i'm a little bit obsessed with two motifs that continually repeat both in herta's outfit and in the trailers we've had of her so far:

the first one is an easy one to explain, and that is clocks. they are everywhere in her myriad celestia trailer, and there is a really important pocket-watch that hangs on her dress

but it's not circular like an ordinary pocket-watch. i didn't make this connection, i can thank the intelligent people out there on the internet, but it seems to be a reference to salvador dali's famous portrait the persistence of memory, which is in itself referencing albert einstein's theory of special relativity but in a surrealist way ( which i think is incredibly fitting for a woman who blurs the line between scientist and sorceress ).

herta herself lampshades the connection between her and clocks in the myriad celestia trailer:

"Time" and "Space." Two conundrums hindering human progress. It was too easy to step over this limitation.

we know that she transcended time through her mysterious de-aging technology that helped her restore ( and also presumably maintain ) her youth, and we know that she transcends space through using puppet versions of herself as proxies, allowing her to reach further and achieve more than she ever could by herself.

the second one, and this one i'm less sure of but find incredibly interesting and hope we get more crumbs as the storyline continues, is hands. particularly robot hands.

they are all over her outfit. she has an actual robot hand holding her waist from behind, and the image of one on her leg, on the back of her dress, on her hat. they are all over the place

and then the motif reoccurs in her character trailer, with a huge robot hand that is pretty hard to miss:

on a surface level i think this is clearly a reference to her prowess in robotics and the fact that she engineered all of her puppets herself — and in her trailer, effectively plays god to them ( though i can only think of gru and the minions, but i digress ). but i do wonder if there is a deeper meaning to it — especially the hand holding her waist, like what does that mean.

I saw some light discourse going around hsrtwt about Ratio being bad/good/morally ambiguous

I'm not gonna comment on that too much cause I wanna talk about smth else but clearly he's a good person, probably one of the nicest people we meet compared to the war criminals and murderers. his major crime is that he's blunt, mean and makes his students cry (which is something about him I don't particularly enjoy for personal reasons, but still)

what I like, something that i feel like people tend to forget, is that he's very openly kind and caring

of course there's the basic stuff, like the fact that he pours his whole heart into making the universe a better place, has eradicated a whole illness called 'the king of illnesses' (so, supposedly, very deadly) and the entire not getting into the genius society because he cares about humanity too much. but also, you know

first of all, he has canonically made various statues depicting himself making a heart with his hands while smiling warmly. I've always found it endearing how he mildly prides himself on 'keeping the world at bay' and just being generally mean while also doing this so casually. I mean, it's a clear message: 'I love you' that's what he's saying, and he's saying it in a silly way

something a bit more hidden is these quotes from hoyolab's post. we all know the 'ignorance is an ailment' quote is directly taken from his character stories, making it canon. that subsequently makes the other two just as canon. obviously it's an official post, but I sometimes see people doubting the validity of these silly little snippets into the hsr universe

I don't particularly know if he is saying those last two quotes in general or to someone/a group of people in particular, but it's like... one of the sweetest (and corniest) things ever, and it makes me giggle a little bit. it almost felt out of character to me the first time I've seen these, but if you think about it, it's always been there

this one is from the valentines day ""event"" on twitter from earlier this year. I like his reaction to the gift for he still has some of his usual, you know, 'I cannot bear to hear such foolish questions'. he's being nice in his own way here, his demeanor is just barely reserved but the sentiment behind his words remains a positive one

another quick thing, though I don't have more examples for this one. he's always going on about how you should always consider whether the question you're about to ask already has an answer (so encouraging you to think for yourself) but he's still Always offering to help. in this and, if I remember correctly, in the mail description you get when you used to receive him for free he's making it clear that he's willing to help you discuss things for you to understand them better and will answer any question as long as it's not a 'stupid' one. he is a teacher, after all. the biggest thing about him is that he wants people to do better. other than this, despite his slight reluctance to help others himself, he does say in his character trailer that sometimes a little encouragement is required

and he does encourage people openly when they do good! no 'I suppose this is acceptable' nor 'I guess you did good'. when someone or something impresses him, he genuinely expresses it. I like to point this out because I see so many people say he's self absorbed or puts himself above others, when that is simply not true. which, I mean, can also be seen in his small little interactions with Herta, Ruan Mei and Screwllum (he literally praises them)

then he also says this a couple times. I don't exactly know what he considers courtesy or discourtesy, but it's clear that at least not all his blunt or mean words are meant to offend. this is something I'd love to look further into, but for now simply want to put here with the rest cause it's an interesting thing about him. he is already described as elegant, which implies a certain level of basic courtesy and politeness when interacting with others, though this just slightly crashes with his 'rude' demeanor

supposedly, you could make the argument that while he canonically realizes how non-endearing he can be (knows his own shortcomings, one of the exact traits he praises) perhaps he actively struggles with coming off as nice. and seeing all I've pointed out so far, maybe all those instances of him being nice are how he'd prefer to come off as (some times). that is unless I missed some bits of canon dialogue where it's implied otherwise

this isn't that detailed or well made of a post, nor the first time someone has pointed out this stuff. in fact I reblogged an incredibly good, lengthy post some time ago that talks more in depth about how nice/kind of a person Veritas Ratio really is

I simply cannot stand when he is described as cold, uncaring, selfish, self-centered or someone incapable of being gentle and loving. and it's not nearly as subtle as people seem to think it is

“So let me get this straight,” Himeko began as she watched lay back into the couch, soda in hand with a bag of chips laying in your lap, “you went to Herta’s space station, met Stelle, played Go Fish with Stelle and Dan Heng before the Legion arrived, stood up and said ‘my job here is done,’ and then left?”

You grinned, “yep, and March 7th oh so loudly declared, ‘you didn’t even do anything!!’ it was quite hilarious,” you said as you took another swig of your soda, “besides, I’m not worried. Those three will be just fine.”

Welt was the next one to come up to you, “how are you sure?”

Glancing at the man, you gave him a thumbs up, “I’m not! Just a gut feeling is all, I mean, I’m not like the people on the Luofu who have the divine foresight and crap like that,” you took another sip of your soda, “but anyway, those guys should be here any moment… which reminds me, you all for real letting a stellaron aboard this train?”

“You’re on here, aren’t you?”

You winked at Himeko, “touché.”

“There you are!”

You looked over at the doors as they opened up, March coming barreling through a moment later, “yo!”

March shoved her pointer finger into your chest, “don’t you ‘yo’ me! You left us there.”

You pouted and raised your hands in mock surrender, “but I had to, I was going to miss the season finale of my favorite anime, and you know I hate watching reruns. Besides, I couldn’t let Pompom spoil it again for me…”

“You’re unbelievable!”

March says this with an exasperated expression while throwing her hands up in the air as she walked away. Waving goodbye to March as she was probably going to her room, you then brought your attention to Dan Heng, “well?”

“It was alright, we didn’t need you there.”

“See! I knew you three will be alright,” You stood up from the couch, your bag of chips and soda being placed onto the table as you walked up to Dan Heng and the new trailblazer.

“The name is y/n, and that was a fun game of Gold Fish! Let’s play again sometime, ok?”

“It’s Go Fish,” Dan Heng lightly reminded again as Stelle took your hand and gave it a good shake.

“You sure,” you asked.

“Positive.”

“But Gold Fish sounds so much better,” you say as you let go of Stelle’s hand and shift your focus to Dan Heng.

“It only sounds good and correct because that is what you got used to saying. It’s kind of like Roku and Ruko. You know that device you hook up to your tv for streaming different apps.”

“Ahhh, that makes sense.”

Dan Heng knew you were just playing around, but he found that he quite liked and even looked forward to these interactions with you, but he knew that it won’t last forever. He remembers when you first joined the Astral Express and how you said you won’t be staying long.

He’s not entirely sure when you plan on leaving, but he hopes it won’t be soon.

You felt a tap on your shoulder and looked to see Stelle, “what’s up?”

Stelle held up the playing cards from before and you grinned, “oh? Wanna get beat again?”

“I’m pretty sure you left when I started winning.”

You rolled your eyes, “whatever Dan Heng, let’s just play.”

You grabbed Dan Heng’s and Stelle’s hands and moved your way to the couch. Pompom, Himeko, and Welt all the while could only shake their heads at the scene.

“Well, while those three play around, it’s time to go to our next destination!”

You perked up at that from the spot on the couch, “aww… already? I didn’t get the chance to get souvenirs yet…”

Pompom ignored you “time to get this train moving!”

Before you could cry a river at being ignored, Dan Heng held out a small phone charm for you, “here.”

You grinned at the small piece of jewelry before nudging Dan Heng’s shoulder, “aww, it’s a spear and it looks like yours too! How thoughtful!”

“It may not be the souvenir that you were hoping for, but I’m glad you liked it.”

You nodded enthusiastically and quickly pulled out your phone to hook the charm on, and as you did so, the Express was beginning to warp so you looked to Stelle, “hold on tight, it’s going to get a bit…bumpy.”

When you looked away to shuffle the cards in your hands, you didn’t notice how both Dan Heng and Stelle grabbed onto your sleeve. They couldn’t quite explain the reason of why they did it, but they just felt like if something went wrong, you would be able to save them just fine (even if you didn’t do anything on the space station or did anything ever as March liked to put it).

And they would be right on that feeling. You may have been the type to sit back and let them handle their own problems. But if the Epxress blew up or was going to crash, well, maybe it would of been alright for an aeon like yourself to save them.

Granted, you hoped something like that doesn't have to happen because you quite liked having them not know you're an aeon. Heh.

3.X Speculation and maybe some wishful thinking based on a buncha leaks from the r/honkaistarail_leaks subreddit. So take it with a grain of salt, or maybe a whole shaker, because leaks are by nature questionable, subject to change, and at times simply bullshit. My speculations kind of assume many of the leaks I’ve seen (and linked) to be accurate. If you don’t wanna see Amphoreus leaks or spoilers, scroll on past.

Anyway with that being said I think we might be getting Abundance Dan Heng

So, first off, we’ve been getting some leaks about Dan Heng getting a new form on Amphoreus in 3.X, and that the Chrysos Heir with the Earth coreflame at the very least looks a lot like our boy Daniel. It’s Dan Heng dude, we’re getting earth Dan Heng. Off the bat, it feels a little out of left field, especially since he’s kinda got established powers that are way different from any earth-based abilities, but this sorta lead me down a path of trying to piece together or guess more details.

So like, each Chrysos Heir is essentially a hero that holds the power of a corresponding titan, (full chart of what we know about all of them here,) and though there have been some name changes and tweaks for our brand new shiny space fantasy setting, each one is more of less based off of a titan from Greek mythology. So Georios, the Earth titan, from whom Dan Heng is (probably) getting these cool new powers, is more or less a version of Gaia. A.k.a Mother Earth.

In the silhouette that likely represents DH’s new form, all we can really make out is what looks to be an armored/scaled/clawed(?) hand and an orange glow from the flame he’s holding - probably his coreflame. Each of these mystery silhouettes has a particular color, and earth/geo in hoyo games in the past has always been orange, so to many fans that alone kind of suggests that Earth DH is gonna represent rocks more than plant life, especially since hoyo in the past has drawn a pretty hard separation between the two for characters, with geo and dendro in Genshin, and a lotta people are drawing comparisons between Dan Heng and Zhongli, because like. Something something pretty Chinese earth-flavored dragon man. But I think people forget that Star Rail isn’t Genshin, it doesn’t operate on the same elemental system or play by the same rules, and since Gaia represents both the land itself and all the nature that grows on it, I’d like to throw out the possibility that Georios will be the same way and that Dan Heng’s rocking both rocks and plants. It would also fit in really nicely with his other forms - in his regular 4 star form he’s got wind and maple leaves, and Imbibitor Lunae’s got water and lotuses. He’s kind of got a very nature-y pattern going on already, so that would fit him a lot better than just “oh he’s rock flavored now” would by itself.

To take it a lil further, my speculations on what his path might end up being is based on this count of how many characters we’re getting for each path and what we already know about upcoming characters and their paths:

We can probably safely cross off Destruction and Hunt, since Dan Heng already has versions for each of those, and I highly doubt we’re getting any repeat paths for the same characters, barring an upgrade from 4 to 5 star like Herta, which could technically happen with Hunt, but again, kinda doubt that’s the direction Dan Heng’s being taken since Erudition is very much Herta’s whole entire deal, being an emanator and all, and Dan Heng just ain’t like that. Harmony as well, because Tribbie has already spent that one singular slot (wild after there were so many in Penacony,) and Remembrance, since our roster for that seems to be filled up with Harmony Trailblazer, Aglaea, Castorice, and very likely March. Erudition has one slot taken up by Herta right off the bat, with whisperings of Screwllum possibly finally coming out in later 3.X versions, who was leaked to be Imaginary Erudition long ago, and though it could have been changed in that time, I’m just gonna assume he’ll be that until stated otherwise.

That leaves Nihility, Abundance, Preservation as possible paths for our shiny new Dan Heng. And if I’m placing my bets on one it particular, it’s gotta be Abundance, because:

There’s the whole situation with his previous incarnation/predecessor, Dan Feng’s memories still floating vaguely around in Dan Heng’s head due to the preceptors messing with his reincarnation.

Dan Feng knew healing magic, but Dan Heng doesn’t presently have that ability/know how to pull that off

He’s getting these powers on a planet heavily influenced by the Path of Remembrance, so there’s a strong possibility that something or someone there could more easily draw forth Dan Feng’s memories, and Dan Heng talk about facing his predecessor’s actions head on and not running from them, right around that time he stabbed that one guy. If given the chance to regain Dan Feng’s memories more clearly, I could easily see Dan Heng taking it if it means unraveling what exactly his actions and motives, which would make moving forward and possibly trying to right the aftermath of them a lot easier and more doable.

Doing so could very possibly bring back that healing ability in the process

Abundance would fit with the possible “mother nature”-esque theme in general, and the potential mother nature theme also kinda ties into that whole quest Dan Feng was secretly on to try and find ways to make new Vidyadhara since they can’t reproduce and have a dwindling population.

Maybe help from whatever the hell Georios is + memory recovery will actually give Dan Heng the tools he needs to not just try to make up for Dan Feng’s fuck-ups but also figure out a solution to his species’ infertility without accidentally causing a massacre this time? Idk man it kinda depends on what Dan Heng decides to do, exactly.

3.0 Amphoreus thoughts [part 1]

**Spoiler warning** for everything up until we make the promise with Aglaea. There is.. a whole lot to chat about. When some people said this patch was long, they weren’t kidding. I believe it took me like.. 10ish hours to finally finish playing. So this ends up covering four posts. Apologies if I forgot any finer details of certain things over the past couple days and as always, be wary of spoilers that I may or may not mention later on.

Okay, so I know the Astral Express asked Herta if she had any information about Amphoreus and she promptly said no, but I still sorta figured she would’ve helped us reach it somehow? I thought that was originally how she was going to be involved in the story and not.. whatever happened with her later for whatever reason. So when Black Swan did a fancy wave of her hands and said ta-da, there it is~ I was like oh, okay.. that was easy.

Ma’am, if you say that then I don’t wanna go either! You don’t have a physical body so if even someone like her is feeling cautious about what might happen then what does that mean for me huh??

Well no wonder why March didn’t appear much during this version’s many trailers. Our precious girl doesn’t seem to be feeling too well and ends up missing out on all the adventures by being stuck in bed (literally). I sincerely hope that she’s okay after this whole story, but it is nice that we’re getting closer and closer to rediscovering her past. Finally.

I love how ready Sunday is to help us. As Welt says, Sunday is quite proficient with mental healing since he’s been around tons of memoria while in Penacony, so it’s good that he actually decided to journey with us for a while. I do hope he’ll eventually join us on the new planet itself. That Nameless Faces trailer does include him there with Welt & Himeko, but who knows when that’ll happen.. or at all since not every scene from trailers actually end up in game, much like most of the White Night scenes (RIP my hopes of dancing with Aventurine).

Adding professional photographer to my resume. It was so incredibly sweet how often Dan Heng and the Trailblazer both remember to stop and take pictures for March throughout the entire quest too.

Pfftt, poor Welt, always missing out on the fun stuff to hang back and deal with important matters. He wants to go out and explore so badly.

You know those real old game shows that would always announce the big prize like “you got yourself a BRAND. NEW. CAR!!” with such enthusiasm? Yeah. That’s what this moment felt like to me. It was probably intentional, but it worked nonetheless. Also I love that Pom-Pom’s new outfits show up during story scenes!

So in true Trailblazing fashion, our arrival on the new planet is less than perfect as we get attacked and come crashing down outta the sky in no time. It’s not entirely terrible, as the game gives us this option to recreate our very first encounter with Dan Heng on the Space Station which is absolutely hilarious. That someone shouting “JUST DO IT!” in our ears is definitely me. I’m the devil. And I can’t even be mad that we get denied again because the whole callback to our first moments was perfect.

Shortly after wandering around a bit and encountering se enemies, another handsome fellow decides to join in on the sudden chaos. Dan Heng doesn’t seem to think kindly of the assist though. That boy is always ready to defend us by any means necessary. We’re lucky to have him.

Look at this smug grin of his.. acting all confident and perfect right after breaking Cloud-Piercer in two and swiping our beloved bat right out of our hands. I love him.

Oohh I know little to nothing about HI3 but that name is way too close to not be a nod to Elysia at the very least.

Teeny tiny Yingxing aka Blade mention huzzah~

I love when we get to be silly and break the fourth wall a bit. It’s definitely better whenever our comments are aimed at our serious companion.

Getting woken up by Dan Heng is a habit I wouldn’t mind happening more often. Just saying.

Now it was plainly obvious that his weapon was just broken a while ago by Phainon, so when I first saw this cutscene and saw that Cloud-Piercer looked perfectly, it really through me off, but after watching the scene back online and seeing other people chat about it, I realized that it's a spear made by him with his cloudhymn magic.

And this little bit further confirms the spear was made of water, though I am anxiously waiting the day he goes full Imbibitor Lunae mode during the story too. That one dream is Penacony alongside Jing Yuan doesn’t count for me.

Ah god.. what a fabulous entrance this was. I will admit that I stood around Mydei just gazing upon his model for a handful of minutes.

I’m not quite sure what the general consensus is about Castorice, but I don’t care much for her? I feel like she’s too similar to Seele in regards to the scythe, butterflies and purple colors. And I adore Seele. Her face reminds me of Xueyi a bit too. The only thing that caught my attention was that one yt short Hoyo posted showing off her ult (I’m assuming that was it) with the giant dragon, but as of right now she’s just okay to me. Maybe my opinion of her will change more in the future.

Both very funny yet true answers coming from us once again. This game never fails to get a laugh out of me with its writing.

May I please bring your attention to this absolute goddess descending from the heavens to bless us with her beauty and grace us with her powerful presence. Almost everyone in Amphoreus is getting these grand entrances and I’m all for it.

While it’s no surprise by the cutscenes and from all the trailers that Phainon uses a sword I am quite curious as to what path and element he will be once his announcement arrives. I think he’ll be physical but as for which path, I’m not too sure. Certainly one of the offensive types though. Don’t think he’ll be Remembrance since I can’t imagine what his summon would be.. unless he gets something special after his demigod trial or whatever.

She really does have such a pretty model. Her power with the threads reminds me of Vanessa’s magic (Black Clover) but she holds such authority like the Witch Queen with the way she watches over Amphoreus and keeps tabs on everything that’s going on.

Trailblazer fishing for compliments and Dan Heng not budging an inch. I love this duo so much. I can practically hear the teasing and deadpan tones of their voices in my head and while I’d love to actually physically hear them out loud, I understand all this strike stuff is complicated and everyone is doing what’s best for them so they can keep their jobs and return one day, and I’ll support the actors til then.

Okay, so these silly butterflies that are hiding around everywhere.. they’re probably one of my favorite little things about this planet. They’re so random the way they pull out these emoticon faces and I love each and every one of them.

I know it’s been a day or two since I witnessed this scene but I honestly forgot the majority of the conversation. She’s too pretty for me to keep focused. I know there’s a bunch of Flame-Chaser lore in HI3 but I’ll read up on some things and see how both stories connect after 3.7, so for now I’m choosing to stay blissfully unaware.

It really is a simple promise. And not wanting to give her people false hope is a pretty valid reason considering what’s going on too. Their world is in peril and I can only imagine how wild things could get if everyone in Amphoreus caused an uproar about there being worlds beyond their own sky. It would probably be easier for Aglaea and the other Chrysos Heirs to finish their mission if the people went about their daily lives instead of rushing around trying calm people down or fix any other sort of chaos that resulted from such news.

Of course I don’t think keeping everyone in the dark is necessarily a good thing, especially for their whole lives it seems, but revealing the truth now wouldn’t be ideal either. Maybe once everything is settled. But yay, Belobog mention! Take us back, Hoyo, please.

For now I’ll stop here. Seems like an odd place but it’s right before we’re able to wander about the city.. I think. Ah well, more to come.

He would just invite you in his own way to hang out really. Quality time to him is a date and well he would slowly start info dumping you randomly enjoying himself.

“So…would you perhaps like to come with me to the data bank? I can tell you about how Belobogs stellaron had such an impact assurance.” He looked at you with a small smile and small blush barely noticed.

Welt Yang

He is an oldie honestly…but a sweet one. He seems to be very serious in a lot he does but in his own way of course. He feels be should take you to a coffee shop of some sort or perhaps a nice classic dinner date as the first date.

“Are you ready my lady/gentleman/dear?” He asked gently taking your hand admiring your outfit and kissing your hand, “You’re beautiful/handsome…let us go I planned preparations for us tonight.”

I feel that he would like to take you to see the stars. I know he works in space but he works a lot. He takes care of Hertas orders, Astas money control/orders, and Astas cute puppy. He honestly would adore to just sit with you, hold you, and just admire the stars with you silently.

And here's the ol' problem again: I was generally enjoying the new story, but then That Scene happened and it just reminded me how much I'd rather have More of That instead of All This.

I groan every time we have to do a POV switch. Firefly's was the only one I ever enjoyed and that's just because it was Firefly (and Stelle was there anyway).

One of the messages you see when repairing a pillar says something like, "This column is once again able to take on the job of holding up the sky, but no one asks whether it is willing." Stelle projecting a little bit of her own feelings, perhaps?

This idea of "mortal authorities handed over the city to these supernatural people to save them" is a really interesting one... but would be a lot better if those supernatural people weren't literally The Protagonists of the Story, while the only mortal authority we're meeting here is doing an evil laugh.

Just noticed that Castorice is not called that at all in the Chinese dub. Looked it up, and her name there is Xiádié. She's not the only one with a different name, but they aren't all – Aglaea is unchanged.
