Sigh…
… I wish they’d let Horobi ask Izu about herself rather than Aruto. Esp given what he went through, it makes me really uncomfortable to feel like he’s being used to perpetuate the narrative that her only purpose is to benefit Aruto. Noa and Sunagawa have some very good chemistry, the intensity of their scenes where she was Azu were amazing (and had me riveted way more than anything she said to Aruto), and even though I know the actual lines will make me very uncomfortable/salty, the air of this scene is very parental/big brother. I wish I knew they were talking about her feelings rather than how she can help Aruto feel better.
I mean, what I’d love to see would have required the finale to be much less… Poorly handled and had everyone involved own their part of that incident, and then this conversation could be about how she’s feeling confused about what she’s been told to believe w/ what she’s seen and what she now understands she did wrong in the warehouse and how she hurt him, but thought she was doing the Right Thing and how Aruto is being Weird and Obsessive and she’s not sure what to do. And Horobi suggesting that she try discussing the situation w/ Aruto rather than passively accepting his will, voice her concerns and maybe opening up about how he’s still not sure who he is and how he feels. And then it eventually cumulates in them apologising to each other w/ her telling him she didn’t mean to cause him distress, she was just trying to do what she had been told was right, and he assures her that none of it was personal, he was just in a really terrible place at the time.
Izu goes to find Aruto not to ‘save him from the demons so he’ll smile’ or something to but bc she thinks this is the right thing to do and she wants to talk to him about the future and how things may need to change. She can absolutely be nailing him w/ this not being how you make things better, but I feel like it should be more ‘snap out of it’ in general rather than any ‘snap out of it you’re so wonderful.’ I’m not explaining this last part well. But her being like ‘I’ve learned neither of us really know what’s absolutely right, but I’m pretty sure it’s not this.’ Not ‘Izu goes to Aruto bc she’s his darling angel’ but ‘Izu goes to help Aruto stop going berserk bc that’s something we can certify and a Not Good situation, and then wanting to work from there.’
