it makes me excited that yanqing and jingliu have had so much content together so far. both their companion quests heavily feature the other. yanqing appears in both jingliu's myriad celestia trailer and her keeping up with star rail video. i love that jingliu continues to say their "fates are intertwined". and i love that jing yuan asked yanqing to escort and keep watch of her during her final walk through luofu.

i don't know what jing yuan thinks of them personally. i think on a logical level he had to trust jingliu would keep her word, because yanqing wouldn't be able to stop her if she didn't. and yanqing's experience with her fits well with her request. but i also wonder if jing yuan took notice of jingliu's fondness for his student. i wonder if he can see the synergy these two have. in their shared closeness with swordsmanship. in their interactions that remained sincere and amiable in spite of being in opposition with each other. i feel a desperation in jing yuan to inspire positivity in his old, estranged friends' broken lives. he prioritizes his duties as a general first, but he can work in a little something if it's the right opportunity.

i trust jing yuan's judge of character. he's not infallible but he understands people well. i hope this is a good sign for jingliu and yanqing's friendship in the future.

Yanqing’s Happy Family AU: Reacting to parenting advice

If you pick your baby up too much you’ll spoil them

Jing Yuan: This is cruel and I’m not doing it. How can I not pick up Yanqing, especially if he asks?

Dan Feng: No. Absolutely not. I will always pick Yanqing up when he wants me to. I don’t care if I spoil him. He deserves to be spoiled.

Baiheng: That’s essentially neglect! Yanqing deserves to be cuddled and held! In fact, I’m going to find him now!

Yingxing: I can understand the reasoning but I think babies are a bit too little to learn how to be spoiled. Babies can’t exactly do anything on their own so it makes sense for us to spoil them.

Jingliu: You’re right. It’s important to not spoil children from an early age. *does not actually practice this when it comes to Yanqing. She’s just as guilty of spoiling Yanqing as the rest of them.*

We’re about to get the 1.2 update and finally learn some more about the tumultuous past between Dan Heng, Blade, Jing Yuan, and Jingliu but god if I’m not more than a little happy for the first three that they’ve found a new community and family after their previous one was lost.

Dan Heng has the Express crew.

My hope for him in the story is that he has a moment where he realizes how much they’ve come to mean to him. He’s been so focused on running from his past that maybe he forgets to cherish the present.

Jing Yuan is the general for the Luofu. The whole ship looks to him for leadership.

He’s no longer that little boy looking to his master for guidance. He has Yanqing, Fu Xuan, Yukong, Tingyun—the whole Luofu.

Blade has the Stellaron Hunters.

It can be seen as purely transactional. Blade is a useful weapon and they’ll give him what he desires: death. But the little details the story sprinkles in—Kafka calling him Bladie, him accompanying Silver Wolf to arcades—shows that there’s fondness too.

I highlighted these three specifically because I don’t know if or think that Jingliu has found something else since the quintet.

Her appearance in Yanqing’s quest leads me to believe otherwise. She and Blade are very similar—struck with Mara and having certain ways to control it, yet all the more disconnected from reality and dangerous for it.

But the crucial difference is Blade has people he can rely on. It’s clear the Stellaron Hunters take care of each other in their own unorthodox way, even if it’s just following Elio’s script.

Jingliu doesn’t.

TL;DR found family matters. Those four were once family and their most important connections, then it fell apart.

Three of them have managed to find other people in their grief and it makes all the difference.

i was thinking about xingyue child again today.

That in itself would make a great post i'm sure. Anyways:

Xingyue child being a child that runs, climbs, plays... but nobody has the energy/mentality for them.

Tiny toddler xingyue child who runs around and wants to play

Early morning they push some dried fruit into dan fengs mouth, climbs up on his shoulders and screams "how is it!?" And he answers "mhm" because his mouth is full and he just got up.

Toddler xingyue child who hides, sneaks, and leaps at yingxing the moment they think he doesn't see them (he knows. They're not great at hiding), then he catches them mid jump and twirls them around two or three times. But he's an old man at this point so playtime is usually rather short (also they get scolded by dan feng when they overdo it. Like, both of them)

Due to this, xingyue child's energy goes THROUGH THE ROOF whenever uncle jing yuan visits. Someone they can play with a lot? And no danger of getting scolded? Yeah!! Well he's technically a lot younger than yingxing. And even if the child was TOO energetic for him, yingxing would just see it as revenge for how jing yuan was when he was younger.

They play nicely with baiheng. Nobody knows why. Baiheng is the only one who gets the "calm toddler" experience (mostly because xingyue child just cuddles with them, due to baiheng holding them over her head, claiming they're a starskiff, and xingyue child didn't like the experience.)

They don't play with jingliu. Why not? They don't want to bother her. They're just happy she decided to visit.

The first time they all wanted to bring her to a festival, dan feng started fussing and was like "no. Too dangerous. They can't." Only to be coaxed into letting xingyue child come along because there is no way anyone would go up against all five of them, right? They had a lovely time too.

Running up and down the astral express when dan heng fails to entertain them adequately. Dan heng trying to catch them but this isn't their first life. It's the second and they decided to live it slippery and as a menace.

The entire astral express crew absolutely giving up when xingyue child ate candy from the IPC and now they're high on sugar because they've only ever eaten xianzhou sweets, if anything, which aren't that sweet.

On second thought maybe they're just used to dried fruits because of their upbringing.

Dan heng trying to help them brush their teeth but they don't like it so they bite his arm instead. The teeth barely even go through the sleeve but it's the thought that counts (????)

Take two with blade who just says "are you a good little kid? Good kids get their teeth brushed." And they just let him bc yeah y didnt u just say so.

i don't know why but i think yingxing, and also blade, are somehow better at parenting than dan feng/ dan heng. Maybe a short-life thing. Parental instinct and such. Whereas dan feng just thought every vidyadhara can do this/that from birth (spoiler: they can't bc its literally their first time around) and dan heng is torn between his memories, which suggest they can do this/that from birth, imaginary dan feng who lives in some corner of his mind and claims maybe they need some help learning this/that, and blade, who tells him he's stupid for expecting a toddler to be able to do this/that the reason being x/y/z.

Jing yuan as a babysitter. But really he just sleeps the whole time (or pretends to) and yanqing and fu xuan are the ones actually looking after xingyue child. if he is awake he just takes them to the seat of divine foresight and plays works a bit with them

Xingyue child playing with bailu by following her every step. Like a little duckling. Bailu feeds them a lot. They gain a bit of weight every time they're with bailu.

Ok, the stellaron hunters probably not being as involved. But i can imagine kafka holding them up by their neck/tail and asking if anyone lost their hybrid.

Also xingyue in both lives with an azure dragon plush(?) And dragging it with them always, even though the damn thing is slightly bigger than they are.

oh man im so annoyed at the expy claims. her ass is NOT lin zhaoyu. you dont even want her to be lin zhaoyu. so many reasons why. [brief detour to discuss expys in hsr]

i feel like a lot of the people making the claim are doing so because theyre more used to how expys look in genshin and just googled ma feima, saw he had a wife, and decided yunli must be her expy because they're vaguely similar looking

but every expy so far has shared a name (at least in part) with their hi3 counterpart (natasha = raven/natasha ciaora, seele = seele vollerei, bronya rand = bronya zaychik, cocolia rand = cocolia, himeko = murata himeko, acheron/raiden bosenmori mei = raiden mei, kafka = kafka/loner of prague, luocha = otto apocalypse/luocha/raksasha, marshal hua = fu hua, sushang = li sushang, yanqing = ma feima/yanqing)

in genshin most of the expys have different names, but hsr has been fairly consistent in keeping the names mostly the same with one exception (silver wolf, who potentially, like welt, also is just a hi3 character)

lin zhaoyu was NOT a nice lady

she's yanqing's groomer. she was already a grown adult when fu hua adopted him, and became obsessed with competing with su mei (a teenager) for his love. its heavily implied she coerced him into marriage

yunli doesnt even look that similar to her!!! they both have dark hair and amber eyes, but yunli's is blue, while zhaoyu's is black. lin zhaoyu is taller and like, explicitly aged (her vn sprite has wrinkles!) while yunli is shorter and younger than yanqing

(tbh, for that reason of age its also difficult to say 100% that yanqing and ma feima are expys. yanqing has more superficial similarities than yunli does, but my nonserious conspiracy is that he's actually the kid of this universe's feima

anyway detour over. this theory just really gets on my nerves, especially seeing it from people who ship yunqing

god this game is so stupid. every time there's meant to be a huge crowd and they have maybe a handful of npcs as set dressing. its so funny. this wardance is a FLOP

i think its really interesting how jing yuan seems to have his impression of yanqing frozen at the heliobus incident without realising how much that fundamentally changed him (and how training march also impacted him). idk it feels very realistic for a parent to not notice how their child is growing until they already have.

meanwhile it seems like feixiao sees him for exactly who he is now

im really happy they let yanqing shine this patch. he finally got a textual win. maybe people can stop shitting on him now

Thoughts on the 2.4 HSR story quest

As anticipated, I'm yapping about the 2.4 continuance story quest. Spoilers ahead, so I'm putting a read more - hopefully it works like it should.

So, we're back on the Luofu huh. Can't say I'm exactly happy about that - everything about that region except the High-Cloud Quintet bored me to death, but this time around I think they did a better job with the characters (and the stakes, frankly. I found Phantyllia to be a yawn inducing antagonist).

This time, while I still found some parts to be still a little wonky pacing wise, I enjoyed myself more. Mostly due to Feixiao and them finally deciding to utilise Hanya and Xueyi more. These two had so much potential and I felt like they were terribly underused the first time around.

Yunli was a fun little character, very prideful and somewhat bratty just like Yanqing is, so it was no surprise they butted heads lol. Their arguing dragged on a taaaad much during the March 7th event, but during the story they were fine and they had a fun dynamic.

The story was alright. The IPC are back to being villanous, though this time after Aurum Alley I found them to be pretty pathetic (the main threats were their mechs and what the experiment with biological life + metal means for the universe *shivers*). The Borisin are basically being herded by Phantyllia who clearly finds some usefulness in Hoolay, so hopefully they interact and it makes me enjoy her just a little bit more.

The jailbreak part was absolutely the highlight of the story for me. Moze's right though, security in the Xianzhou Luofu is wack lmao. Like I can buy the borisin infiltration somewhat, but the invisible random mara-struck soldiers? xD The parts with Hanya and Xueyi were great. They really needed some extra screentime, the ghost event was not enough, and I feel like this quest showcased them a lot more as characters AND sold me on their relationship more.

My biggest disappointment in this quest was probably not showing Jingliu at all. Like, I get it, they are saving her for the continuation and all of that, but having no insight at all on her thoughts on the situation is frustrating. Jingliu is probably one of my favorite Luofu characters, if not my fave tied with Blade, and we've been teased with some action with her and Luocha since what, 1.3? 1.4? I really hoped to see at least a snippet of her, but nothing. Oh well, since Hoolay definitely wants revenge we'll probably see her somewhere along the line, hopefully sooner rather than later. I feel like the Luofu has burned too much good will among the fanbase to afford to dangle plot threads over our heads like that.

Overall, I enjoyed the quest, and it definitely suffered less from trying to stuff all characters inside of it than the first time around (or, at least, this time the characters actually came across as interesting) but I think the first part dragged a little bit. We'll see how they continue it; hopefully they don't drop the ball like they did the first time around, because the Luofu is already hanging on by a thread.

Bailu!! My first child, I adore her. I started playing the same day the game launched so she was the only dragon we had, and i was so happy to have her because i love dragons. I have better sustain options now but i will love her forever (And she will probably love me too because i already got three copies or her .)

I am very sorry i don't know how to choose . Mostly Blade, Jing Yuan, Kafka, Ruan Mei, Yanqing and Gepard. These are the characters you probably will see me crying for, or because of them.. ALSO!! i know aventurine isn't out yet.. but him :(

I just got Kafka but i find the DoT playstyle so fun, so i really like her. Also the blade + jingliu combo i use on basically everything. Eventually i will be able to enhance my jing yuan with a topaz but even right now i still like playing him.

Oh this one is easy, Sampo for sure. I need this mans gender fr, he's so fun, everytime i see him in events and missions I start giggling to myself

Sushang !! She's my daughter and i love her, i love playing with her, atm she's actually the only 4* i really play bc the other ones aren't built. Still, I've been meaning to build Guinaifen because i really like to play her too

i LOVE the luofu, even though it's storytelling is a bit messy.. i like the messy! i love the lore, the characters, but especially the lore. fascinated with the way the aeons are more present than the other places we've been so far, especially because i really enjoy these aeons in particular

Favorite 1.0 Zone (Story):

Even though i like it.. As i said, the Xianzhou story is weirdly paced, so i have to give this one to Belobog. It was the best possible start for the game, after leaving the space station. There's not many characters, at least not as much as the Luofu, and everything seems to fit better. (I also find the continuance to be better than the xianzhou but thats something different)

Favorite Character-Specific Quest:

I have three in mind. Yukongs quest made me cry like a baby, it rewired my brain cells, changed my chemistry, everything you can think of, it did to me. Someone let this woman be happy I'm begging. But also!! Kafka quest melted my heart, i . AUUGHHH I LOVE KAFKA- ahem. i like that everytime we talk to her, one on one, it's different from the other characters.. most of the time it looks like we're watching from the outside but not with kafka, we always see eye to eye.. Just makes it more emotional, makes her seem more vulnerable, more like a person.. I like that a lot

Character who doesn't have a quest yet, but should:

Blade and Jing Yuan. There's a chance we get both in the future, seems like we'll continue to meet the stellaron hunters so i have hopes for a blade companion quest eventually. As for JY.. If there's a day we explore the other xianzhou ships we migh get his.. but I'm unsure, maybe that's just wishful thinking

The recent life nurturing event and the belobog museum event, i tend to prefer the non battle events.. even if aertherium wars was kinda fun

Aha my beloved . I also like Yaoshi a lot (they're literally my lockscreen) but oh my. Aha. I love aha with all of my heart, I'd dedicate my life to that guy, the vibes are impeccable. Anything relating to aha and/or the masked fools has my undying love

They are very protective of Yanqing and I do have an assassination attempt on that is in the works. Still at the brainstorming phase thought so it'll be a while before it is written.

Supervised Mission

Up until he was 13, Yanqing's missions were always supervised by Jing Yuan or Jingliu. While the Xianzhou Alliance at heart was always at war, they did not have it in them to send Yanqing out on his own regardless of his skill. For those who stay behind, they are a bundle of nerves that grow more frantic each day. The battlefield is unpredictable and their little bird is so young and little. They could not bear it if his wings were clipped too early.

Even during supervised missions, there were always constant calls and follow-ups. Jing Yuan was always strict about not missing personal relationships with work, especially since it could lead to talks of Yanqing only achieving his position through nepotism. However, he would give constant updates and was only on the lookout for Yanqing's well-being. While he would sit back so his son could learn, any opponent that targeted his son would be quickly killed by Lightning Lord.

Jingliu, on the other hand, does not coddle Yanqing on missions. Coddling would only harm him and it is best he learn about the battlefield in a controlled environment. it was also why she refused to let the others join any mission Yanqing was on with the exception of Jing Yuan. Jingliu blocks the others before a mission due to their constant questions. One would think Dan Feng is the worst, but it's actually Yingxing. Dan Feng texts constantly at the beginning but will stop after a couple of hours. Yingxing sends a text every hour on the dot. "You guys are annoying. He's fine, if he wasn't I would text you."- JIngliu

First Solo Mission

A full-fledged assault by the Denizens of Abundance on a planetary system was met with the combined might of all six ships. Due to the scale of the battle and the need for all available personnel to be on the frontline, Yanqing's first solo mission on the battlefield was as reinforcements against the Windguard mecha beasts. At the same time, other members of his family were sent to different battles as well, leaving them unable to reach him.

Dan Feng, who was stationed on a water-filled planet due to his powers, was absolutely ferocious in battle. He cut through enemies without mercy. To him, the more they died, the less they were threats to his child. He also was extremely angry at being so far away and had no qualms about using his power to the fullest extent to end the battle quickly. The sooner he returned, the sooner he could see his child and tend to injuries. He could not find it in him to look at updates for Yanqing's battalion but he assumed if no messenger came, then his son was okay. "I need all of you to quickly die so I can go home and see my family."- Dan Feng after drowning a third of the enemy forces

Yingxing, despite being the most composed when it came to Yanqing, was filled with worry. He double, tripled checked his son's weapons before he left. He provided as much information as he could on the working on mechabeasts in the hopes the situation would be resolved before Yanqing arrived on the battlefield. Due to the days of waiting and overseeing the production of weapons, he was incredibly short with everyone though many understood why. Yingxing refused to check on anyone's status, partially because he was sure they were fine but also because any distressing news could impact his work and delay supplies and weapons to the frontlines. "You can tell that idiot of a supplies officer if he keeps delaying supplies to the front lines I will kill him!" - Yingxing to one of his students

Baiheng had joined other foxian pilots in a vicious battle against the wingweavers. She was the closest to Yanqing in terms of location and would constantly man the communication lines for updates on his situation. It went to the point where she would fall asleep with her radio tuned into the communication line and each morning she would check the casualty list. "Casualty list. Search. Yanqing. Unit name. Comet Orbit Fleet. Nothing! oh, thank Lan!"- Baiheng

Jingliu is easily the calmest in the situation. Older and more experienced than anyone else, she is very aware of the path of the Hunt and what it demands. Also, as Yanqing's teacher, she knows he will be fine. If he is old enough to copy her attacks, he will have no problem against the enemy. However, after every battle, she also checks the casualty list. "Baiheng, fine. Dan Feng, fine. Yingxing, fine. Jing Yuan, fine. Yanqing, fine. Good, they're all fine."- Jingliu

Jing Yuan was incredibly anxious. He did not fight as his time was spent strategizing not only for his fleet but the entire alliance. He did not have time to watch over matters concerning Yanqing much to his chagrin but he had ordered Qingzu to notify him of any updates no matter how small. He also found himself unable to sleep due to worry and during rare quiet periods, he spent it watching videos of Yanqing as a baby or looking at photos of them as a family to quell his aching heart. "He was so small back then. Soon, you'll be home Yanqing."- Jing Yuan who was getting teary-eyed after looking at photos of Yanqing playing with Mimi.

Yanqing made quite a stir on the battlefield. Not only did he take the Windguard head-on and chop its head off, but he also managed to strategically destroy their fleet. With their main offensive weapon out of the picture, the remaining enemy was in disarray and open to a swift and decisive offensive. "This is exhilarating!"- Yanqing developing a penchant for for fighting and the battlefield.

Yanqing was the last to make it back to the Luofu due to him being stationed the furthest from his family. He was, however, greeted with great excitement. Jing Yuan, who was the first to greet him once they were away from the other Cloud Knights, pulled him into a hug and checked over the wounds he got. Yingxing was next, having rushed over from the Artisanship Commission. He also pulled his child into a hug before demanding to see all his weapons, hoping to assess the damages and repair them before he was sent out again. Dan Feng had come rushing from treating a nasty cut on Baiheng's leg and demanded to see Yanqing's wounds. He later spent the next hour redressing everything and criticizing the handiwork of an amateur medic, stating that Yanqing could have suffered from sepsis due to the wounds not being cleaned properly.

Baiheng and Jingliu had come over later after ensuring that each other was okay. Baiheng had ordered food and was hell-bent on feeding Yanqing, saying that he had gotten so skinny in the week he was away. Jingliu, having read the report, was more than proud of her student especially his actions him severing the Wingguard's head.

After that mission, it would be another 6 months before Yanqing was sent out again. Dan Feng refuses to let Yanqing out of his sight and Yingxing and Jing Yuan agree, saying he is too young to be doing back-to-back missions like that. It totally has nothing to do with the fact that the week he was away was the most stressful week of their lives and how Yingxing was losing so much hair from the stress.

I might have gone a bit overboard with answering this but I was just so into it!
