Chapter 408 - random thoughts

Ah my i almost never go here, but those last chapters are really merciless ! I just want to write random thoughts, especially after reading @5x-ra​ own analysis (thanks for your post @5x-ra​, really interesting) !!

1. I dont understand why people are saying She Li is a coward for running. He’s not just running away -because if he was, he would have disappeared and would not have waited for He Tian to try and ambush him. He’s just not an idiot ; what’s the point for him to stay around and get his face smashed ? The difference in level in fighting is clear, he doesnt stand a chance against HT. HT was born and trained as a fighter ; isnt HT the one who is cheating, choosing a way to resolve the conflict with his fists, knowing he can only win X) ?

She Li’s shtick is manipulating people, getting under their skin, planning in advance. It was never brute force, and we rarely see him fighting -he uses other people for that. It’s not bad per se, it just means he’s intelligent ; too bad he uses it for nefarious purposes lol. If he was a nice character, I’m sure people would find it clever for him to run away from the fight scene, find a weapon, and ambush HT. But yeah because his role is to be the antagonist and because his main goal is just to make other people miserable, it’s hard to be impressed by this, instead most of the readers wants to see his face smashed and for him to rip the consequences of his actions lol.

2. I think in the scene where Mo smashes his face from behind, SL is livid, not necessarily afraid ! But yeah, the interpretation of him being afraid is also strongly supported by the manwha. But I think She Li must be thinking, “how dare you do that to me ? how dare you oppose me, now of all time ?” Especially, because Mo do the same thing to SL that SL did to the old man who tried to kill Mo. It’s an ironic twist of the same situation.I’m not sure about SL feelings towards Mo, maybe he he loves in his own twisted way, in a really “i own him” way -he even said almost this sentence a few times. So, for She Li, Mo attacking him is like your own dog biting you after you hit him. SL think he has a right to mistreat Mo : he owns Mo, it’s his possession, and so if he beats him to teach him his place, it’s just rough love kind of. But for Mo to react back, it’s a betrayal. And that’s why SL doesnt hesitate : he tries to actually kill Mo, like @5x-ra​ said piercing him in the head ??? wtf. Like an owner hitting his dog too many times, killing it in a fit of rage, because his dog dared to bite back, SL honestly think Mo deserves to die for opposing him. man...

3. Honestly, isnt this story a story about how adults fail the children again and again lol ? There’s no adults around, except HC and Qiu who are like “ok do what you want, just no killing”. I know it’s because the manhwa is destined for a young audience (? maybe), and a young audience identify themselves with the protagonists and so doesnt want annoying parents taking care of them. Even tho, like what the hell haha

4. Altho i do love the last few chapters, am I the only one who is getting kind of annoyed by this “damsel in distress” version of Guan Shan ? We fell in love with MGS because he was a nasty, feisty, dirty ball of fluff. It was the contradictions that was enchanting : he try to fight innocent jyan yi WITH HIS GROUP just because, he throws a rock at ZZX head, he insults everyone and refuse to socialise, he’s mean to the girls who just say hello to him. He insults HT non-stop, often times it’s fair (HT was really cynical at the time), sometimes it’s hypocrite : why cry because HT is mean to him when literally he ambushed JY over nothing ? He’s proud and think he’s better than others because he’s not a hypocrite, but then he have nothing to show off either. And then at the same time he’s oddly loyal, righteous, and honest. It was what attracted HT. And the appeal to their relationship was this pull and push. Mo was as strong as HT in this psychological game.

But since a few chapters, Mo stopped pushing so much. And it’s nice ! It means there’s actually a relationship being constructed between HT and Mo. But then it became really unbalanced. Because HT continues to pull, and Mo just do... nothing. He’s blushing and not looking in the eyes. He does this bc HT wants to, he does that because HT says so... ok he makes a (weak) scene, and thats all. He’s like loosing his character ? He’s becoming more and more passive, he’s a character where things are being done to him and not a character who is doing things.

And it makes me afraid ! because the same thing happened to ZZX and JY. Remember : we all liked zhanyi because because it was two strong characters, with different feelings, desires, behaviours, etc. JY was always the most active one in the relationship, but ZZx had a personality : remember the confession scene ? the kidnapping scene ? You could really feel who ZZX was. And then, once he began to reciprocate JY’s feelings, his character... disappeared.

Like honestly i dont mean to offend, but ZZX right now ? He’s a street lamp. A sexy, stylish streetlamp, but a streetlamp. He could disappear from the story, you could replace by a photography for JY to droll over, it would be the same. And it makes me sad ! But that’s the reason i’m totally disengaged from zhanyi now. Zhanyi is : Jyan Yi does something ->ZZX is.... here I guess. Once again, a character where things are done to him. He’s just kind of hanging out, and we know JY care about him because JY says he cares about him, but there’s nothing to show for it. It’s been years I think, where all ZZX is doing is sighing, patting JY shoulders, oh and last chapter he ran in the hospital. Where he still is probably.

And I’m so afraid the same thing is going to happen to Mo :0 !! Like, now he mellows and kind of reciprocate HT’s feelings, so he’s just becoming someone who stand by, cry, and run. The main character is HT, and Mo is here to look at him. He’s loosing his personality !! I dont want him to disappear. I dont want Old Xian to do the active one who initiates all the actions x the passive one who says “ahh” “ooh” when the active one do something. Please OX dont do that T_T

Hoping the trend will change soon... even if Mo doesnt want to fight anymore, or scream anymore, he doesnt have to become boring. It’s a strong fit to socialize with others when all your life you have been shunned, to learn to trust and love again, there’s a way of depicting it where Mo keeps his strong, fierce personality, without it meaning he’s automatically reverting back to fighting and insulting.

My Musical Academy pt 2

·         The whole sequence of “What Time Is It” with the roles I set in post number 1 gets funnier.

·         Bakugou ofc owns the resort everyone got their summer jobs in.

·         Iida lifting everyone’s spirits, and Ochako helping him. Bakugou is mildly amused by this, and decides to invite everyone to participate in the end of summer talent show.

·         Todoroki complains that he doesn’t want to work because this whole thing was idea of his dad. He still does it, but only bcs Iida is his best friend and this means a lot to him.

·         Actually Deku is also working there bcs he’s trying to help his mother with the bills. He’s happy to see that Iida is lifting everyone’s spirits and looks up to him.

·         ALSO none of the bullshit about complicated romance things. Ochako and Iida are happy and participate with his own song. Their conflict is a big convoluted fight over which song of Hamilton they should use to the talent show.

·         THE I DON’T DANCE SEQUENCE WITH TODODEKU. Bcs for some reason, Todoroki thinks that bcs Deku is a theatre kid he can’t play sports.

·         BOY IS HE WRONG

·         Deku shows off his skills in every fucking sport and how ripped he is

·         Bakugou doesn’t pick iida to perform with him. He choses Kirishima.

Oh I love this concept! Yes, absolutely dear!

Lucifer:

Lucifer was walking down the halls of the house of Lamentation making sure no one had sneaked out, when he passed your room and heard some shuffling inside.

He figured it would be for the best to check up on you, as he slowly knocked on the door and awaited to see if you responded, which you did a couple of seconds later.

The moment you opened the door Lucifer had to stop himself from chuckling at their state. Pajamas and messy hair as you looked at him with a frown and asked what he wanted. Lucifer would raise an eyebrow and ask if everything was okay, followed by you explaining that for some reason you simply couldn't go to sleep.

Lucifer smiled softly before nodding, telling you to go back in bed and that he would be back in a few minutes, and not daring to defy the Avatar of Pride, you did just that.

After a couple of minutes Lucifer knocked once again on the door, and came in after you told him it was unlocked, the divine aroma of tea invading your room as Lucifer sat beside you and gave you the cup.

“...this isnt the tea you once said would make me fall asleep forever, is it?” You asked, looking at him with tired eyes as the delicious aroma made its way to you.

“Would you like it to be?” You looked at him for a moment, only for him to smirk warmly. “Its just tea, it should help you relax.” With that, you decided to take a sip from the tea.

You dont know if it was the drink or the company, but soon enough you started to get sleepy, you went into a comfortable position and Lucifer put the covers over your body before walking towards the door.

Only for you to decide to grab his arm, sleepy eyes looking up at him. “...stay...”

This would get a heartfelt laugh out of Lucifer as he lays next to you on bed, a hand around your waist as he holds you close and kisses the back of your head softly.

“Sweet dreams” Is the last thing you hear before drifting to sleep in the demons arms.

Leviathan:

It was almost 3 am, yet Leviathan was still awake watching the newest episode from an anime he liked. The climax of the episode had just began when a knock on his door made him jump, making his phone fall. Leviathan glared at the door before getting open and opening the door, ready to yell at whoever it was that startled him.

But, he stopped himself at the sight of you, tired eyes and holding a pillow as you looked sheepishly away. 

“...i cant sleep...can i stay here with you?” You looked up at him, making Leviathans heart skip a beat and his otakuness remind him of all the anime where the protagonist fell asleep with their crush because of this exact situation. He couldn't answer you, so he just stepped aside to let you come in.

You two would just sit besides each other doing your own thing, he would be reading some manga while you peep over his shoulder, at some point your head would fall on his shoulder. Making the awkward demon turn bright red and look at you, poking your cheek.

“...did you really just fell asleep?” He would ask softly, not wanting to wake you up, once there is no response other than your soft breathing, Leviathan  would somehow manage to get the both of you in his “bed” (How does this boy sleep in a bathtub?) without waking you up.

He would close his eyes trying to fall asleep before he feels you shuffling around, a hand moving and resting on top of his chest as you head was gently placed on his arm, making the demon die of embarrassment for a second.

After getting used to the touch, Leviathan would place his hand on top of years and fall asleep like that, a happy smile in his lips. (Tho, dont complain if the next day you wake up with back pains, what were you expecting XD)

Satan

Satan was on his way back to his room when he bumped onto someone on the hallway. He would glare at the person before noticing its. His features would immediately change as he smiles. “Ah, apologies Mc, didn't see you there.” You would reassure him that’s its fine as he watches you rub your eyes. “Everything okay?”

“yeah...i just cant fall asleep.” Mc would frown at nothing, making Satan smile softly at them, taking their hand into his and leading them into his room.

“I have the perfect cure for that.” You followed the demon into his room, and sat on his bed once he indicated for you to do so, waiting a couple of seconds as he looked for something from all his bookshelves, only to make an “aha!” noise once he found it and turned around. “Found it.” Satan smiles as he sits besides you, a book in his hands.

“...are you going to put a spell on me to fall asleep?” You question, looking at him with a small smirk causing him to blush slightly.

“I would never use such a trick on you...” There would be a small silence as Satan looks away from the human, who s still smirking as their eyes are glued to the demon, he would clear his throat and face them once again. “I was actually thinking about reading for you a little. It helps me relax and i thought that it might help you fall asleep.” He explains simply. “Would that be okay?” His voice is soft as looks at you, only for you to nod and scoot closer to him.

Satan would get comfortable besides you, both of you resting your backs against his beds headboard while your head was on his chest, looking at the book he was holding with his left hand while his right hand was over your shoulders, slowly caressing your arm.

His soft voice and the words from the book, the lingering touches and the warm feeling would not take long before they made you fall asleep. Satan would notice almost immediately and smile softly at you, softly kissing your forehead before moving to be more comfortable and hold you closer, a happy humm would leave his lips before falling a sleep besides you.

Beelzebub

Beel was on his way to the kitchen for his midnight snack, when he ran into you. You were sitting in a chair starring at an empty glass with a tired expression, which made him frown and walk up to you.

“Mc?” He would call your name, announcing his presence before walking up to you. “Is everything okay?” His voice would be as soft as possibly as he brings a hand to your head, patting it slowly.

“I cat sleep.” You say simply, a sad expression as you are now leaning close to him, which Beel immediately takes as a sing of you needing a hug. He would wrap his arms around you, his big body immediately becoming a safe space as you melted into his arms, a tired sigh leaving your lips.

Beel would hug you for a long time, his head resting on top of yours as he refused to let you go, before he gets an idea. Carefully, he would pick you up bridal style. Asking you if it was okay and if you were comfortable before smiling and starting to walk towards your room.

Once inside, Beel would put you in bed and lay besides you, holding you tightly as he faces you.

“...you are always there for me when i get nightmares...o i want to be here for you as well.” his eyes meet yours before he smiles, his arms holding you even tighter, making you bury your head in his chest, a breathy laugh falls.

“You are so damn sweet.” Your hands wrap around him as well before you look at him, your faces close before he gives you a small peck, a blush dusting his cheeks before he proceeds to kiss you again.

“...try and get some rest, i wont go anywhere.” He speaks agaisnt your hair.

“...thank you”, that’s the last thing he hears, a couple of minutes later you managed to fall asleep surrounded by the warmth of the big demon as he carefully holds you.

Hope this meets your expectations and that you liked it! I tried to make it as fluffy and soft as i could but i don't have much experience in the fluffy part 😅 but i still hope this was enjoyable!

I would like to hear your reasons for not liking Telltale. I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm just genuinely curious. (You know, aside from what I've heard they do to their gamedevs)

WELL. if you INSIST

gameplay: none of your choices matter. you usually get 3 choices with either of them making such little difference that you might as well stay silent. the story is set in stone so it doesnt matter how you get there. now, a game like this having a string of events that happen regardless of choice makes sense. but when i treat a character badly and dismissive the entire game and all it does is change our relationship from a romance to star-crossed lovers, or when i do my best to trust and care for a character and they still make my character betray them in the end, or when i go out of my way to pledge allegiance to a cause only for the game to pretend i didn’t bc they didn’t plan for someone to do so, then how fucking dare you advertise this game as being about choices.

i’ve played games like mass effect, that had a core plot that wouldnt change, but every decision you made somehow affected your standing in this plot, your relationship with someone, or just the way your character is portrayed. hell, even in hotel dusk, if you’re mean to ppl, the protag’s personality changes accordingly in scenes where you don’t have control of his reactions. and that game’s a straight up visual novel.

art, design, whatever: ugly as hell. it works for some of their games (wolf among us, borderlands), not for others. but they’re holding onto it as their trademark style and it rly holds them back. however, this one’s subjective, so my other big point about it is:

the animation. absolutely atrocious. every animation is so badly paced and unintentionally awkward that everytime it needs to be purposefully awkward, it just falls flat. not to mention, when a scene is meant to be dramatic, or funny, or heartwarming, or even just fast-paced and action-filled.. it ALL falls flat. there’s not a single scene that feels organic and for a game that’s all about immersion, this is unacceptable. and ofc its not just the character animations alone, its also things like camera work and general pacing. but if they fixed one of these things, it’d already go a long way.

dialogues are just as awkward for the most part, especially because the devs clearly didnt think most of them through when it comes to the choices. they let conversations play out the same, bar one sentence loosely referring to your answer.

also, there is no skip button. you cant skip through the usually long voice lines even tho you can have subtitles on, thus already reading what the person is saying. this sounds minor but it seriously starts to get on your nerves, esp when you’re stuck in a scene that youre not interested in (bc, e.g., you don’t care about the romantic relationship the game has been trying to push you into from the start)

characters: bad. most of them feel the same. again, this is subjective, but i have a huge pet peeve with writers not adjusting their writing style. characters that shouldn’t have witty one-liners bc they’re supposed to be menacing get them anyway bc the writers couldnt help themselves. every character can develop a nervous stutter at any given moment, as if that’s sth that’s universal to people. stuff like that.

i remember in boderlands, when i finally got to meet handsome jack and thought ok, now it’s finally get more energetic and fun, he didn’t feel much different from the characters we had already met. and don’t even ASK me about the characters in batman. they even LOOK interchangeable for the most part bc guess what, telltale character designs are either ridiculously plain or ridiculously over-designed.

and this isn’t mentioning how much the characters miss their mark. you’re supposed to think of x character as a sympathetic freedom fighter who has their heart in the right place and is worth getting to know, but they wrote them as a rude, whiny, borderline sociopathic asshole who makes me wish telltale had the balls to let you make big decisions so i could kill this dick already.again, its subjective. but thats the beauty of a game about CHOICES. if someone feels differently about a character than you intended, you let them choose to act accordingly and experience the game in a different way.likewise, characters that are supposedly horrible and irredeemable but rly only did one messed up thing that you dont care about. but the game forces you to condemn them for it anyway. like alright then, bye.

and ofc, the protagonists are……….. weird. first of all, half of them are voiced by troy baker and as great as i think he is as a voice actor, im sick of him. especially since he delivers all his performances in his normal voice. im starting to feel like im playing troy baker more than rhys wayne or whoever.

and to latch back onto what i said above, what the game does with them is awful: you’re supposed to identify with them bc you get to decide how they act but at the same time they’re more or less established characters and if you don’t relate to them from the start, the game dismisses your choices. so in the end, it’s neither here nor there. i remember i thought rhys was gonna be great bc he was the protag, but one of the bad guys, and he was one voluntarily and with a lot of conviction. thats so fucking interesting! i wonder how this game is gonna play out if i indulge in my love for this concept! i wonder if i can end this game as the new head of hyperion! yes, look at me go!! this is awesome!! this is everything i wanted!! my relationship with jack is the only one that actually feels rewarding and now we’re gonna be the bad guys together!! this makes all the hours i wasted on this so worth it i can’t believ- oh we hate hyperion now for no reason and want to kill jack. ok then.also full offense but as the game went on it kept going out of its way to make rhys look incompetent and humiliate him and is that rly what you want for the character you’ve (allegedly) been making decisions for..? it just felt uncomfortable after a while lmfao

anyway, in general, the idea is nice, the execution is horrible. kinda like how i tried to section these things off into different topics but ended up rambling without structure anyway.

like, look. ive gotten tired of bioware games too. i probably couldnt play mass effect again just bc ALL bioware games feel the same (even tho i like some of them more than others and mass effect is definitely still one of my fav trilogies ever. but if you keep reusing gameplay, voice actors, animations, etc… it just gets tiring).

so i think telltale’s 2 biggest sins are not giving you the control of the story they promise you and desperately clinging to their ways in order to keep their trademark style
