Hottest Song Award (Head Canon for M!Raleigh x MC)
Head Canon For Raleigh and Ashley being nominated for the same award and Ashley winning Shout out to @debramcg1106 and @choiceslife for inspiring Raleigh's song title.
-Hottest Song of the Summer. It is a coveted title and one new comer Ashley Cantrell never thought she stood a chance at obtaining. When the silver envelope arrived via private messenger she couldn't believe it. 'Head In The Clouds' had been nominated! The excitement is short lived when she realizes she is up against Jaylin's 'Anthem' and Raleigh's 'F-ck You Famous.' While Jaylin's song was good, she even enjoyed listening to the catchy tune herself, it couldn't compete against the erotic pulse of Raleigh's...and neither could her own song.
-Raleigh doesn't seem to care that he's been nominated, which makes the fact that he will probably win even more depressing. When he realizes she's one of the artists that he is up against he gets excited. 'There is nothing like your first nomination,' he tells her. 'We need to celebrate.' Ashley tried to protest, she didn't see the point in celebrating something she wasn't going to win, but Raleigh insisted. 'It isn't the win that matters, it's the fact that your wrote something so amazing others connected with it.' He rolls his eyes when she brings up his song. 'It's not my song. It was written by some middle aged guy who probably whacks off in the shower. I'm just the asshole unlucky enough to sing it.' He cups her cheek and their eyes meet. 'You wrote something phenomenal...something that's real. Nothing can take that away...so come on. Let's celebrate. I'll even let you drive.' Maybe it was his reminder that she wrote her own songs. Maybe it was the promise of letting her drive his motorcycle. Whatever it was...Ashley felt better and the idea of celebrating left her giddy.
-Awards ceremonies weren't just about the music or artists, they were also about how said artists were dressed. Red seemed to be the color of the night, but Zadie had insisted on white. The frothy white and gold ensemble turned Ashley into a modern Grecian Goddess that stood out in a sea of scarlet. For Zadie's sake, she crossed her fingers that she would make at least one best dressed list; especially since Jaylin looked fantastic in a red silk designed by Addison Sinclaire and was almost certain to make the lists. She wished Raleigh was with her but their 'real' relationship was still a secret. Avery had offered to escort her but she'd declined, not wanting people to make more of their friendship. For a moment she had considered texting Jaylin to see if the other singer wanted to share a limo but Fiona had forbidden it. So she stood alone, a nervous smile in place.
-Seating had been organized for aesthetics and/or optimal drama possibilities, which was how Ashley ended up sitting between Raleigh and Jaylin. The organizers probably thought it would result in headline news (Pop Star in Tears Over Seating At Show or Rivals Square Off During Awards) but that wouldn't be happening. She loved Raleigh and adored Jaylin. It just sucked the rest of the world couldn't know that.
-There were several performances, including one by Raleigh where he ended it by taking their relationship public. The world would think it was them rekindling things but Ashley knew what a huge step it was for Raleigh. He'd never had a real relationship before and knowing that he wanted one with her sent tingles of excitement throughout her body. Now if she could just get Fiona to see reason where her friendship with Jaylin was concerned, things would be perfect.
-Avery was to present the 'Hottest Song of the Summer' award and when he strode onto the stage with his co-presenter Alyssa Griffin it was all Ashley could do not to puke. Her nerves seemed a bit ridiculous since she was fairly certain Raleigh would win. '...and the winner is...by a landslide...Ashley Cantrell...Head In The Clouds...' Time stood still and it wasn't until Jaylin squealed congratulations and caught her up in a tight hug that it hit her. She had won! Somehow, by some miracle, her sweet song about day dreaming about the boy she loved, had won. 'Omigod, omigod, omigod' were the only words coming out of her mouth as Raleigh physically propelled her towards the stage.
-The award was heavy, much heavier than Ashley expected and she almost dropped it twice during the rambling speech where she thanked Avery for believing in her, Ellis for giving her a chance, Fiona for looking out for her, Micah aka Ozone for being the awesome person that he is, Raleigh for loving her, Jaylin for being her friend instead of her rival (oops, the friendship was public now...oh well...that meant girls night out instead of hiding at one of their apartments watching Webflicks) Wade and Luna for keeping it real, her cat for unconditional snuggles and her parents for always believing in her. She almost included Shane but then remembered the last time he spoke. Their friendship was over and he didn't want her doing him any favors. Those hadn't been his exact words but Ashley had taken the hint. It was fair though, she wanted to share this with him and she couldn't. Her smile wobbled a bit and she felt her eyes sting with tears. Avery hugged her, followed by Alyssa, and she stumbled back to her seat. Raleigh slung an arm around her shoulders and murmured comforting words, while Jaylin silently squeezed her hand. They knew. They understood. They had suffered similar losses that made winning bittersweet.
-After parties were required and Zadie had an outfit for each one. Red sequins. Nude silk. Black leather. Pink satin. They were sultry, meant to imply things while still being classy. None of them made Ashley feel particularly sexy. They were clothes and they meant more to Zadie than to her. Champagne trickling between her breasts while she wore nothing but the Harry Winston diamond choker Raleigh had given her as a surprise was another story. Music cranked up, the partition to the front locked, and a mind blowing orgasm pushed aside the sadness of her best friend not being a part of such a monumental moment in her life.
-The next day, still sticky with champagne, Ashley tried to find the perfect spot to show case her award. She had just moved it to the sixth location when her phone went off. Her heart skipped a beat when she seen a text from Shane. It was one word. “Congratulations.” But it was enough.
