do you ever think abt like. how it takes you twice as much work to arrive at half as much personhood and by the time you've managed to scrape yrself together that far the ppl you were trying to join in with have moved on

Budget for love
Characters: Male reader, Yuu!reader, Ruggie Bucchi, Grim
CW: Skipping meals, existential dread, money problems
Word count: 2,032
Notes: I heard a voice one night, urging me to write a Ruggie fic...that voice was mine. I just like Ruggie.
---------------------------------------‐-------------------------
Ruggie Bucchi's financial status is, by no means, a secret.
Ever since he enrolled at Night Raven College, he's garnered a reputation for being a money-grubbing cheapskate who can reduce any merchant to their knees through his skill at haggling alone, all due to his lack of financial security.
Growing up in the slums will do that to a guy, he supposes.
Along with that, growing up poor has also instilled in him a certain pettiness and resentment in regards to the more privileged classes, which just so happen to make up a very large portion of NRC's student body.
Joy.
Well, if nothing else, this makes it easy to simply view most of the other students as potential pickpocket targets.
However, this also makes it easy to forget that not all of them are more well-off than he is, meaning it's especially jarring when he comes across a certain Prefect and direbeast having an argument in Sam's on-campus store.
"C'mon, Henchman! You're telling me we can't afford ONE little extra can of tuna?" Grim argues while clutching said can of tuna to his chest tightly.
"Yes I am, Grim. With our budget, we can barely even afford the bare essentials for this week. That 'one little extra can' will push us over the edge for sure!" The Prefect argues back with the look of a tired father trying in vain to reason with his stubborn child, "Listen, I get paid for my work at the Mostro Lounge on Friday, right? I know you've still got some of your secret stash left, so if you can hold out until then, I'll get you a can of the fancy tuna as a reward. How's that sound?"
That last statement causes Grim's face to light up as he immediately drops the can of regular tuna and hugs the Prefect while exclaiming, "Deal!"
Ruggie doesn't do anything. He simply watches, mildly dazed at what should have been a fact he already knew as the Prefect finishes paying for his essentials and leaves the store with Grim as Ruggie continues to stand there before being brought back to his senses by another student telling to him to move out of the way.
Ruggie doesn't see the Prefect again for a few days after that, their schedules never seeming to allow them even a passing glance in the halls, but the memory of what he saw that day still lingers in his mind for a reason he can’t quite identify right now.
The next time Ruggie does see the Prefect is in the cafeteria during lunch.
It's one of the rare occasions where he hasn't been ordered by Leona to get his lunch for him, so he's taking his time, scanning the tables for a place to sit when he notices the Prefect sitting across from his feline companion while said companion munches away at his food.
Seeing no other open seats, Ruggie walks over and says, "Long time, no see, Prefect! Mind if I sit here?" He asks despite not waiting for the other man's answer and plopping himself and his tray down in the spot next to him.
"O-oh! Yeah, that's fine." The Prefect responds before turning his head back to Grim as he eats, but Ruggie can't help but notice the lack of food on his side of the table.
"Dang, Prefect! I wish I got here sooner so I could've seen the carnage!" Ruggie remarks while playfully nudging the other man's shoulder.
"Huh? What do you mean?" The Prefect asks confusedly.
"Oh, come on! YOU finishing your food before GRIM? I can only imagine how much you stuffed your face to make that happen!" Ruggie concludes with a snicker before taking a bite of one of his sandwiches.
The Prefect blinks a couple times before responding, "Oh, I think there's been a misunderstanding. I didn't get lunch." He says, causing the hyena to choke on his food.
"W-whaddaya mean you 'didn't get lunch'???" Ruggie questions after chugging his water.
The Prefect shrugs, "Just what I said. We have some leftovers at Ramshackle that I could’ve brought, but we were in such a rush this morning that we couldn't even eat breakfast, much less prepare any lunch and running back between classes would take too long. Therefore, we had no choice but to buy lunch from here, but I had barely enough cash to get food for one of us and it'd kill me to see Grim go hungry, so I figured I'd be fine if I skipped a meal or two." He concludes nonchalantly.
Ruggie proceeds to sit there, dumbfounded, as the Prefect goes back to watching Grim eat, his face content, but with a hint of melancholy.
Ruggie knows that look. He's seen it countless times in his childhood on the faces of some of the adults in his neighborhood as they forwent their own food just to let their children eat.
He doesn't remember seeing a lot of them around last time he went home.
His mind snaps back to the present as he looks down at his lunch tray piled high with the food he bought using money he'd snuck out of Leona's wallet and then back at the empty space in front of the Prefect, his stomach suddenly not feeling as empty as before.
Wordlessly, Ruggie takes two of his sandwiches and slides them over to the other man, who looks back at him in bewilderment.
"Ruggie? What's this for?" The Prefect asks.
Ruggie clears his throat awkwardly before responding, "W-well, it's just that it turns out I got more food than I'll probably eat, so I thought 'why not', right?" He says while forcing his signature laugh.
Luckily, the Prefect doesn't seem to read into his awkwardness as his suppressed hunger resurfaces on his face and he proceeds to practically inhale the sandwiches after giving a rushed "Thanks!"
In a matter of seconds, the sandwiches have completely disappeared, leaving Ruggie both amazed and...oddly fulfilled upon seeing the Prefect’s own satisfaction from having a full stomach.
Huh...that's new.
Ruggie's been so used to pinching his and other people's pennies at this school that helping out seemingly the only other student that's in the same boat as him, even without getting anything in return, feels...nice.
Nice feelings like this are few and far in between with a lifestyle like Ruggie's, so now that he's felt it, he proceeds to chase it whenever he can.
From that day onward, Ruggie makes a point to help out the Prefect if he has the time, starting with offering him a simple snack between classes or pointing him in the right direction if he gets lost, before slowly escalating into him stepping in to haggle Sam's prices down for him and even taking his hand and physically leading him to where he needs to go, not noticing the increasingly flustered looks on the other man's face.
He doesn't know when exactly it happened, but after a while, that simple nice feeling turned into something more...warm and fuzzy that he feels blooming in his chest as he and the Prefect grow closer, finding more and more time to spend with each other, whether it being studying together or going out to the market, until one night, they find themselves gazing up at the stars on the hill just outside of Ramshackle.
Looking over at the stars reflecting in the Prefect’s eyes, Ruggie can't deny how beautiful they look. And what he also can't deny is the fact that he's grown attached their owner.
He can’t help but imagine what the future could hold for the two of them.
But then he remembers who the Prefect is.
He's an otherworlder. The one destined to leave this world behind in favor of the one where he actually belongs.
The only future that exists for Ruggie and the Prefect is one where he waves goodbye as the other man disappears into the Dark Mirror forever.
But that doesn't mean he has to be okay with it. That doesn't mean he can't still want the Prefect to stay, preferably with him.
"Can I ask you something?" Ruggie questions.
"Sure, what is it?" The Prefect responds, looking over at Ruggie, the serene expression on his face only further solidifying his feelings.
"Just out of curiosity, what would you do if you couldn't go back to your world?" Ruggie asks, noting how the other man tenses up at the question.
"W-well, I guess I'd keep going here until I graduate..." The Prefect responds in a way that doesn't fully answer Ruggie's question.
"Ok? And then what about after that?" Ruggie pushes.
".......................To be honest, I try not to think about it." The Prefect finally answers with a sigh, "People always say that graduating from here basically guarantees success in life, but how many high-ranking, high-paying jobs are actually there for someone like me in a world like this, even as a so-called 'beast tamer'? And that's not even accounting for me not having any official documentation since I wasn't born here! Hell, the most Crowley will do is cover up the fact that he has an undocumented individual among his students, so if I can't find a way to become a citizen by graduation, I'm out of luck!" He concludes while bringing his hands to his face in frustration.
Ruggie...can't say he's ever thought about that. And now he's feeling extra bad for the Prefect as he thinks of ways he might be able to help.
And it's then that he remembers a certain law in the Sunset Savanna and his trademark mischievous smile spreads across his face.
"Y'know, if citizenship's a big issue for you, we could always get married!" He blurts out, breaking the other man out of his wallowing as he chokes in surprise before letting out a laugh.
"You shouldn't joke about that!" The Prefect says with a giggle and a playful push against the hyena's shoulder.
"Hey! I'm serious!" Ruggie responds in a very unserious tone, "One of the laws in the Sunset Savanna says that if you marry one of its citizens, then you'll become a full citizen yourself!"
The Prefect's laughter dies down as he ponders this information, "Wait, really? How did THAT come about?" He asks, genuinely interested.
"Well, since it's ruled by lions, the kingdom's basically viewed as one, giant pride so being accepted by one of its members means being accepted into the pride, no questions asked." Ruggie explains.
"I feel like that leaves a lot of room for exploitation, though." The Prefect says thoughtfully.
"Hey, that works out for you, though. Doesn't it?" Ruggie says cheekily, earning another soft push against his shoulder.
"Don't act like this is set in stone already when we haven't even been on a proper date yet!" The other man argues lightheartedly.
"Well, if we're not counting all those study dates and market dates, then I guess you're right." Ruggie says bluntly, "So I'm free this Saturday if you wanna make it official."
The Prefect’s giggles stop as he looks at the hyena in surprise, who looks back at him with the first serious expression he's worn since the start of the conversation.
"I want you to know that I'm actually serious about this." Ruggie says while looking into the Prefect’s eyes, "I wouldn't throw an idea like that around willy-nilly, y'know."
The other man blinks for a couple seconds before his expression softens, "Alright, fine. How about this: IF I can't go home AND we both feel the same way after graduation, then I'll marry you. Deal?" He says while holding out his hand, clearly not fully convinced about Ruggie's conviction.
"Shishishi, deal!" The hyena says before shaking the Prefect’s hand and turning his head back towards the night sky, satisfied.
"Heh. So you're free this Saturday, huh?" The Prefect says before leaning over and pressing a kiss onto Ruggie's cheek, causing his heart rate to accelerate, "I'll look forward to it."
With heat blooming on his face, Ruggie feels that warm feeling in his chest again, but this time, he's able to put a name to it: Love.

привет! How are you? I want to say, your blog is amazing. It has brought me many hours of joy. I am very grateful for your generosity in sharing your writings and arts 💕 they are all very lovely.
For request: For normally, getting undressed by your love is seen erotic. But I think for Fulgrim dressing up his love would be a very special thing that could become intimate. Something relating to this? I hope this makes sense!
Author's Note: Here you go! Something cute but also a bit sensual with Fulgrim. I hope it’s erotic enough!
Relationships:Fulgrim/Fem!Reader
Warnings: None really
The dress digs into your skin as Fulgrim pulls it up your legs and over your hips, pressing against your body in ways your normal clothes do not. It feels unnatural, your usual dresses and skirts don't compare to something of this grandeur; And discomfort.
"Quit complaining," Fulgrim can see the hesitation and irritation on your face before you can even vocalize it. "You look perfect."
He was the one that insisted on getting you ready. His clothing is ornate, a soft purplish pink embellished with gold, white, and black. He was already prepared for tonight, but he had insisted the serfs not dress you.
He probably knows the idea of you getting swarmed by so many of them uncomfortable- to be the center of attention. As well as you think he enjoys making sure every element you wear is exactly how he wants it.
"I feel a bit out of my depth."
Fulgrim chuckles, but it's gentle and not meant to be insulting- merely to laugh at your technically correct statement. He makes sure the bodice of your dress slips over your chest, hugging it exactly right.
"I suppose I understand. But you aren't book keeping and sorting tonight. You're accompanying a primarch; You need to dress the part."
His large hands circle your waist, pushing you up straighter. He pulls the laces on your corset tighter, ignoring the way you wheeze.
"Not that I don't find your frumpy clothes quite endearing, simply that we have a dress code that must be abided by."
He ties the laces at the bottom of your corset, and you turn to look over your shoulder at him. He pinches your chin gently and turns you right back however, and he continues to adjust your dress.
"Frumpy?"
Fulgrim leans forward to kiss your temple. Even kneeling he is about your height- another reminder that he is among the tallest of the Primarchs.
"I mean it lovingly. You in your old nightdress huddled in a corner of the librarium was you are your most beautiful, in my eyes." You quickly purse your lips, getting angry at him. And a bit embarrassed.
"I couldn't sleep knowing that I hadn't finished those letters!"
You had slipped out of bed one night in your nightdress to go finish things in the librarium, leaning by a dim light reading papers. Fulgrim had found you there and nearly dragged you back to bed, but he still hasn't stopped admonishing you about it.
"My love, I truly mean it; It was you in your natural habitat."
The sleeves of your dress get pulled up to just the right spot, and Fulgrim hums dissatisfied when they slide slightly.
Instead however his hand rests on your shoulder, gently brushing against your bare skin.
"There. You're all ready."
Fulgrim leans forward again to press his lips to your pulse just below your ear, humming softly and talking against your skin. His hands wrap around you to your front, adjusting the various little pieces on your dress.
"Behave for me in front of my brothers and I promise you can spend all night in the librarium, if you wish."
Your expression is unimpressed, though Fulgrim's gentle attentions always make you melt.
"You act like me doing your letter writing is a reward."
He runs a trail of kisses down the side of your neck, as you tilt your neck to allow him to do so.
"You're the one who so enjoys doing it; I find all of it pointless."
Fulgrim eventually pulls his lips away, moving to stand and pulling a hand on your shoulderblades.
"It's about time we leave; I'm sure most of my more strict brothers have already arrived." You turn with him, starting to follow. He opens the door of his personal Terran chambers for you, letting you through. "Though just to stand in a corner and act aloof." You look up at him, the odd taste of your lipstick on your waterline.
"Isn't that how you said you noticed me? Aloof in a corner?" Fulgrim laughs.
"But you were cute when you were doing it, my love. Rogal Dorn is not."
Even you can't help but laugh at that one, putting your hand over his own as you continuing walking through the hall.

Hi, how are you? Could you do one of how they would react when we bring a pet with us? With Vittorio, Gabriel and Renato
Sure. I'm going to switch it to the reader bringing a pet home if that's alright. Please enjoy. Also, for the Renato one, the scientific name for iguana is actually iguana iguana.
With a reader who brings up at home: Vittorio, Gabriel, Renato
Renato Lyra
You're barely through the door.
"Hey, is that an iguana?"
"No way!"
"Did you know the scientific name for an iguana is iguana iguana?"
And he'll go off.
The man's like a walking encyclopedia.
Yes, he may be a bit socially awkward.
But he loves animals.
Loves them.
It's a miracle he hasn't brought an animal home himself already.
He'll actually confess that he has tried in the past but was too afraid of your reaction to go through with it.
So he's got a whole collection of pet care items that he's been saving for just such an occasion.
So you won't have to worry about going to find things for your new pet, he's already got them.
Renato isn't great at making friends.
So this animal may be his ticket to learning to talk to people.
For, at least giving him the confidence to.
He'll walk around the survivor campfire with the iguana on his shoulder.
"What? He's a great conversation starter."
And, to be fair, Ronaldo is absolutely correct.
With his new pet, he has gained the confidence to talk to other survivors and make friends.
It's going to end up more of his pet than yours.
Iguanas have a tendency to bond to just a few people.
And it has absolutely bonded to Renato.
More so than you.
But, seeing your boyfriend so happy with his new pet and new friends?
It's worth it.
Vittorio Toscano
A pet?
"You want to... Keep it?"
"Like... In the house?"
Vittorio grew up in a time where pets weren't really a thing.
You had farm animals, that's it.
And they weren't considered pets.
Much less family members.
So it's going to take him time to get used to the concept of having an animal live and sleep with you.
But if this giant dog makes you so happy, who is he to tell you otherwise?
He'll be observing you playing, feeding, and walking your dog.
To him, it's very strange.
But, seeing as it makes you so happy, he wants to know what the hype is about.
So he'll observe you like it's some sort of science experiment.
Don't take it as him being condescending or rude.
He's genuinely trying to figure out what makes owning a pet so appealing.
However, his observations don't really get the same feel as actually playing or just being with a dog.
So, handsome the leash and tell him what to do.
At first, he'll be very rigid and pull the dog a lot.
But, after you show him what to do, he'll start to get the feel of things.
In just a few short weeks he went from confused and bewildered to a loving doting dog dad.
And, just like any pet parrot, he's always talking about his dog.
It's like the same skeptical person that existed just a few weeks prior never existed.
"It's because I didn't know the joys of owning a dog."
Soon, he'll probably know even more than you.
Until completely take over the care of the dog.
Seeing him so carefree and happy is such a rewarding feeling that you can't help but Wonder what he would do if you suggested getting another dog.
Don't be surprised if your house turns into more of a zoo than an actual home in the future.
Gabriel Soma
Another one who had never owned a pet.
Except, for him, it's because he's not exactly a normal human.
He's a clone that was made for a specific job.
Almost like a robot.
You wouldn't give a robot a pet.
So, naturally, he doesn't really understand the concept.
But the moment this little kitten crawls into his lap, he knows.
It's like something inside him suddenly clicks.
"I can't move... The cat is sleeping on me."
And if you suggest moving it?
"That would be rude."
"They look so comfortable, I don't want to ruin that."
And a billion other excuses as to why you shouldn't remove the cat from his lap.
He's also very into training your cat.
He'll find and read countless books about training cats and what you can do with it.
"Well, like humans, animals require mental stimulation."
Gabriel could almost recite the entire book to you.
He's that into it.
Soon, you'll have a cat that can do basic tricks and is target trained.
It's something that keeps the both of them busy.
Gabriel is used to working non-stop, so resting is difficult for him.
This is a great way to use his free time doing something productive.
Occasionally, when Gabriel feels like relaxing, you'll find the two of them snuggled up together on the couch or the bed.
It's so amazing to believe that your ever busy boyfriend could be calmed with just a little cat.

I beat Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
There's gonna be spoilers in this just in case you care, hopefully I tagged it correctly, and also yeah this is a long one (I don't have it tagged game ramblings for nothing)
Anyways, loved this game. My gripes with it are very few, but unfortunately one of said gripes is very major and hasn't changed from Remake; but in the effort to Pretend like my thoughts are organized, I'm gonna section this cause sectioning is fun :)
Actually, one thing I wanted to note here (writing this after like, 3 paragraphs), is something that influences a lot of my love for this game is the fact that it... Doesn't suffer from translation problems like the OG. It brings factors that i never truly appreciated into the forefront, and clears up a lot of confusion. I wanted to put this here because I realized it would be weird to say all of my nonsense without clarifying this.
Gameplay
Rebirth (and Remake) is what I think is What modern FF should be. I absolutely love this style of combat so much. I do wish there was a very small passive ATB charge cause sometimes I get stuck in a situation where I can't do anything, but other than that the rotation of hack and slash then classic menu, and switch between party members is so fun, in the best of times I can make a really cool action scene, everyone showing off their own moves; it's a blast. I'll go a little deeper into the characters when I go to That section, but overall I found everyone really fun in some way, even though end game I ended up using the same party as I did in Remake (and also the OG VII lmfao).
I know to some/possibly most, the amount of open world (and Chadley) and the side quests might feel like a bunch of fluff and garbage, but I actually kinda really enjoyed it? I loved how the world intel all changed slightly as you progressed. Moogles as an example, annoying as they were, did add an extra level of challenge every time you saw them. When you had to catch a chocobo, it was a different style of stealth minigame. Summon crystals all had increasingly complicated patterns. Hell, even the towers were slightly different every time with how you had to climb or even reach them! I think this being the strength solidifies itself when I think of my least favorite intels being the Fiend Intel, because I think they were the most samey the entire game through. The side quests I compare to XVI. XVI's side quests were... like XIV. A LOT of dialogue, run here, more dialogue, fight one enemy or gather 6 items, then go back. Rebirth's quests felt... a little more alive? A little more varied? Sure, side quests are usually going to be the same in these styles of game, but I think of chasing a dog through the region while the dialogue happens along the way, I think of the options to gather more resources than the bare minimum for different rewards and dialogues, picking different flowers, having to pay attention to notes, having to interact with the minigames: it all felt more interesting and like I actually wanted to do them. The varied nature of everything is what made me enjoy it.
Oh and Queen's Blood? Greatest FF card game don't even @ me I had so much fun with it it better stay
Characters
One of my favorite parts of Rebirth is how much it helped or made me love the cast. Even characters that I did not care about or possibly actively disliked, this game made me enjoy. Main characters were all expanded on, side characters were silly, and brought back into relevance when I would never expect (Like holy shit I swear every named NPC from Remake came back which is so cool), and they all make the journey an absolute joy to take, and the world as colorful as FFVII SHOULD be. But let me talk about a cast that went from "yeah I like them" to possibly one of my favorite parties in the entire franchise.
Cloud
I honestly already considered him my favorite character in VII (which is a very hard thing to admit without the fear of people thinking you like him for the wrong reasons), and Rebirth being essentially half the game lets me get to see why again. A man who presents himself as serious and uncaring, but OOPS he actually does care and is really silly but unfortunately has some major mental problems! (please help him he is NOT ok). Sure, they kinda speed up his realization of certain aspects, and maybe they go a Little too hard on the fact that Something Isn't Right, but I really enjoyed seeing his declining mental state, its effect on the world, and his relationships with the party. The Sephiroth juice is intense at this point in the story, and I am very excited to see him in the next game. His gameplay is classic yet fun, with big swordy slashes and huge hits that don't have to be slow (they're sometimes slow).
Barret
My favorite part of Barret in Rebirth compared to Remake is how he didn't wear his sunglasses for most of the game. He's open, he's feeling, he's emotional; he's the big tough softy I love. This is where him and Cloud's relationship really gets to shine, where you can tell there is respect, trust, and concern between both of them. The Gold Saucer and side quests are where I think this is at its strongest, and I love seeing it. His gameplay makes him a really fun support, and just like Remake I had him as a sort of paladin healy tanky type, staying behind with GUN as he takes care of the party, which is really fun and consistent.
Tifa
This game does wonders for Tifa enjoyers (it's me I'm Tifa enjoyers), giving her a lot of focus and emphasis on that caring, observant nature that is her strongest suit. Her concern for Cloud and friendship with Aerith feel very strong here and it makes me happy to see. Her gameplay had her in my party the entire time no other reason, her fast attacks, dodges, ATB filling, and stagger damage multiplier being extremely huge in every single fight.
Aerith
The big one. Honestly, I'm gonna keep my real big story thoughts for later, but I will say I loved seeing her enjoy life, the open world, and helping others in the side quests. She's a great character to see happy :) Also, her scene in the Gold Saucer is probably now one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. It was so fucking stunning that I cannot get enough of it. Unfortunately, her gameplay is easily my least favorite out of the group, as her slow attacks and dodging (yes I know she has an ability to boost her attacks but that takes a while to get to) makes her kind of a slog in my hands, and better off in the computer's.
Red XIII
One of two characters that I did not expect to grow to love as much as I did. I'll prob mention this again later, but... I didn't REALLY know the extent of his change when I played the original. Yeah, I knew he was young for his race, but he always felt like just that wise grumpy dog man (some of this could be on me not reading well enough but between poor translation and Advent Children and the fact he didn't make it into DFFOO I'm gonna give myself a break). Rebirth showed me how much of a joy Red is. Despite the trauma and pain he went through, he's silly, he's excited for life, he has fun and loves his family. But also, despite this and his youth, he doesn't COMPLETELY lose his knowledge and wise nature after his reveal; he just relaxes more. I care about Red so much more than I originally did now because this change was made clearer. His gameplay is also really fun, fast attacks, strong defenses, and even stronger abilities (stardust ray my beloved).
Yuffie
We already got a good amount of Yuffie in Intergrade, so having her again here felt like anyone else from last game. However, I do absolutely love how she was integrated into the main plot instead of just being Girl in Forest. She served as great comic relief (and literally says this!) for her appearance in the story (although I do think there were a couple occasions where it was a bit much but that's ok her arc is next game), and I really enjoyed that she started to become a cared for member of the group (really shown by Cloud in the Skywheel date and her and Barret's relationship). Gameplay was just as fun as Intergrade, the throwing/ninjutsu swapping being a joy, and I loved using her doppelganger attack in combination with elemental weaknesses and Sonic Boom. Yuffie was key for some of the harder fights, the MVP fr fr.
Cait Sith
The other of two characters I did not expect to enjoy, and Cait Sith here is the absolute king of it, as I DID NOT like him in the OG. But here? He's a larger character, he's more sympathetic, he's a little more understandable, and his gameplay doesn't suck shit lmfao. His betrayal I think was done a lot cleaner this time around, where he really Felt like part of the group, and his return was done pretty smoothly but honestly doing anything other than being like "hi hello I'm back!" while Cloud beats the shit out of Aerith is an improvement I really enjoyed his melee/ranged nature being similar to Cloud, and his heavy hitting attacks. Despite the fact that he still had RNG, it was RNG that felt good no matter what and I appreciated that.
Cid and Vincent
Our poor poor "you're not allowed yet" boys. No gameplay section here cause they ain't got any! But that's ok, because for what little role they had, I really enjoyed their presence. Early Cid was very interesting to me, and while i do feel like he loses a little not being introduced as a complete dickwad, I still love having Cid around and giving him a little more connection to the party. He didn't seem as aggressive and %#*^-y, but I kinda hope we get more of that in part 3 when Rocket Town happens. Vincent, similar to Yuffie, gets tied into the story in such a great way. Getting to fight him was super super cool, and I loved that small amount of comic relief he gives by being Overly edgy yet out of touch with the world. I'm very excited to see where both of them go.
Zack
It took me some time to... Accept what Remake did to the timeline. Once I did, I was all in on the train for more Zack. I love Zack! He's my other favorite VII character other than Cloud! This game gave me more Zack, and I appreciate it for that. Not to mention his whole interactions with Aerith and Cloud made me very happy and filled a void in my heart I needed (that fucking synergy attack between the two of them???? DUUUUUDE) Unfortunately however; he didn't get to... get the story treatment I would have liked. Gameplay wise; I don't care much for his charge mechanic, sadly.
Sephiroth
I don't have much to say here. Sephiroth is Sephiroth. He appears, says "pee your pants cloud", then fucks off, and he's really good at that, and that's what he's supposed to be. My grudges against him aren't against him and more against who's writing him. Playing him was hype though, and I enjoyed his counter mechanic which I feel got later reincarnated into Red.
As for people other than in the playable cast, Dio was incredibly fun, Elena felt like a treat and a more threatening than the original but still showing that silly nature (pink gun???? no tactical advantage whatsoever I love it), Hojo is still the scum of the earth as he should be (he never gets better!), I got to actually understand what Bugenhagen is, and so on and so on. Nobody was worse than their original appearance and I loved that.

Story
So. This is the big part. If I had to choose where my biggest gripe with the game would be, it would be in the aspect of story. This is the Exact Same Gripe I had with Remake, that being the aspect of whispers, alternate timelines, and whatever Sephiroth is cooking. This being.... I don't really like it? I don't think it adds anything?? It's confusing, intentionally vague, and it really ruins the flow that these games have otherwise. Cause aside from this singular (big) aspect? Dude! This game fucks! It takes every story beat that was in the original, and expands on it in a way that i feel makes me love the story and world way more! I feel like a lot of aspects got tied together a lot more smoothly (although again, I also attribute this to not terrible translation), and every experience that I expected from the original was a joy to watch in this game. The swamp, Junon, the boat, Costa del Sol, the Gold Saucer, Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim, the Temple of the Ancients. These were all done so well. All of the side content and side stories were really fun, added a lot of character to the world. And with the slight changes they did make, like with Cait Sith's arc being changed to be more sympathetic instead of blackmailing and Cloud being controlled by Sephiroth NOT beating Aerith I think were actually done really tastefully and improved the experience (actually thinking about it Dyne's just felt like they wanted to hurt Barret more why would they do that). I just... I wish if they were going to do this whole alternate timeline dealy, they were a little more clear on it? i wish I could feel like it actually mattered to this series, but what i get is "oh wow the unknown journey" that turns into "yeah here are these extra bits that are confusing and don't change anything and actually instead ruin the impact of one of the most well known scenes in video game history)
With that I will talk about the ending. I was willing to ignore the fact that we didn't get to walk through the City of the Ancients more. I was still shaking and nervous until the very end, thinking "oh man what's going to happen???? oh fuck!!!" and what i was instead rewarded with was a constant whiplash of emotions and confusion that left me numb to what should have torn my heart out. I shouldn't have to be left wondering if a character truly died or not for the sake of "OHHH MAN TIMELINESSSSS WORLDS???" that didn't DO anything when I could have gotten either a successful changing of timeline, or a 4K edition of something to tear my heart out, and hearing the absolute pain in Cloud's voice in his speech afterwards. I am Really Hoping that part 3 will clear this up, and retroactively improve an ending and story beats that I think single-handedly knock this game down from a 10/10. I shouldn't have faith in them, cause they've beefed two endings in a row, but I do, because they've shown that everything else they can create are honestly perfect.
Graphics
shortest section in the world this game is beautiful the landscapes are beautiful the characters are beautiful (or ugly when they needed to be and it still worked) my eyes were given a treat this entire 80 hours

Unorganized Ramblings/Finale
I really did have a lot of fun with this game. I didn't feel soured until the end for the most part, even during some frustrating game segments (fuck you Rufus and Odin and then Odin again and also that last Fort Condor). I really appreciate getting to see the wider world of FFVII in a modern sense, and I think overall I appreciate what I didn't previously a lot more. I also loved how with the addition of a card game and Gilgamesh, it got to match up with VIII and IX, the other 2 PS1 FFs to really feel like a unified FF vision. This game kept the silliness that the original had on top of its incredibly dark setting for something that I love to describe as the same vibe as Yakuza. I laughed seeing Red get a whole scene instead of a single bit in his person outfit, and then cried at a newfound caring for Cloud, Tifa, and Barret seeing Jessie's poster in the Gold Saucer. The vibes were immaculate and I'm really really excited to see what they do for the final part (which is going to be called Reunion I'm betting my left materia on it)
9/10. The peak of modern FF gameplay that enhances a classic, but fails its mission of being different.
