Dead Tired College AU
AKA "Danny Fenton and Tim Drake go to college at Gotham-U together" headcanon!!
Maybe Danny moved to Gotham to avoid his parents finding out about Phantom and Tim is a part-time college student trying to get his business degree so people stop accusing Bruce Wayne of nepotism after Tim inherited WE. (It absolutely still is, but at least this way Tim is at least somewhat more qualified on paper.)
Anyways, they both took Anthropology as their humanities/pre-requisite elective and they're discussing death rituals, afterlife, etc. Now imagine Danny, officially Half-Dead, and Tim, who's brothers (Jason and Damian) literally died, getting into a heated discussion about spirits.
I also find the idea of them arguing via fucking Canvas (or whatever discussion forum/platform Gotham-U uses) so, so funny.
Imagine it's like 3am;
Danny, insomniac, been awake for 42 hours and popping melatonin gummies like gummy bears, furiously typing: i'm literally THE KING of infinite realms?? i know what i'm talking about, i fucking died
Tim, also been awake for 42 hours, chugging an energy drink, sending a response in 0.2 seconds: Half of Gotham has died at some point. You're not special, dumbass.
Give me "group of scientists losing their minds and climbing over the table to assault one another during scientific conference" vibes!!
And then they get paired up to do a group presentation (and Brad, who they ignore because they're both Experts, so this poor frat dude just slowly sinks into his chair between two sleep-deprived maniacs screaming at each other in the library). But Tim notices something weird about Danny, aside from his insane views on afterlife. Danny... glows? And sometimes doesn't really touch the floor when he walks. They're going to get coffee (so they can keep arguing debating, obviously, not because they enjoy each other's company or anything), and Tim watches as Danny just kind of... floats. Like, he's still walking but he's not really touching the ground.
Danny's hands are also super cold. Tim knows this because he grabbed Danny's hands once or twice (or more) to do... something, idk. But since his hands were so cold, Tim figured he should probably keep holding them; y'know, to warm them up.
And when Tim leans in to ask a question or insult him, Danny's breath comes out almost like a mist. Visibly white, like exhaling a hot breath in winter. Which... what. Holy shit, is his presentation partner actually sort of dead??
Danny, on the other hand, has no idea that Tim doesn't know. He literally said he died? And Tim took it so well, snarked back that he's not special - it was so nice to just feel normal. So he lets his guard down a bit. Maybe isn't as tangible, maybe is a bit more floaty, lets his body temperature drop enough to be comfortable. Doesn't put a whole lot of effort into making himself look so alive (because it's really tiring to pretend to be something you're not) when it's just him and Tim because Tim already knows, right?
They could be friends or they could be more! Whatever floats your boat.
But I could totally see Danny squinting at Tim holding his hand, remembering how Tim bought his favorite coffee, saved him a spot a the library, constantly texted him (because, c'mon, Tim is a bit obsessive and you don't think he'd be texting his new "friend ;)" every minute he has the chance?), and always leaned in super close to "ask a question"...and be like, are we flirting?? Oh, Hells, am I into him??
For plot reasons, Danny could be like, "I can't tell Tim I like him! What if I ruin our friendship? It'll be my secret."
And then, one day, Tim is like, "Hey, I know you're keeping something from me. I think I know what it is." And Danny's like ohshitohfuck. This cumulates into them saying, at the same time, I know you're a ghost and I have a crush on you.
Tim and Danny: *shocked Pikachu face*
Then, Danny's like, "I can't believe I have a crush on a fucking idiot."

"The worst kind of person is someone who makes you feel bad, dumb, or stupid for feeling excited about something." -Taylor Swift
I've been putting these thoughts together for a while now, but while there's discussion going on today about so-called 'toxic positivity' as well as some of the other Veilguard critical takes, I'm finally going to write it down.
I liked The Veilguard. A lot. And I'm not going to qualify that with some statement about the things that could have been done better or even about the development hell it went through. Because "I liked The Veilguard" is a complete sentence, and in fact maybe I'll start saying it more, just like that. (:
Something about me is that I like Taylor Swift (I'm making a point) and I have liked Taylor Swift since I was eleven. And for 90% of that time, people have laughed at me for it, or told me that she isn't even a good singer or that she dates too much or that her music is immature. My own sister brings up how much she hates Taylor Swift constantly without prompt. And guess what?
I don't care.
I Do Not Care.
That may be your opinion. And believe it or not, that's fine!
It is, however, very weird when I am asked my favorite artist and I say Taylor Swift and people feel compelled to tell me how much they hate her/her music/that she's not talented. And then I am expected to argue and somehow try to justify why I like her/what her music means to me/why i connect with it.
Spoiler Alert: it never ever matters what I say.
And it's actually fine if you don't like the same things I like!! What's weird is to come into a space where people are talking about how much they like The Thing and you feel compelled to tell them they're wrong!
And admittedly, it's a little funny to me that the same Veilguard critics who say that DATV is "too black & white" also can't seem to see that they're doing the very thing they're critiquing!! "I am good and smart for disliking this game and you are bad and stupid for liking it" is just a silly opinion to have on a video game and some of them say it with their whole chest.
So if you're a Veilguard critic and you're coming into the replies/reblogs of VG Positive posts just to talk about how we're stupid and wrong that's really odd!! And then, when we participate in the discourse you created, you call it 'toxic positivity'! It's almost like you're starting a fight you know we can't win because you're unwilling to change your opinion and you just want us to feel bad about ours!!! Which is, in my opinion, a strange way to spend your time.
In conclusion: You're weird for that, knock it off.

Can't sleep so I'm gonna talk about Akane Tendo's reputation among fans. It's no secret I'm an Akane fan, and I'm glad that the fandom seems to be kinder to her today than in the past. In light of this, I'd like to address some of the common arguments people make or used to make against her.
For reference, a significant chunk of the humor in Ranma 1/2 involves Ranma, often intentionally, pissing Akane off, to the point that she hits him really, really hard. This is a pretty common comedic trope in shonen anime prior to like...I wanna say the 2010s? (I never watched Naruto since it looked bad but I am pretty sure that's Sakura and Naruto's dynamic.) Anyways, while I joined the fandom recently, I have learned that when the show came over to America in the early 90s, Akane was SUPER controversial for treating Ranma like this, with her critics calling her a violent domestic abuser and misandrist, and her reputation has only really recovered recently.
Now, if the "girl character beats up boy character in fit of rage" trope is something that isn't your taste in comedy, then it's not your taste in comedy. However, it's important to keep in mind qualifiers for Akane's behavior. Akane at the start of the series has been harassed by boys at her school who want to beat her up and force her to date them, leading to her having a justifiably poor perception of men and boys. Her hating boys and seeing the worst in them is very different from a man hating women due to patriarchal expectations, and even then she treats boys who are nice to her like Ryoga well.
Honestly, the only area where her dislike of boys gets kinda like morally problematic in my view is if you interpret Ranma as a trans girl: while I joked in an earlier post that Akane is a TERF, one could argue that, albeit unintentionally, Akane's negative reaction to seeing Ranma naked in her bathtub (even if accidentally) and then calling him/her a pervert plays on transphobic rhetoric against letting trans women use the women's restrooms like we're supposed to. (Humorously, most of the people mad at Akane seem to be, ah...not exactly fond of trans!Ranma headcanons, but I digress.) If other trans girls or our allies don't find the slapstick funny for that reason, fair enough, but I don't feel bothered by it given how most of the time Ranma gets hit it's for being legitimately rude and again the violence is very unrealistic.
Admittedly, if Ranma 1/2 had a more serious tone and grounded level of violence, Akane hitting Ranma would be abusive. But in the series, martial artists can walk off stuff like being crushed by a boulder, so Akane beating Ranma up by kicking him/her 50 feet into the sky because she thought he/she was trying to feel her up is not so much like domestic abuse and more akin to a wife giving her husband a light dope slap. Remember, much of the violence in this series is basically just that of a Tom and Jerry cartoon, albeit with an early Dragon Ball aesthetic. Furthermore, Ranma - as much as I love him/her as a character - is usually the instigator, with the wiki even having a list of the cruel nicknames he/she gives her, so it's not as if her actions are unwarranted:
There is, per some people, a gendered component to this discussion, that if the genders were flipped, this wouldn't be funny since Ranma doesn't hit Akane. Now, firstly, if you're a man and a 35-year-old anime not having a boy beat up a girl enough is your worst experience with "sexism", well...get over it. Secondly, in terms of wider media, men commit violence against women that is framed for laughs all the time (ex.: Miroku in Inuyasha, another Rumiko Takahashi series, is a male character where his running gag involves him groping women, which is a more realistic form of violence than anything Akane dishes out), so the notion that it's only women who hurt men in media for laughs is untrue. Thirdly, the notion that hitting Ranma is viewed as okay because "he's a boy" is dubious since he does canonically turn into a girl and Akane hits Ranma regardless of gende, and despite his claims to the contrary he/she doesn't really hate being a girl as much as he/she claims. As a concession, I will note that especially in the past some writers can be reluctant to show slapstick against women, but this is more due to internalized misogyny and viewing women as weak and needing protection. Personally, even assuming that Akane was a boy and Ranma was wholly a girl, I'd have no problem with the slapstick since it's clearly goofy and unrealistic.
Anyways, I'd like to conclude by saying (1) I am glad that I joined the fandom at a time when Akane is being perceived more and more fairly as a flawed but generally pretty nice and hilarious character who has a good deal of pathos despite the clearly slapstick-y nature of the series, and (2) thanks for reading this long, very sincere post.

Feedback in Interactive Fiction
Just sitting, writing a game with no feedback can be incredibly difficult and demoralizing; you're just sitting there, accumulating page after page, and it can feel like you're just doing it in this complete vacuum.
And interactive fiction is, I think, *extra hard* to get feedback for--the barrier to entry feels higher. You can't just hand someone your story, and then, even if they play through, they've only seen (if you are branching interestingly) a sliver of the story.
It's hard enough to get someone to read a short story you wrote and give you honest, useful feedback that isn't "oh, yeah, I liked it!" because they are your friend. Getting that for interactive fiction, getting some real conversation is--I don't want to say crazy difficult, because I have seen it--but let's say very, very challenging.
That's the nature of the beast, though.
I mean, I've been immersed in Choice games for a decade now, and when I go to the Choice of Games Reddit and people ask about certain paths through games that I have played multiple times, some of those aren't even familiar to me. I have nothing to say on those threads, because I don't even know that romantic path they're asking about! It's hard to have a conversation about IF, and that's why the Reddit threads are almost all asking for recommendations rather than a discussion of a game--because done well, most players of a game are reading quite distinct games.
This, in addition to the incredible array of truly excellent works-in-progress brewing right now. It's hard to find people who want to get immersed to the level of being able to offer feedback.
And then there is the other problem, which is that it's quite challenging to give feedback: it's a pretty sophisticated skill, and I know this because I teach it (or try to) in my classes. People have a lot of trouble knowing how to move from microlevel feedback (you need an "s" at the end of this word; you spelled that wrong; this character's eyes were blue in this chapter but brown in that chapter) to macrolevel feedback (I didn't think this part was funny; I got confused by the end of Chapter Two; you need more transition into the fight scene).
Microlevel feedback feels safe. Macrolevel feedback is hard and puts yourself out there in a scary way. And you run the risk of the author getting defensive. This is why when you make students read each other's essays they will look at each other and say "It was good, I really liked it!" with no other feedback unless they are taught otherwise.
We're all super busy, and many, many, many people who are best qualified to evaluate interactive fiction are writing interactive fiction themselves. And if they are, their precious time is spoken for!
I feel this as well as I'm working on a really, really long sequel to a really, really long first game in a series, which is itself a takeoff on another pretty long game. It's like...how do I present this to someone for feedback? My solution has been to make this game relatively standalone and understandable as is, but even so, there's a getting-overwhelmed-factor at play.
I've written more about this effect here (for free membership) and how odd it is to be in the middle of a series and try to talk about the middle game, and just some thoughts about series in general.
I have also apparently hit some button or other and initiated a 25% "End of April," membership sale, which, all right, let us celebrate spring together in this fashion. It's not maypoles and cloved fruit, but it'll will do, I suppose.

TES Crushes
@pyre-of-pages had a fantastic idea for a tag game, so in the spirit of such things, I'm tagging @sulphuricgrin @skyrim-forever @nyarevar @archangelsunited @firefly-factory @thescrolls-haveforetold @redyn-nerevarine @vehksfingerguns
Which NPCs in TES (all games included!) do you crush on, and why? They don't have to be marriage candidates (in vanilla), just people you find yourself blushing around. Hell, it could be a Deadric Prince if that's what you're into. Name them and say what about them you find appealing! Then feel free to tag a friend or two!
Don't be afraid to reiterate what someone else has said if you happen to like the same characters.
A shortlist.
Teldryn Sero: Starting off with the guy who I've bastardised into whatever the hell Josh is. Firstly, he's a Dunmer so that's a point in his favour. He's snarky and talkative, and he hates almost everything that didn't come from under Red Mountain's shadow. Honestly, it's his voice that gets me, and it's still the tone I use for Josh, even if his accent skews a little closer to Australian.
Volanaro: He's a minor character in Oblivion. You can help him pull a prank on the head of the Bruma Mages Guild. Guy's funny, I like that. Shame about the whole thing with Mannimarco though.
Aicantar: He and I are qualified to do the same thing (archaeology) so I'm into that. He seems like the kind of guy who's a bit awkward but you can have a really intense discussion with him about Dwemer. Look, I get why he prefers being in the lab. I prefer the lab too but sometimes you gotta actually look at the site you're studying dude.
Enthir: Nerd power, I also enjoy ancient linguistics and sarcasm. He's an asshole though so idk I wouldn't date the guy but he seems fun in small doses.
Tussurradad: He's here because I once gave this Ashlander 3 kwama eggs and his disposition jumped to 90. He inspired Erra so give him a poke if you're wandering the Urshilaku camp.
Ahnassi: She's your girlfriend. You'd do anything to make her happy and she, in return, will give you a place to live that isn't Caius Cosades' manky one-room apartment. She has the goss on where the best stuff is.
Kud-Ei: Offers one of my favourite quests in Oblivion, where you save her friend from his dreams. She's so nice and just willing to help anyone who needs it. She deserves all the hugs.
Wylandriah: She's forgotten where everything is and I know what that feels like. She's onto something and she knows it but everyone else is a self-obsessed asshole who think perfect executive function = intelligence. She's stuck working for a boss that doesn't understand the complexity of what needs to be done and she needs a holiday. I love her, I am her and I get her. Girl might need to talk to someone who's better versed in both the Heart Chamber and the Shivering Isles though.

I needed to make a post about this because...well, the title says everything.

First of all I would like to say that I'm feeling a bit anxious sharing my thoughts about this. I don't know if I'm the most qualified to talk about this but it has been bugging me.
I know a lot of people have already discussed the way Miguel, a POC and a latino man out of all people, has been oversexualized to a point that it feels fetishy and a bit concerning sometimes. I think we can all acknowledge this and that already gives us a lot to think about.
But what I think is really interesting is that not only is Miguel an intentional thirst-trap, he is a thirst-trap created mainly by a team of male producers/ writers. From what I read, the people in charge of his character design were men (I want to say that I am by no mean attacking anyone who worked on this movie. They did an amazing job and I am just sharing my thoughts, not saying they are bad people for this choise or anything. Thank you).
And I find this very telling. Because when I first saw this headline, I thought "Oh finally, women have been given the chance to freely thirst over a male character the same way men do." And I think it was a big mistake from me to think this way. (First of all, there are also men and non-binary simping over him). Because, let's be real for one second there, do we really want to thirst over characters the way men do? I have been an anime fan for years and let me tell you, the way a lot of men/ fanboys view female characters is simply gross (I know, I know, not all men). It's also something I noticed in comics and video games. Like, have you seen the outrage when a video game studio wants to propose female characters who do not look like what some p*rn addicts imagines women are?
My point is that Miguel has been created not with the female gaze in mind, but with the male gaze (and it hurts to say this). That's what I got from reading the part of the interview. The emphasis on his butt, the overly masculine, muscular body... Miguel was created not by following what women like in men but by what men imagine that women like in men.
This is also something we can see a lot in various medias over the last years, especially in the romance genre. The way some "desirable" men are depicted do not fit what women seek in a partner but what men imagine women want (ofc every woman has different criteria when it comes to this). I think it's very blatant when you compare medias written by and for women like Shonda Rhimes's shows, Bridgerton, Outlander... and medias written by men. So, in the end, I think that Miguel has been created with that in mind "Let's make a big, tall, dark and broody, muscular matcho man. That's what the female public wants." (ofc it's never as simple as that but you get the idea).
So... does this mean that it's bad to simp/ thirst over this character? Surprisingly I'm going to say no and I even think that it's important that the women in this fandom keep making content around Miguel! Because when we write fanfictions, draw fanarts of him... we are now picturing him with a real female gaze and that's what brings even more complexity and depth to this character.
I have seen so many interpretations of this character since I joined this fandom and a lot of them were really cool/ beautiful, showing just how much people love this character. When you think about it, it's crazy that a character who only got 15 minutes of screen time can have such a strong effect on a fandom, meaning that he is more than just a thirst trap. I genuinely think that the content created by the fans gives this character his humanity back (because, yes, being sexualized to no end deshumanizes a person. Go argue with a wall, thank you very much). I've seen so many tender, soft but also funny depictions of him making him more than just some ass shots on the big screen. And even on the NSFW corner of the fandom, some people out there are really making him more than just this "feral beast" that we have been sold by giving him back his tenderness, his sensuality...
So, yeah, take this headline with care and think what you want of it. Those were just my thoughts. Feel free to disagree, tell me if I got something wrong or just leave your thoughts under this post because I'm genuinely curious of seeing other fan's opinions. I apologize for the mess of this take.
And now I'm going back to sleep.

Sometimes being in the SW Fandom is about diving into the annals of the internet researching the most obscure tidbit of batshit insane Canon or EU Lore imaginable to man (which is honestly my favorite thing to do because people have done some pretty insanely funny things with this universe and characters). But for the majority of the time, being in the SW Fandom is also watching people repeat a cycle of asinine arguments that make an absolute ass out of them for the worst possible reasons.
So here's a quick reminder of past arguments to be mindful of and always consider, when you see something in the tags that makes you wrinkle your nose at:
Everyone has something they like or dislike about the overall universe and story. Be it the Original Trilogy, the Prequels, the Sequels, the Animated series, the Live-Action series, EU stuff, Novels, etc. No one is above or below anyone else just because they don't love the entirety of the universe and/or the direction the current writers are taking it.
Canon can be a good baseline for your own creative purposes. You don't have to love it (because yes the whole thing can be inconsistent as hell), but don't get to a point in your fanfic/AU world-building where you vehemently deny that canon is an actual thing. This goes hand in hand with your personal depiction of characters vs someone else's depictions. Reading comprehension and the creative process depend on perspective and how you process the information you're given, so it's only normal that no two person's idea of a character is the same. But saying that your headcanons are how the characters should be written by everyone is not gonna do you any favors in the long run, because it's not up to you to decide on that. Don't forget Blorbo's actual roots and what it took to get him where you took him, but don't try to force someone else to accept the journey you orchestrated for them!
No one's OC should be put on a pedestal. It's good that people feel comfortable enough to play Barbies with each other's OCs in roleplay sessions, or even add a cameo in a fic to a character of a friend and/or artist/writer they admire from a distance. Hell, the fact many people are passionate about someone else's little fella/s is great! But the moment someone's OC becomes an object of obsession within a Fandom community, things can go a little wrong... It stops being fun to be in that kind of space that goes from welcoming OC discussions to suddenly shunning new people in favor of someone's Ultimate Blorbo who now has a Cult Following and should be written into every fanfic ever.
No one is evil for lacking knowledge or self-awareness of certain grievances that people rightfully have with the source material. The SW Fandom has always had a long-standing issue with racial stereotyping, whitewashing, cultural appropriation, sexism and many other equally serious topics that have been more eloquently explained in posts made by people much more eloquent and qualified than I am or ever will be. However, one must recognize that not everyone who joins the Fandom is immediately aware of these things. Especially the younger generations that have either not been exposed to these concepts due to one reason or another (upbringing, biased educational curriculum, etc), or because they were simply never in a position where they could delve into these topics with someone knowledgeable on them (some experiences simply aren't universal, especially if you come from a more privileged family). For the most part, SW is just a silly sci-fi universe that is nothing more than a simple means of escapism or dumb fun. Not everyone is going to study it under a microscope or go through it with a fine comb. That said, another important thing to remember is to listen to those who know their stuff and that have had personal grievances with any of the topics above. You can be excused for lack of knowledge, but you cannot be excused for purposefully ignoring the voices of those who provide you said knowledge for free if you go searching.
This is kinda returning to the second and previous topics, but I really need to put emphasis on this: If you're going to cling to certain design choices with an iron first and incorporate them into your personal ideas/headcanons, please always consider how it SOUNDS when you say characters that are written with basis on real POC people/communities are much better/superior if they have phenotypical trait expressions that are not present (or considered rare/atypical) in their real world basis. This is a CONSISTENT problem I have seen crop up specifically within the Clone Wars and Bad Batch sides of the fandom, especially when talking about Rex (who is a blond) and Clone Force 99 (who do not look like standard clones). Always remember: The problem isn't that Rex can't be naturally blond (genetics can be unpredictable and we really don't have an extensive look into the cloning process), the problem is the way some people think he'd be inferior in some way if he were a bottle blond who chose to distinguish himself (almost as if having darker skin, darker hair and darker eyes is somehow worse than having lighter skin, lighter hair or lighter eyes.. How curious isn't it?). Needless to say, I don't think I need to elaborate further on why CF99's "desirable mutations" giving them considerably lighter skin and less ethnic features, while also making their most POC presenting member look and sometimes act like a moronic brute (something which this Fandom pushes further by infantilizing him relentlessly), is a bit of a red flag...
Star Wars has always been political. It is literally in the name and in the meat of the writing. The entire thing is basically a political and social critique presented in a sci-fi/fantasy wrapper, with colorful plasma swords, cool spaceships, and kickass explosion bow on top. You cannot separate the political conversation from the universe's overall lore, and trying to do so makes you look foolish. Disney may have taken creative liberties with some of its shows, but at the end of the day they can't ever eliminate what the Original Trilogies and even the Prequels tried to tell us about. With that said, complaining about how some of the new shows are "too Woke" or PC is the equivalent of saying you read Romeo and Juliet and that the story is relationship goals. You might need to revisit the original material.
For the love of god if you don't like something, don't go after someone who does, it's not worth it. Sometimes the best thing you can do is either filter something you actively dislike/that makes you feel uncomfortable, or simply unfollow/block whoever is repeatedly bringing it onto your doorstep. And you also have no real obligation to explain your decision to block someone, especially if they hound you for questions. Rule of thumb: Don't like something? That's perfectly fine and valid. Take the steps to make yourself comfortable then, but don't go out of your way to be a royal asshole to someone else just because they themselves enjoy it. This encompasses things from anti-jedi demonization, actual ethnic cleansing in canon, siding with personifications of alt-right extremists, proshipping apologism, etc. The block button was added to this hellsite for a reason. Use it.
Sometimes you can't change someone else's opinions on a matter and that is perfectly fine. Just don't start a feud. People come and go, and their opinions vary (we're all individuals with out own perspectives and unique experiences after all), but getting up in arms every time someone either refuses to yield in a long-winded argument, or continuously tries to shove their unsolicited opinions/advice onto you, or even makes incredibly uncomfortable/forward/gross comments that they definitely shouldn't be saying to a complete stranger on the internet, is kind of pointless and will drain you of energy faster than you can say Death Star. You're not the lesser person for walking away from a lost cause. It's ultimately not your job or responsibility to fix/better someone else. Especially if they don't want to change.

I know it's for like getting to know them more, but I find the wording, "For some reason, Teneson and Portia are also here" to be funny as hell. Because that's like wish basically saying that, "Yeah, I don't really have a lore reason why they WOULD be here, but they are because I want to explore them more" and that's so valid That just makes me giggle a little bit. *wipes tear* Anyway, on a more serious note. This was hinted by him in the discord a while ago, y'know with Cortes, Teneson and Portia being more involved in the next arc. Certain people I've discussed this with, primarily the number one Portia fan, suspected that they're there to hunt down Riffraff. (Credit to @portiaonmercury aka the number one Portia fan for the idea since they were the ones to discuss it to me, and I'm just rehashing what they've told me.) The idea is that Teneson wants to use Portia since he knows that Portia means a lot to Riffraff. Using her like the cheese in a rat trap. But I doubt Riffraff would be that easy to capture, considering that you'd think in the decade that Teneson had been trying to capture the rat man, he'd use that method already. I personally think there will be more. Like having Portia there would increase the chances of the rat man being there, but for him to actively show his face especially with Teneson around. There'd better be a good reason. Considering that Riffraff's only afraid of Teneson. (Bro literally warned us that he wouldn't be showing up in the Academy Arc due to Teneson being there) (And he mentions in the Oasis that the only person that can catch him is Teneson, how could bro do that when you can teleport? I have no idea but maybe that'll be explored in the next story arc) Wish has also said that he wanted to explore Teneson's backstory on how he got his Reragon before he joined DoodleCo. That'd be so interesting, and maybe he'll explore why Teneson is described as so cutthroat about being the 2nd position in DoodleCo outside of just wanting power. Like Teneson has had beef with Lucas ever since the beginning for some reason. And honestly the next arc could explore why Teneson is so mean towards Portia, because bro should know that Portia ain't near qualified for the job, it was literally given to her by the CEO without a choice. I have a bit of a lore prediction that Teneson dragged Portia all the way to Ambasa city is to prove herself and maybe earn her original team back. Because he did say that she had to work under him. I'm honestly wondering if Portia's changed, like personality wise, we haven't seen her for a while and being near so many toxic people like Teneson and Cortes has to do numbers on her mental health. And unlike Quincy who has friends now by his side, Portia doesn't. It'd be sick to see Portia crash out at Riffraff because of everything. Because the girl has been quite silent about her feelings about him. (Bro is said to be her father in some way, so I mean that, don't think anything otherwise.) Perhaps I'm just rambling a bit, but it's just some Food for Mind.

We've seen how strongly J is against the idea of killing, so what would she think of people like Mukuro or Maki, who have the taking of lives as an essential aspect of their talents? Of course, assume that for whatever reason she ends up finding out and/or sees past their "pretending to be Junko" and "Ultimate Child Caregiver" facades. If there's anyone else you're familiar with who would qualify for this category, feel free to include them too!
I find it kinda funny that you bring up J specifically, as if "strongly disliking murder" isn't by far the majority opinion xD But to actually answer the question... well she probably wouldn't like them very much. I'll go over everyone in canon DR who has a talent related to killing + the mms.
CWs: Murder, (implicit) terrorism, organized crime, abuse (Mukuro)
-Junko: J would despise her, no nuance. Not that I blame her.
-Mukuro: The angle that Mukuro was abused by her sister into helping her with all the Bullshit would garner a bit of sympathy from J, but she wouldn't find Mukuro's actions in the Tragedy justifiable at all, and wouldn't forgive Mukuro for them. I... forget what the actual situation was with Fenrir pre-Tragedy though, so I don't know how J would feel about that. Probably wouldn't like it either, though.
-Genocider Syo: J would obviously despise Syo, nothing to discuss there. The more interesting question is how she'd feel towards Toko. I don't think they'd get along for reasons unrelated to the murder (Toko can be pretty unpleasant and J doesn't take any shit, plus Toko's obsession with Byakuya might be a bit too close to Arturo's feelings towards J for comfort), but I do think J would ultimately feel sorry for her, and wouldn't blame her for Syo's actions. Maybe. I'm not too sure on this one.
-Fuyuhiko: Yakuzas are connected to murder, and Fuyuhiko killled Sato directly, so J probably wouldn't be too happy with him. Add to that that Fuyuhiko is loud and aggressive (mainly before his character arc), a kind of people J also dislikes in general, and J would probably just do her best to ignore him because of how much she'd dislike him.
-Peko: I don't remember if Peko's ever explicitly killed anyone, but she's still part of the yakuza. J would probably be disappointed to find that out, since I actually think they'd get along well if it weren't for the crime thing. Maybe J would try to get her to stop doing crime so they can hang out without issue, idk.
-Remnants of Despair: They were all brainwashed, right? I don't actually know how J would feel about it, given how horrible the shit they did was, but she could probably end up forgiving those she'd get along with without the brainwashing. You know, after the brainwashing fades, because she wouldn't get along with any "active" Remnant.
-Izuru: Didn't kill anyone before the Tragedy, so although I think he'd probably creep J out a bit, I don't think she'd hate him or anything. Until the Tragedy happens, and then she fucking hates the dude.
-Warriors of Hope: I have no fucking idea, sorry :p
-Ryoma: Given Ryoma only killed a bunch of people who had killed his entire family, I think J would be a bit more forgiving towards him, but would still ultimately dislike what he did. That said, unlike with a lot of the others, I think she could still be civil towards him, and get along with him well enough, even after knowing what he did.
-Korekiyo: If you grabbed everything that J could possibly hate, other than being a loudmouth, and you put it all in one person, you'd get Korekiyo. She'd fucking hate the guy.
-Maki: J would be devastated to know about her real talent, because I think they could get along very well if it weren't for the murder. I think J would just choose to distance herself from Maki in general after learning her talent, since I doubt she'd be able to justify talking to an active murderer like her.
-Tsumugi: J would hate her, no nuance. Of course.
Well, that was fun. I'm not too confident on some of these assessments, since I don't feel I have the clearest read on J's character, but oh well. Thanks for the ask!

I'm curious what you think of the late or Neo Platonists. You mentioned being disappointed by modern interpreters reading way too much into simple statements in Plato's works. In many ways, that was the default mode of operation for most Platonists throughout history. Reading elaborate esoteric meanings into the words of a man who claimed his teachings were freely and openly available to all.
Though, of course, their objective of theurgic ascension is a far cry from the goals of modern self-help gurus on social media. Do you find Theurgists as misguided as our modern grind-set influencers? Does their scholarly dedication and inquisitive nature make them more worthy inheritors of Socrates? Perhaps, even if they are not in agreement with Plato's record, the fact that they reached that point by rhetoric means they carried on the same work.
1. I need to preface this by saying that I am not qualified to answer this properly. My interest in plato is purely literary, and doesn't expand to neoplatonists or anything else.
2. I do have some beef with neoplatonists, as well as with how christianity deeply affected so much of the perception of plato. I see traces of it all the time.
3. I honestly have beef with so much of written philosophy it's not even funny. I can't stand to read most of it because of how upset i get. Plato writes wonderfully and my obsession with Alcibiades and Socrates is what attaches me to him. So I'm the wrong person to ask because most philosophers make me angry. And I even have beef with other types of analysis. I was insufferable when we did the iliad at school. I sent a letter to my teacher at the end of the school year detailing my problems with how we studied and interpreted the text.
4. I know next to nothing about the details of theurgy in neoplatonists. I also don't know anything about grind-set influencers. In my post I was talking about random dudes on twitter who think they're so wise and deep but they're just making up arbitrary stuff most of the time.
5. Inquisitive nature does make one similar to Socrates, and many many others. But in my opinion, the main thing that one needs to understand about Socrates is the erotic nature of philosophy. You have to be in love with it and long for it, the knowledge and truth that is his brand of wisdom. And that can be a very simple thing, again in my opinion. And a very personal thing too, that's not necessarily one for lengthy analysis. It is what it is, and it's about feeling it. Again, I haven't studied any of this in any capacity, I'm just reading stories.
6. I don't know if rhetoric is the right word to use here. Dialectic is what I'd use. Dialogue. Speaking to each other. That's what Socrates practiced. And I understand how this is superior to writing when it comes to philosophy. Speaking with someone is a living thing. It's invaluable for actually practicing your thoughts. I read philosophical texts and I get so upset i have to stop because the writer isn't there for me to argue with them. I do argue with them in my head, and that has its benefits.
That all said, I don't know if I can say who's a worthy inheritor, that's an extremely lengthy discussion that can go a billion ways. And who carried on the same work? I don't know. Whoever speaks with other people about philosophy and keeps the same energy of seeking the truth of the world and longing for it, I guess. That's also where Plato's philosophy differs fundamentally from others, in his treatment of what the ultimate truth is and what our stance towards it should be.
I feel like I'm digressing heavily, i wrote this while freezing at a bus stop. But these are my thoughts, please do not consult me for such matters, I am just here for my hot dead neighbor and his weird husband.

ᯓ★ I am a writer who writes on a whim so I may go on long periods where I do not do updates

ᯓ★ As stated, this user is a yumejoshi. Meaning I ship myself with a canon character and I do Oc x Canon character occasionally
ᯓ★ I am an artist too, so be aware that I occasionally post artworks + wips.
ᯓ★ I am demiromantic-asexual, meaning that I am heavily attached to my favourite character emotionally. As an author, I am not interested in smut nor am I a big fan of them. I may joke occasionally with vile language but I do not mean my words. They are empty and there just for the laughs. Otherwise, I value loving my comfort characters emotionally more than physically. ᯓ★ Non-share yumeshipper!! I'm sorry but I dont wanna see content of other people shipping with Sung Jinwoo, Aventurine, and Dan Heng. Current oomfs or moots are fine! But I prefer I don't interact with new people. this is purely just for my sake, you can ship yourself with them I just dont want to interact as much as I can<3
✦♡ -ˋˏ Inbox Rules ˎˊ-♡ ✦
ᯓ★ Please refrain from spamming my inbox in rapid succession. I welcome discussion and musings but I get overwhelmed when too many asks are being sent rapidly by the same person.
ᯓ★ Please do not rant in my inbox. While I want to comfort you it is best you seek out professional help or talk to people actually close to you. At the end of the day, we are still strangers and I am easily affected by negative emotions. I want to keep a good headspace as there is so much to deal with irl.
ᯓ★ Do not send me gore, sexual/r18 asks or anything else explicit. I beg you not to as I am easily triggered. I want to keep my page clean of those things even if I thirst sometimes for laughs.

ᯓ★ Please still have manners and be mindful before you interact.
ᯓ★ People who are just here to sexualise characters. I value emotional attachment the most when it comes to my comfort characters even if I stan them for their aesthetics. I may like them for character design but I will go out of my way to learn about them to build a deeper attachment. If you are just here just because they're hot and sexy and reduce them to just their bodies— Get out. I don't care if they're not real, Get Out.
ᯓ★ Please don't use "kys" jokes around me or anything suggesting self harm and su*cide. It's not funny actually lol call me sensitive idrc.
ᯓ★ Additionally please use tone indicators on me like //srs, //jk, //lh, those stuff. I'm inherently bad with social cues and I genuinely don't know the lines between a joke and something serious. So please and thank you do use tone indicators so I can tell.
ᯓ★ Please do not interact with me if your intention is to just promote yourself. I have encountered users who slide into my dms saying they are a fan when they are not supporting my works really and just promote themselves when they have more interactions than me. Please don't. It feels like you're just here for business. I'm not interested if that's all you're here for.

Hi Sam! Given you've shared your thoughts on Semple and Kapoor in the past, this discussion thread about the racism and antisemitism in Semple's behavior around this beef may be worth taking a look at (other posts are linked within the reblogs as well that are worth checking out, I think) https://www.tumblr.com/vaspider/726498218572234752/talkingattumble-personally-i-wouldnt-buy-his
Hope you're having a lovely week and staying relatively cool 😎
Hyperlink for folks here.
I have seen a lot of discussion in that vein -- I haven't read the links in-depth, but one reason I started talking about how much I don't like the Semple-Kapoor meme on the whole is that it did come across as a weird "evil brown guy" narrative. I haven't spoken much about that angle because I didn't feel fully qualified, but it's been a point of discomfort in an overall uncomfortable story. My initial take on it was that the story was too pat, and Kapoor, as someone who has played provocateur in the past, may in fact have been masterminding a piece of performance art. I never really understood the whole "do x to the bean" meme, it didn't seem especially funny to me, but tastes vary.
I started doing something where, every time the meme showed up on my dash or I was tagged in it, I would post a work of art by a woman artist. This is a beef between two men who have the full support of the art establishment behind them, while women artists are still drastically under-represented in the fine arts world. It's remarkably hard to find established or historical women artists beyond the handful of big ones like Georgia O'Keefe and Frida Kahlo.
Anyway, whatever the truth behind the Semple-Kapoor beef is, I do think that there is a narrative, intentional or unintentional, that unfairly characterizes Kapoor as a wholesale villain while putting Semple on a pedestal as a hero of the masses.
And given I'm opening my own mouth about it, here's the tax: In Sickness And In Health by Jewish trans artist Yishay Garbasz. You can read more about her work here.

[ID: An art installation in the corner of a gallery, featuring a mattress with a checkered sheet on it and a bloodstain projected onto the sheet. There are several water bottles at the foot of the bed; medical documents and pills sit near the head of the bed. The mattress is surrounded by curls of razorwire, with more water bottles and other objects caught up in the wire.]

PREVIEW IS RAISING PAINFUL FAMILY ISSUES
Maybe the most hard to write analysis, because I totally understand topics like divorced parents, hardworking mother, problematic older brother and all those psychological little things someone probably didn't even notice. Day's family is like trigger bingo for me and that's... interesting.
1. Let's start with the most controversial part.

Day and Mhok will come back home, I guess MUCH later than they planned and also with bad news about Day's eyes condition. Many people keep writing about Day's mother being too harsh, that she's always busy making money and can't understand how much Mhok loves Day.
You can see that in this scene every character has tears in their eyes. They all have their own truth as well.
Day loves Mhok and wants to be more independent and he's right.
Mhok loves Day and want to take care of him and he's right.
Day's mother loves Day and want him to not be hurt and she's right.
That's why this scene is so heartbreaking.
We already know about Mhok and Day's love, but look at Day's mother perspective! She was officially married, gave birth to two boys and still that wasn't enough for that man not to leave her for another woman letting her and her sons craving for food. Now you want this woman to accept that her completely blind younger son has a romantic relationship with a man she barely knows. Not even mentioning Mhok's background and financial status. For her the word "love" will never ever be enough to agree with this whole situation.

So Mhok wants to quite (and that is also right), Day can't bare the thought of loosing him even for a day now that he knows how it feels to love and be loved. P'MHOK PROMISED HE WON'T LET GO OFF OF DAY'S HAND will think Day of course. However things has already changed and Mhok will be standing outside the door:

Mhok was allowed to join this family sometimes on definite terms. Day's mother already told him that there're only three of them and those who breakes this rule is not welcomed anymore.
And for those who thinks Day and Mhok is gonna break up. Nah, not these guys. They'll be together next episode.
2. Begin again

I really appreciate the idea of giving Mhok a chance to change his life completely. When talking about Last Twilight being a series that gives hope we need to mention that no person is qualified for only one job. No matter how old are you, no matter what you studied in the uni, you can find something new you really like to do and make it your job.
Btw, could you think of that Mhok who aggressively fixed a chair becoming a chef?! The best plot twist ever haha
Also need to mention the bag in Day's hand. I have a strong feeling that Day can leave home after arguing with his mother (not blame both of them actually).
3. Love love love
It's not Last Twilight if we don't have some funny and bright scenes after some angst like rainbow after the rain.

They're in love, your honor!
It's pretty interesting that Day is painting something after meeting his father (who's an artist). Did you know that visually impaired people can be painters too?

This scene also gave us a lot of BTS shots, so we can assume that Night and Phojai will be somehow there with Day and Mhok, yay!

I like her Kiss t-shirt, she's a badass!
4. Another scene?
Now I want to tell you something about the scene we didn't see in a preview, but already have some hints for it.

One of the most beautiful picture in the whole series. Do you remember the bag? It's here, right beside Day!

I can't show everything with screenshots (and too lazy to make gifs so really appreciate everyone who makes it), but Mhok looks kinda sad listening to Day in this scene. Maybe Day needs to go back home? Oh maybe they just discussing some serious things? Who knows!
And that's all for this episode 10.
I don't like the idea of having ep 11 curse after having already like four or even more heart wrenching episodes... However we still didn't see that crying Mhok from the trailer. And moreover there's another hint for something terrifying, we just don't know yet if it's future or past. I don't think I'm ready for this sh*t if it's gonna happen later. Once I've noticed it I can't stop thinking of this moment and also can't make myself to discuss it. Let's just trust in P'Aof. And prepare some money for going to Thailand.

Thank you for reading!

are Lex and Sarah actually going to have The Talk she mentioned in this (https://www.tumblr.com/befuddled-calico-whump/734559110463389696/feel-totally-free-to-ignore-this-butive-been)? and if yes, how would it go?
previous part
cw: alcoholism (discussed), past trauma/implied noncon (discussed), adult language
•°•°•
Lex was silent as Sarah made breakfast, eyes firmly locked on the table. It was almost noon when she'd finally made it downstairs; staying awake until who-knew-when to wait up for the assassin had really taken a toll on her sleep schedule. Not that she'd be able to fall asleep anyway without the confirmation he was back safe and sound.
Akeela and Hugo had already eaten and were working on scouring some new leads---well, Hugo was scouring leads while Akeela antagonized him---and Rosie, nocturnal as ever, would probably be in bed until mid afternoon. Which meant it was just her an Lex for the morning meal.
Now that she thought about it, this might've been the first time she'd seen him sitting at the table at all.
Was it because of last night? Did he even remember last night? Her promise to talk in the morning? If that's what he was hanging around for, she didn't know how to proceed. It was good, good he wanted to talk, to address the drinking problem no one wanted to acknowledge, but she wasn't qualified for this kind of thing. She didn't want to screw up; give him some kind of fucked-up advice that would only make everything worse for him.
At the same time, it felt like he was finally relaxing around her. He'd let her touch him last night. Hug him. Hell if she hadn't wanted to do that a hundred times in the past.
From you, it's okay.
His heart had beat so fast when she wrapped her arms around him, and even as attuned as she was to listening, Sarah still couldn't tell if it was anxiety at being touched, or... Or something else.
She sighed, turning off the stove and scraping scrambled eggs from frying pan to paper plate. It wasn't allowed to be something else. They didn't have time for something else, not now, and she couldn't waste energy on hopeful nothings when she had a team to keep alive.
Besides, there was a bigger elephant in the room that needed to be addressed.
"So," she began as she set a plate in front of Lex. "You still wanna talk?"
He didn't make a move on the eggs. She didn't even know if he liked scrambled eggs, but they were cheap, and quick, and easy, and he needed to eat something.
"I..." he swallowed, picking up a fork, poking at the food, not taking a bite. "Yeah. Think I do."
"Okay." Shit. Should she sit down? Stay standing? What was the best way to make this feel less awkward, less like an accusation or a lecture? She settled for leaning against the back of a chair, right across from him.
"So." She bit her lip. "Drinking."
Fuck, she was already blowing it. What would happen if she said something wrong enough? Would he run away? Would he ever come back?
"It's funny," Lex said, stirring the eggs, not looking up. "I keep thinking this conversation would be easier if I was drunk."
Sarah nodded. "I guess they usually are. Or, I mean, they seem easier. But all it really does is create distance, y'know? Everything is still just as hard when that distance fades away."
"I know."
He fidgeted with the fork, she fidgeted with her glasses. Neither of them seemed to know what to say next.
"I know it's stupid," Lex said at last. "And dangerous."
"Yeah. It is."
"And... And it's selfish. Risking your team like that."
"That's not..." Sarah sighed, tucking a wayward strand of hair behind her ear. "You're on my team, Lex. Okay? I know it can be a risk to the rest of us if you're careless on your way home, but right now I'm just worried about you."
"Why?"
"I just said---"
"I've been watching my own back for years, Spyglass. I don't need someone to worry about me."
Spyglass. Ouch. Maybe she'd been wrong about him getting more comfortable around her. Maybe last night had been a fluke.
"Okay," Sarah said. "You don't need it. But don't you want it? Don't you want to be able to rest easy, knowing we'll watch out for you?"
"I can still rest easy---"
"Without drinking yourself stupid," she muttered, and instantly regretted it. This was it, this was the fuckup that would send him running. "Lex..."
"No." The fork was clenched in his fist now. "You're right. I can't."
"Why not?" It wasn't an accusation or a demand, just a simple question, soft words.
He was silent, but she didn't push. Last night, he seemed like he needed to get this out. If that need was still in there, if she was the person he wanted to tell, he'd speak in his own time.
His posture seemed casual enough, hunched over the eggs that were probably cold by now, but even without her sight abilities, she could tell his body was rigid.
"The Tower fucks you up," he said at last, and it was almost a whisper. Sarah sharpened her hearing, just enough that she wouldn't miss a word.
"It's... I was always alone. Unless, uh, unless they were hurting me." He swallowed, and she watched his throat bob up and down, her hands tight around the back of the chair.
"It was the same fucking room for months. Always dark. And whenever they did bring me out, they'd usually blindfold me. So every time I close my eyes, I... It's like I might be back there. Like my body's too stupid to tell the difference if my eyes can't prove it wrong. Doesn't matter where I am. Bed. Floor. Some fucking alley. The only nights I don't wake up in a panic are the nights I'm too drunk to."
Okay, she wanted to say, we'll find a solution. We'll play music for you all night or give you a nightlight. But she could tell he wasn't done talking. It was good he was talking, but she was afraid of what he might say next. Which was dumb. Just because she didn't know about it, just because he'd never told her, didn't make what he'd gone through any less real.
"So that's why," Lex continued. "I couldn't even fucking do anything about it. When they hurt me, I mean. I tried once. Got so mad I started a fire, even with the null cuffs on, but the guards, they... Um, they made me regret it." His voice broke, but he didn't stop talking. Sarah didn't know if he could, now that the dam had been opened.
"I'd never know what was going to happen. Uriah was bad, but it was worse just being in the dark, waiting to see if someone would come hurt you that day. They'd beat me more than anything else, but there were worse things. Visitors. Rentals."
Sarah didn't know what rentals meant, but the way he said it implied enough. She was too aware of her breathing, every inhale small and silent to make room for his words.
"Some people got more creative with how they'd cause pain. Most weren't, but it didn't matter. Still hurt. One time, more than one time, a-a bunch of the guards, they just held me down and... and you know. Used me."
She'd already suspected as much, but his words still hit her like a ton of ice. A tremor went through Lex's shoulders as his chest hitched, and the little gasp he let out twisted in her stomach. His hand went to his face, thumb and forefinger rubbing at his eyes. Sarah waited for the hand to come down---for him to be able to see---before she finally moved, circling the table to stand beside him.
She half-extended a hand towards him, movement slow and cautious. "Is it okay if I..?"
"N-not right now," he said, his voice thick, and Sarah nodded. She couldn't say she didn't get it, especially right now. Instead of moving closer, she dropped to her knees next to him, resting her arms and chin on the table.
"Fuck," he choked out. "I'm sorry. Shouldn't just drop this bullshit on you."
"It's okay," she assured him. "I want to listen. If this makes you feel better... Does it?"
"I don't know. Doesn't make me feel worse." He tipped his head back, staring blankly at the ceiling. Sarah pretended not to notice that his cheeks were wet.
"That's why."
She laced her fingers together, staring at her nails. "Is there anything I can do?"
"Doubt it. Drinking is the only thing that works."
She sighed. "Lex, that's not... It's not good for you." Lamest response ever, but what else could she say? How could she possibly find an answer that was good enough for this moment? "There has to be another way."
"What happens if there isn't? Do..." His voice softened, dropping to a whisper again. "Do you want me to leave?"
It took a lot of effort to keep her hands on the table, to stop herself for reaching out to him. "No. No, not at all." Could she ever sleep again if he did? If he disappeared, if she had no idea he was safe? If he was even alive?
"I need you to stay," she said.
"To fight for the team." He nodded.
"No---yes, but that's not why." It would rip her heart out. "I kinda like having you around, you know," she said, trying to lighten her tone.
"Then..." Lex sighed, dropping his head again. "What ideas do you have? To help? I'll... I'll give them a try."
Sarah nodded. "Have you ever tried using your other senses? Smell? Hearing?"
"Listening to you right now, aren't I?" he said, but it almost sounded like a joke. She cracked a smile.
"You know what I mean."
"I haven't."
"We can try lighting a scented candle in your room. Or playing soft music through the night. Do you think that might help?"
"Worth a shot." He lifted his head, finally looking her direction, his violet eyes apologetic. She'd always been fascinated with his eyes. Their vivid shade of purple almost exactly matched the little wildflowers painted all over her childhood bedroom; a color she used to associate with a soft bed. Nostalgia.
"Sarah... Thanks. For putting up with me."
She rested her cheek on her hands, looking up at him with a soft smile. "Aw, come on, it's not nearly as awful as you make it sound. Maybe I like putting up with you."
Lex cracked a small smile. "Yeah?"
"Yeah." She pushed to her feet, careful to move slow and smooth, even though her legs were half asleep from crouching. "And if you ever want to talk... About anything, really. Spaceships, fine dining, dinosaurs, how much Uriah sucks... I'll be here. I want to listen."
Lex nodded, taking a forkful of cold eggs. "I could probably make time for spaceships."
Sarah gave him a smile, then moved back to the kitchen counter, busying her hands with washing the frying pan. His time spent in the Tower was nothing short of horrifying, but if he wanted to talk about it, if he needed to talk about it, she wouldn't stop him. She just hoped she could find the right words when the time came.
And she hoped her idea worked, that he wouldn't need the alcohol, that he could sleep and not wake up in terror. Not for the team's sake, or her own, but because she'd spoken the truth the night before.
She really did care about him.

Random thoughts regarding different fandoms:
(I've seen/read these, I just don't engage with the fandoms that much. These are just thoughts based on what I have seen of the fandoms.).
Death Note: Endless memes. Constant poking fun at all the overthinking going on. Putting these dramatic characters in goofy scenes about cake and friendship. The jokes never get old for me. I don't see much discourse, maybe an occasional conversation about whether or not Kira was right. 😆
ATLA: Zuko getting teased. Kataang and Zutara battling it out while Zukka laughs and slowly rises higher, taking more and more people as it goes. I'm not that interested in the ships, but Sokka ships are the best. NATLA wins the "not as bad as you could've been award" and "the effects were decent". Lots of fun analysation.
Percy Jackson: I feel Nico is a fan favourite. The main discourse I've seen for the fandom as a whole is whether or not Annabeth treats Percy well and whether or not Piper is annoying. A lot of people compare Percy Jackson and Harry Potter (the characters), and those who have read both seem to agree Percy is better. Like ATLA, there's a new live-action series that is a mixed bag, but much better than the old, horrible live-action movie (and sequel) in the past.
Zelda: DOWN WITH KOROKS vs STOP KOROK ABUSE. Everyone loves Sidon senpai. Glory to Master KOHGA. Most of the stuff I see right now is BotW/TotK related, but there's still some good stuff for other games, as well as the AUs people do with different Links meeting. Midna is the best sidekick.
Hazbin Hotel: I'm wary since there's LOOOOTS of discourse in this one. The fans can be pretty funny, though. I love the song edits and that there's a whole ship tag for Vox's unrequited obsession with Alastor. I also like watching people analyse the characters and writing.
Helluva Boss: Well...I once again like watching people discuss the writing. But I am hesitant to engage with any fans because I have a weird relationship with this show and don't think I really qualify as a fan. 😅 I watch it because it's so bizarre to me I can't look away. One time I gave characters different colour schemes for fun, and I got a bunch of annoyed asks from someone taking it too seriously. 😆
She-Ra: Catra Applesauce Meowmeow is a poor little meowmeow. Cat. I like the cat memes. I also love the comparisons between Scorpia and Kronk. Entrapdak is probably one of the better ships, yet has haters for some reason. The accusations have the same vibes as Beauty and the Beast accusations.
Owl House: Tons of Lumity. Personally, I'm more invested in Eda and her relationships with the other characters. Belos and Hunter get compared to Ozai and Zuko. Hunter is very popular. Everyone side eyes Disney for what they did. HOOTY SUPREMACY HOOT HOOT.
Miraculous: The Adrien vs Marinette discourse makes my brain hurt, but I'm glad we all pretty much agree Astruc does everyone dirty. Canon? What's canon? Usually I like and try to follow canon. Not here. Who tries to follow canon in Miraculous? The fans write the show better than he does. Love all the fan comics I see for this show. Chloe could've been more interesting. We all make fun of Smooth-Brain Gabe. We came for the Love Square and then started to hate it. Then Emonette and Emodrien came and reignited our interest.
