public displays of affection - aaron hotchner x reader
the aaron take on the derek/penelope workplace seminar (episode of reference: 9x12)
cw; bau!reader, established relationship, suggestiveness, small allusions to sex, fluff <3, bau family banter, aaron being mortified😭, references to the episode wc; 1.4k
"penny," you shut one of your files, placing it in your desktop organizer. "you're creating a draft."
"this is bad. oh so very very bad." she stammered, continuing to pace back and forth, "i'm just mentally preparing myself to be humiliated in front of the entire unit. for the second time, may i add. god, who blabbed this time?
"what did you even do?" spencer chimed in, his head lifting from his current read.
"i don't know." she exclaimed, an exasperated breath leaving her. "nothing out of the ordinary, so that means anything is possible. you," she pointed at morgan, who casually was making his way over to the rest of you. "we're in big trouble."
"this could be totally unrelated." jj reassured her. you agreed, giving penelope a nod and a hopeful smile. "there was no footnote on what this meeting consisted of."
"well, there was no footnote last time. and to this day, i still get asked what flarpy blunderguff means." she huffed, crossing her arms and turning towards derek. "i love you my hunk of a man, but this. this is a nightmare."
as two began rolling around, the bullpen filled in anticipation for the seminar, a light hum in the room as conversations were exchanged back and forth in waiting.
in addition, a presence soon stilled beside you. one always familiar, but surprising under the current circumstances.
"what are you doing here?" you looked up to find aaron's gentle eyes. he took a seat on the edge of your desk, just behind your chair.
meetings like these - usually below aaron's pay grade. he hadn't needed to attend the last, infamous meeting for instance, HR meetings were normally things he had prior knowledge of, or simply not worth his valuable time as unit chief.
"i got the email as well." aaron's hand found the back of your neck, his fingers comfortably kneading into your always-tense muscles. every so often, his hand would brush to your shoulder, and then back again.
"oh no," penelope slapped onto derek's arm, the smack covered up by slim buzz within the vicinity. "what did we do?"
"looks like we're about to find out." dave stated, his eyes following the woman who had just entered the bullpen, moving to the front.
the notorious HR lady of the bureau, nancy, sauntered over to the large presentation screen set before the clusters of desks. not wasting a second to get down to business, she turned toward the crowd of eager agents.
"thank you all for your attendance and time, this shouldn't take too long." she started, poised and head held high.
penelope took a deep breath.
"this afternoon's presentation," nancy clicked a button on her remote, displaying the title page. "public displays of affection."
oh no.
aaron's hand, which had continued to smooth out the stiffness in your neck, halted immediately.
"as you all- most are well and should be aware, keeping conduct professional in the workplace is a must to prevent disruptions within the environment. displays of affection - examples upcoming - can cause extreme feelings of uncomfortableness amongst your colleagues, and can be distracting nonetheless. all of which, creates a...."
just as last time, she clicked her remote. and adjacent to penelope and derek's presentation, in big letters across the top:
"hostile work environment."
derek immediately snorted under his breath, inviting others to openly laugh as well. despite the urge to shoot daggers at him, you were utterly incapable of pulling your attention away from the front.
it wasn't a top secret ordeal - everyone could infer the pair this presentation was centered around, and be correct.
"and so," nancy exhaled a breath, her eyes darting in your and aaron's shared direction for a smidge second, causing the heat to grow in your face and body. "i urge everyone to refrain from the following,"
similar to yours, aaron's face burned, comparable in color to his tie. he let out a nearly inaudible, nervous cough from above you.
"sitting on one's lap, while working on caseloads - not appropriate."
more laughter rippled through the division.
"oh god." you mumbled under your breath, uncomfortably crossing a leg over the other as your palm covered the bottom half of your face.
contrary to the present belief, aaron was a stickler on pda.
for the first few months of your relationship, he hadn't dared to touch your arm, back, anything in order to maintain such affection within the field; it was reserved for closed doors at home only. he loved you, but he wanted to uphold his reputable professional nature.
but as time moved forward and your relationship progressed, he hadn't gotten sloppy, per se, but more relaxed or lenient was a better way to put it.
some displays were accidental by habit. if he wanted to give you a quick peck, depending on the situation and setting, he would. seated beside each other, he would lovingly squeeze your thigh under the table, if you needed the encouragement or if you made him proud in some regard. if he were feeling frisky one day - sure he would do something, just to rile you up for later, to each of your benefit. so on and so forth.
and if he was initiating affection, you took that as the all-clear to do the same. in variation, of course.
so more often than not, it was in private. just not... always. and the lock on aaron's office door often came in handy for that.
"prolonged kisses in the bullpen, elevator, not appropriate."
once. you were caught once in a (very) heated kiss in the elevator.
as you and aaron cowered in embarrassment, both dave and morgan looked far too amused for their own good. the rest of the team - raised, entertained eyebrows, tossing glances to one another while trying to constrain their laughter.
nancy swallowed, as if she needed strength to deliver the next point, "grabbing one's behind when going up the stairs, not appropriate."
another mortified cough exited aaron.
she went on, giving more examples of affection aaron and you were completely guilty of. and if just one singular time wasn't enough, she went-forth on the explanation that such displays can cause a barrier within the workplace.
when you thought it would never cease, nancy finally delivered her ending statement, "save it for home people, thank you."
and with that, as well as the screen darkening, everyone disbanded, low murmurs and chuckles filling the room as each went about their usual routine.
you looked up at aaron in absolute horror, whose face was currently in his hand. but even that didn't hide the blush brewing within his face, his ears flushed wildly as well.
you reached up, grabbing his wrist to pry his hand away.
"nuh uh uh," derek grinned as he wiggled his index finger at the two of you, imitating nancy to a tee. "not appropriate."
"you hush." you got to your feet, allowing you to remove his hand more easily. you cautiously prolonged your hold, brushing your thumb across his knuckles before letting it drop. "aaron?"
his brown eyes found yours, full of embarrassment. "that was..."
"humiliating?"
he nodded, his head accelerating in speed with each nod, "yeah. that's the term i would use."
"oh you poor dears." penelope breathed out, the one compassionate member of the team.
"damn." emily chuckled.
derek cackled again, clearly not ready to let this go. honestly, he probably never would. "thought we didn't notice when you pulled the blinds in the office, did ya?"
aaron gave him a pointed glare, putting a very quick end to the conversation. just as the rest, the team carried on with their remaining work for the day - you and aaron remaining frozen in place.
but surprisingly enough, a laugh did escape him, shaking through his chest. "guess i have to tone it down a little, huh?"
"oh thank god," you blurted out and exhaled in relief, a small smile forming on your lips. "i thought this would cause an avoidance arrangement or something." you teased - partially.
"of course not. some reservation, maybe, but not avoidance." aaron laughed quietly again, a sigh escaping him.
"that was bad, wasn't it?" a slightly pinched expression took form on your face, your cheeks tinting once more.
"it wasn't... good." aaron admitted with some hesitation, but his brown eyes still glowed despite the lines of troublesome. his hand found yours - after scanning that no one was paying attention to the two of you - giving it a squeeze. "but hey, out of problems to have, i'd take showing my love for you any day."

It's done! Attempt number two at book making is complete! It's still just Ethan's Wayhaven Book 1 run. I did a big overhaul of the typeset compared to the first one, which I was trying to make small to minimize the page count. This came out about 130 pages longer and the text seems to breathe much better now. I also added a couple of basic graphics, a moon in the chapter headings and little moons as section headings. I used variegated red embroidery thread for sewing the signatures for just a pop of ominous color between the pages. It is a game about vampires after all.
Working with paper instead of cloth for the cover was a mixed bag. It looks gorgeous in a way I couldn't do with cloth but it was harder to get just right and I'm not sure it will hold up the best long term. But as a second attempt, that's ok. I tried new things and learned new things this one which was the goal and overall I think it's a more attractive finished product, or at least more visually interesting.
The breakdown on mistakes is under the cut. It's mostly for my benefit so I can remember later but please learn from my learning if you would like!
First off here's a comparison of my first and second attempts.
The paper I used for the first wasn't exactly 8.5x11 as noted before and I think it was even narrower than I realized before I tried to trim the pages. It is a significantly shorter book! Also the typeset differences. I'm really happy with how the new one came out.
Mistakes and improvement for the future.
Paper, Paper, Paper - I didn't even attempt to use interesting paper for this, just regular printer paper. Not needing to worry about trimming was so nice. I bought 9x12 sketch paper thinking it would fit in my printer, it did not, and I wasn't going to trim every single page to size so I have that now in my crafting pile. Maybe I'll make some blank journals with it. I do like the slightly off white color and heavier weight of the paper I used the first time and if I put in a fancy paper order I'll take that into consideration.
Paper: Part 2 - I want the scrapbook paper I have to be heavier and the cardstock to be lighter. Once I put glue on the paper it was so hard to work with because it wanted to wrinkle but also felt like it might tear if I tried to smooth it too much or reposition it. I ended up backing the piece on the front cover with a piece of printer paper and that seemed to help.
Mull - I've been using cheesecloth. I didn't starch it last time so I tried that this time but also saw something about putting glue over the whole piece of mull first then attaching it instead of holding it over the spine and dabbing/brushing glue on top. Bad choice. The mull is a mess and it isn't flat on spine, it was weird and stiff and there's slight gaps in between signatures as a result. I couldn't rip it off though so it is what it is. Won't be doing that again in the future though. Minus the mull issue I was really happy with the textblock though.
Endpapers - Again fighting the thinner craft paper. I should have sewn these on but I didn't. However I couldn't add them later because of the mull issue once I realized that so they are fully glued to the first page for added strength instead of being tipped on. Making them then and sewing them on takes more time but might be the better route to go in the future.
Gluing - I feeling like have terrible gluing technique. Things feel too wet but then if I use less or add some water for easier brushing on it doesn't stick as well. I think this is just a practice thing but considering how much gluing there is, it is a little frustrating.
Labels - Tried that for the first time with paper. Not sure how I feel about it . I think it looks alright but mostly it was about the paper quality and durability. Story of this build.
The Casing In - It was not great.
The back is alright but I really messed up the front cover. I think I pushed it too far back into the hinge so the cover doesn't quite close all of the way and is why there's such a large fore edge wrap space. I also think I made my spine piece slightly too narrow so that didn't help either. Ah well. Warping could also be from needing to glue the extra backing paper to the cover paper first and it's just too much glue pull in one area with nothing to balance it.
She's done though and once again I'm carrying over lots good knowledge for the next one. If I saw it sitting on someone else's shelf and they told me they made it I would be super impressed so I should give myself that credit as well.
#life at nerdy holler#nerdy makes a book#bookbinding#the wayhaven chronicles#I might actually try to sit and read this one

i’m so mad that we didn’t get more of carl and debbie. like, they should be best friends, right?? i mean, they’re irish twins and considering that, they expierenced a lot of trauma together. i feel like that should’ve brought them together. every single scene of the two of them is so amazing, like them in 9x12, for example. one of the best parts about season 9 was them imo. i feel like their personalities work well together, too, and i love how debbie is (or at least was in the early seasons) a bossy big sister to him. like i always think about what happened before season 1, and i feel like they were/are very close.
i started headcanons about them but i never posted it but now that i’m thinking about them i will
@sugar-spice-everything-vice thoughts??
#theyre 13 months apart how are they not best friends#theyre one of my favorite duos#one of my fav intros is the one where theyre in the front yard and carl starts making a dirty joke and he disgusts debbie#shameless#debbie gallagher#carl gallagher#debbie and carl#also carl is such a good uncle to franny

Redbubble sent me a tote for free recently so I can see the quality, and it's pretty good, although I have mixed feelings about the art being blown up (tote is 13x13) bigger than actual size (original is 9x12, which means the art was resized up by like 40% bc margins) since you can reeeeeaallly see all the imperfections in the actual art lol.
All the spotchy brown ink is there in the original! The tote replicates it perfectly! On the bright side, if you get the tote a lil dirty, no one will notice lol.
The tote has a lined black interior, which is a nice step up and will probably have the tote last longer since it won't be directly damaged by whatever you're putting in it.
I think I'll probably give this one away via my extremely neglected newsletter/email list, or you can get this on RB directly since it's Big Sale Season over there.
I am once again not running any sales in my personal store because tbh I don't really want to encourage waiting for this hectic season to buy stuff. If you want stuff, you can get it yearround and it will all be the same. ✌️
Push/Pull is having 15% off ONLINE today through Wednesday though. If you're local to Seattle, can you stop by their store in Ballard for secret deals. They still have the framed original of this painting available, btw. Go get 15% off that, maybe.
PS. Ceasefire now. Call your reps, etc.

hello folks!!! it is time for doctor who series 9 rankings!!!
1. Heaven Sent (9x11) - peak. fucking. doctor who. one of my (and many other's) favourite episodes of ALL TIME and for a REASON!!!! it's so clever and well written and well acted and it's visually GORGEOUS like!!! peter capaldi is so good and i firmly believe he's the only actor who could've pulled this off, basically a 50 minute monologue come on man!!! i wish i could watch it for the first time again it's brilliant
2. Face the Raven (9x10) - SO GOOD!!! i love rigsy and i'm so glad he came back haha. clara's death is actually so heartbreaking and SJSJSJ the conversation between her and the doctor omg THE WAY SHE USES HER LAST MOMENTS TO MAKE SURE HE WON'T SEEK REVENGE OR ANYTHING OMG i love that!!! and it's also like visually so so so beautiful like visuals are a big part of how much i enjoy an episode as you might have noticed if you've seen my rankings before, like honestly i don't care too much about if the cgi is good or not etc. but them colours and lights and stuff need to be right!!!!!
3. Under the Lake/Before the Flood (9x3/9x4) - this is, again, SO good, i LOVE timey wimeyness doctor who should do WAY MORE timey wimeyness like you're a time travel show, USE IT!!!! i like the side characters and the beginning of before the flood with 12 explaining bootstrap paradox to the audience is so great and THE FADE FROM 12'S GUITAR TO THE THEME!!! it makes me so happy
4. Hell Bent (9x12) - is it a perfect episode? no. but i think it gets SO MUCH undeserved hate. i love love love clara in this, and the scene where her or the doctor have to forget everything is so good imo. i'm really interested in gallifrey and i haven't seen much of classic who yet so i take every scene in new who very gratefully and with great interest. i THINK people criticise the episode for having 12 suddenly be so ready to kill and stuff, and in any other episode i'd agree, but after heaven sent and the way his and clara's relationship is so codependent and toxic, it makes complete sense in my opinion. i loved when the doctor and me met at the end of the universe it was interesting imo, and i LOVEEEE that clara and me's TARDIS is the same one 11, river and the ponds were in series 6!!! and i like the way first you think clara has forgotten stuff but then you find out it's 12 who did (idk if it was obvious to everyone else but me, you can fool me so so so easily it's not even funny i believe almost anything the plot wants me to believe. which probably greatly affects the fact that i can enjoy doctor who so easily.) yeah i really really enjoy this episode
5. Last Christmas (9x0) - honestly why don't people talk about this episode more?? like it's SO interesting and just a bit scary, i love love love the idea of dreams inside dreams, like i don't really have complaints about this episode tbh it's really great and has a fascinating concept
6. The Husbands of River Song (9x0) - this is peak comedy i was laughing half of the duration of the episode probably, i love river obviously, and i liked her and 12 together. gotta love nardole as well lmao. i don't have much to say except SLAY socialist 12 and this is so funny like 80% of the run time, which is how a christmas special should be
7. The Girl Who Died (9x5) - i like this one!! 12 acting like he's a norse god and then the guy appearing in the sky and 12 tries to impress everyone with a yoyo was absolutely hilarious to me, that's peak humour in my mind. me was a bit annoying in this one can't lie like this is my least favourite me appearance, because HOW was she so stupid like girl i know those random guys you live with would've started fighting without a second thought but you're so much cleverer than them come on, but whatever, i forgive her i did care about her in the end. i loved the 12th doctor realising why he chose the face like YASSS GIRL!!!! and them making the video was so funny and random i ADORE 12 and clara in this, and i love the theme of immortality it's very interesting and i love when it's explored in doctor who
8. The Zygon Invasion/The Zygon Inversion (9x7/9x8) - i think it's. good. i love clara controlling the zygon it was sooo interesting and the sort of space she's in felt so weird and interesting i loved it, and obviously the doctor's speech is fantastic and peter capaldi delivers it perfectly. however, i do think it's not that well paced or something, like sometimes it feels really slow and sometimes everything is happening at once, and basically reasons to watch it would be 12's speech and jenna coleman. i did like osgood as well tho and obviously i'm the biggest kate lethbridge-stewart stan i take anything with her even if she's in it for 2 seconds
9. The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar (9x1/9x2) - i LOVE the doctor and davros' interactions and missy and clara are brilliant together. i love missy. the opening is brilliantly funny, i adore 12 SO MUCH, i love that he plays his guitar god knows in what century and teached the people the word "dude" i LOVE that, and how he just appeared in his davros chair and had tea what an icon i'm his biggest fan, i don't care if it makes no sense i'm here for the entertainment and that's what i got. but like i mentioned in the last series ranking... steven moffat does NOT understand the daleks. i respect him a lot as a writer, but he can't for the life of him write the daleks. "Into the Dalek" i can excuse because it's fun enough and the radiation is probably affecting the creature's biology, but this episode acting like the cases or armour or whatever are the ones controlling how the daleks act is just bullshit, the daleks are a genetically engineered race full of hate, not just some random squid aliens inside propaganda cases for god's sake. funny how the daleks of this dalek episode are the worst thing in it
10. The Woman Who Lived (9x6) - i enjoy this episode, i don't think it's bad, but it's not good enough to deserve to be higher on this list. me is an interesting enough character and i like that she doesn't remember everything, it's really fascinating. i also like how she's pretty much morally grey, a bit like the doctor. yeah, it's enjoyable but nothing special imo, and sometimes i just. didn't get the plot, which i understand and can excuse because it focuses on me and the doctor but i dislike the plot and the lion alien
11. Sleep No More (9x9) - it is a bit boring isn't it? i don't actively hate it, and i really appreciate the way it's filmed, i think it's really cool. i LOVE that we're kinda the monsters there and that it's a sort of video, but it doesn't save it from the fact that it's utterly tedious

stuff i still want/need for the house
2 dressers for our room, 1 large and 1 small
1 dresser for e
2 8x10 rugs, 1 9x12 rug
bathroom mats, shower curtain, and towels for main bathroom
bathroom mat for e's bathroom
plant stands and plants
1 or 2 cute desk chairs
lighting for around the projector.. no idea exactly how to shop for this
cat tree!! preferably a really tall one bc oyster still doesn't like xayto. :(
m needs a monitor
lamps/ambient lighting for bedrooms, e's room doesn't have an overhead and i hate overheads anyway.. kind of want to do statement plug-in sconces in our room, i found cool ones on marketplace but who knows if they'll still be available when i can afford them
decor for e's room.. hoping he will take to a mild dragon/fairytale theme. he does like all monsters with big teeth so dragons should be cool but he's not into castles and shit yet. he likes sharks and airplanes
patio set. need this badly bc our kitchen is small and e's high chair takes up so much space in it, we want to get rid of it and do meals together on the patio (no space for inside dining + it's all carpeted nothx). he's growing out of the chair anyway
i think that's it?? i found cheap machine-made rugs that will look alright if i can't find the right ones secondhand (like, a 9x12 for under $120, which is nuts). i think i'll have to do payments on dressers and have them delivered bc i'm not going to ask m to carry any more heavy pieces of furniture up 2 flights of stairs basically by himself. i'm going to do only 1 solid wood dresser and i found one that will look nice for $250, otherwise it'll be those cheapy fabric drawer types. patio set same situation but some of those sets are really lightweight aluminum, which is what i'm hoping to find secondhand
#this is stupid ik but i'm just a b*tch who wants to die when her house is ugly#oh and i would love to have a reading chair in our room.. also some sort of nightstand/side table situation for both sides of the bed#hoping to find like an antique one with drawers then maybe for the other side i found these metal & leather nesting tables for $10#that i think would look cute#oh and blackout curtains for e's room

Blog #1 - Heads
Oh goodness, the start. It seems rather scary, don't it? Well, lets start it together. :D
Heads can be complicated. Some might get too big. Others too small. I'm a digital artist, so I make heavy use of the transform tool, but that doesn't mean I didn't start traditionally. We'll go through both of this one, much like every other one following.
First up, how do we start? Well, anyone whos anyone will tell you to make a circle, but how? Let's grab some paper and start. For circles to be used in heads, many people -myself included- will tell you to pick an area on the page to start. But where? Well, how big's your drawing going to be? Small? Chibi? Realistic? Your in the wrong blog post for that last one.Start with analyzing your page. How big is it? Mine is 9x12 but you can use anything. A corner of some math homework your supposed to be working on. Scrap paper with old work on it. Doesn't matter.
Find the area you want the top to be. Then, circle away. (Video as reference)
Next, we get to add guidelines. This one also has some thinking to do. But we'll start with front facing as its easiest.
For this one, and for my style specifically, I set my guides just slightly off center. See the slight bend? Not many people do it, but I do. Positive, it helps with shaping and plotting certain features. Negative, its really not the greatest start. It's very obviously a light turn and that's not technically front facing.
Now. What do we do from here? Well, make the face, obviously :D
Can't start placing features without the overall shape now can we? I start with the lower face, or, cheeks. I make a little line at the horizontal guide and then bubble it out. I bubble it all the way down to a point, where the chin will be. From there, I guide it up to the other side of the guideline and made a slight bump. I then go back to the start of our chin and shape around our messy circle. For this, I added an ear -which is just a little semi-circle, but you don't have to for now.
And there we go. We have our head. Can slap a face on it if you'd like, but that'll be a different post. Faces can be weird and I typically don't add faces till I'm done anatomy. Since this drawing/doodle will be our reference throughout our journey, faces will -unfortunately- not be till later. One step at a time.
Until then, here are some other references I used to follow till I got used to making my own heads.
(Reference Link: https://drawingref.com/head/)
References on a side note are, and I cannot say this loud enough, NOT BAD. How are we to improve if we can't learn from each other? Tracing? To an extent. If it'll help you learn, go for it. If you try to turn a profit, leave. That's not kind or right of you.
Practice makes perfect. Its okay to have a whole page in your sketch book dedicated to just one thing to practice with. We all have it.
With that being said, till next we meet. Have a fantastic and bubbly day my dear Stars.

I’m on it!” Raj: “Yeah, whatever it takes to keep you busy for a few hours.” Sheldon: “Found one!” Raj: “No you didn’t. There are millions of data points there!” Sheldon: “But, look, an optical transient.” Raj: “Yeah, maybe that is something. How did you do that?” Sheldon: “It wasn’t difficult. You know how when you see prime numbers, they appear red, but when they’re twin primes, they’re pink and smell like gasoline?” Raj: “No.” Sheldon: “Huh! I guess I’m a special boy! Choosing the Perfect 9x12 Rug: Elevate Your Dining Room Decor
When it comes to designing your dining room, few elements make as big an impact as the right rug. A well-chosen 9x12 rug can tie your decor together, add warmth, and create an inviting atmosphere for your family and guests. In this article, we'll explore the art of selecting the perfect 9x12 dining rug while also discussing the benefits of 9x12 rugs clearance deals.
1. Size Matters
Before diving into the world of rug design and patterns, it's essential to get the size right. A 9x12 dining room rug is an excellent choice for many dining spaces, as it provides ample coverage beneath the dining table and chairs. This size ensures that when you pull out the chairs, they remain comfortably on the rug, preventing any awkward half-on, half-off situations.
A common mistake when selecting a dining room rug is choosing one that's too small. In such cases, the rug ends up looking more like a random accent piece than a cohesive part of the dining area. A 9x12 rug, with its generous dimensions, solves this problem beautifully.
2. Define Your Style
Your dining room rug is an opportunity to infuse your personal style into the space. Consider the overall aesthetic you want to achieve. If you're aiming for a classic and elegant look, opt for a 9x12 room rug with traditional patterns like damask or floral designs. These intricate patterns evoke a sense of timeless sophistication and pair well with formal dining room settings.
For a more modern and minimalist vibe, go for a solid-colored rug with clean lines. A monochromatic rug can create a sense of calm and simplicity, allowing your dining table and chairs to take center stage. Alternatively, choose a rug with a simple geometric pattern for a contemporary touch.
3. Colors and Patterns
The color and pattern of your 9x12 rug can significantly impact the ambiance of the space. If your dining room is already bursting with color and patterns, a neutral-toned rug can provide balance. Consider shades of beige, gray, or taupe for a calming effect. These neutral colors act as a canvas, allowing your furniture and decor to shine.
On the other hand, if your dining area is more subdued, a bold and colorful rug can become a captivating focal point. Deep blues, rich reds, or vibrant greens can infuse energy and personality into the room. Look for rugs with patterns that complement your existing decor elements, such as wall art or upholstery fabrics.
4. Consider Maintenance
When choosing a rug for your dining room, it's important to consider the practical aspects, especially ease of maintenance. Dining areas are prone to spills and crumbs, so opt for a rug that's easy to clean. Rugs made of synthetic materials or those with stain-resistant treatments can be a wise choice. These rugs are not only beautiful but also practical, allowing you to enjoy your dining space without worrying about every accidental spill.
Another aspect to consider is the rug's pile height. Low-pile rugs are easier to clean and vacuum, making them ideal for high-traffic areas like dining rooms. High-pile rugs, while luxurious and soft underfoot, may require more maintenance and are better suited for spaces with lower foot traffic.
5. The 9x12 Rugs Clearance
Advantage Now, let's talk about the advantage of shopping for 9x12 dining room rugs during clearance sales. 9x12 area rugs clearance deals offer you the opportunity to find a high-quality rug at a fraction of the original price. Clearance sales often feature discontinued styles or overstocked items, making it the perfect time to snag a beautiful rug at an exceptional value.
During clearance sales, you can explore a wide range of rug designs and styles, including traditional, contemporary, and even vintage-inspired options. Whether you're looking for a rug to complement your existing decor or a unique piece that stands out, clearance sales provide a budget-friendly way to elevate your dining room.
The key advantage of shopping clearance sales is the significant cost savings. Rugs can be substantial investments, but during clearance events, you can acquire a high-quality rug without breaking the bank. This allows you to allocate your budget to other aspects of your dining room decor, such as lighting, furniture, or artwork.
In addition to cost savings, clearance sales often provide an opportunity to discover unique and distinctive rugs that may not be readily available in regular inventory. You might stumble upon a rug with a captivating design or color palette that perfectly complements your dining room vision.

i remembered to buy the sheet protectors i have been meaning to get for the past uhhh *checks calendar* five months, so i can put my page-size posters and larger inclusions into a binder! and i did that last night.
i didn't have as many page-size posters as i thought (just the ready to be & zone digipack posters), so i guess it's just going to hold larger inclusions and sticker sheets that are too big for my 3x5 and 4x6 albums.
so the next thing on my list is the A2? A4? uhhh 9x12 binder for the posters that are too big for a normal 8.5x11 binder but aren't big enough for a poster frame. not that i'm going to go out and buy 25 poster frames, because i'm not (the ones at my work are stupid cheap material and they're still ~$15/each), but i do want something to display them in...
ideally i'll be able to get four poster frames for my loona flip that posters bc i have 3/4 of them so far and if i get that 4th album (haha...ha) i'm gonna make an effort to get them framed and hung up for sure!!!!
and i'm not sure what to do with the odd size inclusions. the ones that are small, like photocard size, but awkwardly just a big larger? i haven't measured them so i'm not sure what size they actually are, and i have a lot of them from other groups so i need an album for them and i need to know what type of pages to buy for that album lol.

ok I mentioned in a post that I was doing art stuff you guys would get to see
it is trans themed, thus very relevant to this blog
I finished it this morning!
after I finished it I realized I had to do it again But Better so it'll be a little bit longer before you can see it
basically I sketched out what I wanted to paint, but it was too big for my canvas but I didn't wanna try drawing it again smaller (proportions, guys 😭) so I said heck it and did it anyway, cutting off a good portion of what I wanted on the canvas. when I finished it I really liked it..... but realized I wanted to do it justice and remake it the way I should've done from the start
I have larger canvas panels I can use, so in the next couple days I am going to take one of those and remake the painting so that I am really happy with it 💜
if you want some insight into how bad I scale things when I draw, the original canvas size I was gonna use is 5x7 and the one I am going to move this painting to, which I think will be the perfect size with a nice amount of white space around the subject, is about 9x12 lmao 🥲

hello love!! if you have time, i was wondering if you could rec your favorite established relationship fics?? i love everything you post!! thank you in advance <33
Oh absolutely!!! 💜 Well this got long and messy! 🤦🏻♀️ But also these tumblr ficlets here, here and here. Oh and this one too.
Alpha Complex by Hatteress (goddammitstacey) | 3.3K | Explicit
"Hold still," Stiles says, hand clamping down on the back of Derek's neck to keep him from turning and it's laughable, really – the thought that that would be enough to hold him. Except it is. Because Stiles' fingers are gripping the nape of Derek's neck, pressure sure and hard and Derek- Derek can't fucking breathe.
Fight Me, Helen by thedevilyousay | 1.6K
Important OTP question: Which one aggressively argues with the suburban soccer moms at the PTA meeting and flips Helen’s 9x12 pan of betty crocker brownies?
A Ring of Truth by exclamation | 1.1K
When John Stilinski got a call about someone acting suspiciously in a jewellery store, he didn't expect to find Derek Hale looking at engagement rings. Despite all the dangers Derek has faced, somehow buying a ring is his most challenging battle.
Ashes, Ashes by ShanaStoryteller | 2.6K
The Sheriff gets a call at work - someone's tried to burn down his home with his son inside.
"I thought of you coming here, and finding me dead, of another burnt out husk of a body, something else fire has stolen from you, of you having nothing left to grasp but ashes," John can't even call that a whimper, it's clearly a whine as Derek's hands tighten against Stile's hips, as if his boy will shudder to dust at the mere mention of the possibility unless Derek's hands can hold him into one piece, "and that thought was worse than dying."
has time re-written every line by kellifer_fic | 14.6K
No, dad. Listen to what I'm saying. Yesterday, I was eighteen. I'm not speaking metaphorically, or about the way I feel or whatever. I was eighteen, we lived in the house on Maple, the last conversation we had was about how fries didn't count as a vegetable and I, uh, wasn't married.
Say Aloe To My Little Friend by SassyStarboard | 9K
Derek takes Stiles to Home Depot so they can get supplies to finish remodeling their kitchen. Stiles gets sidetracked and attempts to coerce his husband into buying an army’s worth of plants.
Glad Tidings by stilinskisparkles | 24.1K | Mature
“Eight people are going to be descending on our home in a mere matter of days, Derek.” Stiles grabs the pizza box, uses it to gesture at the pile of books and papers under the table, away and towards Derek’s sneaker collection. “You want them to think we live like this all the time?”
“We do live like this all the time,” Derek huffs, stretching lazily.
Whisky Kiss by nightfog | 5.5K | Explicit
Stiles had a really really bad day and all he wanted to do was to drown his sorrows in whisky and then...
"This seat taken?" An all too familiar voice asked.
Derek fucking Hale.
Stiles couldn't suppress a groan. As if this day wasn’t fucked up enough already. He rested his head on his arms, that were folded on the counter. Why couldn't life give him a break for once?!
good, giving, and game by verity | 5.3K | Explicit
They've been together long enough now that they don't have arguments over the big stuff anymore: there's a few things they've each accepted as fact. Derek hates Olive Garden. Stiles refuses to let Derek work on the Jeep. Derek doesn't dance. They're never going to get werewolf-married because Stiles is never going to do the thing where Derek locks his werewolf dick in Stiles's ass and jizzes all up his colon while they lie on a bed of rose petals and listen to mood music.
Much Ado About You Two by clotpolesonly | 2.2K
In which Professor Stilinski and Stiles are such different people that nobody makes the connection.
Hales Have People For That by LadyDrace | 4.5K | Mature
Some moron decides to capture the Hale pack. Big mistake. Really big.
ladybugs by thepsychicclam | 20.7K | Explicit
In which Derek and Stiles have been married for ten years, have two kids, and are planning their five year old's birthday party.
Do you want to know a secret (do you promise not to tell) by dearericbittle (dutchmoxie) | 1.5K
This is not how Stiles imagined his six month anniversary - shut up Derek, monthly anniversaries can totally be a thing if he says they are. For one, there was no wolf on his boyfriend’s couch. And then a secret sister? At least it’s a night they’ll never forget.
show me something beautiful by starcanopus | 9K
Isaac is the one who first catches sight of the ring, an entire two months after the captain had joined the 14th precinct. It’s somewhat pathetic, really, considering the fact that an entire floor full of detectives hadn’t noticed right off the bat.
But when he does see it—a thin, silver band so innocuous that it could have just been a trick of the light—he trips headfirst into a recycling bin, earning a dirty glance from his boss through the window of the man’s office and Isaac kind of wants to sink into the ground and never come back out, but he has a duty to fulfill: spreading the news to every floor of the precinct that the captain is married.
Captain Derek Hale is married.
Sleepless in Beacon Hills by yodasyoyo | 2.8K
A moment passes. Then another. Derek allows his mind to wander and his senses to settle, hoping sleep will find him. He focuses on the scent of Stiles’ hair, the rhythm of his breathing, the rise and fall of his chest, the warmth of—
“Did you know that some moths don’t have mouths?” Stiles says, voice sounding loud in the stillness of the room. When Derek doesn’t say anything in response, he clears his throat and continues, “The Luna moth has no mouth. Doesn’t eat a thing.”
Derek ducks his head, presses his forehead against the nape of Stiles neck with a sigh, and cracks one eye open. He can’t complain. Really, he can’t. He knew what this was when they started dating. He went in with his eyes wide open. And even on the rare occasions he does complain, nobody believes he’s serious anyway. Not any more.
Through the Fire (Come What May) by Jerakeen | 1.9K

Home 1.8K Brettsey Continuation fic for 9x12 (Natural Born Firefighter) AO3
“-ger dropped a few things by for you before you got here. Said you’d want them back? What happened?”
Matt freezes as he walks out of the restroom, shifting so he’s not seen. He’s never been one for gossip; actively avoids it, and he’s sure he’s being creepy right now, but he doesn’t want to interrupt by having to walk between the two women. At least, that’s what he’s going to rationalize his actions with. Waiting with bated breath, the Captain hears Sylvie shift and give a sigh.
“We….” a pause, and then- “I never really told him that it was Matt, that I was helping through some personal stuff. I said it was a friend. He found out, said I should figure some things out.”
The world gives an odd tilt. Grainger and Sylvie aren’t together anymore. It hits him then, that this is the second breakup he’s caused for her, and wow does he feel like an asshole.
“You don’t seem too upset.” Stella’s voice is curious, and Matt’s sure she’s giving the blonde a skeptical look, something she’s good at.
“Does it make me a bad person if I say it’s kind of a relief? I felt bad knowing he was way more into me than I was to him. He was a great guy, just not-“
“Casey.”
If Matt was drinking beer, he’s sure he’d be choking right now. Obviously Sylvie was interested in him, she wouldn’t have kissed him back months earlier. But if she’s still interested? Maybe he does have a fighting change. Grainger had been a wrench in his plans to get her back, to make her understand she was the only one he’d been thinking about for months now. He wasn’t going to actively flirt with someone who had a significant other, no matter how much he wanted to.
“...yeah. He’s not Casey.”
“Girl, either you two need to talk again, or we need to find you some strong vodka and send your ass to a club.”
Not waiting to hear an actual response, Matt steps out, hoping he looks like he’s not just been standing there for minutes eavesdropping. Giving them both a smile, the Captain slides past them and towards the bar, deciding it’s time to get his ass into gear. He’s not going to let her slip through his fingers again. He can’t. Firefighting may be his whole life, but Sylvie has made her way into it too, and since he’s already getting to keep one, he might as well fight for the other.
The night wears on. Sylvie doesn’t seem upset about the Grainger situation, and Matt tries very hard not to watch her walk around and talk to their friends. Kidd keeps shooting him looks, though he doesn’t try to read into them, not right now. If it’s really that important she can come tell him. He spends another hour floating through conversations and sipping his second beer, and by the time he’s at the end of it, the firefighter is ready to head back to the loft and sleep, the day's events; no matter how good, wearing on him.
“Hey, I’m going to head out soon, do you want a ride back to your place?”
Sylvie’s sitting with Ritter, Gallo and Mikami, and they all look up when he asks. He notices briefly that Gallo and the new paramedic seem to be sitting close together, but decides it’s not his business- he doesn’t want it to be. Sylvie looks up and smiles, eyes brightening.
“Yeah, that sounds good. Lemme just say goodbye to Stella.” The blonde stands, and Matt watches her go. Violet looks at him and smirks the same way that Kidd always does to him. Why can’t girls leave things alone? Why do they all have to know everything?
“I’ll see you guys next shift,” the Captain offers and then walks back to the front of the bar, clapping Severide on the shoulder and letting him know he’ll see him and Kidd when they get back home. Sylvie appears at his side and soon they’re making their way out and down a few parking places to his truck.
The ride starts off quietly, but, against his better judgement, Matt takes a breath and speaks. “I uhm...I kind of overheard you and Kidd talking, earlier.” Figuring it’s better to be honest, he licks his lips and his eyes dart over to her, noticing her sudden, somewhat stiff posture.
“I didn’t mean to stand and listen like a creep, but I didn’t want to interrupt,” he adds lamely, biting his lip. “ Anyway… .I’m sorry, about you and Grainger. I really am.” He means it. Even though he disliked the man, and thought he should be able to act more professional, Matt liked Sylvie being happy, more.
“Oh.”
“I wanted to let you know. I don’t feel comfortable acting like I didn’t hear you, I don’t want to keep things from you,” he explains, hoping she’ll understand.
“No, I get it. Thank you, Matt, for letting me know.” She turns to look out the window, and Matt frowns. This isn’t going the way he wants it to. She doesn’t sound upset, but he can tell she is. Upset, or at least annoyed.
“I have a few things I wanted t-“
“I think maybe we should wait until we’re parked, for any big conversation.”
She’s right. She’s always right.
Nodding, Matt lets the music take over, and the next seven minutes are spent in somewhat awkward silence. He doesn’t ever want anything to be awkward between them. When they pull up to Sylvie’s apartment complex, she turns to look at him, blue eyes watching.
“Do you want to come up?”
It’s a surprise to hear her ask, after the last time. Eyes snapping up to hers, Matt nods, turning the engine off. “Sure.” Swallowing, the firefighter feels his skin buzzing as he follows her into the elevator. The air feels thick, and he wonders if she feels it too. “Thank you again...for coming with me, and for not taking no for an answer,” he says after a second, doors closing. Sylvie gives him a smile.
“I’m going to be there for you no matter what Matt. And I’m sorry if I’ve made you think otherwise.”
Their eyes linger on each other for a moment more, and then the door is opening again. As they pass the threshold and enter her apartment, the buzzing under his skin intensifies. He’s not sure if he feels uncomfortable or hopeful. Maybe both. His mind flashes back to the words he’d heard earlier. He’s not Casey. Sucking in a breath, Matt suddenly feels every single thing he’s been thinking about the past weeks bubbling to the service, the need to break free overwhelming. He clenched his hand that’s shaking, heart beating fast enough the Captain almost feels like he needs to sit down.
“Sylvie.”
The paramedic looks up, eyes finding his own instantly. Sylvie moves forward an inch, her expression indicating she knows something is happening.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for not communicating properly, that night, the past month. I’ve been trying to work on it all, trying to figure out how to be clear. A few weeks ago you told me I was still in love with Gabby, that my actions had nothing to do with you. But you’re wrong. My actions had everything to do with you.”
Nervously, Matt grabs her hand. She doesn’t pull away, but her expression is unreadable.
“I’m not in love with Gabby. I haven’t been for... god , for a long time. I think maybe even before she left, I just didn’t realize it. I’ll always love her. We’ve been through a lot. But I’m not in love with her. I thought you knew, but I was wrong, and I should have addressed it when you asked me that night. Your question caught me so off guard, one second I was kissing you and feeling on top of the world, and then it was like everything got pulled out from under me.”
Sylvie opens her mouth to speak but Matt, for once, shakes his head.
“I need to get this all out, please .” The last word is desperate as it falls from his mouth. When she nods, eyes wide, he starts again. “You’ve been the only one on my mind for months. You’re the only one I want to be with. Gabby is in the past, and that’s where I want her to stay. Even if she came back tonight, I’d tell her no. She asked me twice, you know? She asked me as she was leaving the first time. She left a voicemail the second. And there was never a doubt in my mind- she’s not it for me anymore. You said you’ve wanted this for a really long time, and so have I. Please know that.”
A swallow, a hard blink, and he gives a tiny, self deprecating smile.
“I’ve probably blown it. I should have fought for you, should have gone after you even when you said you needed space. But I was a coward, and scared if I did, things would be irreparable. I can’t lose you Sylvie, I can’t not have you in my life, not again. If all you want is to be friends, then I’ll suck it up and deal with it. But I need you to understand that I don’t want that. I want you, all of you, only you. ”
When he finishes, Sylvie’s still staring at him, and Matt fidgets in his spot, feeling like he might have just fucked this whole thing up. If he has he’ll never forgive himself. She moves forward, one hand touching his jaw delicately, like the whole moment might shatter if she presses any harder, like it’s a dream they’ll wake up from.
It’s like a movie. She leans forward and their lips meet, both pairs of eyes closing. Matt let’s go of the hand he’s been holding to wrap his arm around her waist. Before they go any farther, she pulls back.
“I wasn’t lying when I said that it’s always been you, Matt Casey. You’ve been there for me more times than I can count. You’ve been there every second, and I don’t want that to change. I don’t want to have to try and push you out of my mind anymore, or try not to look at you while you drink your gross whiskey. I want you too, all of you, only you.”
Matt feels a smile break out on his face, mirroring Sylvie’s, and then he’s twirling her around for the second time that day as she presses herself against him. It feels like the pieces of him that have been knocked loose from him these past months are reconnecting. It feels like coming home.
