1. original pat didn't have half of today pat's glamour and expensive taste. i used to describe her fashion as mostly basic and practical. by the time i started adding elements such as lots of jewelry and fashionable clothing, lindsey m.organ in the show the 100 just didn't cut it for me anymore in terms of icons and visual inspiration. it's one of the main reasons why i still think changing her fc was one of the best decisions i ever made.

2. pat used to have brazilian ancestry, which was mostly self-indulgent because i wanted to put some of myself into her. and it's not that there's any problem with that, but now i've already got enough brazilian ocs that i feel like i don't need that anymore.

i'm gonna do some more ooc posts just some deep dives on emma! sometimes it's cause it's being brought up in a thread and other times it just comes across my mind

tonights deep dive is: selecting her FC

so starting off when I was making Emma, I had a few set rules/guidelines I wanted to stick to when looking for a face claim

First, the two big eye color and hair color. In a lot of iterations of Joker, when his past self is shown (or just looking at the actor), a majority of the time he's born with brown hair and blue eyes. Eyes kinda vary a bit more, so I felt sticking to her getting brown hair from him to be a safe bet! Her mom, which I can go into detail on another dive, has blonde hair and brown eyes--so she gets her eyes from her mom.

Second, no big name actors. One reason is a lot of time when you see someone playing a teenager, they're like twenty-something and that was not the vibe I was going for. I wanted Emma to look more like a kid rather than a young adult, so that cut down a lot of options. Another reason is a lot of people have a lot of rules, and for one reason or another they might have an actor on their ban list. Totally respectable and understandable! But for someone who is planning to rp an OC, I don't want to lose my options because of that. Also, given how all the superhero franchises are just so HUGE, I did not want to pick someone who did ended up getting casted who'd ended up being in my universe.

So from there it was: find a lesser known actress with brown hair and brown eyes, who does not look like some young adult model.

I think from there I was going onto some website that had a like 'find an actor based off their features' search option and was scrolling through there for awhile. I honestly cannot remember any of the other contenders but once I saw Olivia Steele Falconer, I stuck to it!

Coincidentally, I actually already knew of the actress from her appearance on Once Upon A Time. The show, whose main character's name is Emma. So yeah, if you've seen that show you can see the parallels probably lol.

I've never been someone who likes to use icons in replies--I just overthink and stress out too much over them, so the lack of icons did not bother me too much! Olivia's character's style in OUAT is also nothing like Emma's, but she did some indie projects before the shore which majority of my photos are from! Thank goodness for her IMDB and her projects being on YouTube.

So as a treat for reading this crazy ramble, here's some random pics of her that I probably will not ever use.

anyway i should really find a new theme for this blog, huh? especially if i want to make a full comeback. if i do. something other than the old redux theme (despite how much i like how simple it is). i may have already found a new theme to use tho.

i am still very tuned in on writing/drawing for specifically game of dice tho (i love the characters and story there more than anything)

if you're wondering how the story is now (in the time since i posted that art of the 4), i have a whole rough timeline complete. including chapter names. (still unknown if i wanna post the story publicly) by rough i mean it's just short summaries of what happens in each chapter.

i wanted a timeline set (i did that for the old version of the story, it was actually mostly complete) before any actual writing. and i think the timeline is pretty much set. and i wrote part of chapter 1. wrote as in i blacked out after reading some of my old writing and woke up to about 200 words. that then expanded to 900 and counting. what being fueled by wanting to annoy a fave character does to me. and spite. also one of the main reasons for setting a timeline is the theme for act and chapter names i have. and every act and chapter has been properly named :) i think saying some of the chapter names would give things away, but i'll give away the name of Act I: Brand New Days

yes i am calling them acts like homestuck cause i like the stage play terms and how important music and the performing arts are to me and this AU. (plus music is so ingrained into homestuck itself, the fraymotifs [special moves] are musical terms for example). plus the old version had acts too

they're basically like this. the act is broken into parts with chapters. (of course there's more than 2 chapters for act 1)

if i were to write it in full again and post it, i'd post it to ao3. the old ews story is still there cause i don't want to delete the only archive of the story (aside from it being in my files) but don't read it. don't worry about it. oh god it's so old, don't look at it. i don't even have my fantrolls in it anymore. altho i have put it locked behind view to registered users only to make it somewhat private without getting rid of it. as well as disabled comments. my game of dice fics i've put there are far better, and it's not cause it's my game of dice bias (even tho those are old-ish too and predates the main story. and predates present nea [my game of dice fc])

altho i have did a little editing on a code to help make pesterlogs and memos look so much better than what they originally looked like in the old ews. i just decided to make this ahead of time in case it DOES come back to be posted publicly.

also i have some ideas for a new icon and header. the ideas i have are heavily persona 3 reload inspired. persona 3, especially reload, is one of the reasons i've thought about this AU again after all. what listening to full moon full life on repeat does to me. maybe the icon tho will be a redraw of the old one. which was from the old cover of when i was planning a comic version of the story. ...maybe i will redraw that cover, hm... who knows lol

Favorite plus size fcs that don't have resources (but should be they've been in popular shows/movies)? I am in the mood for giffing someone who deserves it and gets ignored by the community. I'd also be happy to gif people with disabilities who fits this?

Dear-Indies has very comprehensive lists of trans faceclaims and non-binary faceclaims.

I’m willing to make icons of any Jewish and/or FCs of color from those lists if you see some you’d like to use, but can’t find resources for. I don’t think you should limit yourself only to fcs who already have resources, so please: if there are fcs you want to see resources of, ask me and I will get some icons made.

Going through some of the existing resources I know of, though (sorry if some of these are already on your wanted fcs list!). Some of these I don’t have exact ages for, but I’m fairly confident are 35+

          thanks so much for liking our blog!  we try to give to the community as much as possible. as for your request i can already say this one is going to be a bit difficult. we’ll try our best, but we haven’t seen any resources for screencapping at the moment. if you could link us to a youtube video alexander is in that would be perfect, or even tell us if he’s in any movies that would also help. we can make icons from instagram pictures and modeling pictures if there’s nothing else. :)

I've wanted to let everyone know about different OCs that I am working on. Here I may as well be honest about my process: I find a faceclaim first, by looking through different icon-making blogs, and finding an FC that I think would work well, and who has a decent amount of icons. (I should admit that I need to take more effort to credit those people who make these icons; unfortunately in some cases I genuinely cannot remember where they are from, yet if one of those creators wants me to credit them, I will gladly do so, and apologize for not having done so in the first place; in any case I will attempt to find these sources once more and credit them by mentioning both the FC origin and the blog that made the icons that I use in the OC's bio.)

This post will be rather long, so get your face ready.

Anyways, once having found an FC and ascertaining something about their personality through their icons that I find, I get to work writing them.

First we have—as soon as I began writing this I started to think about how silly this all seems. Anyways—this guy, Shun Hashimoto; yes, I realize that he is from a yaoi manga, whereas I am not a fan of the genre at all. Nevertheless, having already written a character based off this FC, I find it difficult to separate him from this character, the original work's content notwithstanding, and I certainly hope that others will be able to separate the two (not that it is entirely necessary for everyone to do so, nor should I have any delusions about attempting to force the issue).

I've only managed to spend about three paragraphs doing anything but talking about the OC I've made. He's called Giacomo Martini, and he is an Italian Liechtensteiner studying in Scotland and pursuing his dream of becoming an Olympic skier. One idea of his character was something I'd thought of even before writing him; I wanted to have a boy-girl duo named Martini and Rossi, after the Martini & Rossi brand of vermouth and wine. You can hopefully get a sense from that of what sorts of things interest and inspire me—but if you are thereafter hoping for a duo named Anheuser and Busch, or something silly like Daniels and Williams (Oh! I know! Daniel Jack and William Evans!), I must tell you that you will be disappointed.

Truthfully, the girl to be named Chiara Rossi is still a work in progress; I am continuing to consider faceclaims for her.

This girl, named Yuna, comes to mind; I want her personality, demeanor, and interests to contrast those of Giacomo, who having grown up in an Alpine nation loves snow and quiet.

Setting those two aside...

Kotori Minami comes to mind, for some reason. Might make her German, or French, or Austrian, lol.

This guy is a prime candidate for Raúl's replacement.

This guy looks like me most nights and mornings.

Misaki here could be... another Japanese girl? I want to write another Japanese character... hmm... or she could be Taiwanese.

Mizuki might still be Japanese as well.

I find Sakura here rather cute. Again, not sure what I could do with her... a Russian, or Pole, also comes to mind. Diversity is the order of the day here, it seems...

This girl, again, can't remember her name or where these icons came from. On second thought, a Google search might do the trick, hopefully... thing is, the creator of the icons has placed this border around them, which is perhaps convenient for identifying the creator, or for making them look cleaner than the kind I typically use. It would certainly stand out in that sense, so... yeah.

Another girl who could hail from a colder country.

That's about it, really... if you could not tell, I have a thing for writing girls; I'm just not as good at writing boys, likely due to past experiences. I'm nevertheless willing to try. Thanks for reading. Not sure why you have. ... Quite sus indeed.
