when yuhua first arrives in twisted wonderland, he doesn’t realize he’s lost a few months’ worth of memories— he slowly regains them over the course of the main story, memories of failure and steady mental decline.

it isn’t until a little bit after book 7 that it finally hits him: he committed suicide, and that’s why he ended up in twisted wonderland.

he has a history of suicidal thoughts and abandoned suicide attempts, but just when he thought he was getting better for sure— he tipped back over the edge and, for lack of a better word, gave up on living.

…he doesn’t take this realization very well.

TWISTED WONDERLAND OCS!!

I have more but these are my MAIN ones! Anyways Twisted Wonderland is such a big hyperfixation of mine, literally always on my mind!

Anyways, SEELE!! I did have a really old account dedicated to her from like 2-3 years ago, but that's since been deleted. If anyone recognizes her, hi! Its me the same person i prommy!

This is my most recent drawing of her and its also a redesign!! I didn't have problems with her old design but HHHHHH the new one looks SO much better, I love her so much more now! She doesn't really have a set age though i mainly picture her being 17 when she has long hair and then 19-23 with her short hair! That said I really ship her with almost anyone in TWST!! She's a bit eccentric but tries to hide it when she comes to Twisted Wonderland to try and fit in(it doesn't last very long since after Azul's overblot she learns the importance of loving herself and goes back to being a total weirdo LOL) anyways she tries to fit in since she used to get bullied back at Earth. Also I do imagine her hair to be longer in the first drawing and either design she wears glasses, it was just to show what she looks like with and without glasses! I also imagine her to be a lot more accessorized I just didn't feel like drawing it yet, LOL! Also when I use Seele, its typically just her, none of my other TWST ocs, however my other TWSToc's were all brought together and live in Ramshackle together!

Next is Xanthi!! Their an alien! I really dig ocs that aren't just humans since y'know, Yuu can really come from ANYWHERE!! So seeing other ocs where they step out of that human realm really inspired me, and ofc, I love aliens soooo it was perfect! I actually debated making Seele an alien in her redesign since Seele calls herself an alien all the time LOL Anyways it's Xanthi time, not Seele time! Xanthi is 17(you'll find that most of my Yuu's are 17) and they escaped from area 51 LMAOOOOO. They can glamour themself to look human but obviously, there are limitations! They can't change Their eye color or strange pupils, and their tongue and blood color can't change. They loves mischief and causing chaos, if they aren't the one causing chaos then it finds them. They have a huge fascination with humans and have observed them for a bit, though they still struggle with a LOT of human stuff. Although, they're REALLY good at anything technology related! Anyways, if you're a human, chances are Xanthi will just SIT there and stare at you! I ship them with the Heartslabyul crew! I gotta draw them with Riddle since I just KNOW they'd get on Riddle's nerves. And Ace and Deuce would probably be even more protective after finding out that Xanthi is a clueless alien, although Xanthi would also piss them off too LMAOOOO (Also I'd probably mute their colors a little but oh well LOL)

Next is Maggie!! Much like with Seele I don't have a set age for her(in order to ship her with Leona! She's shipped with the Savanaclaw cast!) So 17-19 is the range I have set for Maggie! Although, she also doesn't change as much as Seele does in that time. Maggie is very laid back and chill, she also very loyal to her friends and looks out for them, and she doesn't hide it, she doesn't feel a need to. If she loves and cares about someone, then she should show it, in order to let that person know that they ARE loved! Platonically at least, Maggie's a mess when it comes to romantic feelings. Anyways Maggie is pretty independent, she doesn't really like relying on others and she can hold herself fine on her own. She's stubborn and refuses to ask for help. She doesn't take her studies very seriously, especially in the beginning since she just figures they'll all get sent home soon, however, she ends up feeling bad when her grades impact the others and starts working hard(Honestly, I can see her making that deal with Azul LMAO) Anyways, she's really protective and loyal to her friends and worries about others easily. She prefers to wear baggy clothes and does NOT follow the school's uniform regulations LOLOL

Next is Quincy!! She's a sweet 17 year old! She loves and cares about her friends deeply and gets attached easily. That said, she's got a mischievous streak to her name! Don't get it twisted, she's still extremely kind, but she ADORES horror and enjoys playing harmless little pranks on her friends. She likes to give her friends a little scare here and there. She doesn't show this side until WAY later into the friendship either and it comes suddenly. Maggie in Particular is creeped out by and worries for Quincy, and Quincy LOVES it! She's aware that she gives off a innocent impression, she's been told it so many times and she uses that to her advantage for a bit, she eventually comes clean with her pranks, she always does. She's a big fan of baking, and eating in general, literally adores going to the Monstro Lounge when she can afford it. I ship her with the Octavinelle cast!! She also always holds her arms up like that(Funnily enough, it's a bit of a habit I have too, and I just realized it fits with her whole bunny scheme too!) She has a bit of a lisp with her buck teeth, that she's grown to accept over the years. I didn't really know what to do for her second drawing my baaaad LOL

Next Is Scarlett!! Scarlett is a sweet and energetic 17 year old as well! She gets along really well with Peony AND Quincy, all three sharing a love for horror! Much like with Seele, Scarlett typically wears glasses and USUALLY has some kind of wound on them LOL! They're really reckless AND clumsy so not a good combo for staying unscathed. I ship her with the Scarabia cast, poor Jamil...Sorry for doing this to you(Seele isn't much better LMAO) Scarlett loves ART!! She loves CREATING!!! It's the ONE thing she can stay focused on(Other then watching horror videos, and even then she STILL gets distracted) You look away from her from 10 seconds and she's missing because she got distracted by something and HAD to go see what it was. That said she REALLY struggles with school work but she tries super hard, especially now that she knows that its not just her grades at risk. Feels bad when she becomes aware she stresses others out and causes them trouble. Can't cook to save her life, she tries(esp in culinary crucible) But hey, her cooking is probably more edible then Lillia's at least, so it's not the worst!

Next is Lorelai!! Oh my sweet Lorelai, my precious baby!! T-T she's an insecure 17 year old who's also very kind. Her dream is to be a lifeless doll, she knows it's a bit morbid, but she thinks dolls are pretty and if she were a doll that'd mean she's pretty too! She's VERY insecure about herself, which causes her to do some pretty harmful things to her body. Lorelai loves sewing and designing outfits, and all of her outfit's were made by her! She's very talented but does not think so, her parents are NOT supportive of her hobbies and want her to get a "real job"(like they ain't wearing clothes, stfu fr fr) Oh! I also ship her with the Pomefiore cast, I was listening to music and thought "I Know You" By Faye Webster fit her relationship with Vil ToT! She loves horror and it definitely doesn't help with her morbid thoughts of what she wants to do to herself. She's also a huge fan a romance but doesn't think she's capable of giving OR receiving love! Rook is a fucking whiplash to her, completely goes against everything she's ever thought(Sorry I love Pomefiore sm)

Next is Renae!! Renae is 18 years old and as the trend has been going, I ship her with Idia. They def game together! Renae was a popular streamer back on Earth(not that she remembers since y'know, memory loss!) She has a bit of a nerdy appearance but they love alt fashion a lot and would wear it when streaming. Since coming to Twisted Wonderland, it's kind of stopped as they don't have enough money to buy alt clothes, they don't see a point with the uniforms, and she cant commission someone since lack of money again. Their glasses are just reading glasses, so they're not on her all the time. She also does NOT know how to tie a tie LOL She's pretty laid back and does not care about a lot of things. Oh Ramshackle is falling apart? That's fine. They haven't eaten in three days? that's okay, more food for the others and more money saved. Much like with Xanthi, she's also tech savvy, not as much as Xanthi though LOL!

Next is Shiro!! She's 17 LOL and I was SOOOOO creative with the name/sar She's inspired off of shiro lolita fashion so I kinda just made her name Shiro LOLOL Anyways! She's a very smart an hardworking individual who loves to learn all about different things, she knows numerous strange facts and could go on long rambles about anything really! She also gets along well with Quincy, Lorelai, and Scarlett(mainly Lorelai though as they share SIMILAR aesthetics and Shiro likes to try to include Lorelai and make Lorelai feel wanted) as Shiro is also a horror fan and knows a lot of interesting facts about death. She's good at keeping a calm and level headed persona, but she's actually such a mess, if you compliment her she will excuse herself and start freaking out. She does not handle stressful situations well, no matter how calm she may look. She's also a bit upset that she's seen as someone to rely on in these situations since now she feels she can't rely on anyone, although she knows its also to be expected with the persona she puts up. Anyways I ship her with the Diasomnia cast!

Next is Raine!! She's 17 and an enigma LMAOOO Her hair works with the magic of my pen fr fr! She's mysterious and prefers to stay that way, never opening up to anyone. She has a strong sense of justice and sticks to her morals, that said when she see's someone in need of help, Raine is likely the first person to rush in and help them! I ship her with Rollo, Neige, Chenya, and Najma(I personally have always seen Najma as 16 as her official age hasn't been revealed yet) Raine loves flower language and studying herbs. Honestly, probably huge on crystals and other witch stuff! She has a bit of a playful side to her, pulling pranks and carrying on with a bit that she's actually a witch, which she refuses to let up(she's not actually a witch but some of the other Ramshackle residents genuinely don't know what to believe) A lot of people believe shes mature because of the way she holds herself but she is NOT!! She is just a silly THING!!

And finally is Ines!! She's like the only adult adult twst oc I have, with her being 26 years old! That said she feels a little out of place being taken to twisted wonderland and having to go to school, but she also spends a lot of time reminiscing on her school days. She's like a mom for the others(excluding Seele), although she also talks like a grandmother LOL! She used to have a bit of a mischievous streak to her name when she was younger and it still shows to this day, with her piercing and her hair still being platinum blonde at the ends! I ship her with Divus, Sam, and Fellow!(Crowley doesn't get love, I hate him >:3) She doesn't really understand the girls, but she supports them and their weirdness! She looks at them and see's a bit of herself in some of them(Renae and Lorelai mostly) Anyways, she actually has fun at the school, she doesn't dread it cause it's something new like the other do, rather she feels refreshed by the new topics, it'd be boring if she had to do the same lessons all over again!

Oohhh the twisted wonderland older sibling riddle gave me an idea. How would the situation be if the younger sibling grew to be afraid of their sibling and mother.

Like, they wouldn’t show it in front of them, but they’d avoid them as much as they could but at the same time try to follow their rules purely out of fear of gaining negative attention.

Basically like a sibling who wishes to disappear as much as possible by not gaining their attention or ire. How would it be with Riddle Pre- and Post- Overblot? Especially post-overblot where the sibling is like ‘its okay’ but like they still flinch or avoid him out of fear.

But also! This has been giving me SO MUCH BRAINROT! I received this ask while I was finalizing the Aph!Italy!MC with TWST ahaha.

And in this, the reader is 2 years younger (or 1 and a half, up to you) than Riddle. They attend NRC as a first year (they skipped grades, let's say; or they were a special exception). Also, I wrote this with one of my OCs in mind, but it is also pretty inclusive, I hope.

Also, this will be in headcanon form (with little interaction bits), so if you wanted something else, feel free to request again, and I'll change it! And this doesn't have ANY comfort at all; I left it pretty sadly-

🥀 Growing up with a horrible mother like Mrs. Rosehearts (I seriously need to know her actual name; it's gettig tiring typing 'Mrs. Rosehearts' all the time-) is absolutely horrible and traumatizing.

🥀 Like, look what she did to Riddle! Her stupid "diet" on him made him short and probably underweight!

🥀 Anyway!

🥀 In all seriousness, because of your mother's influence, your older brother is practically like your mother.

🥀 And as Riddle's younger sibling, your mother would constantly compare you to Riddle.

🥀 As if, in her eyes, Riddle would always be better than you.

🥀 And if you failed to meet her expectations, let's just say that it gets a bit messy.

🥀 I headcanon that Mrs. Rosehearts can be pretty violent if things really don't go her way; like, a slap or a hit to whoever makes her angry.

🥀 But Mrs. Rosehearts is a doctor, so she would heal you right after.

🥀 It doesn't mean it wouldn't hurt, though.

🥀 Riddle's no better either.

🥀 Like I said, Riddle becomes just like his mother.

🥀 And so he also gets a little physical sometimes.

🥀 Also, Riddle's a huge tattletale.

🥀 His punishments aren't as bad as your mother's.

🥀 Riddle, while growing up, has had this view that you, his younger sibling, are in his shadow.

🥀 Or that, you are something that he and his mother should discipline.

🥀 He doesn't have much feelings of 'love' because he didn't know exactly what it was like.

🥀 Also because he thought that his mother's way of doing things for him was 'love'.

🥀 Tough love, except I really don't think it is love.

🥀 Riddle would be a very stern and strict older brother.

🥀 No matter how old he is, he would always nitpick at every single thing you do, and lecture you if you get even the slightest thing wrong.

🥀 You've always wanted to stand up to him; maybe tell him to go away; or tell him that what he's doing is wrong.

🥀 But you've always been too afraid of the possible punishment and lecture you'd get afterwards.

"That's wrong! You should do it like this! Always! Like! This!!" Riddle shouts at you, each word like poison filtering out of his mouth.

Your mother had left the house to go to work, so it was just you... and your older brother.

Your mother had tasked you to answer this workbook about College-level Mathematics; you were only 5. Riddle was 7.

Riddle had seen you use a method that your tutors, or your mother had taught you. It wasn't in the book either.

One of your mother's rules: "If it wasn't taught, then it's wrong."

You had broken a rule.

So, Riddle took it upon himself to personally teach you the "correct" method to solving.

You felt otherwise. You've done this method before, you've always got the same answer as the one using the "correct" method. In fact, you made this method yourself and feel pretty proud of doing so.

As Riddle lectured you, you thought to yourself, 'Why are you so mean? Why is mother so mean? Do you guys even love me? Will I ever be good enough? Please... stop it... stop shouting... stop hurting me... stop being mean... I don't like it...'

You suddenly felt your nose starting to feel like its burning; its getting 'irritated', you reminded yourself. You also feel like your eyes also feel weird. Your eyesight is getting a bit blurry, so you look down. Suddenly, the floor seems very interesting.

'Oh no... am I crying- no, lacrimating?? No... no, no, no! Not in front of him...'

"Hey!" You jump at the sudden shout.

"When someone is talking to you, stand up straight, and look the person in the eye!! Did mother and I not drill that into you!?" Riddle exclaims.

You take a shaky breath and looks up to Riddle.

Riddle nods in acknowledgement, not approval, it never was approval, and promptly leaves.

Once they are sure that the door is closed, [Name] slowly allows their tears to fall. They move to their bed, and cry into their pillow.

'Why... why... why, just why?! Why is it always like this?!'

A few days after Riddle's 8th Birthday, you've noticed that he would always leave the house during his self-study time.

One day in particular, you heard a couple of noise just outside the window of your room.

Your mother rarely let you open the blinds or curtains of your room, in fear that you might get 'influenced by those lowly un-disciplined children'.

While you would usually never do so, for fear of getting punished, curiosity got the better of you. And you opened the curtain a bit. Not too much that it's noticeable, but enough for you to see.

And man, do you wish you never did.

What you see is Riddle, and two other people; one a purple-haired cat beastman, and the other a normal human with green hair, playing with each other. The boy with green hair were running around with his hands out, as if he were trying to hit someone. Riddle and the cat beastman were running away from him, though.

What game is that? Then again, you've never seen or played a single game in your life. So of course you wouldn't know a thing.

But why does your chest hurt? Why does your heart feel like its being squeezed? Why are your fists clenching themselves? They're going to bunch up the curtain and make it wrinkle...

Why can't you seem to move away from the sight? Why does it feel like something is pulling your mind towards it, but at the same time pulling away?

Why are bad thoughts going on in your head? Why are you tearing up? Why are you crying?

You forcefully let go of the curtain and cover your window immediately.

Your dominant hand moves up and clenches your heart, as you sit down on your bed.

Tears are flowing from your eyes, your nose is starting to get runny, little whimpers and hiccups are coming out of your mouth. No matter how much you try to stop them, no matter how hard you cover your mouth, bite your lip, they still come out...

Over a gazillion thoughts running around your head. But a few that constantly come back and hit really hard are:

'Why?'

'Why him?'

'Why Riddle?'

'He's mean, and just like mother...'

'Why does HE get to play?'

'It's not fair'

'It's not fair'

'IT'S NOT FAIR!'

🥀 It was HORRIBLE!

🥀 You've done EVERYTHING you could do not bring attention to yourself.

🥀 But it's just always been your last name that gets everyone's attention.

🥀 You've always hated your last name.

🥀 You've never wanted to have your last name.

🥀 Because while most would believe that the Dorm Leader would be lenient to you, being your older sibling and all, he's not.

🥀 In fact, you can go so far to say that he probably does not care about your well-being, unless it affects him or your mother.

🥀 Because Mother Knows Best...

🥀 You've heard of the Tart Stealer, the Magicless Prefect, the Monster Student.

🥀 While you admire them for their bravery (and possibly idiocy), you want nothing to do with them.

🥀 You weren't present when Riddle was challenged for the Dorm Leader position; you heard that he was challenged, though.

🥀 But you purposefully went to miss it, and stayed in the library the whole time.

🥀 When you get back to the dorm, it's a mess and a half.

🥀 And when you reach the place where you know the fight took place, you see an unbelievable sight.

What happened?

The rose bushes are all uprooted from the ground, there's a bunch of leftover paint splattered around.

Most of all, it's... quiet...

Heartslabyul, while a very strict dorm, is pretty noisy and eventful most of the time.

There's a weird static feeling in the air.

As you reach the place where the duel for the Dorm Leader position was held, you hear certain words coming out of someone with Riddle's voice,

"The roses are fine being white... the flamingos are fine being pink..."

No...

"I like putting honey in my tea more than sugar cubes..."

No..

"And... I like milk tea more than lemon tea.."

No.

"I want to chat with everyone while we eat..."

No.

No.

No, you didn't say those before!!

"I wanted to spend more time with Trey, and everyone else..."

No.

No.

No.

No, no, no, no, no!

NO!

You then hear wailing. It must be from Riddle.

You then slowly leave.

You don't want to get attention on you.

Riddle never mentioned you.

He doesn't care about you...

Right?

Post-Overblot!Riddle

🌹 Riddle has tried multiple times to approach you after he's calmed down from his overblot.

🌹 However, no matter how much he tries, you just keep getting away.

🌹 You've always given some excuse, and he doesn't want to get mad at you at all.

🌹 He's done that enough already...

🌹 He truly wants to apologize.

🌹 He realizes that what he has been doing is wrong and wants to make it up to everyone.

🌹 During the "Make-up Unbirthday Party", Riddle notices that you were alone, and wanted to confront you.

As you were silently enjoying your food, you hear footsteps, and look at the direction.

To your despair, it was Riddle.

By instinct and second nature, you immediately straighten up and make sure you weren't doing anything against the rules.

"Ah! Dorm leader... how can I help you?" You ask, heart pounding in your chest, afraid of what his punishment may be for whatever you've done.

When Riddle stiffens and hesitates, you take it the wrong way.

'He must be really angry...'

"W-what rule have I broken, dorm leader?" You meekly ask, cursing yourself for stuttering.

You stiffen and close your eyes, waiting for Riddle to start shouting and screaming, but it never came.

"[Name]..." the way Riddle says your name was as if he were holding a hedgehog that may run away should his voice raise loudly.

You flinch as you see his hand move up, and suddenly start mumbling "I'm so sorry"'s as you stand up and quickly excuse yourself from the party.

Riddle quickly tries to get to you, "Wait!", he calls out. Suddenly, Trey his behind him and places a hand on Riddle's shoulder.

Riddle looks up at Trey and Trey slowly shakes his head at Riddle somberly.

Riddle feels his heart breaking, knowing that his relationship with his precious younger sibling might be impossible to mend back together...

Unbeknownst to him, his dear sibling has retreated back to their dorm room, and are crying into their pillow, as they have always done before.

Hello! Any ideas on what each twst guy's love language might be?

Separating this request into two parts because the full post would've gotten too long.

Riddle Rosehearts

Giving: Quality time

He's the leader of not simply one the seven dorms in Night raven college but it's Heartslabyul; the dorm ran following the severely strict rules set by the Queen of hearts . Do have any idea how much he's got to do? He's got thousand to take care of everyday , so make sure that he's got no time to waste on anything, or anyone.

As he still decides to keep a certain time of day to spend with you; even if it's summarised in small talks or aimple activities like having afternoon tea together while asking you about your day, you should know that it's way more notable than it seems to be. He could've just sent you a bouquet of roses without caring to disturb his daily schedule because of you, and you would be satisfied anyway, yet he still finds you just as important as his daily plans as both a student and a dorm leader.

Let it be him just inviting you for a walk in the flower garden, all that matters is having you around because, he cares to let you know that he's always there for you when you need him and enjoys spending his time beside you; even if can't be for any more than a few minutes.

Receiving: Words of affirmation

Tell him anything he needs to hear. Tell him that he's good enough. Let him know that you believe in him and you think that he's doing good enough. Words effect this boy a lot more than they seem to; a very simple compliment can be either the cause of his overblot or what takes away the pain and tiredness of a busy gloomy day.

Because of being raised under strict rules and extreme critiques on his behaviors, his childhood on its own gives him enough of reasons to be overly protective with the way he's judged through your eyes.

He takes no effort in helping you out no matter what the trouble is; buying groceries, studying for an exam, needing help finishing a task or simple stuff like you needing a hug or a piggy back ride.

After all you know better, under those muscles and and rough skin there's an overly fluffy heart.

Running the mostrolounge and managing the whole Octavinelle at the same time is quite hard; you can clearly see that he's much of an overly busy person. If there's one thing Azul prefers over money and power, that'll be you and only you. You can see the big deal here, he's offering you the worthiest thing he's got: his time.

He may not directly address it but he wants to show that he cares for you just as much as he cares for business, that no matter what great powers he's dealing with everyday; you'd still get to have your special time with him alone.

He's pretty considering toward the conversations you'd get to have at this short time; he may enjoy talking about his experiments in mostrolounge or the latest contracts he's made with the students, but in case that you don't really appreciate talking or hearing about them, he'd quickly switch to a topic which would match your tastes, something that'll make you enjoy you time with him. If he's spending time with him, he's got to make sure that it'll be spent well: He'd be a good listener, an understanding partner and in summary, a great lover.

Phrasing you is also counted as aprt of his daily duties, never to be forgotten. He makes sure to remind you that he loves you everyday, maybe a small kiss or a wink too alongside of it. Give him the opportunity and he'll help you with almost anything; having your meals prepared, helping you get dressed, shopping, etc.

His favorite would be preparing your morning/afternoon tea or coffee depending on your taste. His main point is to impress you, but he'd appreciate it even more if you are the hard to satisfy type, the more challenging, the better. Sometimes he enjoys being humiliated as well because it encourages him to work harder until he hears that awfully rare 'thank you' from his darling.

His darling is probably going to be one of the most interesting people he's ever met; not all people get to catch his attention after all. Not to be dirty, but he genuinely enjoys it when you're close, your warm bodies touching and your breaths meeting. As he tightly squeezes you. The feeling is ...priceless.

It's mainly because it's something one can do only with his closest ones; he means to show that he's way more than just a friend. Normal friends won't tightly squeeze each other from behind, normal friends won't give each other pocky kisses and small bites on neck, normal friends would never touch each other like lovers touch, and that's why he wants there to be a difference.

Overblot Theory (pt1?)

okay okay all my twst darlings, i bring forward a theory. and please bear with me because this is written in the middle of the night-morning & i am thriving on sleep drugs that aren’t doing their job, so there’s likely a million typos and half of it or more might sound like drunk rambling the irony of never being drunk lol.

also i’m tagging now that this contains spoilers i guess? i haven’t finished chapter 5 ( i’m still fairly early in ) yet but i’m literally going to be talking about everything i’ve seen thus far regarding overblot and those effected by it.

aNYWAYS—

so we all know how overblot works right? nasty emotional build up, using too much magic, and then sNAP!

that’s great and dandy, it seems like a build up that gets to a tipping point and suddenly that last drop cracks the glass and everything comes flooding out— right?

but what if overblot isn’t actually that flood point where they turn? what if the overblot is the whole process, not when they are consumed by the negative energies and black magic that force such a violent change on them?

so in every chapter thus far, there is always a few scenes were were see the ink dripping. gradually as we progress through the chapters, we watch as the character begins to spiral and is consumed by negative emotions. each time we see the ink, it splotches more and more, growing and forming a larger puddle each time.

BUT— each case is slightly different from the others, despite having the same trends with each dorm and the inevitable overblot, each character has a different way of reaching that.

so we have the general order everyone overblots for plot purposes, but in my opinion the fact riddle didn’t overblot sooner was fucking astounding. we’re shown how liberally he used his magic and the super strict and toxic mindset he had which was forced on him since childhood. then after each scene we saw of the ink pooling, riddle would gradually become worse in the chapter, until the moment he snapped and became a homicidal maniac.

leona was similar, except instead of him using his magic, he was consumed by his own emotions more and more. it was his hatred from his brother, his family, and his home that started it. then the issue of being second still in nrc to someone like malleus. many reasons to why leona is a lazy ass but i love him still oof but because he kept these things contained, letting it boil and seep into him, it made these things so much worse than they should have been. so ultimately when his plan fails, after trying so hard and becoming so desperate, there’s a surge and he transforms.

azul goes down a combined path, he uses his magic constantly, even with a buffer like a contract and his crystal, and is consumed by his own self loathing and emotions that send him spiraling. the final straw is the moment when his contracts are stolen and disintegrated by leona. but it was already shown throughout chapter 3 that azul has a moment of breaking, despite his composure, was spiraling the moment yuu started poking around. and being outsmarted did nothing for his barely existing pride to begin with.

jamil, out of all of them, but far hurt me the most because all of his sly tactics and underhanded tricks were really because he was trying to fight so he could be himself. fully heartedly believe if grim and yuu never showed up, he would have never overblotted. granted what jamil does is a big dick move but his entire life he’s been repressed and he has no freedom to himself what so ever— essentially he was forced to be an adult since he was a child and lemme tell you that ain’t fun. the one thing i consider a key part here is not the fact his emotions got the better of him in the end, but the fact he used his unique magic on the entire fucking scarabia dorm.

as for vil, granted i don’t know much, but pride and especially vanity will no doubt play a lot into his overblot all because of his rival neige. he’s already a very strict and disciplined character who holds himself very high and strives for nothing less than perfection... so we all know how that ends.

each one of them showed similar tendencies. all of them have some sort of inferiority complex, repressed emotions, and magic is always involved in small or excessive quantities. what i think is going on is not that suddenly they are overwhelmed— no, the overblot starts before anyone notices. that’s what the ink represents.

let’s assume that everyone, no matter what, always has blot, regardless if their magic crystals are ‘clean’ and ‘clear’. after all, the crystals are supposed to be an extra barrier between the user and magical backlash, but emotions have to play a part in this too. so while the crystals protect from magic blot, emotional is different... they just kind of soak that disgusting ink right up and channels all their magic right through it and the crystals only soak up so much of it.

so everyone has some blot? great. but what’s the point of this? i’ll tell you! it’s that each person handles it differently. our boys here all swallow their complaints, the crap they deal with, disagree with, or have been served, and try to shove it into some deep, dark, forgotten pit to never see again. except it doesn’t work, because the more they use magic the more it warps those feelings, feeding off of it. it uses emotions as a sort of super charge for the magic, which creates more negative magic and amplifies the emotions.

so the overblot had already started by the time yuu and grim show up, just some of the boys had decent wraps of it all and didn’t have a nosy human ruining their fucking plans.

okay, kidding, i don’t believe that yuu and grim play a super major part, as eventually the overblots would happen with our without them. either way, i don’t think there would have been a way to stop it without knowing and solving the problem before the transformed and needing anyone in the near vicinity with ability to beat the shit out of the monster controlled student & knock some sense back into them.

i think that by the time yuu shows up, it’s already too late. that first moment we see the ink drip and gather? that’s the start and there’s no stopping it. why? because that was the overblot, the end of filling up and the beginning of tipping without a way to reverse it.

instead of having their emotions all tucked away, the magic has morphed into something nasty, too strong, and they might not even know it. at this point, it’s less about them actually accumulating blot and more that every negative emotion and burst of magic they let out begins to accelerate the build up attracting every little bit of negativity and magic whether or not they actually feel or do anything. the transformation is not the overblot finally happening, it’s the completion, when all that black magic, blot, and emotions burst free from its cage and utter consumes the host.

now i’m not going into the theory i have about the overblot forms and the shadows, because that’s an entirely different topic for me about possession and the great 7, but what i’m trying to say here is—

the overblot is the whole process, not just the transformation and monstrous shadow lurking behind the newest asshole victim.

the ink forming, the unstable spiral each character falls into, and finally the explosion that transforms them. it’s the magic and emotions that muddled together taking on an intent of its own, a will of nothing but chaos and destruction, taints their magic crystals, and uses the host as a means of executing it by clouding their minds and giving them the power they always wanted and needed.

after all, when you’re drunk on power and fed by trauma, are you really going to listen to reason or do what you want because you finally have the ability to do so? of course you’re going to listen to the little voice that says to destroy and take it all for yourself!
