OMG EGO HAVE YOU SEEN THE BOOK 7 CATER CARD YET
80s britpunk Cater is such an incredible direction to take. his Sid Vicious jacket! his little british police cap! I wouldn't have anticipated that going full-on Sex Pistols would be his alternate self but it is SO fitting actually. 😭
(also th-the crown symbol?! the gavel?! is housewarden Cater real because I will TRANSCEND --)
#twisted wonderland#twisted wonderland spoilers#twisted wonderland episode 7 spoilers#twisted wonderland book 7 spoilers#twisted wonderland episode 7 part 12 spoilers#twisted wonderland book 7 part 12 spoilers#oh so we're just getting the heartsboys immediately huh#I AM NOT COMPLAINING NO SIR#god though. i haven't recovered from leona yet and already they're throwing this at us#c8ter the sk8ter boi#cannot express how much british punk cater is such a chef's-kiss concept though 🤌🤌🤌#like. okay. i'm gonna get into some personal character interpretation here so disclaimer that these are just my own ~opinions~ etc#but i read cater as being not so much secretly angsty as like...secretly just kinda jaded?#like i think him being pretty upbeat and cheery in general is genuine (or at least mostly genuine)#but he's also very aware of how people see him and he plays into that#like his personality isn't FAKE but he's definitely playing parts of it up#and trying to maintain a certain image that he thinks is expected of him#so expressing that as 'he's a punk undercover as a prep' is actually kinda perfect in my mind#i mean i could be entirely missing the mark here and we'll get something totally different#(in like. a couple of weeks or so. what the HECK twst)#buuuuut yeah punk cater is such a great concept to me and i am very excited to meet him!!!!#oh also hi tamashina-mina deuce you're here too i guess#alas we have run out of time so we'll have to catch up later

Of note in "Bertie Changes His Mind"- just noticed that for all Jeeves's expertise in ~the psychology of the individual~, he actually displays a failure of emotional intelligence at the beginning of the story. He's noticed that Bertie has been moody for the past few days, but attributes it to his having been sick lately, and is surprised by what he thinks is a sudden outburst. He evidently failed to notice any signs of sadness or loneliness building up to it, despite a later scene where he says Bertie's face is easy to read (in this scene Bertie's emotions are intense and pretty easily inferable from context clues, which probably helped).
I feel like this indicates that Jeeves might have trouble reading people's subtler emotions. I doubt he'd be able to derive someone's entire mental state from a minute eyebrow twitch the way that Bertie can. This would support my general theory that Jeeves uses his study of psychology as a crutch to compensate for poor social skills-- he's carefully observed and memorized the way people who are feeling a certain way will react to different stimuli, but he has to know how they're feeling first. Which might be troublesome for him, and somewhere where it would be interesting to see him and Bertie teaming up.
#it's been a while since i've posted any “jeeves is autistic” content#i need to remedy this#reverse!au is generally not my thing#but if you're into it there could be something interesting in the idea of reverse!bertie being a terrible valet in most ways#but always being able to tell when jeeves is sad and working really hard to cheer him up#which some might say makes him a good valet after all#i might be interested in it if that were the angle#//#reginald jeeves#jeeves and wooster#jeeves books#bertie changes his mind#carry on jeeves

Inside Your Mind - word count: 708 - Regulus Black + James Potter
Regulus Black sat alone in the dimly lit library of Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place. The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows across the cracked spines of ancient tomes. His fingers rested on the pages of a book he wasn’t reading, his gaze unfocused. He was lost—not just in the room, but within himself.
His thoughts circled like vultures, picking apart every shred of confidence he’d ever had. You’re a coward, Regulus, the voice in his head whispered. You followed him because it was easier than standing against him. You let the Dark Mark brand you like cattle because you were too weak to say no.
The self-loathing grew unbearable. He stood abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. His breathing grew ragged as frustration boiled over. Grabbing the nearest book, he hurled it across the room. The heavy tome struck the wall with a thud, dislodging a shower of dust. But it wasn’t enough. He began pulling books off the shelves, one after the other, letting them fall in chaotic heaps around him.
Why did you even bother trying? he thought bitterly. The library descended into chaos, and still, the storm inside him raged on.
A loud crash echoed as a heavy bookstand toppled over, spilling its contents. Regulus froze, his chest heaving. The destruction around him mirrored the turmoil within, but it didn’t bring relief. It only made the silence heavier.
A creak in the floorboards broke through his spiraling thoughts. He didn’t bother looking up. Probably Kreacher, come to scold him for the mess.
But the voice that followed wasn’t Kreacher’s.
“Bloody hell, Reg, what’s all this?”
Regulus turned sharply, startled. James Potter stood in the doorway, his hair as messy as ever, glasses slightly askew. His expression was a mix of concern and disbelief as he took in the chaotic scene. He stepped inside, carefully avoiding the scattered books.
“What are you doing here?” Regulus snapped, his voice hoarse and sharp, like a frayed wire.
James raised his hands in mock surrender. “Easy there. Sirius sent me. Said you’d probably try to hex him if he showed up himself, but he’s worried about you. We all are.”
“I don’t need—”
“Yeah, yeah, you don’t need help,” James interrupted, stepping closer. His tone was light, but his eyes were serious. “But maybe you need someone to listen. Or at least someone to stop you from destroying the entire library.”
Regulus looked away, his shoulders tense. James crouched down, picking up a book and placing it gently back on the shelf. He didn’t say anything for a while, just worked methodically, restoring a semblance of order.
The silence between them wasn’t oppressive. James had a way of filling a room without saying a word, his presence a steadying force.
“You don’t have to do this,” Regulus murmured after a long moment. “You don’t have to pretend I’m worth saving.”
James paused, looking over his shoulder. “Who said anything about pretending?”
Regulus’ throat tightened. “I’ve done things, James. Things you can’t imagine. I’ve… I’ve hurt people. How do you come back from that?”
James stood and walked over to him, his hazel eyes steady and unflinching. “One step at a time. You don’t have to have all the answers right now. Hell, you don’t have to have any of them. But you’re trying, Reg. That’s what matters.”
“What if it’s not enough?” Regulus whispered, the question breaking free before he could stop it.
James didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he stepped closer and, in one swift motion, pulled Regulus into a firm hug. Regulus stiffened, his arms pinned awkwardly to his sides.
“Let go,” Regulus muttered, trying to twist free. “James—”
“Not a chance,” James said, his grip unwavering. “You’re not going to fight your way out of this one, mate. Just breathe.”
Regulus squirmed, his face burning with indignation, but James held fast. Gradually, the fight drained out of him, and his rigid posture softened. His breathing slowed as he leaned, almost imperceptibly, into the embrace.
“You’re not alone,” James said quietly, his voice steady and sure. “And I’m not letting go until you believe that.”
Regulus closed his eyes, the tension in his chest easing as he allowed himself, just for a moment, to believe him.
#marauders#james potter#regulus black#jegulus#starchaser#sunseeker#sunwater#mmm ill write something better#microfic#i have written so many different versions of the inner turmoil regulus has within his mind#if you listen to the song i linked#i mostly used just "You live inside your head withi it all. you're pulling down the books to the floor#and i imagine it in kind of a slow motion movement

Very important conferences.
#witch hat tag#orufrey#some real serious discussions goin on in this atelier today. dont u doubt it.#agott is the only one who has ever thought about this because she is a 12 year old lesbian and UMM..FRIEND? LIKE FRIEND? IS THAT..LEGAL???#this is all i drew today because silly things like this take hours lol. at least it's practice for poses -_-#i got the pattern of the girls' dresses wrong but i couldn't be bothered to change halfway through.#don't worry if you're like what is the naakiwan downs. is that name even mentioned in the main manga#ANYWAY i KEEP thinking about what if it's actually banned for professors and watchful eyes to date like that would make a lot of sense.#like maybe it should be banned. SO??? are they just low-key Aware of what the deal is and they're just Putting their feelings aside#until graduation??? take my tassel as an unspoken reminder of how i feel?? living together trial period?? this feels like it's truly it#When we're free to be together........ Sensei loves homophobia parallels without there actually being homophobia#Let's invent reasons why men cant be together. Ummm well whatever. i'm screaming in my head but it's fine.#this will probably form the theme of my orufrey for a while. i've thought of this before but for some reason today it's big for me.#i guess the tassels might not specifically be a part of that since they exchanged them before tower of books#and qifrey made his mysterious decision to be a teacher after that and..well whatever. I need more of backstory and just..everything?#But i also don't mind when vinanna interrupts my wishes with just a chapter of just being really dreamy? I love witch hat?

and like. normally i think king adaptations are the horror movies most suited for fIanagan's style- i don't personally like him but he really Gets king so would be happy to see him get a handful of those properties, and wow 'carrie' is not one of them. a carrie adaptation is successful if it leaves its audience feeling very complicit and very gross, yeah let's give it to the guy who's most bent on saccharine christian monologues
#like giving him the dark tower makes sense to me#i'd love to see each book go to a different director with their own take on king but his directing style i think would really work#for something like drawing of the three#i don't even mind that they're giving him another exorcist spinoff/remake for that same reason#like it sucks but to be fair it is his schtick#that said? those are like. the ONLY two properties he should be getting rn#to double down on the thing i said about vhs- if you're famous enough that you're being offered every single horror property#it becomes your job to pass some of those bucks on to new people who might not have a chance otherwise#i think maybe you become the stephen king bad guy you're always harping on about if you don't#stephen king

you know if we do accept the last epilogue-esque sequence as a sort of dream/wish of ted's and therefore not necessarily canon, very funny if we then simply go "yeah, trent's book is called 'the lasso way' actually. he didn't change that. nope."
#listen on one hand#i think that like#i don't think ted actually changed trent's mind about the title#i think trent changed it because ted asked him to#and like that's especially interesting bc he even made a point of being like#'tell me if you disagree with anything and i'll tell you why you're wrong'#but he respects ted; more than that he likes him and he wants him to like the book--like him#anyone else and trent would have told them to fuck off but ted? ted asking him to change the title? yeah#i think he didn't agree with 'it not being about him'--and not bc of any feelings he may have for ted--but if we accept that him changing#the title is canon then like. he did it because ted asked. nothing more nothing less#maybe he felt he owed it to ted as the subject of the book; maybe he just respected him too much not to#maybe it's partially bc of his feelings; maybe it's because he just couldn't say no to ted#but it's ultimately just. because ted asked him.#and trent respects him; trusts him; cares about him#and that's pretty heartwrenching#but like on the other hand if we say 'no that was ted's wishufl thinking trent definitely went 'sorry ted it's called the lasso way''#also like.... him being like. like quietly not changing it and if ted said something him just. being like#ted. i respect you. i care about you. i trust you. but with all due respect absolutely not#yes it isn't ONLY about you but YOU made this happen. YOU are special and YOU have a place here whether you can stay forever or not#yes it's about the team and the coaches yes you aren't a one man band but ted. TED. you touched lives. you changed lives. and that was YOU.#that was you and your philosophy and your attitude.#you made richmond what it is today. yes the team deserve credit too for the kind of bond they have now but YOU facilitated that#none of the coaches currently here woudl be coaches if not for you. the diamond dogs wouldn't exist. literally every single one#of our friends--OUR friends--wouldn't be where they are and probably wouldn't be as happy#you got through to people over and over again who were hurting and lashing out. to rebecca. to roy. to jamie. to nate. to me.#and you can be humble but there's being humble and there's acting like you don't matter to any of us like you didn't have an impact#like you can just leave without a trace. we don't blame you for leaving--i especially don't--but acting like we won't miss you and like#your time with all of us--our time--meant nothing is more insulting than it is humble because we /love you/#and yes. it was the goddamn lasso way that built this place#this community.

so the 'Qimir/the Stranger is actually [ insert high republic character here ]' theories have started to escalate, Imri was one thing, today I saw someone suggest the Stranger is Cohmac and I laughed out loud.
But also sure. The Stranger is Cohmac. XD Why tf not. Except for all the, you know, 'humans don't live that long' and 'their descriptions and official character art do not match Manny Jacinto at all' 'it doesn't actually make sense' but people keep countering that with 'energy transfer' so I guess Qimir really could be anybody.
Wouldn't it be fucking hilarious if it was Azlin Rell. Fucking Azlin. That would be SO funny if he energy-transferred himself into Qimir to live another hundred extra years, to continue being the worst. It would be so funny. Absolutely no one else would find it funny but I would personally find it absolutely hilarious if 'scenic route guy' is Qimir
#this is a very serious theory obviously#no jk but also qimir is azlin he's just taking the ultimate scenic route to whatever goal he has#star wars#the acolyte#the high republic#path of deceit#this fucking guy#(spoilers for phase 2 stop reading)#for non-book readers: i call him scenic route guy because basically the plot of the flashback happens#but long horrible story short ends poorly for the Jedi instead of the cult#*horrible as in for the characters the book itself is a banger#and he is tasked with investigating their disappearances - finds the bodies....and then takes three full more books to tell anybody about i#so you're just reading like 'wtf where is this guy why has no one accused the path of fucking murder yet'#anyway justice for kevmo and zallah sorry it took five business months to report your murders#fucking azlin#and he was freaking out my boy reath at the end of defy the storm!#i'm clearly not serious but also this would be funny and is the only 'X high republic character is Qimir' theory i will accept#evidence has already used the dark side to extend his life clearly wants freedom (kind of a loner) uhh thats it#(ok and i know that part of it is the whole theme of a lack of communication in that early part of thr#still it takes a bananas amount of time when he seems to find their bodies fairly quickly after they go missing)#he regains his mind and figures out energy transfer and ??? idk decides to head off the cult this time#before they can unleash horrifying monsters to drive him mad?#no this obviously is just silly but so is 'the stranger is cohmac' i don't even like cohmac but WHAT are you talking about XD deceased

oh my god ! haha . anyway a bit buzzed perhaps. anyway here's what happened on the date
#at some point i took the earrings off. the metal clanging was screaming their name too loud and it#was 6 knives to the throat and he confirmed it so. here's the kicker. you can be taught a lot and you can have their hands on your thighs#and you can kiss them but even if they pray even if they tell you about the bible looking into you like really they lost what they believed#in a pennsylvania countryside catholic schools with a protestant family since joining the london school of economics#even if they pray for you to stay the whole way even though their hair was softer than hers you think of her and he thinks of someone else#and be tells you none of it will make sense. they smile and they say what a shame you might miss the train but they hold onto you#the entirety of you - like a religion or a polite insistence or something to keep.#you learned they were used to losing everyone they felt bound to love. they said they got really good at letting go. you were told#you think he's being epistemologically#irresponsible and he tells you he carries a massive task. he tells you the responsibility is monumental#and he feels responsible for defining responsibility. he shows you songs and his poetry. my eyes feel on fire.#she doesnt know this. this is marylebone. the next station is edgeware road. everyone here looks happy and high and clear of the doors.#he says tell me when you get to the station and very especially tell me if you don't. the next station is paddington. please mind the gap#between the train and the platform. you say this to him. he says i minds the gap between you and i. i mind it so much that i need you to#come back. he says this because you kissed him briefly but you kissed him well. she says you're a good kisser but he says you have him#stunned. he asks you who decides the truth. he tells you you decide the truth without his mouth. you're fast enough to make it there before#the wheels do. this world is lit by glass and light and people with a pact to fall in love with the abstractions more than each other.#he tells you to be committed to your various intangible loves more than anyone. you both have to be. they love each other anyway.#i was supposed to find a persian poetry book with her on our fourth date except she was hours late. i found it with him. he didnt give up#he should be perfect and i should really like him.

Physically fighting the urge to make an edit of Eduard Limonov and Iosif Brodskij to Girl, so confusing
#NOT THE REMIX because we don't know Iosif Brodskij's thougths on Limonov#but but but hear me out it fits so uncannily#of course I haven't seen the show so I don't know what there will be in the show but based on what we have in the book#just put dissident russian instead of girl and you're there#their whole ambivalent relationship in which you don't understand if Brodskij wants to help Limonov in New York or not#and Limonov hating Brodskij specifically because he is more successful than him and he WANTS to he him#them eaiting at the russian restaurant with Tanja#AND IT FELT AWKWARD#'people say we're alike' just because their both poeats and russian dissidents#(also people=The Liberman)#'We talk about making music but I don't know if you're honest' real when Limonov doesn't even understand#if Brodskij wants to help him or just wants to fuck his wife#'can't tell if you wanna see me falling over and failing' IS RIGHT THERE when Brodskij stuck Limonov in the#small russian newspaper I forgot the naaaamd#'you're all about writing poems/but I'm about throwing parties' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#LIMONOV TRYING TO PARTY AND FUCKING HIS WAY UP WHILE BRODSKIJ CLOSED HINSELF IN ACADEMIA#'one day we might make some music/the internet (jet set) would go crazy'#and then they didn't#what music could have they even done#I don't know but I am mad I never got to find out#limonov#thank God they didn't work it out on the remix Limonov could have straight up attempt to murder Brodskij#So cool when your mind is plagued by 28273726 edits to make for a tv show that hasn't come out yet

I think abt Eirnin swearing vengeance on whoever put him in a mind flayer pod, taking every step with investigation and insight trying to find out just Who Done It on him. Spending the first two chapters going on and on about how he's gonna put whoever put him in pod into the ground. Making it his goal right next to getting the tadpoles out. How important it is to him this person dies.
Then finding out it's not just anybody who did in him, it's his sister. The only family he recalls. His sister, born of incest and gore, raised to believe she's nothing more than her service to Bhall, to her brother, the chosen. No time of her own to pursue love, hunts and see nature. How all that rage comes tumbling down in seconds. How he stays his hand from the one he wanted to feel it's sting the most.
#🏹 [ BACKGROUND ] - HEADCANONS#|| i think abt that book where durge writes abt her A LOT#in my mind it's like thor and loki on the elevator in Ragnarok#'Orin I thought the world of you'#'I thought we were gonna be ruling together side by side but at the end of the day you're you and I'm me.'#'Maybe there's still good in you but let's be honest. our paths diverged long ago.'#if HE could surpass his dark urges IK she could've......if only she had the same friends and tools and resources for healing......#HE WOULD WANT HIS SISTER TO GET BETTER!!!!

Warning- this is a very petty post, but I think I'm entitled to at least one petty, pissed-off reaction every time I finish a classic novel that hit harder than I expected so take this as my quota for the year.
Also spoiler warning for a book that came out over a century ago but still, I didn't know the plot going in so don't want to ruin it for anyone else, if you haven't read it shut your eyes. (Also Local Tumblr User Going Wild Over Book Published a Hundred Years Ago That Everybody Else Already Read should probably be categorised as akey part of indigenous tumblr culture at this point).
Anyway I just finished the War of the Worlds and in between studying I've thinking about Themes and Motifs as you do, and idly looking for further analysis. I then accidentally ran into an article called 'A Quiet Place II Succeeds Where the War of the Worlds Failed' and:
Now I haven't seen any of the Quiet Place films, this is not a rant against them and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But re: the ending of The War of the Worlds, I have to ask, did this guy somehow miss, uh, the entire point of the book or am I just utterly insane?
#You're right it's not very satisfying for humanity that the invaders are foiled by a bacteria and not human action! Maybe that's the point!#Maybe it's supposed to be FRIGHTENING and make you ask questions about what humans will do under extreme stress#Not be a morally uplifting tale about Humanity Heroically Defeating the Martians in a Glorious Hollywood Ending#Maybe it's MEANT to be unsatisfying because this is not a straightforward fairytale#I mean I've only read it once and don't know much about Wells' work so I might have misunderstood the point of the book too#But at places it is a very pessimistic view of the human condition and that's partly WHY IT'S SO POWERFUL#That doesn't mean there aren't moments of individual acts of heroism (the Thunderchild for example)#But the question is not just 'how will humanity beat the Martians and prove that we're still the masters of the universe'#Rather 'a) why is humanity so confident that it's ultimately in control of its own destiny#And b) here's lots of scenes of societal collapse and of people pushed to the brink and what would YOU do in those circumstances?#Would YOU feel remorse about silencing the curate even if it did lead to his death?#What if it rather than a foolish adult it had been a small child?#And even if they were weak did they DESERVE it? Yes it might have been necessary but should it be policy going forward?#Would you also be attracted briefly by the certainties that the artilleryman's (rather fascist) plan seems to offer so humanity survives?#But what sort of humanity would that be if it DID survive and is it worth it? The narrator feels he needs to justify the curate's death#The artilleryman would have probably never have thought it was anything OTHER than justifiable or indeed laudable#Under strain and stress would you start to turn against even your loved ones and become brutal?#Is that the only hope for human survival beyond complete surrender? And was the destruction of London maybe even 'cleansing'#In the eugenics sense or in the sense of a natural horror of dirt and germs?#And the vast exodus of six million people fleeing headlong in panic - we might not have seen that exact phenomenon#But didn't the twentieth century subsequently go on to show us unprecedented scale of slaughter and refugee movements and communal strife?#At the end of the day what really separates humanity from other animals? And what separates us from the Martians?#It's not an uncontroversial book- it was written over a hundred years ago for goodness sake and there are questions worth asking#about the way imperialism and arguments about eugenics and population control and all sorts of other dodgy areas operated on Wells' mind#But dear God I really don't think the problem with the book is that 'Humanity didn't save the day!'#Unsatisfying ending? Yes. A FAILURE? No not in my opinion- looks like it was exactly what Wells set out to do#Humanity didn't win the war of the worlds they had a narrow escape and though it might not be martians next time#Why wouldn't disaster return in the future? Sure we've studied their flying machines and even preserved a martian in a jar#But for all our science what have we ACTUALLY learned that will enable us to avert future human catastrophes? Ethically or socially?#Alright rant over- as usual my opinion is not universal nor necessarily well-informed this take just really got my goat

i met this dude on the train and we talked a bit and it was really nice but at the end he asked me for my number and like always i cannot say no, so i gave it to him. and i kinda thought that maybe that means nothing and he's genuienly looking for new people to hang out with but some of my friends say it wasn't probably platonically? and now idk what to do because he asked if we wanna hang
#and tbh to hanging out as friends i would say yes but if my friends are right then i don't wanna do this#and like usually if a guy asked for my number it was very clear to me that they hit on me because they literally said sth along of the line#of 'do u have a bf?' or 'hey you're cute' etc etc#but this one genuienly seemed like it could also be just friendly chatter?#like he asked for my favourite song and book and stuff and wrote it down in his notebook#and it felt more like a social survey#and like i get this 100%. i think i can see myself doing that too to random strangers#but my friends made me unsure if i read his intentions correctly.....#and i don't have ANY intentions in going on a date with him sorry )-:#i wish i could read ppl's minds 😭#p
