One thing I can't stop thinking about is how Wille canonically has not consumed alcohol or any substances since when Simon had to come and rescue him from the football field scene. He didn't consumed anything in the Hillerska parties and even denied booze offered by Vincent. Like, either he swore them off after he realised that how much trouble he caused to Simon and then all the Alexander debacle, or he didn't like it anyways and he took them only because he is "supposed" to and that incident was the last straw for Wille. Either way, it's just so fascinating to me because Wille isn't even aware about Simon's trauma associated with substances because of Micke, and yet he subconsciously did the exact thing Simon was expecting Micke to do since years. Like, we all know that this boy is ready to give up his position to be with Simon, but he is also unknowingly making choices for Simon's well-being. They are just so perfect for each other.

Except... He did actually receive another godly order. Another god made a demand of him; Poseidon explicitly told him to become more Ruthless. You could argue it was a divine command, intentional or not.

...I joked about him being a paladin last night, but I do think there's power in stories when it comes to oaths, and what the gods tell you to do, tell you to be.

Odysseus followed through with Poseidon's demands, and he was rewarded for it, even if perhaps not the way Poseidon would have appreciated.

At some point, Post-Crisis comics Alfred isn't a person with independent will. He's the butler. His butler suit is pretty much his skin. He's like a Pokémon, and his Pokémon species is Butler. He goes back into the Poké Ball when Bruce tells him to. He likes it that way. He is not an adult person, and he can't be held to the standards of one. It's not in his function to contradict. Julia was erased, because this Alfred doesn't fuck. (Alfred wasn't always like this; I want to blame Chuck Dixon, but it's probably just a reflex instead of something I mean to argue. 🤔)

Jason never bothers to orchestrate any kind of Red Hood torture-gauntlet for Alfred, not even a cute mini-course scaled down for an old man. The only acknowledgment that Jason gives Alfred is to mail him that first-edition book. I interpret this as the equivalent of a young adult returning to his childhood home and gifting an apple to the family pony. It's a cute little gesture. 🤷‍♀️ Alfred is one of Jason's father's many marvelous possessions, one that Jason fondly remembers for producing delicious pot roast dinners and chocolate cake.

Okay, being a slightly less facetious jackass for a minute—I don't really subscribe to the idea that Jason would feel so betrayed by Alfred siding with Bruce against him. I'm pretty neutral on that. I lean toward the idea that Jason never knew an Alfred that wouldn't side with Bruce, and so Jason has never expected anything different from him.

Would Jason feel upset that the Wayne Estate will never be home to him again? Maybe. He could. Would he feel betrayed by the trees and the grass and the marble and the polished brass doorknobs for belonging to the Wayne family? Well. 🤷‍♀️

[MASTERPOST] That was the last conversation they had before Milek stormed out - and when he came back, Jaskier was. gone. The thing is, Jaskier knows what Milek is interested in (and he is not even wrong about that, Milek has an interest in medicine, and helping people, and I think when they met he was Shanis biggest fan) and I think Jaskier is aware that some of the conflict does have its roots in Milek not wanting to leave him, even if they get really heated and ugly in their arguments. Milek shouldn't feel like he has to care for him, or have to protect him and at times I think Jaskier feels quite ashamed, which leads him to being way too unrelenting at times - especially if he thinks he's doing something to protect Milek.

Jack has been genuinely diligent about keeping things on-topic in his streams, and hasn't brought up any of her other Stuff, or anything Personal. Despite the fact that she kickstarted the whole thing by making it INCREDIBLY personal and attacking his physical appearance... His goal has been to call out and bring attention to content theft, and he's stuck with it. Dude's also cared about this for years, and she's not the first content thief he's criticized. He just hates the way that freebooting has become so accepted-- to the point where youtube praised her for "coming up with such creative video ideas"? Hey! Ew! Dude wasn't trying to get her cancelled though, there was no smear campaign of her character. He's been rallying to get her to CREDIT the creators that she relies on for all of her content. It would set a precedent for all other "react" channels on the platform for one of the biggest channels on youtube to actually give credit where credit is due. Or, god forbid, get permission first? It's not hard. It's already done the job of making some other people who do "react content" self-analyze whether or not their content is transformative, and to maybe care about crediting the creators they rely on for their genre to work. There is a way to make this kind of video that isn't so slimy. And making fun of her lackluster-at-best reactions is so far from even being a big deal. Bc she literally does just sit there and say nothing. Plus, his goal has a clear End built into it: if she started shouting out the creators she takes content from, and put links directly to their pages in her video descriptions, the job would be done! That's what he's asking her to do. Real bare minimum stuff. It legit would have been easy to steer away from the content theft and to also talk about her history of lying to her audience! her ghosting a dying kid with cancer who was a big fan of hers! the fact that she's been arrested for armed robbery! her history of transphobia! He would also get more clicks that way, which is what she claims is his sole goal- to get more clicks. I'll bring it up though! Showing up at someone's real life home (whose address you shouldn't even have access to), filming the front of their house at night, doxxing them to your audience of millions of people? Because you were mad at them online? That is fully scary! Yeah girl I'm pretty sure that Jack can press charges! There is absolutely no way to take the moral highground now that she's literally stalked him, and doxxed his home. She tried to goad him and Erin (Jack's wife) out of the house, also, which creeps me out even more-- because what was she planning to do? The fact that she's been arrested for violent crime before does pop into my mind! lmao! Jack was streaming a game at the time that she was outside his home, and these clips of him, his friends, and Erin reacting in real time to what is genuinely a scary situation have been taken down in case he needs to use them in legal action. Shit is legitimately serious!

This image right here is the perfect illustration of the difference between Yuuji and Yuuta, it almost feels like a 4th wall break.

Yuuji has been working real hard ever since he became a sorcerer, he's survived hellish situation after hellish situation, lost so many people he cared about. And he made tremendous progress.

Yuuta was born with a hereditary ridculously overpowered technique and immense amounts of cursed energy. His playground girlfriend died and that was traumatic especially that she stayed with him and hurt people on his behalf even though he didn't want her to. But once he became a sorcerer that got very quickly resolved. Yuuta miraculously learned every technique he needed in the moment to save his friends, or cure them and himself, or to win against his enemies by just overpowering them. And then he killed Kenjaku without putting any work of his own into that.

So yeah, Yuuji has worked hard and persevered and has been disrespected and ignored for it both in the story and by the fandom. Yuuta's been given everything, even techniques and page time of other characters and congratulated for it.

While rereading mdzs I am once again shocked by how talked about the "you were the only mistake he ever made" line from Lan Xichen to Wei Wuxian is and how heated it gets some people because honestly... I don't think he actually even believes that.

Stay with me. Look at the actual line. (I Included 2 translations for comparison's sake)

Firstly, yes he is mad at Wei Wuxian in this scene. But his biggest moment of anger was actually before this. By this point he's realized that Wei Wuxian forgot what happened after nightless city (and therefore ISN'T stringing along his baby brother on purpose) so he has in fact calmed down a bit.

Secondly, notice that he starts by talking about how his uncle felt. This is not Lan Xichen making a value statement about what he thinks. When he says Lan Wangji was proper and righteous he is talking about him being a model lan, he's talking about their family and clan's perspective of Wangji. Indeed, in their eyes, Wei Wuxian is the only time Lan Wangji was ever not the textbook perfect Lan.

Thirdly, what is Lan Xichen trying to say here? What is he mad at Wei Wuxian for? It's that he doesn't know Lan Wangji is in love with him. His anger is eased by realizing Wei Wuxian doesn't remember the very blatant confessions lwj made in the cave after nightless city, or Lan Wangji fighting his own clan elders for Wei Wuxian, and so had no way of knowing the whipmarks on Lan Wangji's back were related to him. But he is still mad, he still thinks Wei Wuxian should have been able to figure it out. So what does he highlight?

The fact that the only thing Lan Wangji, perfect model-Lan righteous Lan Wangji, ever defies his clan for is Wei Wuxian.

And Wei Wuxian has seen him do this! Even if he doesn't remember this one instance. Because Lan Wangji has been doing that the whole story through. Wei Wuxian has watched Lan Wangji blatantly stand against the entire cultivation world for him, and here Lan Xichen is highlighting just how unusual that is, how much Wei Wuxian must mean to Lan Wangji that he's willing to do that. The important part of the sentence here is not "mistake" it's "only."

Lan Xichen here isn't trying to say that he disapproves of Wei Wuxian, or telling him to stay away from his brother. Remember, the thing that made him mad in the first place was Wei Wuxian saying that he and Lan Wangji slept in seperate rooms. He thought they were together! He's mad because they're not!

At no point does Lan Xichen say he individually considers Lan Wangji's feelings for Wei Wuxian a mistake. If he ever did, it's clear he accepted them regardless long ago. Mistake or not, what he wants is for his little brother to be happy.

For how much they emphasise humanising Ai, they don't really apply the same principles to Hikaru. An undeniable monster? A manipulator sure, a monster though, I don't really see it. Ai wasn't a goddess or an invincible idol, Hikaru shouldn't be a monster. They're human beings.

i have to say seeing how popular jem is now, knowing he hasn't always been, is SO reassuring and relieving. not because other characters aren't great or have good values, but because it means jem's standout qualities – things like kindness, compassion, gentleness, being thoughtful – are being appreciated and seen as more important and that's SUCH a good thing. especially knowing ya's history of pushing forward the toxic-cocky-mysterious bad boy agenda… we're finally putting qualities like kindness above that, which is a really positive step forward. i know it's more nuanced than this, and tsc's characters are far more nuanced (jem's sole trait isn't being kind, for instance) but he wasn't always appreciated this much and as a longtime jem fan i truly love to see it. i grew up reading books where the mc always went for the mysterious bad boy character – ruder, testy, provocative – and often these characters were more popular because being kind was seen as 'boring' or meant you could only ever be in the friendzone. jem was one of the first characters i read who had this really horrible backstory, but throughout everything was genuinely just kind. it's really wonderful to see so many people appreciating that :)
