I actually really love the characterisation this part of sm2099 offers Dana (that the narrative seems either unaware or uninterested in exploring it is another thing shdhdjf).

It’s very, very clear Tyler is essentially offering the promise of future lucrative opportunities for her, and the contrast in lighting between the last two panels really alludes to how deeply swayed Dana is by that.

It’s not just the simulation shutting off, it’s the promise of that fabulously wealthy, colonial dream vanishing in an instant if the right hands aren’t on board to usher it in.

If she can just suppose her fiancé to…not be lying perhaps, but unable to see the entire picture, unable to accept Mr Stone’s regrets, too sensitive about the present to regard the importance of the future.
