It has always been for ease of plot! I ADORE Daniel with my life and I have personal fics I've written that involve him being the best thing to ever exist. it just so happens that the fics I end up posting have him as the villain.

There is also the one about glitter with little max and little Lando reconciling through an ungodly amount of sparkles for the incident in Austria. So I can confirm there is at least one posted where he is a saint and NOT the bad guy.

If I ever write a fic where there is a very clear villain or someone you are meant to hate through the fictional piece, it doesn't mean I hate that driver. I certainly have my own tastes and preferences but I don't personally LOATHE any of them.

Ok, first one, I cast Charles Leclerc as Harry Styles. It's actually hard to choose someone who fits, but I do think Harry would do a great job on the silly faces, winks and angelic presence. Honorable Mention: Ben Rosenfield would be good as well.

Next one: Dominic Sherwood as Max Verstappen. I think they have the same energy, and Dom would do a great job. Honorable Mention: Dacre Montgomery. Younger, more popular, maybe can be a good choice too.

You all will probably hate me right now, but Hero Fiennes-Tiffin as George Russell. The british vibe could work, also the face of the good guy and that little smirk, idk. But to be fair, I would prefer cast George Mackay, besides him being older then the necessary.

Let's get back to the good ones, and that one I'm really proud about: Pilou Asbaek as Valtteri Bottas. You can't tell me I'm wrong. I don't even get a second option. It's Pilou and he'll do a great job doing our favorite Porridge Man.

Next is Andy Samberg as Daniel Ricciardo. I can't think in a better option. Has to be Andy!!! Funny, cool, big smile. Just like Daniel.

Lewis is a hard one to get. He's full of personality and I couldn't think at someone who is like him. BUT I choose Ukweli Roach as Lewis Hamilton. I know... Honorable Mention to Michael B. Jordan, because even Lewis mentioned about it. But I do think there's something on Ukweli's eyes, that would just... fit in the role.

Lando it's another one hard, just because everyone is so addicted to that Lando-Tom H thing, that's actually hard to think about anyone else. So yeah... Tom Holland as Lando Norris. But, Honorable Mention to Thomas Doherty OR Gregg Sulkin with you want to change things a little.

Pierre is also a hard one, LMAO. I tried french actors, went to americans, british, and came back to french, to choose Maxence Danet Fauvel as Pierre Gasly. Actors don't need to be the exactly copy of their roles. I think Maxence has the class and the sigh of Pierre. Idk, maybe a little french air that both share, in my head.

K-Mag was probably the easier one after Lando. I choose Charlie Hunnam as Kevin Magnussen. They kinda look alike, I like Charlie, I think it works well.

Last but not least, our pretty prince Schumacher. THAT was easy and hard at the same time. Let's say blonde and blue eyes it's a pretty easy combination to find, but then I activated my - must be perfect - button, which It didn't work so well. I ended up with Rudy Pankow as Mick Schumacher. Idk If it works, but maybe... Also Honorable Mention for Michael Provost who almost got the role.

Oh, for sure. Why are they so focused on something Lando and friends are doing outside of F1, in his own personal free time, when there are F1 events like livery reveals going on right now, some of which don't have a single woman visibly involved? Why aren't they bringing more attention to the young women currently being signed to drive for teams in the F1 Academy? With a platform as big as hers, why not try to reach out to women engineers or mechanics working in F1 and do interviews about how they got where they are, any struggles or obstacles they've faced for women who may want to follow in their footsteps? There's just so many more useful things to do than get offended over a single picture and make weird accusations about drivers not having any women friends and such.

being honest, as a massive lando fan I find myself getting defensive when people (rightfully) have called him out for certain things. but that's okay i think! if you recognise it, and assess why you're defending this famous white guy instead of the people he has upset, its more of a learning curve for me. sometimes it's okay to be initially wrong in your emotions. you just need to correct it BEFORE you speak on the subject (if you're going to at all). I'm mentioning this in relation to the daniel stuff. its FINE to feel defensive. but if you're putting your famous white guy above the opinions of people affected (minorities) then that's wrong. summary: I wish people would think before they aggressively defend their white man.

[Yeah yeah long rant but I process things and understand the world by writing essays so if it’s too long you don’t need to read it, but for my own sanity I wanted to write and post it.]

So this is my perspective as a person whose culture (non-white, I suppose this is relevant or something. Not Mexican so I guess I don’t get a say for this Landogate but here I am) gets parodied and insulted sometimes: There *are* real issues around cultural appropriation and caricatures that reduce my culture and my experience into jokes, and real harm can come from it. Sometimes, that does involve party costumes. There are instances this is done to intentionally insult and harm, but most of the time, it’s not done with malice. It’s just a bunch of people who are not aware of such issues and having fun. A bunch of ignorant people, dumbasses, if you like.

The thing is, despite what certain places online want to believe, it’s not something that’s discussed extensively everywhere. It’s not exactly something people ‘should know’ right away or even think to research. Heck even (some) people from my own culture find the costumes and stereotypes funny, or just don’t care, or laugh at or laugh along with the people wearing costumes and making fun of the culture. There’s more nuance to this issue than ‘wearing costumes that are based on stereotypes = bad’.

Because otherwise you do get instances where people get offended on your behalf when you don’t think it’s a hill worth dying on. You get people who tell you ‘you’re colonized, you’re brainwashed to be sympathetic to the colonizer / offender / etc., you don’t know what you’re talking about because you’re too detached from your culture because you like ‘Westernized’ things and values, you’re ignorant about your own culture, you have internalized whatever-phobia and self-hate’. Because if my or others from my culture’s independent thought does not line up with the social justice movement du jour we’re part of the problem. My ‘minority’ voice be damned because it doesn’t fit your narrative. Yeah, really love this part /s.

I won’t tell any of you how you should feel or do or whatever, but look, shit’s tiring. Especially if it’s Lando. This is the hill you want to die on?’ And more often than not, it’s in the name of defending someone’s or some group’s perceived honor. I don’t really understand where some of you are coming from. Yeah you’re entitled to your own opinion, but what is it with the ‘you’re with me or against me’ stance? Someone offers a counterpoint, they’re branded an apologist. Someone says they don’t get the outrage, they’re a rabid fangirl who wants to sleep with him (okay pls another thing I really don’t get is why sex is always factored in like some gotcha. Someone talks about sex? Cancelled! Someone you don’t like? They’re not getting enough sex! Cancelled! Someone seemed to have more sex than someone else? At some point, it’s not even about Lando anymore, but like, the actual issues people are yelling about. Really seems like you’re reducing the issues you claim to be defending to like, “I don’t like this guy, he did something that is vaguely problematic. Obviously it was X-ism. Let’s complain about it in his tags, and if the ‘fans’ don’t agree, they’re problematic too." Because, sex I guess.

In some instances, yeah, I get where you are coming from. I really do. But, is this really how you think advocating for social justice and progress is supposed to be? Would you really go yell at your friends and family who do something that can be couched as offensive and correct their behavior, or is jumping in the online cancel bandwagon more fulfilling because it’s like you’re doing something on a larger scale? Look, I’ve been there. There are social issues I care about, that affect me, that I hope to slowly ‘educate’ people around me about, people I care about so they change their ways. Have I snarked and yelled at people (in my real life) about them? Yes. Did it work? No, not really. Not everyone is going to react favorably to hostility. Not everyone is as ‘woke’ as you. Not everyone is doing something to step on your rights or offend you. Being more educated about an issue doesn't make you better, or give you the high ground to yell at other people for every little thing. Oh girl, they’ve moved on from the podium. It’s literally been two weeks of hell, I don’t even tweet much, I’m more of a lurker but Lando’s Twitter fans are strong soldiers 😭

I’m going to try list the reasons he’s been hated on since the race. So it was the podium move (fair enough), death threats during the race (but it’s ok because it’s a joke and they say it in their groupchat all the time) and bottling the race (this is just Sunday). Also for not giving Oscar DRS, the team clearly favouring him over Oscar in terms of strategy (both strategy’s were fairly ass but we live) and just general dislike of him as a person the first week. Also accused of rigging the DOTD vote, like it’s always been a popularity contest lmao. They screenshot his story to fix all the mistakes and didn’t like being called out that it’s not really fair as he’s dyslexic.

This week he got absolutely slandered in a tweet that called him an ugly rat and all the comments just picked apart his appearance. This was a quote tweet of him at the Cannes festival btw and got 2k likes I think? I don’t personally care if you find a driver ugly or not, I definitely find some unattractive but the comments were just very unnecessary and rude. They’re complaining that he was at a panel for women in sport at Cannes. He was invited and spoke well of how to get more girls into karting and how they need to try increase the popularity of it with girls so that we can eventually have a woman F1 driver.

Some very amusing takes about how he shouldn’t speak on it because he’s a misogynist and he mishandled the Horner situation (which we still know nothing about). More accusations of favouritism because he was the one who went to Cannes to meet the sponsors. More death threats on a Cult LH Twitter account who posted ngl messages they received where people wanted to murder him apparently.

Today it’s the rehashing of the ‘I don’t have sympathy for him’ comment. A Lando fan said that Lando’s someone’s son and friend and to remember that (when you’re sending these death threats to someone doing their job) and Lando haters quoted en mass. Then refused to apologise when they were told it was because of death threats he’d been receiving.

(Also, every fan base has bad eggs, I won’t deny it or defend it. I know some LN fans gave it back with shitty insults on other people’s appearance but it’s just ridiculous from people at this point).

I think I’ve forgotten some parts but yea it’s been a long two weeks.

Im going to put it out there because I’m not a crazy person who’s encouraging hate so I feel justified in saying that I don’t see how people were defending that podium nonsense. Regardless of whether Max was offended, it was rude and really did not represent him or the team well at all.

Also, Lando has never said he’s dyslexic to my knowledge. He has mentioned a couple of times things like “how can you read this if you’re dyslexic?” But that doesn’t mean he has dyslexia. If he’s confirmed he has it then I take that back but I really don’t think he’s ever claimed to have dyslexia.

I’ve seen some people saying McLaren favours him like he’s not one of the most popular drivers on the grid that’s like saying Vcarb favours Daniel in content no fucking shit Sherlock.

It’s really sad that people are so…invested in this fun little sport that they’re sending people death threats and just generally being assholes. You can really tell they’ve lost touch with reality. They think that just because they can’t imagine having his life that he’s not a human. Poor guy. The worst part is we all know he uses his own socials and very likely sees the things people say about him. For sure his family does as well. I can’t imagine having to read that stuff about someone I care about.

Every driver has crazy fans and every driver has crazy haters. It’s SO depressing that this is a thing

look, i have given up trying to see logic through like 30% of the asks i get on here. a lot of them are rants that i read but don’t publish (most of the time it’s people just wanting to get something off their chest and my inbox is always open for that), most of them are people sharing their lando love with me which i just love so so much 🥰 and then there’s the portion where it’s either hate aimed at me for being fucking fabulous or hate aimed at a driver i love because people’s brains are rotten and they don’t know how to behave on the internet. but yeah, psa: i do not under any circumstances support ferrari or their driver charles. i don’t and i won’t. ferrari is not my team, they’re my most behated actually so i really couldn’t care less if they and charles dnf for the whole of 2023. i’m a carlos fan, and i will stay a carlos fan despite me still thinking he was quite disrespectful towards lando this weekend (but that’s just on me lmao, they’re still the bestest of friends but i’m gonna allow myself to be offended on lando’s behalf for a day or two more).
