Ok so Good question cause i have a lot of feelings abt this episode !

Ok so the things I liked abt this episode! I LOVEDDD getting to see more of the earlier MePhones and Prime Shimmers, especially during their Egg Mission ... and MePhone3gs getting screentime with Suitcase and Knife was a total treat I love 2 see it!! The scene with 3gs when he was saying "please... don't" when Knife + Suitcase left referencing his earlier "Please Cobs don't.." oughhh that was gold I'm glad they added that/ didn't pretend like it never happened.

ALSOOOO MORE STEVE COBS and his SONGGG!!! LOVED IT!! and he felt pretty in character too like he's still a little silly and comedic which is such a relief especially since I fully believed they were just gonna make his character Entirely Evil with no qualities of his actual personality 🤷 

Contestant wise I loved getting 2 see them all (mostly) get along at the Hotel OJ party (Microphone is unbelievably gay for Soap Omg. AND ALMOST EVERYONE GOT A SPEAKING LINE!!! POINTING FRANTICALLY AT CHERRIES AND BOMB.)

Also I. LOVE. Love. Love love LOOOOVE MePad not taking Any Shit from morphine4 anymore (and focusing on helping the contestants)Do u Kmow how Long I've waited 4 tjis. 

And MePhoneX was actually Scary??? And what hes DONE 2 THE CONTESTANTS??WOW?? like I will not lie I low-key jumped in fear a little during the OJ MPX scene Ok✋✋Like ooook!! AnimationEpic crew are starting 2 make things a little scary and I honestly think that's so cool that they aren't dumbing this down

However ... despite all those things I felt mostly disappointed and Empty after watching this episode 😅? It's totally unexpected, (especially for something that was planned) I'll give them that!! And maybe that's what they were going for- but I just feel like there's so many other ways they could've gone with the lore but they went this route, it's just not my cup of tea And that's just a me thing😅! And on another personal note ...I'm so upset over Toilet still not being shown in an episode💔 I suppose I'm biased over this since he is and has been my Absolute favorite for Years (and I've waited years excitedly hoping 2 finally see him revealed in an episode just for it to Not happen Ever lol), but the AE crew have been avoiding him Like the Plague for forever atp... like I get that they don't necessarily Gaf abt him but I DO😢😢

And I felt like it has been heavily implied that he was going 2 be important 2 the plot but maybe that was wishful thinking/theories getting 2 my head? I don't know maybe he's been hidden 4 so long bc he's gonna have an awesome important role in the last part of the movie Or he's just never going 2 return🤷🤦 (REAL TEARS BTW.😢😢😭)

so over the weekend (literally two days) i watched 16 of the 18 episodes of season 3....... so here's my thoughts!!!!

i've already professed my love for the characters more than enough but i just need to remind everyone that i am sosososo in love with all these fucking characters, what a truly insanely likeable lineup of different personalities

eddie getting buck to babysit chris so he stops being stuck in a depressive spiral.... genius

the earthquake episodes last season were insane, but the tsunami disaster?????? off the charts. the scenes with buck and chris were fucking beautiful, i love this duo and need more of them NOW. buck cares about that kid so goddamn much. and while tired and injured he saves idk how many more people. the way him and chris are fighting for their lives and then buck is desperately looking for chris all while eddie thinks they're completely safe. eddie was freaking out last season because his son was stuck in a school, but he was calm during this disaster because he was with BUCK. it makes me so emotional. im sosososo glad that i had seen the outcome of chris being found before watching the episode bc idk how people who didnt know that beforehand could handle it. the scene with eddie finding buck with chris' glasses???? im going to start crying. and after all of that for buck being so sure eddie wouldnt trust him anymore only for him to drop off chris again like its nothing?? im going to sob

from what i have read online the lawsuit storyline is a very divisive topic in the fandom. i kind of see both sides. i can see that buck thought his hands were tied and that the only family he had was replacing him. but i know at the same time that it's an overreaction. bobby didnt have any reason to have buck stay on leave for that long when chimney proudly proclaims he went back to work after only a couple of weeks. i understand that bobby cares about buck like a son somewhat, but he was not being fair. buck also shows that he didn't really want to cause as much hurt and friction between them by apologising again and again and not even thinking about accepting the money, going back to the 118 even though he knew they were going to make it difficult for him. it was a tricky situation, but im glad they moved on from it fairly quickly.

the fight club eddie storyline is kind of wild????? also did he ever get any reporcussions from bobby for that??? men will literally do anything but talk about their issues and deal with their feelings. what an insanely gay thing to do.

the episode of 911 dispatch being taken over might just be one of the best episodes of the series. i especially loved that we got to see characters that other times didnt get as much screentime. LOVE LOVE LOVE JOSH!!!

the athena begins episode is heartbreaking. and beautiful. the closure at the end, with her telling emmet's mother that they made an arrest. how beautiful. really well done. she never gave up on finding that man.

the eddie begins episode is also beautiful. him cutting the fucking rope???? idk how they want me to believe that he swam to safety but whatever..... anyways he loves chris so much and we got to see more of his and shannon's marriage which i loved. to be fair, he was kind of a shitty father and definitely a shitty husband, shannon was clearly not ok and i understand why she left. doesnt make it right, but i understand it. when he gets stuck underground and buck starts losing his mind, screaming, crying, throwing up and bobby gives him /that/ look. oh kill me now. that man was gonna dig by hand .... i love them.

the episode of buck helping that old veteran feel important and not alone at the end of his life? im going to start crying again. buck truly believes that no one will ever love him or choose him or stay with him forever.

michael talking to harry about what being black means when they encounter police was incredibly moving and heartbreaking. but also important. i just love athena's family.

hen hitting that cello girl with the ambulance...... oh i cried so hard, my heart broke for her. karen and her are so amazing together i love them so much, they truly are each other's rock.

i love the buckley siblings. i love the side characters. i love the main characters. i have so many thoughts.

abby....i understand that she had to get away from everything to find herself ok? but she shoudlve just texted or sent a letter to buck just to give him closure and not let him keep haunting her apartment. i dont like them as a couple, this shit has clearly hurt buck deeply and will not be easy for him to get over. she didnt really seem all to apologetic either at the end. i get it but also why did u have to hurt buck by not ever responding and ghosting him????

got so many funny and beautiful scenes this season, it was amazing!!! truly loved every character. it had that gay ass buddie kitchen scene... lol

finally some appreciation for my man and favourite character kingler like he goddamn DESERVES. i actually have not enjoyed tadc very much theres so much i rly dislike abt it but its like super well produced and indie so like you watch to be on the loop (i wish it was actually rendered closer to the quality of cd games from the 2000s that it seemed to be referencing but like, it looks how it looks and thats how it is), i rly disliked the script for the mpst part in the first 2 eps but ive loved kingler from day 1 so having an ep with mostly just him and pomni (i have mixed feelings on her too but w/e) was great great great and we had some lore n stuff but rly like i could smell a fellow traumatized man whos a bit wacky to cope from miles away and im glad to be proven Right

kingler so cute so very handsome and uwu so gentle and kind 💖💖💖 i love how gentle he is and good to pomni (ofc ppl are gonna call it fatherly or god forbid grandfatherly when hes like 40, and now if you ship them ppl will say its incesty when theyre two grown adults but w/e) like idk i just love a kind mentally unwell man!!! im simple!!! him just overexposing at the near end in dialogue was rly awkward in the writing like man they just, the dialogue is so not good. but in theory his character is so good and the thing abt the darkness and such was sweet. like hes just always been so endearing and the ep just gives a lot of free real estate kingler screentime to drink with my eyeballs, it doesnt change my opinion on the character at all bc ive always loved him this much

anyway its new anime season which means i get to talk about the anime ive enjoyed over the last 3 months yayyyy

elusive samurai 10/10 oh my god. i had it as a 9/10 for most of the season bc yorishige weirded me out but he mostly calmed down and idc it deserves the ten. fun plot fun characters interesting designs and THE ANIMATIONNNN ive seen reviews say "this would be a ten if not for the cgi" but theyre wrong. we all hate the horses. thats a given. but quite honestly yhe cgi people were done really well and sometimes i didnt even notice they WERE cgi til i saw the horses. also, they did PAPER STOP MOTION. and various other things i cant think of off the top of my head. the side characters too are all unique and dont feel like wasted screentime like i love you fubuki i love you kojiro i dont hate yorishige i love you ayako. if you want a fun show with some drama and amazing art then watch this. season 2 highly likely!

oshi no ko s2 10/10 too its onk i cant rate it lower i love this stupid show. sorry. like s1 the art was gorgeous im really happy with how they did scenes like aquas panic attacks and the representation of his guilt, akanes revelation, rubys discovery, etc. theres still another episode but i dont care. the emotional beats hit exactly like i wanted them too great show. motivated me to catch up on the manga after i dropped it over the kiss and im really glad i did (THEY DIDNT COMMIT TO THE INCEST THING THANK GOD). i will always recommend onk if you want an interesting drama with murder-mystery aspects

delicos nursery 10/10 yes another 10. i fucking love this show. 6 episodes in and the second half has been delayed but its on the fucking list bc i love it. has been described as a classical painting turned anime and i agree. the background art is consistently stunning it really does look like a painting. the children are so cute. unbelievably cute. oh my god seriously. the worldbuilding has been really fun too. im completely unfamiliar with the source material but i dont care. the rating might just be for how cute the kids are. maybe. undoubtably this is going to be a comfort show for me in the future. even the villain cast seems interesting i want to know everyones deal. cannot endorse this enough

senpai wa otokonoko 8/10 i havent watched the finale yet but still. cute queer romance. highly relatable too honestly... saki my aro icon i love her she deserves better. makoto being a crossdresser and not explicitly transfem might not be for everyone but i liked how it was done eg saki and ryuuji taking him out for a girl day. so cute. i think the balance between silly teen drama and fairly realistic issues was done well. hell it handles things even outside of the homophobia and transphobia like sakis home life. wouldnt rec it to everyone but i will say its more than it looks on the surface and i enjoyed it

other things i watched recently that werent seasonal: link click! 9/10 its like all the good things from future diary kind of. not really. ish. i need to stop comparing them but its compulsive. funny but it did make me cry my fucking eyes out at times though i was more interested in the actual plot by season 2. yingdu arc save me. oh and haikyuu. its haikyuu. generally a 9/10 series i truly dont care that much for shounen sports anime but it was a fun watch im excited for the next movie i wish timeskip was going to get more attention though.

+ bonus: i havent finished shoushimin but i did highly enjoy the first 5 episodes. it didnt make the list because im scared the evil twin thing wasnt a joke and i cannot rate it until i find out

Oh no I hate Fan too. Fan was not a good character in season 2 and he didn't actually face any consequences for his actions. Paintbrush was like the closest we got to Fan being criticised and people considered PB to be the one overreacting. Paintbrush is done so dirty because the fandom put their own belief about the bright lights being family even though Paintbrush never actually got along with them. They talked to tt like once, bickered with lb until the last ep they were in and then there's. Fan..

Also I think I hate fantube a little more after the theyrebasicallycanon polls put enstars against ii. Glad rinniki won they deserve the win against fantube imo.

Paintbrush was in every way in the right to yell at fan, he constantly bothered and nagged at them and the stuff about marshmallow was definitely the final straw

i only ever liked the whole bright lights family thing because honestly it could’ve worked imo!!! but they just never took that chance they never really developed the brights lights AT ALL most season (beside from marshmallow) the bright light felt more like the comical team (not really but can’t think of a better way to describe them) compared to the grand slams who definitely got way more focus and development

it’s shitty because i think the brights lights could’ve had potential but they were just casted aside until the last few episodes where “oh hey look development!! :] oh wait nvm they’re eliminated now <3” like ????

paintbrush definitely got the short end of the stick here. literally having what was supposed to be their episode mainly centred around tt and lb and having their feelings about marsh being completely casted aside. i wish more was done w/ marshmallow and them vs them and lb

looking back a lot of their scenes w lb just felt kinda off??? i don’t think can articulate this probably rn but paintbrush deserved better

but at the same time i wish the team got more time w/ each other in general, they have so many great opportunities to do it like in the maze episodes but again they’re kinda just cast aside as just comedy

and w/ s3 oh boy i hate what they did with paintbrush and their “arc” in the last few episodes. they quite literally and figuratively took away their edges, i miss sassy, sarcastic confident paintbrush they feel so dulled down in iii and it’s like no one in the writing team understands them at all. it’s like they didn’t even write s2 (but hey back to the point i mentions last post that show writers really ought to stop listening to fans sometimes because this is how fanon seeps in </3)

i hate how the a lot of the fans view paintbrush especially if it’s only ever in the context of lightbrush or shipping (another thing that pisses me off btw is how they’re always treated as irrational and or just plain out abusive FUCK PEOPLE WHO PORTRAY PAINTBRUSH LIKE THIS)

they’re such a great character who gets absolutely fucked over by the writing and fandom (not all of the fandom of course, i love seeing ppls takes and discussions on them but it’s just some fans who just </3)

alright ! i've had a full 24+ hours to Process — which may have involved a bottle of prosecco ( i don't drink btw ) & going through a few waves of tears — & i'm here ready to talk about the finale. of.md spoilers below the cut, obviously !

some things i actually did like ( a short list ) :

the plot on paper. the beats of a good story were there but it was so rushed through & poorly executed that it just felt messy, unearned, slapped together.

ed thinking stede is dead & disassociating so hard he goes on a rampage & murders several of the soldiers in very sexy ways, ie: bayonet flip. also ed coming out of the ocean like aphrodite, ready to murder in his black leather. slay.

jim & archie kissing Like That before going to battle. also jim throwing knives from in the trees. very hot, powerful trans energy there, i really enjoyed it.

unfortunately everyone on the crew looked very sexy in stolen navy uniforms.

spanish "you best believe everyone in this household is poison trained" jackie.

zheng existing ( i would like to formally request a whole show about her )

stede yelling 'for love !' when attacking the british. romantic stede my beloved.

most of izzy's main dialogue — especially telling ricky that what really matters about piracy is belonging to something in a world that has told you that you are worth nothing. & yes, even most of of his conversation with ed. izzy telling him it's ok to just be ed ? killed me. & blackbeard was both of us ? don't even. i did want him to apologize to ed properly & am still glad that he did but be careful what you ask your god for am i right.

the final panning shot of the crew on the revenge. beautiful shot despite it all.

issues i had ( a longer list ) :

the editing ? why so many harsh cuts ? the way it was spliced together only contributed to the chaotic & disjointed feeling. & of course, the pacing. i think these two issues are connected & probably not the fault of the writers themselves. the show clearly really needed all 10 episodes to do what it really wanted to do, & this finale is just begging for that lost hour of screentime.

it wasn't even a good fuckery lol.

i wish lucius & pete's wedding had been... idk, just more. something more akin to calypso's birthday, a proper celebration for them. i also wish they would have given an indication they're still poly. "i now pronounce you mateys" was good tho.

ed apologizing & saying i love you & stede not doing either one in return. stede not being sappy in his irl fantasy ? impossible, im really confused by that choice.

0 resolution for stede's entire arc ? 0 indication of self reflection on his part ? & thus no resolution for the primary conflict of the show's central relationship ? they didn't even talk about their future, it just cut to them standing there & stede saying "so i guess we're innkeepers now" as if that's all he would have had to say about that ? i know that this show handwaves away a lot of things, like travel times & the realities of sailing, but i thought the story was literally about this relationship, & we don't get to see them decide on what their future together will look like. it's framed as stede just kinda going along with ed's latest whim ( since you know, they've always worked out soooo well for him in the past ) even though it's the exact opposite of what he's been moving towards personally lately, all without even saying a word about it ? i'm not even saying that i don't like this ending, but it just again felt so unearned.

very little actual resolution for ed's arc. his whole deal this season was about deciding who he wants to be, but he flip flops every time something doesn't go his way & the episode gave us no reason to think that would be different now with their inn. also he just killed a bunch of soldiers after having serious trauma surrounding the act of killing throughout the entire series, but i guess we're just supposed to believe that's ok, he's totally fine, he's an innkeeper now ! (will say more on this topic in the final section.)

poly things not being handled well or outright forgotten about. like olu / jim / archie / zheng has all the potential in the world for a beautiful poly love story & we barely got to see them interact together at all. & to think i was all :eyes: when izzy was dubbed the unicorn because i actually thought for a few episodes there that they might be doing the same thing for polyamory in s2 that they had done for queerness in s1, showing the audience that it's ok to see ourselves in stories & not just on the fringes, we're not stupid or freaks reading into something that isn't there. but turns out, it wasn't there, & i was the freak & the clown all along. live & learn.

the elephant in the room ( rip izzy you beautiful freak ) :

here's the thing. obviously i was never going to be happy that they killed my most favoritest old man. the fact that he's dead just when he found something real to live for is literally heartbreaking to me. but i could have swallowed it as a natural & important part of the narrative if one small thing was done differently: izzy could have had an actual sacrifice. & not for ed, but for the crew. after his speech about living for the crew, him choosing to act in a way that compromised his safety but earned their freedom would have felt like a completion of his arc. but instead it was a stray bullet to the left side which he earned in stede's so-called suicide mission ( don't even get me started on that line given where izzy started this season ), an injury which the show has told us previously is 100% survivable.

in the crew sacrifice scenario izzy could have acted as the symbol of piracy itself, a way of life that is dying. he is, after all, The Pirate (aside from blackbeard himself) on the show. & he has a history of letting shit slide that kinda doesn't align with the way of life they're trying to build on the revenge, not just in s1 but also in the scene with lucius in s2 ("& you? are you happy with all this?" "well, this is a pirate ship, & i'm a pirate so... yeah, i'm good with it.") ricky says they are at "the end of piracy" & izzy is the last REAL pirate (including ed because at this point as he is moving away from that life). & as izzy himself says in s1, "the only retirement we get is death." izzy also shows pretty intense self-preservation, & most of his shitty actions in s1 are motivated by often misplaced survival instincts, ("i'm not dying. not for you & not for that ponce,") so having him go against this longstanding character trait to protect the crew would have felt earned after his dramatic growth. it could have worked. it still would have hurt, but it could have worked.

instead, the way it is actually framed, the narrative actively robs izzy of this symbolism & instead makes his death entirely about ed & ed's relationship to piracy. having him die in a random incident & then having his death scene be followed up by ed finally "officially" (for the third time) giving up piracy honestly flattens everything i find interesting about them as characters & their dynamic to each other.

ed & izzy have very clearly been in clearly a mutually toxic codependent relationship (platonic or otherwise) for decades, but the framing of izzy's death being the only thing that can free ed from piracy (& blackbeard) turns izzy from a complex character of his own into a 2-dimensional plot device. & if izzy truly couldn't exist without blackbeard, then it would make sense — but we've just seen that he can, actually ! that he is a person outside of that relationship, despite what he himself thought for most of his life ! that they can both exist outside of them, & there is a very real possibility that neither of them actually need blackbeard anymore. so instead his death feels cruel to me. & because we know this is the show where injuries simply don't matter unless we need them to, we know that this was a conscious choice, that the writers genuinely felt he had to die for the story (ed's story) to continue.

& you know, that's fair on some level. he's the lead after all. but i also think this framing is actually kind of reductive to ed's character ! i don't write ed, but part of what makes him so compelling to me is that he is... kinda a "bad person," but he wants to be better. he's extremely complex. he has trauma & big feelings & he doesn't always act on them in the right way. & he feels guilt & remorse — he knows he has done wrong in the past & wants to be better, even if he doesn't always know how. & izzy has admittedly been an obstacle to him reaching that end in the past, but to frame it as if ed's actions were because of izzy, & actually izzy was making ed be blackbeard & manipulating him into doing bad things that he didn't really want to do, then i guess now that izzy is dead ed is free to skip off into the sunset happily ever after with his man ! the bad influence in his life finally gone, so he is all healed ! never mind that his most recent return to piracy & killing spree as blackbeard had literally nothing to do with izzy & everything to do with thinking he'd lost stede again. never mind that ed's trauma has its roots in things that happened to him before izzy (his father) & things that also happened to izzy (hornigold). nope, izzy was the real shackle all along. he has to die so ed can be free, & he only ever existed solely to develop ed's pain. that's what this narrative feels like. & i just... don't like the taste of it on any level. izzy says himself that blackbeard was both of them. so why does izzy have to die while ed gets to move on, given they both have shown the capacity to do so ?

the bit that i think i like least about how it's executed is izzy saying "i want to go," especially considering how he & ed are both shown to be actively suicidal in the opening of the season, & he has since started to regain his self confidence from that lowest point. & maybe that line could be read as him just trying to soothe ed in the moment, but idk, it rubbed me the wrong way for him to say he still wanted to die when in fact he had just found something he actually wanted to live for.

so ! i think that's all i have to say about that ! if you've made it this far, thanks for reading ! i'll be working today on writing up a basic canon divergence for both stede & izzy, since i don't like how either of them ended the season out. sorry, but stede's simply not ready to give up pirating just yet, even for ed. & in my head, izzy is fine because he was shot on the left side & "science" tells us there's nothing important in that half of the body anyway. : )

THERES A LOT OF THINGS IM HAPPY ABOUT... and not a lot thats irking me right now :Vc ig i wouldve loved more interaction and screentime from certain characters, but its like 10 episodes so far so I get it LOL

theres also like the very modern slang and writing (if anyone knows what i mean) which is rly funny to compare to the early seasons ^_^ im personally fine w the writing/jokes (at least for now)

the new characters and the new screentime for some s1 characters is SO GOOD.

You're very welcome! No one has ever sent me any kind of request for anything out of the blue before so I was both very surprised but also very flattered by it. I hope I put together something good as I tried to pick shots where he was predominantly featured instead of lingering in a scene among other characters (which unfortunately is most of his scenes).

And yes! I get the sense that after Daniel and Fito had their little private conversation, they likely pulled Eduardo aside and told him that they needed him to be the one to speak up. I could see them making the argument that Marcelo will listen if it comes from Eduardo. Which is really interesting too because there's a part in Eduardo's book where he talks about having another conversation with Marcelo afterwards and claims that he did eventually convince him to agree and that at that point they both consented to each other that in the event of their death, the group could use their body. So they were right, lol.

I'm sorry, I could talk about these two for hours. Friends of mine can attest to it lol.

One thing I will definitely give Bayona credit for with the film too is that even things that aren't outrightly stated or given their own specific scenes are often subtly referenced in a gesture which has made me appreciate on subsequent rewatches that even though there are things I really wanted to see more of, they weren't entirely "missing". Like towards the ending of the film where Eduardo is riding in the ambulance with Coche and holding his hand as he's wheeled into the hospital... and then later in the final scene he's sitting with Roy and Bobby instead of with his cousins. I haven't read Pablo Vierci's book yet (because my Spanish comprehension is practically non-existent), but one thing that Piers Paul Read mentioned in his book is how Eduardo dedicated himself to looking after the youngest, sickest, and weakest boys in the group. And so it's really nice that even though he doesn't get a lot of speaking lines, we still get to see these little touches that are references to larger things that he had going on.

OKAY, OKAY! I GOTTA CLEAR ONE THING UP!

I'm seeing this A LOT in the fandom, and I am SO SO SICK of people trying to paint David as a worst person than he really is. Maybe I'll eat my own words in the future, but I can promise you honey, David is NOT a purely evil person! (at least from what is already public)

Is it a two-faced liar? Yes, yes he is. I mean.....if my job was to constantly tell ppl that things will be okay, I guess that would also make me a liar as well (as optimistic as a person can be, the most ideal way is not always a reality). Did he tell Xander to kill Teruko? We do not know that yet! I see lots of people saying that "Xander trusted David right off the bat, of course he would trust whatever David said!" but honestly? I don't suspect David as much as anyone else (maybe except Ace, Arei, or Arturo). Xander is genuinely someone that wanted to be friends with everyone, and yes, he looked up to David. But we do not know for sure if David told him to kill Teruko. And even so, like......Teruko is kinda sus, ngl. It's very briefly touched upon in chapter 1's trial, but THE SIGNS ARE THERE, in chapter 2. I even saw a comment in one of chapter's 2 episodes where someone said "No wonder Xander tried to kill you Teruko, you sus!"

Chapter 1, I admit, David is pretty sus. But after watching the screentime he had (so far) in chapter 2, he's not......he's not horrible! He was someone that constantly needed to be perfect, put up a happy go lucky persona, and try to maintain a positive attitude, even if he was depressed himself. He couldn't be sad, he needed to be the 'happy' one. Xander, who fell for David's on stage persona, became what David genuinely wanted to be. Which is why David said "technically *YOU* are my rolemodel, Xander". His friendship with Xander seems 100% geunine

I see people even going as far as saying "David was secretly rude to Xander and was glad that he died cause David hated his fans" and I was like ".......Did you watch drdt with your eyes closed?!"

Okay, i have to say chiem was looking pretty sus to me. I was suspecting him to be the Mastermind even. But honestly, finishing chapter 1, i think not. I think david is just... A tired guy. Hes tired of being optimistic, and i understand him! I truly believe he is a optimistic and loving guy but- he reached his limit yknow? His sanity is slowlyng getting lower. I truly believe chiem is a cool dude, he's just... Tired.

And also, i think david telling xander that xander is his "rolemodel" is a genuine feeling towards matthews.

Well, i didnt get to chapter 2 but i got kinda.... Mad at teruko... As both a paranoid and a overly- betrayed-person the scene of min hugging teruko hit me HARD in the heart. Cause i understand both of them.

I like teruko, but sometimes she makes me... Sad? I dunno- like- all her hatred towards matthews was absolutly comprehenseble, but at the same time- it made me so... Sad?

I was really dissapointed with xander. I been backstabbed and that shit HURTS. I definetly got really mad at xander for what he did to teruko but-

THATS THE PROBLEM! WHY DO I UNDERSTAND TERUKO BUT- i still find her kinda... Harsh...? I dunno....

But back to chiem, hes cool, i like him, and im hoping to see more of him in the future!

Watched the mario movie so heres my informal review (spoilers ig)

Positives:

-animation was fine, hard to fuck up when you have thirty years of precedent for what the characters look like. I liked bowsers scales. Peaches head is so small in comparison to marios its weird tho

-i thought marios family was kind of sweet and i liked the bit with the commercial

-luigi had a good clean character arc even if he didnt get much screentime. Also i liked the bit that references his ghost themed games.

Negatives:

-the bit with the dog. If youre going to make it clear these characters are underdogs why not make it be their fault that they did a bad job instead of making it completely random? So weird.

-marios weird characterization/lack of it. His character seems to be painted as “guy who gets back up time after time” but like… thats not really a bad thing? They try to imply it is but its just like not a character flaw.

-He also seems to be worried his dad is disappointed in him and yet that doesnt impact anything he does. Like he doesnt avoid taking chances because hes worried about his dads opinion- at least DK has more interaction with his dad like that.

-who tf is toad why was he there why did he adopt mario and take him to the princess immediately. So many questions.

-not so much a deep criticism but the toads are ugly

-shows a map of the whole world in detail and then is only concerned with like half of it… if youre going to show the desert world then i want it onscreen!

-(and yet im glad they didnt because there were way too many disjointed elements)

-bizarre parkour course that gives away all of the baddies?

-peachs weird backstory about being adopted from the human realm and being crowned princess?? Like you cant just adopt children you find, toads. Also why did they crown her princess. Its not even like “the king/queen adopted her and later she took the mantle” nope they did it for no reason

-way too many things crammed in- DK, karts, rainbow road, and they didnt even use my favorite powerup, super huge mushroom

-DK just being wreck it ralph

-bowser had no character??? Honestly i dont care about peachs backstory i wanted a tender song about how bowser was kicked out of mushroom land for being a turtle but the turtles also didnt respect him because hes a monster and he just wants to be loved. He was so one dimensional honestly.

Things im neutral on

-removing marios accent, i dont care that much, i care more abojt the fact they should hire better *voice* actors instead of alisters.

-girlboss!peach. I dont mind her girlbossing ig

-the sort of clashy bright aesthetics combined with scifi moving platforms and elevators

Anyways probably dont watch this movie unless youre catsitting while doing laundry and dont have anything to do but watch netflix

I'm so glad most of the Og va's for the guys dipped asap when Jess started to go downhill. Afaik Andy and Pm Seymour (I honestly have no clue what to call him) are on to doing their own stuff now.

And my actual legit question! What do you think of Laurance and Garroth's characters slowly declining into like.. Nice Guy, kinda creepy behavior? Even watching it when it first came out ages ago made me uncomfortable.

Hi hi! no need to apologize for the spam notes, trust me when I say I get it a lot lol, I don't mind it at all.

The decline of Laurance and Garroth is literally what ruined the series, and Jess herself has acknowledged it before lol. Can't bother to find an exact quote right now, I think she mentioned it in a stream where she was talking about the state of Rebirth, but she's mentioned multiple times how she projected fan disapproval of Aarmau onto Garroth and Laurance at the time of writing, and as a result took the story in a direction she couldn't write in any longer. There's a reason all of S3 is privated on a second channel, and it's because Jess herself doesn't consider it + the ending parts of S2 to be fully "canon." (and at this point neither do I lol.)

I think I'm speaking for most people when I say that plotlines that rely on jealousy are overdone. IMO, they're boring, lazy, and were at no point in time ever good. Seeing them from two characters who straight up were not victims of this behavior until after it's established they wouldn't do it makes this even worse. Garroth gets the creep behavior long before the writing goes down the drain in S2. Every time I look back on the S1 finale and the moments leading up to it now I get sad because I know that the same character he had earlier in the season will never come back, and he will never be as interesting ever again.

A large amount of the people I see these days who hate Laurance do so because of his writing in late S2. I go back and forth on this a lot- I think ultimately Garroth got it way worse considering this sort of writing affected him way earlier than it did Laurance, making it unalterably tied to his character. But there is something incredibly heartbreaking about seeing two seasons of writing for what I think is one of the best-written characters in the series completely flushed away by a few episodes of clearly ooc writing. Garroth got less time than Laurance to develop considering his character was all but benched for all of S2, so in a way there's less writing for him to conflict with the weird jealousy angle they throw on later. This is absolutely not the case for Laurance, who has nearly two full seasons of screentime in the main cast, who emphasizes multiple times that he will still care for Aphmau whether she loves him or someone else.

I think a large part of what made Garroth, Laurance, and Aphmau's combined dynamic interesting was their mutual love for eachother, and how it didn't interrupt their friendship despite that. I've described it before as the fact that "They were still people beyond being love interests for her." (in this post here, in case I haven't rambled long enough for you and you want more on this topic) and I still stand by that wording pretty strongly. Not only did the jealousy nice guy angles ruin the characters for many, it ruined every part of their dynamics that was interesting.

Tldr me when im in a turning 3-dimensional characters into flat paper contest and my competition is Jess.

Ranking Beyblade Burst Seasons!

Ive been wanting to do this after I saw someone do this. their user is @sappho-rose

I’ll be telling yall each of the seasons strong point. Also this is based off of enjoyment I don’t hate none of the seasons in Beyblade Burst.

1. Evolution

Coming at number 1 we have Evolution! This is a very popular opinion, but I truly think the show was at its peak this season. I think it’s strong point was definitely the writing. Character wise and plot wise the writing was very good and I like that in turbo we can see Shu and Valts character development from the aftermath of Evolution. They gave us new characters that were great and it was fun to watch as a whole. The battles were fun to watch as well. This season also showed the importance of friends and that they’ll always have each others back. Blading should be fun and Valt spread that message all around! He deserved that world champion title and helped save his friend at the same time. Truly a W season and a W main character.

2. The First Season

Number 2 is the first season. I think what really made me put this at number 2 was its originality. In the newer seasons the characters are usually just copy and paste from the originals, but nothing beats the original LOL. I liked that we got to see Valt grow as a blader. Even though he did lose the tournament at the end he still had fun and continued his journey in Spain. S1 was just fun and I had fun watching it!

3. Surge

I was going to put rise for number 3, but I decided to put Sparking instead. Its strong point was its dynamics. I liked to see the old characters mesh with the newer characters. It definitely gave the humor from s1-2. Duos like lui/dante, hikaru/aiger, valt/hyuga, lui/free, it was just so entertaining. I also love Hyuga. I feel like he’s so overhated. But i feel like you guys missed the point of Hyuga. Hyuga is the complete opposite of Hikaru, so I dont know why you guys say he should be like Hikaru. Hikaru balances our Hyuga and vice versa. The show wouldn’t be good without one of the twins there. I ALSO liked that they gave other characters some screentime this season. I felt like we didn’t get to see enough character development for other characters like for example rantaro, ranjiro, silas, and free. So i was glad when they got some spotlight this season. The battles were good too. Im happy the newer seasons started doing Tag battles with multiple bladers and new stadiums. It makes it so much more interesting. Though I do have a pet peeve. I dont like Shu at all this season. I feel he was actin very odd. Once he picked his partner to be with Lane his whole personality changed. I dont know why he couldn’t have just simply explained that he teamed up with Lane to watch over him but he didn’t. He literally told the twins he was going to “crush them both”. Why would he say that? Just because Lane doesn’t like them doesn’t mean all of a sudden Shu has to not like em either. Im glad Hancho called him out on it even if it was a bit mean. Lane did break hyperion, helios, and roktavor. I would be angry too especially because Shu didn’t explain his reasoning and was just acting like a bad guy. I also find it strange for his huge concern for Lane as if Aiger wasn’t in that same situation in Turbo. Shu was constantly checking up on Lane, but in Turbo he really only checked up on Aiger once. Valt was the one that pointed out that Aiger looked like he was going down the same path as Red Eye. I feel like because Valt saved Shu from that, shu should’ve been the one saving Aiger from that path too. But it’s whatever I guess.

4. Rise

Number 4 Is Rise! I love this season and wish it were longer. It had so much potential. If only this season had a longer runtime😭. The animation was so good this season like I thought I was trippin when I thought it had the best animation but others agreed too! I think its strongpoint was it not having any older characters besides from Aiger and Valt. You cant keep on depending on the older characters to make it a good season. I do say that Delta felt a bit forced this season. He felt like a downgraded Shu who was mean to Dante for no reason. Then he randomly started being nice and a team player like halfway through the season and Im like ???. He was definitely my least favorite part in this season. Also the character designs were so ugly to me im so sorry💀 I got used to Amane, but those other characters were soo ugly. And i wished that they gave the girl blader more of a role. Im tired of the female bladers in beyblade being put to the side lines. Other than that this season was pretty average, but Dante really made it entertaining I love him so much! He’s such a ray of sunshine.

5. Turbo

If Im being honest I really did not enjoy watching this season. I really only stuck around to continue to see Aigers journey. I love aiger and his development, but this season just was bad imo. The newer characters don’t do anything to the plot besides from Ranjiro. Ranjiro and Aiger were the best thing in this season. I liked Xavier and Laban though! I wish Shu was more present this season because I think him and Shu parallel so much. I also LOVED the battle between him and Phi. literally top 5 beyblade battles. It showed Aigers development and that he enjoyed blading now. The high point of this season was definitely Aiger in general.

6. Quaddrive

Honestly I was very disappointed with this season. It felt like a watered down version of Turbo. I like Bell, but he can be genuinely annoying sometimes. People say he’s overpowered, but he was a strong blader even before the show started. I wish they would stop brining the older characters just to nerf them too. I feel like i’ve genuinely never seen Lui and Free win for like 3 seasons straight. I like that we finally have a female blader though. One that’s important, but it took 6 seasons for that to happen. I LOVE Ranzo though and his friendship with Bell. I also appreciate giving side characters like Bashara more screen time and character development. I just wish they did that with Ranzo though? I feel like the Kiyamas are always done wrong in the anime and Surge finally gave the other Kiyamas development, but with Ranzo he’s still the supporting best friend type character, he doesn’t have his own character arc. I don’t think this season has a high point. I dropped it mid way and I dont know when i’ll watch it again.

firstlyyyy !! hmmm, as an ep? unsure how to feel about this one! in terms of like- progression? does that make sense. idk how to say it... bc it kinda pulls the rug out a few times to the point where im like hmmm idk; i feel like this coulda been done different. does that... make sense? usually i like that abt farscape but here, part of me feels like it was just a "well we're back several steps, and not in a good way that instills frustration, or that was properly exploratory, but just in a this was sort of filling out screentime sort of way" but eh. shrug. it still had a lota lot of good in it:3

ALSO i kind of wanted aeryn to be separated for a good while in terms of what that could do for, like, the story. i think it'd be interesting - because right now, hm.. idk. i feel like crais by himself, with talyn? well im just not so sure!! and again im talking, like, strictly speculatively and in terms of story. so, IM ABSOLUTELY GIVING IT A CHANCE, BTW! especially bc i think farscape does often prove me wrong. however i am GOING 2 speak my truth hereeee [looks shy] ...

i donttt... realllyy... ehrrm.. care for crais and what theyve done with him so far. its not that i dont LIKE him. but he really isnt anything interesting at all to me. shrug. its giving nothing- sorry... its why im kinda glad to see scorpius- bc i was glad to find out crais wouldnt stay "the big bad" because, yeah, it really wasnt working for me. he's nothing interesting, or innovative in terms of a character . sorrryyyyyyy.

and i feel like, by himself, i dont know. like i said- that's speculaitve - but i do sort of... question whether him, being off by himself, is going to be that interesting, because of that. at least, versus him having aeryn there to bounce off of, and inherently kinda tying them back more to the main crew, etc... does that make sense? bc i feel like- yknow, s1, he'd just disappear for long periods of time, and i'd almost forget he was even. a thing. LOL. and his dynamic was also... usually with his subordinates. and idk. they are kind of just npc-types, for lack of a better term. substanceless background guys. i think therefore, whilst you can demonstrate character like that, its never... of the same calibre as when you're actually in scenes with other characters of you know. substance. (and thats not a RULE, ofc, but its something hard to pull off otherwise esp when- well yeah, crais really doesnt feel like anything to me). and that was fine for s1, i think it worked better then, but from now on ehhh idk!!!

I LOVEEE TALNY I LOVE TALYN THATS ALSO WHY IM CONCERNED BC I JSUT WANT TO SEE MORE OF TALYN .... SORRRYYYY the problem with farscape thus far is theres so many little guys RIGHT up my alley and im bouncing up and down and criyng bC I LVOEEEEE ... WE BETTER GET MORE FREAKING TALYN. also i havent talked abt her much either. i like chiana. BUT i feeel bad bc i wanna LURV her but i think its like... THUS far its kinda obvious they didnt intend to keep her at first. so i really want to see more involvement with her going forward. i dont MIND so much that we havent had a lot of focus on her, so far, even if its like... WELL, i think in general, it was just an odd time to introduce her even if they couldnt rlly help it. like, it was right before all the finale eps and stuff, yknow, so we couldnt have an ep where we get a lot of her!!! but even still, like...

i always said sth i LIKED abt the show was the way they were pretty slow and organically introduced us. so i cant complain that much. :3

IALSO LOVEEE LOVE LOVE THE LACK OF RESET BUTTON ON... EVERYTHING, FRANKLY. IDK IF I SAID THAT YET. but like i love how it HAS been episodic, but things in each episode always actually do have bearings on the show as a whole. even if its just development stuff. like its so refreshing after a lot of trek, and other scifi shows of this ilk - wherein the eps so self-contained...

even in a human reaction. i diddnttt say it at the time BUT yeah im still unsure how i feel abt that one but i really appreciate that even though it was a simulation, they did mitigate the usual failings of that trope- they had the crew in there, and real, so they could actually experience things and it wasnt just crichton going through the ringer. and ofc the other consequence of that ep lol

ALSO speaking of. im kinda glad to see more development with crichton, too, and with all of them but him esp.... babycakes was fucking FRANTIC in this episode, man, holy SHIT.
