RPG POST / Campaign diary
My pathfinder group just finished our first chapter of a home brew Legend of Zelda campaign
Characters: - Corru Dis: Hylian Oracle, an elderly doomsayer who is just about always right and always carries butterscotch candies. - Seb Ulba: Mogma Ranger who excels in burrowing and entering. - Mac Beth: human Barbarian with a strong sense of restraint. Back alley ruffians don’t get that special treatment though. - Waliiki: Skullkid Rogue and his animal companion, Reepicheep. Needs help counting rupees but skillful in tumbling and raising everyone’s spirits. (My character)
gonna summarize under the cut spose with pictures
DISCLAIMER: I’m not very familiar with the Zelda franchise and world (to my shame) so it’s super fun to rp our way around the world.
My character, the rogue, and the oracle, began as con artists and so when a couple adventurous muscley types turn up, the oracle declares them the joint, “HERO OF THE NON-EUCLIDEAN GEOMETRIC TIMELINE” and the two of us as their guides.
Cha-ching. Everybody knows adventurers are instant cash cows.
Thus the party was formed and the quest began: help a Kokiri girl find her fairy guide. we found out an alchemist/necromancer had stolen her to try and return life to the undead. The party beat him up and rescued the fairy. The girl was very grateful and asked for further assistance in saving her village god, the Great Deku Tree.
We agreed and so were off from Castle Town to the Kokiri Forest. Initially failing to speak to the Great Deku Tree directly, the town leader needed some convincing. Enter charisma wizard, Mr. Dis.
Long story short, after plenty of drinking he was able to gain admittance. The rest of the group had to figure out other ways.
Mac Beth, the Barbarian, and Waliiki, tried to ask the guards nicely but they said no rather rudely. Mac grew upset but held his temper.
And also he had been baldified.
Faring the worst was Seb. He tried to sneak his way in by burrowing but overshot the target by a few miles and ended up in the Lost Woods.
He failed to find his way out and is still lost to this day. The party is pretty sure he’s fine though.
Finally, with the Deku Tree itself giving its blessing, the party was able to enter the Forest Temple. There, they were presented with various puzzles and enemies. They had gained a new ally though to replace the one they’d lost in the form of the Korok Summoner, Artemis and his Archon Eidolon, Butler
In the Forest Temple, the party of the HERO OF THE NON-EUCLIDEAN GEOMETRIC TIMELINE faced numerous enemies blocking puzzles and objectives and treasures but perhaps the toughest battle came from an Assassin Vine lying in wait.
The vine was too fast and Waliiki had jumped in alone, and his dear friend Reepicheep paid the price for it. Waliiki has a completely rational fear of water and thick vines now. Plus, as a carnivalist, losing his familiar cuts many of his abilities away. Sad day.
Many days and fights and rests later, one of which included both Corru Dis tripping a STATUE and Artemis reflecting a crit BACK at it, we entered upon the final area. The party had levelled so Waliiki had a new animal friend, this time a goat named Moorbeak. (The goat is the smart one of the pair, trust me.)
He acted as a caddy, supporting Waliiki, and giving potions to whoever needed them.
But there was revealed the final boss, Gohma, a great spider monster who attacked from ambush on enemies she webbed and laid eggs of tiny but venomous spiders to cover her retreat. It was a punishing battle but with Corru Dis’s magic root manipulating stick and Butler’s magic muscles, the party was able to bring down the beast and cleanse the temple.
Corru waved a magicstick and smashed the spider to the ground where Butler delivered the final blow, tearing its Gohma’s single hideous eye from her head.
There, a portal opened in the floor and the party stepped though to find Naphuo, their Kokiri friend, waiting for them. She congratulated the party but informed them she was to become a sage, a bridge to the spirit realm and aide to the goddess Hylia. She couldnt come with the party, but she asked their help to continue to cleanse the other temples.
Naphuo and Waliiki had become good friends so as a parting gift, she gave him a necklace and when it’s quiet sometimes he can hear her voice in the breeze.
And there we finished the first chapter. I had a lot of fun with Waliiki and the other characters. I did this cuz i’d made some sketches of events for the game and figured i’d share em here too.
Dunno if I’ll make more. I’m currently a player in one other game and DMing a third, which i do have plans of sharing but not for a while spose. Cheers
