this is why i love this passage sm omg. like i doubt it will garner sympathy from most readers, but it is still so visceral and effective imo. like he has jaime’s eyes. yet those eyes are full of fear. his behavior is such a twisted concoction of those systems u mentioned, especially violent & chauvinistic masculinity. he overcompensated so hard. his fake father was a terrible idol he wanted to emulate, an example of violent masculinity. his real father is absent, emotionally unavailable, and indifferent. his grandfather is the cold and ruthless patriarch that uses him as a pawn. ntm cersei’s complicated relationship with the constructs of gender and how that contributed to his rearing. and under all that the boy’s only thirteen. horrible terrible irredeemable boy but still a boy. the worst product that these constructs can create. the wheel of patriarchy go brrr
