ? i mean honestly i’ll shower in headcanons pls gimme.
this is the last one i promise but a plot with a bunch of criminals maybe ex-navy/army who work together. maybe based on the losers ?? where you got like the leader of the group who makes dubious decisions when there are woman involved and the stoic explosions specialist who knows the leader so well that the moment the leader flinchs he goes like ‘imma take over now. okay? okay.’ maybe you got the gun slinging asshole who makes inappropriate jokes and the person who is just Too Qualified to be around this sea of idiots. maybe they were all framed for the same crime and they have to live in the shadows hiding in a city in the middle of nowhere pretending they are normal civilians. maybe they were all trying to save someone and it backfired and they wanna go back to their lives but how  ? ? idk there are so many possibilities just pls.

muse a is hopeless romantic that may or may not be more in love with the idea of love itself than he has ever be with anyone. he quits relationships as soon as they get a tiny bit complicated but he is always talking about ~~~~ soulmates ~~~~. muse b the girl who is way too generous and helps everyone out of the kindness of her heart but expects way too much from everyone. she is always falling in love with people and breaking her own heart by thinking they care more about her than they really do. — now close your eyes and imagine. .. . there is so much potential for angst and fluff ?? ? like he prepares overly dramatic moment in front of everyone and like serenades her ? paints her as his muse and puts it up in galareis ? but also one fight and he talks about breaking up bc that is not true love ? while she is there just interested in the tiny things ? in the days at home with him alone and the way they make each other laugh ? she is such a simple girl and they make each other so happy and he just Can’t see it ? ? ? pls 
muse a is the overly responsible single father/mother had to take care of themselves and his son/daughter ever since they can remember. they Cannot Relax because they must do 110% percent at all times for his kid. muse b is the mother/father of three who laughs way too easily and embarrasses his/her kids dancing in public and cracking bad jokes but they are so bad with time and like doing the Simplest things… — now just .. .. just picture. ..  the two of them meet at a school thing and become friends like maybe everyone talks about the two hottest dads in school getting together maybe they are talking shit about Sharon who doesn’t tell her son no and they bond bc ofc they do. .. and it’s totally like pfffftt pfffffffffff we are just friends .. . expect ‘i knew you would forget your kid’s lunch bc i know you so i packed one for your kid too’ and ‘yeah i know you have a kid but i have a babysitter and we are going out bc you are not Allowed to stay inside another Saturday’ and ‘ofc i’ll go with to the game’ and ‘yes we would love to spend the holidays with your family’ and ‘we are just two bros chilling on a hot tub 5 feet apart bc we are not together. the fact that i wanna kiss you doesn’t change anything.’
characters i would love to play in any plot
okay, so here is the thing, i have two characters. they are super wealthy brothers. one is your local asshole i’m too cool for feelings. he is in his 30s and he goes around partying and making bad decisions and he made himself a successful businessman on his own just to spite his family bc they said he couldn’t do it. 99,99% of his decisions are made either based on anger or just so to feel good. the other one is your local golden boy. he is everything his family ever wanted him to be, and he was a child prodigy type who graduated college super young and has never acted like a child. he is his early 20s. 99,99% of his decisions are made based on what he thinks people want him to do and he just wants to please everybody if you would let me play them in literally any plot  ( preferably like some tiny mumu, i have two characters, you have two characters type of thing ) i’ll literally give the sun !! or cookies !! or anything really omg !! they also have a younger sister so maybe you could play her? ? or you could play some character who is dating the younger brother is starts to fall in love with the older and drama~~ or it could be some two character that you would like to play? like any two characters you wanna develop and we figure out a plot? pls? thanks

“I Bought The Ebook or Will Read On Kindle Unlimited” 
I liked this one! Despite one scene/plot point that kinda irked me (will talk about it in the spoiler section). This was a lot of fun to read, even if these books are rather long. 
BUT! While in the last book there were some sections where I felt like things could’ve been cut/shortened, I didn’t feel the same way for this one as often. I’m looking forward to the next one! 
Overly Simplified Summary
Rhagos, the god of death, is super lonely and wants a companion like Aron (the war god). So he goes back in time for the last Anticipation to find his special someone. 
If you like Ruby Dixon’s other work, and want something a tad different, you might like this book!

The one scene I wasn’t 100% behind was Max’s suicide. Do some good in Aos before kicking the bucket? Didn’t like that she killed herself like that. 
This is the only big gripe I have with the book, that’s it, and the scene is so short.

love this ask. I have a few ideas:
1. Make Persephone 119. I mentioned this before, but I think it would make shit a lot less creepy between her and Hades. It would also add to her "looks naive but is actually smart" trait that tries to push through in the story. I also think it would contribute to the whole "Demeter is a strict helicopter parent" thing. She would keep Persephone close to her THAT long in order to protect her (bc of her paranoia, trauma, which I wanna add onto as well). That way, Perse's powers would grow more and her feeling trapped would be a lot more extreme. Not saying she shouldnt feel trapped ar 19, but I just think 119 just lets the emotions boil and build up, enough to make the story have more impact. It would make her friendship with the nymphs she created a lot deeper as well (like, more than 100 years? Immortal besties). It would also help with her friendship with Hermes (imagine, sneaking off to do whatever dumb shit with Hermes over the course of 100 years. Those are some ways to make memories man.)

3. I would also make the story happen over the course of maybe like a year instead of three weeks
4. I would make Hades show a shit ton more remorse regarding emotionally cheating on Minthe
5. I would ALSO make Perse show a lot more remorse on mingling with Hades when he is with Minthe. I think she is mostly left without specific info abt their relationship if I am not mistaken (?) but for example the Tartarus tree-forest scene. Let them have their moment, Hades worrying abt her, her being close to him and feeling safe, and then suddenly she remembers, he's with Minthe. She can feel jealous, awkward and a bit guilty. Hades would look at her with concern and ask what's wrong, she would brush it off, but they both know what it is abt. I think that way, the moment is a lot deeper and significant (also a bit more tender and realistic?). Bc both of them are like "I want u but idk if I want me" and just AAAAHHH I want that tension!!!
6. Also no racist Hera. Have her insult Minthe on her behaviour, not her literal species.
7. I once read an AWESOME fanfic on ao3 abt Ares and Aphrodite in Lore Olympus. Their relationship builds up on them finding comfort and inspiration in each other: Ares is wild, loves anger bc it shows people's desire to live, to survive, fight what they care about and Aphrodite loves that bc she's always been more impulsive, brave and well, passionate. Aphrodite goes after what she wants, she gets angry at the modern standards in Olympus city and wants to change them and make people live freely and happily. Ares finds that extremely hot and appealing. I love how their powers/the things that they stand for are explained and why. If a little of that was shown in Lore Olympus, Ares wouldn't look like a psychopath 💀 and his love for anger would make a more sense. Anger is just us looking out for ourselves, us protecting ourselves. I think Ares could portray that and be a very interesting character.

8. Persephone feeling a bit more guilty abt her act of wrath. Maybe when people find out and when she found out abt Minthe snitching to Zeus (which yah was done with bad intentions and imo that's one of the three things I condemn Minthe for.), Perse would feel guilty. Like "oh shit I put my mom in danger bc I couldnt control myself". She still had the right to feel angry at Minthe imo, bc she literally did it out of spite and jealousy. But at the same time, it's Perse's act of wrath, not someone else's, and even if she didnt do it on purpose, it's still her and her mom that havw to pay for it ajd I would have liked seeing her feel guilty abt putting her mom jn that situation, but also killing innocent mortals
9. ALSO I wanted to see more of how Psyche adapts to Olympus and living among magical beings. @blog-jei6x made a great point abt her not holding Perse guilty abt committing genocide towards her kind. Not saying that Psyche didnt ask the good question of "Why is Zeus punishing Perse when he praised others to do the same thing she did?", but it's just a bit... weird since she is human. And humans get treated like shit
10 and my final one cause sheeesh: I want to see Minthe get therapy, just like Perse did. Maybe Chiron moves to the mortal realm after the trial and helps Minthe out. Bc Perse aint the only one with issues that need to be discussed. Minthe clearly has trauma too (attachment issues, committment issues, insecurities, believing she is a horrible person and having an overall shit image abt herself and believing she cannot be better. The last point is shown when she blames Hades for giving her another chance, stating that he should have known she cannot be better. This just shows her own opinion abt herself :/)

I have a question/ prompt for everyone. If you could change LO how would you. And i don’t mean if you could change the art style but more the storyline. Like you could create an entire new ship and make them the new focus. Like Persephone and Hermes. They could be the new stars of the show. Or you could even have already established couples be main characters like Hera and Zeus. Really the possibilities are endless.
